Abstract:
The modeling of complex risk situations imposes the existence of multiple ways to represent the risk and compare the risk situations between them. In probabilistic models, risk is described by random variables and risk situations are compared by stochastic dominance. In possibilistic or credibilistic models, risk is represented by fuzzy variables. This paper concerns three indicators of dominance associated with fuzzy variables. This allows the definition of three notions of fuzzy dominance: dominance in possibility, dominance in necessity and dominance in credibility. These three types of dominance are possibilistic and credibilistic versions of stochastic dominance. Each type offers a modality of ranking risk situations modeled by fuzzy variables. In the paper some properties of the three indicators of dominance are proved and relations between the three types of fuzzy dominance are established. For triangular fuzzy numbers formulas for the computation of these indicators are obtained. The paper also contains a contribution on a theory of risk aversion in the context of credibility theory. Using the credibilistic expected utility a notion of risk premium is defined as a measure of risk aversion of an agent in front of a risk situation described by a fuzzy variable and an approximate calculation formula of this indicator is proved.

Abstract:
The ranking of multi-metric scientific achievements is a challenging task. For example, the scientific ranking of researchers utilizes two major types of indicators; namely, number of publications and citations. In fact, they focus on how to select proper indicators, considering only one indicator or combination of them. The majority of ranking methods combine several indicators, but these methods are faced with a challenging concern—the assignment of suitable/optimal weights to the targeted indicators. Pareto optimality is defined as a measure of efficiency in the multi-objective optimization which seeks the optimal solutions by considering multiple criteria/objectives simultaneously. The performance of the basic Pareto dominance depth ranking strategy decreases by increasing the number of criteria (generally speaking, when it is more than three criteria). In this paper, a new, modified Pareto dominance depth ranking strategy is proposed which uses some dominance metrics obtained from the basic Pareto dominance depth ranking and some sorted statistical metrics to rank the scientific achievements. It attempts to find the clusters of compared data by using all of indicators simultaneously. Furthermore, we apply the proposed method to address the multi-source ranking resolution problem which is very common these days; for example, there are several world-wide institutions which rank the world’s universities every year, but their rankings are not consistent. As our case studies, the proposed method was used to rank several scientific datasets (i.e., researchers, universities, and countries) for proof of concept.

Abstract:
The literature suggests that schizophrenics exhibit reduced or reversed cerebral lateral dominance relative to normal control subjects. An hypothesis which predicted reduced or reversed cerebral laterality for schizophrenics was tested on 60 young, familially right-handed males, with 20 men in each of the following three groups: schizophrenic inpatients, nonschizophrenic psychiatric inpatient controls, and normal controls. The subjects were administered a battery of seven measures of cerebral laterality. The application of multivariate statistical techniques showed groups did not differ significantly in the degree or the direction of their cerebral lateral dominance. Also there were no significant correlations between the measures of laterality. The findings suggest that cerebral lateral dominance is not necessarily altered concomitantly with psychopathology but rather that it is a complex phenomenon which may not be reliably determined on the basis of simple behavioral characteristics.

Abstract:
Dominance is referred to the level of influence that a person has in a conversation. Dominance is an important research area in social psychology, but the problem of its automatic estimation is a very recent topic in the contexts of social and wearable computing. In this paper, we focus on the dominance detection of visual cues. We estimate the correlation among observers by categorizing the dominant people in a set of face-to-face conversations. Different dominance indicators from gestural communication are defined, manually annotated, and compared to the observers’ opinion. Moreover, these indicators are automatically extracted from video sequences and learnt by using binary classifiers. Results from the three analyses showed a high correlation and allows the categorization of dominant people in public discussion video sequences.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper presents five tests based on behavioural and other animal-centred observations concerning dairy goat welfare. An emotional reactivity test (n = 40) classified the animals into different groups according to their behaviour in response to fear-eliciting stimuli, and identified anxious animals. Movement parameters and behaviour, as well as quantitative (number of cries) and qualitative (pitch, intensity, length) sound parameters were recorded. A dominance test (n = 35) based on antagonistic reactions resulted in three hierarchical groups (subordinate, n = 9; intermediate, n = 6; and dominant, n = 20). A test performed in the milking parlour (n = 108) showed that the order of passage was strongly preserved and linked to limb pathology and dominance index. Finally, a lameness test (12.5% were lame) and a standing up test (8.5% had problems getting up) showed that these two parameters were highly correlated. After some simplifications, these tests could form a goat welfare evaluation method.

Abstract:
The results of research of high-speed, speed-strength abilities and special anaerobic endurance in highly skilled male and female athletes are presented. It is established, that the indices of physical working capacity depend on the type of vegetative regulation of the heart rhythm. Athletes (male and women), who have the same level of skill with moderate dominance of central mechanisms vegetative regulation of a cordial rhythm, significantly higher speed-strength indicators. In particular, for men, with moderate dominance of central mechanisms vegetative regulation of a cordial rhythm (1 type), during the work in the anaerobic mode, gather higher speed, which on 4,1% is statistically higher in comparison with athletes with moderate domination of the autonomous mechanism of regulation of a cordial rhythm (3 type). At the same time, the time of achievement of frequency of rotation of pedals of a veloergometer, equal 70% of the maximum size, they on 3% (р0,05) less. The women, with the 1 type of a regulation of a cordial rhythm, indicators of absolute, average and relative power (р0,05) on 1,6; 2,6 and 8,9 higher. With an increase in the duration of anaerobic work, the indices of special endurance are statistically reliably higher in athletes with moderate dominance of the autonomous regulatory mechanism. For example, for men, the indicator of total work power on 4,2% higher, and indicators of maximum, average and relative power by 2,4;2,9 and 1,9%, respectively (p0,05). The women, with type III multiple scores, the rates were significantly higher by 3,2; 4,2;4,1; 3,6%, respectively (p0,05).

Abstract:
Development of tree species in Swiss forests – some methodological considerations Swiss forests have been subject to more stress in recent decades due to increased climatic and biogenic disturbances. Some tree species, such as Norway spruce, have been more severely affected than others. How the tree species composition of the Swiss forest has changed during this time has been assessed with data from the Swiss National Forest Inventory (NFI). The four indicators, presence, dominance, number of stems and basal area, were examined to see: whether the changes in the most important tree species are significant; whether the indicators have developed in the same way in the two diameter classes, D1 (12–36 cm DBH) and D2 (> 36 cm DBH); and how different diameter thresholds (12 or 36 cm DBH) and different circular sample plot sizes (200 m2 or 500 m2) affect the development and significance of the indicators. All the values were estimated for the 5370 NFI forest plots that were accessible in all three inventories, NFI1 (1983–85), NFI2 (1993–95) and NFI3 (2004–06). Only in a minority of tree species did changes in the presence, dominance, number of stems and basal area develop in the same way. Most indicators for the conifer species spruce, fir and pine decreased significantly, whereas for the broadleaf species, maple and ash, as well as larch and the other conifers, they increased significantly. The basal area increased during the period investigated for all tree species except pine and spruce. The different development of the indicators number of stems and basal area can be attributed to a different development within the DBH classes D1 and D2. The inventory diameter threshold strongly affects the development of the indicator number of stems, but not that of the indicator basal area.

Abstract:
Anomalous cerebral dominance can have multiple manifestations, e.g., left-eye preference or left-foot preference in the absence of left handedness per se. The 1987 estimate of prevalence of anomalous dominance in the population by Geschwind and Behan approaches 30%, three times the estimate obtained by using handedness alone as the sorting criterion. Accordingly, substantial numbers of subjects assigned to “dextral” groups may actually display other legitimate indicators of anomalous dominance. As such there is a tendency to commit Type II errors in studies in which handedness alone is used to represent the variance attributed to cerebral dominance. Accordingly, null hypotheses assessing the relations of cerebral dominance with dependent variables are accepted even though they may, in fact, be false.

Abstract:
A New Ecological Paradigm scale was used as a measurement tool to determine consumer perception of the environment through the context of red seabream (Pagrus major) aquaculture and the use of copper-alloy nets. To identify the underlying dimension of consumer perception, exploratory factor analysis was conducted, which showed that consumer perception comprised two dimensions—nature and balance, and human dominance—yielding two indicators as independent variables for a contingent valuation method estimation. The estimation results indicate that demographic variables and one consumer perception variable (i.e., the human dominance indicator) are insignificant. However, the economic variable, one consumer perception variable (i.e., nature and balance), and seafood preference are significant. Finally, willingness-to-pay was estimated for sustainable aquaculture products by comparing the mean willingness-to-pay within New Ecological Paradigm-level groups.

Abstract:
Ample scientific research has confirmed significant linguistic differences between truthful and deceptive discourse in both laboratory and field experiments. That literature is reviewed, followed by presentation of an experiment that tested the effects of veracity on a wide array of linguistic indicators and tested which effects were moderated by motivation and modality. A 2 (veracity: truthful/deceptive) × 2 (incentives: high/low) × 3 (modality: FtF/audio/text) factorial experiment revealed that linguistic indicators of quantity, immediacy, vividness/dominance, specificity, complexity, diversity, and hedging/uncertainty were all affected by veracity, and veracity interacted with motivation in the latter four cases. Only personalism and affect failed to differ between truth and deception. Modality also affected language use but did not interact with veracity. Four linguistic indicators together successfully classified 76% of text-based deception and 76% to 78% of truthful responses from text, audio, and face-to-face interaction. The importance of context in predicting linguistic patterns is emphasized.

Abstract:
Population and community indicators for the impact of fishing are often estimated using abundance estimates instead of raw sampling observations. Methods are presented for testing null hypotheses of nonsignificant impacts and, where possible, for calculating the statistical power. The indicators considered concern populations (intrinsic growth rate, total mortality, exploitation rate, and a new indicator, the change in fishing mortality required to reverse population growth) and communities (k- and partial-dominance curves, a biodiversity index, size spectrum, and proportions of various population groups). The performance of these indicators is compared for the Celtic Sea groundfish community based on achieved precision, statistical power, and availability and estimation method of reference points. Among population indicators, mean length of catch was most precisely estimated and the corresponding hypothesis tests had consistently large powers. Total mortality performed reasonably well. In contrast, both the intrinsic population growth rate and the exploitation rate gave unreliable results. All tested community indicators performed similarly well. Indicators for which the direction of change caused by fishing is predictable, such as the proportion of noncommercial species or piscivores in the community, are promising indicators at the community level.

Abstract:
The hypervolume indicator is one of the most used set-quality indicators for the assessment of stochastic multiobjective optimizers, as well as for selection in evolutionary multiobjective optimization algorithms. Its theoretical properties justify its wide acceptance, particularly the strict monotonicity with respect to set dominance, which is still unique of hypervolume-based indicators. This article discusses the computation of hypervolume-related problems, highlighting the relations between them, providing an overview of the paradigms and techniques used, a description of the main algorithms for each problem, and a rundown of the fastest algorithms regarding asymptotic complexity and runtime. By providing a complete overview of the computational problems associated to the hypervolume indicator, this article serves as the starting point for the development of new algorithms and supports users in the identification of the most appropriate implementations available for each problem.

Abstract:
Aim: to determine of peculiarities of personal cognitive styles in qualified badminton players. Material and methods. The studies were carried out using the hardware-software computer complex "Multipsychometer-05". The modified Stroop test was selected. The indicators of the test "Field dependence" were determined: field independence, left hemispheric dominance, functional asymmetry, and the effectiveness of the test. The obtained results of the study were analyzed for the entire sample of badminton players, as well as separately for men and women. Results. According to the results of scientific research on the field dependence of qualified badminton players, it was found that all athletes in our sample demonstrate a slight bias towards field dependence; dominated by right hemisphere dominance; in functional asymmetry and efficiency, qualified badminton players demonstrate an average level. The analysis of test indicators, taking into account gender dimorphism, showed that among men 72% demonstrate a predominance of right hemispheric dominance of varying degrees, 28% have left hemispheric dominance. As for women, 54% demonstrate a predominance of right hemispheric dominance of varying degrees, and 37% demonstrate left hemispheric dominance of varying degrees. Conclusions. Men show a tendency towards better test performance and have more pronounced functional asymmetry. The cognitive style of skilled badminton players determines the strategy of selection and processing of information, problem solving, learning and other types of cognitive activities. Because human cognitive-activity styles are genetically determined and demonstrate a pronounced stability of cognitive-stylistic characteristics in ontogenesis, they can be used as prognostic and diagnostic criteria.

The lichen flora of raised and transition-bogs in West Pomerania (N Poland) is poor and characterized by dominance of acidophilous epiphytes associated with pine bark, and of humus-loving lichens. Lichens are not good indicators of the degradation of transition and raised-bog phytocoenoses, mainly because it is difficult to properly determine their response - whether it is caused by natural or anthropogenic factors. U does not seem possible to create a lichenoindicative system for bogs, similar to that used in studies of the pollution of the atmospheric air. Lichens can successfully be used in analyses of changes in thc vegetation of isolated bogs; this should, however, be done at the most in addition to other procedures used to determine the degree of naturalness of plant communities.

Abstract:
This study outlines a linguistic profile of two subgroups of Italian English circumstantial bilinguals – one dominant in English and the other dominant in Italian – by exploring for the first time their linguistic repertoire through the Gradient Bilingual Dominance Scale (Dunn & Fox Tree, 2009). The scale takes into account language background/history, language use and phonological interference, three main clusters of indicators that make up their dominance. The analysis is further complemented by additional descriptors adapted from Marian, Blumenfeld and Kaushanskaya (2007) and Baker (2011). Over one hundred English dominants (EDs) and Italian dominants (IDs) of Italian descent living in Australia were administered a survey. Results indicate that the scores yielded by the scale broadly parallel the data on self-reported dominance. The contrastive analysis of single variables, however, reveals both discrepancies and similarities between the two groups. While both groups use and are exposed to both languages and self-report high proficiency in the four skills, EDs differ from IDs across indicators such as language attrition and phonological interference. These outcomes confirm that the examination of these subgroups of Italians through the components of their language dominance offers a concise analysis of their linguistic features that makes allowance for both the individual and the societal elements of their bilingualism.

Long-term studies (1998–2018) of shallow lakes Krugloe and Krutoe (Russia) were carried out. The trophic status of the lakes was estimated using physicochemical parameters of water and the indicators of zooplankton. Physicochemical studies of Krugloe and Krutoe lake water make it possible to classify these reservoirs as eutrophic according to their trophic status. The lakes are characterized by low water transparency, a high content of organic substances in water, the “blooming” of water is observed periodically, accompanied by the increase of pH to 8–9 units. The zooplankton communities of Krugloe and Krutoe lakes are characterized by relatively low species richness, the dominance of a small number of species, and the predominance of species that are indicators of eutrophic waters. Quantitative indicators of zooplankton are characterized by significant fluctuations in values over the years, the prevalence of rotifers. They showed that zooplankton community is a good indicator of the trophic state of lakes. Such indicators of zooplankton communities as the composition of dominant species, their number, the presence of indicator species, the quantitative indicators of zooplankton and individual taxonomic groups, and the average individual mass of the zooplankton can be used to characterize the trophic status of lakes. They can be recommended for use during monitoring of the lake condition in the Volga-Kama State Natural Biosphere Reserve.

Abstract:
The object of this research is the methods of multi-criteria selection. The subject of this research is the problems of application of hierarchical method of randomized composite indicators in solving the problems of multi-criteria selection. It is noted that in gradual synthesis of composite indicators of the highest hierarchical level, it is impossible to obtain the exact values or assessment of probabilities of dominance of the compared objects. Structuring the exhaustive set of values of weight vector of hierarchy allows obtaining these probabilities, but such approach is applicable only in case of small number of characteristics of the compared objects. For solving this task, the author employs Monte Carlo method, consisting in formation of random sample from exhaustive set of weigh vector of hierarchy and sequential assessment of essential characteristics. The article suggests the procedure for assessing probability characteristics of randomized composite indicators. The author develops and presents the software written on the R platform for realization of this procedure. An example of comparison of the investment projects, when selection is based on the probability of dominance, rather than the composite indicators, is demonstrated.

Feminists have been concerned about the debasement of women in sexually explicit material. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of domination and sexual inequality in x-rated videocassettes through a content analysis of 45 widely available x-rated videocassettes. The sample was randomly drawn from a list of 121 adult movie titles widely available in family videocassette rental stores in southern California. Over half of the explicitly sexual scenes were coded as predominantly concerned with domination or exploitation. Most of the domination and exploitation was directed by men toward women. Specific indicators of domination and sexual inequality, including physical violence, occurred frequently. The growth of the videocassette rental industry and the popularity of x-rated films, coupled with the messages these films convey, is a cause for concern.

Introduction: Previous studies confirm that there is no anthropometric index of normal Iranian hearts, including diameter of cardiac valve, thickness of myocardial septum and coronary artery variation. The purpose of this study was to assess the anatomical indexes of the human heart and coronary artery in the Iranian population. Methods: The study was performed with 207 adult human hearts in both sexes (182 male and 25 female), fixed in 10% formaldehyde. Myocardial thickness and diameter of heart valves were measured using a Vernier caliper. Assessments of the coronary artery were carried out after removal of the pericardium. Results: Analysis of 207 cadaver coronary arteries showed left coronary artery (LCA) dominance type was present in 6.3% of corpus, and balance was present in 4.3% of corpus, while the largest number (89.4%) had right coronary artery (RCA) dominance. The mean values of the morphometric data are as follows: right atrial wall thickness (2.08 +/- 0.04 mm), left atrial wall thickness (2.08 +/- 0.04 mm), interatrial wall thickness (4.92 +/- 0.08 mm), right ventricular wall thickness (3.35 +/- 0.05 mm), left ventricular wall thickness (8.36 +/- 0.13 mm), interventricular wall thickness (12.01 +/- 0.2 mm), diameter of the aorta (23.6 +/- 0.4 mm), diameter of the pulmonary artery (24.94 +/- 0.4 mm), large diameter of the mitral valve (34.16 +/- 0.27 mm), and large diameter of the tricuspid valve (38.8 +/- 0.24 mm). Conclusion: The anatomical knowledge of cardiac indicators and coronary artery data will be helpful and clinically relevant, especially for cardiac surgeons for coronary artery bypass grafting and coronary arteriography.

Firstly, several meas-ured indicators of landslide control (Total Project Investment U1, Construction Difficulty U2, etc.) are selected as key impacting indicators to appraise alternative schemes correctly. Moreover, the attribute values of inter-val information for each landslide scheme is defined, and then the Attribute Dominance Relation is proposed to solve the index weights as well as the problem of unknown attribute weight in landslide control schemes. Next, the attribute weight values are ranked and picked by the dominance index relationship between the de-cision schemes and overall schemes. Simultaneously, this paper analyzed the probability decision making problem of using attribute value as Interval Number. In this procedure, we introduced the detailed derivation and analyzed the same and different points between the proposed model with the Deviation Maximization Al-gorithm. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the model.

Abstract:
In the article, the authors refer to the history of the study of preventive statements, where the semantics of the notice and warning are not distinguished. The genre approach allowed the authors to qualify the warning and the notice as a diffuse zone in the system of speech genres, and the warning is considered as a poly-intentional speech genre and it is proposed to distinguish between two variants of the genre based on the identification of the leading intention. An imperative warning, synonymous with a notice, can function as an indirect threat, and an informative warning can be used as a speech genre of denunciation. The variability of the warning genre is manifested not only in the dominance of one of the intentions, but also in the ways of speech embodiment. The genre model and possible syntactic structures in which the warning is embodied are considered. It is noted that the complete semantic model of an utterance in the warning genre contains a modus component, which is a marker of the genre, and a dictum component, which reveals the content of the warning. The dominance of one intention causes differences in the linguistic embodiment, which are manifested in the frequency implicitness of the expression of the second intention, as well as in the choice of the modal indicator of the genre. The authors focused their attention on the modus marker of the genre, since the dictum component, which reveals the content of the warning, has repeatedly become the subject of study and is described in detail in different languages, and the mode marker of the genre most often remained outside the field of view of researchers. A wider range of modus indicators is noted for an informative warning, and the choice of a specific indicator is determined by discourse.

Abstract:
The vocal display of male animals during the breeding season has received particular attention. To find out whether male acoustic signals could be a quality-assessment cue of callers, we conducted a study on Père David’s deer (Elaphurus davidianus) characterised by a polygynous mating system and high male–male competition during the rutting season. We investigated the relationship between the stag’s acoustic properties and the dominance rank as an indication of quality. Results showed that (1) there were two types of calls, the common roar and the chasing bark, (2) there was no significant difference between the call duration of the common roar and the chasing bark among different dominance ranks, (3) in the common roar, the value of the fundamental frequency, formant frequencies and formant spacing decreased significantly with the rise of dominance ranks and (4) vocal intensity of the common roar differed significantly among the three dominance ranks such as the harem master, the challengers and the bachelors. Our results suggested that some acoustic features, such as formant frequencies, formant spacing and vocal intensity of the common roar were closely related to the dominance rank and could be effective indicators of male competitive ability.

Abstract:
Sediment disturbance in marine environments is caused by activities including polychaete bait harvesting, trawling, dredging, sediment erosion and treading. These activities affect the benthic communities by changing the densities, community assemblage and diversity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of nematodes as indicators of sediments disturbance following polychaete bait harvesting. The study was conducted in three sites experiencing different bait harvesting intensities in Mida Creek, Kenya. Sediment samples were collected from the mudflats during low tide, preserved in 5% formalin and transported to the laboratory for processing and identification of nematodes. The highly disturbed site recorded the lowest nematode genus richness while the less disturbed sites had the highest. Overall, the most abundant nematode genera in the non-disturbed (Dabaso) and less disturbed sites (Kirepwe) were selective deposit feeders (Spirinia and Terschellingia), while most disturbed sites (e.g. Mayonda) had predators/omnivores (Pheronus, Aporcelaimellus) and selected members of the genus Spirinia. The disturbed site was characterised by low nematode diversity (H’) and low dominance (D) while the non-disturbed and less disturbed sites had higher diversity and dominance. Clearly, nematode community assemblage, diversity and feeding guilds changed following disturbance to a low diversity that favoured higher proportions of predator/omnivore taxa.

Abstract:
Growth rates of young conifers can be poor on disturbed sites dominated by Kalmia angustifolia L. Hence, a conifer revegetation trial was established on a Kalmia -dominated site to evaluate the effects of various silvicultural options and planted species on selected soil organic layer characteristics. Larix laricina (Du Roi) K. Koch, Pinus banksiana Lamb., and Picea mariana (Mill.) BSP seedlings were planted in plots with or without Kalmia control with herbicides. The effect of fertilizer amendment was also assessed. Seventeen years postplanting, organic layer fertility indicators suggest that soil fertility improved after Kalmia control and conifer reestablishment, especially if nitrogen (N) – phosphorus – potassium fertilizer was also applied. When Kalmia was controlled, aerobically mineralizable N and exchangeable sodium concentrations were increased; fertilizer addition to herbicided plots also increased exchangeable potassium and calcium concentrations, and cation exchange capacity compared with untreated control plots. Conifer height, diameter, and canopy closure were Larix > Pinus > Picea. Kalmia cover in control plots was 87%; Kalmia reinvasion in herbicided plots achieved 40%–43% cover but did not differ among the conifer species. Principal component analysis indicated that aerobically mineralizable N and total N were positively correlated with canopy closure. Our results suggest that increases in organic-layer fertility were related to increased conifer size resulting from Kalmia control.

Abstract:
Socio-medical indicators developed by WHO for monitoring progress towards Health-for-All have been adapted to reveal, clearly and objectively, the devastating impact of state planning based on an outmoded immoral and unscientific philosophy of race superiority in South Africa on the health of the disenfranchised majority within the context of social and economic discrimination; Health policy indicators confirm that the government is committed to three options (Bantustans, A New Constitution, and A Health Services Facilities Plan) all of which are inconsistent with the attainment of Health-for-All; Social and economic indicators reveal gross disparities between African, Coloured, Indian, and White living and working conditions; Provision of health care indicators show the overwhelming dominance of high technology curative medical care consuming about 97 percent of the health budget with only minor shifts towards community-based comprehensive care; and Health status indicators illustrate the close nexus between privilege, dispossession and disease with Whites falling prey to health problems related to affluence and lifestyle, while Africans, Coloureds, and Indians suffer from disease due to poverty. All four categories of the indicator system reveal discrepancies which exist between Black and White, rich and poor, urban and rural. To achieve the social goal of Health-for-All requires a greater measure of political commitment from the state. We conclude that it is debatable whether a system which maintains race discrimination and exploitation can in fact be adapted to provide Health-for-All.

Abstract:
AbstractMany studies have looked for predictors of dominance in various species. However, to our knowledge only short term predictors have been investigated. Cows of the Hérens breed have been selected for fighting tendency and dominance ability; therefore these animals constitute an original and pertinent model to study the possibility of predicting dominance ability at an early age. Physical characteristics, several aspects of social behaviour, reactivity to fear eliciting situations, docility towards humans were assessed in 28 heifers at 6 and 18 months of age. These heifers were reared from birth in 5 permanent groups which never met. Dominance of the 28 subjects was estimated at 30 mo. by observing each heifer in a succession of seven groups that each contained 4 unacquainted animals. The 28 heifers were then allocated to 2 classes (dominant or subordinate) by means of a cluster analysis. Early indicators (combinations of variables) of adult dominance ability were assessed among the variables measured at 6 and 18 months, by a succession of linear discriminant analyses. The discriminant function which best predicts the dominance class either at 6 or 18 mo. includes mainly variables from the fear eliciting tests. This function allows accurate prediction of the dominant or subordinate position of heifers in 94.7 and 92.2% of the cases respectively. The less fearful a heifer was at either 6 or 18 months, the more dominant she tended to be at 30 months of age. These results are in accordance with the previously reported importance of emotional reactivity in dominance relationships in cattle.

Abstract:
Parasites play a crucial role in the ecology of animals. They also appear to be important in mechanisms underlying sexual selection processes. In this article we study the prevalence, effect and potential role in sexual selection of the protozoon Trypanosoma evansi in capybaras, Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris. We collected our samples from the annual capybara cull of a ranch in Venezuela, using the volume of the snout scent gland as an indicator of dominance; the residuals of body weight as indicators of condition; and the residuals of the spleen mass as indicators of immune function. Overall prevalence was 30.9% (N=97) with no difference between males and females and no relation between infection with T. evansi and condition. However, we found that infected animals had larger spleens (residuals), indicating an immunological cost of the infection. Further, males with larger snout scent glands (more dominant) were less likely to be infected than males with smaller glands (less dominant) suggesting that by choosing males with a large gland, females may be using the gland as an indicator of health, which is consistent with the “good genes” view of sexual selection.

Abstract:
The hydrochemical and hydrobiological indicators of activated sludge of industrial wastewater treatment plant of nitrogen-fertilizers enterprise were characterized. Nitrified activated sludge consists of loose flocs with a large number of filaments (156–495 ind./cm3), which determines its low sedimentation properties (sludge index 260–367 cm3/g). Its microfauna is characterized by low species diversity, with the dominance of the shell amoebae Euglypha. Denitrification sludge is formed from flakes 0.27–0.76 mm2 in size with a large number of dispersed bacteria due to the absence of microfauna under anaerobic conditions. In aeration tanks, intensive aeration and low concentration of wastewater ensure the development of flocculeforming bacteria Zoogloea ramigera, stalked ciliates and rotifers. The activated sludge of aeration tanks consists of compact large floccules 0.64–1.28 mm2 in size with an optimal amount of filamentous bacteria (1009–10 083 ind/cm3).

Emotion is an important factor for achieving positive performance. Especially crowd control police performance. In certain situations, there is confrontation and violence. A narrative of riots was created, because police clashed with demonstrators. The emotion regulation and their physiological indicators becomes a co-occurring phenomenon in a riot of demonstrations. Police anger in violent demonstration situations needs to be clearly mapped. This study intends to map the dominance of emotion regulation by involving heart rate indicators. Riot demonstration stimulus was given to participants to stimulate aggressive impulses, heart rate was measured when participants watched the video. Research participants come from Crowd Control Police in the Jakarta working area. Research data is tested by correlating emotion regulation with heart rate, provocation, and impulsive aggression. The results found the dominance of emotion regulation to other variables. The pulsating impulse of the riot stimulus effect is suppressed by emotion regulation. Research findings recommend the need to optimize the role of emotion regulation in dealing with violent demonstration situations. Optimization is done to apply emotion regulation consistently. Abstract:
Background/Aim. Speech disfluency (stuttering) is a multifactor disorder and its aetiology is a big unknown for the experts from various fields. Hemisphere dominance as the highest level in the process of integration of cortical functions is of special significance for the entire development. Praxis and gnosis related cortical organizers are the first to form; they become differentiated and functionally full in early childhood while the process of condensing is completed somewhere around the age of 7. Cortical activity organizers are definitely set at that age and from then on act from one hemisphere which becomes dominant for that function. Laterality is determined by hemisphere dominance, but it occurs as a special phenomenon and it is of great significance for personality. The aim of this research was to examine the influence and the relationship between hemisphere asymmetry on the occurrence of speech disfluency in children. Methods. Sixty children aged 5 to 7 years participated in this research. Thirty children suffer from speech fluency disorder (person who stutters ? PWS) and they belong to the experimental group while thirty children are fluent speakers (person who does not stutter ? PWNS) and they were the control group. Individual testing was used as a test method. Laterality assessment test was used as an instrument which consists of 5 sub-tests as follows: the assessment of hand-use laterality, the assessment of gestural handuse laterality, the assessment of foot laterality, the assessment of auditory laterality and the assessment of visual laterality. Results. Gestural hand-use laterality and auditory laterality in the PWS examinees were considerably worse in comparison to the PWNS examinees (?2 = 11.80, p = 0.002, and ?2 = 10.90, p = 0.003, respectively). Male examinees had worse scores in comparison with female examinees. Conclusion. There are certain changes in establishing a dominant hemisphere and differentiation of laterality in children who stutter in comparison with the children who are fluent speakers, which has been shown by statistically significant difference in accomplishments at the test of gestural hand-use laterality and the test of auditory laterality.

Abstract:
Abstract This research aims to test the fiscal dominance hypothesis for Pakistan through a bivariate structural vector auto regression (SVAR) specification, covering time period 1977 – 2016. This study employs real primary deficit (non interest government expenditures minus total revenues) and real primary liabilities (sum of monetary base and domestic public debt) as indicators of fiscal measures and monetary policy respectively. A structural VAR is retrieved both for entire sample period and four sub periods (1977 – 1986, 1987 – 1997, 1998 – 2008, and 2009 – 2016). This study identifies the presence of fiscal dominance for the entire sample period and the sub period from 1987 – 2008. The estimates reveal an interesting phenomenon that fiscal dominance is significant in the elected regimes and weaker in the presence of military regimes in Pakistan. From a policy perspective, this research suggests increased autonomy of central bank to achieve long term price stability and reduced administration costs to ensure efficient democratic regime in Pakistan.

Abstract:
The goal of this work to evaluate the efficiency of using a hiphop class method during the educational process of non-sports university female students based on lateral dominance indicator manifestation. One of the most important evaluation parameters of brain hemispheres activity is lateral organization profile presence or absence. Brain lateralization is manifested as a consequence if the brain hemispheres functional asymmetry occurs. Unequal distribution of brain strain on the brain hemispheres’ activity is one of the obvious reasons of both motor and sensory asymmetry occurrence among those, who go in for physical training and sports. This is connected with unilateral character of the training process in sports and in physical training educational process. In the course of pedagogical testing of non-sports university female students, functional motor asymmetry with an individual right-hand type of the lateral profile has been revealed. This fact emphasizes insufficiency of impact on one of the coordination skills indicators in the process of physical training classes with students, which aggravates the processes of brain hemispheres functioning, which, in its turn, leads to inferior development of psychomotor qualities, which manifestation level is directly connected with coordination skills. As a result of the pedagogical experiment, based on using hip-hop as a means of coordination skills refinement, experimental group showed reliable improvement of lateral dominance indicator towards its decrease.

Abstract:
Biological invasions are on the rise globally. To reduce future invasions, it is imperative to determine the naturalization potential of species. Until now, screening approaches have relied largely on species-specific functional feature data. Such information is, however, time-consuming and expensive to collect, thwarting the screening of large numbers of potential invaders. We propose to resolve such data limitations by developing indicators of establishment success of alien species that can be readily derived from open-access databases. These indicators describe key features of successfully established aliens, including estimates of potential range size, niche overlap with human-disturbed environments, and proxies of species traits related to their palaeoinvasions and local dominance capacities. We demonstrate the utility of this new approach by applying it to two large and highly invasive plant groups: Australian acacias and eucalypts. Our results show that these indicators robustly predict establishment successes and failures in each clade independently, and that they can cross-predict establishment in these two clades. Interestingly, the indicator identified as most important was species potential range size on Earth, a variable too rarely considered as a predictor. By successfully identifying key features that predispose Australian plants to naturalize, we provide an objective and cost-effective protocol for flagging high-risk introductions.

Abstract:
The suggestion that the two chaetognath species Sagitta setosa and S. elegans were ‘indicators’ of different water masses was first made by Meek (1928), working off Northumberland, and subsequently developed by Russell (1933, 1935, 1939) in his classical work on their distribution as indicators of ‘Channel’ and ‘Western’ water off Plymouth. The alternation in dominance of the two species during the well-known changes in the Western Channel off Plymouth during the past 60 years (which have been termed the ‘Russell’ cycle; Cushing & Dickson, 1976) have most recently been reviewed and discussed by Southward (1984).

Abstract:
Officially published statistics on socio-economic development of the regions implies significant disadvantages such as considerable time delay and insufficient validity. Analysis of banking indicators greatly contributes to easing the problems. Indicators on payment dynamics, changes in payment and settlement infrastructure, the structure of the bank resources, and lending to various loaners successfully complement and verify findings based on the traditional economic data on the real sector of the economy and the financial condition of citizens. In the Central Federal District, data on the banking sector activity confirms the official economic growth rates. During research no relations were found between the average per capita income and the amount of bank savings of individuals. We revealed the dominance of mortgage lending in the debt structure of individuals. Share of mortgage lending is larger in the most depressive regions. We figured out the inverse relationship between the growth of debt load and overdue debt in Central Federal region. The large companies contribute to the development of the most successful regions the way more than small and medium-sized business. Digitalization is a sequence of economic growth.
