This diploma thesis focuses on polar pesticides and their analysis in agricultural commodities. One of the aims was establishing of the method for quantitative determination of diquat and paraquat using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry. In this MA-thesis, I investigate the usage of musical terminology in the study of modern, post-metric poetry. I present the theoretical field «musico-literary studies», and point to some examples of inconsistent vocabulary in the critical debate on musicalized poetry. This thesis focuses on how Göran Sonnevis poetry, particularly KOSTER 2002 in Oceanen (2005), and how the poem portrays how the main character encounters divine concepts of entirety using mathematic terminology. The purpose of this study is to show what melancholy and irony in my poems express and what techniques that are used to accomplish these effects. Many theorists, among them Sigmund Freud and Julia Kristeva, characterize melancholy as an experience of loss, and therefore one of my questions is what kind of losses appear in my poetry. In search for an answer I analyze the texts from both a psychoanalytic and a sociological point of view. In the latter perspective I discuss the postmodern society using concepts from contemporary thinkers like Zygmunt Bauman, Fredric Jameson and Jean Baudrillard.

In this essay I analyze the way my collection of poetry relates to the concept cyclic. What is cyclic and what different interpretations are there concerning the concept? Which other related concepts are there regarding things that seem to reoccur regularly? How does the cyclical, the circular, relate to the linear in regard, for example, to the perception of time? Life often creates the sense that different phenomena and experiences repeat themselves.
