Abstract:
This paper introduces a novel microwave planar filter design using triple?mode resonator. In order to achieve the filter size reduction we use the multilayer technology. The structure consists of two dielectric layers separated by a common ground plane. The triple ? mode resonator consists of two dualmode resonators which are placed on different sides of dielectric layers. Electrical connection between the two resonators is realized by using a via-hole. We use the dual-mode resonator with the short circuited central stub. The filter is designed for the center frequency of 1 GHz. In order to reduce the simulation time for the filter design, we propose a new circuit model, because the circuitlevel simulations are significantly faster than three-dimensional electromagnetic (3D EM) simulations. The 3D filter structure is decomposed into domains and each of them is modeled by a microwave network. The results of the 3D EM simulation and circuit-level simulation are in good agreement.

Abstract:
Hypersonic civil aviation is an important enabler for extremely shorter flight durations for long-haul routes and using unexploited flight altitudes. Combined cycle engine concepts providing extended flight capabilities, i.e. propelling the aircraft from take-off to hypersonic speeds, are proposed to achieve high-speed civil air transportation. STRATOFLY project is a continuation of former European efforts in hypersonic research and aims at developing a commercial reusablevehicle for cruise speed of Mach 8 at stratospheric altitudes as high as 35 km above ground level. The propulsion plant of STRATOFLY aircraft consists of combination of two different type of engines: an array of air turbo rockets and a dualmode ramjet/scramjet. In the present study, 1D transient thermodynamic simulations for this combined cycle propulsion plant have been conducted between Mach 0 to 8 by utilizing 1D inviscid flow transport relations, numerical tools availablein EcosimPro software platform and the European Space Propulsion System Simulation libraries. The optimized engine parameters are achieved by coupling EcosimPro software with Computer Aided Design Optimization which is a differential evolution algorithm developed at the von Karman Institute.

Abstract:
In 2017, NIST shook the cryptographic world by starting a process for standardizing post-quantum cryptography. Sixty-four submissions have been considered for the first round of the on-going NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) process. Multivariate cryptography is a classical post-quantum candidate that turns to be the most represented in the signature category. At this stage of the process, it is of primary importance to investigate efficient implementations of the candidates. This article presents MQsoft, an efficient library which permits to implement HFE-based multivariate schemes submitted to the NIST PQC process such as GeMSS, Gui and DualModeMS. The library is implemented in C targeting Intel 64-bit processors and using avx2 set instructions. We present performance results for our library and its application to GeMSS, Gui and DualModeMS. In particular, we optimize several crucial parts for these schemes. These include root finding for HFE polynomials and evaluation of multivariate quadratic systems in F2. We propose a new method which accelerates root finding for specific HFE polynomials by a factor of two. For GeMSS and Gui, we obtain a speed-up of a factor between 2 and 19 for the keypair generation, between 1.2 and 2.5 for the signature generation, and between 1.6 and 2 for the verifying process. We have also improved the arithmetic in F2n by a factor of 4 compared to the NTL library. Moreover, a large part of our implementation is protected against timing attacks.

Abstract:
In this thesis, we study the design of multivariate cryptosystems, which are resistant against classical and quantum computers. In particular, we study two digital signature schemes that I submitted to the NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography standardization process: GeMSS and DualModeMS. These schemes are based on the HFE family. We propose security parameters based on a state-of-the-art of twenty years of intensive cryptanalysis. Then, we select secure parameters which maximize the practical efficiency. We measure this with a new library: MQsoft. MQsoft is a fast library in C which supports a large set of parameters for HFE-based schemes. Its performance outperforms all existing libraries. We explain in this thesis how we obtain this result. Whereas GeMSS is a scheme which has a large public-key but a very short signature, DualModeMS is based on a transformation inverting this trade-off. However, its security is based on the assumption that the AMQ problem is hard. We demonstrate that this assumption is verified, and we confirm our results with experiences using Gröbner basis. Finally, we propose the first implementation of DualModeMS. We study how to implement it efficiently, as well as how to optimize the choice of security parameters. We also extend DualModeMS to the Rainbow cryptosystem instead of HFE. This allows to have interesting key sizes and signature sizes

Abstract:
Continual increase in transport demand and uneven road capacity results in chaotic traffic congestion, brings with it high levels of air pollution, an elevated number of accidents, and an insatiable demand for oil to satisfy the motorized vehicles on roads. The dualmode transportation system is a transformational solution to address all of these problems simultaneously. This project will quantify the amount of energy needed to electrify a portion of the actual ground transportation (personal vehicle and freight) in a specific electric region grid and analyze the impact that it represents. A model that gives a close approximation of the electric energy demand that would be generated by converting existing traffic data into electricity demand was developed. This model allows for sensitivity testing of all conversion factors, data variation and variations in the different types of propulsion technology that may be used in the new system. Results show that inclusion of the new transportation system into the electric grid of Texas will not require significantly more energy than the current available resource.

Abstract:
In 2005 the Brazilian National Healthcare Agency (Agência Nacional de Saúde Suplementar (ANS), in Portuguese) published the TISS standard, a mandatory electronic exchange claims between the health insurance (approximately 1500 registered at ANS) and healthcare providers (approximately 200 000) about the healthcare events provided to the beneficiaries. The TISS standard was developed following the structure of the ISO/TC215 Committee for Health Informatics and is divided into four parts: data structure that encompasses the forms; semantic content that refers to the vocabularies and terminologies; data interchange that includes the electronic messages; and security issues in healthcare information following a recommendation of the Federal Council of Medicine (Conselho Federal de Medicina (CFM), in Portuguese). To improve the TISS standards evolution, this study analyses the levels of interoperability in accordance with ISO 20514 (ISO 20514, 2005) and the dual model of the openEHR Foundation, which proposes open standards for Electronic Health Records (EHR) architecture and healthcare information. The dual model of the openEHR Foundation specifications is composed, on the first level, by a generic reference model and on the second by an archetype model that details the concepts and attributes. Two studies were conducted in this thesis: the first one refers to a set of demographic archetypes developed as a proposal representation of the demographic information, based on the reference model of the openEHR Foundation. The second study proposes a generic reference model, as an improvement of the openEHR specifications, to represent the concept of submission of claims, as well as a set of archetypes. Finally, a new architecture for building the TISS standard is proposed based on the dual model of the openEHR Foundation and envisioning a patient-centered EHR

Abstract:
Chapter VI describes specific evidence-based methods for managing cognitive load in verbal and pictorial information representations. According to the major forms of memory storage, there are verbal and pictorial representational modes, whereas according to major forms of sensory input, there are auditory and visual information modalities. The chapter will consider sources of cognitive load involving different modes and modalities of multimedia information presentations. When learners process text and visuals that could not be understood in isolation, the process of integrating verbal and pictorial representations is required for comprehension. When text and pictures are not appropriately located close to each other or not synchronized in time, integrating these referring sources of information may increase working memory load and inhibit learning. Instructional design techniques dealing with such split attention situations may enhance learning. Reducing split-attention in paper-based and on-screen text and graphics was one of the first and most commonly mentioned applications of cognitive load theory. Using dualmode presentations that involve different processing channels of human cognitive system is an alternative approach to dealing with split attention situations. This chapter discusses means for coordinating verbal and pictorial sources of information in space and time, eliminating redundant components of presentations, segmenting instructional presentations in units that could be processed with less cognitive load, and other techniques. The chapter also describes interactions between instructional efficiency of different formats of multimedia presentations and levels of learner expertise in specific task domains.
