Abstract:
Significant transformations in the technologies of e-catalog building in the area of local history are discussed. The author examines the main changes. She focuses on the local lore and history e-catalogs of the RF libraries and their specific features. The document support of the catalog development is presented. Based on the element structure of the technological process (goal, objects, subjects, resources, processes, instruments, methods, regulation documents, and results), the transformations in the technology are revealed. The author concludes that these changes are due to the expanding objects covered by the catalogs (including the networked); complicating regulations for the objects (mandatory competences for machine-readable cataloguing); radical changes to the advantage of digital information resources; need for continuing upgrade of hardand software; exacerbating problems of linguistic support of machine-readable cataloguing; new regulations, etc. The author also points to significantly complicating technologies. The author suggests that the solution may lie in labor consumption and efficiency calculations for the processes of the e-catalog elements design and use.

Abstract:
For historical reasons, the Austrian National Library (ANL) had only 10 per cent of its 2.9 million items available in its OPAC as of 1997. Its unique holdings from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries could still only be found via card catalogs. In order to make these unique collections accessible via the Web, the library scanned each catalog card into a digital image. An in‐house software application called KatZoom was used to browse and search the catalog card images. Within less than half a year, ANL’s unique holdings became accessible via the Web. At a later time, these digital images were converted to electronic text and incorporated into the local library systems.

Despite ever-increasing electronic access to a wide variety of information resources, academic librarians need to remember that a significant number of historical documents are not available in digital form; nor have the catalogs or bibliographies containing these documents been digitized. While it is true that many libraries in Europe, as well as the United States, now make their general library catalogs available on the Internet, frequently there existed manuscripts and documents that never were included in the original card catalog that served as the basis for the online catalog. Thus, the historical scholar must depend on reference sources, such as . . .

Abstract:
<p><em>This study examined whether selecting certain retail channels to purchase clothing reflects generational and gender preferences as well as their digital behavior. Based on 1000 consumer cases from a Cornell National Social Survey conducted in 2012, this study employed correspondence analysis to segment clothing retail channel groups and relate the segments to generational cohorts and gender. Overall, the majority of Gen Y, Gen X, and Baby Boomer male consumers preferred the store-only channel, while the majority of female consumers of these generations liked the digital-only or digital-store channel for purchasing clothing. On the other hand, both male and female seniors liked catalogs (either digital-catalog or catalog only) for purchasing clothing. In addition, ANOVA was run with generation and gender as the independent variables and digital behaviors as the dependent variables. Results provided strategic information on how to target each clothing channel segment using the digital behavior of different generations and gender. </em></p>

Abstract:
T<span>raditionally, standard catalog records have provided bibliographic data that mostly address the basic features of library resources. At the same time, catalogs have offered access to these records through a limited array of names, titles, series, subject headings, class numbers, and a relatively small number of keywords contained within descriptions. Today’s catalog users expect access to information well beyond what can be offered by traditional approaches to bibliographic description and access. By pursuing a suite of projects, the Library of Congress (LC) has responded to the challenge of enticing patrons to continue to include the online catalog among the tools they use for information retrieval. Drawing extensively on the power of automation, staff of LC’s Bibliographic Enrichment Advisory Team (BEAT) have created and implemented a variety of initiatives to link researchers, catalogs, and Web resources; increase the content of the catalog record; and link the catalog to electronic resources. BEAT’s ongoing work demonstrates how, in the electronic era, it is possible to provide new and improved ways to capitalize on traditional services in the digital age. This paper will illustrate these points by focusing on BEAT’s tables of contents projects to demonstrate how library automation can make significant bibliographic enhancement efforts quick, easy, and affordable to achieve.</span>

Abstract:
Technological developments encourage business actors to be more creative in their competition to provide the best services to their consumers. In the field of motor vehicle sales today, however, brochures are still widely used in introducing their products. In light of this, PT Samudera Jaya Benelli wants to have an android-based e-catalog that contains information on their motorbike products so that it will facilitate the process of delivering information to potential customers who visit the showroom. Additionally, the use of e-catalogs can help the company save on the cost of printing brochures and catalogs, which has been the common practice so far. Furthermore, the development of this e-catalog information system uses the User-Centered Designing (UCD) method. The purpose of using UCD is to produce applications that have high use value, which includes the convenience in the usage, management, and effectiveness of the application, as well as the compatibility of the application to users' needs. Therefore, it is expected that this Android-based (mobile) e-catalog application will be able to increase efficiency and provide convenience in displaying products in the form of a digital catalog that has a modern, complete, and simple appearance

Abstract:
We present the data release 14 Quasar catalog (DR14Q) from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV (SDSS-IV). This catalog includes all SDSS-IV/eBOSS objects that were spectroscopically targeted as quasar candidates and that are confirmed as quasars via a new automated procedure combined with a partial visual inspection of spectra, have luminosities Mi [z = 2] < −20.5 (in a Λ CDM cosmology with H0 = 70 km s−1 Mpc−1, Ω M =0.3, and Ω Λ = 0.7), and either display at least one emission line with a full width at half maximum larger than 500 km s−1 or, if not, have interesting/complex absorption features. The catalog also includes previously spectroscopically-confirmed quasars from SDSS-I, II, and III. The catalog contains 526 356 quasars (144 046 are new discoveries since the beginning of SDSS-IV) detected over 9376 deg2 (2044 deg2 having new spectroscopic data available) with robust identification and redshift measured by a combination of principal component eigenspectra. The catalog is estimated to have about 0.5% contamination. Redshifts are provided for the Mg II emission line. The catalog identifies 21 877 broad absorption line quasars and lists their characteristics. For each object, the catalog presents five-band (u, g, r, i, z) CCD-based photometry with typical accuracy of 0.03 mag. The catalog also contains X-ray, ultraviolet, near-infrared, and radio emission properties of the quasars, when available, from other large-area surveys. The calibrated digital spectra, covering the wavelength region 3610–10 140 Å at a spectral resolution in the range 1300 < R < 2500, can be retrieved from the SDSS Science Archiver Server.

Abstract:
AbstractMajor advances in our understanding of the Universe have historically come from dramatic improvements in our ability to accurately measure astronomical quantities. The astrometric observations obtained by modern digital sky surveys are enabling unprecedentedly massive and robust studies of the kinematics of the Milky Way. For example, the astrometric data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), together with half a century old astrometry from the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS), have enabled the construction of a catalog that includes absolute proper motions as accurate as 3 mas/year for about 20 million stars brighter than V=20, and for 80,000 spectroscopically confirmed quasars which provide exquisite error assessment. We discuss here several ongoing studies of Milky Way kinematics based on this catalog. The upcoming next-generation surveys will maintain this revolutionary progress. For example, we show using realistic simulations that the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) will measure proper motions accurate to 1 mas/year to a limit 4 magnitude fainter than possible with SDSS and POSS catalogs, or with the Gaia survey. LSST will also obtain geometric parallaxes with accuracy similar to Gaia's at its faint end (0.3 mas at V=20), and extend them to V=24 with an accuracy of 3 mas. We discuss the impact that these LSST measurements will have on studies of the Milky Way kinematics, and potential synergies with the Gaia survey.

East Nusa Tenggara Province is one of the tourist destination areas, one of its prima donnas is Komodo Island which was included in the list of The New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2012. But not only that, there are still many stunning tourist destinations. Kupang City is the main destination before accessing the natural beauty of the East Nusa Tenggara region. In the Kupang City and the Regency of Kupang itself holds many tourist destinations, but the terms of promotion that are still catalog and social media are deemed inadequate. High cost of catalog production and data costs for accessing social media are not cheap either. But by using a router and access point, it is expected that these costs can be eliminated. The router is used to create a hotspot login page. The login page can be modified into a digital catalog (website page) while the Access Point is used to distribute catalog. Hotspots can be accessed free of charge by tourist attractions. Digital catalog can be changed according to the development of tourist attractions. This digital catalog also provides alternative tourism in the Kupang City and other areas in East Nusa Tenggara Province

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to create an understanding of how consumers experience the use of digital product catalogs and what kind of value they give them. To investigate this, an observation was made in combination with an interview of ten respondents aged 21–72. The respondents had to find and use one of three pre-selected digital catalogs in the category of rare goods and then describe their user experience. The researchers worked on an interview guide in connection with the interviews, which took 15–20 minutes each. The results show that most respondents experience some type of difficulty in the use of the digital catalogs and when they were given the choice, only one out of ten preferred a digital catalog over a physical one. In addition, only three of the ten respondents had been in contact with a digital catalog before compared to the physical edition that everyone had used before. Based on this result, it appears that the digitization of product catalogs seems to have reduced its use and consumers no longer come into contact with product catalogs to the same extent when they are presented on digital platforms. The result also shows that most of the respondents believe that the value they get from digital product catalogs is inspiration, regardless of whether they chose a catalog during the observation more based on presentation of assortment than with an inspiring approach. It appeared however, that even with a good experience and the inspirational value most people prefer to search for products directly in companies' online stores instead of using digital product catalogs.

Abstract:
We present the Data Release 12 Quasar catalog (DR12Q) from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III. This catalog includes all SDSS-III /BOSS objects that were spectroscopically targeted as quasar candidates during the full survey and that are confirmed as quasars via visual inspection of the spectra, have luminosities Mi[z = 2] < -20.5 (in a Lambda CDM cosmology with H-0 = 70 km s (1) Mpc (1), Omega(M) = 0 : 3, and Omega(A) = 0.7), and either display at least one emission line with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) larger than 500 km s (1) or, if not, have interesting /complex absorption features. The catalog also includes previously known quasars (mostly from SDSS-I and II) that were reobserved by BOSS. The catalog contains 297 301 quasars (272 026 are new discoveries since the beginning of SDSSIII) detected over 9376 deg(2) with robust identification and redshift measured by a combination of principal component eigenspectra. The number of quasars with z > 2.15 (184 101, of which 167 742 are new discoveries) is about an order of magnitude greater than the number of z > 2 : 15 quasars known prior to BOSS. Redshifts and FWHMs are provided for the strongest emission lines (C iv, C III], Mg II). The catalog identifies 29 580 broad absorption line quasars and lists their characteristics. For each object, the catalog presents five-band (u, g, r, i, z) CCD-based photometry with typical accuracy of 0.03 mag together with some information on the optical morphology and the selection criteria. When available, the catalog also provides information on the optical variability of quasars using SDSS and Palomar Transient Factory multi-epoch photometry. The catalog also contains X-ray, ultraviolet, near-infrared, and radio emission properties of the quasars, when available, from other large-area surveys. The calibrated digital spectra, covering the wavelength region 3600-10 500 a at a spectral resolution in the range 1300 < R < 2500, can be retrieved from the SDSS Catalog Archive Server. We also provide a supplemental list of an additional 4841 quasars that have been identified serendipitously outside of the superset defined to derive the main quasar catalog.

Abstract:
A catalog of 8472 white dwarf (WD) candidates is presented, selected using reduced proper motions from the deep proper motion catalog of Munn et al. Candidates are selected in the magnitude range 16 < r < 21.5 over 980 square degrees, and 16 < r < 21.3 over an additional 1276 square degrees, within the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) imaging footprint. Distances, bolometric luminosities, and atmospheric compositions are derived by fitting SDSS ugriz photometry to pure hydrogen and helium model atmospheres (assuming surface gravities log g = 8). The disk white dwarf luminosity function (WDLF) is constructed using a sample of 2839 stars with 5.5 < M-bol < 17, with statistically significant numbers of stars cooler than the turnover in the luminosity function. The WDLF for the halo is also constructed, using a sample of 135 halo WDs with 5 < M-bol < 16. We find space densities of disk and halo WDs in the solar neighborhood of 5.5 +/- 0.1 x 10(-3) pc(-3) and 3.5 +/- 0.7 x 10(-5) pc(-3), respectively. We resolve the bump in the disk WDLF due to the onset of fully convective envelopes in WDs, and see indications of it in the halo WDLF as well.

Abstract:
There is a great need for digital libraries that are flexible, scalable, and reliable. Few such systems exist. Little is known about how to build them. This thesis addresses these problems by enhancing a prototype digital library system with the aim of making it more flexible, scalable, and reliable. We hypothesize that: 1) adding a new (user information) layer and maintaining weak coupling in the design of a digital library system can help achieve system flexibility; 2) optimizing network connection usage and facilitating distribution of computation and disk operations in system design can help achieve system scalability; and 3) applying good software processes can help university students produce a very reliable system. Approaches based on the above hypothesis were used in the project of Reengineering the MARIAN System in Java. The results of the project and experiments verified the correctness of the hypothesis. The results of this thesis may help inform future digital library design and implementation projects to produce flexible, scalable, and reliable systems.

Abstract:
How will an exhibition catalog or a fictional story, enhanced for digital tablets, translate the visitor’s reading habits and expectations into pages-screens? How do the e-books’ designers understand and conceive these reading practices? How will concrete readers’ expectations meet the implicit reader of the text? This thesis is based on a social semiotic methodology, deeply intertwining the empirical study of the current e-books creative and consumption practices with a methodical analysis of the semiotic and rhetorical strategies of their editorial interfaces. Empirically merging semiotic, sociological and economical research, we bring to light a new original vocabulary of “reading features” of enhanced e-books. Combining it with the designers’ practices, this vocabulary exhibits the role played by usages and social standards in semiosis. It is also enriched with a reception study on a specific artifact

Abstract:
Digitization produces ‚hybrid‘ objects that are readable as digital data files but at the same time still ‚contain‘ the original cultural-historical object. In this perspective, ‚digital collections‘, ‚digital libraries‘, etc. are in fact hybrid collections, or libraries. For musical artefacts, the range of historical media is especially complex, which again concerns the digital world. Digital Humanities publications also contribute to the complex and confusing situation as they themselves are not only ‚information‘, but as a rule, complex and hybrid textual systems that often contain complete digitized re-publications of cultural objects, providing them with digital ‚inscriptions‘, and interlinking them. So the hybridity of ‚digital libraries‘ increases as soon as Digital Humanities publications are integrated. Therefore, metadata should mirror precisely the hybrid nature of the digitized/digital objects catalogued.

Abstract:
The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) began observations in 2014 July. It pursues three core programs: the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2), Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA), and the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS). As well as its core program, eBOSS contains two major subprograms: the Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey (TDSS) and the SPectroscopic IDentification of ERosita Sources (SPIDERS). This paper describes the first data release from SDSS-IV, Data Release 13 (DR13). DR13 makes publicly available the first 1390 spatially resolved integral field unit observations of nearby galaxies from MaNGA. It includes new observations from eBOSS, completing the Sloan Extended QUasar, Emission-line galaxy, Luminous red galaxy Survey (SEQUELS), which also targeted variability-selected objects and X-ray-selected objects. DR13 includes new reductions of the SDSS-III BOSS data, improving the spectrophotometric calibration and redshift classification, and new reductions of the SDSS-III APOGEE-1 data, improving stellar parameters for dwarf stars and cooler stars. DR13 provides more robust and precise photometric calibrations. Value-added target catalogs relevant for eBOSS, TDSS, and SPIDERS and an updated red-clump catalog for APOGEE are also available. This paper describes the location and format of the data and provides references to important technical papers. The SDSS web site, http://www.sdss.org, provides links to the data, tutorials, examples of data access, and extensive documentation of the reduction and analysis procedures. DR13 is the first of a scheduled set that will contain new data and analyses from the planned similar to 6 yr operations of SDSS-IV.

Social organizations over the years have contributed to soften the social problems in which the state alone is not able to solve them. But in order for them to work and effectively promote changes in the lives of those most in need, it is necessary to seek the resources and manage them in the best possible way. For this, the use of management tools can contribute to the administration of these organizations to overcome the challenges that require more and more professionalization. In this way, the objective of the work was to carry out a case study to verify if the business plan can help the management of a social organization in order to guarantee its sustainability. For that, the Infocenter and Digital Culture of Catalão Association (ASSINCAT) was selected, which through public policy obtained the financial resources and implemented an infocenter to promote digital inclusion in the community. According to this study, ASSINCAT is an organization whose strengths are highly qualified people, the partnership of UFG-RC, a vast field to act, but that depends on the public policies for its operation. It offers basic computer courses aiming at the qualification of labor for the labor market, arousing the interest of children, young and old to know and interact with the digital world in which many are excluded. By 2016, there were 58 courses taught and 178 students graduating. A study on the organization was elaborated regarding its operation through consultation of the documents and records of ASSINCAT. Two questionnaires were also developed and applied, one for the students and another for the teachers to know the profile, the use of the technologies and the perception of the physical, digital, human and social resources of ASSINCAT. A total of 44 completed forms were obtained from the students and 14 from the teachers, from which the results contributed to the preparation of the business plan. The results demonstrated students' satisfaction in having learned how to handle the computer and perform activities they once did not. It was also possible to verify the teachers' satisfaction of having contributed to the evolution of their students. Through the proposed business plan it was possible to verify that ASSINCAT is a viable organization and has acted with effectiveness in the digital inclusion of its user’s actions what actions are necessary to make the offered service even better and more efficient. Suggested strategies along with suggested improvements if followed will help guide your management further in improving your performance and taking advantage of opportunities so that it can continue to work and allow more people to dig into the digital universe and to transform their lives economically and socially.

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter presents the findings of an ongoing digital project of the Helsinki Computational History Group at Helsinki Centre for Digital Humanities (HELDIG) focused on the history of eighteenth-century book publication. The authors have created a historical-biographical database based on The English Short-Title Catalogue (ESTC), a standard source for analytical bibliographic research, and extracted a data-driven canon which considers changes over time, subject-topics, top-works, authors, publishers, publication place, and materiality. This chapter provides both methodological and historical insights into the development of print and demonstrates the huge analytical potential of harmonized metadata catalogs. While quantitative analyses of the book trade were attempted before, they did not engage with the complex process of canon formation at such a large scale. The authors’ work highlights the formative role played by publishers in this process and the epistemological shift started at the end of the seventeenth century, when religious works were increasingly replaced by literary works. As the authors argue, this shift in the production and consumption of print allowed for a reinvention of the canon during the eighteenth century.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of the experience of using the capabilities of Digital Humanities in the preparation of research projects in history. In particular, the article reveals the methodology for using a complex of areas of information computer technologies when working with sources, on the example of studying Russian Theosophical Journalism of Emigration of 1920s-1930s, which can be used when studying other topics by students of humanitarian orientation. The teacher can teach students to use information technology in different ways. First, get acquainted with the databases of archives and electronic libraries. Modern capabilities allow you to remotely analyze the catalogs of emigrant publications. Secondly, the researcher has access in a number of cases to already digitized sources in databases, for example, in the Consolidated Catalog of Periodicals of the Russian Emigration - Emigrantika (http://www.emigrantica.ru/), getting acquainted not only with the text, but also visual information. Thirdly, Digital Humanities allow using a variety of tools for interpreting texts, in particular, programs for creating author's databases with the introduction of hypertext, programs for conducting content analysis. It is these components that allow us to conclude that modern information computer technologies are increasingly allowing historians to conduct a source study of electronic resources, interpret the received primary data, and in the future create more and more advanced distributed systems. Acquaintance of students with the models of work of researchers using the capabilities of Digital Humanities should also contribute to the more active implementation of modern methods of working with various types of information contained in historical sources.

Abstract:
In this work, we present the platform Boca a Boca Virtual, a kind of virtual catalog that aims to help self-employed professionals and small businesses to start their presence in the digital environment, promoting their services and products in a simple and fast way. The idea emerged during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially with social isolation, whose concern, from an economic and social point of view, was to allow autonomous service providers and establishments, in general, to continue offering their products and/or services. Through the platform, a consumer can search for a specific product and service within his own neighborhood and city, strengthening the local economy. In addition, Boca a Boca Virtual is integrated with Google Maps, in such a way that registered developments are also indexed by the Google search engine, improving their visibility and potentially increasing more customers. The platform is fully responsive, combining several recent web development technologies. Today it has more than 140 registered enterprises, from more than 30 Brazilian cities.

Abstract:
In 2020/21, the collaborative distributed Hungarian library platform will be completed and introduced, revolutionizing library services with state-of-the-art IT solutions. The Hungarian National Library Platform (HNLP) puts the national library services, the common catalog and interlibrary loan, the services of the ISBN office, the digitization cooperation on a new foundation, and integrates the Hungarian National Namespace and opens up entity-based data connections beyond the library world. It expands the range of services provided to readers, providing legitimate digital content to both library visitors and remotely logged in online users. It provides modern interfaces for publishers and authors to expand the range of information about their publications with relevant data. It is open to libraries to replace, in part or in full, their existing IT solutions and, moving into the cloud-based system, use it as their own integrated library platform. The parameterdriven HNLP allows connected libraries to create a unique brand image, deliver their collections in the most diverse way, while becoming an integral part of an entity-based data model-based metadata repository and digital object repository. The collaboration between libraries, which began in 2016 with the design of the new platform, has now entered a new phase: our partners review the specifications, the libraries provide their data for the developed modules, test the system elements, and then the entire platform in an integrated way. The first module of the HNLP, the “old and rare books” module, was launched in October 2019, followed by the launch of the Library Science Library in 2020, and in 2021 the operation of the National Széchényi Library in this modern environment will follow. What are the main pillars of this platform? What secures the required flexibility? What makes it capable of accommodating any type of metadata and serving any type of library? How can all types of libraries be connected, small and large libraries, university and church, public and private libraries alike? How is the system open to the processing of archival and museum materials? What has been achieved so far and what are the next steps until the full transition?
