L'absorption d'hydrogène dans les sites interstitiels des métaux se situe au cœur de problématiques majeures comme la fragilisation des alliages ou le stockage de l'hydrogène à des fins énergétiques. En effet, ce phénomène modifie les propriétés physico-chimiques du métal hôte et peut conduire à la formation de composés ordonnés MHy appelés hydrures. Dans ce cadre, la méthode de modélisation Calphad (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) constitue un outil pertinent pour comprendre et prédire le comportement des métaux et alliages en présence d'hydrogène. Toutefois, il n'existe pas de base de données Calphad centrée sur l'hydrogène, permettant de calculer des équilibres de phases dans des systèmes multi-constituants (ternaires, quaternaires…).Ainsi, la présente thèse est consacrée à l'étude de systèmes binaires métal-hydrogène (M-H), par une approche modélisatrice multi-échelle. Ces systèmes binaires représentent la première étape à la conception d'une telle base de données Calphad. Tout d’abord, des calculs DFT (Density Functional Theory) systématiques ont été réalisés pour 31 systèmes binaires M-H considérant 30 structures cristallographiques potentielles, soit 30 × 31 = 930 hydrures, stables ou métastables. Cette approche de criblage a permis notamment de déterminer les enthalpies de formation à 0 K, données d’entrée essentielles de la méthode Calphad. De nouveaux hydrures n'ayant jamais été observés expérimentalement ont été prédits à haute pression (TaH2, ZrH3…).Puis, des calculs de phonon dans l'approximation harmonique ont été réalisés sur les hydrures les plus stables. D’une part, ils permettent de corriger les enthalpies de formation issues de la DFT, en tenant compte de l'énergie et de l'entropie dues aux vibrations des atomes, non négligeables pour l'atome léger d'hydrogène. D’autre part, une étude à grande échelle a porté sur les modifications de l'enthalpie libre de formation résultant de la substitution de l'hydrogène par ses isotopes, dit « effet isotopique ». Des prédictions ont pu être réalisées sur la nature de cet effet en fonction de la température. De plus, pour étudier l'insertion aléatoire des atomes d'hydrogène en solution solide, nous avons utilisé des méthodes de thermodynamique statistique : CVM (Cluster Variation Method) et simulation de Monte-Carlo. Ces méthodes ont été implémentées dans des codes de calcul, appliqués aux métaux cubiques faces centrées (cfc) et cubiques centrés (cc). Les données d'entrée de ces codes sont les énergies associées aux interactions locales entre atomes plus proches voisins. Elles sont fournies par la CEM (Cluster Expansion Method) couplée à la DFT. Une étude comparée des systèmes Ni-H et Pd-H a mis en évidence les spécificités des comportements thermodynamiques des solutions solides interstitielles de chacun de ces systèmes. Par ailleurs, la pression en dihydrogène constitue un paramètre important car de nombreux hydrures ne se forment qu'à très haute pression. Afin d'améliorer la précision des modèles Calphad à pression élevée, le modèle de Lu et al. a été appliqué aux phases condensées des systèmes Ni-H, Rh-H et Mg-H. Ce modèle permet de déterminer la contribution à l'enthalpie libre du travail des forces de pression, en admettant en entrée aussi bien des calculs de phonon quasi-harmoniques que des données expérimentales. Enfin, la modélisation Calphad complète du système Ni-H a été réalisée en intégrant le modèle de Lu et al. L'enthalpie de formation calculée par DFT et l'enthalpie de mélange déterminée par CEM ont également été utilisées en données d'entrée, en complément des données expérimentales disponibles<br>Hydrogen absorption in the interstitial sites of metals is crucial for major issues such as alloy embrittlement or hydrogen storage for energy applications. This phenomenon modifies the physicochemical properties of the host metal and may lead to the formation of ordered MHy compounds called hydrides. Within this framework, the Calphad modeling method (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) is a relevant tool for understanding and predicting the behavior of metals and alloys in the presence of hydrogen. However, there is no Calphad database centered on hydrogen for calculating phase equilibria in multi-constituent systems (ternary, quaternary…).The present thesis proposes to use a multi-scale modeling approach to study metal-hydrogen (M-H) binary systems, which are the first step in designing such a Calphad database. First, systematic DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations were carried out for 31 binary M-H systems considering 30 potential crystal structures, resulting in 30 × 31 = 930 hydrides, stable or metastable. This high throughput approach allowed in particular to determine the enthalpies of formation at 0 K, which represent important input data for the Calphad method. New hydrides that have never been experimentally observed could be predicted at high pressure (TaH2, ZrH3 ...).Then, phonon calculations in the harmonic approximation were performed on the most stable hydrides. They allow, on the one hand, to correct the DFT calculated enthalpies of formation by considering the energy and entropy due to the atom vibrations, which are not negligible for the light hydrogen atom. On the other hand, a large-scale study focused on the modification of the free energy of formation due to hydrogen substitution by its isotopes, known as "isotopic effect". Predictions were made on the nature of this effect as function of temperature. Moreover, the random insertion of hydrogen atoms in solid solution was studied using statistical thermodynamic methods: CVM (Cluster Variation Method) and Monte-Carlo simulation. These methods have been implemented in calculation codes, applied to face centered cubic (fcc) and body-centered cubic (bcc) metals. The input data are the interactions energies between nearest neighbor atoms. They are provided by the CEM (Cluster Expansion Method) coupled with DFT calculations. A comparative study of the Ni-H and Pd-H systems revealed the specificities of the thermodynamic behaviors of both solid interstitial solutions. Furthermore, dihydrogen pressure is an important parameter because many hydrides form only at very high pressure. To improve the Calphad model accuracy at high pressure, the model of Lu et al. was applied to the condensed phases of the Ni-H, Rh-H and Mg-H systems. This model allows to determine the contribution to the free enthalpy due to the pressure force work. The input data may be both quasi-harmonic phonon calculation results and experimental data. Finally, a comprehensive Calphad model of the Ni-H system was carried out by integrating the model of Lu et al. The DFT enthalpy of formation and the mixing enthalpy determined by CEM were used as input data, to complement the available experimental data

The objective of this dissertation is to suggest the structure of new IS in the company, to suit the recent data flows, and simultaneously to satisfy the needs of the user. According to the suggestions and concepts mentioned in the thesis, it should be possible to pre – set a completely functional IS.

The research reported in this thesis is an extension and application of the results first introduced by the Procedural Approach to the Evaluation of Software Development Methodologies. The evaluation procedure offers a unique perspective based on the philosophy that a software development methodology should espouse a set of objectives that are achieved by employing certain U principles throughout the software development process, such that the products generated possess certain attributes deemed desirable. Further, definite linkages exist between objectives and principles, and principles and attributes. The work described herein adopts the perspective offered by the evaluation procedure and applies a critical analysis to the process-product relationships in DoD-STD-2l67 and DoD-STD-2l68. In support of the analysis, Augmented Data Flow Diagrams are introduced as an effective tool for concisely capturing the information in both standards. The results of the analysis offer a deeper insight into the requirements for defense system software development, such that one is able to better understand the development process, and more intelligently assess the quality of the software and documentation produced.<br>Master of Science

Latex polymers serve as binders in a wide range of architectural paints and coatings. A latex is an aqueous colloidal dispersion of polymer particles that when dried above the polymer’s film formation temperature coalesces into a dry polymer film (Dragnevski, Routh, Murray, & Donald, 2010). The other main components of paint include associative thickeners, surfactants, pigments and fillers with the thickener being the primary area of focus for this study. The relatively simple system of latex, associative thickener and surfactant has been studied extensively. These studies have shown the mechanism of thickening for the associative thickener, and surfactant effects on both latex and thickener; however, there are few studies conducted for a fully-formulated system. The introduction of pigments, fillers, coalescing aids, functional amines, and other additives greatly increases the difficulty of research in this area. The addition of many additives ultimately affects the stability and physical properties of the end-product. Phase separation of the paints, also called syneresis, is a major concern of paint formulators because paints need to be as stable when left sitting in a paint-can for an extended period of time. The goal of this project is to essentially probe the areas of phase separation for some hydrophobically modified ethoxylated urethane (HEUR) thickened paint systems that are very similar to commercially used paint formulations. The probing of these phase separated regions includes the careful preparation of each paint sample, physical property testing, as well as new experimental development in the area of syneresis, rheology, followed by statistical analysis of data. Dispersion phase diagrams (DPDs) were first reported by Kostansek (2003) in a simple system of HEUR thickener, surfactant, and latex. They are a plot of the three possible dispersion states for an associative thickened system. These states include bridging flocculation which occurs at low levels of HEUR in which 50% or less of the latex particle surface is covered by the associative thickener. The second state is a good dispersion, which does not show any signs of flocculation. The third state is a mode of flocculation called depletion flocculation that occurs when the particle surfaces of the system are covered mostly with surfactant. The free associative polymer in the system is excluded from the free space in between particles, and the latex particles form aggregates (Otsubo, 1995). The three dispersion phases are then plotted with wt% HEUR on the continuous phase versus wt% surfactant on the continuous phase. The ideal end product for this project would be to use various combinations of latex, surfactant, and associative thickeners (ATs) to create multiple DPDs, which then could be used to troubleshoot formulations and samples in which flocculation is present. Each formulation was made using a thickening package of two non-ionic HEURs: a low-shear and high-shear thickener. Surfactant additions were made after the HEUR in small incremental amounts. Each DPD would consist of one surfactant, the previously stated combination of HEURs, and an all-acrylic latex. Three different surfactants were used in the study: two non-ionic surfactants, and an anionic surfactant. The first non-ionic surfactant was not studied in full as the other two surfactants due to time constraints. Two different all-acrylic latexes were used which varied in the particle size. The first latex studied, Acrylic-A, has an average particle size of 105 nm, and the second latex was Acrylic-B with 150 nm particle size. The TiO2 used in each DPD was surface treated and used in powder form. By the end of the project, 4 full-scale DPDs were made with the following combinations: Acrylic-A and a non-ionic surfactant, Acrylic-A and an anionic surfactant, Acrylic-B and a non-ionic surfactant, and Acrylic-B and an anionic surfactant. From these DPDs the mechanistic interactions of various components of the system could be made. The DPDs could also be used to troubleshoot problematic paints and even hypothesize new formulations.

Master’s thesis is focused on the issue of information systems. Its attention is focused on describing not only the knowledge of the basic terminology of information systems, the definition of the necessary prerequisites for development an information system within the enterprise, but also its implementation and subsequent management. The practical part of diploma thesis is based on knowledge of the theory. Its main section focuses on the realization of information system.

Afin de pouvoir utiliser les nouveaux matériaux semi-conducteurs dans les domaines de l’électronique et de l’optique, il faut parvenir à comprendre leur «structure électronique», ou plus précisément le positionnement des niveaux d’énergie des électrons impliqués dans l’absorption / émission d’un photon. Les propriétés électroniques, sensibles à la composition chimique et à la structure du matériau, sont théoriquement accessibles en résolvant les équations de la mécanique quantique sur ordinateur. Ce travail porte sur des simulations théoriques de la structure électronique de semi-conducteurs binaires constitués d'indium (ou du gallium) et de sélénium, ainsi que de leurs "dérivés" à base de cuivre. La stabilité relative des phases cristallographiques de certains composés In-Se et Ga-Se a été évaluée, ce qui a permis d’expliquer certaines tendances connues et de formuler des prédictions. Les résultats obtenus seront particulièrement utiles dans le domaine du photovoltaïque. Les simulations numériques ont été réalisées dans le cadre de la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité (DFT), visant les structures cristallines d'équilibre et les propriétés électroniques de quelques semi-conducteurs binaires ou (pseudo)ternaires à base de Cu, In, Ga et Se. Les systèmes étudiés possèdent la même structure à courte portée (environnement tétraédrique des cations et anions) mais diffèrent à longue portée. Les composés binaires (Ga/In)Se, (Ga/In)2Se3 constituent des références importantes dans les diagrammes de phases des systèmes à base de (Cu, In, Se) et (Cu, Ga, Se), au sein desquels figurent les phases potentiellement utiles dans le domaine du photovoltaïque. Le travail comprend deux chapitres d'introduction et trois chapitres exposant des résultats nouveaux<br>In order to optimally use new semiconductor materials in electronics or optics, one needs to understand their “electronic structure”, that is, the mutual placement of the electron energy levels concerned by the processes of absorption / emission of a photon. The electronic properties, which depend on the material’s chemical composition and crystal structure, may be assessed by theory via solving quantum-mechanical equations on a computer. The present work deals with theory simulations of electronic structure done for several binary semiconductors consisting of indium (or gallium) and selenium, moreover for their “derivatives” containing copper. As a result, the relative stability of crystallographic phases of some Ga-Se and In-Se compounds has been assessed, explaining the known trends and making predictions. The results are expected to be useful for current works in photovoltaics. The numerical simulations have been performed within the density functional theory (DFT), aimed at the equilibrium crystal structures and electronic characteristics of several binary or (pseudo)ternary semiconductors based on Cu, In, Ga and Se. The compounds under study share similar short-range order features (tetrahedral environment of both cations and anions), differently assembled on a long-range scale. The binary compounds (Ga/In)Se, (Ga/In)2Se3 mark important end points at the phase diagrams of the (Cu,In,Se) and (Cu,Ga,Se) systems that cover a number of phases relevant, e.g., for applications in photovoltaics. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm is often used to model molecular adsorption on catalyst surfaces. The model assumes that adsorption occurs on a homogenous energy surface at specific localized sites with no lateral interactions between adsorbents. This simplification causes some concerns when considering adsorption at higher coverages as species have been observed to have a maximum coverage less than one monolayer (ML), such as O and OH on platinum (Pt) surfaces for use in direct methane to methanol synthesis. It has been suggested that the maximum coverages are due to repulsive lateral interactions which limit coverages on Pt to 0.50 ML and 0.75 ML for O and OH respectively, weakening the Langmuir assumption. For reactions sensitive to coverage it is useful to have a model representation of these interactions and the obtainable coverages. This would require determining the effect these interactions have on obtainable coverages and whether possible hydrogen bonding could allow for co-adsorption to fully saturate Pt catalysts. Thus, this study focuses on the coverage of Pt surfaces with O, OH and co-adsorbed O/OH adsorbents as a function of temperature and partial pressure with particular interest given to full coverage conditions. To determine the obtainable coverages on the dominant Pt surfaces, namely Pt(100) and Pt(111), a Density Functional Theory (DFT) study was done using a GGA-PBE and GGA-optB88 model utilising VASP. The coverages were modelled on a p(2x2) Pt cell which could model 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 ML. The relative Gibbs free energies were then calculated for all adsorbent combinations on the surface with oxygen and water as the gas phase reference. The change in Gibbs free energy upon adsorption was calculated across a chemical potential range of -0.22 eV, corresponding to the critical point for O2 (-118.6 °C, 50.06 bar), up to -3.5 eV. These chemical potentials were then related to specific temperatures and partial pressures. It was found that only full coverage with OH was achievable on Pt(111). In contrast, Pt(100) yielded several full coverage combinations. The generation of these phase diagrams showed a trend of increasing lateral interactions that prevent full coverage with a single O adsorbent species. As shown, by co-adsorbing OH it could be possible to achieve higher coverages through attractive lateral interactions. This weakens the lateral interaction assumption used in the Langmuir model and indicates the possibility of low temperature direct methane to methanol synthesis, around 80 °C, due to the formation of a fully saturated Pt surface.

Master’s thesis is focusing on the development of informatic system designed for the intra-enterprise processes of IJM Group s. r. o. company. The main part of the thesis dealing with the development and implementation of the system is linked to theoretical options.

Concernant la recherche sur les semiconducteurs, la substitution isovalente sur un sous-réseau, qu’il soit cationique ou anionique, permet d’ajuster les paramètres de structure de maille et les propriétés électroniques ou élastiques. La pression hydrostatique externe peut augmenter ou inhiber les effets produits par cette substitution, et, en tout cas, offre un degré de liberté supplémentaire pour varier, ou sonder, les propriétés des semiconducteurs. Par ailleurs, la pression extérieure peut induire une s´séquence de transitions structurales de phase, qui à leur tour peuvent induire une modification de la structure de bande et des propriétés de dynamique du réseau inhabituelles. Puisque les énergies des phases en présence ainsi que les constantes de force sont des propriétés que relèvent de l’état fondamental, elles peuvent être obtenues de manière fiable à partir de calculs “premiers principes” effectués au sein de la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité (DFT). Le présent travail concerne de telles études d’ordre théorique, réalisées avec diverses méthodes de calcul, qui sont, en partie, complémentaires. L’analyse comparative des phases en compétition dans les composés purs ZnS et ZnSe sous pression hydrostatique, réalisée en utilisant la méthode de calcul de haute précision APW+lo (mise en oeuvre dans le logiciel WIEN2k), a permis de préciser la s´séquence des transitions de phase induites sous pression extérieure et de résoudre certaines controverses théoriques, liées à l’utilisation de schémas différents d’échange-corrélation. Le calcul des dispersions des phonons dans l’un des dits composés (ZnSe) sous pression, effectué dans le cadre du formalisme de la réponse linéaire via le code abinit, a permis d’identifier les instabilités dynamiques associées au “ramollissement” des modes acoustiques dans certaines parties de la zone de Brillouin, correspondant au pressentiment d’une transition de phase. Les spectres de vibration sous pression ont ensuite été simulés dans un système mixte, en l’occurrence (Zn,Be)Se, en utilisant la méthode des "phonons gelés" et le code Siesta. Enfin, la stabilité thermodynamique des phases en compétition, zincblende et wurtzite, du semiconducteur mixte Cd(S,Se) a été étudiée en utilisant le logiciel VASP selon la méthode du pseudopotentiel, en combinaison avec le formalisme des structures quasi aléatoires spéciales (SQS) permettant de représenter efficacement le caractère désordonné des phases considérées. Il a été possible, sur cette base, de réaliser la caractérisation structurale complète, et de discuter le diagramme de phase température–concentration<br>In semiconductor research, an isovalent substitution on a sublattice, either cationic or anionic one, is a convenient tool to tune lattice parameters, electronic or elastic properties. External hydrostatic pressure is another such tool, which may either enhance or inhibit the effects of alloying, and in any case offers an additional “coordinate” for scanning and probing the properties of semiconductors. Moreover, external pressure may induce a sequence of structural phase transitions, which in their turn may result in unusual band structures and lattice-dynamical properties. As energies of different phases (needed to construct phase diagrams) and force constants (responsible for vibrational spectra in crystals) are groundstate properties, they can be reliably obtained from first-principles calculations done within the density functional theory (DFT). The present work outlines such studies realized with different and, in part, complementary calculation methods. Comparative analysis of possible phases of pure ZnS and ZnSe compounds under hydrostatic pressure, done using a highly precision APW+lo method (realized in the WIEN2k code), helped to refine the sequence of pressure-induced phase transitions and to resolve some earlier controversies in theory works, related to the use of different exchange-correlation schemes. The calculation of phonon dispersions in the same compounds under pressure, done in linear-response formalism (abinit code), helped to identify dynamical instabilities associated with softening of acoustic modes in some parts of the Brillouin zone, indicating precursors of phase transition. The vibrational spectra under pressure were then subject to study under alloying, in the (Zn,Be)Se system; calculations done using the frozenphonon method as employed in Siesta code. The thermodynamic stability of the known competing phases (zincblende and wurtzite), in the alloy Cd(S,Se), is investigated using pseudopotential method (VASP), where the special quasirandom structures (SQS) formalism is employed to efficiently represent the disorder of the considered phases. On this basis, it became possible to give full structural characterization, and to discuss the temperature-concentration phase diagram

Master’s thesis engages in the impact of polarization mode dispersion on optical communication system. Polarization mode dispersion is mathematically described by Stoke’s and Jone’s space and ensure the theoretic causes of the rise of polarization mode dispersion that are divided on the external and internal effects. On the basis of these effects grow up a differential group delay (DGD) which makes causes that individual polarization modes have between them a time delay and limitation of maximum bit rate. Then master´s thesis analyses the influence of the polarization mode dispersion on the pulse enlargement and on the modulation signal. In this work, there are described the most applicated optical modulation formats. Polarization mode dispersion has also influence on the bit error rate of optical fibre link and closing of eye diagram too. Eye diagram is used to view the transmission characteristics and diagnoses the channel errors. Eye diagram is connected with the definitions as a bit error rate (BER) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) that are explained in this work too. Following the gained experiences it was designed an useful graphic interface to display the effect of the polarization mode dispersion on the transmitted signal. Realization of the graphic interface is created in the program MATLAB. In Matlab-Simulink are created six models according to the kind of modulations with characteristic AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) channel. Program was tested for a typical values. In all calculations it is counted only with the losses that are caused by the polarization mode dispersion. It is not calculated with the losses that are caused by a chromatic dispersion and attenuation. At the end of this work are evaluated all types of modulation formats depending on the polarization mode dispersion, optical fibre length, price and complexity of the realization. Atteined results of my master’s thesis are compared with two foreign articles.

Le travail porte sur les propriétés vibrationnelles de semi-conducteurs innovants, notamment les composés Cu2ZnSnSe4, Cu2ZnSnS4 de type kesterite, qui, dans le domaine du photovoltaïque, soutiennent la comparaison avec les matériaux leaders de type chalcopyrite, Cu(In,Ga)Se2. Un intérêt pratique immédiat pressenti est que les spectres de vibration devraient permettre de distinguer entre différentes phases structurales possibles à une composition donnée. Les modes de vibration sont abordés en utilisant une approche théorique premiers principes. Le manuscrit est divisé en cinq chapitres, dont le contenu est le suivant : (1) Une brève introduction sur le principe et les enjeux du photovoltaïque, les cellules solaires à base de composés semi-conducteur multinaires; le chapitre se termine par une description du diagramme de phase du système Cu-Zn-Sn-Se. (2) L’exposé de la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité (DFT) et la mise en œuvre de simulations numériques via le logiciel SIESTA. (3) Les propriétés vibrationnelles de Cu2ZnSnSe4 dans ses deux phases kesterite et stannite, étudiées par une méthode premiers principes, en faisant une comparaison détaillée et une analyse minutieuse mode par mode. (4) Les propriétés vibrationnelles de la phase secondaire Cu2SnSe3, une concurrente habituelle de la phase Cu2ZnSnSe4 lors de la croissance des échantillons. (5) Le calcul des phonons dans la structure Cu2ZnSnS4 contenant des défauts intrinsèques (lacunes; antisites), avec comme objectif l'évaluation des contributions vibrationnelles à l'entropie, et l'élaboration du diagramme de phases composition – température dans ce système multinaire. La conclusion générale récapitule les résultats, qui sont publiés dans 5 articles<br>The works addresses vibrational properties of novel semiconductors, specifically the Cu2ZnSnSe4 and Cu2ZnSnS4 compounds of the kesterite structure, which, in the domain of photovoltaics, become competitive with leading materials of chalcopyrite type, notably Cu(In,Ga)Se2. The anticipated immediate practical interest of such study is that the vibration spectra are likely to make possible a distinction between different structural phases, possible for a given composition. The vibration modes are accessed by using a first-principle theory approach. The manuscript is divided into five chapters, with the following contents: (1) A brief introduction into the work principle and the problematics of photovoltaics, specifically of the solar cells based on multinary semiconductors; the chapter closes by the description of the phase diagram of the Cu-Zn-Sn-Se system. (2) An overview of the density functional theory (DFT) and of the technics of numerical simulations using the SIESTA code. (3) The vibrational properties of Cu2ZnSnSe4 in its two phases, kesterite and stannite, as studied by first-principles method, with a detailed comparison being done along with a thorough mode-by-mode analysis. (4) Vibrational properties of a secondary phase Cu2SnSe3, which often competes with the Cu2ZnSnSe4 phase in the process of sample growth. (5) Calculation of phonons in the Cu2ZnSnS4 structure containing intrinsic defects (vacances; anti sites), with the objective of estimating vibrational contributions to entropy and the correction of the composition - temperature phase diagram in this multi nary system. The general conclusion summarises the results which are published in 5 articles

Un alliage métallique complexe (CMA) est un composé intermétallique dont la maille élémentaire est constituée d’un nombre important d’atomes formant bien souvent des aggrégats de haute symmétrie. De la complexité de ces composés peuvent découler des propriétés physico-chimiques intéressantes pour divers domaines d’application. Le système binaire aluminium-iridium est un système qui présente de nombreux composés intermétalliques dont la moitié sont des CMA. Malgré l’étude approfondie dont ce système a fait l’objet dans la littérature, certaines incertitudes demeuraient irrésolues, nous amenant ainsi à réexaminer le diagramme de phase Al-Ir. Nous avons également exploré les systèmes ternaires dits "push-pull" Al-Au-Ir et Al-Ag-Ir, propices à la formation de phases CMA selon certains auteurs. Au total, une centaine d’échantillons ont été préparés par fusion à l’arc puis analysés par diverses techniques de caractérisations: diffraction des rayons X (XRD), microscopie électronique à balayage (SEM), analyse dispersive en énergie (EDS) et analyse thermique différentielle (DTA). Quatre nouveaux composés intermétalliques ont ainsi été identifiés: Al2.4Ir, Al72Au2.5Ir29.5, Al3AuIr et Al11SiIr6, ce dernier étant issu d’une manipulation accidentelle. La structure cristallographique de chacun de ces composés a été résolue, révélant Al2.4Ir et Al72Au2.5Ir29.5 comme étant des CMA possédant une centaine d’atomes dans la maille. Des calculs basés sur la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité (DFT) sont venus apporter des précisions concernant la stabilité des composés Al3AuIr et Al11SiIr6. Pour le système Al-Ir, une variante structurale de deux CMA déjà connus de la littérature a également pu être mise en évidence. Les structures cristallographiques de la variante de Al2.75Ir et de celle de Al28Ir9 ont ainsi été approchées, présentant 240 et 444 atomes dans leur maille respective. Les propriétés de surface comptent parmi les aspects les plus intéressants des CMA, par exemple pour la catalyse hétérogène. En l’absence de monocristaux de taille macroscopique, nous avons étudié la possibilité de former des composés de surface par dépôt de Ir sur une surface Al(100) suivi de recuits. Des caractérisations par diffraction d’électrons lents (LEED), spectroscopie de photoélectrons excités par rayons X (XPS) et microscopie à effet tunnel (STM) supportés par ces calculs ab initio ont révélé qu’à partir de 320°C, le composé Al9Ir2 se formait en surface mais également dans une partie du volume du substrat<br>A complex metallic alloy (CMA) is an intermetallic compound whose unit cell contains a large number of atoms oftenly forming highly-symmetric clusters. From the complexity of these compounds can arise physical and chemical properties interesting for various fields of application. The aluminium-iridium binary system exhibits numerous intermetallic compounds of which half of them are actually CMAs. Despite this system being extensively studied in the literature, some uncertainies remained unsolved, leading us to reinvestigate the Al-Ir phase diagram. In addition, the "push-pull" systems Al-Au-Ir and Al-Ag-Ir, favorable for the formation of CMA according to the literature, have been explored. Thus, near a hundred of samples have been prepared by arc-melting before being analyzed with different characterizations techniques: X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). From this study, 4 new intermetallic compounds could be identified: Al2.4Ir, Al72Au2.5Ir29.5, Al3AuIr and Al11SiIr6, the latter being the result of a fortuitous manipulation. Nous avons étudié par calcul ab initio la structure et la stabilité de différentes phases cristallographiques du trioxyde de tungstène en volume et ensurface, ainsi que l'effet du dopage par le potassium. L'étude a été motivéepar des travaux expérimentaux sur la croissance de nano-bâtonnets WO3 surun substrat de mica ; ces nanostructures adoptent la phase hexagonale, mé-tastable dans le WO3 massif. La première partie du manuscrit est consacrée àl'étude du volume. Les structures atomiques des phases hexagonales et monocliniquessont déterminées et comparées aux différents modèles proposés dansla littérature expérimentale. La stabilité relative de ces deux phases est calculée en fonction du taux de potassium permettant d'obtenir un diagrammede phase approximatif de KxWO3 montrant que la phase hexagonale est stablepour x compris entre 3 et 35%. Par ailleurs, les distorsions disparaissentpour des concentrations de K suffisamment élevées. Ces résultats expliquentla stabilisation de la phase hexagonale dans les nano-bâtonnets par l'insertiond'atomes de K de la surface du mica. Dans la seconde partie, une étudesystématique des surfaces, en phase monoclinique et hexagonale, est présentée. Pour chaque phase, les trois orientations de surface de plus faibles indicesde Miller sont considérées. Toutes les terminaisons non-reconstruitesainsi que plusieurs types de reconstructions ont été analysées en terme depolarité, stabilité et structure atomique. Pour la phase monoclinique, l'orientation(010) avec reconstruction c(2x2) est la surface la plus stable, enaccord avec des données expérimentales. Quant à la phase hexagonale, c'estla surface c(1x1)O2(1120) qui a la plus petite énergie de surface (0.02 eV/Å2).Nous trouvons que la stabilité des différentes orientations est très sensible audopage par le potassium. En effet, pour KxWO3 avec x = 13 , c'est l'orientation (0001) qui est la plus stable, avec une terminaison KO3 et une énergiede surface de 0.05 eV/Å2.

The master thesis deals with the development of the tool for risk analysis support in information security. At first we perform a theoretical basis for security development of lifecycle process (SDL). Afterwards the theory of risk analysis based on fault tree analysis is described. Considering this knowledge base system was designed and implemented. Next chapter describes the best practice refer to the typical example of use and presents the potencial using of this tool in practice. Final chapter deals with the possibility of future expansion of this application.

Le fonctionnement d'une électrode positive de batterie au lithium repose sur la possibilité d'intercaler de façon réversible du lithium au sein du matériau qui la constitue. Une telle réaction conduit souvent à une perte de la cristallinité du matériau. Une démarche théorique permettant d'accéder à la structure du composé et à la modélisation de son comportement électrochimique est présentée dans ce mémoire. La première partie expose les fondements de la DFT (Density Functional Theory), et les mérites respectifs des méthodes FLAPW (Full potential Linearized Augmented Plane Waves) et PP/PW (Pseudopotential / Plane Waves). La seconde partie rappelle quelques concepts fondamentaux d'électrochimie comme le processus d'intercalation, les aspects thermodynamiques et les relations avec la structure électronique. Ensuite, une démarche basée sur l'optimisation de la géométrie de différentes hypothèses structurales est présentée. Cette démarche a été appliquée à l'étude d'un composé modèle LiMoS2, et a ensuite été étendue à des composés d'intérêt industriel tels que LixV2O5 (0 ≤ x ≤ 3). Ainsi, pour LiMoS2 et ω-Li3V2O5, les structures optimisées permettent de simuler des diagrammes de diffraction RX en très bon accord avec l'expérience. Ceci a donc permis, dans le cas de LixV2O5, une modélisation des premières décharges partant de α-V2O5 et de γ'-V2O5. Afin de mieux comprendre l'origine de la distorsion dans LiMoS2 et des variations de potentiel des courbes électrochimiques de LixV2O5, une analyse de la liaison chimique a également été réalisée. Ces résultats mettent clairement en évidence le fait qu'une approche couplant calculs de premiers principes et expériences constitue une aide efficace à la détermination de la structure de composés mal cristallisés. Une telle démarche contribue à la compréhension des transformations structurales induites par l'intercalation du lithium dans des oxydes de vanadium et peut ainsi être utile à la recherche de nouveaux matériaux de batteries.

One of the Governments strategic objectives, as reflected in the white paper on National Transport Policy, is to promote the use of public transport with the goal of achieving a ratio of 80:20 between public transport and private car usage, as a long term vision. This is no easy task and in order to achieve this goal, an in depth analysis of the current transport situation is required. The structure and land-use patterns of most of the South African cities have forced the residents to be predominantly dependent on private transport, resulting in high car ownerships. Over the years, this has caused the traffic on the major links connecting the suburban areas leading to the city centres to be very high and some of them have already approached forced flow conditions during morning and evening peak periods<br>D

Ce mémoire traite des propriétés du La2CuO4 dopé en trous, le premier supraconducteur à haute température critique ayant été découvert. Les différentes phases électroniques du cristal y seront présentées, ainsi que le diagramme de phases en dopage de ce matériau. Les trois structures dans lesquelles on peut retrouver ce cristal seront décrites en détail, et leurs liens présumés avec les phases électroniques seront présentés. Il s’en suivra une étude utilisant la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité combinée au modèle de Hubbard (DFT+U) des différentes phases structurales, en plus des phases antiferromagnétiques et paramagnétiques. L’effet de la corrélation électronique sur la structure cristalline sera également étudié par l’intermédiaire du paramètre de Hubbard. Le but sera de vérifier si la DFT+U reproduit bien le diagramme de phases expérimentales, et sous quelles conditions. Une étude des effets de l’inclinaison des octaèdres d’oxygène sur la structure électronique sera également présentée.<br>Presented here is a study on the hole doped La2CuO4, the first discovered high-­‐Tc superconductor of the cuprate family. The different electronic phases of this crystal are briefly reviewed. The three crystal structures present in this material are described, and the link between those phases and the electronic structure are discussed. The relationship of those structural phases with the magnetic phases is investigated with the help of calculations based on the density functional theory where an additional Hubbard term has been added (DFT+U). With the help of the Hubbard parameter, the effect of the electronic correlation’s strength on the structural parameters of the crystal is also studied. The idea here is to verify how well the DFT+U is able to reproduce the experimental phase diagram of this material. The effect of the tilting of the oxygen octahedras on the electronic structure is also addressed.

This thesis proposes a decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) scheme for blind ADC-based receivers to overcome the challenges introduced by blind sampling. It presents the design, simulation, and implementation of a 5Gb/s speculative DFE for a 2x blind ADC-based receiver. The complete receiver, including the ADC, the DFE, and a 2x blind clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit, is implemented in Fujitsu’s 65-nm CMOS process. Measurements of the fabricated test-chip confirm 5Gb/s data recovery with bit error rate (BER) less than 1e−12 in the presence of a test channel introducing 13.3dB of attenuation at the Nyquist frequency of 2.5GHz. The receiver tolerates 0.24UIpp of high-frequency sinusoidal jitter (SJ) in this case. Without the DFE, the BER exceeds 1e−8 even when no SJ is applied.

To what extent conformational preference of short peptide sequences within proteins determine their three-dimensional structure? Large-scale quantum chemical calculations coupled with modern solvation methods represent unique set of tools to elucidate key determinants of the biomolecular structure ab initio. Full conformational sampling was performed on model systems representing short peptide fragments. The computed data reveal some of the underlying physico-chemical principles determining the spatial structure of proteins, and provide very important data for finding and tuning the optimal algorithm that may provide a full coverage of (ideally all) low-energy conformers.
