Full textThe thesis is in candidacy for a scientific degree of candidate of technical sciences in specialty 05.13.05 – computer systems and components. – National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", Kharkiv, 2019. The thesis solves the problem of developing methods for processing and transmitting data for the locomotive driver's information support subsystem. Based on the study of modern methods and means of processing and transmitting data on railway transport, it is established that there is a contradiction between the increase in the speed and intensity of railway traffic, the increase in the number of emergency areas, the complexity of the railway transport management system, the increase in the requirements for railway transport safety and the applied mathematical apparatus and technologies of coding / decoding. The choice of technology of mathematical formalization based on queuing networks and neural networks is justified. A conceptual model of the wireless segment of the locomotive driver's information support subsystem has been developed, which is built using 4G technology and takes into account the QPSK modulation type and the interleaving procedure for frame transmission to reduce the probability of erroneous reception while ensuring a high data rate. A mathematical model of the process of transmitting video data over a physical distributed uplink channel that takes into account the peculiarities of video data transmission in accordance with the LTE standard under dynamic conditions of the railway main line is developed and allows to estimate a wide range of robabilitytemporal characteristics of the video data transmission process in the locomotive driver's information support subsystem. A mathematical model of access control to the segment of a locomotive driver's information support subsystem has been developed, which takes into account the peculiarities of video data transmission in accordance with the LTE standard in the dynamic conditions of the railway line. The procedure for noiseless decoding of streaming video in the wireless 4G network segment of the locomotive driver’s information support subsystem is improved. It allows to increase efficiency in data transfer, to reduce the total number of calculations during decoding and to release the computing resources of the computerized system. An intelligent system for monitoring the state of dangerous sections of the railway using an adapted convolution neural network has been developed, which makes it possible to increase the reliability of the recognition of dangerous situations at railway crossings and inform the driver in the event of a critical situation. Practical recommendations as for the developed methods application are substantiated.

Full textLong-term Supply Chain Capacity Planning (SCCP) aims to define the plan of all actions to perform that will shape the available and required capacity of supply chains over several years. When performing long-term SCCP, companies are confronted with a multitude of decision options and uncertainty sources as well as a highly dynamic supply chain environment. Each company configures its own Decision Support System (DSS) to perform SCCP, composed of a decision-making process, an information system, and people. Companies can take advantage of existing decision-making processes and information systems to build their own SCCP DSS. However, the literature review on existing decision-making processes and information systems for SCCP revealed the following three major limitations: first, existing solutions are time-consuming. This constrains companies to consider only a small number of alternative scenarios associated with decision options and uncertainty sources. And it makes it difficult to keep SCCP analysis up to date. Second, existing solutions are designed to perform SCCP analysis on predefined supply chains without considering the whole set of potential alternative configurations. Third, decision-makers are reluctant to accept optimization methods because of the lack of visibility of the analysis leading to the recommended solution. Therefore, this thesis describes a new SCCP DSS proposal aiming to overcome these limitations. It is composed of an SCCP decision-making process proposal relying on an SCCP information system proposal. The SCCP decision-making process proposal contains two processes: implementation and routine. The SCCP information system proposal contains two software programs: a computational software program and a business intelligence software program. The SCCP DSS proposal was validated by undertaking two industrial pilot projects with two industrial partners. The following two major benefits have been confirmed: first, SCCP analysis can be performed in encompassing a multitude of decision options and uncertainty sources at a pace allowing updates in accordance with the pace of supply chain changes. Second, it provides decision-makers with the visibility and understanding of the impacts of their respective decisions and uncertainty sources which bolster their confidence in the decisions they can make. Finally, avenues for future research have been identified, including an opportunity for designing a hyperconnected SCCP DSS that automatically gathers information and triggers decision-making meetings when necessary rather than on a predefined frequency

Full textThe brainstem respiratory centers are in charge of breathing regulation. Their output is transmitted to the inspiratory muscles. Respiratory drive monitoring can be performed using the electrical activity of the diaphragm (Eadi) or the measurement of the occlusion pressure at 100 ms (P0.1). Monitoring these parameters should allow improving the delivered ventilator assist. Few data regarding the normal values of Eadi and P0.1 and their variations in non-physiological situations are available. The question of the reliability of the bedside measurements also remains opened. This thesis project aimed at increasing our knowledge on Eadi and P0.1 measurements. The studies performed allowed 1. better characterizing Eadi and P0.1 normal values in physiological and non-physiological situations. 2. demonstrating that Eadi maximal value well reflects inspiratory drive intensity, 3. demonstrating that Eadi monitoring provides additional information compared to respiratory profile and inspiratory effort monitoring, 4. demonstrating that Eadi and P0.1 are well correlated, 5. demonstrating that Eadi can be used to improve the ventilator settings during pressure support and that this strategy allows improving patient-ventilator synchrony. 6. showing that the P0.1 variations are well reflected by the P0.1 measured by the ventilators, 7. demonstrating that overall the P0.1 measured by the ventilators underestimate the reference P0.1. Additional studies in more patients and studies designed to assess the impact on patient’s outcome of using Eadi and P0.1 monitoring should be perform before recommaending these monitorings as a standard procedure in ventilated patients

The design of ontologies is largely influenced by the ontology designers’ backgrounds, their interpretation of the domain and targeting application. For that reason, when two organizations adopting ontologies need to interact, a common understanding of the domain is not guaranteed due to the heterogeneity of their ontologies. Ontology (or schema) matching, as a process of establishing correspondences between entities of two different ontologies (or schemas), known as alignment, is seen as a solution in overcoming the heterogeneities that are found. Despite the existence of automatic matching algorithms, they generate incomplete, incorrect and contradictory alignments; preventing their direct application in ontology-based interoperability scenarios. In fact, the ontology matching results obtained with automatic systems are below the requirement for certain ontology mediation tasks, such as query and data transformation between systems; thus, it requires the expert intervention. The goal of this work is to propose a method that assists the expert in correcting and completing automatically-generated alignments, towards information-integration suitable alignments. The correction and completion process consists in identifying and resolving the matching scenarios that need a contextualized, semantic and often human-based decision: accepting or rejecting correspondences. Because the decisions have influence in other scenarios, both the acceptance and rejection correspondence decisions are considered in the process, influencing and helping in resolving other scenarios. For that, declarative rules are defined in order to capture the conditions in which a correspondence requires a human-based decision A rule-based Decision Support System (DSS) applies these rules in order to reduce the number of user decisions, both by (i) allowing different participation levels (ranging from automatic to humandependent) and (ii) propagating the decisions to other situations. To provide a proof of concept for the architecture, as well as a testbed for the experiments, a working prototype that embodies the theoretical research is designed and implemented, offering an intuitive, easy to use and clear graphical interface, to assist the users deciding. The prototype is also applied to a business case. The prototype evaluation is performed using available online data sets and the experiment results are evaluated qualitatively through standard analytical metrics. The experiments show that the accuracy attained with the DSS improves (i) regardless of the operation mode and (ii) as the participation of the expert in the process increases.

Full textThe concept of smart city is emerging as a key strategy to tackle the problems generated by the urban population growth and rapid development. It is widely recognised that Information and Communications Technology (ICT) play a key role in addressing some of the urban societal challenges such as improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Although there are various ICT tools providing intelligence and services relating to energy consumption and monitoring processes, they mostly tend to work in isolation. Therefore, this paper presents the outcomes and impacts of the concept of DAREED which aims to deliver an integrated ICT service platform to drive energy efficiency and low carbon activities at neighbourhood, city and district levels. Furthermore, the research highlights the need for ICT-driven policy making using platforms such as DAREED in the context of e-Government. This paper contributes to the current understandings of e-Government literature in terms of how ICT can help public authorities and stakeholders such as policy makers to achieve and drive energy efficiency. From a practical stance, the paper offers valuable insights to public administrations on how ICT can be used to address pressing societal challenges such as efficient energy use and facilitate better policy making.
