Abstract:
Summary Anorexia nervosa, which is one of the forms of eating disorders, can be considered as a manifestation of a long and very complex process of self-destruction. Although its genesis is usually associated with puberty problems, it is rarely a rapid phenomenon. It should be treated rather as a kind of epilogue of one’s personal history. Malnutrition and weight control appearing in its context are in fact a manifestation of an attempt to cope with the hardships experienced by individual. Therefore, the anorexia nervosa is not just a problem of weight or eating habits, but it’s a way of manifesting the internal problem of the individual. Its form, defined by the otherwise valid canons of beauty or success, and consolidated by behaviours learned during the use of slimming diets, is revealed, however, in connection with specific personality traits. That is why the importance of people with this disorder, to a large extent, of tendencies to self-destructive behaviour, leading more or less consciously to self-destruction and in extreme cases to death, is emphasized. The article deals with the problem of anorexia nervosa as a manifestation of self-destructive tendencies and the issue of factors and mechanisms conditioning the occurrence of self-destructive behaviour from the perspective of selected psychodynamic concepts, indicating the importance of the issue for the care and educational processes.

Abstract:
The Government white paper ‘Health of the Nation’ set a target for reduction of suicide rates by 15% by the year 2000. Although the document did not make specific reference to adolescence, it is no less important an issue in this age group than in adulthood since, along with accidental death and malignancy, suicide is one of the most common causes of death in late adolescence and early adulthood and there is an upward trend (Diekstra, 1993; McClure, 1994; Diekstra et al, 1995). How the reduction should be achieved is not clear, since suicide is a rare event which is the culmination of complex processes, and present knowledge does not give a firm foundation for evidence-based practice (Gunnell & Frankel, 1994).

Abstract:
Purpose In dual distribution channel systems, integrated channels (manufacturer-owned) and independent channels (distributor-owned) are likely to adopt destructive behaviours. To suppress such behaviours, manufacturers need to implement conflict management systems. The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating role of conflict-learning capability (CLC) in the relationship between conflict management system and destructive behaviour. This study also investigates whether interactions between conflict management systems and CLC improve the overall channel performance. Design/methodology/approach Using survey data from 157 Japanese industrial manufacturers, this study conducted regression analyses and mediation analyses. Findings The results show that boundary and compensation systems have different effects on destructive behaviours. On the one hand, compensation systems with strong CLC have a larger impact, although those with weak CLC can also suppress destructive behaviours to some degree. On the other hand, boundary systems with strong CLC suppress destructive behaviours, but those with weak CLC do not. In addition, this study reveals that manufacturers with strong CLC can indirectly improve overall channel performance by implementing conflict management systems and suppressing destructive behaviours. Originality/value Previous studies reveal that boundary and compensation systems suppress destructive behaviours. However, these studies neglect the importance of organisational capability in the successful implementation of conflict management systems. By focusing on CLC, this study advances our understanding of dual distribution and channel conflict.

Abstract:
Objective: To assess the relationship between lifetime patterns of self-destructive behaviour and various parameters of childhood abuse and neglect in patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) compared with other personality disorder (OPD) controls. Method: The subjects were 42 inpatients with the diagnosis of BPD and 17 OPD controls. Lifetime patterns of self-destructive behaviour were assessed using the Lifetime Borderline Symptom Index. Childhood experiences were assessed using a semistructured interview by raters who were blind to diagnosis. Results: Chronic self-destructive behaviour discriminated patients with BPD from OPD controls. In the borderline group, parental sexual abuse was significantly related to suicidal behaviour and both parental sexual abuse and emotional neglect were significantly related to self-mutilation. Conclusion: Both parental sexual abuse and emotional neglect appear to play a role in the etiology of self-destructive behaviour in BPD. The results highlight the importance of considering the effects of sexual abuse within its environmental context and suggest that the etiology of borderline symptoms is likely multifactorial.

Abstract:
Purpose: The effect of music intervention on mild and moderate Intellectually disabled children was studied in non-randomized pre-test post-test control group design at an Indian state (Jammu) J&K.Method: The mild and moderate intellectual disabled children fulfilling inclusive and exclusive criteria were placed into control and experimental group. BASIC-MR part-B (pre-test) was administered on both the groups. Intervention in music activities using strategies from Applied Behaviour Analysis was introduced sequentially to the experimental group. Children in the control group were not involved in any additional activity. Both the groups were assessed after 6 months (post-test) to find out the effect of intervention. Results: The mean difference between both the groups of mild and moderate intellectually disabled children was significant. In both mildly disabled children, F (1, 2) = 36.937, p = .026 and moderately disabled children F (1, 13) =71.686, p = .000, the effect of the music intervention was highly significant. Conclusion: Music intervention program produced significant changes in the domains of violent and destructive behaviour and misbehaviours with others domains of children with mild intellectual disability. In children with moderate disability, music intervention produced significant changes in the domains of violent and destructive behaviour, misbehaviours with others, self-injurious behaviours, repetitive behaviours, hyperactivity, rebellious behaviours, and anti-social behaviours. Both mild and moderate intellectually disabled children didn’t show any significant change in temper tantrums, odd behaviours and fears domains of behaviour disorders.

Abstract:
The paper presents the results of the conducted experimental studies on three-point bend testing of over-reinforced concrete beams with incremental cyclic load, up to destruction, using the acoustic emission method. In total 3 RC beams differ from each other in reinforcement type, concrete composition and ultimate load were tested. Special attention is paid to the investigation of the relationship between destructive processes occurring during the testing of reinforced concrete beams and the evolution of acoustic emission data registered during the test. The analysis described in the article makes it possible, on the basis of acoustic emission data, recorded during the tests, to distinguish the stages corresponding to the different technical state of over-reinforced concrete structures.

Abstract:
The last two decades have seen rapid changes in many facets of Aboriginal society, including morbidity and mortality. The same period has witnessed a dramatic increase in writing about and by Aborigines and this has necessitated a re-examination of the national “history” to include the indigenous people of Australia. Medical workers in Aboriginal Australia should be alert to the historical forces determining patterns of ill-health. Psychiatry in particular must develop this perspective if it is to participate with Aborigines in addressing emergent patterns of behavioural distress including suicide, parasuicide, ludic behaviour and self-mutilation. This paper demonstrates the importance of the socio-historical frame in the examination of these behaviours from one discrete region in isolated Aboriginal Australia: the Kimberley.

Abstract:
ObjectivesStructural-dynamic model (SDM) of self-destructive behaviour (SdB) is needed for differential diagnostic of numerous features of SdB. SDM is based on an awareness that self-destructiveness has different variants with diversity of psychophysical damage as its outcome. SDM describes whole continuum of SdB variations and helps to differentiate them, to assess risk of suicidal or non-suicidal activity and to do long-term prognosis for SdB development as well.MethodsSDM of SdB is a generalized conception, which is a result of consequent scientific researches. The clinical criteria by ICD-10 and semi-structured suicidological interview were used in all of the surveys. In general, we observed 860 patients with suicidal attempt, suicidal ideas and self-destructive injuries.ResultsOur researches proved that SDM of SdB determine suicidological diagnosis implementing all-round assessment of SdB features of patient using kinds, forms and clinical-pathogenetic types as main categories of this concept. The kinds of SdB are: self-aggressive behaviour, self-destructive behaviour (it includes non-suicidal or psychotic variants) and suicidal behaviour. Each kind of SdB helps to detect pathogenetic mechanisms and dynamic tendencies in development of it. The form of SdB discloses behavioural specification in each case. There are equivalent, internal and external forms. The clinical-pathogenetic types of SdB are: suicidal, parasuicidal, pseudosuicidal or asuicidal. Each of them discloses significant clinical characteristics of actual self-destructive episode (nosology, syndrome, psychological traits, situation peculiarities, etc.). The differential diagnostic of SdB by SDM concept will allow doctors to treat patients more accurately and effectively.Disclosure of interestThe author has not supplied his/her declaration of competing interest.

Of 87 young Indian subjects hospitalized for self-destructive behaviours 93.1% had ingested medicinal or toxic substances. The predominance of this method appears related to the availability of these substances. Also, the relatively low incidence of violent methods seems consistent with previous findings that this community is generally less aggressive in their responses.

AbstractThe aim consists in presenting determinants and types of verbal aggressiveness, bullying and Machiavellian behaviour among Physical Education students. Twelve network samples were collected from four Greek departments (538 students). Network questionnaires were used. Visone software was used for calculating network variables (in/outdegree, Katz, pagerank, authority). Spearman and PCA have been implemented for relating non-network variables with network ones. Results: Travelling abroad for athletic reasons, surfing internet for studies and being inspired from others’ behaviours trigger disruptive behaviours. Mothers’ education level, economic state, surfing internet for entertainment encourage victimization. Students who have experienced these detrimental behaviours as victims or victimizers during school years continue to experience destructive behaviours during academic years showing that such negative behaviours are adopted. Abstract:
PurposeThe full-range leadership theory, and the distinction between transformational, transactional and laissez-faire leadership behaviour has strongly influenced leadership theory and research in the last several decades. However, in spite of its impact on theory and practice, it has a few shortcomings, as, in its essence, it disregards several essential aspects of a leader’s behaviour, such as the dark side of leadership behaviour. Therefore, to capture various leader behaviours, we provide a more comprehensive leadership model named the “complete full range of leadership”.Design/methodology/approachBased on reviewing the relevant theoretical and empirical literature, we propose an extended theoretical model, which addresses the existing shortcomings of the full range leadership model.FindingsFirst, we added a new active and more destructive facet of leadership style named active, destructive leadership style. Second, based on existing empirical findings, we restructured the transactional facet of full-range leadership by collapsing its components into two new distinct facets representing active constructive leadership style and passive destructive leadership style. Finally, drawing on Hersey and Blanchard’s model, we add a new passive and constructive facet named passive constructive leadership.Originality/valueOur suggested “complete full range of leadership” contributes to leadership theory by addressing the gap between existing theory and empirical findings, making a clear distinction between lack of leadership and delegation and by comprising the dark side of leadership with its bright side into one comprehensive leadership model.

Abstract:
In the ongoing debate in the area of critical leadership studies, the nature of leader–follower relationships is a thorny issue. The nature of followership has been questioned, especially whether followers can display resistance behaviours while maintaining their follower position. Addressing this issue requires a dialectical approach in which followers and leaders alike are primary elements in leadership co-production. Followers who face destructive leaders are of special interest when leadership is studied as a co-creational process. This context favours the emergence of a full range of behavioural profiles in which passives and colluders will illustrate the destructive leadership co-production process, and those who resist demonstrate that followers may not follow the leader and still keep a followership purpose. A two-step data analysis procedure was conducted based on the behaviour descriptions of 123 followers having a destructive leader. A qualitative analysis (i.e. content analysis) showed a set of behaviours and their antecedents that suggest three main groups of followers: resisters, obedient and mixed behaviour. Treating these data quantitatively (i.e. latent class analysis), six followers’ profiles emerged: active resistance, passive resistance, passive obedience, conflict avoidance, support and mixed. Our findings provide evidence that followers who resist may do it for the sake of the organisation. We discuss our findings in light of followership theory, whereby joining role-based and constructionist approaches allows us to argue that followers may still be followers even when they do not invariably follow their leader.

The management of challenging and refractory destructive behaviour in young patients with intellectual disability (ID) is a major issue faced by families, carers and healthcare professionals who support them. Often, paediatricians and psychiatrists use various behavioural and psychopharmacological approaches, including polypharmacy. We report on one such patient who benefitted greatly from a trial of clozapine, resulting in less aggression, improved quality of life and potentially huge cost savings. We conclude that clozapine may represent a beneficial though seldom-used option for severe, destructive behaviour in young people with ID.

Abstract:
Abstract Background and Purpose: Organisational politics can have a substantial negative effect on employees’ performance, however many organisations still do not pay attention to this organisational behaviour. In our study, we aim to examine the relationship between organisational culture and organisational citizenship behaviour through how employees perceive political behaviour within organisations. Methods: Convenience sampling technique has been employed, quantitative data were collected from 532 employees in the Jordan banking industry via online surveys. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was employed to test the hypotheses of the study. Results: Analyses showed that organisational culture within the banking industry has an effect on how employees perceive political behaviour. A negative perception of political behaviour by employees, in turn, has a negative influence on employees’ citizenship behaviour. These findings answer previous calls to investigate the destructive effect of organisational politics on employee outcomes. Conclusion: Organisations should pay more attention to the destructive effect of organisational politics and try to minimise such behaviour. Organisational citizenship behaviour, in contrast, benefits organisational performance, and the enhancement of this is recommended through the implementation of more effective policies and strategies.

Abstract:
This article deals with the causes and measures of penitentiary stress prevention as a factor of destructive behaviour of foreign penal staff . At present the problem of disruptive behaviour of law enforcement officers is one of the most urgent. Most of the problems related to destructive behavior of penal officers which are faced by foreign countries unfortunately also exist in the penal system of the Russian Federation. Their peculiarities lie in the specifics of service activities and many difficult, critical situations. According to studies stress and its consequences are experienced by one in four law enforcement officers. Existing research proves that high demands, low control and an imbalance between effort and reward are risk factors for mental and somatic health problems. Often employees find it difficult to cope independently with the kinds of problems that arise in the course of their work leading to the emergence of disruptive behaviour. The article analyses the measures that have been developed to prevent penitentiary stress as well as various forms of psychological programmes. Professionals providing psychological assistance to staff need to pay particular attention to existing psychological programmes aimed at changing staff attitudes in order to prevent disruptive behaviour by motivating them to change their cognitive process.

Abstract:
The fatigue behaviour of short fibre reinforced thermoplastics is highly dependent on the morphological conditions. The capability of simulating fatigue behaviour and damage mechanisms of fibre reinforced polypropylene increasingly interests industrial partners of the presented study. For the morphological analysis both destructive and non-destructive methods such as computed Xray tomography and a combination of polishing and microscopic methods were applied. The determination of the composite morphology (fibre distribution, orientation tensor, fibre length distribution) was assisted by several methods of specific automatic data evaluation concepts. Fatigue testing was done on a servohydraulic dynamic testing machine using a testing frequency of 10 Hz, which is in the range of the real loading in application of the components. The analysis included thermal investigations (IR camera) and local strain measurements.

Abstract:
In cooperatively breeding species, social conflict is typically assumed to underlie destructive behaviours like infanticide. However, an untested alternative hypothesis in birds is that infanticide in the form of egg tossing may simply be a parental response to partial nest predation representing a life-history trade-off. We examined egg tossing behaviour in the colonial and cooperatively breeding grey-capped social weaver ( Pseudonigrita arnaudi ), a plural breeder in which pairs nest separately, often in the same tree. Using infrared nest cameras, we found that 78% of the tossing events from 2012 to 2017 were committed by parents, suggesting that social conflict is unlikely to be the main reason underlying egg tossing in this species. Instead, reductions in clutch size due to both natural and experimentally simulated predation induced parental egg tossing. Our study suggests that destructive behaviour in cooperatively breeding birds can be shaped by a variety of mechanisms beyond social conflict and that alternative hypotheses must be considered when studying the adaptive significance of infanticide in group-living species.

These have been compared with the rates for England and Wales in the years 1979–1985 inclusive. Also calculated has been a total ‘non-accidental’ death rate comprising all deaths by self-destructive behaviour. For certain causes the two rates are similar but for the remainder there are wide differences. The effect of the law relating to suicide verdicts has been described and its effects discussed.

Abstract:
This article reports the findings of a one-year follow-up study of Australian beginning primary teachers’ perceived preparedness to manage a variety of problematic student behaviours, and their confidence and use of behaviour management strategies based on their preservice coursework in classroom behaviour management. A total of 216 primary teachers in their first year of employment located across Australia responded to the online survey. Based on their coursework preparation in classroom behaviour management, the first-year teachers felt, at best, only somewhat prepared to manage disruption, noncompliance and disorganisation problems, and closer to not at all prepared to manage aggressive, antisocial, or destructive behaviours. Their perceptions of preparedness to manage all categories of problem behaviours had decreased significantly since course completion in the past year. First-year teachers were aware of a wide range of strategies for responding to problem behaviours, and felt somewhat confident in using most of the strategies. Their confidence in use had increased for most strategies, but only minimally, since completing their teacher education programs. Issues with current preservice coursework in classroom behaviour management in teacher education programs are discussed, and suggestions for addressing preparation and confidence issues are offered.

Abstract:
IntroductionSuicidal behaviour and drug and alcohol dependence represent two different aspects of self-destructive behavior.ObjectivesWe evaluated the relationship between suicidal behavior and substance and alcohol addiction. It was investigated the role of childhood trauma in these self-destructive behaviors and in the development of the two mental constructions of hopelessness and mentalization.AimsWe also assessed how a high level of hopelessness could affect suicidal ideation and how low or absent capacity of mentalization could influence the development of substance and/or alcohol addiction.MethodsThis naturalistic, observational study included 50 patients (mean age = 46.54; S.D = 14.57) recruited from the department of psychiatry (n = 18) and the centre for suicide prevention (n = 32) of Sant’Andrea Hospital (Rome). Different questionnaires were administered to each patient from February to May 2016.ResultsThere was not a statistically significant relationship between suicidal behavior and addict behavior. Childhood trauma resulted a risk factor for alcohol abuse with a relationship that tended to significance (P = 0.07). Physical and sexual abuses were significantly associated with addiction (respectively P = 0.014; P = 0.033). It was showed a statistically significant interaction between high level of hopelessness and suicidal ideation (P = 0.037). The absence of mentalization was related to the absence of alcohol abuse (P = 0.061). Finally, trauma experienced during childhood was associated with high level of hopelessness (P = 0.005).ConclusionsSuicidal behavior is influenced indirectly by a childhood traumatic experience that conditioning the level of hopelessness. Childhood trauma affected directly the development of drug abuse and alcoholism. The capacity of mentalization was not related with childhood trauma.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:
This paper deals with patients who attempt suicide, focusing on their evaluation in the emergency room. It is suggested that as the actual risk of completed suicide in suicide attempters is low, the evaluating psychiatrist might preferentially focus on assessing the patient's motivation for self-destructive behaviour. Recent studies are reviewed which demonstrate a linkage between self-destructive acts and the status of relationships with significant others. An illustrative case history is presented.

Abstract:
The article discusses the nature and types of propaganda of a destructive nature, the possibility of its criminalization in domestic legislation. In particular, the concepts of propaganda for war (other than national liberation), propaganda for racial, national, religious intolerance, propaganda for the use of harmful substances and substances for human health, and for suicide propaganda are defined. There is put up for discussion a comprehensive definition of propaganda of extremism, the components of which are public justification, mass dissemination of ideas of necessity, expediency of violent change of the foundations of the constitutional system and power in Ukraine, violation of its territorial integrity, armed conflict, war, mass riots as ways of resolving political, economic contradictions, ethnic and religious nature; mass dissemination of ideas of historical, cultural, mental incompatibility of the residence of certain ethnic groups (groups on linguistic, territorial grounds, ideological convictions) on the territory of Ukraine; public denial of a criminal nature, mass dissemination of information aimed at justifying terrorism, terrorist activity, Nazism, genocide, mass repression, persecution, extermination of people on grounds of social, racial, national, linguistic, political, religious or religious affiliation on the territory of Ukraine, dissenters; mass dissemination of conscious lies (by distorting data, fiction, tendentious suppression of data) in the political, socio-economic, religious and other spheres of society with the aim of encouraging, abetting and other types of inducing people to violent actions, other destructive behaviour, which may or has led to the violent overthrow of the constitutional order, the seizure of state power, the violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state, the escalation of tension the emergence of conflicts (including armed) between different segments of the population within the country, between states, between representatives of different races, nationalities, religious denominations, between carriers of certain ideological and political views, to harm, damage to the mental and physical health of people, to destruction moral foundations of society, to mass destruction, the destruction of cultural and historical values, etc. An attempt was made to systematize the signs of the presence of propaganda of a destructive nature in a text message. The criteria for the delimitation of propaganda of extremism, the propaganda of a destructive nature in general from similar content messages are defined. There are some examples of expert conclusions, which revealed such propaganda. Key words: propaganda, destructive nature, speech message, criteria for differentiation.

Abstract:
This article discusses the issue of noise measurements application for the quality assessment of the solar cells themselves and production technology alike. The main focus of our research is the random n-level (in most case just two-level) impulse noise, usually referred to as microplasma noise. This noise was found to be in a direct consequence of local breakdowns in micro-sized regions and brings about a reduction of lifetime or a destruction of the pn junction. Non-destructive measurement methodology as presented here is suitable for testing of a large number of various semiconductor devices not only for solar cells. In this paper experimental measurement of noise signals in the frequency and time domain is presented. Furthermore the microplasma noise behaviour and defect geometry is discussed.

The paper presents the results of an experimental investigation conducted on bricks. Prism-shaped specimens were produced. Laboratory tests were carried out at the Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory of the Politecnico di Torino. They were subjected to static compressive tests for the determination of their mechanical properties and cyclic compressive tests for the analysis of their fatigue behaviour. The aim of this work is to apply a failure criterion based on the observation of the static and cyclic curves to estimate the fatigue life and the long-term behaviour of the brick. Subsequently, it will be possible to give a relation between the static-displacement and cyclic-displacement of the material tested.

Abstract:
Purpose This study aims to identify specific human resource management (HRM) practices to overcome destructive deviance among public sector employees. Further, this study aims to rank the identified HRM practices in the order of their impact on destructive deviance. Design/methodology/approach This study uses the technique of both inductive and quantitative content analyses to identify specific HRM practices and rank them in the order of their impact on destructive deviance. Data was collected from 30 executives employed in Indian public sector via unstructured interviews. Also, Krippendorff’s alpha reliability estimate was calculated to establish the reliability of the content analysis, which was 0.80. Findings This study identified ten HRM practices (human resource planning, job design, training and development, reward system, employment security, career advancement opportunities, performance management, employee participation, monitoring and control, work–life balance) in overcoming destructive deviance among public sector employees. Furthermore, based on their frequency distribution, the HRM practices were classified into three categories, i.e. most significant, significant and least significant. Research limitations/implications Based on the categorization of HRM practices into three categories, this study implies that to discourage employees from exhibiting deviant behaviour, organizations should focus on the implementation of most significant HRM practices followed by significant and least significant practices. HRM practices that function as a coherent and synergistic system act as a win-win strategy benefitting both employees and the organization. Originality/value In spite of the rising research interest in the deviant behaviour in the literature, still there is a dearth of research pertaining to the association between HRM practices and destructive deviance. Moreover, there is no consensus among researchers concerning the specific HRM practices that should be incorporated in the overall construct. Guided by these gaps in the literature, this study identifies ten HRM practices to overcome destructive deviance among public sector employees using qualitative analysis.

Abstract:
The behaviour of the Edam cheese during its maturation under dynamic loading has been studied. The block of tested cheese has been loaded by the impact of an aluminium bar. The force between bar and cheese has been recorded. The surface displacements as well as the surface velocities have been obtained at the different points from the point of the bar impact using of the laser vibrometers. Response functions have been evaluated both in the time and frequency domains. It has been found that the degree of the cheese maturity is well characterized by the attenuation of the surface displacement maximum. This maturation is also described by the maximum of the impact force. The spectral analysis of the response functions revealed that there was a dominant frequency, which depends only on the degree of the cheese maturity. The developed method represents a promising procedure for the continuous recording of the cheese ripening.

Abstract:
The present study assesses the peculiarities and the pathways of self-destructive behavior (SDB) and self-injury acts (SI) in a group of inpatients who have schizophrenia spectrum psychotic disorders (SSPsD). They were 77 patients with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and acute polymorphic psychotic disorder examined in this issue and divided into 2 groups according to the pathways types of SDB: the first group — patients with permanent peculiarities of SDB as comorbid disturbance (Gr1 PermSDB), the second group — patients with impulsive SDB manifestations as secondary behavior disturbance on background acute psychotic episode with imperative pseudo-hallucinations (Gr2 ImpSI) There was a weighty predominance of patients with schizophrenia and hallucinatory-paranoid syndrome in both groups. Patients with schizophrenia more frequently realized impulsive SI exactly with imperative pseudo-hallucinations as the cause of them. Significant difference in motivation of SDB and SI was found in different groups. In Gr1 PermSDB the main motivation was psychological problems associated with mental illness, social and interpersonal problems, while in Gr2 ImpSI the exclusive reason of SI was «command» to do it under influence of imperative pseudo-hallucinations. The psychometric results (the Plutchik’s impulsivity scale) revealed a much higher level of impulsivity in Gr1 PermSDB. Results confirmed that fundamentally diverse pathways for SDB manifestation and dynamic of it, also SI motivation exist in patients with SSPsD. It should be taken in the treatment tactic and rehabilitation course for such different patients. Key words: self-destructive behaviour, self-injury, psychotic disorders of the schizophrenia spectrum

Abstract:
The influence of material anisotropy on the exploitation performance of structural elements is recognized still insufficiently. The state seems to be the more evident if we consider that each type of materials inhomogeneity is not neutral in relation to its properties. In this field, carefully selected characteristics – the kind of microstructure diagnostics – delivers valuable data for the identification and quantification of desired material parameters deciding its usability. A separate problem is a spatial distribution of the parameters, which is an important feature of advanced, multi-functional materials with gradient-or/and layered structure. Further stages of the microstructure diagnostics covering the prediction of material behaviour in exploitation conditions and the estimation of the time of safe exploitation are still challenging research problems. The enumerated aspects of materials diagnostics require experimental data registered for the representative sample and suitable methods of data processing. Laboratory techniques and modelling procedures utilized in contemporary materials engineering deliver a wide range of computer-aided methodology, enabling one to obtain valuable characteristics of material, including crystallographic texture, residual stresses, phase composition, and crystallite size. In addition to methodological, experimental conditions play an important role in the outlined microstructure diagnostics. Both aspects are evident in the case of the identification of a subtle field of stresses resisted in the near-surface layer or in coating-substrate interface where a non-destructive way of examination is demanded. This work presents a selected non-destructive investigation of degraded areas of materials, recognized as critical from the viewpoint of the behaviour of a specific structural element in exploitation conditions.
