In this paper, we develop an inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items under the consideration of the facts: deterioration rate can be controlled by using the preservation technology (PT) during deteriorating period, and holding cost and demand rate both are linear function of time, which was treated as constant in most of the deteriorating inventory models. So in this paper, we developed a deterministic inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items in which both demand rate and holding cost are a linear function of time, deterioration rate is constant, backlogging

Background Monitoring vital signs in hospitalized patients is crucial for evaluating their clinical condition. While early warning scores like the modified early warning score (MEWS) are typically calculated 3 to 4 times daily through spot checks, they might not promptly identify early deterioration. Leveraging technologies that provide continuous monitoring of vital signs, combined with an early warning system, has the potential to identify clinical deterioration sooner. This approach empowers health care providers to intervene promptly and effectively. Objective This study aimed to assess th

In contrast to previous studies, the paper considers the seasonal and deteriorating properties simultaneously. A deteriorating inventory model is developed for this problem. We also provide a solution procedure to find the optimal decisions about the preservation technology investment, the market price, and the ordering frequency. This paper deals with an optimal replenishment policy for the items having deterministic demand and whose deterioration starts after some fixed time. In earlier studies, it had been assumed that the deterioration of items starts immediately after the procurement, but it's not necessary in most of the cases. For instance, food grains will not start deteriorating immediately after procurement; most of the industrial products also start deteriorating only after some fixed time. Thus, this study removes this unrealistic assumption and considers items whose deterioration starts after some fixed tim

Scheduling deteriorating jobs on parallel machines is an NP-hard problem, for which heuristics would be the ® rst solution option. Two variants of linearly deteriorating jobs are considered. The ® rst is that with simple linear deterioration, i.e. where there is a deterioration rate only, which is meaningful only if the jobs are assumed to be available at a positive time t0. In the second variant, there is a basic processing time and a deterioration rate and all jobs are available at time t ˆ 0. In both cases, we seek to minimize the makespan. This thesis concerns the optimisation of maintenance and inspection for stochastically deteriorating systems. The motivation for this thesis is the problem of determining condition based maintenance policies, for systems whose degradation may be modelled by a continuous time stochastic process. Our emphasis is mainly on using the information gained from inspecting the degradation to determine efficient maintenance and inspection policies. The system we shall consider is one in which the degradation is modelled by a Levy process, and in which failure is defined to occur when the degradation rea
