Abstract:
This article aims to analyze the dynamics of information systems design using a structured model, based on the year of publication, the scope of application of information systems, and the information system platform designed (website, desktop, mobile). The method adopted is a literature study using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The supporting instrument used in the literature study was the Nvivo 12 Plus. The articles that are evaluated are limited to journals indexed by Garuda (garuda.ristekbrin.go.id) from 2010-2021. The results of the evaluation of structured model-based information system design are classified based on three characteristics of information systems, namely: website-based information systems; desktop; and mobile. The classification based on case studies of information system design consists of five characteristics of institutions, namely government institutions; educational institutions; health institutions; profit institutions; and non-profit organizations. Tools evaluated are limited to Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) and Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD). Based on the results of the literature study, it can be seen that the design of information systems based on a structured approach using Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) has increased in 2018 and 2019. Meanwhile, database system design using a structured approach-based Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) has increased in 2019. The most studied scope of application of information systems based on the characteristics of institutions is profit institutions, educational institutions, and government agencies.

Abstract:
This article highlights the issue of the importance of information, the need to ensure its proper storage and use. Nowadays, the question of the importance of studying the functioning of data storage facilities in one of the most common design models – Data Flow Diagram, and data storage (DS or DW) in the whole. A study of abstract devices of this information security model was carried out: types, features and types of data storage, which are used in information systems (relational, multidimensional, and hybrid repositories), from the point of view of using models for presenting data; appearance of warehouses and building rules; Letter identifiers of storages “D”, “C”, “M” and “T” with the help of which the type of storages is determined; features of the numerical part of the identifiers for decompositions of the first and second tier processes; mechanisms that support data retention for their intermediate processing in information systems. Transition of properties and characteristics from physical to logical representation, rationalization of data warehouses by considering the features of the logical model. In the course of the work, the peculiarities of the construction of the DFD and the reflection of the interrelationships in all the component diagrams, defined in the general rules that are valid for the two, were considered. The highlighted issues concern the elements of the diagrams, which can be freely exploited within the borders of Ukraine, as well as the elemental content of the different types of diagrams in the diagrams. The unique functionality of domestic DFD diagrams allows to use a sufficient, albeit limited, elemental structure for construction. Depending on the actual possibilities, the diagrams of the Ukrainian manufacturer are somewhat simplified and imperfect according to modern technologies, but these factors do not diminish the importance and necessity of adequate data protection at the highest level. Therefore, in this work, the main most informative moments of the use of this or that type of storage, the demand for DS, in the field, are highlighted, possible advantages and disadvantages of using physical data storage facilities and features of virtual operation.

SummaryTo perform a requirements analysis of the barriers to conducting research linking of primary care, genetic and cancer data.We extended our initial data-centric approach to include socio-culturalandbusinessrequirements.Wecreatedreferencemodels of core data requirements common to most studies using unified modelling language (UML), dataflow diagrams (DFD) and business process modelling notation (BPMN). We conducted a stakeholder analysis and constructed DFD and UML diagrams for use cases based on simulated research studies. We used research output as a sensitivity analysis.Differences between the reference model and use cases identified study specific data requirements. The stakeholder analysis identified: tensions, changes in specification, some indifference from data providers and enthusiastic informaticians urging inclusion of socio-cultural context. We identified requirements to collect information at three levels: microdata items, which need to be semantically interoperable, meso-the medical record and data extraction, and macro-the health system and socio-cultural issues. BPMN clarified complex business requirements among data providers and vendors; and additional geographical requirements for patients to be represented in both linked datasets. High quality research output was the norm for most repositories.Reference models provide high-level schemata of the core data requirements. However, business requirements’ modelling identifies stakeholder issues and identifies what needs to be addressed to enable participation.

Abstract:
Hydrogen absorption in the interstitial sites of metals is crucial for major issues such as alloy embrittlement or hydrogen storage for energy applications. This phenomenon modifies the physicochemical properties of the host metal and may lead to the formation of ordered MHy compounds called hydrides. Within this framework, the Calphad modeling method (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) is a relevant tool for understanding and predicting the behavior of metals and alloys in the presence of hydrogen. However, there is no Calphad database centered on hydrogen for calculating phase equilibria in multi-constituent systems (ternary, quaternary…).The present thesis proposes to use a multi-scale modeling approach to study metal-hydrogen (M-H) binary systems, which are the first step in designing such a Calphad database. First, systematic DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations were carried out for 31 binary M-H systems considering 30 potential crystal structures, resulting in 30 × 31 = 930 hydrides, stable or metastable. This high throughput approach allowed in particular to determine the enthalpies of formation at 0 K, which represent important input data for the Calphad method. New hydrides that have never been experimentally observed could be predicted at high pressure (TaH2, ZrH3 ...).Then, phonon calculations in the harmonic approximation were performed on the most stable hydrides. They allow, on the one hand, to correct the DFT calculated enthalpies of formation by considering the energy and entropy due to the atom vibrations, which are not negligible for the light hydrogen atom. On the other hand, a large-scale study focused on the modification of the free energy of formation due to hydrogen substitution by its isotopes, known as "isotopic effect". Predictions were made on the nature of this effect as function of temperature. Moreover, the random insertion of hydrogen atoms in solid solution was studied using statistical thermodynamic methods: CVM (Cluster Variation Method) and Monte-Carlo simulation. These methods have been implemented in calculation codes, applied to face centered cubic (fcc) and body-centered cubic (bcc) metals. The input data are the interactions energies between nearest neighbor atoms. They are provided by the CEM (Cluster Expansion Method) coupled with DFT calculations. A comparative study of the Ni-H and Pd-H systems revealed the specificities of the thermodynamic behaviors of both solid interstitial solutions. Furthermore, dihydrogen pressure is an important parameter because many hydrides form only at very high pressure. To improve the Calphad model accuracy at high pressure, the model of Lu et al. was applied to the condensed phases of the Ni-H, Rh-H and Mg-H systems. This model allows to determine the contribution to the free enthalpy due to the pressure force work. The input data may be both quasi-harmonic phonon calculation results and experimental data. Finally, a comprehensive Calphad model of the Ni-H system was carried out by integrating the model of Lu et al. The DFT enthalpy of formation and the mixing enthalpy determined by CEM were used as input data, to complement the available experimental data

Abstract:
The research reported in this thesis is an extension and application of the results first introduced by the Procedural Approach to the Evaluation of Software Development Methodologies. The evaluation procedure offers a unique perspective based on the philosophy that a software development methodology should espouse a set of objectives that are achieved by employing certain U principles throughout the software development process, such that the products generated possess certain attributes deemed desirable. Further, definite linkages exist between objectives and principles, and principles and attributes. The work described herein adopts the perspective offered by the evaluation procedure and applies a critical analysis to the process-product relationships in DoD-STD-2l67 and DoD-STD-2l68. In support of the analysis, Augmented Data Flow Diagrams are introduced as an effective tool for concisely capturing the information in both standards. The results of the analysis offer a deeper insight into the requirements for defense system software development, such that one is able to better understand the development process, and more intelligently assess the quality of the software and documentation produced.

Abstract:
Latex polymers serve as binders in a wide range of architectural paints and coatings. A latex is an aqueous colloidal dispersion of polymer particles that when dried above the polymer’s film formation temperature coalesces into a dry polymer film (Dragnevski, Routh, Murray, & Donald, 2010). The other main components of paint include associative thickeners, surfactants, pigments and fillers with the thickener being the primary area of focus for this study. The relatively simple system of latex, associative thickener and surfactant has been studied extensively. These studies have shown the mechanism of thickening for the associative thickener, and surfactant effects on both latex and thickener; however, there are few studies conducted for a fully-formulated system. The introduction of pigments, fillers, coalescing aids, functional amines, and other additives greatly increases the difficulty of research in this area. The addition of many additives ultimately affects the stability and physical properties of the end-product. Phase separation of the paints, also called syneresis, is a major concern of paint formulators because paints need to be as stable when left sitting in a paint-can for an extended period of time. The goal of this project is to essentially probe the areas of phase separation for some hydrophobically modified ethoxylated urethane (HEUR) thickened paint systems that are very similar to commercially used paint formulations. The probing of these phase separated regions includes the careful preparation of each paint sample, physical property testing, as well as new experimental development in the area of syneresis, rheology, followed by statistical analysis of data. Dispersion phase diagrams (DPDs) were first reported by Kostansek (2003) in a simple system of HEUR thickener, surfactant, and latex. They are a plot of the three possible dispersion states for an associative thickened system. These states include bridging flocculation which occurs at low levels of HEUR in which 50% or less of the latex particle surface is covered by the associative thickener. The second state is a good dispersion, which does not show any signs of flocculation. The third state is a mode of flocculation called depletion flocculation that occurs when the particle surfaces of the system are covered mostly with surfactant. The free associative polymer in the system is excluded from the free space in between particles, and the latex particles form aggregates (Otsubo, 1995). The three dispersion phases are then plotted with wt% HEUR on the continuous phase versus wt% surfactant on the continuous phase. The ideal end product for this project would be to use various combinations of latex, surfactant, and associative thickeners (ATs) to create multiple DPDs, which then could be used to troubleshoot formulations and samples in which flocculation is present. Each formulation was made using a thickening package of two non-ionic HEURs: a low-shear and high-shear thickener. Surfactant additions were made after the HEUR in small incremental amounts. Each DPD would consist of one surfactant, the previously stated combination of HEURs, and an all-acrylic latex. Three different surfactants were used in the study: two non-ionic surfactants, and an anionic surfactant. The first non-ionic surfactant was not studied in full as the other two surfactants due to time constraints. Two different all-acrylic latexes were used which varied in the particle size. The first latex studied, Acrylic-A, has an average particle size of 105 nm, and the second latex was Acrylic-B with 150 nm particle size. The TiO2 used in each DPD was surface treated and used in powder form. By the end of the project, 4 full-scale DPDs were made with the following combinations: Acrylic-A and a non-ionic surfactant, Acrylic-A and an anionic surfactant, Acrylic-B and a non-ionic surfactant, and Acrylic-B and an anionic surfactant. From these DPDs the mechanistic interactions of various components of the system could be made. The DPDs could also be used to troubleshoot problematic paints and even hypothesize new formulations.

Abstract:
In order to optimally use new semiconductor materials in electronics or optics, one needs to understand their “electronic structure”, that is, the mutual placement of the electron energy levels concerned by the processes of absorption / emission of a photon. The electronic properties, which depend on the material’s chemical composition and crystal structure, may be assessed by theory via solving quantum-mechanical equations on a computer. The present work deals with theory simulations of electronic structure done for several binary semiconductors consisting of indium (or gallium) and selenium, moreover for their “derivatives” containing copper. As a result, the relative stability of crystallographic phases of some Ga-Se and In-Se compounds has been assessed, explaining the known trends and making predictions. The results are expected to be useful for current works in photovoltaics. The numerical simulations have been performed within the density functional theory (DFT), aimed at the equilibrium crystal structures and electronic characteristics of several binary or (pseudo)ternary semiconductors based on Cu, In, Ga and Se. The compounds under study share similar short-range order features (tetrahedral environment of both cations and anions), differently assembled on a long-range scale. The binary compounds (Ga/In)Se, (Ga/In)2Se3 mark important end points at the phase diagrams of the (Cu,In,Se) and (Cu,Ga,Se) systems that cover a number of phases relevant, e.g., for applications in photovoltaics. The work comprises two chapters of introduction and three outlining novel results

Abstract:
The Langmuir adsorption isotherm is often used to model molecular adsorption on catalyst surfaces. The model assumes that adsorption occurs on a homogenous energy surface at specific localized sites with no lateral interactions between adsorbents. This simplification causes some concerns when considering adsorption at higher coverages as species have been observed to have a maximum coverage less than one monolayer (ML), such as O and OH on platinum (Pt) surfaces for use in direct methane to methanol synthesis. It has been suggested that the maximum coverages are due to repulsive lateral interactions which limit coverages on Pt to 0.50 ML and 0.75 ML for O and OH respectively, weakening the Langmuir assumption. For reactions sensitive to coverage it is useful to have a model representation of these interactions and the obtainable coverages. This would require determining the effect these interactions have on obtainable coverages and whether possible hydrogen bonding could allow for co-adsorption to fully saturate Pt catalysts. Thus, this study focuses on the coverage of Pt surfaces with O, OH and co-adsorbed O/OH adsorbents as a function of temperature and partial pressure with particular interest given to full coverage conditions. To determine the obtainable coverages on the dominant Pt surfaces, namely Pt(100) and Pt(111), a Density Functional Theory (DFT) study was done using a GGA-PBE and GGA-optB88 model utilising VASP. The coverages were modelled on a p(2x2) Pt cell which could model 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 ML. The relative Gibbs free energies were then calculated for all adsorbent combinations on the surface with oxygen and water as the gas phase reference. The change in Gibbs free energy upon adsorption was calculated across a chemical potential range of -0.22 eV, corresponding to the critical point for O2 (-118.6 °C, 50.06 bar), up to -3.5 eV. These chemical potentials were then related to specific temperatures and partial pressures. It was found that only full coverage with OH was achievable on Pt(111). In contrast, Pt(100) yielded several full coverage combinations. The generation of these phase diagrams showed a trend of increasing lateral interactions that prevent full coverage with a single O adsorbent species. As shown, by co-adsorbing OH it could be possible to achieve higher coverages through attractive lateral interactions. This weakens the lateral interaction assumption used in the Langmuir model and indicates the possibility of low temperature direct methane to methanol synthesis, around 80 °C, due to the formation of a fully saturated Pt surface.

Without assuming prior legal knowledge, books in the Directions series introduce and guide readers through key points of law and legal debate. Questions, diagrams, and exercises help readers to engage fully with each subject and check their understanding as they progress. This chapter discusses the mens rea elements of a criminal offence. There are two types of intention: direct and oblique. A person directly intends a consequence that he desires. Where he instead merely appreciates that it is virtually certain to occur, a jury may find he intended the consequence. This is oblique intent. Subjective recklessness requires two questions to be asked: (a) did D foresee the possibility of the consequence occurring; and (b) was it unreasonable to take the risk? The actus reus and mens rea must coincide in time for the defendant to be guilty. The continuing act or ‘single transaction’ theories might be employed to establish coincidence.

Abstract:
Chapter 5 describes how the concept of quantization (discretization) was first applied to atoms. This was done in 1913 by Niels Bohr, using Ernest Rutherford’s paradigm-changing, solar-system model of atomic structure, wherein the positively charged nucleus occupies a tiny central space, much smaller than the known sizes of atoms. Bohr, postulating a quantized version of this model for hydrogen, was able to explain previously inexplicable experimental features of that atom. He did so via an ad hoc quantization procedure that discretized the single electron’s energy, its angular momentum, and the radii of the orbits it could be in around the nucleus, formulas forwhich are presented, along with a diagram displaying the quantized energies. Despite this success, Bohr’s model failed not only for helium, with its two electrons, but for all other neutral atoms. It left some physicists hopeful, ready for whatever the next step might be.

Abstract:
David Tudor (1926–1996) is remembered today in two guises: as an extraordinary pianist of postwar avant-garde music who worked closely with composers like John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen, influencing the development of graphic notation and indeterminacy; and as a spirited pioneer of live-electronic music who realized idiosyncratic performances based on the interaction of homemade modular instruments, inspiring an entire generation of musicians. However, the fact that Tudor himself did not talk or write much about what he was doing, combined with the esoteric nature of electronic circuits and schematics (for musicologists), has prevented any comprehensive approach to the entirety of his output which actually began with the organ and ended in visual art. As a result, Tudor has remained a puzzle of sorts in spite of his profound influence—perhaps a pertinent status for a figure who was known for his deep love of puzzles. This book sets out to solve the puzzle of David Tudor as a puzzle that David Tudor made, applying Tudor’s own methods for approaching other people’s materials to the unusually large number of materials that he himself left behind. Patching together instruments, circuits, sketches, notes, diagrams, recordings, receipts, letters, custom declaration forms, testimonies, and recollections like modular pieces of a giant puzzle, the narrative skips over the misleading binary of performer/composer to present a lively portrait of Tudor as a multi-instrumentalist who always realized his music from the nature of specific instruments.

FOOM (Functional and Object-Oriented Methodology) is an integrated methodology for information systems’ analysis and design, which combines two essential software-engineering paradigms: the functional/data approach (or process-oriented) and the object-oriented (OO) approach. Having applied FOOM in a variety of domains, this chapter presents the application of the methodology to the specification of the IFIP Conference system. We focus on the analysis and design phases. FOOM-analysis phase includes data modeling and functional analysis activities and produces an initial Class Diagram and a hierarchy of OO data flow diagrams (OO-DFDs). The products of the design phase include: (a) a complete class diagram; (b) object classes for the menus, forms and reports and (c) a behavior schema, which consists of detailed descriptions of the methods and the application transactions, expressed in pseudocode and message diagrams.

Abstract:
Yourdon and Constantine (1979), De Marco (1979), and Gane and Sarson (1979) introduced the data flow diagram (DFD) more than a quarter of a century ago, as a systems planning tool that is particularly useful in the fields of software engineering and information systems development. But the DFD is not restricted to those fields. Empirical research projects are systems too (which consist of interconnected sources, data, collection processes, files, analysis processes, knowledge, and users), and those systems are similar to information systems. This article reports how the DFD can also be useful in planning empirical research projects. This finding should be advantageous to research planners, individual researchers, research advisors, research supervisors, or research managers. And it should be especially advantageous to research planners in information and communication technology (ICT) because they know DFDs already, so they can get the planning advantages with little or no extra learning effort. This finding was obtained from two research projects. The first was planned without the aid of a DFD and failed. It was then replanned with a DFD and redone in a second project, which succeeded.

Abstract:
FOOM is an integrated methodology for analysis and design of information systems, which combines the two essential software-engineering paradigms: the functional- (or process-) oriented approach and the object-oriented (OO) approach. In FOOM, system analysis includes both functional and data modeling activities, thereby producing both a functional model and a data model. These activities can be performed either by starting with functional analysis and continuing with data modeling, or vice versa. FOOM products of the analysis phase include: a) a hierarchy of OO-DFDs (object-oriented data flow diagrams), and b) an initial object schema, which can be created directly from the user requirements specification or from an entity-relationship diagram (ERD) that is mapped to that object schema. System design is performed according to the OO approach. The products of the design phase include: a) a complete object schema, consisting of the classes and their relationships, attributes, and method interfaces; b) object classes for the menus, forms and reports; and c) a behavior schema, which consists of detailed descriptions of the methods and the application transactions, expressed in pseudo-code and message diagrams. The seamless transition from analysis to design is attributed to ADISSA methodology, which facilitates the design of the menus, forms and reports classes, and the system behavior schema, from DFDs and the application transactions.

Abstract:
Many paradigms for system analysis and design have been proposed over the years. Early approaches have advocated the functional approach. Common methodologies that support this approach are SSA and SSD (DeMarco, 1978; Yourdon & Constantine, 1979). SSA is based on the use of data flow diagrams (DFDs), which define the functions of the system, the data stores within the system, the external entities, and the data flows among these components. Early SSA and similar methodologies emphasized the functional aspects of system analysis, neglecting somehow the structural aspects, namely the data model. This was remedied by enhancing those methodologies with a conceptual data model, usually the entity-relationship (ER) model (Chen, 1976), that is used to create a diagram of the data model, which is later mapped to a relational database schema.

Abstract:
Bengkel Vie Jaya Motor is a business unit engaged in the sale of motorcycle spare parts and provides motorcycle service. The Vie Jaya Motor workshop in handling sales still uses a manual system, namely recording every transaction that occurs in the workshop still using a daily sales report book without detailed information, so that making reports takes a long time. With the problems that exist in the Vie Jaya Motor workshop, the purpose of this research is to create an accounting information system for motorcycle spare parts cash sales which can later provide an overview of the workshop in the data processing process. For the method of collecting data through interviews and conducting library research by searching for information through other sources such as books and the internet related to the problem to be discussed with the aim of making it easier to solve the problem. The analysis and system design stages are described using flowcharts, flowmaps, context diagrams, DFD, and ERD. After this, the next stage is the design of the software system. The design of the software system uses PHP (Hypertext Pre Processor) as a programming language and MySQL as database management. The result of the cash sales accounting information system that has been made by the researcher is to make records and calculations in carrying out cash sales transactions for motorcycle spare parts with the cash basis method. This method was chosen because revenue recognition is recorded when a transaction has occurred where the money is actually received or issued. The accounting information system created can also streamline the time of business activities in making sales journals and reports.

Abstract This paper introduces the concept of a process capability matrix — an ordered set of dimensionless parameters that capture information on a manufacturing system’s response to noises. The matrix captures information on the magnitude of noise, sensitivity to noise, and tolerance to variation. Algorithms and equations are presented that use the matrix to compute the yield of a manufacturing system. The method proves to be accurate on real engineering problems for which existing techniques are inadequate due to statistical correlation among product acceptance criteria. The process capability matrix also proves useful in a new type of block diagram of production systems. The block diagrams are shown to be useful in evaluating the effectiveness of feedforward control strategies for variation reduction. An electronics assembly process serves as an example of the algorithms and their use in design decision making.

Abstract:
Abstract Multiple peg-in-hole insertion problems represent a practical assembly class. It is more complicated than single peg insertion since the interaction of all pegs with their holes need to be considered together. The physics of this class of assembly tasks needs to be analyzed, for us, to develop a fine-motion strategy, or to design devices to solve the insertion problems. In this article, we present the geometric as well as quasi-static analyses of a dual peg-in-hole problem. We enumerate all the possible contact-states of the problem and derive the geometric conditions of each contact-state. We also derive the force-moment equations for static-equilibrium states of the dual-peg problem based on the quasi-static assumption, and obtain the jamming diagram of the problem. We find that pegs with different dimensions may have different jamming diagrams. A taxonomy of dual-peg problems is presented. Finally, we propose an approach to extend these results to general multiple-peg problems in 3 dimensions.
