Abstract:
We will do here a study based on speech Analysis having as subject rhetoric, dialectic and argumentation, which are a mechanism functioning in juridical discourse, and we will take it as a social practice of discourse. This kind of discourse is produced according to specific institutionalized norms and has special discourse laws that provide a language marked by technique and jargons, which stylizes it. The establishment of this discourse also makes possible the use of rhetorical and dialectical techniques to build up argumentation between the enunciation, who pass it to their target public with a view to convincing and persuading them. Interlocutors aim at attracting their public and therefore develop their these so much so that they be the most verisimilar as possible. This fact is due to the articulation between statements and enunciators and to the polyphonic process established by enunciation, a process that implies the notion of judgement of value set up by Rhetoric and Dialectic, which are both sides of this discourse coined by argumentation.

Hsu, Yu-Yin. The Cambridge Handbook of Chinese Linguistics. Edited by Chu-Ren Huang, Yen-Hwei Lin, and I.-Hsuan Chen. Cambridge University Press, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/9781108329019.

Full text
Abstract:
The linguistic study of Chinese, with its rich morphological, syntactic and prosodic/tonal structures, its complex writing system, and its diverse socio-historical background, is already a long-established and vast research area. With contributions from internationally renowned experts in the field, this Handbook provides a state-of-the-art survey of the central issues in Chinese linguistics. Chapters are divided into four thematic areas: writing systems and the neuro-cognitive processing of Chinese, morpho-lexical structures, phonetic and phonological characteristics, and issues in syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and discourse. By following a context-driven approach, it shows how theoretical issues in Chinese linguistics can be resolved with empirical evidence and argumentation, and provides a range of different perspectives. Its dialectical design sets a state-of-the-art benchmark for research in a wide range of interdisciplinary and cross-lingual studies involving the Chinese language. It is an essential resource for students and researchers wishing to explore the fascinating field of Chinese linguistics.

Gersel, Johan. What is the Myth of the Given? Oxford University Press, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780198809630.003.0005.

Full text
Abstract:
McDowell defends conceptualism about experiential content by arguing that contrary views of experience are forms of the Myth of the Given. The direct realist view of experience, which rejects experiential content altogether, is thus, according to McDowell, a mythical view of experience. A series of defenders of direct realism have responded to McDowell’s accusations. However, the recent debate has revealed that there is very little agreement on the details of McDowell’s argument, let alone on how to respond to it. I will argue that the responses to McDowell given by thinkers such as Travis, Brewer, Kalderon and Johnson, all rest on various misunderstandings of his line of argument. The aim of this paper is to provide an interpretation of the Myth of the Given, which lives up to the dialectical role it plays in McDowell’s argumentation. I aim to elaborate the notions of reasons and the notion of conceptuality in play in McDowell’s writings. On this basis I present an argument leading from the requirement that experience provides reasons for thought to the conclusion that experience must possess conceptual content.

Adamson, Peter. Dialectical Method in Alexander of Aphrodisias’ Treatises on Fate and Providence. Oxford University Press, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780198825128.003.0008.

Full text
Abstract:
This article offers an analysis of the argumentative method of two treatises by Alexander of Aphrodisias, On Fate and On Providence, the latter of which is preserved only in Arabic translation. It is argued that both texts use techniques from Aristotelian dialectic, albeit in different ways, with On Fate adhering to methods outlined in Aristotle's Topics whereas On Providence uses the ‘aporetic’ method familiar from texts such as MetaphysicsΒ‎. This represents a revision of a previous study of Alexander's method in On Fate by Jaap Mansfeld, which emphasized parallels between that method and the techniques of ancient scepticism. It is, however, suggested that Alexander does reflect developments in epistemology during the Hellenistic period, especially in so far as he ‘upgrades’ the status of endoxa to play something like the role of common conceptions in the dogmatic Hellenistic schools.
