Full textCertain scientific developments have improved the life quality of profoundly deaf people, by enhancing their hearing at such a level that can capture the specificity of the human voice. The cochlear implant is one of these important advances. This dissertation contributes to the knowing and learning of previously profoundly deaf children, now fitted with these devices. The theoretical support based on Winnicott, present throughout the development of the research, is studied. Ten cases are selected based on criteria of the hospital where these children and their families are assisted and homogenization criteria are used for a group of children in the age range four to six years, and for their respective families. Contextualized psychological assessments are performed individually (child and environment) through interviews, participating observation and the application of Lynns Structured Doll Play, with ludic scenes, through which the children play and bring their own reality. Based on the applicable literature and these psychological evolutions, the research presents innovations on the knowledge of the developmental process of these children, whose development is partially impaired by their profound deafness, by the invasive hearing surgery and subsequent followup. The main purpose of this work, with others, are to achieve the research objectives, i.e., learn more about these children and their learning processes through their playing, directed to their daily routine

Full textThis study aims to show the psychoanalytical investigation of the settings assumed by the countertransference field, which is established in psychological sessions, psychoanalytically oriented, in patients infected with HIV. Four teenagers, positives for HIV by vertical transmission, were psychoanalytically assisted by different clinical setting, which included individual psychotherapy sessions, psychotherapeutic workshops and outdoors activities, according to demand. This complex clinical case originates the development of four transference narratives, which were psychoanalytically revisited, in search of the creation/gathering of countertransference fields. The overall clinical picture allows us to state that, beyond the countertransference resonances associated to peculiarities related to adolescence and to the vicissitude of individual stories, is possible to detect the presence of a countertransference field clearly characterized by compassion. This configuration suscitate theoretical-clinical reflections that point out that the ontological issues caused by precariousness, limitation and finitude, as the current real life conditions, such as illness, experience of pain, severe treatment, the orphanhood and the social exclusion, must be thoroughly considered in the care of these patients

Full textThe present work aims at raise a discussion about the Donald W. Winnicott and Jean Piagets conceptions of the human development. In spite of the undeniable distinctions relative to their searching purposes, as well as the theoretical-epistemological traditions which support their theories, the present research starts from the presupposition of a constitutive link between the ways of the objectification and subjectification traced by the human being trough the life. Since developing subjects point of view, it is assumed the existence of a primordial indifferentiation between the notions of self and external world, which, according to both authors, would be characteristic of the first months of life. From this moment the way of development would be able to lead, little by little, to a distinction between these two terms, leading to a self perception as a being of limited dimensions, concomitantly to a conception of a permanent and solid external universe. It is considered, on the one hand, the Piagetian theory as a system of thought occupied with searching the development of human capacity to apprehend the laws of external universe. On the other, the Winnicottian theory is recognized as a point of view on the processes of personality formation and the achievement of singularity. From the supposition of an inevitable link between such ways, it is admitted the dialogue between both theories, and it is proposed to search the extent of the occasional possibility of connection between them.

Full textThe Winnicotts Psychoanalysis is based on the belief that the creative life is related to health. Winnicott has proposed the Therapeutic Consultations, when the psychotherapy was not possible and the person could be helped with just a few meetings. He has created the Squiggle Game, in which the contact between therapist and patient occurs through drawings. It is understood that the sum of these features allows an articulation of this theory to the practice of Art Therapy, a therapeutic intervention that offers artistic resources to facilitate expression and communication. It was aimed on this research to build a proposal of intervention with families, in a practice of Art Psychotherapy guided by Winnicotts Psychoanalysis, applied to an institutional context. This is a qualitative research in Clinical Psychology, through which 10 families were attended, clients of an institution of attention of family violence cases.. The family psychotherapeutic process was undertaken with the provision of artistic resources available in an \"art box\" consisted of different expressive materials and available in the consultations. It was chose three families to deepen the understanding of the process, focusing on the importance of the initial meetings in the construction of the family therapeutic process, with the use of Art Therapy as a facilitator of communication of thoughts and feelings and on the limits and scope of this form of therapy. It was noticed that families had difficulties to join the intervention, with early discontinuation of care. It is understood that this interruption may have occurred due to the proposal to reflect on family experiences, the pain resulted from the violence and the questions about the roles that each person occupies in the family. The use of artistic materials facilitated and enriched the contributions of children and adolescents. It also supplemented the understanding of adults, with its rare but revealing productions, in addition to improve the understanding of family dynamics. Despite the difficulties encountered, particularly related with the focus on the family as the sessions patient, in psychological care in institutions for family violence cases, it is considered that observing the family as the patient is indeed necessary. Finally, it was noted that the Art Therapy could be a facilitator of the psychotherapeutic process with these families, because it minimizes the resistance and increases the understanding of the group, with higher gains provided by the intervention.

Full textSearch for a global vision of the creative phenomenon and for that selects as object of study the creative experience, once that usually such studies of creativity are addressed to the apprehension of its aspects of manifestation, as follows: the person, the process, the product or the ambient circumstances involved in the creating event. The study is based on interviews with people from different professional areas, reporting their experience with the creativy and, utilises as theoretical guide, the theory of the emotional development by D. W. Winnicott, mainly due to the fact that this theoretical proposal represents a original approach of the creative phenomenon. The reports from the interviews show many of existing themes at Winnicotts theory, such as, the Creative Potential, the Function of Creativity and the Facilitator Factor of the Affectiveness. The surveys result shows three new elements of comprehension of the creativity: the presence of a feeling of appropriation that indicates a compromise with the creative process, the existence of a internal order that guide the actions related to the experience and the existence of a space and a time pertaining to the creating activity. From a deeper refletion of the results, the study distinguishes the importance of the relationship between the creativity and the development of the human beings affective qualities, once that both them are met in the basis of the human evolution.

Full textThis work arose from the experience as a psychologist in the Institute of Orthopedist and Traumatology of the Hospital das Clinicas of the faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. More specifically along the years working on the Group of Prothesis and Orthesis, with people that suffered amputation of one or more members. The loss of a part of the body involves significant changes in the life of a person. The amputations originated from accidents in general have a characteristic of being sudden and unpredictable causing abrupt alterations in which no preparation is made possible. The main subject which directed this work concerns the psychic consequences that a physical loss causes. We intend to understand in what way, from a rupture of the body, there is the interference of the psychic organization and in what way the person notices the world and perceives himself in it; this, during the period of rehabilitation. We wanted to reflect about the moment of the loss of the integrity of the body and its reflexes on the psychosomatic unit, from clinical cases, with the theoretical reference of maturing of D. W. Winnicott. In this way, we took into account the course of the emotional development according to the theory of personal maturing to reflect about the possible relation existing between the stages reached on the proper tasks of the normal development of the person and the consequences in terms of continuity or not of the process of maturing after the amputation. For this investigation we used the clinical method and the psychoanalysis reference. For the analysis of the subject proposed in this work we presented four clinical cases. The loss of a part of the body caused changes in all of the persons which were part of this study. Changed the body, the way to move, the job, the personal and family maintenance, the social contact. In the other hand the way through which each one perceives, signifies and lives this loss and these changes was not equivalent nor determined by the quality of the loss. This way, we conclude that the psychic consequences of a physical loss are those related to the conditions that each person has to elaborate imaginatively the loss and transform it in a way of life, experience, personal and interpersonal story. The articulation of the theory with the analysis and discussion of the clinical material permitted to notice that it is not possible to characterize a clinic of the amputated. This because what we have are as many clinics as we are able to know the amputated persons in their process of personal maturing previous to the amputation. Or else, an amputation does not direct unconditionally the way that a person exists in the world, but implies in significant alteration of his existence, what refers to a need of reformulations in his identity to include this new dimension of experience. The difficulty in accomplishing the imaginative elaboration of this loss, can transform the amputation in a non integrated occurence in the life of a person, with bad consequences to his health and to his development.

Abstract: The objective of this dissertation is to organize the contributions of D.W.WINNICOTT, paediatrician, child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst to the theory of emotional developmeni of the infant and the child during the first years of life. Following two parallel and frequently crossing paths, WINNICOTT'S theory studies on the one hand the emotiona] growth of the infant, and on the other, the mother's qualities, the changes in these qualities and the maternal care which satisfies the specific needs of the infant. This dissertation is divided as follows: introduction, four chapters and an epilogue. The author used the complete works of W1NNICOTT as the primary source of research. but did not attempt an epistemological analysis of thc aforesaid. In the introduction the author presents a brief overall view of D. W. W1NNICOTT the man and the clinician. who arrived at psychoanalysis through his work as a paediatrician. In this way, by means of a constant dialogue between these two principaJ infll1ences. he made his theoretical contributions to a great variety of subjects alI of which contained the study of the emotional growth of the infant in its earliest stages and the role played by maternal care during this period. Chapter one describes the infant's journey from the period of absolute dependence. followed by a period of relative dependence, arriving finally at independence or alltonomy, which is never absolute. For WINNICOTT this journey is only made possible by the mother's knowledge of theinfant's dependence during the initial stages of development. This allows the mother to correspond to the ego-needs and instinctual needs of the infant, adapting almost perfectly to them and creating a setting which WINNICOTT termed environment provision, thus permitting the maturational processes of the baby to be revealed through an impulse for integration and for the development of a personal and real self. In chapter II the author describes the beginnings of primitive emotional development during the total independence period when the infant is in a state of being merged in with the mother. Concentrating on the study of ego development where a continuity of being is experienced, due to good-enough maternal care, there are three main realizations shown in the chapter a) integration, that is, the infant acquires the status of being a unit b) personalization or psychosomatic insertion which allows the baby to feel himself living inside his own body and which makes it possible to equate the skin as a membrane which delimits an interior and an exterior c) initiation of object-relating ...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations.

Full textBased on a process of investigation, contemplation and studies of images of Madonnas namely by painting, drawing and sculpture the aim of this paper is to find out the effects of these works on the soul of the contemporary human being, its therapeutic value and its health improving relationship. This study is of qualitative and interdisciplinary nature with interphases in philosophy, religion, art, history of art and psychoanalysis. The images of the Madonnas put a new aspect to the questioning of the mystery of birth, human life, of communication with each other and the mystery of the divine within man. This research work was carried out by using the phenomenological process as proposed by Pavel Florensky. A research worker investigated the images using this means and worked out possibilities of interpretation on each of them. Further the work is followed up by investigation of the use of images in therapy

Full textThe present paper aims to reveal the clinical meeting in detail, when one proposes therapeutic encounters with pregnant women, having D. W. Winnicott as an interlocutor. It takes an alternative way which releases the researcher from sterile intellectualism or poor scientificism, in order to bring closer the scientific doing and the clinical practice, that is adopted here as a matrix of clinical psychology research. The psychoanalytical encounter is here proposed as a methodological approach, drawing from winnicottian view of psychoanalysis the theoretical presupposes which guide this work, where holding shows itself as its basic procedure. Five case histories from our motherhood clinic were selected, allowing the reader to become closer to every womans singularity during their motherhood experiences, and also to some generalizations about human condition. Five psychoanalytical narratives are weaved from dialogues between the psychoanalyst-researcher and her patients, her own history, her preferred authors and her peers, transforming the raw material, in this case life, into histories that become themselves links of an infinite chain of human gestures, after being shared with others.

Full textThis work is part of researches interested in developing different clinic features of work based on theory, and capable to attend emotional and existential necessities created by contemporary life. It presents the narrative of a non-conventional clinic experience, and the reflections that came up during that experience, in a very close interaction with Winnicott´s thoughts. The structure of the text, in what it concerns the narrative and the reflections, tries to follow very closely, the way this work has been accomplished, consisting of a succession of different meetings: with the teenagers, with the memories of what happened during the plays while writing down the experience after each play, with other psychoanalysts from: Ser e Fazer: Laboratory of Mental Health and Social Clinic Psychology, and with Winnicott´s thoughts. Inspired in the squiggle game, this different kind of work that has been developed, is characterized by the use of the Theatre of Spontaneity as a Presentation-Expression procedure in order to establish a playful atmosphere capable of supporting the teenager happening. Using a suitcase full of several different objects available for the creation of costumes, the teenagers have the opportunity of acting some plays in group. Nine narratives of plays about weddings and death are presented in order to give the reader a better idea of the clinic experience we have been studying. It is possible to observe that these meetings provide the establishment of a playful dialogue among the teenagers, offering them the opportunity for expressing some of the dramas that worry them, and for trying new ways of being and of behaving in front of the situations brought up in the group. Since the focus of this study is not to produce psychological know-how about adolescence, but to study the acceptance of this different clinical feature of work, there arent any intentions of bringing any conclusion about adolescence, even though the theatre of spontaneity has permitted observing some of the dramas those teenagers have been facing. Its correct to conclude that it refers to a very powerful and suitable clinical proposal of work, since, by playing, it permits expression, surprise and symbolic articulation of self-aspects.

Full textIn the field of psychodiagnostic in children, scientific works have pointed to the recognition that drawings can be used as a valuable resource. Belonging to this field of studies, the present investigation aims at discussing the possibility of amplifying the use of the drawing with yet another element: the elaboration of a joint drawing by the family group during the diagnostic interview with the family. The method employed was the clinical qualitative research with psychoanalytical basis, particularly the one developed by Donald Winnicott. As to proceedings, two psychodiagnostic assessments of children were carried out at a university institution. In both of them, the work consisted of the following sequential steps: anamnesis interview with the parents; play observation with the child; Family Drawing-and-Story Procedure; family interview; feedback interview. In the end, the discussion mainly focused on the following points: the use of joint drawing helped to express the conflicts present in the children and in the family group; besides being a psychological assessment, the psychodiagnostic process we employed became a form of clinical intervention; the Winnicottian concept of potential space helped to understand the phenomena

Full textThis study gathers some concerns borne from clinical practice with children, especially those with severe disturbances in development, such as autism and psychosis. Following the coordinates provided by psychoanalysis, the analyst works with an extensive theoretical framework around the theme of subjectivity, revealing multiple contours according with his clinical orientation, where the theoretical impasses usually arise from the resistance to dialogue with different perspectives of understanding the subject. Discussing the meanings of subjective constitution for psychoanalysis, we hope to demonstrate how you can find different models of understanding what the infant is, the primordial relation, the integrative role of the other, the culture and, finally, the concern. By promoting a dialogue among multiple perspectives, we expects to encourage reflection on the work of the analyst, betting that, through the dialogue between Winnicott and Lacan, authors whose are considered so far at first sight, a theoretical renewing could appear. Following the route that both devoted to the topic of subjective constitution, supported by the relationship between the baby and the other, the aim propose of this study is to articulate the notion of absolute dependence of early stages of human life and the ability of the analyst to deal with different possibilities to develop clinical practice. The reflections promoted some conclusions, especially on the perspective of a psychoanalytic practice guided by heterogeneity and plasticity theory. We must clarify that the proposed dialogue does not constitute an attempt to transform a theory into another one, based on comparisons that aim to find common understanding and to eliminate differences due to a false harmony. On the other hand, it is not also worried to establish a point of coining insurmountable limits by increasing the differences between them, which may result in exposures reductionist and sterile. The challenge faced here means not yielding to the temptation to simplify the complex, but to preserve the productive heterogeneity of both theory, preserving a model of understanding, from the early stages of subjectivity, sufficiently sensitive to different strategies and clinical demands. At the end of the journey, we find a point of convergence between the theories of Lacan and Winnicott focus on the function of the other in the process of subjective constitution and the resistance against the understanding of psychoanalysis as a practice of internalization, which on both theories we can recognize the privilege of a radical decentralization on the relations. It seems clear, therefore, that subject does not comes with birth, it is installed under warranty of some original conditions, where we are constantly moving on the thin line between what ensures that the subject could arise to the point of imprisoning the subjective into other\'s desire

Full textThe object of the current work is the psychoanalytic study of the feminine loving experience held within the imagery of contemporary women. It methodologically establishes a differentiated investigative setting from the paradigmatic use of the Squiggle Game by D. W. Winnicott, which allows the making of a set of cards depicting daily life situations. The dialogue between the researcher and the persona of the collective Woman is developed along two separate interviews. The emerging narratives, where made up stories and personal memories are entwined, favored the creation/encounter of a non-conscious psychological field. This field made it clear that in some kinds of links, regressed ways of emotional dependence are masked by loving and erotic demonstrations. In terms of the collective imagery of the present days, this point of view makes it possible to understand that the exaltation of womens love related suffering, covers up the not acknowledged existential difficulties related to aspects of the self which have not been totally fulfilled.

Full textThis study aims at investigating on a psychoanalytical basis the mutative potentiality of spontaneous theater workshops in the attendance to adolescents at professional choice phase, which we conceive, on a Winnicott basis, as spontaneous gesture when it can happen emotionally mature and integrated. The work was conducted with seven private school students, during two weeks, in five group sessions lasting up to three hours. The clinical happening followed the workshops configuration \"Being and Doing\", characterized by the use of mediator materialities, upon the adoption of the holding as essential intervention by the continuous dialogue with Winnicott thought. Psychoanalytical narratives have been prepared in the light of the psychoanalytical method, in the sense of searching for evidences of transformations of the experiential psychological fields. As from the analyses, it was possible to notice the occurrence of significant transformations in the emotional experience related to the professional choice, which may be attributed to the fact that the young people were able to use on a transitional basis a fundamentally supporting environment.

Full textThis work wishes to discuss how the mother-baby relationship affects the development of body image in children with cerebral palsy. First of all some ideas of Freud and Ferenczi, the founder of Psychoanalisis and one of his first followers, are presented, to arrive to Winnicott´s ideas, also a psychanalist, but with a revolucionary vision of child development. This three aspects: body image, cerebral palsy and the role of the mother, are discussed, with their relation to each other. Next, concepts from Winnicott are presented, such as holding, handling, personalization, self and the role of the mother´s face as a precursor of the mirror. The objective is to discuss this subject to understand better the children with this kind of disability, so we can work better with them, their mothers, and those who arrive adults to our clinic, who show a suffering that seems to be related to their growing and their relationship with their own bodies. It´s well known (following Winnicott´s trail of thought) that the interaction with the mother is essential for the capacity of existing and living with creativity, of living in your own body, within all people. Between children with cerebral palsy, there is this other aspect (sequels brought by cerebral palsy) that affects motherbaby interactions, making the growing process, the relation with their own bodies, more complex. However, this doesn´t mean that the child can´t develop and reach this creative living and the development of a body image that allow a good relation with the world. Gladly, the child with cerebral palsy can find this meaning and live happy and with creativity, despite and with the cerebral palsy. The methodology used was a research in the literature, in databases like BVS-PSI, which directs the research to Scielo, Lilacs and Pubmed, amongst papers published in the last ten years. No work was found that studied the relations between cerebral palsy, body image and mother-baby interaction, as proposed in the present work, which confirmed the relevance of the present dissertation

Full textThe suffering is part of the life, and the man has as challenge of its existence to give a direction to it. In psychological and physical suffering, they appear some basic questions of the existence human being to be analyzed, such as, to reorient the person in suffering to discover new adequacy to reality, to find ethos and pathos. The objective of this work was simultaneously to follow psychological suffering of people under psychological consulting, involved with processes in transaction at justice; and to make psychological intervention with patient, family members, and responsible members to find relief for its anxieties, needing to establish some parameters, and differentiated development of psychotherapy. The adopted theoretical support was psychoanalysis and other contemporary conceptions of human mind. The adopted conception estimates different epistemological levels, articulating its projection of psychology and with the source of psychoanalysis and social sciences characterized by the after-modernity crisis of social representation. The effect of these factors fall again into the individual, its family and the institutions. 10 children and boys had been studied, but only two were selected for being considered an emblematic case, representing all population. On the basis of the Ethics Code of Psychologists, marking out with buoys dynamics of the consultees in the presented cases, establishing setting as resource to reach a holding environment, inside of the parameters allowed in the basic principles of the Ethics. The existence of a singular psychological suffering in the people was observed in this study whom they need Justice. This suffering encloses pain and suffering, generating emotional instability, and makes it difficult the execution of activities that if presents in the daily one. In the development of the work, some specific discoveries had motivated some reflections and conclusions. The nature of the violence is singular and collective, and appears as a problem of psychic health, that causes in turn an increasing increase of the violence. Imperfections in the development of self exist, wronged for the caused internalized object distortions, in turn, for the situation of lived deeply violence. How much bigger the distortion was, greater was the emotional damage. The introjection of paternal and maternal figure can mean a holding or a disastrous experience. The aid on the part of familiar and the responsible ones ahead of the impact occurred in the diverse situations lived for the citizens, the quality of the existing bond is proportional. The narratives of the citizens contain a collective speech of persecutory elements, as the disdain, the shame, the fear, and the intense and continuous conflict. As much was verified that the victim as the aggressor, familiar involved and the responsible ones, need cares and deserve the chance to receive attendance psychological, minimizing the impact of the psychic sufferings ahead of the legal processes as well as alleviating the individual and collective effect of the violence.

This work aims to understand the capacity to be alone from the psychoanalytic perspective of D. Winnicott, thus seeking the importance of this theoretical formulation for human maturation and, consequently, showing its relevance to the clinic. In our clinical experience, we find many people who fear being alone and are always in search of someone or something to do. And very often we listen to these individuals who, when alone, do not know what to do, feel lost, helpless, so they prefer to work without rest to feel alive. This led us to interest in the study of the capacity to be alone in the light of Winnicottian psychoanalytic thinking. For this, in view of the classical principle of hermeneutics, in which each concept of an author must be elucidated in the totality of his work, one sought the comprehension of the capacity to be alone in the whole psychoanalytic thought of D. W. Winnicott. In this way, we tried to contextualize the starting point of the Winnicottian psychoanalytic vision and global comprehension of its psychoanalytic perspective, emphasizing some concepts, such as: the human animal, the experience animal, the ego and id, his notion of Instinct and drive, that of false and true self, that of ego (egorelatedness), the paradox, that of favorable environment, and especially its fundamental theory of human emotional maturation. We emphasize these concepts, therefore, as they support the understanding of the study theme. From this, we sought to reflect on the ability to be alone and to explain the understanding of this original Winnicottian formulation, served as a clinical case attended and described by Winnicott himself, the so-called case B. From the theory of emotional maturity of DW Winnicott, the ability to be alone is associated with an important initial moment of human development: the essential solitude. With evolving from the integrative process of the individual, five fundamental themes need to be established for him to experience being alone, as ability: first, the status of a unitary identity; Acquisition of a personality and a personal identity (true self); Third, the organization of the egoic nucleus that makes possible to experience a personal environment; Fourth, personal development facilitated by the maternal environment and, finally, the recognition and incorporation of maternal (mother-environment) care as a good object. Thus, in Winnicott's perspective, being alone as a capacity is a highly sophisticated phenomenon, in which the individual enjoying emotional health can experience, with all confidence in himself and in the environment in which he is inserted, being with himself, calmly, Being able to rest, relax without losing contact with shared reality and, moreover, live their interpersonal relationships, be it friendship or loving, with personal sense, experiencing them as real and valiant
Destacamos tais conceitos, pois, eles sustentam o entendimento do tema do estudo.

Full textThe aim of this study is to discuss stories as cultural experience, facilitating childrens development and their effect in the process itself in the classroom -relationship with the teacher, interaction in the group, productions, stories brought by the children. Therefore let us consider transitionality and potential space in the institutional space. The research starts from a psychoanalytic investigation which is beyond the consulting office walls and the regular school. According to D. W. Winnicott, the English pediatrician and psychoanalyst (1896-1971), the concept of transitional space should be considered. The doubts and reflections brought up here aim to contribute to the practice of those who work with children, seeking new eyes that contemplate the interrelation and the structural position of others in human development and in constitution of cultural experience. The adventures of Alice in Wonderland are used as a consulting wire. The tripod psychoanalysis, education and culture, need to have other authors, thinkers, interlocutors in this process. The material was collected in two semesters from two groups of 12 children each, studying at Escola Municipal de Iniciação Artística EMIA. One class had 6-year-old children and the other had 10-year-old children. In loco observations, notes, records on video, photos, recordings on tape, written registers, drawing collections, stories and other materials (produced by the children), parents meetings, besides the experience are the fundamental tools of this research process.

Full textConsidering that parents have an important role in the early diagnosis of autism and in the provision of special care to the child, this study has investigated the affective-emotional senses through the parental experience of two heterosexual couples and three mothers facing their child s diagnosis of autism. We have adopted a qualitative methodology and an investigative procedure called Interactive Narrative, which consists on a fictional story, created by the researcher. The story is interrupted and the participants are invited to complete it. The researcher made a register of each meeting that included the parents narratives, the researcher s notes about the setting and the environment and the researcher s impressions. The set of productions was considered in the light of winnicottian perspective on parental care, resulting in two fields of affective-emotional senses: A deep well, representing the impact of the child s diagnosis of autism, and its subfield Everything started to make sense, that aludes to the moment when the parents begin to understand what seemed meaningless; Whom to turn to?, field that express the vicissitudes of the parental search for professional assistance, and its subfield (Re)Planning the future, when the family reorganizes its expectations and its dynamics, with profissional help to accept the child s condition and developmental possibilities. It discusses the need to provide emotional care to these parents, rescuing them from the agony of falling into a deep well, and the proposal of an adaptative clinical support for an experience that can only be experienced if shared.

Full textThe bonding experience between the primary carer (Mother) and the baby, at the start of the post-natal life, forms the context of neurogenesis, according to studies carried out by Developmental Neuroscience; and is also the basis of emotional development, according to the theory of psychoanalyst Donald W. Winnicott. The objective of this study is to investigate the technical constructions of authors who study different aspects of the same reality: the implications of the bonding experience between the baby and the primary carer (mother), which take place in the initial stages of human development, in the process of the interrelation between psyche and soma, which is considered to be the basis for the emotional development the human being. These constructions belong to a line of research in developmental neuroscience, and another in psychoanalysis, represented by the theory of Donald W. Winnicott on the beginnings of development. Considering that this work is a theoretical-reflective study, a bibliographic review was carried out. The conclusions seek to support a knowledge that can further understanding of the factors which influence human development, at the start of the post-natal life, and which may be responsible for the appearance of psychopathologies in future stages of the vital cycle. They also emphasize the need for the development of strategies of early intervention in the relationship between mother and baby, in infant care programs, reinforcing the importance of preventative psychology in the protection of human development.

Abstract: This work discusses the concept of fear in D.W. Winnicott in its multiple faces assuming that different meanings of the concept are associated, in etiologic sphere, to emotional maturational process. The bibliographical review of the author followed the term fear and its associated concepts such as phobia, anxiety, panic, night terror, unthinkable agony, nightmare, etc. The research script is divided into two moments: the presentation of the concept of fear in context of the oppsoition health-sickness and normal-pathology, and in the maturational process temporality. On the first moment, fear is seen as an affective defensive phenomenon that enables the person to face the world and communicate his/her emotional condition. Therefore it may be considered as diagnostic material. Thus, fear is not taken as a psychopathological prejudice, but as a tool that allow us to understand the existential condition of the human being as such. It is an universal phenomenon whose affection or non-affection, regarding its different contexts, grades and levels of intensity, reveals the normal or pathological condition of the person. On the second monent, the tipology of fear has its origins in the stages of emotional maturational process which comprehends interpersonal relations between mother and son in the absolute dependency, relative dependency and in triangular formation during relative indenpendency. Such types of fear are then configurated as fear related to psychological survival and identity, fear of separation from the mother, fear related to love-hate ambivalence and the edipic complex. The research on fear, such as this one, has its origins in the clinical observation of patient suffering, and shall be oriented towards it, where it shall find its deeper justification

The present research aims to analyse the therapeutic management in psychoanalytic clinics of winnicottian orientation. For this purpose, we have built a theoretical repertoire and have interviewed psychotherapists. We have used the works of Winnicott, as well as other authors who deal with his theory, to present a general overview. As regards the methodology of work, we made use of semi-directive interviews and contacted four professionals who knowingly have great knowledge about this theory. Analysis of data consisted of a psychoanalytic reading based on the interviews and on the theoretical repertoire presented previously. The use of interpretation, transitional interpretation and management were addressed in its nuances and different forms of use as therapeutic resources. We found that the management stands, more than a theoric and technical conception, as a particular conception of clinic.

Full textBreast cancer is one of the most feared diseases by women, because it affects not only the body anatomy but also the psychosocial aspects of the patient. At present, it is considered a chronic illness. There are a large number of people living with cancer, either in treatment, either in remission or in symptoms control. This scenario requires from Psychology a more efficient and specific approach, more interested in understanding what leads patients to greater difficulties on the different stages of treatment. Given the lack of a specific theory for Psycho-Oncology, the analysis of this research uses the theoretical proposal of Donald Woods Winnicott to assist in the understanding and interpretation of reports of women living with cancer. This research intends to investigate the psychological repercussions of patients in first remission of breast cancer. The interest behind this study arises from the practice as psychologist in the Mastology specialty. Several patients are sent to the Psychology clinic, with psychological impacts that endure beyond the presence of the disease. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study, with mixed methods approach. The sample consists of eight patients undergoing cancer treatment in Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericórdia of São Paulo. The procedure for data collection consisted of the application of a socio-demographic form and the conduction of a semi-directed interview, following the Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HAD) Scale and the Beck Hopelessness Scale (BDS). This paper concludes that the end of a treatment period does not coincide with the end of the concerns with the disease. And, despite the relevance of Psycho-Oncology for the well-being of cancer patients, this research considers necessary a theoretical foundation that contextualizes the individual and promotes the understanding of her entirety, in addition to the expected consequences of the oncologic illness. It is noted the importance of a psychological assessment to understand how this patient experiences breast cancer, based on her past experience. This study aims to advance Psycho-Oncology themes and provide valuable input to Health professionals who treat patients with breast cancer

Full textA child, for a healthy emotional development, needs a welcoming environment, named by Winnicott as a good enough environment, which can take care of the childs basic necessities without invading him in his process. It can be though that a maltreated child has experienced moments of invasion in his integration process that could prejudice his ulterior development and a psychotherapy would have a great importance as a possibility of traumatic experiences elaboration and of a holding for his growth. Taking this view in to consideration, the present work has aimed a dialogue between theory and practical work based in a Winnicotts perspective of the emotional development. The practical work comes from a psychotherapeutic process of a child who has suffered physical abuse perpetrated by his mother and was living in an institution for maltreated children. The total of 106 sessions occurred in the institution where the child used to live, in a frequency of three sessions per week, from November of 2001 to February of 2003. It was possible to notice that, through the play therapy, the child could develop himself emotionally, elaborate traumatic experiences and experiment a supporting and non-intrusive environment. It was possible to work psychological aspects related to his identity, home and family. The play therapy continues until the present moment through the insertion of a new therapist.

Full textThe aim of this paper is investigating the psychopathological foundations demanded by Winnicottian psychoanalysis, conceived as care for the going-on-being. It is justified for approaching the core issue of the articulation between theory and clinical practice, according to the perception of important experts concerning the incompatibility between the clinical being-and-doing - arisen from holding and setting management - and the adoption of impulsional models - which analyze the psyche according to physicalist parameters. In methodological terms, a theoreticalreflective study was conducted based on three essays. The first one consists of the introduction of the outlines that distinguish the Winnicottian clinic as the care for the going-on-being, focusing on the treatment aims, intervention modes and their mutual relationship. This introduction, which adopts a theoretical and conceptual discursive quality, is then recaptured along the text by means of clinical experience narratives. These narratives favor the establishment of a close and real contact with the clinical and experimental ground in which this study is rooted. The other two essays consist of the introduction of the impulsional-structural and relationalstructural theoretical models, which are studied in order to help us detect the power sources which ground their organization. Such constructed picture allows to the conclusion that a relational psychopathological theorization is not only possible, but actually vital, because it is the only way to avoid organicist and physicalist reductionisms.

Full textThis study which is of empirical and qualitative connotation starts on the principle that, besides the existing legislation regarding school inclusion of the mental handicapped students, their exclusion from day-to-day relations still occurs. The objective of this work is to comprehend how the activity proposed by Occupational Therapy can interfere and modify the established relations regarding the mental handicapped student in the school environment. Through the report of Occupational Therapy Trainees on an intervention experiment during break time in an elementary public school in São Paulo city, I look forward to verifying how the proposed activity, the ludic one, provokes gathering possibilities between the special class students and the others, proposing changes in the school inclusion process of the mental handicapped students. Using Winnicott's theory I propose a determined look at the school environment and at the activity as how to make creative individual. The qualitative analysis of the intervention made points out to the difficulties which the school environment shows as when it establishes day-to-day relations of quality with the mental handicapped student. Covered up by prejudism and lack of information, the relations developed in the school environment reinforce the unsuccessful and school failure cristalized role to the mental handicapped student unabling him (her) to remean his (her) action as a creative and healthy individual, perpetuating a relation pattern that blocks up the process of a real school inclusion.

Full textIn Psychoanalysis, regression has multiples aspects. One of these aspects is showed by the metapsychological explanation of the dreams formation. Another aspect is presented on the description of primitive traits such as sexual aims, object-relations, and ways of being of some patients in analysis. Regarding the primitive dimension of human psychism, regression was the theme of controversies between Freud and Ferenczi, who believed in the therapeutic potential of regression. The heterogeneous regression feature figure a strategic position in the study of articulations between psychoanalytical theory and clinic. The goal of this work is to examine the regression multiple meanings, based on authors who focused on this theme: Sandor Ferenczi, Michel Balint and Donald Winnicott. It consists in a study of these three authors texts. Aiming to grasp the meaning of regression in Ferenczi, we examined his experimentation process in clinical technique and his ideas about human psychosexual development. We find regression as a central position in his theory that provides a nonlinear direction in his human development view. In his clinic practice, the regression is understood as a way to settle down traumas that reside in the root of psychic perturbations. The meanings of regression in Michel Balint indicate not only its therapeutic potential as a possibility of the new beginning, but also the impasses implied in regression that occurs in the analytic setting. As a result, he draws two forms of regression: benign and malign. Looking for understanding these two forms of regression pointed by Balint, we examined his ideas about the diverse forms of sexuality in childhood and in the adult life. We also considered his conception of psychism origin that he name as primary love in opposition to the narcissism. The basic fault appears as a description of object relation primary structures that need to be experienced by some patient in the analytic relation. In Winnicott, we describe a clinical case which has regression as the core process. We studied the meaning of this concept to Winnicott, figuring out the notion of regression to dependence. We looked carefully at his ideas about primitive emotional development resulting in the conception of the third area of experimentation. This area belongs to both internal and external individual reality, where playing is possible. In the end of this study, we make some articulations between the elements picked in each author, finding out some similarities and differences between them. Despite of some differences between them, there is a common clinic stile which faces regression as a possible way to origins. This road might be walked, figured out or even constituted in the analysis process as a pathway of treatment. This path includes the environment as a constituent of phychism, especially in its origin.

Three images that often appear in Clarice Lispectors work were elected as central to the investigations which here were designated as healing: the world, the core and the hand. Full textThis essay is aimed at investigating the psychic development of twins institutionalized since before one year of age. Parted at birth, one child is sent to a hospital where it stays for eight months before is sent to an institution. The child undergoes the absence of the early motherly contact. As for the other child, there is the early motherly contact and from the family, however, discontinued. At ten months of age, the child is then sent to the institution. The study is set up when the twins are five years old, and are still inmates at the same institution, and are on the verge of being adopted. This research is qualitative - a case study grounded on the psychoanalytic method - according to D.W. Winnicotts lights. By using comprehensive and intervening psychological diagnosis, as well as projective techniques such as Hour Game and the Drawing-stories procedure, it aims at understanding the intra-psychic life of the twins. Additional tools such as the documented study of the family history, along with the interviews carried out at the shelter, contribute to a thorough view of the cases. As data analysis is performed, expressive differences in the functioning psychic of the twins come to light: on the one hand, the child sent to the institution only just after birth shows more interaction with the environment, when confronted with emerging depressive anguish shows regressive behaviour. Also, the child makes it easy for the implementation of interventions. On the other hand, the child parted from its home at ten months of age reacts otherwise. This, when confronted by desperate anguish, utilises defence mechanisms such as negation and avoidance, whose interventions are, in most cases, avoided in order to maintain the ongoing defensive system. When it comes down to the defence system, of the two twins, the first shows regressive behaviour and fragility as it faces the environment and dissociation in regressive and evolved movements. The second twin shows aggressive behaviour and opposition to limits and regulations as means of controlling the environment followed by aggression and violence in the relationships leading into difficulty in interacting and isolation from the environment. In addition to the clinical aspects, the influence of the psychopathological institutional aspects might also be pondered, such as the split-off the twins. The research, too, permits visualising what damages to the development come from oppressive homes and not only from institutional contexts, and that the adopting process should be thought over, and restructured in order to soothe the state of anxiety, as is observed in the twins during adoption, or the sending back to shelter of the second child, after its adoption. Thus, we conclude that even children under shelter can show healthy aspects, in that the children will benefit from the good experiences of the environment, and be able to love and hold affective relations. For this reason, the institutional context should be given assistance, principally psychological assistance, and then offers the children under shelter an appropriate environment which favours their development.

The game is set in one of the oldest human activities. It was full of meanings embedded in language, art, religion, and culture in general. His scholars extend the Philosophy (WITTGEINSTEIN, 1958; HUIZINGA, 1991; SCHILLER, 1995), History (ARIÈS, 1978; CAILLOIS, 1958), Communication Theory (POSTMAN, 1994), Antropology (GEERTZ, 1989; MALINOWSKI, 1978) and inevitably for Education and Psychology. Although we refer frequently to other sciences, our work is part of a psychological tradition. We seek theories of the Russian psychologist Lev Vygotsky (1896-1934) and the English psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott (1896-1971) an alternative to the understanding of children's play and its significance in the production of subjectivity. We start from the presentation of the authors and their intellectual biographies, detailing their conceptions of individual, subject and the environment (social, environmental and cultural), then to conceptually explore areas of meaning between their theories. Following toward a methodological discussion, we discuss the Qualitative Epistemology developed by Gonzalez-Rey, creating zones of meaning between the concepts of environment and children's game. Given the early death of Vygotsky and the consequent disruption of their research into the game, we turn to the theories of his students and collaborators - mostly Leontiev and Elkonin – with the principles ontogenetic children's game, a complementary explanation to Vygotsky’s theory. We argue that a theory of children's play should seek origins in more primitive social relations of the individual as well as the earlier use of objects that he makes. Such relationships have been widely detailed by Winnicott in his theory of phenomena and transitional objects, and we believe may be relevant to understanding the game played in children, as it was developed by Eldkonin and Vygotsky

Full textConsidering that eating disorders are pathologies whose incidence is growing in contemporary society and that they may lead to death or physical and emotional disability, this work aims to understand the suffering of patients with eating disorders, in order to enable theoretical considerations which shed light on the clinical practices in this context. It is qualitative research with psychoanalytic orientation, whose Winnicottian approach is based on the assumption that the eating disorders constitute a defensive organization of double function, one that reports on a feeble psychosomatic integration while another attests to the hope that the integration process might be resumed. As participants of this study, four adult volunteer patients were invited amidst those who seek the services of a school clinic of a university in the state of S?o Paulo, Brazil. As research procedures, initial interviews were carried out, inspired by Winnicott s therapeutic consultations, aiming to establish a psychoanalytical diagnosis and a therapeutic orientation for each patient, a framework that is already part of the care protocol at the institution where this research was developed, and also psychotherapy sessions with the participants. The interviews and the sessions were registered soon after each encounter with the participants, in the form of narratives, which were examined in the light of Winnicott s psychoanalysis. The clinical material indicates experiences which could not be lived, in a field of unthinkable anxieties, triggering defense mechanisms that threaten the psychosomatic integration of the individual at the same time in which they seek to reestablish that lost integration. The suffering of the patient s family needs to be addressed, and that is most important to the patient s treament because the family will then become supportive of the treatment. Furthermore, the role of the thin culture in that kind of suffering is emphasized. During the encounters with the participants of this study, one was also able to attest that a therapeutic relation aligned with the emotional needs of the patient with eating disorders is a necessary condition to deal with extreme experiences that are characterized either by excesses or by privation without ever reaching a point of balance or rest.

Full textIn this work, I shall make a narrative of my clinical investigations, which trajectory started on the neo-reichian based psychotherapy and arrived at the winnicottian analysis of the self, with the purpose of to discuss the necessary clinical dispositive to work with the contemporary subjectivities. I shall say in which way initially the neo-reichian theory and technique were efficient to illuminate the clinical practice. I shall line-up that, nevertheless, as time passed, such approach began to fail when confronted to the contemporary clinical problems. I shall quote theoretical, clinical and epistemological elements that signalize the caducity of the neo-reichian perspective related to the clinical practice. I shall detach significant aspects of the winnicottian theory and technique that started to illuminate the clinic, as his conception of human kind, his anthropology and epistemology, the paradigmatic change operated by his theory, when he says the subject can only be constituted in the presence of another human being, his idea of the body which is only made possible through the maternal caring, his comprehension of the pathology as a break in the line of the existence (Winnicott, 1986, p. 22), provoked by an intrusive and/or abandoning environment, which takes to a role in the I, to what Safra (2004 and 2005) denominates as an ethical fracture, to what I (Cotta, 2003) name as a homeless body, homeless soul, and as an unborn-self (Cotta, 2006). I shall illustrate my hypothesis with the reproduction of clinical vignettes

Full textWhat does a woman wantwhen pregnant? For such a classic question, an answer of the same nature: the health of the baby. In this research, the representation of the foetus body was the reference for examination of the regressive mechanisms found in the speech of 3 women in their last weeks of pregnancy. A half-guided interview was carried through with each one of them and the speech was analyzed in the light of the theoretical basis established in the works of Freud and Winnicott. During the gestation, as it happens during the sleep state, part of the psychic excitements has the course directed to a regressive way. Changeable concept, with multiple origins and a variety of destinations, Freud, since the Interpretation of the Dreams, had considered the regression as follows: topical, temporal, formal; libido of the ego versus libidinal; to the primary narcissism and the desires hallucination; to first objects versus the whole sexual organization and the regression of Ego. For Winnicott the mechanism is related to the regression of self to fusional states. Regarding the pregnancy, the works of Raquel Soifer and Marie Langer propitiated a psychoanalytical approach of the gestational experience in its fantasmatic, regressive and structuring aspects and the book Psychosomatic Obstetrics extended the field under the medical perspective. In the Psychoanalysis, guided for Bleichmar, Schneider, Simanke and Gurfinkel studies, aspects of the Winnicott and Freud works had gained greater detailing and originality. In those readings, the focus in the representation of the foetus body pointed towards the gestational fantasies, which, in turn, sent to emerging desires of the Edipian elaboration and the horror of the incest. A special psychic functioning must operate so that primitive desires can be evoked. In that special configuration, the discursive characteristic described by Schneider as cathartic speech, link its intensity to the need of one to try with, existing in the desire to see the baby: to see, to see herself, to see it, to be seen, to see and not to see, to see nothing, to see us. Universal necessity, it seems making reference to the gradual reduction of the boundaries between fantasy and reality. Thus, the concern with the health, that capture the attention of a woman, appears when the imagination, overloaded of images and affections, gives up. Between the ideal and the invisible Real, it remains the health, this full hiatus of dreams and fears, where is under tension, desire and mystery. Between exuberant conflicts that had involved the representation of the foetus body, the regression, source of disorganization of the Ego, presented itself as the source of transformation. When the psychms return to its bases, a moment of deep creation is reborn. When claiming the regression as the origin of the figurability, Freud presents its creative and constructive aspect; while in Winnicott the creativity lay down in the possibility of return to the state of primary not-integration, according to Gurfinkel, precursor of the Inform Concept.

Full textThis research has as its objective to understand the conditions that facilitate the process of acquisition and development of the ability to read by means of the relationships that are established between students, teachers, coordinator, director and parents. And to reflect on how the performed actions interfered or interfere in the attitudes of the development of this ability, having as basis the Winnicott contributions. The reading theme gains visibility as a cultural phenomenon, questioning the type of provider environment such that the reading comes to be. Provider environment is the one that surrounds, nourishes and takes care of the human being under development mother, family, school, society, worldP The field of investigation was the public school, having the focus on inter-human relationship that allowed the students from the fifth to the eighth series/grades to express what they thought about reading, through the means of an intermediary object questionnaire. The human being may have reading as ability, being its user and creator and may find in it a path to place his human condition in coming to be. To be and not to be a reader, a paradox sustained to promote readings of life, from the metaphorical to those of a specific alphabetical code, giving the individual the conditions for personal enrichment and of traveling through the potential space, whilst at the same time enabling him to participate of and in culture as an active reader. Not being a reader hinders the access to the cultural estate left by humanity and to the human condition of making use of reading as a creative being, social, free and a citizen

Full textThis research focuses on the production of the Austro-Hungarian psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich (1897-1957) with respect to the early childhood care. Primarily, it intends to help to deepen the knowledge of, and discussion on, Reichs ideas in the academic research universe. With this purpose, we conducted a work of articulation (proximities and distances) between Reichs formulations and those of the English psychoanalyst Donald Woods Winnicott (1896-1971), considering that Winnicott intensively studied the early childhood care. Initially, we conducted a bibliographic survey to identify investigations in any manner intending to establish a parallel between Reichs and Winnicotts ideas. Based on the material found and the study of Reichs and Winnicotts approaches, we elected four axes of analysis: a) human potential; b) the environment: persons responsible, functions and conditions; c) the conception of health and the singular knowledge, and d) possible effects of failures in the early childhood care. In the results, some lines of convergence between Reichs and Winnicotts ideas were suggested. In this regard, we point out a possible proximity between the notions of substitute contact (Reich) and fake self (Winnicott). On the other hand, distances were also found. For instance, Winnicott attempted to trace back the paths by which, based on such early caregiving failures, a certain psychopathology might be generated. Reich, instead, addressed the matter through a more general approach, always stressing the general harms resulting from early caregiving failures

Full textConsidering that the construction of knowledge in Clinical Psychology requires from the beginning the integration of an investigative posture with the possibility of being present before the other, I made use of the winnicottian concept of Primary Maternal Preoccupation like a lighthouse that guides the psychologist in her approach to the womans emotional experiences during pregnancy and postpartum. During the researcher task I encountered therapeutic alternatives. Hypothesis and working modalities came out from the data: interviews, letters, phone calls and home visits. The field of maternity presented itself extremely fertile, requiring though some basic tools in order to be fecundated, such as: flexibility to meet needs, holding all sorts of agonies, humility before of our own ignorance, true preoccupation with the patient and respect for her being.

The present work is a study of Winnicott’s writings on environment in the clinic of psychosis, as to contribute to the Group of Early Intervention in the First Crises of the Psychotic Type. Our thesis is that management of psychotic crisis includes caring for the environment, which is composed of the patient’s family, small social unit and the management service itself, with the therapists working on the case. Winnicott suggests that characteristics of the care provided by the environment become inner psychic attributes of the individual, such as the capacity to concern and to care for oneself and for others. For the author, psychosis is a defensive organization against trauma in the stage of absolute dependence, that is, an environmental intrusion that interrupts the continuity of the individual’s being and threats him of annihilation. An early failure in care “freezes” the individual’s maturation insofar as it impedes or hinders experiences that would lead to the development of psychical capacities such as integration and the capacity to concern. The individual reacts to trauma constituting primitive defenses, and the crisis is related to the insufficiency of these defenses, which precipitates a collapse and the necessity of regression to the maximum dependency. Management of psychotic crisis is the organization of a holding environment for dependency, facilitating, this time, the continuity of innate tendencies towards the recognition of self and of others as whole, separated though related persons. Holding the dependency of the individual in psychotic crisis confronts the therapist with primitive modes of relation, dominated by the subjective reality of the patient and his unconcerned destructiveness, where full consideration for the total person of the other is not yet a characteristic. Because it is inherently exhaustive, management has the task of caring for the environment, assuming responsibilities, surviving the crisis, and experiencing what was mostly subjective reality in an intermediate, transitional area, through a path that renders possible a shared reality and a being with others in care.

Full textOur interest on this topic resulted from our experience with adoption cases seen at Grupo Acesso Adoption Studies, Research and Intervention, at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute. This group gives support to children who have been abruptly withdrawn from social care to be inserted into an adoptive family, without being prepared for this change. We believe the exposure of such children to a delicate situation of psychological neglect should be further analyzed. This study analyses the adoption of children with ages ranging from two to five years, focusing particularly on the moment when the child leaves social care to become a member of the adoptive family. We will investigate the type of distress that occurs at this moment where significant bonds will be disrupted and the construction of new emotional investment will be required. Psychoanalytical methodology will be used to analyze the psychotherapeutical follow-up reports of a child who was brought for support during the adoption process. Our work was based on psychoanalytical references which were also used as theoretical background to understand the patient. We intend to demonstrate that an adopted child may experience significant disruption as a result of the discontinuation of previous affectional bonds, and that psychological preparation for this loss should be provided during the adoption process, as it may interfere with the development of new family ties. Furthermore, we investigate the role played by therapeutic support as a setting that enables transicional phenomena on the way to becoming a member of an adoptive family

The presente research aimed to design a clipping of the Winnicottian contribution to the analytical use of the dream, along the initial stages of emotional development prior to the repressed unconscious. As specific objectives, it was studied: a) the dream as an experience of integration, constitution and communication of the individual with himself and with the other; b) the provision of this experience within the context of the analytical setting; and c) the analytical use of the dream inscribed in the process of maturation. In the methodology, it was used: 1) the bibliographical research to: a) contextualize the Winnicottian contribution on the analytical use of the dream in the psychoanalytic literature; b) revisit the Winnicottian theoretical foundation; and c) to select Winnicottian texts whose clinical accounts illustrate the use of the dream and allow a recognition of subsidies to the analytical clinic; 2) research-listening and research-investigative in the clinical fragments of a psychoanalytic case, with which reflected on the analytical use of the dream with the borderline patient. The project was based on the Winnicottian theoretical / clinical conception to support the proposal that, in the initial phases of maturation process, the dream and the experiences of to play have their roots in the imaginative elaboration of body functioning and are fundamentally in the integration and in story of the self and, besides the cultural experiences, open a space of intertwining and enrichment of the human being's life

Full textOutlines a pedagogical experience, within a psychological approach, that took place in workshops, which developed activities intending to offer tools to story writing with the aim of promoting a building of knowledge concerning writing in general , exploring mainly the world of folk magic tales. Six children aging from 9 to 11 attended to 25 workshops over two years. They took part in activities such as body movements, consulting books, listening to stories narrated and from books, practicing creative writing techniques, making handicraft etc. Analises the process mainly refering to two outline themes: writing performance and interest. Concerning to the first, observes that all the children showed a good development in writing stories. Concerning to the latter, presents data that indicate that interest in reading and writing in general increased and, in relation to the proposed activities, it was high most part of the time, having oscilated in some moments. Grounded in the theoretical referencies of Jean Piaget and Donald Winnicott, considers all the activities and evaluates their efficiency in captivating the interest, attention and the envolvement of the participants, indicating the successes and failures concerning the latter, criticises the methodology employed and indicates other possible solutions. Concludes that the interest is reduced when an activity relegates the active and significant doing of the children; inversely, the involvement is great with interactive works, in groups, and in activities in which the importance of play is considered.

The unconscious psychological fields are organizations that influence intersubjective practices, both individual and collective. Thus, the study of the collective imagination of psychologists in training is very important, as this can interfere with their therapeutic practices. The objective of this research is investigate the collective imagination of students of fourth and fifth years of Psychology at UNESP / Assis - they were acting on stage nuclei in psychoanalytic clinic in Winnicott's approach - regarding psychosomatic disorders. The research involved the participation of 8 students, by using the procedure of Drawing-Story with Theme. Instructions for the application was: Draw a person with psychosomatic disorder. This instrument was applied through a group interview for the collective imaginary approach, which provided the possibility of survey participants get in touch and share feelings about the topic covered. After using this tool, we analyze some psychological fields and subfields of the collective imagination that emerged from productions such as the field of Feelings and the subfield of Loneliness. These fields and subfields were the object of Winnicott's psychoanalytic analysis. From our analysis, we observed that students have a basic understanding of Winnicott's theory. However, regarding the psychosomatic, his views also demonstrated restrictions. Although this has been observed, the productions have shown the value of the topics brought by them as well as the importance of other works that address these issues

Full textIt is showed trhough in this movement, the search for extreme transformation in social dimensions coexists with some relative poverty to create new mechanisms of clinical feature, which allows us to point out an important limitation, that social importance recognition is not followed by enough consideration of subjectivity in sensitive and emotional terms. It is then formed a problematic situation that may be overcome by the proposition of differentiated clinical settings, as long as they are potentially facilitate a productive articulation between social, subjective and affective-emotional dimensions

Abstract: This work about the comprehension of a child which was apathetic in the classroom was done in a city in the state of São Paulo, at a public school in a neighborhood that is considered to be socially, extremely excluded. The so-called phenomenon "apathy", according to the teachers of the aforementioned school, frequently brings with it the difficulty of children to benefit from the school environment in a profitable manner. The study about apathy is based on reports of some teachers in relation to the attitudes of their students whom they were worried about as to: being disconnected with what was going on; scatter brained; forget quickly; not following up on class work and activities with homework or participation of any kind. The apathy is analyzed from observation and interaction with the child. The investigation is made with theories about emotional development, guided by the hypothesis that this condition can be one of the roots of the difficulties that extrapolates the cognitive development, embracing the emotional aspect. Therefore, the research is founded on psychoanalysis theories, in particular, the Winnicottian. It involved participating in meetings with the school teachers; observation in the classroom; interviews with the mother and meeting with the child at play time. After the interpretation of the empiric research material, the understanding about emotional dynamics that are present in the "apathy", which involve the fragility of the condition of the integration of the ego is presented. The integration tells about the establishment of personal sentiment and brings with it the idea of frontiers between the I and the not I and also the ability to create and to know externality. The integrations supplies the basis for which the individuals follow on the path to independence in relation to environment. Some emotional necessities of the child in the classroom and ideas about the possibility to propitiate the care describe by Winnicott as holding or a facilitating aspect of the environment to the processes of emotional maturity are presented.

Abstract: This study sets out to investigate the effects of providing "a moment for playing" in classrooms in a government-run school in the municipality of Campinas. The research included a group of 10 undergraduates holding trainee scholarships awarded by the Inter-institutional Program of Trainee Scholarships for Teaching Undergraduates' Pibid/Capes. In the space and time provided for playing, children in primary school education occupied an area designed to provide the environmental conditions envisioned by Winnicot as being favorable for emotional development, namely: holding, handling and presenting the object, all of which facilitate egoic integration. As far as possible the undergraduate trainees represented the "sufficiently good other" with their presence among the children during the "playing" and sought to register the dynamics of the children in their construction and development of play, with special attention paid to observing children that do not play as they are the ones that have the greatest difficulties in learning school study contents and/or in their relations with their peers. With the aim of gaining an understanding of their refusal or inhibition in regard to playing as well as detecting any changes in this domain over a period of time this research sought to: 1- contribute towards understanding children that find it difficult to relate to their peers in the classroom and to make use of the symbols that are constructed and used in it.; and 2- analyze this intervention's potential for transformation in regard to overcoming the difficulties such children face in the routine activities of the classroom. The methodology involved direct and indirect accompaniment of the "moments for playing" through direct observation and/or reviewing the trainees' weekly reports as well as observing classes and interviewing teachers. The trainees operated a one hour long "moment for playing" during class time, once a week with one trainee allocated to each class of children in school years one to five. The time allowed for play made it possible for teachers and trainees to dedicate special attention to children with learning and relational problems because those that do not have such problems play happily on their own or with other children. The moment for playing progressively became a potential space and, once it had been established, the teachers reported that the "moment for playing" was bringing about improvements in the relations children establish among one another and in the bonding between teacher and child, and that was something that enhanced the possibilitis of the child¿s reaping the benefits of the school environment in an enriching manner. This work will present seven cases that illustrate the process that culminated in the students in question achieving the psychic integration they needed to be able to make full use of potential spaces, that is. to enjoy the benefits and to contribute towards the construction of symbols and in that way establish creative communication with their external reality. Three of the cases illustrate the accompaniment of the child involved for a period of three and a half years. The fact that researchers and teachers sought to play with those children that did not play, witness to their experiences and signify their spontaneous gestures led to the gradual emergence, in them, of the creative impulse and the ability to play, something that contributed significantly to increasing the ability of such children to share and take part in the experiences the school institution has to offer

The aim of this study was to present the contributions of D. W. Winnicott on schizoid pathology, seeking to explain the place that this pathology occupies in the theoretical and clinical framework of the author and also the aspects related to etiology, dynamics and clinical management highlighted by the author. This is a theoretical research, where the results were based on a detailed reading of the author’s work and two of his clinical cases, diagnosed by him as schizoid. It had as a methodological basis the principle of hermeneutics, which considers the articulation of the whole with the parts, understanding the meaning as relative to the context, so that the whole is understood in relation to its parts and the parts in relation to the whole. As results, the author locates schizoidia in the field of psychoses, having its origin in the earliest period of life, before the individual has achieved a more consistent integration of the self. Schizoid individuals suffered abrupt, disastrous failures as a result of a chaotic environment, they still succeeded in forming, even in a very incipient way, a self. The consequence of environmental failures in schizoids, produces a near-permanent sensation that the world and everything relating to the external or shared reality is dangerous and pernicious. Therefore, their attitude is to always flee from the world, from contact, from relationships, living circumscribed to their subjective world, in order to protect their incipient self, against the unpredictability and invasion of the environment

The proposal of this paper is to think, using the Winnicott theory, on how a being constitutes itself subjectively human, singular and unique and what is the contribution of another human being, also singular and unique, in this process. Winnicott will emphasize and study, due to the needs imposed by his clinic, the great importance of the other in the beginning completely coinciding with the environment in the human development, as well as focalizing on the importance of the first relationships. According to him, the child is born with an inherited potential which will only become effective in a sufficiently good environment. The baby s potentials are modulated by the mother/environment; on discerning the baby s rhythm and its necessities, and by validating her gesture, the mother will permit the updating of this child s creative potential. It is necessary that the mother can understand, permit and support, on behalf of the child, the need of fusion as well as of separation. It is fundamental that the mother can propitiate the appearance of a space of potential, until the child is capable to become an individual. It is also essential that the mother can be used to supply the child s needs. If this be so, the child can accumulate a reserve of basic confidence and of normal narcissism; it will be able to separate itself from the mother and, in a confident way, love not only itself, but the mother and other people as well. The child will constitute its subjectivity, apart from this mother, moving towards relative dependency at the beginning of life, dependency is absolute - and towards the development of the capability to be concerned, dream and play, confronting, therefore, the Oedipus issues in a manner that enriches the personality, with the possibility of responsibility and contribution towards the environment

_________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
This theoretical-clinical reflexion discuss the contributions of Winnicott’s theory and the Rorschach Method of investigation in the theme of violence and people who commit violence. Starting from the conception of violence as a social construct phenomenon, the attempt of pathologize this phenomenon and assigning it to specific subjects is observed. Lokking for complexifying the analysis of social, historical, economic and politic contexts where the pathologization of violence is done, was included a psychoanalytic theory where is possible be based to reflect about the most personal side of violence. Winnicott contributes with their psychoanalytic proposals for the emotional development and for the antisocial tendency. In forensic work, Psychology, Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis are called to complement juridical decisions about these subjects adjudged antisocial. In this situation, psychological assessments are a privileged ways to reach the subjectivity. The Rorschach Method has been included in this discution as an assessment possibility, which allows an approach to psychological traits without a priori diagnosis and contextualizing the subject within the particularities of his own personal history, particularly through the Coping Deficit Index. The main aim of this work is discuss social and relational features of violence phenomenon, regarding psychic particularities of who commit violence and locating him an environment that change him and is changed by him. Thus, we seek to deepen the concepts and practices in violence theme and rise new possibilities of psychotherapeutic, social and juridical attendance for these people.

This study aims to investigate the playing of a child with autistic features found in Winnicott's psychoanalytical clinic, in order to explore the modalities of playing in relation to the maturational stages of the child's emotional development and the formation of potential space. It presents a theoretical study to examine, in the writings of Winnicott, psychic development, the characteristics of the maturational stages and the consequences for development when there is failure in the environment, such as autism. It also seeks to understand within this maturation the importance of playing for the psychic constitution. It takes into account the playing, which can both assist in the development, to become a self experience, and signal when something is not going well, demonstrated by an anguished or autistic form of playing . This work is justified by the existing limitations in the literature on this topic and was inspired by how a so called autistic patient built new forms of playing during the sessions. With the advance of psychotherapy, the child presented a thaw in his psychic development and imaginative playing. This evolution is demonstrated by the case study, in which clinical care mobilized the issue and the direction was given by the theory in a second moment. For the explanation of this case study, we adopted clinical vignettes. In this study we realized the maturation of the playing characterized by absolute dependence to the relative dependence playing. And in the process, after treatment, the playing took steps towards a stage of independence. Autistic playing presents itself as an autistic object, it is a subjective playing related to primitive defenses against unimaginable anguish. It is directed to sensuousness, mechanicity, concreteness and / or brooding about the self, aspects that make it impoverished and without symbolic meaning. Thus, not transitional and not expansive. This highlights the importance of the psychotherapist's work, which is to create a holding environment, conducive to the maturation of the playing and the formation of potential p c , b bl d p h ch ld’ pl y h l d ch l stage. Thus, it is possible to receive symptomatic playing, witness it and create a suitable environment so the child can turn it into a creative and free playing.
