"Relationship between Posture and Non-Contact Lower Limb Injury in Young Male Amateur Football Players: A Prospective Cohort Study." International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health 18, no. 12 (June 14, 2021): 6424. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/ijerph18126424.

Abstract:
Posture, a potentially modifiable injury risk factor, is considered important in injury screening/prevention in athletes, yet few studies investigate relationships between posture and injury. This prospective cohort study investigated whether static posture is associated with lower limb injury risk in male football players (n = 263). Nine aspects of static standing posture (left and right rearfoot, knee interspace, lateral knee, lumbar lordosis, thoracic kyphosis, scoliosis S and C, forward head) were assessed from photographs during the pre-season using the modified Watson and Mac Donncha scale, which was dichotomised for analysis (deviated or normal). Player characteristics (age, height, mass, body mass index, competition level), match/training exposure, and previous and in-season non-contact lower limb injuries were recorded. Binary logistic regression investigated relationships between posture and injury (previous and in-season). Eighty previous and 24 in-season lower limb injuries were recorded. Previous injury was not associated with any postural variable. In-season injury was associated with previous injury (OR = 3.04, 95% CI 1.20–7.68, p = 0.02) and having a normal thoracic curve compared to kyphosis (OR = 0.38, 95% CI 0.15–1.00, p = 0.05) but no other postural variables. Static postural deviations observed in male football players in the pre-season are not typically associated with non-contact lower limb injury risk; thus, they are unlikely to add value to pre-season screening programs.

Kamau, Laura-Margaret Ngahere Te Pohe. "'Maori Sovereignty' Donna Awatere - 1982." Thesis, University of Canterbury. Humanities, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/10092/7000.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis explores the ambivalent nature of Maori political theory as expressed through the writings of Donna Awatere in her publication Maori Sovereignty. Consequently it traces the intellectual history of Maori political thought with a particular emphasis on how Maori have traditionally perceived and advanced their ‘sovereignty’ and its equivalent term, ‘tino rangatiratanga’. The reason for this emphasis is to show how Awatere changed Maori perception of their tino rangatiratanga when she coined the phrase ‘Maori Sovereignty’ in 1982. This work offers an insider’s account into New Zealand’s ‘movements of unity’ that had occurred during the 1970’s and 1980’s based on Awatere’s personal experiences and involvement in various groups. Further it sets out to capture the influences and events that led Awatere to write Maori Sovereignty in order to demonstrate how she had advanced Maori understanding of their tino rangatiratanga. In addition, its attempts to broaden Maori understanding of their tino rangatiratanga by analysing Awatere’s political theory in juxtaposition with global trends, more specifically, the decolonisation and nationalistic processes that occurred in the decades following World War Two. This thesis argues that Maori Sovereignty differed greatly from any other work previously written by both Maori and Pakeha as it challenged existing interpretations of how Maori had perceived and had advanced their tino rangatiratanga. Subsequently, Maori Sovereignty has carved its place as one of New Zealand’s most debated and misunderstood publication to ever come out of the 1980’s and because of this, the lack of proper analysis has given cause for this thesis.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis is a metaphysical reading of the feminine figure in Montale’s poetry. The thesis is in two parts, three chapters each. In the first chapter of the first part, the essential dialect of the relation between the poet and the woman, presence/absence is read in relation to classical and biblical mythology. In the second chapter, Bergson’s theories on the memory shed light on the creative function of the involuntary memory in Montale, especially in the Occasioni. In the third chapter, we offer some philosophical and mystic background for the metaphysical poetic of Montale. The second part of the thesis treats the notion of allegory. In the first chapter, we explain how allegory is the necessary technique for such a type of poetic. In the second, the allegory is in the center of the dialogue between Montale and the tradition (especially Dante). The last chapter shows how Montale’s allegory distinguished his style from other symbolic trends in vogue in the early Twentieth Century.

Marson, Chiara <1985&gt. "La medicalizzazione del corpo della donna." Master's Degree Thesis, Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10579/2909.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
This practice-led DCI thesis identifies and examines a series of contemporary funding models, including conventions and industry expectations, and the pitching processes being employed by practitioners in a dynamic and uncertain documentary filmmaking marketplace. In the context of digital disruption, the proliferation of TV channels and online broadcast platforms and increasingly limited funding sources, practitioners must be more innovative at the business end of the production chain. In response, a key output of the research project is an informed and informative handbook for practitioners entitled A Documentary Filmmaker's Guide to Pitching.

Figini, Ambra. "Aleksandra Kollontaj e la nuova donna sovietica." Bachelor's thesis, Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, 2016. http://amslaurea.unibo.it/11362/.

Full text
Abstract:

Master's Degree Thesis, Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/10579/6470.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
The act of naming characters in the novel Donna Alba by Gib I. Mihăescu is an obvious way to individualize the respective characters and to unmask their notable features or their more or less noble ancestry. In this regard, this paper is a semantic and etymological analysis of the anthroponymy in the above-mentioned novel. The research aims to illustrate the symbolic meaning and literary function of the characters’ names as a way of conveying the message of the literary work. Thus, the names of Gib Mihăescu’s characters reflect the values and multicultural influences specific to the age depicted in the novel, by virtue of the careful selection of the words fulfilling an onymic role, and as a result of the use or phonetic adaptation of foreign anthroponyms.

Abstract:
This paper considers how research by design and innovative technologies can join in the development of a collective project in Architectural Education. Based on the book Staying with the Trouble by Donna J. Haraway, this paper establishes a method called Sympoiesis methodology in which a theoretical framework is introduced that consists of collective design, prototype interaction and robotic fabrication. The aim of the paper is to propose a new method in architectural design studio teaching based on collective problem-solving access through making-with prototypes over the implementation of robotic fabrication. Finally, a 6-week seminar studio is presented as a case study, illustrating the proposed framework and helping determine its applicability, impact and limitations, to establish a more profound dialogue between new technologies and digital tools in new participatory learning spaces in the best practices and design in Architectural Education.

Abstract:
SHORT PAPER. This paper is an effort to examine the codes of interaction between the carbon-based and the silicon-based, i.e., the human and the machine, notably the shifting agencies addressed by adopting feminist technoscientific and new materialist lenses to grapple with the techno-industrial paradigm shift that has been (dis)figuring the anthropocentric condition. The first part of the paper lays down the qualities of this emerging ecology while recognizing the importance of human accountability and situatedness. The focal point of this survey is the anthropologist Lucy Suchman’s classic Human-Machine Reconfigurations which is elaborated upon through anchor points she posits revisiting Donna Haraway and Karan Barad’s arguments. The last part engages with the implications of such a coupling for human and machine sensoria in order to envisage the qualities of a distributive sensorium that this regenerative agency can put forth while alluding to practices of situated computing.

As part of an ongoing postdoctoral research on post-human motherhoods in media art, the paper examines selected artistic expressions of mother-offspring bonding and its relationships with different technological cultural basis. The introduction addresses the handling of the concept of the mother and its related operations in the research scope. Following this, we suggest as standing points for reflection both the material basis of the placenta and playfulness as elements shaping the mother-offspring bonding. They constitute fundamental aspects triggering affection in the potential symbiotic relationship established in mother-offspring bonding. The discussion is permeated by artwork examples, brought on demand to the text to feed the reflection. The notions of “natureculture” by Donna Haraway and the theoretical framework by Second-order Cybernetics are grounding references. The final considerations point towards the human and post-human aspects of motherhood revealed by the artworks, as well as to the need for concrete actions towards the reduction of the gender-based technological gap in media art, in order to increase the imaginary variability of the field.

Abstract:
In the second of the Theses Review series Dr Donna Henson reviews the work of Elizabeth Revell. ‘This thesis presents an interesting and thoughtful autoethnographic inquiry into the manifestation of race in everyday communication interactions in New Zealand. An uncommon choice of both topic and method in the local communication disciplinary context, Revell presents a partial collaborative autoethnographic approach to the study that entails the reflexive analysis of qualitative data drawn from solicited participant diaries, semi-structured interviews and focus groups.
