Abstract:
This article aims to understand the concept of holistic education for elementary school children according to John Dewey's theory of social reconstruction. Many parents think that education is the responsibility of the teacher at school so that it makes parents often off responsibility. John Dewey argues that education requires communication because humans are social creatures. Social learning is based on behavior in which children learn new things by observing other people. This research method is carried out by literature study of journals and other scientific works that have relevance to holistic education as the main source of research. The results of this study explain that holistic education is an effort to maintain overall personal development including: intellectual-emotional, physical-social, aesthetic and spiritual; According to John Dewey's theory of Social Reconstruction, holistic education for elementary school children must be supported by all elements, both from school, family and society in personality development in order to form positive personalities in children. The contribution of this research is to provide an understanding for educators, parents and the community about the function of holistic education and to clarify their respective roles.

<p>BAHASA INDONESIA:</p><p>Artikel ini berisi tentang konsep pendidikan partisipatif yang dikaitkan dengan konsep progresivisme pendidikan John Dewey, dan kemudian dikaji dalam perspektif pendidikan Islam. Konsep pendidikan partisipatif dalam progresivisme pendidikan John Dewey merupakan konsep pendidikan yang mengacu pada teori-teori John Dewey yang berpijak pada asas-asas progresivitas. Asas progresivitas berprinsip pada sikap optimistis dalam memandang kemajuan peserta didik dalam proses pendidikannya. Konsep progresivisme pendidikan John Dewey yang megandung asas pendidikan partisipatif dalam pandangan pendidikan Islam bisa dipertegas: bahwa terdapat beberapa aspek kesesuaian (terutama dalam hal kemanfaatan yang bersifat duniawi), dan terdapat banyak aspek perbedaan yang sangat prinsip (terutama mengenai hal-hal yang bersifat metafisik-spiritual). Dengan demikian, ketika akan menerapkan asas partisipatif dalam konsep pendidikan Dewey di dalam kehidupan umat Islam, perlu difilter terlebih dahulu dengan kacamata nilai-nilai Islam. Apabila tidak bertentangan dengan nilai-nilai Islam, maka perlu diterapkan; namun apabila bertentangan dengan nilai-nilai Islam, maka tidak perlu diterapkan (cukup dijadikan pengetahuan saja).</p><p> </p><p>ENGLISH:</p><p>This article discusses about participative education related to education progressivism concept by John Dewey, and then it is examined on Islamic studies perception. Participative education concept on John Dewey’s education progressivism is education concept that refers to John Dewey’s theories that bring up progressive principles. The progressive principles base on optimistic attitude on viewing the progress of learners’ learning process. The education progressivism concept by John Dewey contains participative education principles; it can be strengthened on Islamic education view that there are some compatibility aspects (especially in worldly usefulness), and there are many differences based on principles (especially in metaphysic-spiritual thing). Therefore, when Muslims will implement participative principles on Dewey’s educational concept in their life, they need to filter it based on Islamic views. If it does not contradict to Islamic views, it should be implemented on their life. Nevertheless, if it opposes Islamic views, it should not be implemented on their life (it is enough for them to know it as knowledge).</p>

O presente artigo é uma crítica à interpretação rortyana de Dewey. Nosso propósito é argumentar que as hipóteses de Rorty sobre o pragmatismo deweyano não podem ser confirmadas. Existem diferenças significativas entre a filosofia de Dewey e o neopragmatismo de Rorty. Nesse sentido, faremos objeções a alguns conceitos que aparecem na apropriação rortyana da filosofia de Dewey, a saber, a ideia do fim da filosofia, o relativismo expresso em sua crítica à ciência e a teoria conversacionalista como substituta da epistemologia. Argumentaremos, especialmente, contra a proposta de Rorty, em que o conceito de linguagem tomaria o lugar do conceito de experiência na obra de Dewey. Assim, apresentaremos a metafísica empírica de Dewey em toda a sua especificidade, mostrando a inadequação da interpretação rortyana, condição que nos ajudará a confirmar o caráter não-rortyano da filosofia de Dewey.Abstract : This article is a critique of Rorty interpretation of Dewey. Our purpose is to argue that the hipoteses of Rorty about Dewey's pragmatism can not be confirmed. There are significant differences between the philosophy of Dewey and Rorty's neo-pragmatism. Accordingly, we will object to some concepts that appear in the appropriation of Dewey Rorty's philosophy, namely, the idea of the end of philosophy, relativism expressed in his criticism of the science and theory of epistemology conversacionalista as a substitute. Argue, especially against the proposed Rorty, in which the concept of language would replace the concept of experience in the work of Dewey. Thus, we present empirical metaphysics Dewey in all its specificity, showing the inadequacy of interpretation Rorty, a condition that will help us to confirm a character non-Rorty's philosophy of Dewey. Edukace je součástí nejen školního prostředí, ale i dalších institucí, mezi které se dnes výraznou měrou řadí muzea. Ta mohou edukovat a kultivovat své návštěvníky, přičemž vhodným ukotvením muzejně edukačních aktivit se zdají být konstruktivistické teorie učení. Ty vycházejí z konstruktivistického paradigmatu sociálních věd i myšlenek klasiků, jako je např. Dewey. Představení konstruktivistických teorií učení, jejich ukotvení v konstruktivistickém paradigmatu i jejich následná aplikace do prostředí muzea tvoří klíčovou osu i téma předkládané studie. Hlavním cílem studie ale není pouze představit konstruktivisticky orientovanou muzejní edukaci, ale především vymezit a definovat základní prvky konstruktivistických teorií učení, které mohou být využitelné (nejen) pro muzejně-edukační realitu, její praxi i následnou evaluaci.

Entre os principais assuntos que vêm marcando presença na agenda da teoria política contemporânea nos últimos anos, estão os temas da deliberação, da comunidade e da comunicação. O que os "novos" debates sobre a democracia deliberativa, o comunitarismo e a teoria da comunicação não deixam claro, contudo, consiste no fato de que a "novidade" que apresentam já se encontrava anunciada na teoria pragmatista desenvolvida no começo do século XX, especialmente nos escritos de John Dewey. Com efeito, nos primeiros anos desse século, Dewey elaborou uma consistente teoria política normativa, cujo principal foco centrava-se na questão da democracia. Isso não teria nenhuma relevância especial caso a teoria democrática avançada por Dewey não abarcasse efetivamente uma concepção normativa de democracia participativa ou deliberativa nos mesmos moldes discutidos pelas mais recentes tendências e autores da teoria democrática contemporânea. A partir da leitura de Dewey e de alguns de seus comentadores, é possível identificar um conceito de democracia "radical", "procedimental" e "deliberativa" que apresenta fortes ressonâncias, por exemplo, com os temas de comunidade, participação, comunicação, espaço público e educação. Diante disso, o objetivo deste artigo consiste em recuperar o pensamento de John Dewey, demonstrando o seu vanguardismo frente à teoria política contemporânea e indicando a relevância de sua contribuição para o atual debate da teoria da democracia.

Abstract:
Příspěvek popisuje paradigmatický obrat, který pozměňuje raně moderní východiska vědy. Opouští objektivistický realismus a korespondenční teorii pravdy a poznání. V textu autor představuje pragmatistickou teorii poznání (Dewey) a závěry pozdní fenomenologie (Merleau-Ponty, Barbaras, Ricoeur), která znovu objevuje faktické kořeny transcendentální roviny. Oba směry zdůrazňují vliv tělesnosti na proces poznání, což vede k závazkům, jež významně proměňují metafyzická východiska moderní vědy. Změny, které autor popisuje, se dotýkají jak metodologické, tak teoretické roviny. Na rovině metodologie autor poukazuje na to, jak je rozpouštěna příliš striktní hranice mezi přírodními a sociálními vědami a mezi kvantitativní a kvalitativní metodologií, a dokládá potřebu nahradit tato rozdělení tzv. „kontinuitou disciplinovaného vědeckého výzkumu“. Na teoretické rovině autor popisuje změnu role teorie a význam, jaký v této proměně hraje znovuobjevení somatické dimenze lidského poznání. Všechny tyto změny zásadně proměňují sebereflexi vědy jak na obecné úrovni, takna úrovni jednotlivých disciplín – tedy i v pedagogice.

O artigo aborda o pensamento de John Dewey (1859-1952), educador e filósofo norte-americano do século XX, destacando suas contribuições e contradições. De abordagem eminentemente qualitativa, trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, definindo-se, quanto ao seu objetivo, como uma pesquisa explicativa. Nesse sentido, revisita as obras do autor, bem como críticos e defensores de sua filosofia, para tecer uma imagem de conjuntura de sua pedagogia no meio acadêmico. Situa a obra do autor a partir de duas dimensões: o tríptico histórico do século XX e a concepção de ideia pedagógica que faz jus à teoria de Dewey. Conclui-se que a obra de John Dewey (1859-1952) apresenta posicionamentos e conceitos para compreensão da relação escola e sociedade na medida em que fundamenta uma perspectiva processual de experiência, entretanto, sua aplicação encontra limites em contradições conjunturais e estruturais. Abstract:
O foco deste artigo consiste nos usos dos insights científico e evolucionário na ética de Dewey. Para começar, apresenta-se uma visão geral da ética de Dewey. Salienta-se que a posição dele na ética deve ser entendida como um projeto político que advoga para o uso do conhecimento científico ao lidar com os conflitos éticos e políticos. Por sua vez, esse ponto de vista baseia-se na tese da continuidade materialemetodológicaentre a ciência e a ética. A segunda parte trata da questão da abordagem de Dewey ao vínculo da ciência e da filosofia, em geral, e o valor da teoria da evolução e da antropologia à ética, em especial. Contrário a algumas interpretações atuais, argumenta-se que, segundo Dewey, a biologia e a teoria da evolução não possuem a única nem a palavra final sobre a ética, e que em sua opinião, a relevância da antropologia e das ciências sociais não deverão ser negligenciadas. Além disso, argumenta-se que a continuidade material entre a ciência e a ética destaca a importância de uma deliberação ética cientificamente informada quando os problemas éticos são enfrentados, enquanto a continuidade metodológica mostra como é possível atingir conclusões corretas na ética, mas também, a relevância que pode ser denominada de críticas genealógicasreferentes às crenças morais hereditárias.

O texto apresenta uma crítica a estrutura lógica do empreendimento pragmático ao problematizá-lo histórica e filosoficamente. Parte da constatação de que ao longo das últimas décadas, na cultura contemporânea de um modo geral e na cultura educacional de modo particular, vem se afirmando um crescente desprestígio em relação à teoria e um apelo à valorização da prática, bem caracterizado pelo uso de expressões do tipo “para que serve a teoria?”, “na prática, a teoria é outra!" e “mais vale a prática que a gramática!”. A análise é desenvolvida a partir do diálogo com dois autores da tradição pragmática e neopragmática americana: o projeto filosófico-educativo de John Dewey, e de maneira complementar, com Richard Rorty, que radicaliza o posicionamento pragmático mediante a absolutização da contingência histórica, de forma que a principal função da filosofia resulta em crítica aos princípios e às categorias filosóficas remanescentes na cultura. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: John Dewey; Richard Rorty; teoria e prática. ABSTRACT The text criticizes the logical structure of the pragmatic enterprise by problematizing it historically and philosophically. It is part of the observation that in recent decades, in contemporary culture in general and in educational culture in particular, a growing lack of prestige has been affirmed in relation to the theory and a call to the valuation of practice, well characterized by the use of expressions the "theory is another!" and "practice is better than grammar!" The analysis is developed from the dialogue with two authors of the American pragmatic and neopragmatic tradition : the philosophical-educational project of John Dewey, and in a complementary way with Richard Rorty, who radicalizes the pragmatic positioning through the absolutization of historical contingency, so that the main function of philosophy results in a critique of the principles and philosophical categories remaining in the culture. KEYWORDS: John Dewey; Richard Rorty; theory and practice. RESUMEN El texto presenta una crítica a la estructura lógica del emprendimiento pragmático al problematizarlo histórica y filosóficamente. Abstract:
Utbildning för hållbar utveckling är en oumbärlig komponent för att nästkommande generation ska kunna utveckla kompetenser och färdigheter för att hantera och förebygga de klimatförändringar och miljöproblem vi människor står inför. Skolan anses vara den mest avgörande platsen när det gäller att inspirera, motivera och utbilda miljömedvetna individer. I svensk grundskola är hållbar utveckling inskrivet i läroplanen och skall genomsyra all undervisning sedan 2006. Forskare har dock visat att många lärare saknar kompetenser och självförtroende för att undervisa om hållbar utveckling, alternativt är instruktioner och begrepp för otydliga och komplexa, vilket resulterar i en bristfällig implementering. Tidigare forskning indikerar att det saknas vägledning för hur hållbar utveckling skall implementeras i undervisningen rent praktiskt, eller att de styrdokument som finns behöver uppdateras. Med denna problematik till grund gjordes en intervjustudie där tre lärare och fyra lärarstudenter på grundskolenivå intervjuades för att besvara frågeställningarna och identifiera förbättringspotential och eventuellt kunna föreslå åtgärder för framtiden. Resultaten ställdes emot teorin Dewey’s notion of learning, experience and habits i syfte att bland annat besvara frågan kring vilka metoder och strategier som är de mest effektiva för att forma medvetna individer och i förlängningen skapa hållbara städer och samhällen. Intervjustudiens svarsanalys indikerade att det som tidigare forskare påvisat, att implementeringen är bristfällig och behöver ses över, med ett utökat helhetsperspektiv.
Education for sustainable development is an indispensable component to provide the coming generations with competencies and skills to cope with and prevent the sustainability issues todays’ communities are facing. Schools are one of the most crucial determinators when it comes to inspire, motivate and educate environmentally conscious individuals. Sustainable development is a part of the Swedish curriculum since 2006. However, studies on the field show that teachers are lacking competencies and confidence to educate on sustainable development, or that the guidelines and the topic is too vague and complex, which corresponds with an inadequate implementation. Current studies on the field indicate that guidance for an effective implementation is needed, or that the guidelines that exist need an update. With these identified problems, an interview study was conducted, three primary teachers and four students in the teachers’ program participated to answer the questions and identify potential for improvement and potentially give suggestions for future changes. The findings were used together with the theory Dewey’s notion of learning, experience and habits, with the aim to answer the question of which teaching methods and strategies are the most effective to form conscious individuals and eventually create sustainable cities and communities. The interview study confirmed what previous researchers have shown, that the implementation is inadequate and needs to be reviewed and updated with a holistic perspective.

Nosso objetivo é analisar as bases naturalísticas da teoria da investigação de John Dewey. Primeiramente apresentamos os fundamentos biológicos de sua teoria lógica da investigação. Com efeito, em sua Lógica Teoria da Investigação, uma de suas mais importantes obras, o naturalismo do filósofo defende a continuidade entre operações investigadoras e operações e funções biológicas, sendo que estas preparariam o caminho para aquelas. Em seguida, a exposição das bases culturais da teoria evidencia o importante papel da linguagem na investigação, mostrando que há uma transformação gradual da conduta puramente orgânica em conduta inteligente. Em nossa pesquisa, analisa-se ainda a relação de continuidade vista por Dewey entre senso comum e ciência, e também o padrão comum, por ele estabelecido, de toda investigação humana.
Our goal is to analyze the bases of naturalistic theory of inquiry of John Dewey. First we present the biological foundations of his logical theory of inquiry. Indeed, in his Logic - Theory of Inquiry, one of his most important works, the naturalism of the philosopher argues for continuity between operations researchers and operations and biological functions, and these prepare the way for them. Then, the exposure of the cultural foundations of the theory highlights the important role of language in research, showing that there is a gradual transformation of the conduct purely organic in conduct intelligent. In our research, we analyze further the relationship of continuity seen by Dewey between common sense and science, and also the common standard, established by it, to all human inquiry.

Abstract:
Syftet med studien är att undersöka lärarens uppfattningar och synsätt kring det elevdemokratiska arbetet, om den moderna informationsteknologin påverkar arbetet, samt att se huruvida det finns några tendenser kring att verksamhetens arbete påverkar lärarens arbete inom samhällskunskapsämnet. I studien genomfördes semi-strukturerade intervjuer bland fem gymnasielärare som sedan analyserades utifrån en tematisk analys. Intervjuerna ägde rum på två olika gymnasieskolor i Östersund, en friskola och en kommunal skola. Resultatet visade på att de flesta av lärarna ansåg sig missnöjda med verksamhetens arbete, och att slutsatsen utifrån detta var att detta kunde påverka lärarens eget arbete med elevdemokrati negativt. Informationsteknologin ansågs av samtliga lärare påverka det elevdemokratiska arbetet i en positiv riktning, och gällande synen på elevdemokratin ansåg lärarna att fenomenet är grundläggande för arbetet inom skolan.

Abstract:
In November 2008 The National library of Sweden announced that they had decided to switch classification system from the Swedish made SAB system to the international Dewey decimal classification system, in their announcements were recommendations for other libraries to also make the transition to Dewey. This decision was based on cataloging work with being able to reuse international material, make Swedish material more visible internationally and work with a system that is constantly maintained. The purpose of this study is to examine how DDC has influenced the public libraries from librarian’s perspectives, and if the transition has affected the organization negatively. It will also study the librarian's experience and thoughts about the transition and DDC as the topic. This study will apply the theory of new institutional theory, or neo-institutional theory, on the way organizations are understood with how they change to be more alike to each other, where the concepts of isomorphism will be used as analytical concepts and themes to understand how the changes can happen. Through semi-structured interviews six librarians got interviewed from five different public libraries, who also had experienced the transition from SAB to Dewey. The findings are that Dewey as a system did not have any severe or bad consequences to the public libraries who implemented it, but that it still has aspects to it that works poorly which proves that Dewey still needs to get more adapted to public libraries in Sweden.

My goal in this work is to understand how John Dewey constructed his concept of experience and its implications for the issues of the theory of history. Dewey's pragmatism, whose core is the concept of experience rooted in the principle of continuity, performed a profound and radical reconstruction of dualistic metaphysics. Dewey did so putting up a naturalistic metaphysics. In opposition to the modern (subjectivist/dualistic) way of conceiving experience, Dewey sought to emphasize its fundamentally relational character. In Dewey’s pragmatism experience means the complex process of interaction between organism and environment (natural/social). In this way, his metaphysics of experience became the basis of all his thinking, especially his theory of inquiry. The main hypothesis of this work is that we can find in deweyan pragmatism a theory of history whose foundation lies in its metaphysics of experience whose core is the principle of continuity and that it guarantees us, on the one hand, the methodological rigor of empirical research and, on the other hand, it endorses the role that the subjectivity of the historian exerts in the act of selection and interpretation of the evidence – with it we can accept fallibilism and be at the same time anti-skeptical in order to avoid relativism.
Meu objetivo neste trabalho é compreender a arquitetura de ideias que John Dewey erigiu no processo de construção de seu conceito de experiência e algumas implicações para as questões próprias da teoria da história. O pragmatismo deweyano, cujo núcleo é o conceito de experiência radicado no princípio de continuidade, tinha por meta elaborar uma profunda e radical reconstrução da metafísica dualista. Dewey assim o fez a partir da assunção de sua metafísica naturalista. Em franca oposição ao modo moderno (subjetivista/dualista) de conceber a experiência, Dewey buscou destacar seu caráter fundamentalmente relacional. Experiência para Dewey é sempre o processo complexo de interação entre organismo e meio (natural/social). Nesse sentido, Dewey elaborou uma metafísica da experiência que se converteu na base de todo seu pensamento, especialmente sua teoria da investigação. A hipótese deste trabalho é que podemos vislumbrar no pragmatismo deweyano uma teoria da história cujo fundamento radica-se em sua metafísica da experiência cujo cerne é o princípio de continuidade e que esse nos garante, por um lado, o rigor metodológico da pesquisa empírica e, por outro, avaliza o papel que a subjetividade do historiador exerce no ato de seleção e interpretação das evidências – como ele podemos aceitar o falibilismo e sermos, ao mesmo tempo, anticéticos de modo a evitar o relativismo.

SammanfattningSyftet med min undersökning är att hjälpa skolan att bli bättre i sitt arbete med elevdemokrati. Genom intervjuer vill jag få fram svar på mina frågeställningar och se vad eleverna tycker om skolans arbete med elevdemokrati och hur de kan påverka sin situation i skolan. Frågeställningarna är: Tycker eleverna att de kan påverka undervisningen i skolan? Hur går eleverna till väga för att påverka utbildningen? Vad anser eleverna att ökad elevdemokrati kan ge för resultat? Metoden som användes i studien var semistrukturerade intervjuer. Det användes för att respondenterna skulle kunna prata friare om ämnet och få mer djup i svaren. Studien innehåller sex intervjuer med elever från samma skola. Utgångspunkten kommer från den humanistiska teorin där anställda uppmanas få inflytande över verksamheten då det leder till högre tillfredsställelse och motivation. Även John Deweys tankar om erfarenheter och utbildning tas upp som teori. Han vill att elever ska vara med att påverka i skolan för att förberedas inför framtiden. Resultatet visar att eleverna är delade i meningen om hur mycket och vad man kan påverka som elev. De känner sig dock trygga med att ta upp eventuella problem till lärare eller rektor. De tror även att ökat inflytande ger högre motivation om det sköts på rätt sätt. Slutsatsen är att graden av inflytande för eleverna beror på vilken lärare som håller i undervisningen. De kanaler eleverna använder för att ta upp problem i skolan är främst handledare och rektor. Elevrådet hamnar i skymundan. I och med ökat elevinflytande tror eleverna att deras motivation ökar inför skolarbetet. Men det vilar ett ansvar på både elever och lärare för att det ska fungera.

Syftet med undersökningen är att utveckla undervisning genom att använda undervisningsmetoder som film som ett pedagogiskt verktyg. Undersökningen riktar sig mest till yrkeslärarna inom HR- programmet och andra liknande program som i sin dagliga verksamhet kan komma att använda sig av digital videoteknik. För att uppnå mitt syfte har jag gjort en fältstudie på min skola och för att öka min medvetenhet tillämpat deskriptionsmetoden och kvalitativ undersökning. Jag har ställt dessa frågor: Hur kan man använda film som feedback av en lärsituation? Vilka kunskaper kan en elev skaffa sig genom att bli filmad och därefter se filmen på sig själv? I analysen och diskussionen av fältstudien kom jag bland annat fram till att eleven genom filmning i den praktiska miljön, samt sedan se filmen som en visuell feedback så kan kännedom, tillämpning och förståelsen knytas samman. Detta kan i sin tur ge eleverna möjligheten att värdera sitt eget utförande genom att diskutera med läraren.Eleverna kan granska sig själva, se kritiskt på sitt eget agerande och yrkesutförande. Detta har resulterat i spontana reaktioner från eleverna då de ser sig själva agera

A presente pesquisa, de natureza teórico-filosófica, argumenta descritivamente a teoria estética do filósofo americano John Dewey, em função do seu chamado \"princípio de continuidade\", próprio do sistema filosófico deweyano como um todo. Nessa empreitada, privilegiou-se o recorte da continuidade entre o estético e o científico, ou entre valor e investigação enquanto característica essencial de tal teoria estética. Na observação dos pressupostos filosóficos gerais do filósofo, verificou-se que sua estética se estabelece, necessariamente, em continuidade ao método experimental das ciências naturais, consolidando proposições características essenciais de sua teoria da arte: Dewey crê na supremacia da contingência do processo que é a própria natureza, contínua, cumulativa, em sentido amplo, o que justifica que o ideal deva deixar de ser contemplativo para se converter num instrumental operativo, ou seja, um método experimental em virtude do meio; assim sendo, a estética deweyana deve ser compreendida, principalmente, em seu caráter investigativo, ou seja, em continuidade à ciência; Dewey rejeita os dualismos filosóficos, a metafísica e a epistemologia tradicionais; logo, sua estética desconsidera igualmente qualquer \"transcendental\" ou \"transcendente\" em termos clássicos; portanto, a arte ou estética, seja ela ato expressivo ou cultura, se daria entre diversos ritmos contínuos, nunca dualistas ou hierárquicos, no sentido da busca de um ideal Absoluto. Segundo a estética de Dewey, o valor reside precisamente no ritmo próprio do processo por exemplo: entre tensão e harmonia, comum e extraordinário, real e ideal etc. Dessa articulação ativa entre os vários aspectos em continuidade é que surgiria o ato expressivo, pela experiência singular imaginativa, e a cultura como um todo, mediante a comunicação.
The present theoretical-philosophical research argues descriptively about the aesthetic theory of the american philosopher John Dewey, in regards to the principle of continuity\" within Dewey\'s philosophical system as a whole. Bearing that in mind, the continuity of the aesthetic and the scientific were focused, as well as value broadly conceived and knowledge viewed as a scientific approach, and as the essential feature of Dewey\'s aesthetic theory. Thus, through the observation of the philosophers general assumptions, it has been verified that his aesthetics is necessarily established in continuity with experimental methods of natural sciences, which consolidates a few of the essential features propositions of his art theory: Dewey\'s supreme belief in the contingent of the process, which is continuous, cumulative, and broadly conceived as nature itself, implies that the ideal must cease to be contemplative and thus become instrumental and operative, which means it should become an experimental method in virtue of the environment. Therefore: Dewey\'s aesthetics must be primarily understood within its investigative character, that is, in its continuity to science; Deweys rejection of traditional metaphysics, epistemology, and philosophical dualisms prevents any classical interpretation of \"transcendental\" or \"transcendent\". Therefore art or aesthetics, as acts of expression or culture, should be continuous to a diversity of rhythms, but never dualistic or hierarchical in the sense of any ideal in pursuit of the Absolute. According to Dewey\'s aesthetics, value resides precisely in the pace of the process itself, such as between tension and harmony, ordinary and extraordinary, real and ideal and so on. From this active articulation between all the aspects of continuity an expressive act would emerge, as the realm of a singular imaginative experience, and of culture as a whole, through communication.
