Full textThis these focuses on the impact of the development of food retailing on Jordanian agricultural producers. This work is particularly interesting because it allows us to approach the evolutions necessary for traditional farms, which dispose of their production in the wholesale markets, in order to prepare themselves for the agronomic, technical and managerial requirements of modern channels. This thesis also shows that the sale in the supermarkets is not for the moment very profitable for the Jordanian farmers. Despite this, they are adopting a strategy of anticipation by positioning themselves today in this modern chain

Full textThe French lecturer Jean-Marc MOUSSERON wrote that “law is the tool bringing economic choices into being, these economic choices themselves following fundamental political ones”. It is indeed by pursuing political choices such as the increase of the purchasing power or the reduction of consumer price that economic law protects and controls big retailers' action. By prohibiting the refusal to sell, the price discrimination practice and the minimum prices' resale practice, the French government tried indeed to protect the competition from grocery retailers. However as a consequence of this protection, small independent retailers lost their competitiveness. The French government tried hence to protect them by introducing anticompetitive legal barriers. To sum up, the government either protects the competition of grocery retailers to the detriment of traditional retailers or protects the small traditional retailers to the detriment of the competition. Bearing that alternative in mind, it seems that only a legislative action aiming to protect consumers will bring about a satisfyingly regulated retail market for the benefit of both the competition of grocery retailers and small retailers

Full textDrug is a public good of health and an essential element of the right to effective health. It has to be of good quality and its access should be made according to the needs. By questioning the safety and the access to medicines, we attempt to reconcile, law, economics, ethics and politics. In developing countries, the weaknesses of income and the limited production capacity of drugs are factors that alter the placing on the market and the supervision of medication. Once on the market, illegal parallel circuits that are difficult to control also disturb its distribution. Despite the efforts of the political authorities to make drugs available, many challenges remain. These difficulties are partly related to patent law. Indeed, the protection of the drugs confers a monopoly on its holder, which sets prices without any competition. These difficulties have led to the relaxation of patent law, but the use of these flexibilities is not easy for developing countries. The pursuit of health for all and the economic system respond to different logics and the concept of drug as a public good remains an ideal to be achieved, which probably calls for a rereading of the patent law

Full textIntermediaries are little studied in Management Science. The research proposes to put forward a particular type of intermediary that is the wholesaler. Faced with the digitization of all sectors, it is interesting to question the capacity of wholesalers to generate added value in the distribution channel. Based on the triadic methodology and the field of study, it turns out that digital can modify one of the inter-organizational relational processes. In the absence of a strong demand for downstream distribution channels, wholesalers are struggling to put in place a digital strategy that makes sense. On the other hand, this delay allows the industrialist to take the lead on information flows by leaving the management of physical flows to the wholesaler. This phenomenon of partial re-intermediation calls into question the relations between the actors without seeing the disappearance of the wholesaler

Full textBusiness plays an important role in developing countries ; particularly in togo. There exist two types of distribution channels of products, namely the traditional distribution channel (open markets) and the modern distribution channel (shops and supermarkets). Therefore consumers can choose either of the two distribution channels. Besides the environment of africa is special. It is not only because of its economic characteristics, but also related to the culture of the society. What are the decisive factors which influence the consumers to buy a product from one particular distribution channel rather than from the other ? on the basis of the market survey which were conducted with 200 consumers, we tried to explore the opinions of the consumers on the two distribution channels and the reasons why they chose one particular channels. In the meanwhile, we notice that the consumers in togo have different opinions on the two distribution channels. They prefer visiting one to the other distribution channel in accordance with their opinions of the different channels. With this end in view, a number of propositions are provided by taking into account of the cultural reality of togo

Full textThe occurrence and distribution of enteric bacteria in a total of 316 milk and milk products, 20 cleaning water and 20 udder swab samples collected from the central highlands of Ethiopia were studied. Hundred-forty-three smallholder dairy producers were interviewed to assess the associated critical points of contamination during milk production, processing and preservation. A total of 534 isolates distributed among 10 genera and 20 species were identified. Klebsiella, Escherichia and Enterobacter were the dominant genera in their order of abundance with Escherichia coli being the most prevalent species. The overall mean aerobic mesophilic, coliform and enterobacterial counts of dairy products were 8. 3, 4. 5 and 5. 2 log cfu mL-1 or g-1, respectively. Resistance patters of 165 bacterial isolates distributed among 11 species to 12 commonly used antibiotics was studied. At least one of the bacterial species tested was resistant to at least one of six anitibiotics (tetracycline, erythromycin, ampicillin, amoxicilli, chloramphenicol and tobramycin), while no resistance was observed to streptomycin, gentamicin, amikacin, sulfamide, naldixic acide and ciprofloxacin. Forty-five percent of the isolates tested showed multi-drug resistance to two to five antimicrobials. Growth and survival of Salmonella Typhimurium DT104 and Escherichia coli O157:H7 during Ergo (naturally fermented milk) and Ayib (Ethiopian cottage cheese) making were also evaluated. Both Salmonella Typhimurium DT104 and Escherichia coli O157:H7 survived milk fermentation up to 72 h with average counts of 2. 0 to 5. 4 and 2. 8 to 4. 5 log cfu mL-1, respectively. DT104 was inactivated between 20 and 40 min of Ayib-making at 60°C, while E. Coli O157:H7 was not detected when determined at the same time but at 70°C. The direct consumption of Ergo is not safe and for Ayib-making, a minimum cooking temperature of 70°C for at least 40 min is required to ensure the wholesomeness of the product. The sanitary conditions of the products were substandard. Generally, inadequate infrastructure, shortage of clean water, lack of cooling facilities and limited knowledge on hygienic handling of dairy products are attributed. From the results of the present study and the prevailing condition, creation of awareness through training could be considered to improve the current situation. Further research should also focus on other pathogens associated with milk and milk products such as Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus cereus and Campylobacter jejuni

Cas des mils de sorghos au Mali." Paris 10, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011PA100001.
Full textMali, country sahelian is located in a center of diversity of species among which are listed millet and sorghum. These two species are the main staple food crops. On-farm production represents the main source of seeds for peasants. Various reasons such drought or bad production motivate farmers to look permanently for more productive varieties. For that they have recourse to two seed supply systems which coexist on same space: the peasants’ seed system (PSS) and the formal seed system (FSS). The PSS which informally organized is the principal source of seed supply for peasants and more important than the FSS. In general, none of these systems satisfies the peasants’need seeds. Thus the farmer’s organizations of Mali, after participatory in research projects in varietal selection initiated her program of production and diffusion of certified seeds by co—operatives (FOSS). The result of this work put forward the multiplicity of the actors’ networks the seed systems with different resources, approachs and means. In the FSS, the choice of the varieties is done by the national seed service and the regional agriculture managers. Because of great diversity of the environments and preferences of the peasants, the restricted number of varieties and centers of multiplication it answer only one minority of situations. The FOSS diffuses certified seed to the satisfaction of its members. The full number of seed peasants and members to farmer’s organizations increases year by year. The quality of this network shows that the peasant is not hostile with the improved varieties. The various entities of the networks concerned with their articulation were formalized to produce a generic diagram of the management of the millets and sorghums varieties within in situ conservation

Full textThis study explores the conditions surrounding the closure of traditional movie theatres inWest Africa, particularly in Chad. It will look at the multi-facetted causes, such as thetechnological, economic, political and financial reasons which have led to the transformationof these cinemas into shops or places of worship. It examines the process of setting up film-viewing alternatives that seem typical of Africa:cultural centers run by church congregations, embassies or the Chadian government andespecially “video-clubs” or “cine-clubs”, informal establishments of cinema distributionfound throughout the African urban landscape. The detailed analysis of these devices as family businesses, social venues and vectors of abastardized form of cinema culture is at the heart of this research. It allows us to identify theeconomic impact of these players as links in the process that takes a movie from itsreproduction in pirated form by Nigerian or Cameroon companies through to screening beforea Chadian audience.Through interviews conducted within a sample of spectators, we have studied their cinemahabits, behaviour and attachment to the films proposed. The latter is the second main axis of this study, particularly concerning the relationship thatthese audiences maintain with Chadian cinema, and, in a broader context, with cinema fictionitself. This thesis lays the foundations for a reflection on the role that the State could play inimproving the conditions of distribution and reception of African cinema throughout Chad
Benrqya, Yassine. "Product segmentation and distribution strategy selection : an application in the Retail Supply Chain." Thesis, Bordeaux, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015BORD0114/document.
Full textNowadays companies must look to develop new distribution strategies in order to achieve the required performance from their supply chain. In this quest, companies wonder about the consistency of their distribution strategies with the products they are selling. Several types of distribution strategies exist in the retail supply chain. These strategies are chosen based on the products characteristics, and/or the impact on the supply chain performances. In this research, we study the impact of three distribution strategies, namely: traditional warehousing, cross-docking pick by line and cross-docking pick by store, on three supply chain performances, namely: service level, cost and bullwhip effect. In addition, we analyse the impact of the products characteristics on the performances of the distribution strategies and propose a framework for choosing the right strategy for each product. The supply chain studied is composed of three echelons: Supplier Distribution Centre, Retailer Distribution Centre and Stores. Based a real business case, we perform a process modelling, that allows us to develop a deterministic Macro cost model and a simulation model. The macro cost model allows to evaluate the impact of the distribution strategies on the supply chain cost performance. After the macro cost analysis, we develop a simulation model where we integrate the data related to the products (demand, volume, ordering quantities etc.) in the model. This model allows a more dynamic simulation of the system in a large time period and determines the right strategy to select for each product depending on its characteristics and the impact on the performances. At the end of this research, we present a framework for product segmentation and distribution strategy selection
