Abstract:

Wie können bei der Bearbeitung von historischen Quellen entstandene Forschungsdaten langfristig und nachnutzbar (FAIR) online zur Verfügung gestellt werden? Dieser Frage wird in drei Schritten nachgegangen: Zuerst werden die Grundlagen des digitalen Datenaustauschs anhand der wichtigsten einschlägigen Standards bzw. Konzepte erarbeitet (Unicode, TEI, Linked Data und IIIF). In einem weiteren Schritt wird eine Auswahl von Editionssoftware bzw. -plattformen auf deren Tauglichkeit für kleine Editionsvorhaben geprüft. Die in den Vordergrund gestellten Projekte (FuD, Corpus Corporum, NIE-INE und Juxta Editions) verfolgen teilweise sehr unterschiedliche Ziele. Keines bietet eine ideale Lösung für ein kleines Editionsprojekt, alle haben jedoch gute Ansätze. Im letzten Teil geht es um die Frage, was eine ideale Editionsplattform für die Speicherung von Kleineditionen und bruchstückhaften Editionsergebnissen bieten würde. Während es viele mehr oder weniger dringende Eignungskriterien gibt, ist der Kern der Anforderung überschaubar: die Daten müssen FAIR aufbereitet werden, der einfache Zugang zur Editionsplattform muss in finanzieller und technischer Hinsicht gewährleistet sein und ein Minimum an gängigen einschlägigen Standards muss berücksichtigt werden. Aufgrund dieser minimalistischen Anforderungen ist zu hoffen, dass bald ein entsprechendes Produkt auf den Markt kommen wird.

ZusammenfassungDie eosinophile gastrointestinale Erkrankung (EGID) ist ein seltenes Krankheitsbild weitgehend unklarer Ätiologie. Wir beschreiben im Folgenden den Fall eines 79-jährigen Patienten mit der Erstdiagnose einer eosinophilen Gastritis mit hämorrhagisch-ulzerösem Verlauf und einer raschen Rekurrenz der Erkrankung nach Absetzen der medikamentösen Therapie. Anamnese und klinischer Befund Der Patient gab an, seit mehreren Tagen Teerstuhl abzuführen. Zum Aufnahmezeitpunkt war der Patient beschwerdefrei. Die bestehende Medikation wurde in letzter Zeit nicht verändert. Untersuchungen und Diagnose Gastroskopisch, endosonografisch und im CT fand sich ein malignitätsverdächtiger Tumor im Corpus ventriculi. Erst die histopathologische Untersuchung lieferte die korrekte Diagnose. Therapie und Verlauf Der Patient wurde mit Prednisolon und PPI behandelt. Hierunter kam es zu einer Regredienz des Befundes und einer klinischen Vollremission. Ein Auslassversuch führte kurze Zeit später zu einem fulminanten Rezidiv. Nach Wiederaufnahme der medikamentösen Therapie war das erneut nachgewiesene gastrale Ulkus rasch rückläufig. Folgerung Die EGID ist vom klinischen Erscheinungsbild her kaum zu identifizieren. Zur Diagnosestellung bedarf es einer histopathologischen Begutachtung. In der Behandlung spielen vor allem orale Glukokortikoide eine Rolle. Es sind sowohl Einzelepisoden als auch chronisch-rezidivierende Verläufe beobachtet worden. Die zur Therapie eingesetzten Medikamente sollten daher nur vorsichtig und unter regelmäßiger Befundkontrolle ausgeschlichen werden.

Abstract. Metropolregionen werden in der aktuellen Globalisierungsdebatte als Entscheidungs-, Kontroll- und Koordinationszentren von internationaler Bedeutung verstanden. Sie «bündeln» entsprechende Knoten (hubs), deren Verortung, funktionale Bedeutung und regionale Reichweite die Rolle und den Entwicklungspfad der Metropolregion bestimmen. Frankfurt/Rhein-Main ist erst in den letzten beiden Jahrzehnten in diese Rolle hineingewachsen. Knotenfunktionen bestehen heute in drei Themenfeldern: dem Innovationszentrum, dem Finanzplatz und dem Markt(informations)platz. Im Entwicklungspfad der Metropolregion zeigt sich, daß sie zunächst in nationale Bedeutung hineinwachsen mußten, bevor sie internationale Bedeutung gewinnen konnten. Die Knotenfunktionen der Metropolregion Frankfurt/Rhein-Main in den drei genannten Feldern sind jedoch «ungesichert». Daher muß offen bleiben, ob der Aufstieg von Frankfurt/Rhein-Main zur europäischen Metropolregion Auswirkungen auf das weitere System von Metropolregionen in Europa hat.

Abstract. Bisher basierte die Chronologie des Weichsel-Pleniglazials in Nord-Ost-Deutschland im Wesentlichen auf morphostratigraphischen Befunden und Radiokohlenstoffdatierungen organischer Sedimente aus dem Liegenden glazigener Ablagerungen. Im Laufe der letzen Jahre kamen im Rahmen verschiedener Studien Datierungsmethoden zum Einsatz, mit deren Hilfe es möglich war, die glazigenen Sedimente direkt zu datieren: Optisch Stimulierte Lumineszenz (OSL) von glazifluvialen Sedimenten und Oberflächen-Expositionsdatierungen (surface exposure dating, SED) von erratischen Blöcken. Wir fassen die Ergebnisse dieser Studien zusammen und bewerten sie auf der Grundlage eines prozessbasierten Interpretationsschemas neu, um somit eine neue Chronologie für die weichselzeitlichen Haupteisrandlagen in Nord-Ost-Deutschland vorstellen zu können. Auf der Grundlage der verfügbaren Daten lassen sich zwei Phasen während des letzten Glazials nachweisen, wobei die Brandenburger Phase einen Eisvorstoß im späten Marinen Isotopenstadium (MIS) 3 bis frühen MIS 2 repräsentiert, während die Pommersche Phase einen Eisvorstoß widerspiegelt, der seinen Maximalstand um ~20 ka erreichte. Hinsichtlich der endgültigen Stabilisierung der Geländeoberflächen nach der initialen Eisfreiwerdung zeigt sich eine hohe Abhängigkeit von Phasen aktiver Transformation unter periglazialen Bedingungen. Erste Ergebnisse numerischer Datierungen deuten auf eine solche Aktivitätsphase um ~15 ka hin.

Als Thomas Mann Anfang Januar 1943 im kalifornischen Pacific Palisades den vierten Band seiner Josephs-Romane abschließen konnte, hatte er trotz aller Genugtuung über das Geleistete kein wirklich gutes Gefühl: ,,erregt und traurig“ habe er die letzten Zeilen an das Schlusskapitel ,,Der gewaltige Zug“ gesetzt. ,,Aber so ist es getan, schlecht und recht“, notiert das Tagebuch. ,,Ich sehe darin weit mehr ein Monument meines Lebens, als ein solches der Kunst und des Gedankens, ein Monument der Beharrlichkeit.“ Es waren die Tugenden des Fleißes, der Ausdauer und der Unbeugsamkeit, mit welchen der Autor die Fertigstellung seines Großwerkes den Zeitumständen widrigster Art abgetrotzt hatte, in der existentiell wohl wichtigsten Selbstbehauptung seines Künstlertums. Zu Ende gelangte ein Schreibunternehmen sondergleichen, das für gut anderthalb Jahrzehnte und über den Einschnitt des Exils hinweg die Kräfte des Autors beansprucht hatte. In seinem immensen Zeit- und Textumfang, aber auch im Hinblick auf den mythisch-religiösen Gegenstand und die eingeschlagene erzählerische Grundhaltung ist der Josephs-Zyklus in Manns Romanschaffen singulär und setzt darin sein eigenes, maßloses Maß.

Abstract:

ZusammenfassungZiel: Die Bonner Venenstudie zur Frage der Häufigkeit und Ausprägung von chronischen Venenkrankheiten in der städtischen und ländlichen deutschen Wohnbevölkerung im Alter von 18-79 Jahren fand zwischen dem 13. 11. 2000 und 15. 3. 2002 statt. Es nahmen insgesamt 3072 Probanden teil, die Response-Proportion lag insgesamt bei 59%. Ergebnisse: Eine Beinschwellung in der Anamnese trat bei jedem 6. Mann (16,2%) und bei nahezu jeder 2. Frau (42,1%) auf. Eine kurz zurückliegende ein- oder beidseitige Beinschwellung in den letzten vier Wochen gab jeder 6. Teilnehmer an. Dies entspricht 14,8% (7,9% der Männer, 20,2% der Frauen). Für Gefäßerkrankungen typische Beinbeschwerden innerhalb der letzten vier Wochen gab insgesamt jeder 2. der Probanden (56,4%) an. Bei der Beurteilung der klinischen Ausprägung gemäß der CEAP-Klassifikation fällt auf, dass lediglich 9,6% der Probanden keinerlei Venenveränderungen aufweisen. Bei 59% bestehen isoliert Teleangiektasien oder retikuläre Venen, bei 14,3% Krampfadern (C2) ohne weitere Zeichen einer chronischen venösen Insuffizienz. Auffällig ist, dass bei 13,4% ein prätibiales Ödem im Rahmen von Venenveränderungen zum Untersuchungszeitpunkt vorlag. Demgegenüber liegt die Zahl der fortgeschrittenen Zeichen der chronischen venösen Insuffizienz bei 3,3%. Die Häufigkeit des floriden oder abgeheilten Ulcus cruris lag bei 0,7%. Schlussfolgerungen: Jeder 6. Mann und jede 5. Frau hat somit chronische Veneninsuffizienz (C3–C6). Die Zahlen zeigen, dass Venenkrankheiten insgesamt nach wie vor eine hohe Prävalenz aufweisen, dass aber die schweren Ausprägungen der chronischen venösen Insuffizienz in den vergangenen 20 Jahren zurückgegangen sind.

Wie spannend und lehrreich sie sein kann, zeigt der Historiker Lothar Machtan in einem äußerst lesenswerten Aufsatz über das Memoirenwerk des letzten kaiserlichen Kanzlers. Max von Baden und sein engster Berater Kurt Hahn scheiterten zweimal mit ihrem Versuch, das Image des Prinzen als Totengräber der Monarchie durch aufwändige Selbstmythografie zu korrigieren - zum ersten Mal in der Weimarer Republik, als die Erinnerungen gewogen und als zu leicht befunden wurden, und zum zweiten Mal Ende der 1960er Jahre, obwohl kein geringerer als Golo Mann die Neuauflage besorgte. Als seriöse Geschichtsschreibung getarnte Geschichtspolitik hatte nun erst recht keine Chance mehr. Das Vetorecht der Quellen wog ebenso schwer wie das kritische Urteil der Historiker, die ihrem Ruf als unbestechliche Instanz alle Ehre machten.

Vor einem feministischen Hintergrund greift sie auf Christina von Brauns Arbeit zu anorektischen Frauen zurück, die die Anorexie als Auflehnung gegen die kulturelle Form von Weiblichkeit versteht. Könnte die Zunahme transsexuellen Begehrens von jungen Transmännern heute ähnlich verstanden werden, nämlich als Verwerfung von Weiblichkeit in einer Gesellschaft, in der Frauen nach wie vor der Zugang zur (Definitions-)Macht massiv erschwert wird?

During the last Ice Age. the Würm or Weichsel Glaciation, the maximum extent of the glaciers occurred at the end of the Ice Age, as late as 20.000 years ago. Abstract:

The Pauline epistle known as Philemon is generally understood to be a letter written by Paul to a slaveowner on behalf of the runaway slave Onesimus requesting that the latter be allowed to return without penalty to the household in which he served. This article proposes a new interpretation of the letter that differs from the traditional in four major points: (1) the letter is written to a church, a congregation of which the individual addressed in the main body of the letter is a member; it is not a personal letter. (2) the slave Onesimus is with Paul in prison because he was sent there by the individual addressed in the main body of the letter (probably Archippus) on behalf of the Colossae church; Onesimus did not run away. (3) Paul writes to request that Onesimus be released from his obligations in Colossae in order that he might remain with Paul to work in the church in a Christian ministry. (4) Paul makes clear that Onesimus is no longer to be considered a slave within the Christian community, and separately suggests Onesimus be manumitted.

AbstractThe aim of this paper is to promote an explicit and active development of digital-lexicographical competence in foreign language teaching. The results of two online surveys conducted as part of the research project DICONALE-COMBIDIGILEX in connection with the teaching and learning process of German as a foreign language (= DaF) provide a comparative insight into the behaviour and attitude of both teachers and learners of DaF on the topic “Use of lexicographical resources in the process of DaF-acquisition”. The evaluation of the surveys shows, that the digital-lexicographical competences in the process of DaF-acquisition must be promoted more intensively, since the existing lexicographic offer is not optimally used for teaching purposes both on the part of the teachers and on the part of the learners. To this end, the following three main lexicographical competences will be examined from a methodological-didactic and application-oriented perspective: (i) Adequate selection of the electronic resource regarding the communicative situation, (ii) development of disambiguation strategies for reception in L2 or translation from L2 and (iii) development of strategies for production and translation into L2. Zusammenfassung Gegenstand und Ziel: Das afrikanische Spitzmaulnashorn gehört zu den vom Aussterben bedrohten Tierarten. In Deutschland gibt es fünf Zoos, die diese Tierart halten, jedoch nicht in jedem Zoo wird erfolgreich gezüchtet. So fand im Magdeburger Zoo die letzte Geburt im Dezember 2005 statt. Seitdem konnten keine Deckakte mehr beobachtet werden. Während des Baus einer neuen Nashornanlage, die den Tieren durch die großzügigen Außenanlagen ein weitestgehend natürliches Paarungsverhalten ermöglicht, wurde der Reproduktionsstatus der Kühe untersucht und eine hormonelle Behandlung durchgeführt. Material und Methoden: Von zwei Spitzmaulnashornkühen (Diceros bicornis michaeli; „Mana“, 30 Jahre, und „Maleika“, 17 Jahre) wurden ab 2009 in regelmäßigen Abständen Kotproben gesammelt und die Konzentrationen von Pregnandiolglucuronid (PdG) mittels Enzym immunoassay und die von Östradiol mit Radioimmunoassay bestimmt. Nach der Auswertung der Hormonprofile wurden beide Tiere am Ende der PdG-dominierten Phase über 12 Tage mit Regumate® Equine, einem synthetischen Progesteron, behandelt. Ergebnisse: Die Nashornkuh „Mana“ ließ sich 11 Tage nach dem Absetzen des Medikaments decken und brachte im Dezember 2011 ein gesundes Kalb zur Welt. Bei „Maleika“ fand 13 Tage nach Behandlungsende ein Deckakt statt. Dem schlossen sich in der Folgezeit zwei weitere Kopulationen an. Ihr erstes Kalb wurde im Juli 2012 geboren. Schlussfolgerung und klinische Relevanz: Beide Kühe wurden gezielt mit dem synthetischen Progesteron Regumate Equine® behandelt und in der Folge vom Bullen gedeckt. Bei beiden Kühen kam es zeitnah zu einer Trächtigkeit und der Geburt eines Kalbes. Dieses handelsübliche Präparat eignet sich, um den ovariellen Zyklus bei weiblichen Spitzmaulnashörnern zu aktivieren, doch müssen Zeitpunkt der Medikation und Dosierung genau beachtet werden.
