Abstract:
Using digital media is complicated. Invasions of privacy, increasing dataveillance, digital-by-default commercial and civic transactions and the erosion of the democratic sphere are just some of the complex issues in modern societies. Existential questions associated with digital life challenge the individual to come to terms with who they are, as well as their social interactions and realities. In this article, we identify three contemporary normative responses to these complex issues –digital citizenship, digital rights and digital literacy. These three terms capture epistemological and ontological frames that theorise and enact (both in policy and everyday social interactions) how individuals learn to live in digitally mediated societies. The article explores the effectiveness of each in addressing the philosophical, ethical and practical issues raised by datafication, and the limitations of human agency as an overarching goal within these responses. We examine how each response addresses challenges in policy, everyday social life and political rhetoric, tracing the fluctuating uses of these terms and their address to different stakeholders. The article concludes with a series of conceptual and practical ‘action points’ that might optimise these responses to the benefit of the individual and society.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Google’s, Apple’s, and other companies’ automated assistants are increasingly serving as personal shoppers. These digital intermediaries will save us time by purchasing grocery items, transferring bank accounts, and subscribing to cable. The literature has only begun to hint at the paradigm shift needed to navigate the legal risks and rewards of this coming era of automated commerce. This Article begins to fill that gap by surveying legal battles related to contract exit, data access, and deception that will determine the extent to which automated assistants are able to help consumers to search and switch, potentially bringing tremendous societal benefits. Whereas observers have largely focused on protecting consumers and sellers from digital intermediaries’ market power, sellers like Amazon, Comcast, and Wells Fargo can also harm consumers by obstructing automated assistants. Advancing consumer welfare in the automated era requires not just consumer protection, but digital intermediary protection. The Article also shows the unpredictable side of eliminating switching costs. If digital assistants become pervasive, they could gain the ability to rapidly direct millions of consumers to new purchases whenever a lower price or new innovation becomes available. Significantly accelerated consumer switching—what I call hyperswitching—does not inevitably harm society. But in the extreme it could make some large markets more volatile, raising unemployment costs or financial stability concerns as more firms fail. This new kind of disruption could pose challenges for commercial and banking regulators akin to those familiar to securities regulators, who deploy idiosyncratic tools such as a pause button for the stock market. Even if sellers prevent extreme hyperswitching, managers may strategically prepare for hyperswitching with economically costly behavior such as hoarding liquid assets or forming conglomerates to provide insurance against a sudden exodus of customers. The transaction-cost-focused literature has missed macro-level drawbacks. The regulatory architecture reflects these scholarly gaps. One set of agencies regulates automated assistants for consumer protection and antitrust violations but does not go beyond those microeconomic inquiries. Nor do they prioritize strengthening digital intermediaries. Regulators with more macroeconomic missions lack jurisdiction over automated assistants. The intellectual framework and regulatory architecture should expand to encompass both the upsides and downsides of digital consumer sovereignty.

Abstract:
●●●●● Romania becomes a fast ageing society. The support of the elderly became, consequently, a significant topic, and promoting digital technologies is an efficient modality to provide help in this regard. The lower degree of elderly digitalization must be understood in the context of multiple digital divides. Along with the existent divide between generations (age being one of the digital profficiency predictors), there are other factors too, with a major impact, as low level of education or revenues, these two being strongly correlated with a lower degree of digital technology use. This paper is examining the present situation of Internet use in a small sample of elder population in the region of Bucharest-Ilfov. The study analizes the causes that explain the lower digital abilities of eldelrly persons (over 65 years old), and the factors that influence these abilities, using data from Romanian society. The conclusions of the article find that public administration, the digital equipment manufacturers, and families of elderly persons should work together to help these persons to use the advantages of these new digital technologies. Abstract:
The current study's objectives are to analyze a broad overview of hash function applications in cryptography and investigate the connections between digital signature applications and cryptographic hash functions. Applications of the hash function are widespread and used for a variety of purposes, including password hashing, file integrity verification, key derivation, time stamping, rootkit detection, and digital signatures. Cryptographic hash functions are a crucial tool used in many sections of data security. A digital signature is a code that is electronically associated with a document and includes the sender's information. As a result, the usefulness of the digital signature in validating digital messages or documents is great. Without mathematics, there would be no cryptographic hash functions. Mathematics is credited with computer science's success, or, to put it another way, it is because of mathematical science that computer science is understood and can be explained to everyone. The study's main goals are to explain hash functions to the reader, as well as some of their uses, including digital signatures, and to provide detailed examples of some hash functions and their creation. Abstract:
ENGLISH ABSTRACT Developing digital competence through reflection on bodily and emotional experiences – a teacher educator’s experienceThis article asks how reflections on bodily and emotional experiences can have impact on the development of teacher educators’ digital competence. The data material in this autoethnographic study are reflection notes from a teacher educator’s digital teaching in the spring of 2021, which are used to illuminate the research questions: What bodily and emotional experiences are expressed when a teacher educator teaches digitally? What significance do these bodily and emotional experiences have for her choices at the moment of teaching? And what significance can reflections on bodily and emotional experiences have for the development of teacher educators’ professional digital competence? By applying Dewey’s understanding of experience and Fuchs’ concepts of bodily resonance and interbody interaction, the analysis reveals how digital teaching creates affective and emotive experiences that have an impact on the choices the teacher educator makes at the time of teaching, for the relationship with students and for the teacher educator’s experience of her own teaching. The findings also show that reflections on affective and emotive experiences from digital teaching help to highlight the teacher educator’s implicit professional knowledge and thereby make the experiences significant in the teacher educators’ development of their own teaching practice digitally and on campus.

Abstract:

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: This work starts from a base, which is not necessary to travel again, and takes it for granted, that is, repeating on the one hand the need to adapt as notaries to a new support; Just as the tabelion had to go from the waxed clay board that gave it its name, to the use of the parchment and then of the paper, we will have to adapt to the use of the digital document, that is, the instrument that has a metal-magnetic support. Nor do we get into the subject of the digital signature, its history, the procedure to reach it, etc. We do not want to waste time on these issues that other authors have developed so well in so many works to advance a specific topic, in relation to the digital document, this is the preparation of a digital testimony. We circumscribe the statement only in relation to the testimony of writing, and not in relation to the protocol, because we believe that while it is necessary to adapt to new technologies, the changes have to be gradual. Necessarily the change takes a first stage of experimentation, of error and correction, of knowledge and handling of the subject, and mainly because the change is not good for the change itself but based on serious foundations that give rise to it. We see very clearly in this world that has been revolutionized in the communication sector, that it is necessary to have a document capable of being transmitted, from one place to another with the immediacy that new technologies give us and with the advantages of having the full probative value (the advantages of this digital document being public and not private) have to come to light, but there is no need to set aside the matrix support and all the security it provides. The advantages of a digital protocol are still not clearly seen, perhaps in a few years, these advantages arise, or perhaps there are more secure systems in digital format than in paper format, and we must change, but this is not yet seen as the moment of doing it.

Abstract:
Western Indigenous cultures have been colonized, dehumanized and silenced. As AI grows and learns from colonial pre-existing biases, it also reinforces the notion that Natives no longer are but were. And since machine learning requires the input of categorical data, from which AI develops knowledge and understanding, compartmentalization is a natural behavior AI undertakes. As AI classifies Indigenous communities into a marginalized and historicized digital data set, the asterisk, the code, we fall into a cultural trap of recolonization. This necessitates an interference. A non-violent break. A different kind of rupture. One which fractures colonization and codification and opens a space for colonial recovery and survival. If we have not yetcontemporized the colonized Western Indigenous experience, how can we utilize tools of artificial intelligence such as the interface and digitality to create a space that de-codes colonial corporeality resulting in a sense of boundlessness, contemporization and survival?

Abstract: The development of information technologies, and in particular the Internet, has led to the emergence of new social concerns that raise the impossibility of preserving privacy in the digital sphere. This contribution addresses, in historical perspective, the formation of a new socio-political concept of privacy that has replaced the previous one. To this end, the main elements that differentiate both are presented and what are the fundamental sociotechnical transformations that have enabled this conceptual change. The development of the text will lead to defend the suitability of a political view on privacy and ends with the presentation of some recent proposals that advocate understanding privacy as a collective problem. Keywords: Public space, right to privacy, private life, public/private, cyberspace.

Abstract:
Geography is in the midst of a digital turn. This turn is reflected in both geographic scholarship and praxis across sub-disciplines. We advance a threefold categorization of the intensifying relationship between geography and the digital, documenting geographies produced through, produced by, and of the digital. Instead of promoting a single theoretical framework for making sense of the digital or proclaiming the advent of a separate field of ‘digital geography’, we conclude by suggesting conceptual, methodological and empirical questions and possible paths forward for the ‘digital turn’ across geography’s many sub-disciplines.

A response to the articles on e-mail by Li Lan and Li Yongyan in ET64 (Oct 00). This article discusses what has been happening to e-mail English and what might yet happen as a consequence to off-line English. The paper first examines the effect on the use of English in the electronic medium. It then talks about the influence of e-mail English on the off-line use of English, and closes with a description of the interface between English and Chinese in e-mails.Li Yongyan focuses on the discursive aspect of e-mail messages in her article. She mainly talks about styles and coherence in e-mail writing. In contrast, Li Lan primarily describes the linguistic aspect of e-mail English. Her article discusses both the conversational style of, and innovations and distinctive usages in, e-mail English. Both also describe English-Chinese code-mixing in their articles, as well as the emergence of novel linguistic features in e-mail English, such as the omission of the sentence subject.

Digitalization of farm machines and production processes in agriculture is progressing very dynamically. Therefore, farm processes management must use the available data, which allow making decisions in an optimal way, using current as well as historical data. The paper presents the latest trends related to the digitization of processes in agriculture. The process of digitization of agriculture is very dynamic and in the near future resource management will be more effective, which will limit the impact of farming on the environment, supporting sustainable agriculture.

Abstract:
Digitalization plays a major role in contributing towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Without transformation of existing businesses, both economic and environmental challenges of the future cannot be solved sustainably. However, there is much confusion on interrelationships and terms dealing with digitization or digitalization: Digital business model, digital transformation, digital entrepreneurship. How do these terms interrelate with and to digitalization, and how do they support firms to grow sustainably? To answer this question, we identified seven core digital-related terms based on a structured literature search within the management and economics domain, namely: Digital, Business Model, Digital Business Model, Digital Technology, Digital Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Digital Entrepreneurship. Thereafter, we analyzed prior literature for deriving a common understanding and definition as a basis for interrelations within a conceptual framework. Definitions were presented in a case study setup with twelve innovation and research and development (R&D) managers from various business units of a German high-tech company. Based on these insights, we propose a conceptual framework on how Digital Readiness, Digital Technology, and Digital Business Models might sustainably relate to Innovation, moderated by a Digital Transformation Process. With this approach, we aim to equip practitioners and researchers alike in handling and addressing change through digitalization sustainably.
