Abstract:
We construct an action for double field theory using a metric connection that is compatible with both the generalised metric and the OD, D structure. The connection is simultaneously torsionful and flat. Using this connection, one may construct a proper covariant derivative for double field theory. We then write the doubled action in terms of the generalised torsion of this connection. This action then exactly reproduces that required for double field theory and gauged supergravity.

Abstract:
The production of triple Higgs (H+H-H0), (H+H-h0) and pairwise charged Higgs boson (H+H-) is studied in the context of future linear colliders within the two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) type II. The aim is to compare sources of charged Higgs pair through the above processes, that is, double and triple Higgs production. Cross sections are calculated at the leading order in 2HDM type II and Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). Several orders of magnitude (~104) enhancement are observed in 2HDM compared to MSSM, while no sizable enhancement is seen in muon collider versus electron-positron collider. The analysis is based on a heavy charged Higgs with mass above 500 GeV. It is found that double charged Higgs production cross section (being the same in 2HDM and MSSM) is few femtobarns, while the triple Higgs production cannot exceed a fraction of femtobarn within the parameter space under study.

Nuclear Fusion 62, no. 5 (March 15, 2022): 056005. http://dx.doi.org/10.1088/1741-4326/ac4061.

Abstract:
Abstract Doubly peaked density distribution is expected not only to affect the plasma-wetted area at divertor plates, but also to correlate with the upstream density profile and hence characteristics of magnetohydrodynamic activities in tokamak plasmas (Wang et al 2020 Phys. Rev. Lett. 124 195002). Clarifying its origin is important to understand the compatibility between power/particle exhausts in divertor and high-performance core plasmas required by present-day and future tokamak devices. In this paper, we analyze the double-peak density profile appearing in the modeling during the physics design phase of the new lower tungsten divertor for EAST by using a comprehensive 2D SOLPS-ITER code package, including full drifts and currents, with a concentration on an unfavorable magnetic field (ion B × ∇B drift is directed away from the primary X-point). The results indicate that E × B drift induced by the plasma potential gradient near the target, which is closely related to the divertor state, plays essential roles in the formation of a double-peak profile at the target: (1) large enough radial E p × B drift produces a broadened high-density region; (2) strong poloidal E r × B drift drives a significant particle sink and creates a valley on the high-density profile. Thus, the simulation results can explain why this kind of doubly peaked density profile is usually observed at the high-recycling divertor regime. In addition, features of the double-peak ion saturation current distribution measured in preliminary experiments testing the new lower tungsten divertor are qualitatively consistent with the simulations.

Abstract:
The supersymmetric generalization of Poisson–Lie T-duality in the N=2 superconformal WZNW models on the compact groups is considered. It is shown that the role of Drinfeld's doubles play the complexifications of the corresponding compact groups. These complex doubles are used to define the natural actions of the isotropic subgroups forming the doubles on the group manifolds of the N=2 superconformal WZNW models. The Poisson–Lie T-duality in N=2 superconformal U(2)-WZNW model is considered in details. It is shown that this model admits Poisson–Lie symmetries with respect to the isotropic subgroups forming Drinfeld's double Gl (2,C). Poisson–Lie T-duality transformation maps this model into itself but acts nontrivially on the space of classical solutions. Supersymmetric generalization of Poisson–Lie T-duality in N=2 superconformal WZNW models on the compact groups of higher dimensions is proposed.

Abstract:
In this paper the charged Higgs signal through triple or double Higgs production in a two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) type II is studied. The main production process is e+e- →H+H-H0 followed by the charged Higgs decay to a pair of τν and the neutral Higgs decay to [Formula: see text]. The alternative process H+W-H0 is also included as a source of charged Higgs signal in the analysis. The focus is on a future e+e- linear collider operating at [Formula: see text]. The final state under consideration [Formula: see text] is suitable for electroweak background rejection using the b-tagging tools. It is shown that although the signal cross-section is small, with a reasonable background suppression, high signal significance values are achievable at an integrated luminosity 500 fb-1 depending on the charged Higgs mass, tan β and the CP-odd neutral Higgs mass. Finally results are quoted in terms of the signal significance for charged Higgs in the mass range 160 < mH± < 400 GeV .

Abstract:
Doubly bridged biphenyl azocines can be prepared in a single step through copper-catalyzed reactions of a doubly bridged biphenyl azepine and diazodiester reagents. Double [1,2]-Stevens rearrangements occur at 100 °C to afford doubly tethered eight-membered rings (49 to 61%) as trans and cis regioisomers (1:1 ratio). These products present an axial chirality. ECD and VCD analyses of the separated enantiomers (CSP-HPLC) were used to assign the absolute configuration. High configurational stability is observed for both regioisomers as racemization does not occur after 1 week of heating at 208 °C in dodecane (ΔG ‡ > 41 kcal·mol–1). Interestingly, reactions performed at 40 °C retain a certain level of enantiospecificity (82–86%), avoiding, for the most part, thermal racemization of the starting material.

Abstract:
Although the Australian road freight transport industry has seen three mass limits reviews in the mid 1970s, the mid 1980s and in the late 1990s, (Hassall, 2005), there were two very significant truck configuration changes that happened in the mid 1980s and then again in the early 2000s. The first was the trials of a variant of the Canadian B-train (the B-Double) which was introduced into Australia in the mid 1980s. This ‘Australian’ B-Double could achieve payloads some 30% to 40% higher than the conventional ‘semi trailer’ articulated combination. By 2016 some 18,900 of these vehicles were operational in Australia. The second adoption of new vehicle configurations started in 1999 through the National Road Transport Commission (NRTC), who adopted, and further developed, another Canadian concept, that of “Performance Based Standards” (PBS). This effectively allowed for new, flexible truck designs, as long as the vehicles performed against a set of 17 specific technical engineering performance criteria. This Performance Based Standards approach, since 1998, also allowed even larger configurations to B-Doubles to be used by operators. The benefits already of these new configurations has delivered billions of dollars in kilometre savings to the road freight industry and to its customers, as well as very significant safety benefits to the community.

Abstract:
A rapid, sensitive and selective analytical method was validated to determine imidacloprid residue in okra using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a photodiode array detector (UHPLC-PDA). The analytical method showed good linearity, and the limit of quantification was 0.025 mg/kg. Recoveries were ranged from 92.40 to 109.68%, with the relative standard deviation (RSD) of 1.87 to 4.84%. Field results showed that the mean initial deposit of imidacloprid on okra fruits were found to be 0.29 and 0.43 µg.g-1, recommended and doubled the dose, respectively. The residues reached below the detection limit (BDL) of less than 0.025 µg.g-1 on 7 and 10 days after treatment with the recommended and doubled the recommended dose, respectively. The half-life of imidacloprid in okra was 1.58 and 2.02 days, at recommended and double the recommended dose, respectively and a harvest withholding period of one day has been suggested for safe consumption.

Abstract:
The influence of damages on the insulator’s surface in the distribution system is investigated in this paper. The circular resin is used as the specimen under high voltage direct current (HVDC) between the electrodes with diameter of 2 mm and distance between both electrodes are 35 mm. There are three cases in the experiment and it was tested in environmental condition under dry surface, single droplet and double droplets. The HVDC had been applied to the electrodes, the level of applied were 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 kV. The results show that the arc occurs rapidly in the case of single and double drops with compared to dry surface. The movements of the water drop of the single and doubles are pretty similar, but the arc occurs quickly in the double drop in comparison with single drop owing to double drops stretch to each other. The double drops take a lower voltage on stretching, whereas the single drop takes higher because the double drops have much more densities than single drop. Besides, the double drops act as a bridge allow the electrical field generated from both electrodes pulled them resulting in arcing easily. In conclusion, the droplets on the surfaces cause the leakage current and it has an effect on the stability of the distribution system.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Topographic depressions within permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) on low-obliquity planetary bodies can be shielded not only from direct illumination, but also from scattered sunlight and thermal emission from nearby sunlit surfaces. We apply an illumination model to high-resolution topography data to produce the first map of double shadows at the lunar poles. The total doubly shadowed area resolved at the 30 m scale is 1.47 km2 in the northern hemisphere and 5.37 km2 in the southern hemisphere, predominantly contained within small craters on the floors of large permanently shadowed craters. In total, ∼0.04% of PSR area is permanently double shadowed, but the largest double shadows are nearly 600 m across, potentially large enough to be resolved in remote sensing temperature measurements. In the absence of secondary heating sources, double shadows are predicted to be significantly colder than singly shadowed areas and could sequester highly volatile compounds like carbon dioxide. Future in situ investigation of the regions identified in this work can elucidate the origin and distribution of the Moon’s most volatile deposits.

Abstract:
Widely reports have evaluated the use of biochar (BC) composites to layered double hydroxide (LDH) to adsorb dyes from wastewater. However, its applicability for adsorbing a mixture of cationic dyes such as Malachite green (MG), Rodhamine-B (Rh-B), and Methylene blue (MB), which causes carcinogenic and mutagenic effects on aquatic life, has not been studied. In this work, we compared the performance of CaAl-LDH/BC adsorbent with or without the addition of BC in the adsorption of cationic dyes. The adsorption study was prepared in a batch system using various temperatures, concentrations, and also contact time. The results of the characterization of Ca/Al-Biochar composite showed the unique diffraction of XRD pattern, and also showed two characteristics of starting materials. Surface area analysis by BET method showed Ca/Al-Biochar composite has a higher surface area than starting material. The results of the adsorption study of MG showed that Ca/Al-Biochar follows the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The adsorption capacity of MG on Ca/Al-Biochar was up to 71.429 mg/g and shows selectivity toward MG in an aqueous solution. Copyright © 2021 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group. Abstract:
Double photoionization events provide a direct evaluation of electron correlation. The recent focus on few-electron targets continues to reveal the consequences of electron correlation for targets that possess several electrons. We consider the double photoionization of the 2p2 valence electrons of atomic carbon and focus on the first energetically accessible final-state symmetries that originate from coupling the active electrons in 3P configurations, which are doubly ionized by a single photon. Comparison of this process in carbon with neon provides an analogous case for the resulting final-state symmetries within the framework where the ejected electrons are influenced by the remaining bound electrons in a frozen-core approximation. Choosing this symmetry allows for comparison with previous theoretical results for total and energy sharing cross-sections of carbon. Fully differential cross-sections for both carbon and neon are also compared.

Abstract:
The recent CLEO-c results on hadronic decays of D and Ds mesons are presented. First the absolute branching fractions for D and Ds mesons using a double tag technique are discussed, then are the Cabibbo suppressed decays and doubly Cabibbo suppressed decays. Finally, I present the inclusive and rare decay modes and other measurements from CLEO-c. These decays illuminate a wide range of physics. A brief theoretical introduction is given before the corresponding discussion on measurement.
