Abstract:

ABSTRACT Large-scale genomic rearrangements including inversions, deletions, and duplications are significant in bacterial evolution. The recently completed Brucella melitensis 16M and Brucella suis 1330 genomes have facilitated the investigation of such events in the Brucella spp. Suppressive subtractive hybridization (SSH) was employed in identifying genomic differences between B. melitensis 16M and Brucella abortus 2308. Analysis of 45 SSH clones revealed several deletions on chromosomes of B. abortus and B. melitensis that encoded proteins of various metabolic pathways. A 640-kb inversion on chromosome II of B. abortus has been reported previously (S. Michaux Charachon, G. Bourg, E. Jumas Bilak, P. Guigue Talet, A. Allardet Servent, D. O'Callaghan, and M. Ramuz, J. Bacteriol. 179:3244-3249, 1997) and is further described in this study. One end of the inverted region is located on a deleted TATGC site between open reading frames BMEII0292 and BMEII0293. The other end inserted at a GTGTC site of the cyclic-di-GMP phosphodiesterase A (PDEA) gene (BMEII1009), dividing PDEA into two unequal DNA segments of 160 and 977 bp. As a consequence of inversion, the 160-bp segment that encodes the N-terminal region of PDEA was relocated at the opposite end of the inverted chromosomal region. The splitting of the PDEA gene most likely inactivated the function of this enzyme. A recombination mechanism responsible for this inversion is proposed.

Abstract:

As diaries, letters and the intensive intertextuality of his prose fiction show, the German Romantic writer and composer, E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776-1822), was an obsessive bibliophile and polymath. The aim of this article is to explore how far three of his literary fairy tales, The Golden Pot: A Modern Fairy Tale (1814), The Strange Child (1816) and The Nutcracker and the Mouse King (1816), use the generic conventions of the fairy tale, and how far they are influenced by his voracious reading, his encyclopaedic knowledge of literature, and his engagement with contemporary debates. We conclude with brief observations about his literary legacy in the genres of fairy tales and fantasy fiction.

A 12ª edição da Revista Literartes, segundo número dedicado a reflexões artísticas, teóricas e críticas acerca do maravilhoso feérico em seus múltiplos suportes e mídias, tem o prazer de entrevistar uma das maiores referências mundiais em termos de pesquisa sobre o conto de fadas: Ruth Bottigheimer, docente junto ao Departamento de Análises Culturais e Teoria da Universidade Pública de Nova York em Stony Brook. Ruth dedicou grande parte de sua formação acadêmica a áreas como Língua e Literatura Germânica, História Medieval, História da Ilustração e História da Bíblia. Formou-se na Universidade de Berkeley, Califórnia, na Universidade de Munique e no Colégio Universitário de Londres. Ao longo de mais de cinquenta anos de magistério, ministrou aulas nas Universidades de Viena, Princeton e Califórnia. É membro da Sociedade Internacional de Pesquisa em Narrativas Folclóricas e da Associação de Literatura Infantil, entre outras. Resumo: É a certeza de que nada mais – ou nada importante – pode acontecer após o final de um conto que permite o acontecimento da catarse. Se na maioria das narrativas existe algum tipo de dénouement, em algumas delas isso acontece de maneira especialmente satisfatória e afirmativa. O conto de fadas é uma dessas formas narrativas onde o efeito catártico é extremo e preenche objetivos específicos, de acordo com Bruno Bettelheim. Hollywood mimetizou essa forma como estratégia de sedução, iniciando a tradição do final feliz no cinema. A partir do conto de fadas Cinderela, em diferentes versões, juntamente com a animação homônima da Disney e ainda duas versões do filme Sabrina, será traçada aqui uma relação entre a catarse e o final feliz nos contos de fada, bem como seu uso pela indústria cultural.Palavras-chave: catarse; contos de fada; Hollywood.Abstract: It is the certainty that nothing else – or nothing important – can happen after the closing of a tale that allows catharsis to take place. If in most narratives there is a kind of dénouement, in some forms it will be specially satisfactory and reassuring. The fairy tale is one of those forms in which the cathartic effect is uppermost and fulfills specific aims, according to Bruno Bettelheim. The Hollywood movie mimetized its form as strategy of seduction, starting the tradition of the happy end in film. Taking as a model the fairy tale “Cinderella” in different versions, along with Disney’s homonimous animation and two versions of the film “Sabrina”, a relation will be traced here between catharsis and happy end in fairy tales and its use in the cultural industry.Keywords: catharsis; fairy tales; Hollywood.

Abstract:

Nowadays, preschool and school children develop, are raised, and learn in a new reality for them, caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Including the assumptions of the connectivist paradigm as a novelty in the didactic activities of teachers, remote e-learning, computer games, board games, e-books, audiobooks, and multimedia programs fill free time and are becoming a way of learning and teaching in the digital age. The literary genre introducing children to the world of the contemporary threat of COVID 19 is the new fairy tale and therapeutic children’s story, thanks to which events and characters struggling with the prevailing pandemic around the world are presented. The purpose of the article is to analyze and interpret innovative proposals for e-books of fairy tales which explain to young children what the coronavirus pandemic is, how to guard against it, what is happening in Poland and around the world, how to behave, and what actions to take to prevent the spread of viruses. In their discussion, the authors emphasize the psychological, sociological, and therapeutic aspects of the presented content of fairy tales, which are most often related to experiences, emotional sensitivity, anxiety, a fear of something bad, an identification with the characters, and overcoming any difficulties in this situation which is trying for all.

Abstract:

Neste artigo, comentamos a nossa tradução de “A Few Crusted Characters” (1894), de Thomas Hardy, a partir da questão da multiplicidade de vozes textuais e de gêneros narrativos presentes no texto original. Tais aspectos, considerados como fundamentais da prosa poética por Mikhail Bakhtin (2002), são o ponto de partida para discutir as soluções tradutórias para a retextualização das vozes dos vários narradores das histórias, algumas apresentando marcas de dialeto e a inserção e subversão de diversos gêneros utilizados por Hardy. Com isso, procuramos pensar o papel da tradução comentada no âmbito da reflexão geral sobre o traduzir, visto que, para Antoine Berman (2013), esses aspectos são um dos maiores desafios da tradução de prosa.

Abstract:

AbstractMs. Uppsala E.8 contains an incomplete version of the wonder tale ATU 510B, Donkey-Skin, taken down from oral performance in 1612. Though briefly mentioned in reference works it is largely ignored and has not been translated before. Other than being the first known version of the tale and of the motif Three Magical Dresses known from the Cinderella cycle it is probably the first record anywhere of a folktale taken down from an oral source, as demonstrated by its form. It also appears to be the only folktale manifestation of the motif Three Animal Opponents, known prominently from Dante’s Commedia. Complete versions of the tale come from Scandinavian nineteenth-century folk tradition in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Some of these have the incest motif (The Unnatural Father) common to ATU 510 B, while others, including the 1612 fragment, do not: these tell of a farmer or similar who wants to give his daughter to a man she does not want, not of a widowed king pretending a marriage with his own child. In both cases the heroine escapes from home, assisted by a magical Animal Helper. An early fourteenth-century version as a non-magical novella is found in the Florentine collection Il Pecorone; there is also a loose connection to Straparola’s novella Tebaldo – the latter with, the former without the incest motif. Furthermore, the existence of the tale is one of several obstacles to Ruth B. Bottigheimer’s controversial theory that wonder tales were a sixteenth-century urban creation in print rather than a European oral tradition.

Abstract:

E-book sales surged after Amazon introduced the Kindle e-reader at the end of 2007 and accounted for about one quarter of all trade book sales by the end of 2013. Amazon's aggressive (low) pricing of e-books led to allegations that e-books were bankrupting brick and mortar book booksellers. Amazon's commanding position as a bookseller also raises concerns about monopoly power, and publishers are concerned about Amazon's power to displace them in the book value chain. I find little evidence that e-books are primarily responsible for the decline of independent booksellers. I also conclude that entry barriers are not sufficient to allow Amazon to set monopoly prices. Publishers are at risk from Amazon's monopsony (buyer) power and so sought “agency” pricing in an effort to raise the price of ebooks, promote retail competition, and reduce Amazon's influence as an e-retailer. (In the agency pricing model, the publisher specifies the retail price with a commission for the retailer. In a traditional, “wholesale” pricing model, publishers sell a book to retailers at a wholesale price and retailers set the retail price.) Although agency pricing was challenged by the Department of Justice, it may yet prevail in some form as an equilibrium pricing model for e-book sales.

Contribuir para o desenvolvimento da atividade Matemática no decorrer da avaliação da aprendizagem do 2º teorema de Tales apoiado em recursos informáticos na unidade da Geometria é o propósito deste artigo. De forma a tornar mais claro o seu objetivo, foram elaboradas tarefas e metodologia para a aprendizagem do 2º teorema de Tales, utilizando o software GeoGebra. Tratam-se de aspectos como: avaliação de conteúdos matemáticos, o tratamento do 2.º teorema de Tales, avaliação e aprendizagem do teorema de Tales com o GeoGebra e os passos para aplicar o GeoGebra no tratamento do 2º teorema de Tales. A pesquisa enquadra-se no paradigma descritivo, seguindo uma abordagem explicativa e utilizou a metodologia de critério de expertos, com aplicação de questionários e entrevistas a 15 expertos e 300 alunos da 9ª classe de uma escola do Kuito-Bié/Angola. O resultado da pesquisa consistiu na elaboração de uma metodologia para o tratamento do 2º teorema de Tales com o uso da tecnologia, em que não se perde de vista a utilização de materiais manipuláveis, reforçados com a utilização de meios informáticos, melhorando assim o aspeto visual e desenvolvendo habilidades no trabalho com esses recursos informáticos. O emprego desta metodologia, depois da sua validação pelos expertos, levou os alunos a investigarem de forma facilitada os diferentes triângulos inscritos numa circunferência e os mesmos foram capazes não só de discriminar as características destas figuras geométricas, como também, reconhecê-las visualmente, determinando a amplitude de seus ângulos de acordo com uma classificação geométrica criada por si.Palavras-chave: avaliação, teorema de Tales; Geogebra.

Abstract:

As e-commerce continues to develop, many colleges and universities have reformed their talent training accordingly. In particular, Shenzhen Tourism College of Jinan University has conducted continuous and in-depth exploration of the training mode established for e-commerce professionals. By interviewing previous graduates and tracing their career trajectories, this paper explored the adaptability of the existing talent training model to social demand, and summarized the talent training approaches that meet market demand. With Shenzhen Qianhai Patozon Network Technology Co., Ltd. as a study case, e-commerce graduates and the top management were interviewed to obtain insights into the professional knowledge and skill learning experience of senior executives at college. In addition, the influence of undergraduate talent training on the formation of innovation and entrepreneurship consciousness was discussed. Finally, corresponding measures and suggestions were proposed for enhancing the talent training plan and reforming the e-commerce major.

A partir do momento em que se estuda Geometria na escola e, estando ciente de que fórmulas e expressões matemáticas não têm aplicabilidade sem uma compreensão do que se está estudando, no trabalho aqui apresentado, visou-se analisar livros didáticos no intuito de verificar como é apresentado o Teorema de Tales, suas demonstrações e aplicações. Além disso, foi criada e implementada uma proposta didática baseada no estudo de anamorfismos e sua relação com o Teorema. A aplicação da proposta pôde fazer com que o Teorema de Tales pudesse ser percebido em situações surpreendentes para os alunos, e a construção dos anamorfismos fez com que o espírito criativo e o trabalho em equipe dos alunos viessem à tona, ao mesmo tempo em que foi possível dar significado ao Teorema estudado.

Abstract:

<p>The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of corporate e-learning in the context of talent management on a global scale. It begins with a discussion of the importance of talent management, the challenges in global talent management, and the role of corporate e-learning in global talent management. Data collected via an online survey from 74 students (global leaders from a multinational IT provider with more than 90,000 employees across 50 countries) enrolled in a customized corporate e-learning program is presented and discussed. The findings suggest that corporate e-learning can be used to develop talent attributes and skills such as problem solving, analytical, communication, research, and time management skills. Specifically, analytical, communication, and time management skills are important predictors of overall corporate e-learning experience, while analytical and research skills are important predictors of job performance. As part of global talent management, companies can enroll their A-players, high performers or high potentials into relevant corporate e-learning programs that can be used to effectively address the training challenges of a scattered workforce and improve coordination among internal and outside collaborators and partners in complex business processes and projects. The sample for this study was limited to a multinational IT services provider. Future research should extend the scope of data collection to include talents from a variety of organizations, as well as a variety of geographies and industries to further investigate the generalizability of these findings.</p>

Neste trabalho, com base nos regimes de interação e sentido da teoria sociossemiótica (LANDOWSKI, 2014), temos como objetivo compreender como se constitui o regime totalitário de Gilead, nação fictícia da série distópica The Handmaid’s Tale, com base na análise do primeiro episódio, intitulado Offred. Em vista da escassez de estudos interlinguísticos sobre a construção de mundos textuais, este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as representações mentais projetadas por elementos lexicogramaticais em um excerto do romance The Handmaid’s Tale e nos fragmentos correspondes de duas traduções brasileiras. Com base em uma abordagem teórico-metodológica que integra Estilística, Estudos da Tradução e Teoria de Mundos Textuais, conclui-se que a tradução pode exercer efeitos na construção de mundos textuais por meio de escolhas tradutórias. Escolhas em relação ao aspecto verbal, processos verbais, aos objetos do mundo textual, à modalidade epistêmica podem impactar o modo como os textos são cognitivamente processados pelo leitor.

Ao fazer isso, Tales estava usando três definições independentes de linha, e geometria em geral, provenientes de três reinos da física: gravidade, física quântica e atômica, e ótica. No presente trabalho analisamos as implicações físicas e filosóficas da coincidência entre três definições de espaço físico e sua geometria.

For the competitive market, both talent management and knowledge management of employees are key primary resources in organizations. While it is well known that in today's emerging economy, intangible resources like knowledge and human capital seem as the soul of survival; few studies have examined the effect of external knowledge management and talent management strategies in Chinese manufacturing firms. This study tries to bridge this gap by examining the importance of external knowledge management and talent management, Moreover, how this consequence can affect in particular industry for the economic growth of China? Total 249 responses were collected through structured questionnaire from manufacturing organizations located in Shanghai and Suzhou, China. PLS-SEM techniques via Smart-PLS (3.2.4) software has been used to test and validate proposed model and the relationships among the hypothesized constructs. The findings of this study show that external knowledge management (E-KM) and talent management both contributes positively to the performance of manufacturing firms. Moreover, talent management as mechanism demonstrated strong mediation effects between E-KM and performance. In researchers' point of view and results revealed the evidence by linking E-KM with TM-OP and TM as a mechanism between E-KM and OP. Such insights may helpful for managers to target sustainable current and future growth of the organizations and also, to overcome the shortage of talented and qualified worker’s issues in fast-growing emerging economies.

The article is devoted to B. Lavrenyov’s story The Forty-First [Sorok perviy]. The author sets out to identify the prototypes of the main character, the White officer V. Govorukha-Otrok. Among these, she names a famous critic from the late 1800s, Y. Govorukha-Otrok. All previous studies of this story were limited to its general aspects, with only the works of B. Geronimus, and to some extent, E. Semyonova, N. Titova, and G. Ratmanova, touching on the subject.The article begins by analyzing the legends around the character, including those inspired by the ‘Cannes echo’ phenomenon: the artistic response of several writers to G. Chukhray’s film adaptation of the story. Bakhova proceeds to point out a close connection of The Forty-First with Lavrenyov’s other works, e. g. Wormwood Herb [Polyn’-trava], noting the latter’s polemical stance towards the ideology of the 1920s. In the latter story, Lavrenyov chooses to pursue an unconventional parallel with the epoch of The Tale of Igor’s Campaign [Slovo o polku Igoreve]. Finally, she points out the close affinity of The Forty-First with Russian folk tales. Consequently, she concludes that Lavrenyov’s inner defiance of certain postulates of the Bolshevik revolution and its newly-established culture is hardwired in the story.

In book II you can see this in two passages relating to the idea of honour, whilst two Decameronic tales about King Peter the Great practically form book III. The autor, in the same style as Petrarch (and Bernat Metge) by means of the Boccaccio texts gives a turn to Bocccaccio's love moral. The last tale (viiX), based on recognition, seems to reveal that it is a novel written in code, with the intention of moving certain readers towards the behaviour which the main characters illustrate. Sono numerosi gli studi dedicati ai processi di trasformazione delle cittŕ italiane, avvenuti dopo l'unitŕ del Paese. In particolare, si tratta di ricerche che hanno indagato gli aspetti quantitativi di tale fenomeno, che riguardano lo sviluppo territoriale dei centri abitati, la dotazione di nuove infrastrutture, quali strade, ferrovie, porti, ecc, o la realizzazione di grandi opere pubbliche con finalitŕ di carattere sociale. Meno numerosi sono invece gli studi dedicati alle trasformazioni dei centri abitati e dei territori prodotte da quel fenomeno che si definisce di "costruzione dell'identitŕ nazionale". Lo scritto delinea il contesto in cui prende forma tale progetto e inquadra i temi che ne costituiscono la concretizzazione. Si tratta, nello specifico, di individuare quella "geografia" (costituita da un numero infinito di monumenti commemorativi del Risorgimento, di luoghi simbolici, di targhe in ricordo di eventi insurrezionali, di lapidi con epigrafi dedicatorie, di toponomastiche e itinerari d'ispirazione patriottica, di restauri dei cosiddetti "monumenti nazionali") in cui prende forma tale progetto e di evidenziarne i caratteri specifici. Tale rappresentazione dell'identitŕ nazionale costituisce oggi un tratto imprescindibile del volto delle cittŕ italiane, e richiede politiche di tutela e valorizzazione.

Tomaram parte desta investigação quatro professoras da rede pública do estado de São Paulo, atuantes no Ensino Fundamental a partir do 6º ano. As análises permitiram posicionar as interações produzidas pelos sujeitos em níveis de fluência com relação ao uso das tecnologias envolvidas, além de proporcionar a identificação de dúvidas dos mesmos em relação aos conteúdos matemáticos em questão. Tale sintesi scaturisce da un campione di 25 articoli rilevanti ed evidenzia tre grandi aree tematiche che hanno contraddistinto il tema delle tecnologie digitali in ambito educativo e formativo: l’uso di risorse digitali all’interno delle pratiche di insegnamento e apprendimento, l’uso adeguato delle tecnologie digitali, anche al di fuori dei contesti formativi ed educativi, e la formazione del corpo docenti alle tecnologie digitali e soprattutto al loro utilizzo a fini didattici e pedagogici. Tale sintesi rappresenta un’opportunità privilegiata per evidenziare ciò che la rivista ha contribuito a diffondere in tale ambito dal punto di vista scientifico. Nella societŕ contemporanea, definita anche societŕ del rischio globale, la crisi idrica riveste un ruolo decisivo ma controverso rispetto ad altri rischi (sanitari, ambientali, finanziari, bellici). Essa infatti colpisce maggiormente le aree geografiche del sud del mondo, dove tale risorsa č sempre piů carente e di scarsa qualitŕ; al contrario i Paesi industriali avanzati hanno un approccio poco responsabile nei confronti di un bene cosě prezioso e di una fonte che č esauribile e limitata. I vantaggi dello sviluppo e della globalizzazione non sono infatti distribuiti equamente a livello geografico e il gap tra i "ricchi" e gli "ultimi della Terra" sta diventando sempre piů profondo. Eppure uno sviluppo che intenda essere davvero sostenibile deve affrontare globalmente il problema della disponibilitŕ dell'acqua potabile, della sua qualitŕ, del suo accesso pubblico, in un'ottica di gestione e condivisione democratica di tale risorsa. Accedere all'acqua č un diritto fondamentale, universale e inalienabile, ma se non si attuerŕ un'inversione di tendenza a livello sociale, economico e politico, tale bene continuerŕ ad essere sempre piů mercificato e privatizzato.

IntroduzioneCommentare, nella mia qualità di storico e da tale punto di vista, il saggio di Modino sullo svolgimento della scienza politica in Italia dal dopoguerra ad oggi, è un compito facile per una parte, piuttosto arduo per l'altra. Facile per ciò che riguarda la verifica di quanto sia veritiero ed esauriente il quadro che Morlino traccia di tale svolgimento, delle sue tappe, dei suoi difetti, dei suoi successi, e, piò in generale, del clima culturale in cui si è prodotto e che ha concorso a formare. Arduo, invece, per quanto riguarda gli scambi possibili fra scienza politica e storiografia. Il presente contributo traccia un quadro delle ricerche e degli studi compiuti negli ultimi due secoli sul canto popolare di matrice istro-veneta, diffuso sulla costa adriatica orientale (Istria e Zara), evidenziando i principali studiosi e i maggiori risultati conseguiti. Propone quindi una distinzione dei generi o forme vocali in cui tale repertorio si manifesta (villotte, bassi, bitinade, arie notturne o da nuòto, stornelli, inni corali, canti a contenuto politico, canti dell’esodo, canti religiosi) cogliendo lo stato attuale delle ricerche e degli aspetti esecutivi di tale canto nei vari contesti di riferimento. Degli studi e delle ricerche inerenti al canto popolare istro-veneto si propone, infine, anche una bibliografia aggiornata. La costa adriatica orientale denota una vivacità musicale ricca e diversificata, che, partendo dagli albori aquileiesi tocca profondamente gli aspetti folclorici popolari, riunisce un repertorio dai tratti originali e che, soprattutto, riferendomi agli aspetti musicali sacri (canto patriarchino) e profani (canto popolare), ha consentito il formarsi nei secoli di una sensibilità musicale ad ogni livello, tale da contribuire essa stessa al sentimento d’appartenenza ad una civiltà peculiare ed unica: nelle sue componenti istriana, quarnerina, fiumana e dalmata. Compito, certamente arduo, di una musicologia istriana dovrebbe essere oggi anche quello di trarre in salvo le ultime testimonianze della musica vocale popolare di derivazione istro-veneta e non soltanto quelle di derivazione croata o slovena, essendo tale musica vocale l’anima fondante dell’essenza istriana insieme con le altre anime etno-musicali della nostra penisola.

La tendenza alla giuridificazione si colloca all'interno di un processo storico piů generale, della cui dinamica sociale ed istituzionale scandisce snodi essenziali. E tuttavia si puň propriamente parlare di giuridificazione quando tale tendenza assume, nelle societŕ moderne, una rilevanza tale da produrre una vera e propria proliferazione del diritto scritto. Correlativo e conseguente al processo di giuridificazione č l'ampliamento della sfera di attivitŕ, precedentemente regolata in modo informale, che viene assoggettata a normazione giuridica. La codificazione giuridica specialistica di stati di fatto globali interviene in una fase di ulteriore spinta del processo sotto forma di "coagulazione del diritto". Ispirandosi alla teoria dell'agire comunicativo, l'articolo esamina l'ascesa, l'affermarsi e il proliferare del processo di giuridificazione, con l'obiettivo di stabilire se e come tale tendenza abbia favorito l'emergere e il definirsi istituzionale di istanze del mondo vitale; se, inoltre, allo stato attuale del processo, queste istanze possano ancora essere promosse o non sia auspicabile un processo inverso di de-giuridificazione.

Abstract:

L'articolo esprime alcune riflessione sugli orientamenti sessuali fluidi espressi da adolescenti e da giovani adulti. L'analisi di tale prospettiva è fatta sia in relazione al processo di costruzione dell'identità psichica in adolescenza sia in relazione alle complesse trasformazioni che tale processo evolutivo ha avuto negli ultimi anni in seguito ai cambiamenti della famiglia, della società e della cultura.
