Denna studies syfte är att skapa förståelse för hur konsumenter upplever användandet av digitala produktkataloger och vad för typ av värde de ger dem. För att undersöka detta skedde en observation i kombination med intervju av tio respondenter i åldrarna 21–72 år. Respondenterna fick söka upp en av tre i förväg utvalda digitala kataloger inom kategorin sällanköpsvaror för att sedan beskriva sin upplevelse. Uppsatsförfattarna arbetade efter en intervjuguide i samband med intervjuerna som tog 15–20 minuter var. Resultatet visar att de flesta upplever någon typ av svårighet i användandet av de digitala katalogerna och fick de välja föredrog endast en av de tio respondenterna en digital katalog framför en fysisk. Dessutom hade endast tre av tio varit i kontakt med en digital katalog tidigare jämfört med den fysiska upplagan som alla någon gång hade använt. Utifrån detta resultat ser det ut som att digitaliseringen av produktkataloger tycks ha minskat användandet och konsumenterna kommer inte längre i kontakt med produktkataloger i samma utsträckning när de presenteras på digitala plattformar. Dessutom visar resultatet att de allra flesta respondenter menar att värdet de får ut av de digitala produktkatalogerna är inspiration, oavsett om de under observationen valde en katalog mer baserad på presentation av sortiment än med ett inspirerande upplägg. Oavsett upplevelse och upplevt värde föredrar dock de flesta att söka upp produkter direkt i företags webbutiker i stället för att använda digitala produktkataloger.
The purpose of this study is to create an understanding of how consumers experience the use of digital product catalogs and what kind of value they give them. To investigate this, an observation was made in combination with an interview of ten respondents aged 21–72. The respondents had to find and use one of three pre-selected digital catalogs in the category of rare goods and then describe their user experience. The researchers worked on an interview guide in connection with the interviews, which took 15–20 minutes each. The results show that most respondents experience some type of difficulty in the use of the digital catalogs and when they were given the choice, only one out of ten preferred a digital catalog over a physical one. In addition, only three of the ten respondents had been in contact with a digital catalog before compared to the physical edition that everyone had used before. Based on this result, it appears that the digitization of product catalogs seems to have reduced its use and consumers no longer come into contact with product catalogs to the same extent when they are presented on digital platforms. The result also shows that most of the respondents believe that the value they get from digital product catalogs is inspiration, regardless of whether they chose a catalog during the observation more based on presentation of assortment than with an inspiring approach. It appeared however, that even with a good experience and the inspirational value most people prefer to search for products directly in companies' online stores instead of using digital product catalogs.

Abstract:
We present the Data Release 12 Quasar catalog (DR12Q) from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III. This catalog includes all SDSS-III /BOSS objects that were spectroscopically targeted as quasar candidates during the full survey and that are confirmed as quasars via visual inspection of the spectra, have luminosities Mi[z = 2] < -20.5 (in a Lambda CDM cosmology with H-0 = 70 km s (1) Mpc (1), Omega(M) = 0 : 3, and Omega(A) = 0.7), and either display at least one emission line with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) larger than 500 km s (1) or, if not, have interesting /complex absorption features. The catalog also includes previously known quasars (mostly from SDSS-I and II) that were reobserved by BOSS. The catalog contains 297 301 quasars (272 026 are new discoveries since the beginning of SDSSIII) detected over 9376 deg(2) with robust identification and redshift measured by a combination of principal component eigenspectra. The number of quasars with z > 2.15 (184 101, of which 167 742 are new discoveries) is about an order of magnitude greater than the number of z > 2 : 15 quasars known prior to BOSS. Redshifts and FWHMs are provided for the strongest emission lines (C iv, C III], Mg II). The catalog identifies 29 580 broad absorption line quasars and lists their characteristics. For each object, the catalog presents five-band (u, g, r, i, z) CCD-based photometry with typical accuracy of 0.03 mag together with some information on the optical morphology and the selection criteria. When available, the catalog also provides information on the optical variability of quasars using SDSS and Palomar Transient Factory multi-epoch photometry. The catalog also contains X-ray, ultraviolet, near-infrared, and radio emission properties of the quasars, when available, from other large-area surveys. The calibrated digital spectra, covering the wavelength region 3600-10 500 a at a spectral resolution in the range 1300 < R < 2500, can be retrieved from the SDSS Catalog Archive Server. We also provide a supplemental list of an additional 4841 quasars that have been identified serendipitously outside of the superset defined to derive the main quasar catalog.

Abstract:
A catalog of 8472 white dwarf (WD) candidates is presented, selected using reduced proper motions from the deep proper motion catalog of Munn et al. Candidates are selected in the magnitude range 16 < r < 21.5 over 980 square degrees, and 16 < r < 21.3 over an additional 1276 square degrees, within the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) imaging footprint. Distances, bolometric luminosities, and atmospheric compositions are derived by fitting SDSS ugriz photometry to pure hydrogen and helium model atmospheres (assuming surface gravities log g = 8). The disk white dwarf luminosity function (WDLF) is constructed using a sample of 2839 stars with 5.5 < M-bol < 17, with statistically significant numbers of stars cooler than the turnover in the luminosity function. The WDLF for the halo is also constructed, using a sample of 135 halo WDs with 5 < M-bol < 16. We find space densities of disk and halo WDs in the solar neighborhood of 5.5 +/- 0.1 x 10(-3) pc(-3) and 3.5 +/- 0.7 x 10(-5) pc(-3), respectively. We resolve the bump in the disk WDLF due to the onset of fully convective envelopes in WDs, and see indications of it in the halo WDLF as well.

Abstract:
There is a great need for digital libraries that are flexible, scalable, and reliable. Few such systems exist. Little is known about how to build them. This thesis addresses these problems by enhancing a prototype digital library system with the aim of making it more flexible, scalable, and reliable. We hypothesize that: 1) adding a new (user information) layer and maintaining weak coupling in the design of a digital library system can help achieve system flexibility; 2) optimizing network connection usage and facilitating distribution of computation and disk operations in system design can help achieve system scalability; and 3) applying good software processes can help university students produce a very reliable system. Approaches based on the above hypothesis were used in the project of Reengineering the MARIAN System in Java. The results of the project and experiments verified the correctness of the hypothesis. The results of this thesis may help inform future digital library design and implementation projects to produce flexible, scalable, and reliable systems.

The paper discusses conceptual matters and implementation practices for authority information for musical works in the German authority file (GND). Options of re-use of the authority data in libraries as well as in musicological contexts are introduced. Challenges of theoretical concepts as well as practical realization are shown and potentials of information included in authority files are demonstrated.

Comment les concepteurs imaginent-ils ces modélisations de pratiques et comment celles-ci s’actualisent-elles de diverses manières dans une situation de réception précise en fonction des attentes des lecteurs ? Il n’existe pas encore de travaux sur le livre numérique enrichi confrontant les pratiques réelles ou imaginées de communautés de producteurs et de récepteurs aux pratiques modélisées par l’artefact, ses formes graphiques, ses signes alphabétiques et ses relations rhétoriques entre pages-écrans. Cette thèse retrace la genèse d’une méthodologie d’analyse socio-sémiotique, alliant en profondeur l’étude empirique des contextes de production et de réception du livre numérique enrichi avec l’analyse des stratégies sémiotiques et rhétoriques de ses interfaces. How will an exhibition catalog or a fictional story, enhanced for digital tablets, translate the visitor’s reading habits and expectations into pages-screens? How do the e-books’ designers understand and conceive these reading practices? How will concrete readers’ expectations meet the implicit reader of the text? This thesis is based on a social semiotic methodology, deeply intertwining the empirical study of the current e-books creative and consumption practices with a methodical analysis of the semiotic and rhetorical strategies of their editorial interfaces. Empirically merging semiotic, sociological and economical research, we bring to light a new original vocabulary of “reading features” of enhanced e-books. Combining it with the designers’ practices, this vocabulary exhibits the role played by usages and social standards in semiosis. It is also enriched with a reception study on a specific artifact

Digitalisierung generiert ‚hybride‘ Objekte, die zwar als digitale Datei lesbar und manipulierbar sind, das zugrundeliegende kulturhistorische Objekt jedoch weiterhin ‚enthalten‘. Eine Bibliothek, die Objekte aus ihren Beständen digitalisiert, begründet also eigentlich keine sog. digitale Bibliothek, sondern eine hybride Bibliothek. Im Falle musikalischer Überlieferung ist die Sachlage aufgrund der medienhistorischen Komplexität musikalischer Artefakte besonders unübersichtlich. Verschärft wird die heutige Situation noch durch die Erzeugnisse der Digital Humanities, die keineswegs bloß ‚Informationen‘ sind, sondern ihrerseits komplexe und in der Regel hybride Textgebilde, die häufig komplette digitalisierte Re-Publikationen von Kulturobjekten einbinden, die digital ‚beschriftet‘ und vernetzt werden. Das digitale ‚Dickicht‘ erfordert einen gleichsam genetischen und relationalen Katalog, in dem die konkreten kulturhistorischen Objekte in ihren konkreten Sammlungskontexten – also als Unikate – Ankerfunktion haben.
Digitization produces ‚hybrid‘ objects that are readable as digital data files but at the same time still ‚contain‘ the original cultural-historical object. In this perspective, ‚digital collections‘, ‚digital libraries‘, etc. are in fact hybrid collections, or libraries. For musical artefacts, the range of historical media is especially complex, which again concerns the digital world. Digital Humanities publications also contribute to the complex and confusing situation as they themselves are not only ‚information‘, but as a rule, complex and hybrid textual systems that often contain complete digitized re-publications of cultural objects, providing them with digital ‚inscriptions‘, and interlinking them. So the hybridity of ‚digital libraries‘ increases as soon as Digital Humanities publications are integrated. Therefore, metadata should mirror precisely the hybrid nature of the digitized/digital objects catalogued.

Abstract:
The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) began observations in 2014 July. It pursues three core programs: the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2), Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA), and the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS). As well as its core program, eBOSS contains two major subprograms: the Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey (TDSS) and the SPectroscopic IDentification of ERosita Sources (SPIDERS). This paper describes the first data release from SDSS-IV, Data Release 13 (DR13). DR13 makes publicly available the first 1390 spatially resolved integral field unit observations of nearby galaxies from MaNGA. It includes new observations from eBOSS, completing the Sloan Extended QUasar, Emission-line galaxy, Luminous red galaxy Survey (SEQUELS), which also targeted variability-selected objects and X-ray-selected objects. DR13 includes new reductions of the SDSS-III BOSS data, improving the spectrophotometric calibration and redshift classification, and new reductions of the SDSS-III APOGEE-1 data, improving stellar parameters for dwarf stars and cooler stars. DR13 provides more robust and precise photometric calibrations. Value-added target catalogs relevant for eBOSS, TDSS, and SPIDERS and an updated red-clump catalog for APOGEE are also available. This paper describes the location and format of the data and provides references to important technical papers. The SDSS web site, http://www.sdss.org, provides links to the data, tutorials, examples of data access, and extensive documentation of the reduction and analysis procedures. DR13 is the first of a scheduled set that will contain new data and analyses from the planned similar to 6 yr operations of SDSS-IV.

Social organizations over the years have contributed to soften the social problems in which the state alone is not able to solve them. But in order for them to work and effectively promote changes in the lives of those most in need, it is necessary to seek the resources and manage them in the best possible way. For this, the use of management tools can contribute to the administration of these organizations to overcome the challenges that require more and more professionalization. In this way, the objective of the work was to carry out a case study to verify if the business plan can help the management of a social organization in order to guarantee its sustainability. For that, the Infocenter and Digital Culture of Catalão Association (ASSINCAT) was selected, which through public policy obtained the financial resources and implemented an infocenter to promote digital inclusion in the community. According to this study, ASSINCAT is an organization whose strengths are highly qualified people, the partnership of UFG-RC, a vast field to act, but that depends on the public policies for its operation. It offers basic computer courses aiming at the qualification of labor for the labor market, arousing the interest of children, young and old to know and interact with the digital world in which many are excluded. By 2016, there were 58 courses taught and 178 students graduating. A study on the organization was elaborated regarding its operation through consultation of the documents and records of ASSINCAT. Two questionnaires were also developed and applied, one for the students and another for the teachers to know the profile, the use of the technologies and the perception of the physical, digital, human and social resources of ASSINCAT. A total of 44 completed forms were obtained from the students and 14 from the teachers, from which the results contributed to the preparation of the business plan. The results demonstrated students' satisfaction in having learned how to handle the computer and perform activities they once did not. It was also possible to verify the teachers' satisfaction of having contributed to the evolution of their students. Through the proposed business plan it was possible to verify that ASSINCAT is a viable organization and has acted with effectiveness in the digital inclusion of its user’s actions what actions are necessary to make the offered service even better and more efficient. Suggested strategies along with suggested improvements if followed will help guide your management further in improving your performance and taking advantage of opportunities so that it can continue to work and allow more people to dig into the digital universe and to transform their lives economically and socially.
As organizações sociais ao longo dos anos contribuíram para amenizar os problemas sociais em que o Estado sozinho não é capaz de solucioná-los. Mas para que elas consigam funcionar e, efetivamente, promover mudanças na vida dos mais necessitados, é necessário buscar os recursos e geri-los da melhor forma possível. Para isso, a utilização de ferramentas de gestão pode contribuir para que a administração dessas organizações supere os desafios que exigem cada vez mais profissionalização. Desta forma, o objetivo do trabalho foi realizar um estudo de caso para verificar se o plano de negócio pode auxiliar a gestão de uma organização social a fim de garantir a sua sustentabilidade. Para isso, foi selecionada a Associação Infocentro e Cultura Digital de Catalão (ASSINCAT), que através de uma política pública obteve os recursos financeiros e implantou um infocentro para promover a inclusão digital na comunidade. De acordo com este estudo, a ASSINCAT é uma organização que tem por pontos fortes pessoas altamente qualificadas, a parceria da UFG-RC, um vasto campo para atuar, mas que depende das políticas públicas para o seu funcionamento. Ela oferece cursos básicos de informática visando à qualificação de mão-de-obra para o mercado de trabalho, despertar o interesse das crianças, jovens e idosos para conhecer e interagir com o mundo digital em que muitos estão excluídos. Até 2016, foram 58 cursos ministrados e tiveram 178 alunos concluintes. Foi elaborado um estudo sobre a organização no que tange o seu funcionamento através de consulta aos documentos e registros da ASSINCAT. Também foram elaborados e aplicados dois questionários, um para os alunos e outro aos professores para conhecer o perfil, a utilização das tecnologias e a percepção quanto aos recursos físicos, digitais, humanos e sociais da ASSINCAT. Foram obtidos 44 formulários respondidos dos alunos e 14 dos professores, dos quais os resultados contribuíram para a elaboração do plano de negócio. Os resultados demonstraram a satisfação dos alunos em ter aprendido a manusear o computador e realizar atividades que outrora não conseguiam. Foi possível também verificar a satisfação dos professores de ter contribuído para a evolução dos seus alunos. Através do plano de negócio proposto foi possível verificar que a ASSINCAT é uma organização viável e atuou com efetividade em prol da inclusão digital dos seus usuários ações quais ações são necessárias para tornar o serviço oferecido ainda melhor e mais eficiente. Estratégias sugeridas, juntamente com as sugestões de melhorias se assim forem seguidas, contribuirão para nortear a sua gestão no aperfeiçoamento ainda mais de sua atuação e no aproveitamento das oportunidades para que possa continuar a funcionando e permitindo que mais pessoas possam adentar no universo digital e com isso transformar economicamente e socialmente as suas vidas.

Abstract:
As the artwork’s title suggests, Penelope Umbrico’s "Mirrors (from Home Décor Catalogs and Websites)" (2001-2011), are photographs of mirrors that Umbrico has appropriated from print and web based home décor advertisements like those from Pottery Barn or West Elm. The mirrors in these advertisements reflect the photo shoot constructed for the ad, often showing plants or light filled windows empty of people. To print the "Mirrors," Umbrico first applies a layer of white-out to everything in the advertisement except for the mirror and then scans the home décor catalog. In the case of the web-based portion of the series, she removes the advertising space digitally through photo editing software. Once the mirror has been singled out and made digital, Umbrico then adjusts the perspective of the mirror so that it faces the viewer. Finally, she scales the photograph of the mirror cut from the advertisement to the size and shape of the actual mirror for sale. By enlarging the photograph, she must increase the file size and subsequent print significantly, which distorts the final printed image thereby causing pixelation, otherwise known as “compression artifacts.” Lastly, she mounts these pixelated prints to non-glare Plexiglas both to remove any incidental reflective surface effects and to create a physical object. What hangs on the wall, then, looks like a mirror in its shape, size and beveled frame: the photograph becomes a one-to-one representation of the object it portrays. When looking at a real mirror, often the viewer is aware of either a reflection of the self or a shifting reflection caused by his or her own movement. However, the image that the "Mirror" ‘reflects’ is not the changing reflection of a real mirror. Nor is it a clear, fixed image of the surface of a mirror. Instead the "Mirrors" present a highly abstract, pixelated surface to meet our eyes. The "Mirrors" are physical objects that merge two forms of representation into one: the mirror and the photograph, thus highlighting similarities between them as surfaces that can potentially represent or reflect almost anything. However, in their physical form, they show us only their pixelation, their digitally constructed nature. Penelope Umbrico’s "Mirrors" are photographs of mirrors that become simultaneously photograph and mirror: the image reflected on the mirror’s surface becomes a photograph, thus showing an analogy between the two objects. In their self-reflexive nature, I argue that Umbrico’s "Mirrors" point to their status as digital photographs, therefore signaling a technological shift from analog to digital photography. Umbrico’s "Mirrors," in altering both mirrors and photographs simultaneously refer to the long history of photography in relation to mirrors. The history of photography is seen first through these objects by the reflective surface of the daguerreotype which mirrored the viewer when observing the daguerreotype, and because of the extremely high level of detail in the photographic image, which mirrored the photographic subject. The relation to the history of photography is also seen in the phenomenon of the mirror within a photograph and the idea that the mirror’s reflection shows the realistic way that photographs represent reality. Craig Owens calls this "en abyme," or the miniature reproduction of a text that represents the text as a whole. In the case of the mirror, this is because the mirror within the photograph shows how both mediums display highly naturalistic depictions of reality. I contend that as an object that is representative of the photographic medium itself, the shift from analog to digital photography is in part seen through the use of the mirror that ultimately creates an absent referent as understood through a comparison of Diego Velázquez’s "Las Meninas" (1656). As Foucault suggests that "Las Meninas" signals a shift in representation from the Classical age to the Modern period, I suggest that the "Mirrors" signal the shift in representation from analog to digital. This latter shift spurred debate among photo history scholars related to the ontology of the photographic medium as scholars were anxious that the ease of editing digital images compromised the photograph’s seeming relationship to truth or reality and that it would be impossible to know whether an image had been altered. They were also concerned with the idea that computers could generate images from nothing but code, removing the direct relationship of the photograph to its subject and thereby declaring the “death” of the medium. The "Mirrors" embody the technological phenomenon with visual addition of “compression artifacts,” otherwise known as pixelation, where this representation of digital space appears not directly from our own creation but as a by-product of digital JPEG programming. In this way they are no longer connected to the subject but only to the digital space they represent. As self-reflexive objects, the "Mirrors" show that there has been a technological transformation from the physically made analog photograph to the inherently mutable digital file.

El periodisme digital s'ha desenvolupat en ritmes i direccions diverses, prenent formes concretes en cada projecte de mitjà digital. La recerca empírica en aquest camp ha evidenciat que les principals tendències han estat, en moltes ocasions, lluny de les utopies imaginades durant els anys 90. Encara estem inventant el periodisme digital. Aquesta tesi doctoral presenta un estudi comparatiu de les rutines de treball i valors professionals de quatre redaccions digitals catalanes i traça els factors organitzatius, culturals i materials que han condicionat la definició i ús d'hipertext, multimèdia i interactivitat -les característiques d'Internet que prometien una revolució al periodisme.
La recerca analitza les similituds i divergències en el model de periodisme digital de diferents tradicions de mitjans de comunicació: un diari imprès d'un gran grup de comunicació (El Periódico), un mitjà audiovisual públic (CCRTV), un diari local (Diari de Tarragona) i un portal de notícies purament digital amb finançament públic (laMalla.net). La metodologia emprada inclou l'observació del treball dels periodistes a la redacció i entrevistes en profunditat, per tal de conèixer en profunditat el context i l'evolució de cada cas, amb una interpretació teòrica basada en una aproximació constructivista a l'adopció social de noves tecnologies.
Els resultats de la recerca més destacats són: la immediatesa és el valor principal en tres de les redaccions digitals, les vinculades a mitjans tradicionals; la resta de les utopies del periodisme digital són redefinides per aquesta decisió; els teletips són la font principal -i gairebé única- de la major part de les notícies produïdes pels mitjans digitals amb lligams tradicionals; l'escassedat de recursos humans i la cultura de la immediatesa dissuadeixen els periodistes digitals de sortir al carrer o contactar fonts de primera mà, sobretot en les redaccions digitals de mitjans tradicionals; els periodistes digitals d'aquestes redaccions tendeixen a infravalorar el seu treball respecte al dels seus companys de la premsa, ràdio o televisió; el projecte purament digital supera els riscos per a la qualitat del producte que implica el model de la immediatesa gràcies a una estratègia d'especialització: cada periodista té una xarxa de fonts originals, més temps per treballar cada peça i més sensibilitat per explorar les utopies.
L'autor sosté que calen més estudis comparatius, de caràcter internacional, de l'estructura organitzativa i les condicions materials del treball en les redaccions digitals, per tal d'oferir a les empreses de mitjans de comunicació un punt de partida realista per obrir una nova etapa en la encara inacabada invenció d'Internet com a mitjà de comunicació periodística.
Online journalism has developed in several directions and rhythms, taking different shapes in different online news projects. Scholars have offered empirical evident that these directions are, in many occasions, far from the utopias envisioned in the 90s. We are still inventing online journalism. A comparative research focused on four case studies of Catalan online newsrooms traces the material and organizational constrains in the definition and use of hypertext, multimedia and interactivity -those hyped Internet features- by online journalists.
Professional routines and values of the four online newsrooms are analyzed, with the aim of finding the similarities and divergences among different media traditions: a national newspaper (El Periódico), a public broadcasting corporation (CCRTV), a local newspaper (Diari de Tarragona) and a public-funded news portal (laMalla.net). Observation of the journalists at work and in-depth interviews provide a close look at the context and development of each case, interpreted with a constructivist approach to the social adoption of new technologies.
Some of the findings of the study include: immediacy is the main value in three of the online newsrooms; the rest of the online journalism utopias are shaped by this decision; news wires are the main -and almost only- source for most of online news; small sized staffs and the culture of immediacy discourage online journalists from going out or contacting first-hand sources, specially in traditional media online newsrooms; online journalists in traditional media environments tend to downgrade the value of their work in regard to their offline mates; the online-only project overcomes some of the problems with a specialization strategy, having each journalist focused on particular topics, and they are more sensitive to explore utopias.
The author argues that more comparative studies at an international level on the organizational and material structure of online newsrooms are needed to offer media companies a realistic stand point to continue the invention of the internet as a news medium.

In the Catalan public health system, the provision of services through the use of digital health tools has gone hand in hand with the increasing digitalization of society as a whole. Since these services are often implemented on an experimental basis in a search for innovation, and in the absence of a rule governing the adoption of public policies, they may be exempt from a comprehensive analysis of their pros and cons (an economic evaluation). However, digitalization involves the generation of objective evidence: information stored in databases which can be analysed. There has never been so much information of such good quality. As a result, this dissertation aims to evaluate digital health interventions undertaken by the public health system of Catalonia to analyse evidence regarding its efficiency. The compendium of articles, the main part of this document, consists of the evaluation of three interventions (interconsultation, teleconsultation and telemonitoring). It is concluded that certain digital health tools appear to be cost-effective, and it is recommended that they be supported and promoted; others require further evaluation before a decision can be taken as to whether they ought to be included in the provision of public services.
Al sistema públic de salut de Catalunya, la provisió de serveis mitjançant eines de salut digital ha anat en paral·lel a la creixent digitalització de l’àmbit personal dels ciutadans. En la mesura que aquests sovint s’implementen amb una voluntat experimental i des de l’òptica de la innovació, i en absència d’una regla d’adopció de polítiques públiques, poden quedar exempts de l’anàlisi integral dels seus pros i contres (l’avaluació econòmica). La digitalització, però, implica la generació d’una evidència objectiva: informació que queda inevitablement emmagatzemada en bases de dades susceptibles de ser analitzades. Mai hi havia hagut tanta i tan bona informació. En aquest context, aquesta tesi té com a objectiu avaluar intervencions de salut digital promogudes pel sistema públic de salut de Catalunya per aportar evidències respecte de la seva eficiència. El compendi d’articles, nucli d’aquest document, es conforma de l’avaluació de tres intervencions (interconsulta, teleconsulta i telemonitorització). Es conclou que algunes eines de salut digital semblen provar ser cost-efectives i es recomana defensar-les i promoure-les; d’altres s’hauran de seguir avaluant per incorporar-les o no en la prestació de serveis públics d’acord amb els seus resultats.

Introduction. Studies have been conducted on serendipitous encounters in the physical library environment. In this study, we aimed instead to look at features in the online library catalog that can lead to serendipitous en-counters. The aim was also to see if libraries took active steps to promote serendipity in their online library cata-logs. Method. A heuristic evaluation of four online library catalogs was conducted. The set of heuristics used was based on previous research, with the aim of identifying facets of a serendipitous environment. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with librarians from three of the researched libraries. The results from the heuristic evaluation and the transcripts of the interviews formed the data for the analysis. Analysis. Thematic analyses were carried out on the data. The data from the heuristic evaluation and the interviews were analyzed and presented separately, leading up to a joint summary. Results. Most of the online library catalogs had features like "Similar items" and book recommendations, which can lead to serendipitous encounters. Librarians often experience a lack of influence over their online library catalogs. Librarians identified problems such as patrons expecting their online library catalog to function more like a web search engine, for example, Google Search. Conclusion. The online library catalogs have features that promote serendipitous encounters but we identified problems in how they are best designed. Using an integrated interface for the online library catalog and the library's website was one way to give the librarians more influence over their interface, which increased their likelihood to provide it with more information and content. We suggest further research with an extensive approach of serendi-pitous encounters not only in the online library catalog but also in other digital library environments such as web-sites, social media, blogs and apps. This is a two years master’s thesis in Library and Information Science.

Sedan digitala bibliotekskataloger först introducerades i slutet av 60-talet och början av 70-talet har det funnits två skilda källor för metadata för bibliotek i Sverige. Å ena sidan Libris, utvecklad och använd av framför allt KB och forskningsbiblioteken, och å andra sidan Burk för folkbiblioteken. Nästan lika länge har det gjorts försök att skapa en gemensam, nationell katalog för alla svenska bibliotek, men trots alla ansträngningar, innefattande ett flertal direkt från regeringen, råder fortfarande det tvådelade systemet. Denna intervjustudie har till syfte att undersöka attityder hos anställda från olika delar av bibliotekssektorn i denna fråga. Även frågor om bibliotekssystem diskuteras. Det förefaller finnas stor enighet bland informanterna om att den bristande samordningen av katalogdata faktiskt är ett problem, men det råder delade meningar om vad som borde göras åt saken, och vem som borde göra det. Studien analyseras och sätts i ett sammanhang utifrån debatten om digital upphovsrätt i allmänhet och Tarleton Gillespies teorier i synnerhet. Slutsatser som dras är att samordning skulle underlättas om biblioteken använde sig av öppna data och öppen källkod, vilket skulle peka på Libris som källa för metadata och open source-bibliotekssystem som Koha. De bibliotek som har samordningsuppdrag, regionbiblioteken och KB, skulle behöva ta ett större ansvar för att samordning ska kunna komma till stånd. Om dessa förslag blev verklighet skulle leverantörerna behöva anpassa sina affärsmodeller för att kunna erbjuda data under öppna licenser.
Ever since digital library catalogues were first introduced in the late sixties and early seventies, there have been two separate metadata repositories for libraries in Sweden. On the one hand there is the Libris catalogue, developed and used mainly by the national library and the university libraries, and on the other hand there is the Burk catalogue for the local public libraries. For almost as long, attempts have been made to create a single, national catalogue for all Swedish libraries, but despite all efforts, including several government bills explicitly stating that this need to happen, the dual catalogue system prevails to this day. This interview study aims to find the opinions of people from different sectors of the library field on this matter. Views on integrated library systems are also debated. There seems to be great consensus among the interviewees that there is, in fact, a problem with lack of coordination of catalogues, but there is less agreement as to what should be done about it, and by whom. The study is analyzed and contextualized utilizing the debate on digital copyright in general and the theories of Tarleton Gillespie in particular. It is concluded that cooperation would be facilitated if libraries made use of open data and open source, which would suggest Libris as metadata repository and open source library systems such as Koha for ILS. Libraries assigned with interlibrary coordination, i.e. the regional and the national libraries, would have to take on a greater responsibility than the local libraries to implement these cooperations. Vendors serving libraries would have to adjust their business models if these proposals were to become reality to offer data under open licenses.

Villa Adriana presenta un ampio spettro di possibili casi studio finalizzati ad approfondire il tema della documentazione e della catalogazione dei Beni Culturali. La diffusione della rete Internet ha oggi determinato la necessità di gestire le informazioni in forma distribuita. Nel settore dei B.C., per anni le informazioni relative agli stessi venivano riassunte in schede, “beni schedati” per l’appunto, in modo da facilitarne la consultabilità e l’organizzazione manuale. Nel primo periodo della informatizzazione il processo è stato perfettamente uguale: schede, unità di misura e campi rimasero gli stessi, ma digitalizzati. È chiaro che oggi un sistema del genere appare poco appropriato rispetto alle proprietà dei sistemi digitali, per consentirne lo studio e/o la fruizione. Quindi è nata l’esigenza di migliorare la gestione dei dati raccolti e aggiornare la scheda tenendo conto dell’esperienza sia di coloro che lavorano nel campo della catalogazione dei beni culturali sia di coloro che operano nelle Soprintendenze e nelle Università. Tutto ciò ha spinto il Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali a pensare una soluzione al fine di creare un processo evolutivo dei cittadini. L’“innovazione tecnologica”, oltre ad essere un’implementazione di una nuova regola organizzativa, miglio9ra il supporto alla salvaguardia dei beni artistici e archeologici, mettendo a disposizione dei tecnici delle soprintendenze e delle forze dell’ordine strumenti che semplificano l’attività nella tutela del patrimonio culturale. È innegabile il fatto che oggi i nuovi “media” siano il fulcro di un “movimento” verso i modelli rinnovati di comunicazione della conoscenza che offrono le forme più rapide e immediate dell’offerta culturale. Il sistema informativo permette di incrociare le informazioni di carattere tecnico con i dati relativi alla conoscenza del bene e alla sua storia, mettendoli in relazione alla specifica area a cui si riferiscono.

El aumento del uso de internet en educación superior plantea una serie de retos para conseguir que esta tecnología contribuya, de una forma óptima, a la mejora del aprendizaje de los estudiantes. La teoría económica de la producción educativa destaca la importancia de incorporar internet como input productivo de la forma más eficaz y eficiente. La teoría sociológica de la brecha digital destaca la importancia de incorporarlo de forma que no excluya a ningún colectivo de alumnos. Partiendo de estas dos perspectivas, esta tesis tiene como objetivo principal identificar elementos llevan a una incorporación eficaz y no excluyente de internet en educación superior. Este objetivo general se ha dividido en 4 sub-objetivos: - Comparar la eficacia del uso de internet en educación para el aprendizaje interactivo con la del uso de internet en educación para el aprendizaje individual. - Estudiar la variación de los beneficios del uso de internet para la interacción en el aprendizaje según el grado de intensidad de dicha interacción. - Estudiar los efectos diferenciados del uso de internet para la interacción en el aprendizaje. - Estudiar cuáles son los determinantes del uso de internet para la interacción en el aprendizaje. Para cumplir con los objetivos se han utilizado datos de una muestra de algo más de 17.000 alumnos de tres universidades catalanas (una virtual y dos presenciales). Para ello, se han utilizado técnicas de reducción de la información para preparar las variables y, en la parte más analítica, se han estimado modelos de regresión, corrigiendo el sesgo de selección y la correlación intra-clase. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que: - Utilizar internet para llevar a cabo un aprendizaje interactivo es eficaz a la hora de mejorar el rendimiento académico. Sin embargo, utilizarlo para un aprendizaje expositivo no tiene ningún impacto en los resultados académicos. - La productividad de la interacción online en el aprendizaje sigue pautas diferentes en la universidad online y en la presencial. En la primera sigue la primera la ley de rendimientos decrecientes mientras que en la segunda no, debido a una fase inicial de adaptación al medio. - Existen condicionantes del éxito del uso de internet para interactuar en el aprendizaje. Entre ellos destaca el elemento organizativo y las habilidades de uso de los estudiantes. - Pese a ser detectado como un uso positivo para mejorar el rendimiento académico, no todos los alumnos utilizan internet para la interacción con la misma intensidad. La utilidad es una variable explicativa del uso, pero más allá de ésta existen otras variables como la motivación por la que se estudia, los usos previos de internet fuera del contexto educativo o características sociodemográficas que dibujan el mapa de causas de la desigualdad de uso existente. En la tesis se discuten las implicaciones que estos resultados tienen para las políticas educativas y se proponen estrategias para incorporar internet en educación de una manera eficaz e igualitaria.
The wide incorporation of the Internet in higher education institutions raises some challenges about best uses of this technology. The economic theory of educational production highlights the importance of incorporating the Internet as a productive input, in the most effective and efficient way. The sociological theory of the digital divide highlights the importance of incorporating it in a non-exclusive way. Based in these two perspectives the main objective of this thesis is to identify elements that lead to an inclusive and effective incorporation of the Internet in higher education. This objective can be divided into four sub-objectives: • Compare the effectiveness of Internet use in education for interactive learning with the effectiveness of internet use in education for individual learning. • Study the variation of the benefits of using Internet for interactive learning according to the intensity of this interaction. • Study the different effects and the conditions that can enhance the benefits of Internet use for interactive learning. • Study the determinants of Internet use for interactive learning. To achieve this goal we have used data from a sample of over 17,000 students from three Catalan universities (one online and two). In order to analyze the data information reduction techniques have been used to prepare the variables and, in the analytical part, we have estimated regression models, correcting for selection bias and intra-class correlation. The results show: • The use of Internet to conduct interactive learning is an effective way to improve the academic performance. However, using it to conduct expository learning has no impact on academic outcomes. • The productivity of online interaction follows different patterns comparing online and face-to-face universities. In the first case the productivity is consistent with the diminishing returns law, while in the second case it is not true, due to an initial phase of adaptation to this internet use. • There are conditions for the success of using the Internet to interact in learning. These include the organizational elements and the student’s technological skills. • Despite being detected as a positive use to improve academic performance, not all students use the Internet for interactive learning with the same intensity. The utility is an explanatory variable of the variation of use but, beyond this, there are other variables (such as the motivation for the courses studied, the previous uses of the Internet, in a non-educational context, and some socio-demographic characteristics) that draw the map of causes of the inequality in the intensity of use. The thesis discusses the implications of these findings for educational policy and proposes some strategies to incorporate the Internet in an efficient and equal education.

Le catalogue occupe une place privilégiée dans l'offre de service des bibliothèques universitaires, pivot de l'intermédiation. Depuis 10 ans, il traverse une crise grave, voyant les usagers le délaisser à la faveur des moteurs de recherche généralistes. Le web, plus qu'un sérieux concurrent, devance aujourd'hui les systèmes d'information documentaires, et devient le point d'entrée principal pour la recherche d'information. Les bibliothèques tentent de structurer un espace documentaire qui soit habité par les usagers, au sein duquel se développe l'offre de service, mais celle-ci se présente encore comme une série de silos inertes, sans grande possibilité de navigation, malgré de considérables efforts d'ingénierie et des pistes d'évolution vers les outils de découverte. La profession, consciente de cette crise profonde, après avoir accusé les remous occasionnés par la dimension disruptive du numérique, cherche des moyens pour adapter et diversifier son offre, fluidifier la diffusion de l'information, et se réinvente un rôle d'intermédiation en cherchant à tirer profit des nouvelles pratiques des usagers, de leurs nouvelles attentes, et de nouvelles perspectives. Les bibliothèques placent leur espoir dans de nouveaux modèles de données, tentent d'y ajouter un niveau d'abstraction favorisant les liaisons avec l'univers de la connaissance. L'évolution vers le web sémantique semble une opportunité à saisir pour valoriser les collections et les rendre exploitables dans un autre contexte, au prix d'importants efforts que cette analyse tente de mesurer. Une approche constructiviste fondée sur l'observation participante et le recueil de données offre une vision issue de l'intérieur de la communauté des bibliothèques sur l'évolution des catalogues et des outils d'intermédiation, et ouvre des perspectives sur leurs enjeux.

The purpose of this study is to bring up some suggestions on the future development of the next interface of Union Catalog Program. Through the understanding of the development history and the present condition of Digital Archive in Taiwan and aboard; investigating the user experiences, satisfaction degree and suggestions on using the Union Catalogs Program. For data collection and analysis, research methods applied in this study include literature analysis and Questionnaire survey. Out of 350, the total of 224 completed questionnaires was received. The satisfaction degree, about 80 percent of users are satisfied with each function and introduction of Union Catalog Program. “Thematic Browse” & “Featured Collection” are the most popular browse functions of the seven major functions, which got well reputations. Users are less satisfied with “Temporal Interval Search” and “Spatial Extent Brows”. The “Content, interface and system operation”, and “Convenience of interface operations” left room for future improvement. According to the survey results, several concrete suggestions on the future improvement of the system are brought up, which are categorized into four dimensions as follows: 1. Program Promotion: Enhance the promotion and marketing work of Union Catalog Program to increase its visibility and click-through rate. 2. System Function: Continuously enhance the user-friendly functions, add assistant functions like “Font size control”, “Synonym inquiry” and “Search images by images”, and develop interactive or wiki-like functions. 3. Data quality: Develop data quality control standards to avoid the fragmentary, provide complete collection of data; integrate the collection into digital learning, transform the digital collections to teaching material for teachers’s usage. 4. Site Structure: Create different browse interfaces for different users; provide complete authorized information and a good guide for user.

Abstract:
A museum catalog is a legible, interpretable information system that acts as a rhetorical exposition of the museum’s collection and work. The unity of a collection is of course distinct from that represented in a catalog, and still further from the reader’s experience of it. But the information that comprises such an assemblage of individual records or representations, consistent metadata, support the ability to “read” collections as finite, enclosed, or complete. Here I perform a close reading of the elements and relationships that underpin the Walker Art Center’s online Permanent Collection catalog, an emergent publication funded by The Getty Foundation’s Online Scholarly Catalog Initiative (OSCI). I incorporate multiple layers of interpretation into my reading of the structure and contents of the museum website, drawing on concepts developed in information science and textual studies by Bonnie Mak and Johanna Drucker. My performance of reading of the new catalog helps me begin to address how collectively, online representation in virtual frames, contextualization within a website, searching, and browsing support divergent interpretations of a collection catalogue as a text. I conclude that to engage a catalog at a scholarly level, and to interpret and synthesize meaning of the catalog as a text, the museum must situate its self-representation spatially and temporally.

The importance of this thesis can be differentiates between two points: One, investigate the contents and relationships and the same and differences of old tripitaka catalogue and reorganize it. Two, digitize the organized catalogue and save it. The reason why we choose Jin dynasty tripitaka is its abounding values. About its values, we discuss it in three ways. First, because it is the copy of the first tripitaka Kai bao tzang,it represents the contents of the first tripitaka. And it is the second tripitaka, now it is the oldest and the most valuable edition which exists. Second, the contents are abundant. It has 6980 rolls, and some of them are seldom seen by the other tripitakas, so it includes many scriptures which are not seen in other tripitakas. Third, Jin dynasty tripitaka are valuable culture relics. Because when it is discovered, it is the printed books of old wood block and is not complete. For this, we should recover and maintain it. The carving of Jin dynasty tripitaka is not accidental. It is tsuei fa jen who cut her arm and vowed to crave it. The process was also hard. The founding was raised by villager. And the craving period of time last for thirty years. The hard craving process is valuable for us to study it. The main method of comparison of this thesis is to compare Zhi yao lu、Mr. Jiang’s catalogue,Chinese tripitaka、Beijing National Library jin tripitaka and Mr. Lee’s catalogue, using XML method. in order to find the same and the different part of the catalogues. The reasons we choose these five tripitakas as the targets are because the contents of Zhi yao lu are the same as the contents of Jin dynasty tripitaka, so we use Zhi yao lu as the reference. And the Mr. Jiang’s catalogue is revised by Mr. Jiang in Shanxi Guangsheng Temple and use Gao li tzang and Zhi yuan lu to mend it, part of the catalogues are real. Chinese nation tripitaka use Mr. Jiang’s edition as the original edition, and add other tripitaka’s scriptures to finish it. Also, the Beijing library Jin tripitaka let us see the actual copy of the wood block. Mr. Lee’s jin tripitaka consult Mr. Jiang’s catalogue and Sheau ye shyuan miao catalogue, and we use all these catalogues to investigate the same and difference Buddhist scriptures. The investigating method is also go through in two ways. First, read the related materials and realize these five catalogues’ situation, history, and the relationships between each other. Second, use computer method to analyze it. In this way, we use XML to record every single scripture, and we can recognize every scripture and the contents of Zhi yuan lu. Then, we use link tag to link the same scriptures of first four catalogues. It may be the same scriptures in four catalogues, or in three catalogues, or in two catalogues. After linking, we write Python file to convert it to HTML file. In this way, we can see the scriptures on the internet, and when we choose one of the scriptures, it will show the other same scriptures. For Mr. Lee’s jin tripitaka, Mr. Jiang’s catalogues, Chinese tripitaka ,Beijing National Library jin tripitaka, we make a comparison table to show the differences between them. And build the database of Mr. Lee’s jin tripitaka.

Catalogs have been very popular in Taiwan for years. As the growing economy and increasing national income, the market value of catalog in Taiwan could up to 4 to 5 billions per year. Recently, with the rapid development of e-commerce and the internet, a different type of catalog, EDM (Email Direct Marketing) has risen. But still, the traditional way with paper got its own advantages to make it irreplaceable, such as preservability, readability and easy-carrying.   This study aimed to find the key factors which were related to the browsing willingness of traditional catalogs. According to literature review, we constructed the questionnaire with dimensions includes “browsing willingness of catalog”, “reading habits of catalogs”, “content preferences of catalogs” and “promotional preferences of catalogs”. Data collecting method was on-line survey. As the result of the survey, we identified the preferences for traditional catalogs for different customer’ backgrounds.        The study found that female consumers got much higher willingness to use the catalog shopping than males, and for the lifestyle survey, most of the consumers were the “fashion” type. Fiually, We recommend catalog supplier should develop a personalized catalog based on our survey results. So that could lower the cost and optimize the marketing value for the supplier.

O presente relatório pretende ilustrar os resultados do estágio desenvolvido no Arquivo Nacional de Imagens em Movimento (ANIM) da Cinemateca Portuguesa – Museu do Cinema e ainda refletir sobre qual o seu papel na nossa memória. Apresenta-se uma reflexão crítica e teórica sobre o conceito de arquivo, sobre qual o seu poder e a sua relação com o cinema, nomeadamente com as práticas arquivísticas do cinema contemporâneo e com a criação das cinematecas. O relatório articula-se em três partes. Uma primeira, sobre as questões inerentes ao conceito de arquivo – memória, identidade, história, poder – e sobre qual a sua relação com a sétima arte. Seguidamente, uma parte mais descritiva, onde se encontra a caracterização da instituição. E por fim, fruto da observação durante o estágio, expõem-se as lacunas internas e externas que afectam a instituição, apresentando-se também possíveis soluções, que podem permitir alterações positivas no desempenho do ANIM e da Cinemateca enquanto zeladora do património cinematográfico português, tornando esta reflexão um convite para reconsiderar a importância e poder deste arquivo particular, para nós, enquanto indivíduos e sociedade.
