Abstract:
This study determines the effect of neighbourhood characteristics on residents’ satisfaction in Doya area of Bauchi metropolis to reveal the significant relationship of the effect. Field data were gathered using a structured, close-ended questionnaire containing 5 Likert scales administered to the household head of Doya area of Bauchi metropolis using simple random sampling. A total number of one hundred and twenty-five (125) valid questionnaires were used for the analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (Mean score and frequency table) and linear regression method through SPSS. The study found that electricity, water, drainage, availability of schools, availability of hospital, economic activities, neighbourhood security, sanitary services, recreational facilities and accessibility are factors affecting resident’s satisfaction. It further found that satisfaction with proximity to work, water, and educational facilities were striking the highest mean score. Finally linear regression model reveals that neighbourhood condition significantly affects resident’s satisfaction. The study suggests a need for the government to provide more social amenities in the study area. Proper routine management of social amenities should be done to enhance the resident’s satisfaction in the study area.

Abstract:
Groundwater development is very important in the survival of the human. This research was carried out in a newly developing area with population increase and agricultural development hence the need for this study. The objective is to carry out a geophysical investigation, delineate aquiferous zones, and groundwater potential for the study area. An electrical resistivity method for groundwater investigation using the Vertical electrical sounding (VES) technique was adopted. The survey involved three profiling and seven VES points using the Schlumberger configuration to delineate the subsurface lithologies and aquiferous zones within the study area. It was observed that the study area is composed of highly weathered and fractured rocks; hence there is a tendency for groundwater migration and accumulation in the weathered fractured horizons. Two geo-electric sections and a basement map were produced. The area generally showed four to five lithology units; which include topsoil, laterite, weathered basement, fractured basement, and the fresh basement. The thickness of the overburden ranges from 0 - 12.8m and the saturated layers have resistivity values ranging from 19.7Ωm - 849.8Ωm with depths to water range of 10.5m – 61.1m respectively. VES points 2, 4, and 5 showed good potential for groundwater with aquiferous unconfined zones ranging depths of about 45.0m - 60.0m. It was also deduced that areas, where thick overburden complemented with the presence of weathering and fractures within the study area, are zones for groundwater accumulation.

Abstract:
This study presents a list of land snails and slugs found on limestone hills in the District of Bau, the state of Sarawak in Malaysian Borneo. Systematic and random sampling for land snails was conducted at eight limestone outcrops, namely, Gunung Stulang, Padang Pan, Gunung Kapor, Gunung Lobang Angin, Gunung Doya, Gunung Batu, Bukit Sekunyit and Gunung Sebayat. A total of 122 land snail species was documented with photographs of each species. The speciation of toxic metals of Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Pb, Zn, Ni and As in Kwanar – Doya Shooting site of the Nigerian Army, Military Training, Base Camp, Kachia, Kaduna State, Nigeria was investigated. The soil physico-chemical parameters, total metal content and sequential extraction methods were determined in duplicates using standard methods. The pH ranged from 3.93–4.51, showing the high acidity of the soil and electro -conductivity gave a mean value of 0.11 ms / cm showing the poor nutrient value of the soil). While the mean total metals values were Zinc: 28.94 mg/kg, Nickel: 13.45mg/kg, Manganese: 78: 12 mg/kg, Lead: 40.6 mg/kg, Arsenic: 305 mg/kg, Chromium: 49.32 mg/kg, Cobalt: 162:50 mg/kg and copper: 7.3 mg/kg. All the metals were above the W.H.O permissible limit for toxic metals in soils except Zinc and Nickel. The sequential partitioning and distribution and variation of toxic metals in the various fractions of the Nigerian Defence Academy Shooting Range soil were in the following order: Cobalt: Residual > Bound to carbonate > Exchangeable > Organic > Fe – Mn Oxide Arsenic: Fe – Mn Oxide > Bound to carbonate > Residual > Organic > Chromium: Bound to carbonate > Exchangeable > Fe – Mn Oxide > Organic > Residual. A 3 Axis MCL6 Magnetometer was used to gather the magnetic data. The information was gathered from a 1 km by 500 m area along eight profile lines with a length of roughly 1000 m each. Each profile is spaced roughly 250m apart from the other. The magnetic investigation was created in a way that provided clear definition of the depth to phenomena in the region. Measurements of the magnetic strengths at discrete spots along traverses spaced consistently throughout the area of interest were required by the data collecting approach in order to sufficiently cover the segment utilized to ascertain the structure and deformation analysis of the study area. The geological conditions in the shallow subsurface provide the highest frequency events of interest, whereas magnetic property contrasts at or beneath the basement surface produce the lowest frequency occurrences. Significant lateral variations and contrasts in the shallow formations’ magnetic characteristics are produced either singly or as a result of a particular combination of faulting, deposition, and mineralization linked to displacement and deformation of the structural system.

Abstract:
The thermodynamic, kinetic, and structural properties of Ln3+ complexes with the bifunctional DO3A-ACE4− ligand and its amide derivative DO3A-BACE4− (modelling the case where DO3A-ACE4− ligand binds to vector molecules) have been studied in order to confirm the usefulness of the corresponding Gd3+ complexes as relaxation labels of targeted MRI contrast agents. The stability constants of the Mg2+ and Ca2+ complexes of DO3A-ACE4− and DO3A-BACE4− complexes are lower than for DOTA4− and DO3A3−, while the Zn2+ and Cu2+ complexes have similar and higher stability than for DOTA4− and DO3A3− complexes. The stability constants of the Ln(DO3A-BACE)− complexes increase from Ce3+ to Gd3+ but remain practically constant for the late Ln3+ ions (represented by Yb3+). The stability constants of the Ln(DO3A-ACE)4− and Ln(DO3A-BACE)4− complexes are several orders of magnitude lower than those of the corresponding DOTA4− and DO3A3− complexes. The formation rate of Eu(DO3A-ACE)− is one order of magnitude slower than for Eu(DOTA)−, due to the presence of the protonated amine group, which destabilizes the protonated intermediate complex. This protonated group causes the Ln(DO3A-ACE)− complexes to dissociate several orders of magnitude faster than Ln(DOTA)− and its absence in the Ln(DO3A-BACE)− complexes results in inertness similar to Ln(DOTA)− (as judged by the rate constants of acid assisted dissociation). The 1H NMR spectra of the diamagnetic Y(DO3A-ACE)− and Y(DO3A-BACE)− reflect the slow dynamics at low temperatures of the intramolecular isomerization process between the SA pair of enantiomers, R-Λ(λλλλ) and S-Δ(δδδδ). The conformation of the Cα-substituted pendant arm is different in the two complexes, where the bulky substituent is further away from the macrocyclic ring in Y(DO3A-BACE)− than the amino group in Y(DO3A-ACE)− to minimize steric hindrance. The temperature dependence of the spectra reflects slower ring motions than pendant arms rearrangements in both complexes. Although losing some thermodynamic stability relative to Gd(DOTA)−, Gd(DO3A-BACE)− is still quite inert, indicating the usefulness of the bifunctional DO3A-ACE4− in the design of GBCAs and Ln3+-based tags for protein structural NMR analysis.

This research article is related to the development of settlement by Aryan people in the Terai region of Nepal. Aryan people had entered the Terai region of Nepal during the Vedic period. In ancient times, various states were developed in the region of Nepal. The Mithila state of the Eastern Terai, the Ramgram state western part of the Gandaki River and the Kapilvastu state west of the present Butwal region were developed in before the Christian era. Most of the people in those states also migrated from India. Even in the middle Age, a state called Tirahoot or Doya was developed in the eastern Terai region of Nepal. Although this kingdom came to an end in the 14thcentury AD. After the conquest of the eastern Terai region by the Sen Dynasty the king of Palpa, the three kingdoms of Makwanpur, Chaudandi and Vijaypur remained in that region till the time of unification by Prithvi Narayan Shah, the king of Gorkha. After the unification of Nepal, the ancient and medieval independent Terai regions were automatically included in the Kingdom of Nepal. The article clarifies that there has been continuous settlement in the Terai region of Nepal from ancient period to the present.

Kedua teknik permainan alat musik Beghu Yang terdiri dari posisi badan saat bermain alat musik Beghu, posisi tangan kanan dan kiri saat memainkan alat musik Beghu, cara memegang stik, dan juga teknik memainkan alat musik Beghu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data diperoleh dengan dokumentasi (kamera, alat perekam), dan wawancara. Alat tulis untuk mencatat proses pengumpulan data. Keabsahan data diperoleh melalui prosedur triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) organologi meliputi, (a) bahan dasar pembuatan alat musik Beghu khususnya pada gendang menggunakan pohon Doya ( pohon meranti) bentuk dan ukuran pada alat musik Beghu, bagian-bagian pada alat musik beghu, produksi nada yang dihasilkan. Synthesis of two bimodal imaging agents consist of a hydrophobic zinc(II) tetrapentafluorophenylporpholactol core and a β-substituted hydrophilic Gd ( III ) DO3A (ZnLGd539) or DOTA (ZnLGd595) like moiety has been described (DO3A = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7-triacetic acid, DOTA = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid). Through β-conjugation approach, the absorption at deep red region increases compared to traditional conjugation methods at meso-position. More importantly, these new complexes possess largely improved ionic relaxitivites relative to the sole Gd ( III ) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) agents such as Gd ( III ) DO3A and Gd ( III ) DOTA like complexes. Combining the optical and magnetic resonance measurements in aqueous media, the largely enhanced r1 relaxivities was attributed to the aggregation of ZnLGd539 and ZnLGd595 in aqueous media. Furthermore, fluorescence and magnetic resonance imaging experiment showed that both ZnLGd539 and ZnLGd595 can be applied as potential bimodal imaging contrast agents. Finally, both compounds showed no dark cytotoxicity and good photocytotoxicity (IC50 = 1.73 ± 0.13 and 1.52 ± 0.10 μM for ZnLGd539 and ZnLGd595 respectively) on Hela cells.

Redox biology is still looking for tools to monitor redox potential in cellular biology and, despite a large and sustained effort, reliable molecular probes have yet to emerge. In contrast, molecular probes for reactive oxygen and nitrogen have been widely explored. In this manuscript, three kinetically inert lanthanide complexes that selectively react with hypochlorous acid are prepared and characterized. The design is based on 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7-triacetic acid (DO3A) and 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,7-diacetic acid (DO2A) ligands appended with one or two redox active hydroquinone derived arms, thereby forming octadentate ligands ideally suited to complex trivalent lanthanide ions. The three complexes are found to react selectively with hypochlorous acid to form highly symmetric lanthanide(III) 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacedic acid (DOTA) complexes. The conversion of the probe to [Ln.DOTA]− is followed by luminescence, absorption, and NMR spectroscopy in a model system comprised of a Triton-X modified HEPES buffer. It was concluded that the design principle works, and that simple caging units like hydroquinones can work well in conjugation with lanthanide(III) complexes.

INTRODUCTION: Medullary carcinoma is a rare malignant neuroendocrine tumor of the thyroid gland. Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) has no specific clinical symptoms. Due to the absence of specific symptoms, the disease is usually diagnosed at the stage of metastatic lesions of regional lymph nodes, and sometimes, internal organs. The five- and ten-year survival after detection of distant metastases is 25% and 10%, respectively.OBJECTIVE: To analyze the available foreign and domestic literature to determine the role of PET/CT with various radiopharmaceuticals in the complex radiological diagnosis of MTC.MATERIALS AND METHODS: A search was made for scientific publications and clinical recommendations in the information and analytical systems PudMed, elibrary over the past ten years, dedicated to the diagnosis of MTC, including PET/CT with 18F-DOPA, 18F-FDG, 68Ga-DOTA peptides, etc. by keywords «medullary thyroid cancer», «medullary thyroid carcinoma», «PET/CT», «18F-L-dihydroxyphenylalanine», «18F-DOPA», «18F-DOPA», «68Ga-DOTA peptides», «68Ga-DOTA-peptides», «theranostics», «theranostics».RESULTS: The analysis of publications demonstrated the prospects for the use of PET/CT with various radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis of recurrent tumors and the prevalence of the process in biochemical recurrence of MTC, as well as the possibility of peptide-receptor radionuclide therapy for the treatment of advanced forms of the disease. The choice of radiopharmaceuticals is based on the results of laboratory diagnostics and conventional methods of anatomical imaging. PET/CT with 68Ga-DOTA peptides is performed to predict the effectiveness of peptide-receptor radionuclide therapy.CONCLUSION: PET/CT with various radiopharmaceuticals makes a significant contribution to the diagnosis of recurrent tumors, assessment of the prevalence of the tumor process and selection of patients for peptide-receptor radionuclide therapy.

Spoilage of sweet potato could be enormous when inadequate methods of storage are used. This research investigated impact of methods of storage on spoilage of sweet potato in three major markets of Plateau State Nigeria. Data for the study were obtained from sellers of sweet potato in Yan Doya market, New market and Farin Gada market of Plateau State through administration of questionnaires. Analysis of the data was carried out using descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC), F-test statistics, t-test and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) with backward elimination procedure. Results from descriptive statistics showed that majority of sweet potato sellers adopted use of sack for storage of their goods. The second method commonly used for storage of sweet potato in the study area was found to be root cellar method. Pair-wise application of PPMC indicated that spoilage of sweet potato was positively correlated with adopted methods of storage which suggested existence of relationship among the variables. Analysis using F-test statistics indicated that the relationship did not occur by chance between the variables hence t-test aided determination of which independent variables mainly influenced the dependent variable of the study. From the use of MLR with backward elimination procedure, spoilages from sacks and root cellars methods were the independent variables which mainly influenced the total spoilage of sweet potato in Plateau State Nigeria. Therefore, policy holders in Plateau State need to offer agricultural extension services that would provide modern storage facilities or educate sellers of sweet potato on best way to use both basket and root cellar methods which were their adopted methods commonly used for storage of sweet potato.

The occurrence of betalains and anthocyanins is mutually exclusive, which is a curious phenomenon in the plant kingdom, and the biochemical mechanisms for this restriction are unknown. In the present study, we performed transcriptome analysis of two betalain-producing species, red Bougainvillea glabra Choisy. ‘Sanderiana’ (R) and white B. glabra ‘Alba’ (W) by transcriptome sequencing. In total, we obtained 69 692 (Red) and 60 727 (White) genes with an average length of 665 and 728 bp respectively. Out of 3106 significantly differentially-expressed genes (71%), 1003 were R-specific (32%), and 1605 were W-specific (52%). To validate betalain-/anthocyanidin-biosynthesis genes detected (cytochrome P 450 76AD1 (CYP76AD1), dihydroxy-phenylalanine (DOPA)-4,5-dioxygenase (DODA), cyclo DOPA-5-O-glycosyltransferase (cyclo-DOPA-5-GT) dihydroflavonol 4-reductase (DFR), leucoanthocyanidin dioxygenase (LDOX)), real-time PCR was performed in leaves and three development stages of flowers in four Bougainvilleas, red R, white W, orange Bougainvillea × buttiana ‘Salmoea’ (O) and purple B. glabra ‘Formosa’ (P). Contents of betalains were also measured. The results showed that betalains accumulation was consistent with the expression level of DODA in O. A correlation between expression of CYP76AD1 and cyclo-DOPA-5GT and betalains was not discovered. This suggests that production of betacyanins was under the regulation of more complex factors. Both DFR and LDOX responsible for anthocyanidin production were first validated in floral organs and leaves in betalain-producing plants by real-time PCR. These findings suggest a fully functioning anthocyanin pathway, at least, to the stage of LDOX in bougainvilleas.

Objective: To compare the quality of perilymphatic enhancement in the rat inner ear after intratympanic injection of two types of gadolinium with a 9.4-tesla micro-MRI. Materials and Methods: Gadolinium was injected into the middle ear in 6 Sprague-Dawley rats via the transtympanic route. The left ear was injected with Gd-DO3A-butrol first, and then the right ear was injected with Gd-DOTA. MR images of the inner ear were acquired 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4 h after intratympanic (IT) injection using an Agilent MRI system 9.4T/160/AS. The normalized signal intensity was quantitatively analyzed at the scala vestibuli (SV), scala media, and scala tympani (ST) using a Marosis M-view system. Then the normalized signal intensities (SIs) were compared between the two contrast agents. Results: For Gd-DO3A-butrol, the SI was as low as 1.0-1.5 throughout 1-4 h at the SV and ST of the basal turn. The maximum SI was 1.5 ± 0.5 at the SV (2 h) and 1.3 ± 0.5 at the ST (2 h). For Gd-DOTA, the 1-hour postinjection SI at the basal turn was 2.5 ± 0.5 at the SV, 1.6 ± 0.3 at the ST, and 1.2 ± 0.3 at the scala media. In the apical turn, the maximum SI was reached after 2.5 h. The maximum SI in the apical turn was 1.8 ± 0.4 at the SV (3.5 h), 1.8 ± 0.4 at the ST (4 h), and 1.4 ± 0.3 at the scala media (4 h). Conclusions: We were able to clearly visualize and separate the ST and SV using IT Gd and 9.4-tesla micro-MRI. We recommend using Gd-DO3A-butrol over Gd-DOTA and to perform the MRI 2.5 h after using IT Gd in the rat inner ear.

Summary. The aim of the study was to study the effect of clinical and morphological factors on diagnosis and onset of disease recurrence. Materials and methods. To achieve this goal, we formed a sample of postoperative samples of ovarian tumor tissue, which were divided into 3 groups: comparison group — ovarian cancer (T1-3N0M0, T1-3N0M1) (РЯ n = 261) main group 1 — borderline ovarian tumor (T1-3N0M0) (singing n = 100); the main group 2 — benign tumors of the ovaries (DOYA n = 40). The age of patients ranged from 23 to 62 years. Of these, 50 % were women of childbearing age — from 23 to 36 years (n = 26). The comparison group included 46 patients diagnosed with ovarian cancer aged 35 to 78 years. Among them, the age group from 30 to 40 years old was 14 % (n = 6). Most of the observations — 56 % (n = 24) — occurred in patients aged 40-60 years. Women over 60 made up 30 % (n = 14). Results and discussion. Ovarian cancer in the structure of the female genital organs malignancy is characterized by an ambiguous forecast and the highest mortality rate. The leading factors determining this phenomenon are the features of tumor metastasis. Metastasis of ovarian cancer occurs at the early stages of the disease and runs a variety of ways: contact, intraperitoneal, haemacirculatory and through the lymphatic system. Such features are determined by the topography of metastatic disease, anatomy, blood supply and lymphatic channel of the female reproductive gland. The greater omentum plays the barrier role in the development of the pathological process of the abdomen. At present poor prognosis and poor treatment outcomes require reviewing approaches to the surgical treatment of ovarian cancer. In this connection defining the features of ovarian cancer metastasis provides an opportunity to find new ways to disable malignant cells distribution. Conclusions. A key role in the treatment of ovarian cancer has surgery, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy. Adequate staging is important in choosing treatment tactics and assessing the prevalence of the disease. The importance of genetic and molecular studies is growing, according to the results of which it is possible to predict an increased risk of developing OC, to individualize and adjust treatment regimens.

The DEER (double electron-electron resonance, also called PELDOR) experiment, which probes the dipolar interaction between two spins and thus reveals distance information, is an important tool for structural studies. In recent years, shaped pump pulses have become a valuable addition to the DEER experiment. Shaped pulses offer an increased excitation bandwidth and the possibility to precisely adjust pulse parameters, which is beneficial especially for demanding biological samples. We have noticed that on our home built W-band spectrometer, the dead-time free 4-pulse DEER sequence with chirped pump pulses suffers from distortions at the end of the DEER trace. Although minor, these are crucial for Gd(III)-Gd(III) DEER where the modulation depth is on the order of a few percent. Here we present a modified DEER sequence—referred to as reversed DEER (rDEER)—that circumvents the coherence pathway which gives rise to the distortion. We compare the rDEER (with two chirped pump pulses) performance values to regular 4-pulse DEER with one monochromatic as well as two chirped pulses and investigate the source of the distortion. We demonstrate the applicability and effectivity of rDEER on three systems, ubiquitin labeled with Gd(III)-DOTA-maleimide (DOTA, 1,4,7,10-Tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid) or with Gd(III)-DO3A (DO3A, 1,4,7,10-Tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7-triyl) triacetic acid) and the multidrug transporter MdfA, labeled with a Gd(III)-C2 tag, and report an increase in the signal-to-noise ratio in the range of 3 to 7 when comparing the rDEER with two chirped pump pulses to standard 4-pulse DEER.

Observations from different planes of sections were made and wood maceration was carried out for fibre morphology. Absent to scanty paratracheal axial parenchyma, septate fibres, pitted vessels, storied heterocellular rays, and simple perforation plates were common features in all taxa. However, multiseriate and wider rays distinguished the exotic species from the indigenous species, and the semi-diffuse porous wood pattern was a unique feature in M. ‘Dona Aurora’. Quantitative data showed considerable variations in case of fibre lengths among the four taxa i.e. M. elegans, M. erythrophylla, M. philippica var. aurorae, and M. ‘Dona Aurora’ and was recorded 0.80 ± 0.02 µm, 0.70 ± 0.05 µm, 0.65 ± 0.03 µm and 0.64 ± 0.04 µm respectively. These observations showed that all species belong to Wood Type II of Rubiaceae and support their inclusion in the Tribe Mussaendeae and Order Ixoroideae. The influence of environmental factors was evident in the significant elongation of wood vessels of samples collected from more humid areas, but with no significant effect on their paper-making potential. This work was conducted on rabbits in chronic studies. EEG activity of the left and right sides of the visual and sensory cortex of the brain of animals was registered with the use of steel needle electrodes before, during, and after the introduction of precursors of biogenic amines: 5‑hydroxytryptophan (5-HTF) and L-Dioxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA). The program of the experiment studied the effect of the total activity of the right and left visual and sensory-motor cortex during the exogenous introduction of 35-40 mg/kg of the precursor of serotonin (5-HTF) and 45-50 mg/kg of the precursor of norepinephrine (L-DOFA). The results of the analysis of the correlogram showed that an increase in the observed reactions was observed by their regulation. However, at the beginning of the effect of the substance, the cross-correlation values were lower, but then they quickly increased in the sensorimotor and visual fields and reached maximum on both sides of visual acuity. Both studied monoamine precursors, 5-HTF and L-DOFA, had specific reactions in the EEG-activity of the cerebral cortex. This was more apparent in the visual cortex.

Thrombosis and infections are the two major complications associated with extracorporeal circuits and indwelling medical devices, leading to significant mortality in clinic. To address this issue, here, we report a biomimetic surface engineering strategy by the integration of mussel-inspired adhesive peptide, with bio-orthogonal click chemistry, to tailor the surface functionalities of tubing and catheters. Inspired by mussel adhesive foot protein, a bioclickable peptide mimic (DOPA)4-azide-based structure is designed and grafted on an aminated tubing robustly based on catechol-amine chemistry. Then, the dibenzylcyclooctyne (DBCO) modified nitric oxide generating species of 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid (DOTA) chelated copper ions and the DBCO-modified antimicrobial peptide (DBCO-AMP) are clicked onto the grafted surfaces via bio-orthogonal reaction. The combination of the robustly grafted AMP and Cu-DOTA endows the modified tubing with durable antimicrobial properties and ability in long-term catalytically generating NO from endogenous s-nitrosothiols to resist adhesion/activation of platelets, thus preventing the formation of thrombosis. Overall, this biomimetic surface engineering technology provides a promising solution for multicomponent surface functionalization and the surface bioengineering of biomedical devices with enhanced clinical performance.

Trong bài tổng quan này, chúng tôi xin giới thiệu một số ứng dụng lâm sàng của các dược chất phóng xạcủa PET không phải 18FDG như 11C- và 18F-choline, 11C-methionine, 18F-FET, 18F-DOPA, 68Ga-DOTA-somatostatine,11C-acetate và 18F-FLT ... 11C- và 18F-choline có ái tính cao với ung thư tuyến tiền liệt, thậm chí với loại có độ ác tínhthấp. Choline có thể được gắn với cả 11C và 18F, 11C có ưu điểm là bài tiết ít hơn qua đường tiết niệu, giảm liều bứcxạ cho bệnh nhân còn 18F lại thuận tiện hơn cho các trung tâm không không có cyclotron. Methionine rất cần choquá trình tổng hợp protein của các tế bào ung thư. Dược chất này được ứng dụng chủ yếu trong việc đánh giá ungthư hệ thần kinh trung ương. Abstract Betalains are the nitrogenous pigments that replace anthocyanins in the plant order Caryophyllales. Here, we describe unconventional decarboxylated betalains in quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) grains. Decarboxylated betalains are derived from a previously unconsidered activity of the 4,5-DOPA-extradiol-dioxygenase enzyme (DODA), which has been identified as the key enzymatic step in the established biosynthetic pathway of betalains. Here, dopamine is fully characterized as an alternative substrate of the DODA enzyme able to yield an intermediate and structural unit of plant pigments: 6-decarboxy-betalamic acid, which is proposed and described. To characterize this activity, quinoa grains of different colors were analyzed in depth by chromatography, time-of-flight mass spectrometry, and reactions were performed in enzymatic assays and bioreactors. The enzymatic-chemical scheme proposed leads to an uncharacterized family of 6-decarboxylated betalains produced by a hitherto unknown enzymatic activity. All intermediate compounds as well as the final products of the dopamine-based biosynthetic pathway of pigments have been unambiguously determined and the reactions have been characterized from the enzymatic and functional perspectives. Results evidence a palette of molecules in quinoa grains of physiological relevance and which explain minor betalains described in plants of the Caryophyllales order. An entire family of betalains is anticipated.

Iako je koriscenje hiperbaricne oksigenacije kao i nabavka hiperbaricnih komora (visemesnih ili jednomesnih) uslovljena velikim finansijskim ulaganjima, korist od njene primene daleko je veca, a toga treba da budu svesni svi koji odlucuju o njoj. U poslednje vreme sve je manje dilema o opravdanosti primene HBOT, a sve vise se otvaraju nova polja moguce primene. Razvoj molekularne medicine stvorio je nove prostore u tretmanima odredjenih bolesti gde HBOT moze imati svoje mesto. U korak sa novim medicinskim saznanjima, odredjivanjem pravih indikacija, primenom korektnih doza kiseonika kao i vremena ekspozicije, napredak ce biti evidentan i moze se zakljuciti da doba HBOT tek dolazi.

Moja je početna pretpostavka da je shvaćanje ili doxa što smo ga naslijedili od Visokoga modernizma zakazalo tokom, i upravo zbog, postmodernističkog i postfordističkog trijumfa grabljivog kapitalizma. Time je obuhvaćena i masovna zlouporaba modernih nauka u ratovima i osiromašavanju naroda, kao i uništavanje intelektualnih pretpostavki kako praktične ljevice u doba staljinizma, koje se manifestovalo u katastrofama posle 1968. i 1989, tako i pravog slobodoljubivog liberalizma. Ta široka tema zaslužuje zasebnu obradu, premda uz oštro odbacivanje postmodernističke „slabe misli“ napuštanja razuma. U ovome eseju predočavam, najprije, što bi mogle biti osnove i značajni vidovi epistemologije, grane filozofije koja postavlja pitanje kako znamo ono što (mislimo da) znamo, te predlažem kako se orijentirati u njoj (krećući se ka „mekom“ skepticizmu). Potom pravim paralele između nauka i umjetnosti, uključujući i njihova institucionalna uporišta, osobito u pogledu naracije. Završavam kratkim osvrtom na to kako umjetnost i pjesnička spoznaja mogu intervenirati u politici slobode i opstanka: u značajnoj mjeri, ali indirektno.

Neuroendokrini tumori (NET) su relativno retki i heterogeni sa vrlo heterogenom kliničkom slikom. Potiču iz senzornih i sekretornih neuroendokrinih ćelija uglavnom unutar plućnog i gastrointestinalnog trakta. Sačinjavaju manje od 2% svih malignih oboljenja. Na osnovu kliničkog ponašanja, histologije i proliferacije, podeljeni su u dobro diferentovane (niski do srednji stepen) i slabo diferentovane (visoki stepen) neuroendokrine tumore. Pripadnost svakoj od ovih kategorija ima uticaj na lečenje i prognozu. Jedino lečenje je operacija. S obzirom da više od 50% pacijenata u vreme postavljanja dijagnoze već ima metastatsku bolest, mora biti uključeno sistemsko lečenje, kao što su hemoterapija i “target” terapija, kao i radioterapija peptidnim receptorima. Za dijagnozu i praćenje ovih tumora koriste se različite radiološke metode (kompjuterizovana tomografija, magnetna rezonanca, ultrazvuk) kao i endoskopija. Metode nuklearne medicine koriste njihove jedinstvene osobine, uglavnom karakteristike prekursora amina i sistema dekarboksilacije, kao i ekspresije receptora somatostatina. Radionuklidne metode vizualizuju celo telo i mogu lokalizovati i udaljene metastaze. Snimanje se može obaviti pomoću gama kamere (SPECT, SPECT / CT) ili pozitronskom-emisionom tomografijom (PET / CT). Radiofarmaci koji se koriste za snimanje gama kamerom obično su 99mTc- (V) -DMSA, 99mTc-MIBI, 99mTc-HYNIC TOC, 111In-pentetreotid i 131I-MIBG / 123I-MIBG. PET/CT snimanje ima prednost superiorne prostorne rezolucije i brzine snimanja. Najčešće korišćeni pozitronski radiofarmaci su analozi 68Ga-DOTA-somatostatina, 18FDG (naročito za tumore visokog stepena), 18F-L-DOPA / 11C-L-DOPA i 11C-5-hidroksitriptofan. Dalji razvoj novih radiofarmaka za detekciju neuroendokrinih tumora predstavlja veliki izazov. U ovom radu je dat revijski prikaz najčešće korišćenih tehnologija kao i trendovi razvoja metoda za otkrivanje neuroendokrinih tumora.

Bait-demi bait secara keseluruhan menggambarkan keanekaragaman pola pikir dan pola berbuat yang bermartabat. Syair-syair dalam bentuk petuah bijak ini pada esensinya menampilkan sifat humanis dan sifat religius. Secara teknis hal ini melahirkan sebuah falsafah keragaman dan kebersatuan antara masyarakat pribumi maupun pendatang dengan sebuah ikatan yang disebut sebagai falsafah “Jou se ngofa ngare”. Yang secara praktis terbentuk dalam sebuah syair lokal “Ino fomakatinyinga doka gosora se balawa, om doro yo mamote fo magogoru se madudara”. Instrumen syair-syair itu merupakan ungkapan pesan spiritual dari ayat al-Qur’an dan al-Hadits sebagai sumber utama agama Islam. Syair-syair lokal ini bila diimplementasikan dalam kehidupan kekinian maka akan dapat menyatukan sebuah kehidupan yang harmonis, hidup rukun dan damai disertai keutuhan yang berbasis masa depan yang cerah dan gemilang.

In the paper is analysed pandemic of COVID-19 from the point of view of insurance market. Author starts from the assumption that insurers are the only companies that could be partners of the state in the process of administration of pandemic risk. Namely, pandemic is a kind of catastrophic and global risk that put on test not only capacities of (re)insurance market but also the readiness of the state to respond to new challenges with synchronized action with the private sector. This primarily refers to the remediation of eco-bomb consequences caused by corona virus. In order to be able to offer affordable insurance of corona risk insurers should receive a subsidy of part of the premiums from the state as well as the subsidy of the part of covered damages. The state should assume proactive role in the process of administrating risk of pandemic and educating all potentially injured persons.

Na+ loading without Cl− fails to increase blood pressure in the DOCA model. We compared the changes in the total body (TB) effective Na+, K+, Cl−, and water (TBW) content as well as in intracellular (ICV) or extracellular (ECV) volume in rats receiving DOCA-NaCl, DOCA-NaHCO3, or DOCA-KHCO3. We divided 42 male rats into 5 groups. Group 1 was untreated, group 2 received 1% NaCl, and groups 3, 4, and 5 were treated with DOCA and received 1% NaCl, 1.44% NaHCO3, or 1.7% KHCO3 to drink. We measured mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) directly after 3 wk. Tissue electrolyte and water content was measured by chemical analysis. Compared with control rats, DOCA-NaCl increased MAP while DOCA-NaHCO3 and DOCA-KHCO3 did not. DOCA-NaCl increased TBNa+ 26% but only moderately increased TBW. DOCA-NaHCO3 led to similar TBNa+ excess, while TBW and ICV, but not ECV, were increased more than in DOCA-NaCl rats. DOCA-KHCO3 did not affect TBNa+ or volume. At a given TB(Na++K+) and TBW, MAP in DOCA-NaCl rats was higher than in control, DOCA-NaHCO3, and DOCA-KHCO3 rats, indicating that hypertension in DOCA-NaCl rats was not dependent on TB(Na++K+) and water mass balance. Skin volume retention was hypertonic compared with serum and paralleled hypertension in DOCA-NaCl rats. These rats had higher TB(Na++K+)-to-TBW ratio in accumulated fluid than DOCA-NaHCO3 rats. DOCA-NaCl rats also had increased intracellular Cl− concentrations in skeletal muscle. We conclude that excessive cellular electrolyte redistribution and/or intracellular Na+ or Cl− accumulation may play an important role in the pathogenesis of salt-sensitive hypertension.

The possibility that demethylation of 3-O-methyldopa (OM-dopa) in the kidney could provide a source for dopamine in the urine was explored in male Wistar rats aged 60-90 days, using in vivo and in vitro approaches. The results showed that endogenous OM-dopa is filtered, reabsorbed and extensively metabolized in the kidney. Infusion of OM-dopa into anesthetized rats increased significantly urinary excretion of Na+, dopa, dopamine, and 3,4 dihydroxyphenylacetic acid. Whole kidney homogenates, slices from renal cortex, and microdissected proximal tubules produced significant amounts of both dopa and dopamine when incubated with OM-dopa. Renal cortex slices produced dose-dependent amounts of dopa and dopa-mine when incubated with 1-100 microM OM-dopa. Incubation of microdissected proximal tubule segments with 1 microM OM-dopa produced a fourfold (P < 0.025) increment in dopa and a twofold (P < 0.05) increment in dopamine (an effect similar to that observed with 1 microM L-dopa). One micromolar OM-dopa or 1 microM L-dopa decreased (P < 0.05) Na(+)-K(+)-adenosinetriphosphatase activity measured at maximal velocity condition in proximal tubules. In conclusion, these experiments show that in vitro the kidney is able to produce dopamine by demethylation of OM-dopa, while the results of the OM-dopa infusion suggest that this conversion may also occur in vivo.

1. To determine the sources of dopa (3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine) in plasma, we measured regional arteriovenous differences, tissue concentrations and urinary excretion of dopa during systemic intravenous infusions of I-[3H]dopa into anaesthetized intact rats and rats pretreated with the sympathetic neurotoxin, 6-hydroxydopamine. 2. In intact rats, large arteriovenous increments in plasma dopa concentrations were noted in the femoral (47%) and adrenal (141%) beds, with a small arterial-portal venous increment (11%), whereas in the kidney there was a substantial (47%) arteriovenous decrement in plasma dopa levels. Skeletal muscle appeared to be a major source of dopa in arterial plasma. 3. Treatment with 6-hydroxydopamine abolished the afferent-efferent increment of plasma dopa concentrations in the femoral bed. The arteriovenous decrement of plasma dopa concentrations in the kidney was preserved, and the arteriovenous increment in the adrenal bed was decreased by about half. Arterial plasma dopa levels fell by 41%. 4. Regional extraction percentages of I-[3H]dopa were used to estimate the clearances and rates of appearance (spillovers) of dopa in plasma. Dopa spillover was detected in the femoral, renal, splanchnic and adrenal beds, with skeletal muscle accounting for about 44% and the kidneys accounting for about 18% of dopa in arterial plasma. Whereas chemical sympathectomy decreased the femoral and renal spillover of dopa by 90% or more, arterial dopa levels and estimated dopa spillover into arterial plasma were decreased by only about 45%. 5. The kidneys accounted for 22% of dopa clearance from arterial plasma. From the renal extraction of I-[3H]dopa and the urinary excretion of [3H]dopamine, it was estimated that 77% of dopa removed in the kidneys was excreted as dopamine in intact animals and 69% was excreted as dopamine in sympathectomized animals. Conversely, about 80% of urinary endogenous dopamine was derived from plasma dopa, regardless of 6-hydroxydopamine treatment. 6. The results indicate that endogenous dopa in arterial plasma is derived substantially but not exclusively from sympathetic nerve endings that are destroyed by 6-hydroxydopamine, especially in skeletal muscle and the kidneys. Regional dopa spillover therefore probably reflects regional catecholamine biosynthesis. In rats, urinary dopamine is derived mainly from renal decarboxylation of circulating dopa.

Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid malignancy in children. At diagnosis, approximately 50% of patients present with metastatic disease. These patients are at high risk for refractory or recurrent disease, which conveys a very poor prognosis. During the past decades, nuclear medicine has been essential for the staging and response assessment of neuroblastoma. Currently, the standard nuclear imaging technique is meta-[123I]iodobenzylguanidine ([123I]mIBG) whole-body scintigraphy, usually combined with single-photon emission computed tomography with computed tomography (SPECT-CT). Nevertheless, 10% of neuroblastomas are mIBG non-avid and [123I]mIBG imaging has relatively low spatial resolution, resulting in limited sensitivity for smaller lesions. More accurate methods to assess full disease extent are needed in order to optimize treatment strategies. Advances in nuclear medicine have led to the introduction of radiotracers compatible for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in neuroblastoma, such as [124I]mIBG, [18F]mFBG, [18F]FDG, [68Ga]Ga-DOTA peptides, [18F]F-DOPA, and [11C]mHED. PET has multiple advantages over SPECT, including a superior resolution and whole-body tomographic range. This article reviews the use, characteristics, diagnostic accuracy, advantages, and limitations of current and new tracers for nuclear medicine imaging in neuroblastoma.

We incorporated anti-Parkinsonian drug, levodopa (dopa), in Zn/Al-LDH by coprecipitation method to form dopa-LDH nanocomposite. Further coating of Tween-80 on the external surfaces of dopa-LDH nanocomposite was achieved through the oxygen of C=O group of Tween-80 with the layer of dopa-LDH nanocomposite. The final product is called Tween-dopa-LDH nanocomposite. The X-ray diffraction indicates that the Tween-dopa-LDH nanocomposite was formed by aggregation structure. From the TGA data, the Tween-80 loading on the surface of LDH and dopa-LDH was 8.6 and 7.4%, respectively. The effect of coating process on the dopa release from Tween-dopa-LDH nanocomposite was also studied. The release from Tween-dopa-LDH nanocomposite shows slower release compared to the release of the drug from dopa-LDH nanocomposite as done previously in our study, presumably due to the retarding shielding effect. The cell viability study using PC12 showed improved viability with Tween-80 coating on dopa-LDH nanocomposite as studied by mitochondrial dehydrogenase activity (MTT assay).

We determined the cardiovascular responses in normal and deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA)-salt hypertensive rats with reduced total peripheral resistance due to an arteriovenous (a-v) fistula. Animals were divided into four groups: control, fistula, DOCA-salt, and DOCA-salt fistula. The fistula was made by anastomosing the aorta and vena cava below the renal arteries. Four weeks after the creation of the fistula both DOCA-salt and DOCA-salt fistula animals received DOCA and salt for 6–8 wk. At the end of 10–12 wk we measured mean arterial pressure, cardiac output, tissue flows, and right atrial pressure. Flow measurements using radioactive microspheres were made in anesthetized animals. Cardiac index (CI) was 202% higher in the fistula group than in the control animals and 165% higher in the DOCA-salt fistula than in the DOCA-salt animals. There was no difference in cardiac output between the control and DOCA-salt animals. The increase in cardiac output was due to the fistula flow as evidenced by a significant increase in the number of microspheres in the lung. Mean arterial pressure was 115 +/- 4 mmHg (control) and 108 +/- 5 mmHg (fistula) in non-DOCA rats but increased in both DOCA groups, 159 +/- 3 mmHg (DOCA-salt) and 145 +/- 5 mmHg (DOCA-salt fistula). Right atrial pressure was increased above control in both fistula animals but was normal in DOCA-salt animals. Total peripheral resistance (TPR) was higher than control in DOCA-salt animals, but TPR in both the fistula and DOCA-salt fistula animals was lower than control.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

The dopa oxidase activity of tyrosinase in the skin from albino and black mice was assayed using a technique based on the formation of two diastereomers of 5-S-cysteinyldopa when incubating tissue extracts with both L-dopa and D-dopa as substrates in the presence of cysteine. The amounts of 5-S-L-cysteinyl-L-dopa and 5-S-L-cysteinyl-D-dopa formed were then determined. In the extract from black mouse skin the L-L-diastereomer was produced in more than ten times the amount of the L-D-diastereomer. This stereospecific dopa-oxidation is indicative of the presence of tyrosinase and corresponds well with earlier determinations of the rates of oxidation for human tyrosinase, using L-dopa and D-dopa as substrates. Stereospecific dopa oxidation was absent in albino skin, and the nonspecific dopa-oxidation was two orders of magnitude less than the dopa oxidation in black skin. The study demonstrates the lack of tyrosinase activity in albino skin, and quantifies the non-specific dopa oxidation. The lack of tyrosinase activity in the eluates from albinotic skin was found not to be due to the presence of a tyrosinase inhibitor.

Abstract:
Inhibition of soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) has been shown to be renal protective in rat models of salt-sensitive hypertension. Here, we hypothesize that targeted disruption of the sEH gene (Ephx2) prevents both renal inflammation and injury in deoxycorticosterone acetate plus high salt (DOCA-salt) hypertensive mice. Mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) increased significantly in the DOCA-salt groups, and MAP was lower in Ephx2−/− DOCA-salt (129 ± 3 mmHg) compared with wild-type (WT) DOCA-salt (145 ± 2 mmHg) mice. Following 21 days of treatment, WT DOCA-salt urinary MCP-1 excretion increased from control and was attenuated in the Ephx2−/− DOCA-salt group. Macrophage infiltration was reduced in Ephx2−/− DOCA-salt compared with WT DOCA-salt mice. Albuminuria increased in WT DOCA-salt (278 ± 55 μg/day) compared with control (17 ± 1 μg/day) and was blunted in the Ephx2−/− DOCA-salt mice (97 ± 23 μg/day). Glomerular nephrin expression demonstrated an inverse relationship with albuminuria. Nephrin immunofluorescence was greater in the Ephx2−/− DOCA-salt group (3.4 ± 0.3 RFU) compared with WT DOCA-salt group (1.1 ± 0.07 RFU). Reduction in renal inflammation and injury was also seen in WT DOCA-salt mice treated with a sEH inhibitor { trans-4-[4-(3-adamantan-1-yl-ureido)-cyclohexyloxy]-benzoic acid; tAUCB}, demonstrating that the C-terminal hydrolase domain of the sEH enzyme is responsible for renal protection with DOCA-salt hypertension. These data demonstrate that Ephx2 gene deletion decreases blood pressure, attenuates renal inflammation, and ameliorates glomerular injury in DOCA-salt hypertension.

Abstract:
Simultaneous imaging of l-dihydroxyphenylalanine (l-DOPA), dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) in the catecholamine metabolic pathway is particularly useful because l-DOPA is a neurophysiologically important metabolic intermediate. In this study, we found that 2,4,6-trimethylpyrillium tetrafluoroborate (TMPy) can selectively and efficiently react with target catecholamine molecules. Specifically, simultaneous visualization of DA and NE as metabolites of l-DOPA with high steric hinderance was achieved by derivatized-imaging mass spectrometry (IMS). Interestingly, l-DOPA showed strong localization in the brainstem, in contrast to the pattern of DA and NE, which co-localized with tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). In addition, to identify whether the detected molecules were endogenous or exogenous l-DOPA, mice were injected with l-DOPA deuterated in three positions (D3-l-DOPA), which was identifiable by a mass shift of 3Da. TMPy-labeled l-DOPA, DA and NE were detected at m/z 302.1, 258.1 and 274.1, while their D3 versions were detected at 305.0, 261.1 and 277.1 in mouse brain, respectively. l-DOPA and D3-l-DOPA were localized in the BS. DA and NE, and D3-DA and D3-NE, all of which are metabolites of L-DOPA and D3-l-DOPA, were localized in the striatum (STR) and locus coeruleus (LC). These findings suggest a mechanism in the brainstem that allows l-DOPA to accumulate without being metabolized to monoamines downstream of the metabolic pathway.

Dona Anacleta narra formas cotidianas de resistir e de existir, e nos mostra como mulheres negras estão desde a margem fazendo o uso político do corpo para existir diante do paradigma da exclusão racial no Brasil e ao mesmo tempo atuarem na linha de frente em defesa da vida. Vozes de pretas, afro pindorâmicas fazem nascer diariamente um novo dia, a esperança. Essas vozes narram territórios dinâmicos e guiados por ontologias outras, que emanam das relações com os encantados do Tambor de Mina. Compartilhamos aqui uma entrevista insurgente realizada no dia 20 de janeiro de 2021 em plena pandemia mundial provocada pela Covid-19. Abstract:
We recently reported the existence of two kinds of human epidermal Langerhans' cells (LC), one which can take up and accumulate L/dopa and one which cannot. The dopa(+) LC take up L/dopa by carrier/mediated exchange diffusion, that is, the influx of L/dopa and the outflow of an intracellular substance are linked via the same carrier. The nature of the fundamental difference between L/dopa(+) and L/dopa(/) cells has not been clarified. We have now found that alpha/amino/n/butyric acid methyl ester (ABA/OME) penetrates into intracellular compartments, perhaps endosomes or lysosomes, of all LC, where hydrolysis results in the accumulation of the free amino acid (ABA). This accumulation causes a considerable increase in osmotic pressure of the membrane/limited organelle, leading to influx of water and swelling. Co/incubation with L/dopa revealed an influx of L/dopa into LC which normally cannot take up this amino acid. It is suggested that these LC lack the capacity to synthesize and/or store the counterpart which allows L/dopa to enter the dopa(+) LC, but that ABA in the L/dopa(/) LC can function as an equivalent counterpart.
