Abstract:
God has chosen special persons to take care of the physical pains and sufferings of man and such persons are known as doctors. But recently countrywide dissatisfaction on the major pillar of the medical services raises number of questions. In this present article authors have tried to find out the related factors with the changing scenario of doctor- patients relationship from India’s prospective. In the ancient India, doctors were enjoying the highest level of respect in the society because of the attitude and activity towards the patient. In the last decade of the 20th century and beginning of 21st century, a chronic dissatisfaction began to settle over the relationships between doctors and patients. High level of corruption in the health care industry, inequity in health care delivery, technological development in medical science, growth of health insurance, patient’s desire in share decision making, information technology development are few factors behind changing doctor- patient relationship. If physicians take a little more time in reassuring patients in the old fashioned way, this will restore the deteriorating relationship.Asian Journal of Medical Sciences Vol.7(4) 2016 1-5

Abstract:
Purpose This study aims to explore the information-seeking behavior of female patients engaged in doctor shopping. An investigation was conducted on the following aspects: the reasons for doctor-shopping behavior (DSB), patients’ information needs and sources, patients’ use of the obtained information and the degree of satisfaction with the information collected. Design/methodology/approach In-depth interviews were conducted in this study. In total, 30 female participants who lived or worked in the Taipei metropolitan area, Taiwan, were recruited. Findings Dissatisfaction with treatment, confirmation of illness conditions, inconvenient treatment locations and hours and dissatisfaction with doctor’s attitude were the main reasons for DSB. Family members, friends, the internet and mass media were sources of information for participants when they sought second and successive doctors. In most cases, the degree of satisfaction toward the obtained information increased after each visit to a doctor during the doctor-shopping journey. However, not all participants shared information with doctors. The participants suggested that detailed explanations provided by doctors and better communication with doctors may reduce the occurrence of doctor shopping. Originality/value The findings of this study help medical personnel better understand DSB. The findings revealed the significance of information to patients and indicated that the information collected during doctor shopping is beneficial for patients.

Abstract:
The development of science and technology and the medical world today is very rapid, especially in the field of Information Technology and health, in the health sector by using the Knime application program and C 4.5 algorithm to provide accurate and precise information to decision makers in determining the completeness of the doctor's signature, because the sign the doctor's hand is very important especially for the patient in taking responsibility for the work the doctor has done to the patient and to the hospital where the doctor is devoting his knowledge. Because in carrying out a doctor's actions towards his patient if there is no doctor's signature in his handler, and the patient has a disability due to a doctor's mistake, then the doctor cannot be prosecuted legally because of the completeness of information on the health care data. Knime Program is able to provide answers and solutions in the process of data access, data transformation, initial investigation, visualization to report making to the hospital and can provide fast and accurate information to decision makers, both patients, hospitals and other party. From the results obtained in this study of 110 patients treated after screening and cleaning data obtained 69 patient data, where doctors who did not sign the patient data were 35 people or 50.7% were being signed as many as 34 people or 49 , 3%

Abstract:
Fiction is often credited with shaping public attitudes to science, but little science communication research has studied fans' deep engagement with a science-themed fiction text. This study used a survey to investigate the impacts of television series ‘Doctor Who’ (1963–89; 2005–present) on its viewers' attitudes to science, including their education and career choices and ideas about science ethics and the science-society relationship. The program's reported impacts ranged from causing participants to fact-check ‘Doctor Who’'s science to inspiring them to pursue a science career, or, more commonly, prompting viewers to think broadly and deeply about science's social position in diverse ways.

Ahmed, Tanvir. "The Case of Doctor-Patient Relationship in Bangladesh: An Application of Relational Model of Autonomy." Bangladesh Journal of Bioethics 12, no. 1 (February 7, 2021): 14–24. http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bioethics.v12i1.51900.

Abstract:
The objective of this article is to establish an alternative doctor-patient relationship model and describe its importance in the case of the doctor-patient relationship in Bangladesh. There is a lot of diversity in the religious beliefs, social norms and values in Bangladesh. Likewise, the development of biological science as well as medical technology, the allocation of healthcare resources must be considered as an important issue. That is why the autonomy of both doctor and patient is a relational factor here. Besides, the four traditional doctor-patient relationship models offered by Ezekiel J. Emanuel and Linda L. Emanuel are not beyond criticism. So, we need an ideal doctor-patient relationship model for Bangladesh to protect every patient’s autonomy which will give freedom to the patient in choosing their own treatment as well as which will not conflict with the patient’s social or cultural values. In this article, I have selected the relational model of autonomy as the method of alternative doctor-patient relationship model. Hopefully, this alternative model will work better since it considers care first concerning a patient’s autonomy. Besides, doctors would treat their patients as a ‘care seeker’ rather than ‘client’ or ‘customer’, and simultaneously, patients would perceive their physicians as ‘caregivers’. But, applying the relational model of autonomy in the case of doctor-patient relationship is more challenging in Bangladesh due to some obstacles like large numbers of population, illiteracy, insufficiency of skilled doctors and hospitals, corruption in medical sectors, social prejudices and so on. But, if we can overcome these problems, the relational model of autonomy will be considered as a suitable doctor-patient relationship model in Bangladesh.

Abstract:
The ArgumentThe Doctor of Philosophy, a nonmedieval academic figure who spread throughout the globe in the Modern Era, and who emblemized the transformation of academic knowledge into the “pursuit of research,” emerged through a long and tortuous path in the early modern Germanies. The emergence and recognition of the Doctor of Philosophy would be correlative with the nineteenth-century professionalization of the arts and sciences. Throughout the Early Modern Era, the earlier Doctors and older “professional” faculties from the medieval university — Theology, Law, and Medicine — opposed recognition of the Doctor of Philosophy. In Saxony, the forces of “medievalism” were able to block recognition of the Doctor of Philosophy, and they retained the degraded Master of Arts or Philosophy as the highest degree in arts and sciences. Forces of “modernism” prevailed, however, in Austria and Prussia in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. In Austria, the Doctor of Philosophy arrived as a wholly modern figure, the creation of a nice dossier and a civil service examination: the medieval “juridical” persona became a modern “bureaucratic” persona. Between this bureaucratic modernism of the Austrians and corporatist medievalism of the Saxons, the Prussians pursued a via media. Unlike the Saxons, they recognized the Doctor of Philosophy; but unlike the Austrians, they did not completely bureaucratize the candidate's persona. The Prussians demanded from the candidate a “work of research,” a doctoral dissertation, which exhibited the aesthetic qualities of the Romantic artist: originality and personality.

Abstract:
The doctor-patient relationship in Indonesia has changed. In the past, patients were inferior to doctors, but over time the relationship has put the two in a more balanced position. This article aims to examine the legal substance in regulating doctor-patient relationships in Indonesia. The arguments presented in this study demonstrated the increase in the number of civil lawsuits or complaints/criminal lawsuits has a substantial impact on legal resolution shifting. Although the law placed the legal relationship among two parties as mere contract-civil relationship, the criminalization is increasingly favored in recent years. As a recommendation, future law-making process needs to comprehensively consider medical science as the basis to lay the legal foundation in regulating doctor-patient relationships.

Abstract:
Introduction: The dialog of thoughts and information verbally or nonverbally between doctors and patients is patient-doctor communication. This study explores the persuasive quality of patient-doctor communication in a Nepali hospital. With the help of the data collected, the study evaluates mainly ethical appeals, logical appeals and emotional appeals. Objective: The objective of this research is to evaluate the persuasive elements specifically ethos, logos and pathos of patient-doctor communication in a Nepali hospital. Methodology: This is a hospital based descriptive study. This research has used Aristotle’s rhetoric: Ethos, logos and pathos. Because of the lack of big data in this area, secondary data is scanty, so an empirical tool (survey) is adopted for generating data. First a survey is done on 50 doctors working in the hospital, and 300 outpatients suffering from chronic diseases. The data is collected and entered on an Excel file. Later it is analyzed and interpreted thematically with the help of pie charts and tables. Results: Ethical appeals, logical appeals and emotional appeals are found good in patient-doctor communication in this hospital under study. Conclusion: In terms of ethos, logos and pathos separately, patient-doctor communication in Nepali hospital appears to be good. However, there is a lack of combination of all these three elements in most of the respondents.

Abstract:
A brief overview of the state of Russian medicine of the XVII century is presented firstly. The main attention is paid to the treatment of eye diseases during the XVIII century and the influence of famous foreign doctors and scientists on the origin and formation of Russian ophthalmology and its scientific basis. Special attention is paid to the role of the outstanding Dutch doctor and world-famous scientist G. Burhaave, who was called the teacher of the whole Europe, in the development of medicine and identification of ophthalmology as an independent section of medicine and as a special discipline. This contributed to the further development of ophthalmology not only in Europe but also in Russia. The important role of the Vienna ophthalmology school and its representatives, including G.Y. Beer, Y. Bart, J.Ya. Morenheim and others, is stated in relation to the formation of the Russian scientific school of ophthalmology, which was the successor of Vienna best traditions. Great attention is paid to scientific papers and textbooks on ophthalmology published in the XVIII century in Russian. We also studied the student book by G. Burhaave Public lectures on eye diseases that was the main textbook of the XVIII century for medical students throughout Europe and was published in Russia in 1798. We also analyzed the little-known in Russia handwritten document from the funds of the Russian State Historical Archive an essay by the Austrian doctor of medicine and surgery Professor J. Ya. Plenka Doctrina de morbisoculorum (Doctrine of Eye Diseases) translated into Russian by the doctor of medicine A. Maslovsky (1798). A. Maslovsky dedicated the translation of this recognized in Europe scientific work to the Chief Director of the Medical College Baron A. I. Vasiliev. On September 23, 1818, according to the Highest Order of Emperor Alexander the I the first department of optics in Russia was established at the Saint Petersburg branch of the Medical and Surgical Academy with the approval of doctor of medicine and surgery I. Abstract:
Understanding the patient's and companion's perception of the patient's illness can improve the patient's compliance and overall satisfaction. Patients' understanding of their illness is essential for recovery. Doctors should understand the perceptions and interpretations about the illness, experience, knowledge and culture of patients and their companions. The disease is what happens to the patient. Arthur Kleinman's Explanatory Model of Illness provides a guide for understanding the patient's point of view. The purpose of this study was to explore the meaning of stroke experienced by patients, according to the point of view of the patient and his companion, and the treatment they had, second, to explore how the patient and the companion convey the condition to the doctor. The method uses a phenomenological approach through interviews, observations, and secondary patient data. There are two primary informants, namely two patients and two companions. This study's results indicate a gap regarding the meaning of the disease between the patient's conception and the health sciences. Patients' and their companion's perceptions denote the economic, social, and political background in terms of the patient's illness. The information that patient and companion convey to doctors, usually do not whole information about what they have done during the journey of treatment. Models for interaction that are mainly developed are between doctor and patient. For effective communication between doctor and companion to help the patient better, there is an important model for consultation that includes triadic communication: doctor-patient-companion which can be advantageous. Important also for the doctor to upgrade the knowledge about understanding not only biomedical information but also the socio, psycho, cultural, and religion of the patient.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to identify how alienation in the works of A.P. Chekhov is associated with the images of doctors. With the help of systematic, comparative-historical methods and the method of artistic analysis, the images of doctors in the stories "Wife" and "Enemies", in the play "Uncle Vanya" and other works were considered. Alienation, understood as the impossibility of full contact with other people, distance from society and from loved ones, loss of the ability to sympathize with other people's problems, was one of the most important motives for A.P. Chekhov, through the prism of which images of a variety of characters were perceived. In the context of the images of doctors, alienation acquired a special sound. The scientific novelty of the study consists in the fact that it for the first time examines the images of doctors created by A.P. Chekhov in the context of alienation, reveals the influence of alienation on the personal and professional development of a doctor. The writer believes that a doctor has no right to experience alienation, to distance himself from people. Alienation is disastrous for a doctor and leads to his degradation as a person and a professional; he ceases to feel sympathy and loses the ability to help people by treating them physically and spiritually. The reason for alienation can be negative social factors: hard work, constant fatigue, material need. In the story "Enemies", A.P. Chekhov shows how alienation is born, in the play "Uncle Vanya" – how a doctor who has succumbed to alienation degrades. In the story "The Wife", Dr. Sobol relieves the alienation of the main character, engineer Asorin. The humanistic nature of the medical profession, according to the writer, cannot be combined with alienation.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to describe the patient level characteristics of government-assisted refugees (GARs) who had acquired family doctors after leaving specialized refugee clinics (RC). Design/methodology/approach – A cross-sectional telephone survey of GARs households, three to six years after arrival to British Columbia, that used logistic regression to identify GAR characteristics associated with having a family doctor compared to having no family doctor or remaining at a RC. Findings – Contact rate was 52 percent. Of 177 interviewed GARs who spoke 24 languages, only 61 percent had secured a family doctor. Only 57 percent were educated; 46 percent spoke English and 40 percent worked consistently. Central Asian or African origin was associated with having a family doctor (OR 10.6 (95 percent CI 3.1-36.8) for RC; OR 10.3 (95 percent CI 2.2-47.8) for no family doctor). Other significant characteristics in the comparison with GARs at a RC included English proficiency (OR 15.6 (95 percent CI 4.3-56.9)), and female sex (OR 4.0 (95 percent CI 1.4-1.1)). When compared to those with no family doctor, additional significant characteristics included Health Authority A compared to B (OR 8.9, 95 percent CI 1.4-55.6) and having recently visited a doctor (OR 7.7 (95 percent CI 1.9-30.7)). Research limitations/implications – The results of this study are limited to a specific environment and the low contact rate may have resulted in bias. Originality/value – This study described characteristics of GARs who had successfully transitioned to a family doctor and those who had not. This population is rarely captured in studies because they are difficult to contact, ethnically diverse and not proficient in English.

The links between psychology and medicine are so close that for psychologists working in this field, medical knowledge is absolutely essential. At the same time, doctors are increasingly aware of the need for psychological knowledge for successful medical work. So, medical psychology is an area of scientific knowledge and an area practical work, which applies equally to medicine and psychology. When developing problemsmedical psychology combines the efforts of psychologists, physiologists and doctors. Relevance of medical psychology is determined by the basic position of medicine that the doctor should treat not the disease, but the patient. Conclusions. Special attention to the teachers of the department is paid to the development of practical skills for solving situational problems, the acquisition skills of checking reflex activity, measuring reflex time. Solving situational problems poses a problem for the future doctor, to teach the student to think clinically and at the same time gives excellent theoretical training.

Abstract:
The object of the study is the images of doctors in the works of A.P. Chekhov from the point of view of the dynamics of their personal qualities. The subject of the study is the nature of these changes, which in most cases are negative for the writer for the professional and personal level of the doctor. The purpose of the article is to describe the phenomenon of personal degradation of a doctor in the literature of A.P. Chekhov: the novels "Ionich", "Belated Flowers", the plays "Uncle Vanya", "Three Sisters". The study was conducted using descriptive, cultural-historical, historical-typological methods, which allowed a comprehensive approach to the problem under study and noted the various features of the personality of doctors in the writer's work in dynamics. The scientific novelty of the study consists in the fact that the degradation of doctors in these works has been revealed. In the story "Ionich", the vulgar, philistine life slowly but inexorably sucks in the main character, Dr. Startsev. Toporkov in the "Flowers of the Belated" sought to get out of poverty, earn as much as possible, but he was powerless in front of greed and became indifferent to people. Astrov in "Uncle Vanya", under the influence of the surrounding county life, became indifferent to people, he does not love anyone, does not want anything. But at the same time, he plants forests, believes that they have a great beneficial effect on people's lives, he utters high words about a person. Abstract love for humanity and indifference to the people who are with him coexist in his soul. The philosophy of doctor Chebutykin in "Three Sisters" is of great importance for understanding the play. It is concluded that the degraded person in the works of A.P. Chekhov is usually a doctor, with the help of whose image the writer seeks to create a contrast between the noble mission of the doctor and his personality.
