Smith, Frances. Rethinking the Hollywood Teen Movie. Edinburgh University Press, 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.3366/edinburgh/9781474413091.001.0001.

Abstract:
Rethinking the Teen Movie is the first academic monograph to theorise the construction of identity in the Hollywood Teen Movie, one of the most popular, yet academically overlooked film genres. As such, the book constitutes a significant intervention in Film Studies, providing a reconsideration of such key tropes as the male juvenile delinquent figure, the makeover and the teen vampire. Providing detailed case studies of key films from the genre, the book provides an innovative overview of the genre, and its relationship to performativity, intersectionality, post-feminism, and the post-human. Rebel Without a Cause, Grease, Pretty in Pink and Twilight are all considered here in a volume destined to be used widely in undergraduate teaching and academic scholarship alike

Abstract:
This chapter focuses on adult prostitution and the physical, ethnic, and racial geography of sex work. In the view of moralists, adult prostitutes represented a different category of women believed to be in firm control of their sexuality, the financial resources they accrued from their activities, and how that money was spent. Prostitution was not only a profitable profession, it also directly and indirectly contributed to the colonial state's agenda of maintaining the city as a hotspot of migrants. As such, sex work mirrored the diversity of the colonial urban economy and consumption pattern of Lagosians. The chapter then looks at the activities of delinquent youth known in the urban dictionary as boma and jaguda boys and how their identity and behavior gave new connotations to prostitution as a profession that must be prohibited.

Abstract:
Chapter 4 explores the factors leading to the ‘onset’ of actual, perceived, and potential delinquency within our sample. It reconstructs key details of the early lives of children in our study, explores contemporary distinctions made between vulnerable and ‘criminal’ children, and shows how decisions made at this point by the authorities could alter the course of children’s lives. It explores the possibilities of historical risk factor research and suggests new approaches to writing the history of harm. It does not purport to identify the ‘causes’ of delinquency but rather to identify the factors that led our sample into the public gaze, into the courts, and into one of our four institutions.

Kimonis, Eva R., and Georgette E. Fleming. Disruptive and Conduct Disorders, Delinquency. Edited by Thomas H. Ollendick, Susan W. White, and Bradley A. White. Oxford University Press, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oxfordhb/9780190634841.013.27.

Abstract:
Disruptive and conduct disorders, comprising oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder, are characterized by behaviors that violate the rights of others or bring the individual into significant conflict with societal norms or authority figures. These disorders are highly prevalent, emerge early in childhood, and are associated with profound disability and societal burden. Given the heterogeneity in presentation and outcomes of youth with disruptive and conduct disorders, attempts have been made to identify more homogeneous subgroups. Notably, children displaying callous–unemotional traits (e.g., lack of empathy, remorse/guilt) represent a distinct group with severe, aggressive, and chronic conduct problems. To identify this and other important clinical considerations, it is imperative that conduct problem assessment is effective and comprehensive. Assessment findings should inform implementation of evidence-based treatment tailored to the child’s and family’s individual needs. Additional clinical considerations and recommendations for the next frontiers of research into disruptive and conduct disorders are discussed.

Abstract:
This study aims to identify the measures taken by the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the face of intellectual deviation among youth. The target is to reveal the causes of intellectual deviation among young people in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and to develop a proposed program to immunize the youth from intellectual deviation in the GCC countries. The researcher applies the descriptive and analytical method in this study, and the study tool used is the questionnaire. The study population consists of all young citizens in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the sample is stratified random. This study reaches a set of results, including the following: Economic measures are the most common measures taken by GCC countries to confront the intellectual deviation among young people. Then come the institutional measures, then the social measures. The media work to criticize and analyze the problem of intellectual deviation and thus contribute to strengthening cohesion within society. The upbringing patterns used by contemporary Gulf families contribute to immunizing their children from intellectual deviation. Among the recommendations the study makes are the following: The concerted efforts of state agencies and community institutions in the GCC countries, with the cooperation of individuals and families, to discover early manifestations of intellectual deviation Adopting a promising new vision for sustainable development, and engaging youth in its implementation in the GCC countries. Implementing strategic plans to immunize youth from delinquency, with a community partnership
