Abstract:
A large number of the well-performing organizations in the world are believed to have better environments that produce highly motivated employees to attain their goals. As noted in the various literatures reviewed in this study, improved working conditions in companies, such as Dell Technologies and Apple Inc., are responsible for the overall organizational success within the highly contested market. When employees are motivated, they also work towards improving the conditions within the workplaces, so the relationship between the two is mutual. In addition, pay satisfaction, job design, and internal communication of an organization contributes to its workforce motivation, which results in improved productivity for the entire organization. On the other hand, highly motivated employees encourage organizational managers to offer better payment to their organizations, to attain satisfactory job design, and to improve internal communication. Even though this study utilized few articles in the literature review, its findings significantly contribute to the modern literature. However, future studies should consider using more materials and multiple variables to improve the quality and reliability of the outcomes.

Abstract:
Every year the amount of generated data grows exponentially which entails an increase in both the number and capacity of data storage systems. The highest capacity is required for data storage systems that are used to store backups and archives, file storages with shared access, testing and development environments, virtual machine storages, corporate or public web services. To solve such tasks, nowadays manufacturers offer three types of storage systems: block and file storages which have already become a standard used for implementing IT infrastructures, and software-defined storage systems. They allow to create data storages on non-specialized equipment, such as a group of x86-64 server nodes managed by general-purpose operating systems. The main feature of software-defined data storages is the transfer of storage functions from the hardware level to the software level where these storage functions are defined not by physical features of the hardware but by the software selected for specific tasks solving. Today there are three main singled out technologies characterized by scalable architecture that allow to in-crease efficiency and storage volume through adding new nodes to a single pool: Ceph, DELL EMC VxFlex OS, HP StoreVirtual VSA. Software-defined data storages have the following advantages: fault tolerance, efficiency, flexibility and economy. Utilization of software-defined storages allows to increase efficiency of IT infrastructure and reduce its maintenance costs; to build a hybrid infrastructure that would allow to use internal and external cloud resources; to increase efficiency of both services and us-ers by providing reliable connection by using the most convenient devices; to build a portal as a single point of services and resources control.

Abstract:
Field laboratories interested in using the MinION often need the internet to perform sample analysis. Thus, the lack of internet connectivity in resource-limited or remote locations renders downstream analysis problematic, resulting in a lack of sample identification in the field. Due to this dependency, field samples are generally transported back to the lab for analysis where internet availability for downstream analysis is available. These logistics problems and the time lost in sample characterization and identification, pose a significant problem for field scientists. To address this limitation, we have developed a stand-alone data analysis packet using open source tools developed by the Nanopore community that does not depend on internet availability. Like Oxford Nanopore Technologies’ (ONT) cloud-based What’s In My Pot (WIMP) software, we developed the offline MinION Detection Software (MINDS) based on the Centrifuge classification engine for rapid species identification. Several online bioinformatics applications have been developed surrounding ONT’s framework for analysis of long reads. We have developed and evaluated an offline real time classification application pipeline using open source tools developed by the Nanopore community that does not depend on internet availability. Our application has been tested on ATCC’s 20 strain even mix whole cell (ATCC MSA-2002) sample. Using the Rapid Sequencing Kit (SQK-RAD004), we were able to identify all 20 organisms at species level. The analysis was performed in 15 min using a Dell Precision 7720 laptop. Our offline downstream bioinformatics application provides a cost-effective option as well as quick turn-around time when analyzing samples in the field, thus enabling researchers to fully utilize ONT’s MinION portability, ease-of-use, and identification capability in remote locations.

Abstract:
The Covid-19 health emergency has produced a rethinking of education and training systems based on open and flexible physical spaces and remote communication channels; however, socialization processes and virtual relational exchanges are still possible and at the same time authentic. Moreover, the use of telecommunication technologies augment efforts to find a new way to organize educational spaces when it is not possible to share physical space and virtual spaces must be used. Starting from the role of assistive technologies in European policies, this work presents a case study about the inclusive perspective of corporeality and action in teaching-learning process and described an experience done in a third grade class of a primary school in Rome where a teacher used an eye communicator with GRID3 software and tools of Augmentative Alternative Communication with a student with complex communication needs, main goal of this activity was to create an inclusive and sharing path for each scholar done in distance education.

Abstract:

Abstract:
- The article provides a general picture in which to frame the modernization that the Spanish cities underwent between the late nineteenth century and the Civil War, and its consequences on the form of the development of several second industrialization infrastructures. The objective is to present a succinct global synthesis on the first third of the twentieth century, a period in which a remarkable take-off of the Spanish urbanmetropolitan phenomenon took place, as a result of a socio-economic development that stimulated the building of several urban equipment. The paper aims at providing a framework to better understand some case studies, which have been applied to the analysis of the financing of municipal treasuries, the influence of trams on urban growth and morphology, the location of water supply companies and their impact, the construction of the telephone network, and the repercussions of the transformation in demographic patterns on the national urban system. In conclusion, the rhythm of implementation of new technologies did not involve any significant delay as to other European countries, which lets us question traditional interpretations of the alleged Spanish failure in terms of modernization during those.

Information professionals are increasingly required to perform technical duties dealing with new technologies. Training them to cope with the extended responsibilities has become a challenging task for the library and informationstudies programs. A systematic approach to conveying the IT (Information Technology) knowledge base to professionals has been suggested here based on a modified version of an educational taxonomy in the cognitive domain. Two continua are constructed dealing with hardware and software knowledge bases. The software continuum consists of three Levels: Application, Analysis/Synthesis and Evaluation/Creation. The hardware continuum is slightly different: Comprehension, Application and Synthesis/Evaluation. The depth of the knowledge base and competency level increases with each level. The continua may be used as guidelines to design a comprehensive curriculum in the IT area. The outcome of the continua may result in an IT curriculum with eight courses or modules, four of which should be required and four optional.

Abstract:
Today’s educational systems deal with several elements of complexity resulting from the rapid transformations of contemporary society. Employability and professional skills have evolved considerably since the beginning of the 21st century, with an emphasis on creativity, design, and engineering processes. Teachers are therefore required to redesign teaching and learning pathways, emphasizing flexible and microlearning-oriented design and competence-based didactics that effectively integrates technology. This paper aims to reflect on the contribution of Maker Education within the emerging complexity, analyzing an experience conducted in light of three fundamental principles of Berthoz’s theory of semplexity: modularity, redundancy, and deviation. The experience provided teachers with the opportunity to revise their own practices and posture towards new technologies. At the same time, the experience allowed us to impact on the students’ life skills by soliciting the three competence areas outlined in the 2020 LifeComp Framework.

Abstract:
This article proposes a reflection on the development of an educational model to promote creative thinking skills specifically addressed to students who are preparing for teaching professions. The reasons underlying this interest are related to recognizing: (1) creativity, also in light of the development of technologies, as one of the most requested and rewarded skills compared to the professional scenarios that are taking shape; (2) the centrality that future professionals working in school institutions have in forming global citizens who are able to move in a world that is constantly changing, helping to make it more inclusive, socially cohesive, sustainable and productive. A practice-based, cultural, and distributed perspective is adopted to the study of creativity that assumes it both as a social, cultural and contextualized process and as a set of skills implemented through discursive and collaborative constructions of tasks, solutions and innovations within daily interactions.

Abstract Purpose The purpose of this paper is to focus on tracking technologies and artificial intelligence, two technologies many of us carry as part of our smartphones every day in the context of the 2020 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach This column is part of a series using examples and headlines generated by this unique pandemic to explore larger technological trends and to provide a glimpse into the future of these underlying technologies. Findings Looking ahead, it is clear that the current pandemic has heightened the value and importance of these technologies, accelerating existing trends and heightening the importance for information professionals to understand their strengths and weaknesses. Originality/value This column will help information professionals have the context they need to understand these technologies as they evolve and enable them to prepare their organizations and communities to effectively use, promote and develop policies to deal with them. Once a technology has been integrated into our lives, its impact can feel invisible, regardless of its impact. Over time, as the technology continues to improve and change, those evolutions may remain unseen. Yet, extraordinary circumstances, such as a global pandemic, can provide a new lens for understanding these underlying technologically evolutionary trends. This is particularly true if the technology interacts with our lives in novel ways.

Abstract:
---------- The article intends to lead a bioethical reflection on anti-aging medicine, particularly on the field of research in human life-span extension. The analysis is divided into three parts, following a methodology that includes a first scientific survey of biomedical technologies involved in the topic, an anthropological overview, since these technologies intend to significantly intervene on the meaningful experience of human aging, and finally an ethical evaluation that which can be obtained from the discussion of the previous parts. Crucial points in the investigation are: - the examination of interpreting aging as a pathological and undesirable condition, which would justify medical removal of aging; - discussion on the relation between medicine aimed to longevism and debate on human enhancement and posthumanism; - the analysis of the concept and the anthropological value of “earthly immortality”. From the study proposed the decisive importance of the anthropological premises will emerge: from understanding aging as a pathological impairment it follows a moral obligation to remove both old age and mortality; if, instead, aging is considered as “natural” phase of person’s life with value and meaning, then the aim will be to welcome the needs typical of old age, through medicine oriented to the preservation of the best possible quality of life.

Abstract:
- Quality is one of the most relevant and, at the same time, ambiguous key-word of the contemporary socio-economic lexicon. The reference to quality discourses and technologies (such as those related to quality management, quality assurance, quality certification) ranges from market competition to organizational and managerial dynamics, from policy making to the new forms of governance. But, if quality constitutes itself as an eminent value for contemporary development, the treatment of the most diverse social domains (including, for example, administration, research, culture) in terms of quality is often assumed as the emblem of a disquieting trend towards control and rationalization. This contribution deals first with the analysis of the multiple meanings of the notion, paying particular attention to sociological studies and to the relationship between quality and the dimension of calculation. The attention focuses then on the role of the concept in the field of public policy and governance and, in particular, on quality as a sort of connecting device, which promotes processes of integration among different policy fields and networking phenomena involving public and private actors. The articles briefly hints, in the last part, at the root of the peculiar normativity of quality and at the enigmatic character of its current power. Keywords: Quality, networking, economic sociology, public policy.

Abstract:
The main characteristics of blockchains, such as security and traceability, have enabled their use in many distinct scenarios, such as the rise of new cryptocurrencies and decentralized applications (dApps). However, part of the information exchanged in the typical blockchain is public, which can lead to privacy issues. To avoid or mitigate these issues, some blockchains are applying mechanisms to deal with data privacy. Trusted execution environments, the basis of confidential computing, and secure multi-party computation are two technologies that can be applied in that sense. In this paper, we analyze seven blockchain technologies that apply mechanisms to improve data privacy. We define seven technical questions related to common requirements for decentralized applications and, to answer each question, we review the available documentation and gather information from chat channels. We briefly present each blockchain technology and the answers to each technical question. Finally, we present a table summarizing the information and showing which technologies are more prominent.

Abstract:
Chromogenic materials and devices include a wide range of technologies that are capable of changing their spectral properties according to specific external stimuli. Several studies have shown that chromogenics can be conveniently used in building façades in order to reduce energy consumption, with other significant effects. First of all, chromogenics influence the annual energy balance of a building, achieving significant reductions in consumption for HVAC and artificial lighting. In addition, these technologies potentially improve the indoor level of visual comfort, reducing the risks of glare and excessive lighting. This brief review points to a systematic discussion—although not exhaustive and mainly limited to recent results and investigations—of the main studies that deal with building-integrated chromogenics that have appeared, so far, in the scientific literature.

This work reports the results of an exploratory survey conducted among educators and teachers of the educational sector 0-6 in the Municipality of Rome. Due to the lockdown caused by the spread of Covid 19, also in Rome, as in most part of the world, nursery and kindergarten operators have been forced to organize distance didactic, using digital tecnology, to maintain the relationship with children and their families. In order to understand the ways in which they organized distance learning and their opinions on the matter, an online questionnaire was created and submitted. Interesting findings emerged: all the respondents (n=318) put a lot of effort into the design of distance learning approaches even if almost all (except 5) declared that they had no training in the use of digital technologies for educational purposes and never had them previously adopted.

Abstract:
Over the past few decades, silicon-based solar cells have been used in the photovoltaic (PV) industry because of the abundance of silicon material and the mature fabrication process. However, as more electrical devices with wearable and portable functions are required, silicon-based PV solar cells have been developed to create solar cells that are flexible, lightweight, and thin. Unlike flexible PV systems (inorganic and organic), the drawbacks of silicon-based solar cells are that they are difficult to fabricate as flexible solar cells. However, new technologies have emerged for flexible solar cells with silicon. In this paper, we describe the basic energy-conversion mechanism from light and introduce various silicon-based manufacturing technologies for flexible solar cells. In addition, for high energy-conversion efficiency, we deal with various technologies (process, structure, and materials).

The blind spot can be defined as the area around the vehicle where the driver cannot see through the mirrors without turning their head or taking their eyes off the road. Similar blind spots occur in energy policy. Blind spots can occur in forecasting economic development and creating policy documents. This study uncovers potential blind spots and controversies in the sustainability assessment of energy supply technologies. A composite sustainability index was constructed to compare district heating with four individual heating technologies—wood pellet boilers, natural gas boilers, solar collectors, and heat pumps. A total of 19 indicators were selected and grouped into four dimensions of sustainability—technical, environmental, economic, and social. The results reveal that district heating can compete with individual heating technologies in all dimensions of sustainability; however, a possible blind spot lies in evaluating environmental performance indicators of the different heating technologies. This study provides a novel decision-making tool that policy-makers could use to identify and avoid potential blind spots and uncertainties in energy policy at an early stage.

Abstract:
In recent years, the market globalization process has deeply altered the international competitive scene, leading, inevitably, to a revision of companies' strategies and organization structures. It is now widely accepted that Information and Communication Technology (ict) and supply chain logistics management, have an important role in increasing the competitive potential of each company and in the development of entire economic sectors. The importance of these factors for the business strategies of firms, has generated increasing research attention towards the study of their economic and social impact, concerning both the spread of modern information and communication technologies and logistics. This paper mainly proposes, through a direct survey conducted on a group of firms (production and commercial companies), working in the Sicilian fruit and vegetable sector - a strategic sector in the economic and social field for most of the region - to provide empirical evidence regarding the degree of diffusion of ict and its use, as well as on business relationships with the regional distribution logistics system, as they are two of the determinants that can influence companies' competitive potential. Through Multiple Correspondence Analysis (mca) it was possible to filter down the information from the available data and to identify two factors that describe and summarize how the surveyed firms behave. In particular, the analysis highlighted the close connection between the diffusion and use of ict and logistics distribution organization and the firms' physical and economic size. Specifically, the large-size companies, in this case represented by producer organizations and associations, have a medium-high degree of computerization and an efficient logistics organization, which allows them to interface with competitors both in the national and international market. Agricultural cooperatives and individual companies, on the other hand, though having well-developed infrastructure hardware and software, limit their use to basic functions, but above all have greater needs in terms of logistics structures, which are scantly distributed in the region, and this negatively influences the efficiency of fruit and vegetable produce distribution. In this context, the competitive potential of the fruit and vegetable sector, as regards the issues under investigation, is connected, on the one hand, to companies' recognition of the potential offered by ict and efficient logistics and, on the other, to government intervention aimed at overcoming the region's infrastructure limits which are at the heart of inefficiencies in the distribution system.

Numerous studies attest, in a convergent manner in different countries, the effects on minors of the pandemic period, especially on those in educational poverty. This condition requires articulated projects, centered on emerging needs, based on research and supported by a network on the territory. The Assist towards success program was created to include lower secondary school students, for whom the pandemic has meant a significant loss of learning opportunities. The interventions envisaged a targeted use of technologies and the involvement of trainees in Education, trained in remote cognitive mediation strategies. This choice also promoted in future professionals specific skills in school support; transversal skills and responsibility towards the needs of the territory. The implementation strategies of the Assist program and its effectiveness outcomes can constitute a model for future planning, within an educational world that has been profoundly renewed by the health emergency.

AbstractInitial ideas on risk management uses of precision agricultural technology focused on site-specific treatment of problem areas to reduce the probability of low yields and returns. Recent discussions deal with sensor and remote-sensing information to improve marketing and “as applied maps” as trace-back mechanisms to manage liability. A theoretical model is presented that suggests that there are plausible circumstances under which precision farming can reduce temporal yield variability. Empirical evidence from an on-farm trial of site-specific P&K management in the Eastern Cornbelt supports the hypothesis that precision farming can have risk-reducing benefits.

Abstract:
The present work comprises the application of a multi-analytical strategy based on the combination of several non-destructive and micro-invasive methodologies for the examination of the glazed tiles from the tomb of Benozzo Federighi made by Luca della Robbia. The marble tomb is framed by flat glazed terracotta tiles, each ornamented with naturalistically depicted flowers. The tiles are assembled like an “opus sectile” and their background is gilded. The leaf is incorporated on the top of the glaze, differently by traditional gilding technique as in previous glazed works of della Robbia. The identification methodology integrates the results from spot analyses such as UV-vis reflectance spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence, with those obtained on tiny samples by X-ray diffraction, electron microscopic observations, laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and firing temperature analysis. The adopted analytical protocol allowed us to clarify peculiarities of the artist’s technique and of the manufacturing technology used to create the terracotta and gilded glazed tiles. The terracotta body shows main phases related with Ca-rich ceramic body and the glaze results Pb-based and additioned with Sn as an opacifier. Co, Pb-Sb and Cu were identified as glazes colouring agents. The hypothesis on the use of the “third firing” technique for gilding tiles is explored in the text.

We will discuss the concept of personalized blockchain journalism and propose a user economy model that guarantees the financial sustainability of the platform. Observing information as a user experience, we have discussed the possibility of adequate cognitive response of users in conditions of information saturation, and raised the issue of structuring information in designing a journalistic platform on the blockchain, as an ecosystem that will distance itself from existing polluted media space. Finally, we have proposed a topic for further reflection and scientific research, which is the latest technological transition based on quantum computing, artificial intelligence and the Metaverse, which will provide a completely new user experience in 3D virtual space, where user avatars will rely less and less on traditional media and journalism as we know it today.

Abstract:
Gas plays the central role in the fuel and energy balance among Russia, USA and Europe. Efficient energy use is encouraged with gas-turbine technologies, which have reached a high level of development. Russia has a great deal of gas-turbine engineering experience and scientific and industrial potential in this area, but has no national program to encourage the development of such technology. To ensure energy security and the scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, to address the energy problems of the 21st century, we propose the formation of a national program for the development of gas turbines. This program would fall under the scientific and methodological guidance of the Department of Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics and Management Processes of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Abstract:
Reaction time to a light or sound stimulus is an important element of life. Constructing and testing a measuring device for collecting the response time stimulus focused on two study groups. The results which were obtained showed that people who specialize in sports have 0.15 seconds, better time than people who do not professionally deal with sport. Be tested for both groups with additional verification (stopwatch) confirmed the measuring apparatus along with the application.

Abstract:
The demand for wireless connectivity has grown exponentially over the last years. By 2030 there should be around 17 billion of mobile-connected devices, with monthly data traffic in the order of thousands of exabytes. Although the Fifth Generation (5G) communications systems present far more features than Fourth Generation (4G) systems, they will not be able to serve this growing demand and the requirements of innovative use cases. Therefore, Sixth Generation (6G) Networks are expected to support such massive connectivity and guarantee an increase in performance and quality of service for all users. To deal with such requirements, several technical issues need to be addressed, including novel multiple-antenna technologies. Then, this survey gives a concise review of the main emerging Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technologies for 6G Networks such as massive MIMO (mMIMO), extremely large MIMO (XL-MIMO), Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS), and Cell-Free mMIMO (CF-mMIMO). Moreover, we present a discussion on how some of the expected key performance indicators (KPIs) of some novel 6G Network use cases can be met with the development of each MIMO technology.
