Abstract:
The purpose of this study is: To find out how the technique of playing Gendang Bebano in accompanying the jogi dance in the wansendari art studio. The approach and type of research used by the researcher is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted at the Wansendari Art Studio, Batam City, so the population of this study were all members of the Wansendari Art Studio. While the samples of this study were members of the studio musicians, the head of the studio, the instructor of the studio as well as the head of culture in the city of Batam. The writing uses data collection techniques in the form of: observation to produce valid data regarding the technique of playing the Gendang Bebano in accompanying the jogi dance. Interview to get the results of research on the technique of playing Gendang Bebano in accompanying the jogi dance. Documentation for additional data in the form of photos, recordings and videos. The results of this study prove that the technique of playing the Gendang Bebano in the form of the body position of the drummers is sitting cross-legged and the drums are above the players' feet The Bebano of the drum is held by both players' hands and produces the sound of tak, pung, plang, tung. On the sound without using the index finger, middle finger, third finger, and little fingers, they are hit on the edge of the drum skin. The sound of pung uses the index finger, middle finger, third finger, and little finger but is hit in the middle area of the drum with the fingers in a straight position with the palm of the hand attached to the edge of the drum. In the plaang sound, the middle finger, third finger, and little finger are beaten on the edge of the drum but the palms are attached to the circumference of the drum. For the tung sound, use 4 straight fingers and hit in the middle of the drum.

Abstract:
This study aims to determine, describe, and analyze the development of the Barongan work of the Turonggo Laras group in Kendal Regency. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a musicological approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the development of working on Barongan Turonggo Laras music was in the form of adding western musical instruments, such as drums and keyboards in collaboration with gamelan. The use of the keyboard is intended as a filler for the main melody in campursari songs. This is because there are tones in the campursari song that does not exist on the gamelan instrument but exist on the keyboard. The addition of drums in the show is intended to lift the mood and strengthen the trance scene. The drum play tends to follow the dynamics of the kendang when accompanying the performance.

Abstract:
In the framework of the radioactive waste drum characterization using neutron coincidence counting, the Nuclear Measurement Laboratory of CEA Cadarache is studying plastic scintillators as an alternative to ideal but costly 3He gas proportional counters. Plastic scintillators are at least 5 times cheaper for the same detection efficiency, and in addition, they detect fast neutrons about three orders of magnitude faster than 3He detectors. However, they are sensitive to gamma rays, which implies the necessity to identify precisely gamma background sources that may affect the useful signal. This paper presents a detailed analysis of the gamma-ray spectrum of a radioactive waste drum containing glove box filters contaminated by plutonium dioxide. Gamma emissions accompanying inelastic scattering (n,n’) and (α,n) reactions that can lead to neutron-gamma coincidences parasitizing useful coincidences from plutonium spontaneous fissions are identified. Some of these parasitic gamma rays having energies up to several MeV, we plan to reject high-energy scintillator pulses with an electronics rejection threshold above 1 MeV, which should preserve the major part of useful fission neutron pulses.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTGong kebyar emerged in early 20th century and was initially an instrumental genre. In its later advancement, the ensemble became accustomed to accompanying dance compositions, which are decorated with miscellaneous dance improvisations corresponding to the characteristic style of gong kebyar. There are three types of Balinese drumming that are considered improvisational, in particular the styles that are played in the repertory of gamelan gong kebyar. Gamelan gong kebyar is the most popular and influential genre of twentieth century music developed in Bali. In gamelan baru, the function of the drum (in Bali it is called kendang) in the ensemble is more important than it was in older styles and it is considered to be the leader of the ensemble. Drummers are skilled musicians and usually teachers, who know all of the parts that are played by other instruments in the ensemble. Krumpungan, Cedugan, and Gupekan are examples of drumming style that gives incorporate the idea of improvisation, though in Bali we do not have a special term for improvisation. We do however have the same ideas and sense of the meaning of improvisation itself in the way some drumming is played spontaneously in the course of performance, by using drummer’s abilities to create spontaneously new pattern on stage. There are some important aspects that need to be underlined in creating those patterns, such as: melody accompaniment, dancer’s cues, good partnership (in krumpungan and cedugan), and the ability to lead the ensemble. Those aspects have the prominent role in the acheivement of drum improvisation in the performance. Drumming improvisation remains something that has to be learned more comprehensively in the future. It is still an abstract concept for many musicians as well as Balinese gamelan lovers. Keywords: improvisation, drumming, kendang, gong kebyar.

Abstract:
Kò séní m’èdè Àyàn Bí ení mú kò ̣ ̣ǹgó ̣ è ̣ lówọ́ No one understands the language of Àyàn Better than the drummer who holds the gong in his hand Yorùbá maxim From the Yorùbá oral historical, mythological, and ontological, abstract lines of reasoning, Àyàn is believed to be the first Yorùbá drum maker and drummer, who, after his death, was deified as the god of Drumming (Òrìsà ̣ Àyàn, or simply Àyàn). Hence, when an experienced Yorùbá drummer plays his drum masterfully, the elders with the drum speech discernable ears (òmò ̣ ràn) that hear the drumming, even from afar commend, “may Àyàn, ̣ the god of drumming prosper/ protect you!” (Àyàn ó gbè ó!). As among other Yorùbá deities (òrìsạ̀) that live in the spiritual realm in certain but uncommon natural environments (forests, trees, rivers, streams, and mountains, among others), Òrìsà Àyàn is thought to reside in wood (Vil ̣ - lepastour 2015, 3). For this reason, Òrìsà Àyàn is emblematized by the wood ̣ with which the body of the drum (ìlù) is carved. Similarly, this deity is eulogized as “the spirit who speaks out from inside his wooded abode” (Òrìsà ̣ gbé’nú igi fohùn), in reference to the log of wood with which the drums (ìlù) are carved. It is said that Òrìsà Àyàn particularly prefers that ìlù be carved ̣ with Cordia millenii (igi òmò ̣ ), a belief that gave birth to the Yorùbá saying, ̣ “out of the entire wood species of the forests is the preferred Cordia millenii, with which gbèdụ drum is carved” (Igi gbogbo ní ńbe ̣ ní’gbó, k’átó fi’gi òmò ̣ ̣ gbé ̣ gbèdụ). Because of his position as the patron deity of drumming, which 2 Oláwọlé Fámúlẹ̀ by extension is used to accompanying sacred rites in honor of virtually all the Yorùbá òrìsạ̀, Òrìsà Àyàn is thought to be their mouthpiece, as they all speak ̣ through the drums that he emblematizes. Another emblem of Òrìsà Àyàn that ̣ is even worshipped is a shallow hemispherical drum with a single fixed head, which is worn on the chest with a strap around the neck and beaten with leather straps held in each hand (gúdúgúdú ) (Bascom 1952, 4). The gúdúgúdú symbol of Òrìsà Àyàn also goes by the praise name (oríkì) “gúdúgúdú with its distinctive uneven and undulated back shape” (Gúdúgúdú, ab’è yìn jákan- ̣ jàkan). The component parts that formed this uneven and surged-back shape [of gúdúgúdú] include kúseré and apìràn. Kúseré is a circular metal object affixed onto the drum’s wooded base, and apìràn is an array of wooden pegs that hold the kúseré securely onto the base of the instrument. At the exoteric and practical level, Àyàn also refers to any Yorùbá traditional and professional drummer, who plays the drum (ìlù), often with the use of a gong (kòṇ̀ gó).̣ The Yorùbá professional drummers share the name àyàn with Òrìsà Àyàn since they are the human agents who play the drums (ìlù), ̣ emblem of Òrìsà Àyàn, and through which the deity speaks. The ̣ Yorùbá incantation “the day that the drummer drums with his gong/drumstick is the very moment that the Àyàn god of drumming speaks out that which is in his mouth” (Òòjó ̣ tí kòṇ̀ gó ̣ Àyàn bá f’ojú ba ìlù ni Òrìsà Àyàn ̣ ńpo ̣ t’enu rè ̣ ̣ sí’lè) ̣ best illustrates the interconnection of the drummers (àyàn) with god of drumming, Òrìsà Àyàn. As succinctly corroborated by Amanda Villepastour, “the ̣ drummer in action becomes Àyàn.” Another Yorùbá term for a drummer (àyàn) is onílù. 1 With their drumming (or drum music) that mimic the human speech, the Àyàn or Onílù verbalize words/speeches (òrọ̀ ) that is or are intelligible to the ears of their ̣ patrons, often the dance performers (oníjó). For that reason, ìlù, to the Yorùbá, is an instrument that acts as a speech surrogate (i.e., substitute). That the Yorùbá refer to ìlù as “the talking drum” underscores this assertion. In fact, they strongly believed that if handled by a skillful drummer (àyàn/onílù), ìlù, just like humans, can speak words or communicate effectively to those who understand the language of the drum. The Yorùbá phrase “a lifeless goat that speaks just like a human” (òkú-ewúré tíí fo ̣ ’hùn bí ènìyàn ̣ ), a euphemism for the goatskin fixed single- or double-headed hourglass drums that mimic human speech when drummed, is a testimony to ìlù as a true “talking drum.” Another Yorùbá saying that illustrates that ìlù is an instrument of language substitution is “that the gángan drum could speak in a human nasal tone of 1 Onílù is formed from two Yorùbá words oní and ìlù (literally, “owner of the drum” or “one who plays the drum”), a euphemism for the drummer. Thus, anybody that plays drum is an onílù. But those Yorùbá traditional professional onílù, like the dùndún and bàtá drummers, are specifically referred to as àyàn. Èdè Àyàn: The Language of Àyàn in Yorùbá Art and Ritual of Egúngún 3 voice is not without the help of the drummer’s own tip of the fingernails” (àti rán’mú gángan kò s’ẹ̀ yìn èékáná ̣ ). In Yorùbá traditional festivals, ritual performances, and religious practices in general, the role of àyàn whose drumming or drum music imitate and code the natural language (Yorùbá), cannot be overemphasized. The Yorùbá aphorism “without drum music, there is no way to celebrate” (láì sí’lù, taní jé ̣ s’eré òkúrùgbe!̣) is a testimony to the indispensable role of ìlù in the context of traditional Yorùbá visual and performance arts. A clear example is the Yorùbá art and ritual of Egúngún, the theme of this study. Paradoxically, many Yorùbá art scholars often make very little or no effort to explore the relevance of ìlù in their studies on Yorùbá visual culture, such as Egúngún. This has continued to make it become virtually impossible for a deeper understanding of Yorùbá art in particular and African art as a whole. Ironically, the same scholars prefer to invest their energy, searching outside of the art’s cultural origin to fulfil their primary goal of “appreciating” the African art, rather than searching within African culture, language and values, the very driving forces that gave rise to this art, and thus a catalyst to understanding it.2 It is on that note that I believe the question that scholars of African art should begin to ask themselves is: when will African art scholarship––unlike Western art studies that often demand intellectual rigor and professional thoroughness––rise above its present art “appreciating” status vis-à-vis African art? In my opinion, as this present study is aimed at confirming, the understanding of African art critically requires that scholars be fluent or at least confident in the reading, writing, and speaking of the language of the people whose art they study. Also heightening the problem of the lack of “understanding” of Yorùbá art is the very unique nature of it (as with other African art), in which an isolated work of art in context is a rarity. Thus, the present study examines the very indispensable roles of Àyàn drummers in the performance context of the annual Egúngún festival (odún Egúngún) in a Yorùbá community in Òkèigbó in Nigeria’s Ondo State. As a native speaker with access to Yorùbá philosophy, values and history, and who is fully aware of the fundamental importance of language in African art studies, I aim in this study to examine the mutual relationship existing between the Àyàn and Egúngún from the vantage point of the Yorùbá language, the medium through which the said Yorùbá philosophy, values and history are stored and expressed. It delves into the very root of Egúngún within the Yorùbá cultural context, where traditions and history are preserved and recorded not in the western-type of writing, but rather in the Yorùbá language, ritual performance and ceremonies. It is hoped that this study will facilitate a deeper understanding of Egúngún along with the 2 Personal communication with Professor Rowland Abíodún on April 2, 2017. 4 Oláwọlé Fámúlẹ̀ àyàn within the art and ritual performance context of the Odún Egúngún. The study illustrates the interconnection of the àyàn and Egúngún by first providing an overview of Yorùbá drums and their ritual contexts. This is followed by a close study of the Yorùbá ontological concept of Egúngún, one of the most valued patrons of Àyàn (the drummers), as an important form of Yorùbá religious beliefs and practices. Using the Egbé ̣ ̣ Òjẹ̀ ̣ (Cult of Egúngún) of the ancient Yorùbá town of Òkèigbó as a case study, the study concludes with an in-depth analysis of the role of Àyàn (Drummers) in Yorùbá art and ritual of Egúngún.

Abstract:
Abstract Based on the analysis of the results of combine harvester production tests and the long-term studies, carried out by the authors, the directions for increase in combine harvester productivity and in grain crop harvesting quality, are proposed. In three blocks of directions for increasing the combine harvester efficiency, a new direction of completing multifunctional harvesting units, joining together grain harvesting with simultaneous performance of one of the accompanying operations (stubble plowing, straw pressing, sowing catch crops, etc.), is found. The acquisition of multifunctional harvesting units is based on self-propelled, all-wheel-drive harvesters, trailed and mounted on a power unit such as “Palesse” (Belarus). The original unit can be completed on the basis of a “Penha” pull-type combine (Brazil). Among other directions of combine efficiency increasing, the observance of the rhythm and flow of the working process is substantiated, the attention is paid to the complex performance of the harvesting period. Attention is also paid to the obligatory coordination of the relationship between combine parameters and harvesting conditions: field size, crop yield, combine nominal performance, working speed, header cutting width. The following is an example of the effective operation of a rotary combine harvester in comparison with a beater-drum one and its significant influence on the winter wheat grain quality of strong varieties. It has been proved that due to reducing the grain injury by the rotary threshing-separating unit, post-harvest ripening and cleaning on thrashing floor, it is possible to increase the grain quality indicators by one class.

Abstract:
1. Seven upward eye velocity flocculus target neurons (FTNs) and two flocculus projecting neurons (FPNs) were studied before and after ipsilateral flocculus inactivation by injection of muscimol in the alert squirrel monkey. An additional seven FTNs and seven FPNs recorded from the corresponding FTN and FPN areas were recorded after injection. Response properties of FTNs and FPNs were characterized by visual-vestibular interaction paradigms and were compared before and after flocculus inactivation. 2. In FTNs the mean firing rate increased within 2-5 min after muscimol injection in the flocculus and reached a plateau level in approximately 10-20 min. The average mean firing rate for seven FTNs increased from 117 to 174 spikes/s, a net increase of 57 spikes/s (49%). Accompanying the large increase of the mean firing rate, a spontaneous nystagmus in the darkness developed with the slow phase directed upward and contralateral. 3. The firing rate modulation during visual following of a sinusoidal optokinetic drum (0.5 Hz) decreased within 2-5 min after muscimol injection in the flocculus and reached a level of 0 in approximately 10-20 min for all FTNs. After that, some cells remained unmodulated for the period of recording; other cells gradually reversed their phase and developed a modulation out of phase with drum velocity. The depletion of the visual following eye velocity signal on superior vestibular nucleus (SVN) FTNs accompanied a small but consistent decrease of visual following eye velocity amplitude. The average maximum decrease of eye velocity was 26 +/- 9% (mean +/- SD). 4. After flocculus inactivation, even though the modulation response at 0.5 Hz during visual following was abolished, a slow-component eye velocity signal with the same on direction was revealed by a constant-velocity optokinetic stimulus. It is concluded that there are at least two kinds of eye velocity signals during the optokinetic response. These signals are combined at the FTNs and are subsequently relayed to the oculomotor neurons. The source of the fast component is the flocculus, and the source of the slow component is another, as yet unidentified brain structure. 5. The effect of flocculus inactivation on the modulation amplitude during the vestibuloocular reflex (VOR) in darkness was variable: two cells did not change, two cells decreased, and three cells increased their amplitude. The response phase tended to move toward a phase lead, but the change was small. The effect on VOR suppression was more prominent.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 400 WORDS)

Abstract:
Aggressive behaviors often accompany dementia in the elderly, institutionalized patient. These may include any number of verbal or physical acts, and range from swearing, threatening, to harming self, others, or property. Identifying specific target behaviors for treatment is important in selecting the appropriate therapeutic option. The major neurotransmitters involved in aggression include gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and serotonin, which inhibit aggression, and dopamine, norepinephrine and acetylcholine, which increase it. Drug therapy for control of aggressive behaviors has traditionally included the antipsychotics and benzodiazepines. However, additional, newer therapies are also useful. Among these are the anticonvulsants carbamazepine and valproic acid, various beta-blocking agents, antidepressants, and buspirone. These medications may be needed when nondrug therapy for control of behavioral problems fails or is insufficient. Determining which behaviors are problematic and need treatment, knowing which medications are indicated for those problems, and noting contraindications for particular drug therapies will lead to the best therapeutic option for a given patient.

Abstract:
Background: Most studies of systematic drug repositioning have used drug-oriented data such as chemical structures, gene expression patterns, and adverse effect profiles. As it is often difficult to prove repositioning candidates’ effectiveness in real-world clinical settings, we used patient-centered real-world data for screening repositioning candidate drugs for multiple diseases simultaneously, especially for diabetic complications. Methods: Using the National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort (2002 to 2013), we analyzed claims data of 43,048 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (age ≥40 years). To find repositioning candidate disease-drug pairs, a nested case-control study was used for 29 pairs of diabetic complications and the drugs that met our criteria. To validate this study design, we conducted an external validation for a selected candidate pair using electronic health records. Results: We found 24 repositioning candidate disease-drug pairs. In the external validation study for the candidate pair cerebral infarction and glycopyrrolate, we found that glycopyrrolate was associated with decreased risk of cerebral infarction (hazard ratio, 0.10; 95% confidence interval, 0.02 to 0.44).Conclusion: To reduce risks of diabetic complications, it would be possible to consider these candidate drugs instead of other drugs, given the same indications. Moreover, this methodology could be applied to diseases other than diabetes to discover their repositioning candidates, thereby offering a new approach to drug repositioning.

Abstract:
One of the cancer prevention measures involves the correctionof the altered functions of the body’s regulatory systems. Manymalignant tumors are accompanied by the thyroid system dysfunction. The aim of our study was to reveal an effect of an iodine-containingdrug on the development of a tumor process in thelungs and the level of thyroid hormones in blood and the thyroidgland in male rats.Material and methods. Outbred white male rats were dividedinto the following groups: a group of intact animals (n=7); acomparison group – 5 weeks after an intravenous inoculationof sarcoma 45 (S45) at 2*106 (n=7); a main group – 5 weeks afteran intravenous inoculation of S45 and intragastric administrationof Stellanin at a single dose of 0.4 mg/kg within an hourafter the inoculation (n=10). RIA was used to determine levels offree (F) and total triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) in theblood serum and the thyroid.Results. The lungs of rats in the comparison group were totallyaffected by the tumor, and the thyroid gland showed asharp decrease in the levels of all hormone forms: T4 – by 18.7times, T3 – by 8.5 times, FТ4 – by 8.1 times, FТ3 – by 21.3 times, while only FТ4 and FТ3 decreased in blood by 2.5 and 1.5 times, respectively (p<0.05). No tumor lesions were detected in thelungs of rats of the main group, and the hormone levels exceededthe levels in the comparison group: in the thyroid, FT4by 3.7, T4 by 15.0 and T3 by 6.0 times; in blood, FT4 by 3.3 andFT3 by 1.7 times.Conclusions. The effect of Stellanin inhibiting malignantgrowth of S45 in the lungs is accompanied by the restoration oflow levels of thyroid hormones in the thyroid and blood.

Abstract:
Dermatocosmetics plays an important role in psoriasis and is used in various dosage forms, depending on the localization of the process and with various active molecules that provide keratolytic, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing effects. Pierre Fabre company has developed the Kertyol P. S.O. (shampoo and concentrate for topical use), which provides additional skin care for psoriasis.Material and methods. 28 patients with psoriasis vulgaris with localization of the process on smooth skin and scalp were under observation. In all patients, the process corresponded to mild severity (PASI < 10 points). On smooth skin, patients used calcipotriol (one time per day) and Kertyol P. S.O. The drug was applied twice a day (morning and evening) to psoriatic plaques on the body for 4 weeks. Shampoo Kertyol P. S.O. was used 3 times a week for 4 weeks in conjunction with a local drug (hydrocortisone one time per day). Research results. Against the background of therapy with localization on smooth skin, after one week, there was a positive trend in relation to peeling, infiltration and erythema: the PASI index decreased by 13.0 %, in 4 weeks by 67.2 %. When localized on the scalp after a week, the PASI index decreased by 21.4 %, to the end of the observation period by 80.9 %. After 4 weeks of therapy, with localization on smooth skin, the VAS decreased by 77.2 % points, with localization on the scalp by 73.1 %. In general, for the group, DIKZH improved by 73.7 %. All the patients noted good organoleptic properties of dermatocosmetics, ease of use.Conclusion. Kertyol P. S.O. can be recommended as an adjuvant therapy for psoriasis of smooth skin and scalp.

Abstract:
Mansi (Voguls) is one of the Ob-Ugric peoples of Western Siberia. Mansi have a lot of pho-noinstruments (including folk-music instruments): string (zither, lute, harp), shaman’s drum, hunter’s whistles, reindeer herder’s and household’s sounding items, children’s sound toys, etc. The most popu-lar of them is the zither named saŋkvəltap. This instrument is tuned over the diatonic pentachord: c-d-e-f-g or c-d-es-f-g, and there are other variants of tuning. When the traditional lifestyle still remained, the zither was played during rituals (such as a bear-feast, sacrifice ceremony, shamanic rite) and in other situations, accompanying dances and singing. Currently, the zither is played mainly by young musicians during the concerts. The purpose of the article is to describe the principles of the pitch organization of Mansi instru-mental music. The author had made recordings of playing of several old musicians, then the note tran-scription of that melodies has been made. The algorithm for the analysis is shown on the example of a single piece that is the personal melody of the deity in the image of a bear (“The Melody of the Clawed Old Man”). In the collection of analyzed tunes the following types of scales were found: 1) frequent: c-d-e-f-g, c-d-es-f-g, (c)-d-e-f-g, (c)-d-es-f-g; 2) rare: (c)-d-es-e-g, c-d-es-(f)-g, c-(d)-es-e-g. The tone functions can be such as a supporting tone, a semi-supporting tone, a non-supporting tone, an auxiliary tone. The tone functions are determined in each segment by the following signs: 1) accentuation; 2) location on the strong beat; 3) appearance on the boundaries of the composition units; 4) length of sounding; 5) multiple or frequent repetition. Semi-supporting tones are identified by the same criteria as the supporting ones, but they must have less ways of marking than the supporting tones. The auxiliary tones are rare, they don’t enter into the frame of melody and they are used only for variation. As a result of the analysis of the collection of tunes, the following patterns of the pitch-sound or-ganization of the instrumental music of Mansi are defined: 1) both of quarta and quinta modes are frequent; 2) the number of mode supporting tones is two or three, rarely – one or four, the semi-supporting tones are frequent; 3) the main supporting tones are at the highest and the lowest step of the scale. There is no strict correlation between the type of mode and the genre of the tune, but the following trend is noticeable. Melodies of deities and men’s dances in the modes of a quarta volume are performed more frequently. The epic or the song melodies and the melodies of women’s dances mainly sound in the modes of the quinta volume. On the basis of a comparison of several of the same name tunes (“Melody of the Old Man the Owl”), the following conclusion is drawn. The most important parameter of a pitch organization is the correlation of supporting tones and the sequence of appearance of typed intonational moves.

Abstract:
Injuries and intoxications are frequent cause of deaths in illicit drug users. Drug abuse is also associated with increase in infectious diseases and decreased level of immunity. Especially collective usage of syringes can be remarkably dangerous. It is difficult to diagnose the fungal infections in people whose immune systems are deficient and spreading of the pathogenic microorganisms through the bloodstream can lead to systemic infections which can cause rapid death. In this article, a case of a 45-year-old man is being presented who died due to illicit drug intoxication. Apparent cardiac involvement with systemic fungal infection has been determined at the autopsy. The case has been evaluated with the literature. The skin and cardiac findings of the case are both rare and educational. Besides, this report aims to draw attention to systemic infectious diseases that can be found at autopsies of persons who had used illicit drugs and it is intended to review the measures for the protection of the autopsy personnel.

Abstract:
We have reported that the divalent cation ionophore A23187, like the beta-adrenergic agonist isoproterenol, increased the force of contraction and rate of relaxation and shortened the duration of contraction of papillary muscles isolated from guinea pigs. A23187 produced a fall in resting tension and decreased the contracture tension of K +/- depolarized muscles, as did isoproterenol. In the present studies, isoproterenol produced a concentration-dependent, rapid, and sustained increase in the cyclic AMP (cAMP) content of papillary muscle. In contrast, A23187 had no detectable effect on cAMP levels, even in the presence of the phosphodiesterase inhibitor, papaverine. Neither drug, at concentrations maximal for contractile effects, altered cyclic GMP (cGMP). Isoproterenol increased the cAMP-dependent protein kinase activity ratio, whereas A23187 did not change the activity of this enzyme. However, both A23187 and isoproterenol produced a concentration-dependent increase in phosphorylase activity. Concentrations of A23187 or isoproterenol that enhanced contractility maximally increased the alkali-labile phosphate (by ca. 35%) but were without effect on the acid-labile, alkali-stable phosphate in the total acid precipitable protein. Contractile effects of isoproterenol, which reflect activated Ca2+ uptake, and the increase in phosphorylase activity produced by this agent are believed to be due to an increase in cAMP with subsequent activation of cAMP-dependent protein kinases and phosphorylation of proteins. A23187 may produce similar contractile effects without an increase in cAMP or cAMP-dependent protein kinase activity by activating other protein kinases and/or inhibiting phosphoprotein phosphatases, most likely by its effects on intracellular calcium.

Abstract:
The research is devoted to semantic changes undergone by adjectives accompanying abstract nouns in English and Russian. The article is aimed at proving that such adjectives lose their concrete lexical meaning and become intensifiers, that is undergo delexicalization. The nouns themselves serve as units of both lexical and syntactic context suppressing the elements of concrete meaning and enhancing the intensifying meaning. As a result of this process, synonymous relationship develops between adjectives which are not synonyms in other contexts. The process runs parallel in the two languages, with similar lexical sources, which makes it possible to assume that it is part of a general trend of semantic evolution from concrete to more abstract meanings.

Abstract:
Colonoscopy is one of the most widely-used procedures for diagnostic examination and treatment of colorectal diseases, either benign or malignant. Colonoscopy results are influenced by several factors such as current medical history, history of drug use, history of accompanying illnesses, and procedures performed. To analyze the factors which affectiverness the results of colonoscopy among the undergoing patients in Regional Public Hospital of Banyumas. The method used was observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. From the consecutive sample selection, it gave 76 respondents. The analysis was done using Univariate analysis with frequency distribution test, bivariate with chi square test and multivariate with multiple logistic regression test. Most of the respondents (51 respondents, 67.1%) aged 46-65 years and most of them were female (41 or 53.1%), they were dominated by high school graduates (56 or 73.7%), and the dominant occupation status was undemployed (31 or 40.8%). The results of the chi square test showed that there was an effect of current disease history, namely complaints / indications for colonoscopy examinations (p 0.011), drug use (p 0.021),accompanying disease history (p 0.003), and implementation procedures (p 0.000) on colonoscopy results. The results of multiple logistic regression showed that the factor that mostly influences the colonoscopy results was the length of preparation time (1-2 days of preparation). In conclusion current medical history, drug use history, accompanying medical history, and procedure administration significantly influence the colonoscopy outcome. And the most influencing factor is the length of preparation time (1-2 days of preparation).

Abstract:
Abstract The UN based framework for international drug control, described as the global drug prohibition regime, has displayed some capacity to evolve. This is the case both in terms of formal structures and accompanying norms. Recent moves by a small number of jurisdictions towards the legal regulation of cannabis for non-medical and non-scientific purposes has, however, highlighted the existence of systemic inertia in the face of unprecedented challenge. The resultant obstacles and accompanying recourse by states to creative legal argumentation contrasts with approaches found within the regime for environmental regulation and its underpinning Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). In this case a variety of structures and bodies characterise a more dynamic and responsive framework. It is argued here that while we should be alert to issue area specificity, much can be learned from MEAs and their regime evolution, in relation to governance structures and the use of Conferences of the Parties.

Abstract:
Pruritoceptive (dermal) itch was long considered an accompanying symptom of diseases, a side effect of drug applications, or a temporary sensation induced by invading pruritogens, as produced by the stinging nettle. Due to extensive research in recent years, it was possible to provide detailed insights into the mechanism of itch mediation and modulation. Hence, it became apparent that pruritus is a complex symptom or disease in itself, which requires particular attention to improve patients’ health. Here, we summarize recent findings in pruritoceptive itch, including how this sensation is triggered and modulated by diverse endogenous and exogenous pruritogens and their receptors. A differentiation between mediating pruritogen and modulating pruritogen seems to be of great advantage to understand and decipher the molecular mechanism of itch perception. Only a comprehensive view on itch sensation will provide a solid basis for targeting this long-neglected adverse sensation accompanying numerous diseases and many drug side effects. Finally, we identify critical aspects of itch perception that require future investigation.

ABSTRACT Many viruses, including coronaviruses (CoVs), depend on a functional cellular proteasome for efficient infection in vitro. Hence, the proteasome inhibitor Velcade (bortezomib), a clinically approved anticancer drug, shown in an accompanying study (M. Raaben et al., J. Virol. 84:7869-7879, 2010) to strongly inhibit mouse hepatitis CoV (MHV) infection in cultured cells, seemed an attractive candidate for testing its antiviral properties in vivo. Surprisingly, however, the drug did not reduce replication of the virus in mice. Rather, inhibition of the proteasome caused enhanced infection with lethal outcome, calling for caution when using this type of drug during infection.

Abstract:
Cinnarizine is an anti-histaminic drug and is mainly used to treat symptoms accompanying motion sickness like vomiting and dizziness. It has low and variable bioavailability due to its low water solubility. Cinnarizine (weakly basic drug) is formulated as raft forming chewable Tablets to allow its complete dissolution at the stomach to be absorbed at the upper part of small intestine. Raft forming chewable Tablets are formulated by direct compression method using sodium alginate or pectin as raft forming agents. The prepared Tablets were evaluated for their pre and post- compression parameters and they have shown desirable results regarding evaluation of hardness, thickness, % friability, weight variation, content uniformity, raft strength, weight and volume, in addition to in-vitro drug release. Out of all the prepared formulas F1 selected as the optimum formula with 488.1mg raft strength and 92.34% drug release after 24hrs that is promising for the formulation of the raft system. Abstract:
Traumatic axonal injury (TAI) is a major cause of death and disability among patients with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI); however, no effective therapies have been developed to treat this disorder. Neuroinflammation accompanying microglial activation after TBI is likely to be an important factor in TAI. In this review, we summarize the current research in this field, and recent studies suggest that microglial activation plays an important role in TAI development. We discuss several drugs and therapies that may aid TAI recovery by modulating the microglial phenotype following TBI. Based on the findings of recent studies, we conclude that the promotion of active microglia to the M2 phenotype is a potential drug target for the treatment of TAI.

In this correspondence we discuss the results of the meta-analysis by De Luca et al. (2012) in the Archives of Internal Medicine which found that late myocardial reinfarction and stent thrombosis is more common in drug-eluting stents than in bare-metal stents. We discuss the clinical implications of this paper for dual anti-platelet therapy which did not receive sufficient attention in the original publication and the accompanying editorial.

Abstract:
Methotrexate (MTX) is one of the main chemotherapeutic agents that has determined the high effectiveness of protocols for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and non-Hodgkin lymphomas. The reverse side of the high anti-tumor activity of MTX is the adverse reactions, which require accompanying preventive therapy. But even modern accompanying therapy in some cases does not avoid severe toxicity from the skin and mucous membranes, nervous system, kidneys, liver. MTX pharmacokinetics exhibits significant individual variability, which may be a reflection of genetic variability. Numerous pharmacogenetic studies have evaluated the effect of polymorphism of various genes involved in MTX metabolism on MTX pharmacokinetics and the development of toxic manifestations in order to improve patient outcomes and decrease drug toxicity. This review presents impact of key metabolic MTX genes (ATIC, DHFR, GGH, FPGS, MTHFR, MTR, MTRR, TYMS) and transporter proteins genes (ABCB1, ABCG2, ABCC2, ABCC4, SLC19A1, SLCO1B1) in the development of MTX side effects. Polymorphic markers in SLCO1B1 gene have the most influence with MTX pharmacokinetic.

Abstract:
The aim of the work is to provide a clinical assessment of the efficacy of therapy for accompanying orthodontic treatment of adolescents with chronic diseases of the upper part gastrointestinal tract. Material and methods. There were 109 adolescents at the age of 12–15 years with dental anomalies and gastroduodenal pathology (chronic gastritis, chronic gastroduodenitis, biliary dysfunction) were taken for orthodontic treatment. The state of oral hygiene, periodontal tissues and hard tooth tissues in the dynamics of orthodontic treatment was evaluated. We used the Silness-Loe and Stallard hygiene indexes, periodontal indexes – PMA, stomatorrhagia, Schiller-Pisarev, dental calculus, and calculated the reduction of caries. Results. Phased application of accompanying therapy (a calcium preparation with vitamin D3 and trace elements (Calcemin), magnesium (Magne B6), an immunostimulating drug of bacterial origin (Imudon) for the orthodontic treatment of adolescents with chronic pathology of the digestive tract shows an anti-inflammatory and caries static effect.

Abstract:
Diabetes melitus is one of the deadliest diseases in the world. Until now, the incidence and the mortality rate due to diabetes melitus is still very high. To determine the survival of diabetes melitus patients, the significant factors that affect must be obtained by applying Cox Proportional Hazard regression method. The purpose of this study is to determine the chances of probability of diabetes melitus patients and to determine the significant factors that affect on the survival of diabetes melitus patients. The variables used in this study are the length of time of inpatient of diabetes melitus patient in RSUD Wangaya as dependent variable, while age, gender, genetic, blood glucose status, accompanying disease, pain, diabetes drug and insulin, and body mass index as independent variable. Through the analysis of this study we obtained the significant factors that affect the survival of diabetes melitus patients are sex, blood glucose status, and accompanying diseases.

"Radicals from one-electron reduction of nitro compounds, aromatic N-oxides and quinones: the kinetic basis for hypoxia-selective, bioreductive drugs." Abstract:
Drugs based on nitroarene, aromatic N-oxide or quinone structures are frequently reduced by cellular reductases to toxic products. Reduction often involves free radicals as intermediates which react rapidly with oxygen to form superoxide radicals, inhibiting drug reduction. The elevation of cellular oxidative stress accompanying oxygen inhibition of reduction is generally less damaging than drug reduction to toxic products, so the drugs offer selective toxicity to hypoxic cells. Since such cells are resistant to radiotherapy, these bioreductive drugs offer potential in tumour therapy. The basis for the selectivity of action entails kinetic competition involving the contesting reaction pathways. The reduction potential of the drug, radical pKa and nature of radical/radical decay kinetics all influence drug activity and selectivity, including the range of oxygen tensions over which the drug offers selective toxicity. These properties may be quantified using generation of radicals by pulse radiolysis, presenting a physicochemical basis for rational drug design.
