Introduction. One of the most important conditions for ensuring the proper functioning and development of the entire sphere of entrepreneurship is the economic security of enterprises, and an important part of this process is the diagnosis of the financial condition of economic entities. Diagnosis is the main tool that allows you to objectively assess the internal and external parameters of the enterprise, to investigate economic processes in their relationship. The use of an effective mechanism of financial activity allows at an early stage to detect violations of proportions in the phases of the cycle of capital circulation in the enterprise and to establish the reasons that caused them. Methods. During the preparation of the article, a systematic approach to the study was used, which allowed to assess the state of implementation of financial diagnostics in the domestic business practice; the method of theoretical comparison for improvement of legislative regulation and directions of procedures of financial activity; the method of expert assessments - in the development of organizational provisions for the implementation of the mechanism of financial diagnostics in Ukraine. Results. The article identifies the importance of diagnosing the financial condition of the enterprise, considers the nature and necessity of a systematic analysis of the financial condition of the enterprise. The essence of the concept "diagnostics", "financial condition" is considered in the proposed article. Peculiarities of effective management of the financial condition of the enterprise in the conditions of market economy of Ukraine and the role of economic diagnostics in the activity of the enterprise are determined. Discussion. Further research on the development of financial activities will be to substantiate the implementation of modern areas of assessment of the financial condition of economic entities, especially within the introduction of digital technologies. The purpose of the article is to study the systems and methods of diagnostics of the crisis conditions of the aviation enterprise, to justify the role of controlling as a management accounting system in the detection and prevention of crisis phenomena, to clarify the mechanism and iterations of diagnostics of the crisis conditions taking into account the use of appropriate management systems. Methodology. The key provisions of economic and financial theory, methodological and methodological principles of crisis diagnosis of enterprises, presented in the works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists, were used as the theoretical basis of the study. The application of a systemic approach allowed to analyze the essence of diagnostics of crisis conditions, its purpose and objectives. The methods of logical generalization used in the research process allowed to formulate the conclusions on the conditions for the effective implementation of diagnostics of crisis conditions based on improving of the functioning of management accounting systems and management systems. Results. The study allowed us to analyze the factors that causing crisis conditions in the aviation industry. The main methods for diagnosing crisis conditions are analyzed placing emphasis on the special place that belongs to management accounting and the use of management systems when diagnosing crisis conditions. The basic provisions of effective organization of management accounting at aviation enterprises to form the information base at development of the strategy for crisis prevention or recovering from crisis conditions are defined. The peculiarities of diagnostic analysis of the financial condition of the enterprise as a system of diagnostic methods are identified; on the basis of a systemic approach, they allow to establish causal changes in the economic system through quantitative and qualitative measurement of the influence of factors on adjustments and development. Features of different types of diagnostic analysis depending on the hierarchy in the management system, goals and directions of analysis, as well as the availability of information about the problem areas of the enterprise, are discussed. Tasks that need to be implemented to achieve the goal of diagnostic analysis are specified. The necessity of diagnostics of possible crisis conditions of the aviation enterprise with simultaneous risk research and its influence on financial stability of the investigated object is justified. The system of indicator values for diagnostics of a financial condition of the aviation enterprise is offered. The sequence of calculations for the implementation of monitoring and controlling process of the financial condition of aviation enterprises is presented. Practical implications. The approach for diagnosing financial condition of the enterprise, which allows to identify the symptoms and threats of the financial crisis and to develop the policy for prevention (anticipation) of weak signals of a crisis situation based on the analysis, is justified. The conditions of effective application of management accounting systems on the basis of monitoring and controlling and modern methods of diagnostics of the financial condition of aviation enterprises are determined. The directions for improvement of analytical activity on the basis of information systems and technologies for the aviation industry are justified. Value/originality. Results given in the article can be used for further research on the problem of diagnosing the crisis conditions of aviation enterprises.

The study focuses on the fact that the negative impact of some changes in the global financial and economic system, of course, is reflected in the choice of diagnostic objects, which is carried out in order to form an effective information system for the adaptation of economic entities to real conditions of functioning. The features of the selection of diagnostic objects, which are determined by the purpose, goals, objectives set in the design or acquisition of a diagnostic system of a particular economic system, are considered. It is noted that with the objects of diagnostics at the micro level, scholars mainly include the potential of the enterprise together with the appropriate subspecies (financial, personnel, production-technical, economic). Based on the study of the approaches of scientists, as well as the author’s own research on the choice of diagnostic objects, it is argued that these include: amalgamation of States, country, region, territorial community (TG) or amalgamated hromada (AH), industry, enterprise. Also, the carried out research reveals and visually demonstrates the hierarchical subordination of objects for diagnosing economic systems. It is determined that the objects of diagnostics presented in the study are interrelated and can affect each other. The article states that methodical and constructive content (choice of methods, procedures, coefficients, format of submission of results, etc.) of the diagnostic system depends on the choice of the object or groups of objects. It is considered that at each of the stages of diagnostics, to a certain extent, the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the object are taken into account, which decisively affect the production of initial information by the diagnostic system and its application in making managerial decisions. It is proved that depending on the selected object of diagnostics, the diagnostic indicators of both internal and external will differ, and so will be their optimal values. It is noted that the indicators of diagnostics of the relevant object should be correlated with each other in order to obtain relevant information for the effective management of the object of diagnostics and forecasting the possible consequences of its change when changing a particular indicator

The paper states theoretical and methodological issues of financial strategy’s formation of the enterprise under modern conditions of economic development. The key problems of the river ports development are determined. Among them - shortage of service equipment, logistic disparity of transport river networks, obsolete vessels. Ways of improving the financial condition of water transport and ports in Russia are suggested.The article specifies that the strategic management of the company's finances can rule over cash flows, capital and investments effectively. The starting point for formation of financial strategy of water transport enterprises should be diagnostics of financial activity and first of all, diagnostics of financial maintenance of the enterprise. A new methodical approach to the formation of the cash flow management strategy of water transport enterprises is proposed. It includes two main stages: a stage of a strategic analysis of the company's cash flows with use of organizational and information model and aanalysis of diagnostics of financial security of water transport enterprises. It is proved that financial strategy is the guiding vector of management of the enterprise and its industrial and economic activity in a modern, dynamic and competitive market environment.

In modern conditions, the achievement of dynamic growth of the real sector of the economy is a condition for ensuring financial security, both for the state and the region, since it is directly related to filling the budget from the profits of material production industries. The article defines various interpretations of the concept of «financial security» by scientists. Given the theoretical analysis suggested that the financial security of the region should be understood such as financial, budgetary, banking, insurance, currency, tax, investment systems in the region, which creates a high level of protection of all financial interests and minimize external and internal threats with the help of special tools. Indicators of diagnostics of financial security of the region are presented, which will help to identify the most critical threats and develop measures to improve and overcome the current situation, as well as the main directions of assessing the financial security of the region. Scientific studies have shown that certain requirements are necessary for the qualitative characteristics of financial security indicators. The set of indicators should be comprehensive and consistent and should help to analyze the regional financial system from the point of view of its economic security. For these purposes, a block of basic indicators should be formed, which will provide a foundation for conducting an analysis of the financial security of the region, which allows us to formulate that the indicators of financial security indicators should be combined into a two-level system. Based on the study, a system of principles for selecting indicators of financial security in the region is defined.

The subject of this research is the peculiarities of economic behavior, namely economic attitudes (activity in the economic sphere, financial literacy, trust in economic institutions, etc.) and representations (concept of money, shortage of money resources, financial security, solutions to financial problems). The goal lies in determination and description of the economic behavior (economic attitudes and perception of money) and their correlation with the psychological characteristics of young people (self-regulation of stressful states and resilience). The research involved young people under the age of 35. The following toolset was used: “Questionnaire for instant diagnostics of economic attitudes” developed by O. S. Deinek, E. V. Zabelina, “Diagnostics of stress condition” developed by A. O. Prokhorov, “Test for resilience” adapted by E. N. Osin, E. I. Rasskazova.. As a result of the conducted research, the author determines various patterns of the economic behavior of youth, as well as correlation of economic attitudes and perception of money with the psychological resources of a person. It is established that youth with an active economic position, financial literacy, and trust in economic institutions is characterized with the ability to adequately assess stressful circumstances and effectively cope with stress. Youth with an attitude towards socioeconomic comparison of own opportunities with others, as well as with passive adaptation to the market conditions experiences strong discomfort due to economic inequality. The author reveals that young people are exposed to stressful situations and anxiety in the situations of uncertainty and financial risks.

Purpose. To create a mathematical model and approaches for the formation of optimal management actions on the basis of strategic diagnostics data and to use them to form an effective algorithm of strategic diagnostics in the system of controlling the financial results of the enterprise. Methodology. General and special methods of cognition were used during the study. The scientific economic approach to the implementation of the method of scientific abstraction was used to substantiate the relevance of the topic, purpose and tasks of the study, analysis of the impact of the use of strategic controlling systems on the financial condition of the enterprise. The method of analysis and synthesis and the method of induction and deduction were used to develop an algorithm for strategic controlling of the financial activity of the enterprise. The method of economic modeling was used for a formalized description and strategic forecast of the effectiveness of the strategies selected according to the controlling data. The method of comparison was used to analyze the pace of financial results and forecast the results of the extractive industry and the development of quarries by region. Findings. The mathematical model and approaches have been developed using the entropy method and the time series method for comparative analysis of variants of complex application of management solutions for the formation of optimal management actions based on strategic diagnostic data. An algorithm of strategic diagnostics in the system of controlling the financial results of the enterprise was created. The proposed vector criteria, their rate of change detected during the controlling, and their threshold values become an indicator that the current financial and production condition of the enterprise requires decisions to neutralize risks and improve the financial condition of the enterprise. Originality. The proposed mathematical model and approaches were first used to analyze the directions of strategic diagnostics in the system of controlling the activities of the enterprise. For the first time, a system of vector criteria for determining the need for management decisions to improve the financial condition of the enterprise has been proposed. The algorithm of realization of strategic controlling of financial activity of the enterprise is introduced. Practical value. The developed algorithm and mathematical apparatus can be used both for scientific purposes and in practical work by the management of enterprises of various industries. The effectiveness of the developed mathematical methods and the proposed algorithm is tested on forecasting the activities of mining enterprises and quarry development for Kyiv, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions of Ukraine.

Abstract This study analyses theoretical aspects of bankruptcy and financial analysis. Analysis of bankrupt cy diagnostics is the most important condition for successful company management since the results of economic activity depend on the availability and efficiency of the use of financial resources. The study of the institution of bankruptcy is essential for high-quality business conduct. Thus, as a practical part this study implemented analyses of financial condition and bankruptcy likelihood in aviation on the example of one of the biggest airlines – PJSC Aeroflot. Research resulted in findings confirming the instability of the company’s financial condition and downward trend on the Z index related to decrease in demand, mostly due to the pandemic of COVID-19.

Abstract. Introduction. It has been established that the availability of opportunities for mobilizing financial capital is a determining factor in increasing financial potential, ensuring competitive advantages and stable economic development of business entities. A streamlined and efficient process of forming the financial capital of an enterprise allows you to maximize its market value, ensure financial stability and profitability, and minimize the risks of financial and economic activities in the long term. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to study the theoretical provisions and develop practical recommendations for improving the process of forming the financial capital of business entities in modern conditions. Results. The structure of financial capital of Ukrainian enterprises by branches of the economy has been investigated. Changes in the structure of sources of formation of financial resources of Ukrainian enterprises are analyzed, and the main factors that have entailed these changes are considered. The analysis of the dynamics of profitability indicators as the main source of formation of own financial resources of Ukrainian enterprises is carried out. It is proved that an important role in stimulating reproduction processes in the economy is played by bank lending as the main source of financial resources for the current and investment activities of the subjects. The dynamics of the volumes of credit investments of Ukrainian banks was investigated, and the share of overdue loans in the total amount of loans was determined. Conclusions. In modern economic conditions, the optimization of the sources of financial resources of Ukrainian enterprises should be based on the criteria of the latter’s sufficiency, the optimality of their ratio depending on the industry characteristics and specific business conditions, the economic feasibility of attracting them and efficiency. Дисертацію присвячено розробці та науковому обґрунтуванню теоретичних і науково-методичних підходів щодо розвитку організаційно-економічного забезпечення реорганізації промислових підприємств. Досліджено світові тенденції розвитку машинобудування в світі та в національній економіці, основні теоретичні підходи щодо формування організаційно-економічного забезпечення проведення реорганізації промислового підприємства. Обґрунтовано сутність дефініції «реорганізація діяльності промислового підприємства», яке враховує ключові компетенції функціонування та розвитку соціально-економічної системи з виокремленням наскрізних бізнес-процесів для забезпечення генерації доданої економічної вартості.
Обґрунтовано необхідність при реорганізації діяльності промислового підприємства враховувати функціональні складові (маркетинг, проектування, підготовка виробництва, закупівлі та логістика, моніторинг якості, реалізація продукції, підтримка та супроводження) наскрізного бізнес-процесу, що відображає реалізацію ключових компетенцій суб‘єкта господарювання, структурних елементів (управлінських, основних, допоміжних), формування функціональних зон і організаційних контурів.
Виокремлено основні форми й види проведення реорганізації промислового підприємства в координатах: технологія, простір, час, структура, клієнти, результат, що є у підґрунтям розробки методичних підходів до оцінки, діагностики його фінансово-економічного стану та формуванні заходів проведення реорганізації. Розроблено теоретико-методичні положення формування організаційно-економічного забезпечення реорганізації діяльності промислових підприємств, що містять: виділення функціональних складових наскрізних бізнес-процесів; формування функціональних зон і організаційних контурів; виокремлення цілей, форм й видів реорганізації діяльності. Проаналізовано фінансовий стан та економічну діяльність суб‘єктів господарювання машинобудівного комплексу України. Сформовано науково-практичні рекомендації щодо визначення факторів впливу на ефективність діяльності промислових підприємств, які передбачають оцінку генерації економічної доданої вартості та імітаційне моделювання закономірностей і взаємозв‘язків показників функціонування та розвитку підприємства. Удосконалено науково-методичний підхід до оцінювання рівнів економічного розвитку та активності, який базується на побудові моделей факторів, які характеризують функціональні зони і організаційні контури реорганізації діяльності промислового підприємства Формування організаційно-економічного забезпечення реорганізації діяльності промислового підприємства базується на економіко-математичному моделюванні та теорії ігор при визначенні комплексів цільових заходів реорганізації за напрямами та враховує взаємозв‘язок та взаємообумовленість їх впливу на внутрішні та зовнішні фактори формування рівня досягнення ефективності, що дозволяє визначати найбільш доцільні комбінації фінансово-економічного і організаційного інструментарію реорганізації діяльності промислового підприємства з визначеними параметрами впливу. Розроблено підхід до формування організаційно-економічного забезпечення реорганізації діяльності та прогнозування результатів запровадження важелів реорганізації діяльності промислового підприємства,що ґрунтується на сценарному підході, врахуванні обмежень фінансово-економічного характеру та визначенні періоду досягнення цільового рівня генерації економічної доданої вартості, що дозволяє підвищити ступінь обґрунтованості доцільності їх застосування та реалізації у середньостроковій перспективі.

The world tendencies of development of mechanical engineering in the world and in the national economy, the basic theoretical approaches concerning the formation of organizational and economic maintenance of carrying out of the reorganization of the industrial enterprise are investigated. Justified the definition of «reorganization of an industrial enterprise» is substantiated, which takes into account the key competencies of the functioning and development of the socio-economic system with the separation of end-to-end business processes to ensure the generation of added economic value. Justified necessity to take into account the functional components (marketing, design, production preparation, procurement and logistics, quality monitoring, product sales, support, and maintenance) of the end-to-end business process, which reflects the implementation of key competencies of the business entity, structural elements (management, main, auxiliary), the formation of functional areas and organizational circuits. The main forms and types of the reorganization of an industrial enterprise are singled out in coordinates: technology, space, time, structure, clients, result, which is the basis for developing methodological approaches to assessment, diagnosis of its financial and economic condition, and formation of reorganization measures. Theoretical and methodological provisions for the formation of organizational and economic support for the reorganization of industrial enterprises, containing: the allocation of functional components of end-to-end business processes; formation of functional zones and organizational contours; identification of goals, forms, and types of the reorganization of activities. The financial condition and economic activity of economic entities of the machine-building complex of Ukraine are analyzed. Scientific and practical recommendations for determining the factors influencing the efficiency of industrial enterprises, which include the assessment of the generation of economic value-added and simulation of patterns and relationships of indicators of operation and development of the enterprise. На основі узагальнення зарубіжного і вітчизняного досвіду формування інноваційного процесу поглиблено та конкретизовано визначення категорії “інновація” і визначено її основні функції, обґрунтовано схему взаємодії державних і недержавних органів, установ і фондів щодо фінансового забезпечення інноваційних процесів у сучасних умовах трансформації економіки. У роботі проведено аналіз фінансового стану підприємств хімічної галузі, вдосконалено систему показників для оцінки економічної ефективності інновацій, а також обґрунтовано доцільність та розроблено механізми фінансування інноваційної діяльності підприємств хімічної промисловості на основі використання фінансового лізингу; розроблено алгоритм вибору найбільш прийнятного джерела фінансування; запропоновано підхід до оцінки впливу економічних ризиків на ефективність інноваційного проекту.The thesis is devoted to the research on the current condition of innovation at the enterprises chemical industry and the development of systematic approach and practical recommendations on the problem of intensification of innovations by enhancing the efficiency of all types of resources. The subject of research is the methodology and tools of economic and mathematical modeling of hotel development strategies. The object of this study are the strategies used for the successful management of the hotel business, which lead to sustainable use of financial and economic indicators. The purpose of the final qualification work is to analyze the effectiveness of the most successful strategies for the development of accommodation facilities with the further purpose of improving them. The objectives of the final qualification work are: to determine the nature and features of the application of strategies in the hotel business. Analyze the strategies that most positively affect the financial and economic performance of the hotel business. Highlight what strategies are used in the selected company to decide which inputs should be used to improve them. Consider foreign experience in choosing strategies for the development of the hotel industry; to substantiate the expediency of using the selected strategies for conducting hotel business in Ukraine. Analyze the financial and economic condition of the hotel enterprise. According to the results of the study to form strategies that will be most appropriate to fall under the possibility of their introduction on the plane of the hotel business. Analyze how the implementation of reverse strategies will affect the economic and financial performance and the development of the hotel business as a whole.

Запропоновано пріоритетну стратегію розвитку підприємства шляхом створення магазину з реалізації мінеральних добрив та агрохімії, реалізація яких спрямована на збільшення прибутку та підвищення конкурентних позицій підприємства. Проведено економічне обґрунтування розширення підприємства. Зроблено прогноз прибутку від реалізації продукції. Проведено оцінку економічної ефективності проекту. Проаналізовані можливі ризики та запропоновані заходи щодо їх мінімізації.

The priority strategy of enterprise development by creation of new products realization which is directed on increase of profit and increase of competitive positions of the enterprise is offered. The economic substantiation of expansion of the enterprise is carried out. Profit from sales of goods is forecast. An assessment of the economic efficiency of the project. The dissertation is devoted to the development and scientific substantiation of theoretical and scientific-methodical approaches to the development of organizational and economic support for the reorganization of industrial enterprises. The world tendencies of development of mechanical engineering in the world and in the national economy, the basic theoretical approaches concerning the formation of organizational and economic maintenance of carrying out of the reorganization of the industrial enterprise are investigated. Justified the definition of «reorganization of an industrial enterprise» is substantiated, which takes into account the key competencies of the functioning and development of the socio-economic system with the separation of end-to-end business processes to ensure the generation of added economic value. Justified necessity to take into account the functional components (marketing, design, production preparation, procurement and logistics, quality monitoring, product sales, support, and maintenance) of the end-to-end business process, which reflects the implementation of key competencies of the business entity, structural elements (management, main, auxiliary), the formation of functional areas and organizational circuits. The main forms and types of the reorganization of an industrial enterprise are singled out in coordinates: technology, space, time, structure, clients, result, which is the basis for developing methodological approaches to assessment, diagnosis of its financial and economic condition, and formation of reorganization measures. Theoretical and methodological provisions for the formation of organizational and economic support for the reorganization of industrial enterprises, containing: the allocation of functional components of end-to-end business processes; formation of functional zones and organizational contours; identification of goals, forms, and types of the reorganization of activities. The financial condition and economic activity of economic entities of the machine-building complex of Ukraine are analyzed. Scientific and practical recommendations for determining the factors influencing the efficiency of industrial enterprises, which include the assessment of the generation of economic value-added and simulation of patterns and relationships of indicators of operation and development of the enterprise. An improved scientific and methodological approach to assessing the levels of economic development and activity, which is based on the construction of models of factors that characterize the functional areas and organizational contours of the reorganization of the industrial enterprise. The formation of organizational and economic support for the reorganization of the industrial enterprise is based on economic and mathematical modeling and game theory in determining the sets of targeted measures of reorganization by areas and takes into account the relationship and interdependence of their impact on internal and external factors of efficiency. combinations of financial, economic, and organizational tools for the reorganization of the industrial enterprise with certain parameters of influence. The approach to the formation of organizational and economic maintenance of reorganization of activity and forecasting of results of the introduction of levers of the reorganization of activity of the industrial enterprise based on the scenario approach, taking into account restrictions of financial and economic character and definition of the period of achievement of the target level of generation of economic added value is developed. application and implementation in the medium term. The research of theoretical and methodical approaches to the contents of the basic categories and concepts of anti-recessionary management has been carried out. A complex classification of crises of an enterprise is presented. The gradation of the crisis of an enterprise at different stages is proved. The theoretical basis and methodical toolkit of antirecessionary operation of business is generalized and expanded. The structural model of anti-recessionary management of machine-building enterprises is grounded on the basis of interrelations between its objects. The methodical toolkit of crisis diagnostics and a possibility of bankruptcy are analyzed, enterprises of the machine-building branch taken as an example. The analysis of the condition of machine-building enterprises is conducted, the reasons and features of their crisis condition being systematized. The methodical approach to the diagnostics of a crisis stage of mechanical engineering enterprises on the basis of synthesis of financial, factorial analysis methods is advanced. An approach to a choice of anti-recessionary actions based on diagnostics results of a crisis stage and enterprises’ resource opportunities by means of a matrix of conditions is presented.

Abstract This chapter argues that gender-sensitive lessons from recent land programmes and projects are critical to the planning, design and modification of new and continuing efforts of land programmes, to achieve transformative development outcomes, for both women and men. The researchers propose three important considerations for understanding the opportunities and constraints for gender-senstivity in land programmes: (i) the context of gendered land tenure and livelihood systems; (ii) the increase in private- sector agricultural investments for economic growth and national development in Africa, and (iii) the actors and methods involved in delivering land and development programmes to rural communities. Using three recent cases from Mozambique, this chapter explores how these factors shape the interaction between development organizations and local communities creates tension between land programmes and private investors, and women's empowerment in the context of their households and communities. The chapter draws on two locally specific tenure projects and one wider national programme, all of which received financial and technical support from the UK's former development agency, the Department for International Development (DfID). Each intervention aimed to secure customary land rights as an important condition for achieving transformative outcomes in agricultural and natural resource-based development.

Under the conditions of megarisks, the general level of the world economy's instability rises, the number of unprofitable organizations with overdue debts increases, thus, creating additional threats to the financial security of states. In this regard, presented here, research results have scientific and applied importance for risk management and financial security of economic entities on the basis of the control and analytical concepts which cover: monitoring, diagnostics, prevention of crisis situations, including bankruptcy, corporate fraud and various other financial irregularities in the economy. Accounting for the specifics of economic entities in the course of analysis, diagnostics, and control over their activities is aimed at the creation of effective corporate fraud prevention and bankruptcy management systems. The conceptual principles of information and analytical support, improved methods for analyzing, and evaluating and monitoring financial security contributes to the development of a common methodology for economic analysis and control activities, ensuring their effectiveness and transparency. The comprehensive toolkit for diagnosing financial security allows identifying the areas of increased bankruptcy risks, fraudulent actions or ineffective business management; and unifies the control process, thereby reducing labor intensity and improving the quality of control measures.

Public health, affecting the operations of the entity and its environment, plays an important role in the concept of sustainable development. Health condition affects the quality of life of the individual thus the condition of the economy. Taking into consideration the complex relationship of public health and the concept of Sustainable Development Goals, the analysis seems to be fully justified. The aim of the analysis is to determine challenges and opportunities of the sustainability of selected United Nations Member States healthcare sectors. Particular emphasis in the analysis was placed on the situation of the Polish sector against the background of the analyzed countries. The analysis was based on the Sustainable Development Goals and was carried out using one of the MCDA method.

This paper presents a cost benefit analysis for wind turbine condition monitoring systems. It is widely acknowledged that performing proactive maintenance actions can reduce the number and severity of wind turbine failures. However, the use of condition monitoring systems to determine the health of the system is often viewed as costly and of little financial benefit. In this analysis the increased costs associated with condition monitoring were offset by the positive effect of early fault detection, with faults being detected before they reach a critical stage. The continual growth in turbine output and the emergence of far-offshore wind farm sites make the economic case for cost of energy reduction from timely and accurate fault detection ever stronger. An assessment of the capability of the monitoring system was undertaken through allowance for the true to false condition monitoring detection ratio and the ability of the system to detect the severity of a fault. The analysis also compared onshore and offshore assets where the access availability can severely influence the downtime. The results show a clear financial justification for wind turbine condition monitoring and indicate the successful detection ratio required before a condition monitoring system can offer a financial benefit.

The need to control the risk that accompanies businesses in their day- to-day operations, and at the same time changing economic conditions make risk management an almost indispensable element of economic life. Selection of the main aspects of the selected phases of the risk management process: risk identification and risk assessment are related to their direct relationship with the subject matter (risk identification to be managed; risk analysis leading to the establishment of a risk hierarchy, and, consequently, the definition of risk control’ methods) and its purpose (bringing the risk to acceptable level). It is impossible to identify the basic patterns of development of the oil and gas industry without exploring the relationship between economic processes and enterprise risks. The latter are subject to simulation, and based on models it is possible to determine with certain probability whether there have been qualitative and quantitative changes in the processes, in their mutual influence on each other, etc. The work is devoted to exploring the possibilities of applying the Granger test to examine the causal relationship between the risks and obligations of oil and gas companies. The analysis is based on statistical tests and the use of linear regression models.

The economic burden of breast cancer for women under 50 in the United States remains largely unexplored, in part because young women make up a small proportion of breast cancer cases overall. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted a web-based survey to compare data from breast cancer survivors 18–39 years of age at first diagnosis and 40–49 years of age at first diagnosis. We administered a survey to a national convenience sample of 416 women who were 18–49 years of age at the time of their breast cancer diagnosis. We analyzed factors associated with financial decline using multivariate regression. Survivors 18–39 years of age at first diagnosis were more likely to report Stage II–IV breast cancer (P<0.01). They also quit their jobs more often (14.6%) than older survivors (4.4%; P<0.01) and faced more job performance issues (55.7% and 42.8%, respectively; P=0.02). For respondents in both groups, financial decline was more likely if the survivor had at least one comorbid condition (odds ratios: 2.36–3.21) or was diagnosed at Stage II–IV breast cancer (odds ratios: 2.04–3.51).
