Abstract Was ist Glück, und wie wird der Mensch glücklich? Auf diese Frage gibt Ps 1 eine ebenso klare wie einfache Antwort, indem er nicht von dieser oder jener beglückenden Einzelleistung, sondern von einer Qualität spricht, die ein Mensch für sein Leben als ganzes gewinnt und die all sein Tun bestimmt. Diese Qualität bezeichnet Ps 1 als »Freude an der Tora«. Der Aufsatz beschreibt zunächst die Struktur (I) und dann die Bildsprache (II) von Ps 1, die das Abstrakte, nämlich die Antithese von Gerechten und Frevlern, mit dem Konkreten, nämlich den Bildern von Baum und Spreu, verbindet. Am Schluss steht die Frage nach der Bedeutung von Ps 1 für den Psalter (III). Zusammen mit Ps 2 ist er ja das »Tor zum Psalter«. Denn alles, was auf dieses Proömium folgt, nämlich die Ps 3-150, ist in dem Licht zu sehen, das durch dieses Portal auf den Psalter fällt.

Abstract The Reformed Dutch baptismal form in the Dathenus Psalter (1566) is a translated adaption of the form in the Palatinate Church Order (1563). In the Palatinate Church Order (1563), this baptismal form is accompanied by a text “On holy baptism.” The present article researches the sources of the baptismal texts in the Palatinate Church Order (1563), with a special focus on the phrase “children having the Holy Spirit.” It builds upon the critical edition of J.F. Gerhard Goeters (1969), and uses an extra type of sources: the so-called Lasconian catechisms.

ZusammenfassungBei einem dreijährigen Zuchtbullen der Rasse Holstein-Friesian trat in unregelmäßigen Abständen eine rezidivierende Pansentympanie in Verbindung mit Inappetenz auf. Durch eine diagnostische Ruminotomie ließ sich eine Zubildung (15 × 10 × 8 cm) in der Haubenwand in der Nähe der Hauben-Psalter-Öffnung als Ursache ermitteln. Aufgrund des hohen züchterischen Wertes des Tieres wurde als Therapieversuch eine Exstirpation der Zubildung durchgeführt. Die histopathologische Untersuchung des Exstirpates ergab eine granulomatöse, aktinomykoseähnliche Entzündung, in der fadenförmige, grampositive Bakterien nachgewiesen wurden. Innerhalb von sechs Monaten nach der Klinikentlassung trat keine erneute Tympanie auf.

A new Metrical Psalter in Afrikaans: Premises, policy, problems. For almost twenty years a commission of the Afrikaans-speaking Dutch Reformed churches has been working on a new metrical Psalter. The policy of versifying the Biblical texts is rigid and in many instances theologically outdated. The primary problems are the principle of a reproductive versification, a versification in one form and style, the lack of a hermeneutical approach, the question whether all 150 Psalms need to be reproduced anew and the lack of a proper liturgical function of many of the texts.

Zusammenfassung:Ps 18,31–32 liefert den Plan für Ps 19 mit, in Kontinuität zu Ps 18, der Substitution von El durch Baal mit einem dreifachen synonymen Parallelismus (19,2–7) und seiner Identifikation mit Jahwe und seiner Lehre (19,8–11), dem »Fels« des Psalmisten (19,12–15). Der Titel von Ps 19,1 zusammen mit den Versen 19,12–15 stellt eine Verbindung her zu Ps 51 und dessen Titel. Der Einfluss der Weisheitsliteratur wird schon in Ps 18,31 = Prov 30,5 deutlich und in Ps 18,32, der die Frage von Prov 30,9 umdreht. Ps 19,2–7 bezieht sich auf den Siraciden und 19,8–11 auf Ps 119, dessen Vokabular schon in Ps 18,31–32 vorkommt, und schließlich auf das Buch der Sprüche. Die Abfolge Weisheitspsalm – Davidspsalm, oder umgekehrt, spielt eine wichtige Rolle in der Strukturierung des Psalters, nicht nur in Ps 1 und 2; 18 und 19; 119 und 120–134, sondern zum Beispiel auch in Ps 89 und 90. Es handelt sich um die Verbindung von Weisheitslehre und messianischer Hoffnung.

Psalm 137 and metrical versions of imprecatory psalms This article discusses seven metrical versions of the im- precatory section of Psalm 137, two in Dutch (1773 and 1968), two in English (in the “Psalter hymnal” of the Christian Re- formed Church and in “Sing psalms” of the Free Church of Scotland) and three Afrikaans versions (J.D. du Toit, T.T. Cloete and Lina Spies), looking at the way in which these versions treated this section. This is done in the light of recent research on Psalm 137, and especially the imprecatory section. In the literature questions are asked about the singing of this kind of psalm in the church, but also about the omission or softening of this part of Psalm 137 in the versions of Cloete and Spies. The choice of melody, the number of strophes used and the division of the contents of the psalm in strophes play an important role in determining most of the omissions or alle- viations in the metrical versions. All seven the versions dis- cussed took the imprecatory section seriously. The problems raised against these versions can be ascribed to these choices, and not to a deliberate attempt to circumvent the problem of such an imprecatory section. The version of Spies is the only exception, with the omission of the last line of the psalm.

Die lied en musiekinstrumente speel 'n baie belangrike rol in die Bybel. Die Moseslied (Eks 15) word in die Psalms aangehaal en kulmineer in die 11 nuwe 11 lied van Openbaring - die lied van die "nuwe" hemel en die 11 nuwe 11 aarde wat verlostes saam sal sing. Die brandende vraag wat "reg" of hoegenaamd standpunt ingeneem moet perspektief (die Woord van God) "verkeerd" is en of daar word, word uit 'n Bybelse beantwoord, gegrond op die beginsel van die Reformasie: ecclessia reformata semper reformandum. Die geskiedenis van die lied van die vroee kerk tot by die Ref ormasie word kursories behandel. Die lied wat in die geskiedenis uit die mond van die gelowige, die lidmaat gehaal is en aan die priesters oorgelaat is, word deur Luther weer teruggeplaas in die mond van die gelowige. Dit blyk dat Calvyn, tsv die Ref ormasie slagspreuk, in sommige aspekte van sy beskouing van die kerklied, steeds 'n Roomse standpunt bly handhaaf en net tot by die vroee kerk "gereformeer" het. Slegs sgn "heilige" liedere, direk uit die Bybel, musiek sender instrumentale begeleiding, kon gebruik word. Saam met ons voorsate, wat van oa Nederland gekom het, het ons liederebundels gekom. Van Riebeeck het met die Datheense Psalter (die amptelike Nederlandse kerklied) wat later deur die 1805- "Evangelische Gezangen" aangevul is, geland. Agv die "cuius regio eius religio"-beginsel het die Hollandse kerklied voorkeur bo Lutherse ea kerkliedere gekry. Die 1805-"Evangelische Gezangen", alhoewel dit hartlik verwelkom is, het gelei tot misnoee in Colesberg en later in Rustenburg, wat op sy beurt gelei het tot kerkskeuring. Die "Evangelische Gezangen" was ook, naas die Bybel en die Psalmboek die metgesel van die Trekkers, kommandolede (Anglo-Boereoorlog) en die krygsgevangenes in die konsentrasie- en krygsgevangenekampe. In die kampe was daar baie tyd vir die sing en skep van gewyde liedere. Nie-goedgekeurde bundels en die vertaling van die Bybel in Afrikaans (1933) het aanleiding gegee dat liederebundels hersien moes word. Die 1937 (Totius-beryming), die 1944 Gesangboek, die 76/78-Psalmboek en die 1978 Gesangboek was die resultaat. 'n Dualistiese standpunt, dat sekere liedere geskik is vir kerkgebruik en ander slegs vir buite-kerkgebruik (die 1984- Jeugsangbundel) het aanleiding gegee tot die publikasie van SOM en Jeugsangbundel 2, 1993. Huidig gebruik talle gemeentes 'eie' bundels tsv sinodale besluite dat slegs SOM en JSB2 naas die Psalm- en Gesangboek gebruik mag word. Die verskyning van die Proefsangbundel 1998 (IKSA) lei 'n nuwe fase van die kerklied in SA in as die Ned Herv Kerk ook begin om "nuwe" liedere op die proef te stel. Vos, Strydom, Huisamen, Konig, Kloppers, ea het in resente jare evaluerings oor die kerklied gedoen. Die "ou", die "nuwe" en die kontemporere kerklied (veral met verwysing na die NG Kerk) m6et almal plek kry in die musiekskat van die 21ste eeu.
The hymn and musical instruments play a cardinal role in the Bible. The Song of Moses (Ex 15) is used in Psalms and in Revelation 15:3. The question with regards to what is acceptable and unacceptable and whether it is at all imperative to take a defendant stance, is clarified from a Biblical point of view. It is based on the Reformation-principle: ecclesia reformata semper reformandum. The History of the 'Song' Hymn in the early church up to the Reformation is shortly mentioned.
