Abstract:
The present study was conducted in Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka, India during 2019 to investigate amount of drudgery faced by agricultural labourers. Primary data collected for 13 selected farm operations from randomly selected 200 (144 men and 56 women) agricultural laborers using structured interview schedule for assessing drudgery perceived by them in performing these 13 operations. The results revealed that women labourers were perceived more drudgery in farm operations as compared men labourers. Women labourers perceived weeding, stubble collection and pesticide application were highest drudgery prone activities whereas men labourers perceived weeding, stubble collection and harvesting were highest drudgery prone activities. Out of thirteen selected farm activities, seed treatment was significantly lowest drudgery prone and weeding was the highest drudgery prone activity for both men and women labourers in the study area. Experience, family size and duration of employment were found to have significant and negative relationship with average drudgery and age & income were positively related with average drudgery. The drudgery among both men and women labourers can be reduced by gaining work experience, using ergonomically refined tools and proper management of employment pattern, duration and income.

Abstract:
The novels, poems and journalism of Ina Seidel and Vicki Baum were part of that everyday popular literature read and enjoyed by an international audience throughout the years of the Weimar Republic, the Third Reich and beyond. Their wide distribution and popular themes ensured that they reached a diverse public, but their publishers aimed their attentions at that female readership whose buying-power and literary tastes were now acknowledged as a significant market-factor. Both authors recognised their powerful position and took upon themselves the responsibilities, with which they believed they were thus endowed, to enlighten, educate and inform. They wrote from a view of themselves as creative artists with particular literary skills but, above all, as women. Understanding ‘womanhood’ as their primeval inheritance, they saw a woman’s physical powers of generation and nurture as part of the order of the natural universe, uniting them with other female beings. But ‘womanhood’ also had symbolic and transcendent implications, linking humanity not only with the earth from which it sprung and to which it would return but also with the infinite cosmos beyond. The present thesis argues that this viewpoint was encouraged by personal and family histories but also by the social climate of Weimar. Choosing political irresponsibility and creative freedom, both women were content to consider themselves as alienated from a contemporary world they found in many ways distasteful, while continuing to expoit the advantages and opportunities it offered for career-success. They turned popular intellectual currents to their advantage, making domestic narratives and theatrical melodramas from a diversity of sources, exploiting current enthusiasms for the dramatic arts to demonstrate their views of the world which surrounded them. They also offered their readerships ideas of better, even utopian, social orders with historical, philosophical or anthropological antecedents. Their ideas of a better world and a woman’s place within it, shared with their vast and diverse popular, and international, readership, eased rather than challenged the ideological rise to dominance of National Socialism.

Abstract:
Work organisation has rarely been examined in collective nurseries as a means of understanding working conditions and the issues involved in care work. This comparative research on socially differentiated nurseries is being carried out within the Val de Marne Department as part of a CIFRE grant. This thesis is based on an ethnographic study, which aims to grasp and understand the issues that lead to absenteeism among childcare workers in collective nurseries. We examined all aspects of childcare assistants' day-to-day workload. This allowed us to show how work organisation produces contradictions and contradictory injunctions. We were able to highlight the informal standards that compete with the mission. Nevertheless, childcare assistants carry out their tasks, whilst navigating between constraints and the involved workload. Through analysis, we were able to show the forms of satisfaction and gratification, which provides concrete evidence of the affective component that comes into play. Yet this finding does not prevent the effects their work is having on the physical and psychological state of these women, with the strain of their work even intruding into their private lives. The comparative analysis showed the construction of differentiated practices among the childcare assistants, due to the various interacting elements. The interactions of the auxiliaries, the equipment, the organisational configuration and the children's social class produce more pedagogical work for the children, who have a better grasp of the norms within the community. Finally, we interpreted the different dimensions that lead to absenteeism, revealing how the organisational context and the working conditions are to be taken into account

Our interest for the family is not recent. Being strictly this city agricultural and the occurrences above concentrate itself among young belonging to rural workers' families, this research search to know as the those workers' affective interactions are given in the work and in the family and that consequences have in the behavior of its members. For so much, we leaned on in the theoretical humanists, establishing a new perspective to see this subjective phenomenon to the empiric observation, collecting data through non directive interviews accomplished with the parents. We ended that the families, in its structured of non conventional form majority, not always they get to contribute for the development affective/emotional of its children. The loss of structure of the adults' personality that they head some families, the use of alcohol for these and the violence at home, they are sources for the adolescents to turn themselves marginal. The research showed although families better structured, they demonstrate its affectivity through material rewards, they worry about the youths' integration in the work however they don't have a project that facilitates the development affective/emotional of its youths. We postulated that urges a social political plan that describes the parents in the difficult task as educating its children.

Abstract:
This thesis works towards deconstructing stereotypical images of Indigenous women that frequent the pages of popular literature. It calls attention to the ideological foundation of Euro-Canadian literature, which is informed by a White-christian-patriarchy. That literature, as an institution of the Euro-Canadian nation, propagates images of Indigenous women as Indian princesses, squaw drudges, suffering helpless victims, tawny temptresses, and loose squaws. Consequently, Euro-Canadian literature imprisons us in images that foster both racist and sexist stereotypes and that encourage violence against us. Margaret Laurence's short story "The Loons" and William Patrick Kinsella's "Linda Star" provide illuminating examples of some of those images. While these writers do not represent all non-Indigenous people who write about Indigenous women, both of these writers are extremely popular Canadian writers whose stories are often read in elementary schools, high schools, and universities. At the centre of this thesis is Maria Campbell's semi-autobiographical Halfbreed. Campbell's Halfbreed significantly challenges Euro-Canadian literature's White-christian-patriarchal ideology by contextualizing the narrative in an Indigenous-gynocratic ideology. Her book destabilized White-Euro-Canadian liberals' complacency when, as an indigenous woman, Campbell named Euro-Canadians oppressors and identified Euro-Canadian power structures that illegally, unjustly, and intolerably imposed on her people's way of life. This thesis concludes that Campbell's Halfbreed encouraged many Indigenous people to appropriate the White-Euro-Canadian colonizer's English language to write ourselves out of oppression by re-claiming our self--which is ideologically rooted in autochthonous and gynocratic cultures.

Abstract:
In the late 1400’s, Leonardo da Vinci advised his future readers to study the science of machines to reduce the burden (drudgery) on humanity. Today, the question remains—what technologies can best meet the needs of mankind? This paper will outline the ability of the discipline of mechanical engineering to satisfy a spectrum of these needs and its potential to match the excitement and vitality of its neighboring disciplines (electronics, computer science, etc.). First, a representative selection of needs will be described along with a listing of technologies (present and future) that may be associated with the discipline of mechanical engineering. Then, a matrix of these needs and technologies will be used to establish the relative importance of the discipline’s development capacity and to prioritize five possible future areas for development of multi-disciplinary programs. Having done so, an example of a near-term utilization of these technologies (fully integrated and cost effective fettling cells) will be described which could dramatically reduce human drudgery associated with value-added manufacturing.

Abstract:
Cotton is one of the hugely grown commercial crops in India, mainly in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Provisional data from the Meeting of the COCPC (2021), says that India stands first in the world in acreage with 120.69 Lakh Hectares area under cotton cultivation i.e., around 36% of world area of 333 Lakh Hectares. India is in the top position in the world with an estimated production of 362.18 lakh bales during the cotton season 2021-22 i.e., 23 per cent of the world’s cotton production of 1555 lakh bales. Telangana, the study area produced the highest cotton in South India region i.e., 66.45 lakh cotton bales in 2021-22 season, 14.63 per cent higher than the previous season. This shows the immense potential of the cotton production both in terms of employment and economy. ILO (2019) highlighted that cotton farming is one of the most challenging and labour - intensive activities. Lakhs of migrant and bonded labourers, even children and adolescents are being involved, sometimes as unpaid and invisible labour. Women are majorly involved in cotton picking, which is one of the labour - intensive activity in cotton farming. Despite these problems, mechanization is still lagging in cotton picking activity, which causes lot of drudgery and musculo-skeletal issues among them. This can in turn influence the work efficiency of the labour. Though there are cotton picking machines available in the market, farmers and farm labourers do not purchase and use them as they are unaffordable in price; unaware of the machinery and not sure of its efficiency. With these insights, the current study made an attempt to analyse the drudgery reduction among farm women by using a mechanized cotton picker. The study was conducted on ten farm women involved in cotton picking at Lillipur village of Maheswaram mandal, Telangana. Results showed that most of the sample were having a work experience between 6 - 9 years, worked for 4 - 8 hours per day in the picking season. The perceived exertion of work stress by all the sample was ‘very difficult’ while practicing the traditional method of cotton picking. However, it was ‘neutral’ for almost 70 per cent of the sample during the usage of hand operated cotton picker. There was a reduction in drudgery index in improved method (275.7+0.7) when compared to traditional method (276.2+0.5). The parameters related to physiological workload like resting, working and recovery heart rate, CCW, CCR etc., also showed positive changes by using improved cotton picking method. This study, through its results proved that increase in efficiency, drudgery reduction, saving time and effort of the labour can be done by adapting mechanization in farming activities. The results give an indication that taking up such small mechanization measures can surely help the farming community in a long run.

Abstract:
Abstract In the field of drilling automation, most attention is usually focussed on the automating the mechanical side of the business and yet vast amounts of time and energy are spent by well engineers on designing and executing wells that may involve redesigns during the execution of the well due to subsurface uncertainty. This effort involves many people in the organisation, creates large amounts of documents and data that usually reside in different silos. The effort involved in pulling the right data together from different sources and checking that it's correct involves a lot of drudgery, hence it called be a ‘Cinderella’ task. There is a maxim that says that "If you can't measure you can't manage", but it's equally true that "if you can't analyse your measurements effectively and efficiently then you can't optimize", either for ROP or energy efficiency. This paper discusses the essential requirements for workflow optimization and drilling advisory systems, both as a business case in itself, but also as a reassuring steppingstone to full drilling automation. Significant advances in AI and Cloud Computing in the last decade have led to the ability to better automate the workflow process and allow real-time drilling advisory systems that allow a human-in-the-loop to react to and modify the drilling process. The essential parts of such are a workflow/optimisation system, no matter how good the AI, is that it should be intuitive, easy to use, vendor neutral, have robust data cleansing, be backed by 24/7 support, be customisable to the particular needs of the operation and flexible enough to work on different platforms yet allow expansion as new requirements are added. Operators are consistently wanting to centralise, then standardise, data flows for greater automated analysis and management. Using such a system, ROP improvements of over 18% have been seen in land operations, flat time reductions of 20% have been seen on offshore wells, weight to weight connection times have been reduced by over 35%, costly trips out of hole have been avoided due to MWD failure by directly comparing hole depth with offset well data in real time. With cloud-enabled, real-time AI, there is currently no limit on how ‘joined-up’ the drilling process can be, from rig scheduling through to production. Once confidence is gained by operators with drilling advisory systems and data quality then the next steps would be to hook these systems directly to drive rigs and tools with the human now as the monitor.

Abstract:
Abstract A graphical method is proposed for removing the “drudge work” of looking up property values and solving the conservation equations and second law in an Applied Thermodynamics course. The vehicle used is VisSim simulation software. The method requires the student to perform the thermodynamic analysis and set up the equations, but the computer finds the property values and solves the equations. This concept allows the student to explore various aspects of the topics covered in such a course, including power and refrigeration cycles, mixtures and psychrometrics, and combustion and equilibrium. Substantial design type problems can be solved easily, as can complicated analyses that are too difficult and time consuming for traditional solution methods.
