Abstract:

Abstract:
There is a crisis in the publication and archiving of archaeological field data in Europe. Computerized data are more fragile than paper archives but also more accessible via the Internet. This article explores the role of the Archaeology Data Service and examines some of the issues raised by the collection of digital data and their dissemination online and the implications for the future of archaeological publication. It discusses approaches to digital data preservation, the development of archival standards and ways of encouraging reuse. It explores the development of distributed online catalogues and archives and the need for metadata standards for cataloguing resources. Finally, it considers the role of XML as an emergent technology and introduces the European ARENA project which is developing a digital preservation and access infrastructure.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the effect of motivation factor in digital literacy. In particular, we examine the cumulative and recursive model of digital access, and examine the causal path of motivation factor to digital usages by analyzing the effects of motivation access on material access, skill access, and usage access. For the analysis, we used ‘the digital divide index and actual survey’ data of National Information Society Agency (NIA). The analytical model used the structural equation, and the statistics program used SPSS 23 and Amos 23. The results show that the motivation factor for digital literacy has a significant effect on material access, skill access and usage access. Policies that take into account motivations factors in digital literacy need to be strengthened.

Abstract:
Many students of color and students with low socioeconomic status are entering higher education with little experience in using the academic tools that are required of them on the digital campus. The lack of computer competence and access to computers can become an additional barrier to their successful completion of a degree. This article discusses: pre-college access and use by different groups of students; cross-campus computing initiatives; the potential impact of the present inequities experienced by students of color in the context of cross-campus computing; and recommendations to enhance access to computers and the computer competence of students of color.

Abstract:
Conversations about digital inequality in education often revolve around access to technology. However, research into youth culture has shown that many Black and Latinx teens are able to access technology and have developed the same digital skills as their white peers. Social scientist Matt Rafalow observed three California middle schools where students had similar levels of access to digital technologies despite being from different racial and class backgrounds and found that teachers perceived students’ technological abilities differently. Wealthy white students’ digital play was seen as essential to learning, while Asian American and Latinx students’ skills were seen as either a threat to their learning or irrelevant to it. Addressing digital inequality will require schools to also address the racial and class prejudice that leads teachers to view students’ abilities differently.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to explore three preservice teachers' experiences teaching writing with technology and digital tools during a year-long student teaching experience. Research found that while the three student teachers demonstrated conceptual understandings about the teaching of writing, their use of technology (or lack of) did not always reflect their views. When considering what influenced their transformations as teachers capable and willing to integrate technology into their writing instruction, the school context, particularly the notion of access, significantly shaped their appropriation of pedagogical tools for the teaching of digital writing. In addition, the student teachers were influenced not only by the resources that they had access to, but their perceptions of students' abilities and needs, as well as their own needs and efficacy as novice teachers.

Abstract:
Digital divide in Chile is not as large as it seems. Last figures obtained from a research made in aproximately twenty countries shows that at least 65% of the Chilean people are users of the Internet and have access to this technology. Therefore, digital literacy should focus on activities which would help to surpass the lack of access either by own decision or lack of skills. The following paper shows the situation of the digital divide in Chile and the activities developed in order to surpass it in both private and public areas.
