Abstract:
Embedded Commissioning (ECx) a new digital technology promises to transform capital project delivery (CPD) and its evaluation in the years to come. The primary strategy in ECx is to create an entirely new approach to building evaluation by merging building commissioning methods and information technologies into a new framework. The vision of such broad innovations must include not just new digital tools and techniques but also advances in AEC practices that utilize these innovations. We envision design and engineering practices that are in the service of sound economy, environmental conservation, improved value, greater efficiency, and satisfied occupants. CPD is no longer about competence in delivering just conventional services. Engineers and Architects have to rise to the challenges of our time and insure the best economy in providing the greatest value to stakeholders. Performance needs have to be optimized against first and lifecycle cost of designs. Value must be assessed not just for the bottom line but for other tangible (health, productivity) and intangible (comfort, happiness, recognition) stakeholders benefits. Last but not least, their products must meet the three pillars of the CPD market place: quality, cost, and schedule.

Abstract:
The aim of the contribution is to create an event-controlled simulation of an automated production system using selected simulation software according to analyses and creation PLC control program compatible with human-machine control interface (HMI) visualization. The programmer can test the control program without the need for additional hardware on a virtual model of the machine. This method is called as a Virtual Commissioning method. The question is whether these new digital technologies are beneficial in the development process of new machines. The theoretical part of the contribution deals with the evaluation of the current state of knowledge in the field of virtual commissioning systems from the perspective of the Industry 4.0 concept and the use of principles taken from the technology of digital twins for analysing the possibilities of productive support of simulation, programming and visualization of control. For the Virtual Commissioning of the Quality-handling station from a flexible production system. It was chosen Tecnomatix Process simulating software for the developing of the Digital Twin of the station that is suitable for the connection of the logical behaviour inputs and outputs of the Digital Twin to the PLCSIM emulator. The main goal is to create a functional PLC program, so that in the second phase the process of virtual commissioning can be tested by the Software-the-Loop method. The preparation of the simulation model consists in a sample of the control station model of the production system, the process of creating kinematic bonds, behaviour model, creating control signals in the Tecnomatix Process Simulate program. Programming procedure and acquaintance with control means in the Simatic Manager program, selection of communication interface and creation of control visualization. In the final work, validation is performed and evaluation supports the objectives and the results confirmed the benefits of the Virtual Commissioning tool.

Abstract:
Purpose As the use of building information modeling (BIM) for facilities management (FM) continues to grow, questions remain around the quality and completeness of digital assets to support FM practices. This paper aims to examine the current gap between digital and physical assets in the absence of formal information requirements and its impact on the handover process. Design/methodology/approach An action-research was carried out with a large public organization to understand the challenges of their current FM processes and the steps required in developing an asset information model (AIM) from a project information model (PIM). A mixed method approach was employed with interviews, document analysis and an exploratory pilot case study. Findings This paper investigates the process, the challenges and the level of effort of the information commissioning process to create a fit-for-use AIM. Four distinct steps were identified in the process as follows: analyzing the handover PIM and documents, extracting FM-specific information, populating the model with the information and attaching operations and maintenance (O&M) documents. The research highlights the significant amount of effort that is required when no specific asset information requirements are formulated at the project onset. Practical implications The paper presents an information commissioning process that helps to develop an AIM from a PIM. Understanding the impact of the lack of requirements on the information commissioning process can help asset owners understand the importance of defining and articulating their information requirements up front. Originality/value This paper provides empirical evidence of the impact of the absence of formal information requirements on the development of a fit-for-use AIM.

Abstract:
The article addressed the issue of commissioning task that must take place before putting out-ofstep protection into operation. Most of the developers of digital out-of-step protection devices utilize control of impedance vector locus parameter during transient in a power system to detect its out-of-step operation, however checking the setting of such protection in the field conditions using existing means is often a challenging work. To facilitate the commissioning of such devices and provide means to automatize the process so as to rid of human factor the authors suggest means of simulating impedance vector locus with the desired parameters on the complex plane to check distance out-of-step protection. The means for checking current-oscillation based out-of-step protection is also considered. The results of a transient simulation representing instantaneous values of currents and voltages are saved in the international oscillography recording format COMTRADE, which makes it possible to carry out comprehensive verification of emergency control equipment using any kind of testing equipment that is able to generate the corresponding electrical signals stored in such format.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a model quality assessment method based on Support Vector Machine, which can be used to develop a digital twin. This work is strongly connected with Industry 4.0, in which the main idea is to integrate machines, devices, systems, and IT. One of the goals of Industry 4.0 is to introduce flexible assortment changes. Virtual commissioning can be used to create a simulation model of a plant or conduct training for maintenance engineers. On a branch of virtual commissioning is a digital twin. The digital twin is a virtual representation of a plant or a device. Thanks to the digital twin, different scenarios can be analyzed to make the testing process less complicated and less time-consuming. The goal of this work is to propose a coefficient that will take into account expert knowledge and methods used for model quality assessment (such as Normalized Root Mean Square Error – NRMSE, Maximum Error – ME). NRMSE and ME methods are commonly used for this purpose, but they have not been used simultaneously so far. Each of them takes into consideration another aspect of a model. The coefficient allows deciding whether the model can be used for digital twin appliances. Such an attitude introduces the ability to test models automatically or in a semi-automatic way.

Abstract:
AbstractDigital Twin (DT) is considered a key approach to enhance the system reactivity to uncertain events due to its ability to getting data from the field and triggering actions on the physical asset. Given the modern technological and rapidly changing work environment, it is likely that in the next years companies will need to retrofit their manufacturing systems by integrating DTs. In this context, it is fundamental to define the necessary steps for the development of DTs and for their integration into manufacturing systems through a DT architecture. In response to this issue, a methodology based on Virtual Commissioning is proposed. A stepwise approach is illustrated in which the DT is designed, integrated and verified using a virtual environment. The methodology is validated through the integration of a DT into a flow shop for the implementation of a scheduling reactive to machine breakdown. By following the steps of the proposed methodology, a DT architecture able to improve the makespan of the studied flow shop is developed, suggesting the potential applicability of the approach to industrial manufacturing systems.

Abstract:
Virtual Commissioning (VC) is a method and tool for verifying and testing the PLC control program on a virtual digital model of the manufacturing system. It allows to visualize and test the control system before the real commissioning of the production systems. The aim of the research is to implement virtual reality (VR) into the VC method and to verify the mutual interaction of signals between the simulation in VR environment, the digital model of the production system and the control system. The introduction of VR in VC increases the concept by adding more realistic visualization and tracking, which extends its validation capabilities. The changes made in VR virtual environment are transferred to the simulation model and can be validated in a real production system. The real production robotic system transformed into a virtual form will be a case study with its verification. Also will be tested security protocols and proven human interaction with the system to control the system through the virtual HMI (virtual user interface) using VR.

Abstract:
Intelligent automation, including robotics, is one of the current trends in the manufacturing industry in the context of “Industry 4.0”, where cyber-physical systems control the production at automated or semi-automated factories. Robots are perfect substitutes for a skilled workforce for some repeatable, general, and strategically-important tasks. However, this transformation is not always feasible and immediate, since certain technologies do not provide the required degree of flexibility. The introduction of collaborative robots in the industry permits the combination of the advantages of manual and automated production. In some processes, it is necessary to incorporate robots from different manufacturers, thus the design of these multi-robot systems is crucial to guarantee the maximum quality and efficiency. In this context, this paper presents a novel methodology for process automation design, enhanced implementation, and real-time monitoring in operation based on creating a digital twin of the manufacturing process with an immersive virtual reality interface to be used as a virtual testbed before the physical implementation. Moreover, it can be efficiently used for operator training, real-time monitoring, and feasibility studies of future optimizations. It has been validated in a use case which provides a solution for an assembly manufacturing process.

Abstract:
Achenbach supplies worldwide with first-class customized rolling mills and machinery for the manufacturing of flat-rolled products from non-ferrous metals. In order to fulfil the customer-specific production requirements, Achenbach developed a wide variety of options for specific subjects. The control of the strip quality parameters like flatness or thickness in the rolling process is a key performance index. An increase of computation power in the field of industrial computers gave a chance to develop more complex model based control algorithms, which led to a significant improvement of the strip quality. In addition it gave an impulse for the development of a comprehensive mathematical model of the rolling mill. This paper will present the general virtual Achenbach Rolling Mill which is a digital representation of the rolling process in general and the behavior of the major actuators in the rolling process in detail. The behavior of drives, strip-tensions, and roll-gap is simulated in a multi-variable real-time environment. In the same environment the OPTIROLLi3®- model based controls can interact with the virtual machine. A vast number of challenges of the real rolling situation can be demonstrated by working on this ‘mill simulator’ and improved solutions are developed taking advantages from this platform. As the virtual machine allows all kinds of virtual testing without scrapping ‘real material’ a wide range of applications is possible for this virtual rolling mill. Some results from the SIL (software in loop) simulation will be presented for better clarity.

Abstract:
ObjectivesAlthough it is widely acknowledged that digital therapeutics will play a significant role in the future delivery of healthcare, the method by which these innovations may be commissioned by the National Health Service, at scale, remains unclear. This study explores English health commissioners’ experiences of, and attitudes towards, adopting digital healthcare innovations.Methods37 commissioners and decision-makers from a range of sectors within the health profession were invited to participate in structured interviews to gather relevant examples of experience and opinions. 14 commissioners participated and the notes from the resulting interviews were interpreted using qualitative content analysis. Controlled interpretation was applied to the categorised responses, paraphrasing and classifying into themes.ResultsCommon determinants and barriers to adoption of digital mental health expressed during the interview process included commissioners’ lack of familiarity with technology, information governance, digital literacy of users and decision-makers.ConclusionsRecognition of identified barriers may be helpful for innovators when developing engagement and market access strategies and suggest areas for focus and further development within the commissioning process to accommodate digital health solutions.

Abstract:
Purpose. Develop a methodology for the implementation of digital control systems for continuous objects on a personal computer, which should provide: bringing the temperature in the chamber to a given value at a given range of air flow in the system; maintaining the temperature in the chamber at a given level at a given range of air flow in the system; visualization and control of the stand of the thermal object; control of fan speed in order to create a disturbing effect; registration of process parameters in the thermal object. The methods. The development is carried out through the phased implementation of a digital control system for a continuous object, implemented on a personal computer. The proposed approach consists of the main stages: a controller is synthesized in a continuous form, which implements the proportional-integral-differential (PID) control law. The simulation of the obtained system is performed in the mathematical package MATLAB. At the next stage on the personal computer the software implementation of the synthesized digital regulator is executed. At the last stage, the hardware elements of the control system were developed and implemented. Findings. The use of this approach in the development of a system of automatic control of a continuous object on the basis of a thermal object allows you to effectively create a complete hardware and software part of digital SAC using Scada system Zenon. This will significantly reduce the duration and cost of commissioning of ACS in production conditions at the actual control facility. Which makes it possible to significantly reduce the duration and cost of commissioning of ACS in production conditions at the actual control facility. The originality. For the first time, a method of creating a control system for thermal objects, based on programmable logic controller with the synthesis of the system in the mathematical package MATLAB. Practical implimintation. The obtained data allow to bring the model as close as possible to the real control system and to perform effective testing of its functioning in non-production conditions.

Abstract:
This paper presents an application of an open architecture control system implemented on a multi-axis wood computer numerical control milling machining center, as a digital twin control. The development of the digital twin control system was motivated by research and educational requirements, especially in the field of configuring a new control system by “virtual commissioning”, enabling the validation of the developed controls, program verification, and analysis of the machining process and monitoring. The considered wood computer numerical control (CNC) machining system is supported by an equivalent virtual machine in a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) environment, as well as in the control system, as a digital twin. The configured virtual machines are used for the verification of the machining program and programming system via machining simulation, which is extremely important in multi-axis machining. Several test wood workpieces were machined to validate the effectiveness of the developed control system based on LinuxCNC.

Abstract:
Abstract Simulation and optimization techniques are the pillars of for the Virtual Commissioning of modern digital factories. In particular, industrial production lines are complex systems formed by a set of machines that have several cross-dependencies (i. e., the production efficiency of a machine impact deeply performance figures of the others and affects the whole line productivity). The simulation and optimization of production lines is an integrated approach that allows finding efficiently optimized production parameters. This paper presents an example of application of the simulation to the virtual design and optimization of an industrial production line.
