Abstract:
This paper is a discussion of the potential of using specific drama techniques during English lessons at a Japanese private senior high school. The techniques in focus are process drama and specifically teacher in role (TiR). TiR is a specific technique that is often used in the broader area of process drama. Process drama concerns itself more with the experiential rather than the performance aspect of drama. In it, a teacher, or facilitator, goes into role with the participants in the co-construction of extended role-plays and dramas. Such methods have been used in English language teaching by many practitioners. The methods are discussed in this paper, with the focus on their suitability for teaching in a Japanese senior high school.

Abstract:
Summary: Considering the drama technique as appropriate in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL), in our paper, we have examined and analysed teachers' attitudes towards this technique. We wanted to find out if the respondents think that the drama technique is useful in teaching foreign languages and if they use it in their classrooms. The research was conducted in Italy during the finals of the second international competition in English - Hippo, on a specific sample of English teachers (N = 47) from eight countries whose students were finalists in the competition. A non-experimental descriptive method - survey, has been used. To collect data, we have constructed a questionnaire in English, which consists of three parts: 1) respondents' sociodemographic data; 2) a scale for measuring attitudes towards drama technique, divided into two subscales - one measures the assessment of drama technique advantages (contains six statements), and the other the assessment of its disadvantages (three statements); and 3) assessment of the use of drama activities in teaching (one statement). The respondents rated the degree of agreement with each of the statements based on a five-point Likert scale, from 1 - I strongly disagree to 5 - I strongly agree. The results analysis has indicated that the teachers, mentors of students who have achieved exceptional success placing in the finals of the international English language competition, consider the drama helpful technique and use it in EFL teaching. Namely, there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the use of drama technique in EFL teaching and the assessment of the advantages of this technique (r = .49; p <.001), as well as the general attitude towards drama technique (r = .51; p <.001). Our research can be useful to EFL teachers. It can encourage them to apply drama techniques in practice as much as possible, enhancing students' motivation to acquire a foreign language more successfully. Theoretically, our research contributes to the methodology of foreign language teaching and psychology of learning, since motivation is an important psychological factor in EFL learning and teaching. The paper can be helpful to future researchers in these fields.

Abstract:
Purpose: Due to the emergence of COVID -19, the transition from offline to online teaching also changes how drama techniques work. Specifically, the digital drama technique was used to teach English, when regular classes were almost impossible. There seems to be very little, if any, research on digital drama techniques, especially in the Vietnamese context. Consequently, this study examines how the digital drama technique affects Vietnamese students learning English as a foreign language (EFL). Additionally, the differences and similarities between teachers’ and students’ perceptions of the technique’s impact are examined. Methodology: The study used a quantitative approach. A survey was used to collect data from 1207 students and 69 teachers. Findings: The survey revealed that the technique was helpful for EFL students’ learning. The participants mostly perceived the positive impacts of the technique. However, differences in perception between teacher and student were discovered. The students considered it beneficial for improving their writing and reading skills while teachers perceived this technique as helpful in exploring new creative ideas. Practical implications: The technique was approved as useful for language teaching and learning. English teachers are encouraged to use this technique in their teaching in practice. Contribution to literature: The study becomes a good source for further research to build a more profound theoretical framework. More researchable ideas related to this unique online teaching technique are suggested to enrich the literature in this field.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is an analysis of <Good bye Day 420>, <We are always the first>, <Uglak Daglak>, and <Cheong-yeon> aired on Now Jeju TV. Now Jeju TV is a subsidiary broadcasting station of JIBS, which is broadcast nationwide and provides various tourism information about Jeju Island for the ‘land people’ of Korea. JIBS produces dramas or through outsourcing companies with sponsors in Jeju Island, and presents them through Now Jeju TV’s web platform and television broadcasts. As the purpose of establishing Now Jeju TV is to promote Jeju, The dramas that are aired also serve as a function of promoting Jeju. Now Jeju TV's dramas are unique in that they are a combination of tourism promotion and drama, and are rare in that they are self-produced dramas by local broadcasting stations. The characteristics of Now Jeju TV dramas according to the analysis are as follows. First, it is a sense of difference that occurs when a web drama is edited into a TV drama version. The technique of omission and coincidence that gives speed to the narrative in the web drama version appears as a lack of probability in the TV drama version. On the other hand, if the plot is formed in an omnibus format or If a plot is constructed with an emphasis on probability in web dramas, TV dramaticization of web dramas is naturally formed. Second, the protagonists are all ‘land person’, every text shows the beautiful landscape of Jeju following their eyes. However, Since specific tourist attractions are not emphasized, they are not enough as tourism promotional materials. While land people's stories are considered as important, the language or culture of Jeju is marginalized or removed. Third, every text has PPL scene of sponsors. In Now Jeju TV, PPL is arranged to suit the progress of the plot. This is because the sponsor is determined from the planning process, so the drama is produced with PPL in mind from the beginning.

Abstract:
Kata-kata kunci: partisipasi kelas, kegiatan berbicara, teknik drama Abstract Many a times the teaching of English language falls short of fulfilling its goals. Even after years of English teaching, the learners do not gain the confidence of using the language in and outside the class. Real communication involves ideas, emotions, feelings, appropriateness and adaptability. The conventional English class hardly gives the learners an opportunity to use language in this manner and develop fluency in it. Thus, the main purpose of the language teaching course, i.e., developing skills in communication, is unfortunately, neglected. An attractive alternative is teaching language through drama because drama provides practical knowledge of the expressive and communicative powers of a language. In other word, it integrates verbal and non-verbal aspects of communication, thus bringing together both mind and body, and restoring the balance between physical and intellectual aspects of learning. Furthermore, it fosters self-awareness (and awareness of others), self-esteem and confidence; and through this, motivation is developed. This article is aimed to look at the drama techniques and their activities that can motivate students to speak. Keywords: class participation, speaking activities, drama technique

The element that the study finds is how the students intersect and understand the culture's meaning. The outcome indicates that none of the students state a derogatory comment about the use of techniques for local history drama. Sixty-five (86.67 percent) students were highly involved in the students' range of 66-80 percent. The highest score was 79, categorized as highly interested, and the lowest score was 61, categorized as an interesting group, based on the student scores on the questionnaire (see appendix 6 ). It is proposed that learning English through the use of local history drama could present the understanding of their cultural value as a pride in their life to the students.

Abstract:
"The White-Haired Girl" stands as a classic in Chinese opera, garnering widespread attention for its profound themes, unique national style, and distinctive era-specific backdrop. Academic research on "The White-Haired Girl" often focuses on its cultural significance, artistic features, and its status in the history of Chinese opera development. However, there is a scarcity of studies examining the work from the perspective of the application of Wagner's leitmotif technique. Wagner's operatic ideas and his leitmotif technique set new standards for the integration of opera music and drama, significantly influencing the development of later operas. How "The White-Haired Girl" employs similar techniques, and the effects thereof is a question worth exploring. An in-depth analysis of the musical composition of "The White-Haired Girl" reveals Wagnerian influences in the combination of music and drama and the use of leading motifs. The development of its musical themes and symphonic concepts aligns with Wagner's artistic vision, particularly in the use of leitmotifs, which not only reflect the psychological states of the characters and the dramatic emotional shifts but also drive the plot forward. As an important means of integrating music and drama, the application of leitmotif technique in "The White-Haired Girl" demonstrates how Chinese opera creators have combined Western operatic techniques with Chinese cultural elements to create an opera art form with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
