Abstract:
Introduction. Russian universities attempting to introduce the content and language integrated learning model into the educational process at the levels of bachelor's degree and master's degree face risks and difficulties caused by the lack of a "balance" between substantive competencies and foreign language communicative competence of both the teacher and the students. The purpose of the article is to present the local experience of using the model of content and language integrated learning as a means of forming bilingual competence in the field of professional communication by the example of training masters based on the "Deutsch Lehren Lernen" ("Learning to teach German") program. Materials and methods. The study involved 87 first- and second-year students of the full-time master's program (direction of training "Pedagogical Education") at Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University named after V.P. Astafiev during 2017–2020. The main research methods were forecasting, design, prolonged monitoring of the results of learning, a questionnaire survey, and McNemar's statistical test. Results. The experimental use of the model of forming content and language bilingual competence of master's degree students showed an increase in the coefficient of assimilation of the content of the educational material of the components of the integrated disciplines to the high one (0.95 > x > 0.80) and the sufficient one (0.80 > x > 0.65). There is a high level of forming the content and language bilingual competence in all types of speech activity: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. After completing the metasubject course, students can correctly and logically use subject knowledge in speech activity in German (p < 0.04), master the terminological minimum according to the methodology of teaching German (p < 0.01). Discussion. The assumption was confirmed about the possibility of forming bilingual competence of master's degree students subject to the design and implementation algorithm of the content and language integrated learning model, which includes: a) the development of criteria for selecting subjects for interdisciplinary integration; b) taking into account the balance of universal, professional, and linguistic competencies formed in the process of integration; c) focus on the practice-oriented nature of the research training of master's degree students. Conclusion. The results of the research can be used in metasubject design and practical implementation of the process of forming bilingual competence of a future specialist in the field of professional communication at the master's degree level.

Abstract:
This research aimed to examine the level of knowledge of master and doctorate students regarding scientific research ethics and the frequency of scientific deception identification in scientific publications. The research was conducted using descriptive methods. The group under examination consisted of 112 randomly chosen students who pursued their postgraduate degree in physical education and sports fields. The validity and reliability were determined in the framework of this study. Item total correlation and factor analyses were conducted for the construct validity of the assessment tool. The Alpha Coefficient, which was calculated for the scale reliability as .96, indicated the scale is valid and reliable. The Shapiro-Wilks test was also conducted to determine whether the data were normally distributed. Because the data did not exhibit a normal distribution, a non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test was utilised. “Writing more than one article using the same data”, “citing without providing a reference”, “reporting findings that are only consistent with expectations”, “publishing someone else’s ideas without providing references as if they are one’s own”, “presenting the same research in more than one conference or symposium”, and “publishing the same research in more than one journal” are the most non-ethical behaviours perceived in scientific research. All of the participants indicated that “presenting falsified findings of research and publishing someone else’s research with own name” represent non-ethical behaviours. According to the research results, “citing without providing a reference” and “writing more than one article using the same data” were the most unethical behaviours identified in scientific studies.

Abstract:
Abstract Objectives To analyse the association between maternal physical activity status and birth size outcomes and whether other determinants of confounding variable such as pre-pregnancy BMI (PP BMI) and gestational weight gain (GWG) during pregnancy affect birth size outcomes. Methods A prospective birth cohort study. Subject's PAL was measured at the first trimester (T1) and third trimester (T3) during pregnancy. Birth size outcomes were measured immediately after birth. Results The analyses included 183 mother and infant pairs with a mean newborn birth weight of 3211.75 ± 434.70 g. Pregnant women at T3 had two times lower physical activity than T1 of pregnancy (OR, 2.18; CI, 1.044–4.57; P = 0.045). Maternal PAL at T1 and T3 were in sedentary level (74.30% and 77%, respectively). There was no association between PP BMI and physical activity level during pregnancy. We found no significant association between PAL during pregnancy and birth size outcomes (P &gt; 0.05 for all comparisons). However, we had a significant association with birth weight after our confounder adjustment (P = 0.032). There was a significant interaction between maternal PAL and PP BMI on birth weight and head circumference (Pinteraction &lt; 0.05). Conclusions Our study provides evidence that neither maternal physical activity status nor pre-pregnancy BMI in the prenatal period are associated with birth size outcomes (birthweight, birth length, and head circumference). Abstract:
Rubashov — Honored Artist of Ukraine, Member of the National Union of Artists in Ukraine, Associ- ate Professor of the Department of Drawing the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.Yurii Rubashov was born in Kyiv in 1947. After the end of the RCSU with the name of T. Shevchenko in 1965, he joined KSAI and till 1971 he studied in prominent Ukrainian graphists: V. Kasyana, I. Selivanov, V. Chebanyk. The artist turns to historical subjects and initiates graphic cycle, dedicated to the history of Kiev Rus and the activities of the kings who influenced the historical passing of events of that time.First of this thesis topic was a series of lithographs "Yaroslav the Wise" (1971), later — a series of graphic com- positions "Kiev Rus" (1979), a series of colored prints "Prince of Kiev", "Princess Olga, Svyatoslav, Vladimir, and Yaroslav the Wise (1992).The artist shows the greatest creative interest in landscape painting (cycles "On the Spain" (1982), "On the Sweden" (1985), "On the Jordan" (1983), "On the Armenia" (1983), "Roads of the Ukraine" (1996) and still life (Sweden Series, 2012–2013).It can be argued that Yu. Rubashov’s works absorbed the lyrics of landscapes with characteristic features of both southern and northern colors, and his still life is characterized by precise organization, a variety of styl- ized forms, which show confidence in the possession of the material and a balanced sense of compositional harmony. In the process of forming the author’s technique, he chooses the path of innovation and experiment, which in turn causes a peculiar interpretation of different technical means — a combination of materials and technologies of different nature. The artist exploits and applies multicolored pigments, oil pastels, watercolors and acrylic paints and the like, mixing everything with different solvents, which gives the opportunity to original express and crystallize a peculiar, author’s style.Drawing on the foundations of academic education, the artist experiments, seeks creative ideas and success- fully incorporates contemporary artistic problems into new imaginative solutions. This is a valuable example of growing skill and formation creative personality. In 2000 and 2015 he received first-degree diplomas All-Ukrainian Triennial of Graphic Arts, in 2012 — Di- ploma of the third stage of the exhibition-competition named G.Yakutovich.Yu. Rubashov fruitfully combines creative work with teaching. In the process of teaching his students, Yu. Rubashov not only lays the foundations of academic drawing, but also encourages to analyze creative material, to study and master the various drawing techniques and opportunities inherent in them.In the general process of contemporary search for an art, together with the academic pragmatism of the cur- riculum, the teacher, especially in the first courses of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Restoration, draws attention of the students in different artistic trends, teaches analytical and creative perception of natural objects and consciously approach the transformation of three-dimensional forms on a two-dimensional work plane of a paper sheet. These methodological principles meet the needs of modern times. The stylistic language of his works is recognizable and special. Not dwelling on what he has achieved, he im- parts his experience to the students, demonstrating the inexhaustible possibilities of drawing and the technical means of its implementation, including pastels. The high level of his works makes it possible to claim that Yu. Rubashov is a master of pastels and his contribution to the development of Ukrainian art is indisputable.

Abstract:
The goal of this article is to analyze and understand the institutional peculiarities of functionality of the master&rsquo;s program in sociology in Russian and Indian universities. In the conditions of rapid development of global educational space, master&rsquo;s programs become an attractive means of exercising academic mobility by students. For this case study, Ural Federal University and Mumbai University were selected, both of which offer master&rsquo;s programs in sociology and are not part of the QS World University Rankings. The author analyzes the websites of both university, and conducts surveys of sociology students in India (n=65) and Russia (n=66). The results of this research demonstrate that master&rsquo;s program in the Russian university is practically oriented and is aimed at filling the demands of the regional job market. The program offered by the Indian university is accompanied by national specificity, reflecting peculiarities of the current state of Indian society. For Indian students, getting an education in a Russian university master&rsquo;s program serves as an important instrument for securing strong status positions. Russian sociology students do not demonstrate interest towards education in Indian universities, opting instead for education in BRICS countries and China.

Abstract:
SummaryHealth information exchange (HIE) facilitates the exchange of patient information across different healthcare organizations. To match patient records across sites, HIEs usually rely on a master patient index (MPI), a database responsible for determining which medical records at different healthcare facilities belong to the same patient. A single patient’s records may be improperly split across multiple profiles in the MPI.We investigated the how often two individuals shared the same first name, last name, and date of birth in the Social Security Death Master File (SSDMF), a US government database containing over 85 million individuals, to determine the feasibility of using exact matching as a split record detection tool. We demonstrated how a method based on exact record matching could be used to partially measure the degree of probable split patient records in the MPI of an HIE.We calculated the percentage of individuals who were uniquely identified in the SSDMF using first name, last name, and date of birth. We defined a measure consisting of the average number of unique identifiers associated with a given first name, last name, and date of birth. We calculated a reference value for this measure on a subsample of SSDMF data. We compared this measure value to data from a functioning HIE.We found that it was unlikely for two individuals to share the same first name, last name, and date of birth in a large US database including over 85 million individuals. 98.81% of individuals were uniquely identified in this dataset using only these three items. We compared the value of our measure on a subsample of Social Security data (1.00089) to that of HIE data (1.1238) and found a significant difference (t-test p-value < 0.001).This method may assist HIEs in detecting split patient records.

Abstract:
Despite several publications on the history of Russian medicine of the 17th and 18th centuries, this period remains insufficiently studied. The works of the first Russian historians of medicine ― V. Richter, Ya.A. Chistovich, and L.F. Zmeev ― are well known. Unfortunately, their works do not always contain an accurate description of historical facts and correct dates of events. This refers to the era of Emperor Peter the Great ― the reformer of Russia, founder of the regular Russian army and navy, and reformer of Russian medicine and military medical education in the country ― as well as to the history of the Apothecary order. The focus is on the date of the appointment of the closest associate of Peter the Great, a professional doctor Robert Erskine, to the position of head of the Apothecary order and to the position of Archiater, the chief of all military and civil medical institutions in Russia. We have already written briefly about this in our earlier publications. This important issue continues to cause controversy and disagreement among historians. Professor Ya.A. Chistovich argued that Robert Erskine was appointed to the position of Archiater only in 1716, according to the date of issuance of the Letter of Peter I to Robert Erskine: April 30, 1716. Earlier, in the historians opinion, the boyar, Prince Ya.N. Odoevsky, was the head of the Apothecary order and the chief of all medical institutions in Russia. He had no medical education but had successfully carried out the reforms during the Great Northern War (17001721). In 1907, an outstanding Russian and Soviet scientist, jurist (lawyer), historian of Law and Medicine, Master of Police Law (1907), Doctor of Police Law (1919), Doctor of Historical Sciences (1943), Professor Nikolai Yakovlevich Novombergsky (18711949), after many years of studying and analyzing archival documents of the 17th and 18th centuries, convincingly proved the incorrectness of statements by L.F. Zmeev (related to 1714) and Ya.A. Chistovich (related to 1716) on the date of appointment of doctor Robert Erskine to the position of Archiater. The great work by N.Ya. Novombergsky Development of Russian medicine in the pre-Petrine era (1907) was presented by him as the dissertation for a masters degree in Police Law, and he was awarded the Grand Prize named after Count A.S. Uvarov of the Imperial Academy of Sciences of Russia (1908). The author paid special attention to the history of the Apothecary order and documented that in 1706 Doctor Robert Erskine was already an Archiater. The appointment of Robert Erskine as Archiater in 1706 significantly influenced the further development and establishment of Russian medicine, and this year was the most important for the Russian medical service. Our study of archival documents of the beginning of the 18th century, published documentary sources, and scientific works on the history of medicine, has confirmed the evidence and conclusions of N.Ya. Novombergsky. On April 30, 1716, Robert Erskine was granted the rank of the actual state councillor. An analysis of the text of the Letter of Peter I to Robert Erskine has also confirmed that event.

Abstract:
Introduction.Training a competitive specialist at the level of a master program is an important educational goal. The problem of the continuity of educational levels as a condition for the quality of graduate training is debatable, because the focus of such discussions is often around the methodological components of the educational program, rather than the conceptual guidelines for professional growth. The aim of the research was to study the level of studentsʼ readiness to follow master degree programs in the field of special (defectological) education. Materials and Methods. The research constitutes a theoretical analysis of the problem of readiness of defectology students to pursue the master degree level of education. In the course of empirical research, the results of a questionnaire and self-assessment were used. The survey included 68 master degree students of 4 master degree programs. Statistical processing of the results was carried out using the Statistica 10.0 software package for the Windows. Results. The authors found that the target guidelines for the reconstruction of the professional training of master students in the field of special (defectological) education is a set of expected knowledge, skills, and abilities from the standpoint of modern requirements and social need for the activities of a specialist in the changing conditions of education, upbringing and development of children with disabilities; the designing of a master program requires the actualization of theoretical and methodological training, taking into account its extrapolation to the level of implementation of applied professional competencies in accordance with the modern needs of society and the dynamics of the educational labor market. Discussion and Conclusion. The results obtained facilitate the development of professional training of master students in the field of special (defectological) education and allow us to consider theoretical and methodological readiness to pursue a master course in terms of continuity of educational tasks and the continuity of educational levels that make up the fundamental principles for the preparation of a competitive graduate.

Abstract:
The master’s degree is an obligatory stage for those who are planning to enter PhD. That is why it should have a clear academic track. Embedding the master’s degree in the academic track allows universities to sum up their efforts to support young scientists. There is an urgent need to support scientific centers in Russian universities. When the universities are competing for academic leadership, academic tracks become the ground for the development strategies.Previous researches showed that most students were ready to choose an academic track when they were master’s students. Thus, the academic track starts long before entering the doctoral programs. The study results reveal that master’s students do not have an opportunity to build an individual academic track within “hybrid” master’s programs. The Russian master’s degree programs shortly involve young researchers in projects, and this applies to all types of universities, including the research ones. The structure and ways of involving students in science do not differ in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Master’s students who choose academic track do it without changing the major program. However, this trend doesn’t cover all the students. Master’s students use academic tracks to upgrade their professional skills for the further career but not at university or scientific institution.

Abstract:
Today, Ukraine is on the verge of implementing reform changes aimed at improving the functioning of educational institutions, educational environment, working and learning conditions, etc. To this end, public authorities have adopted a number of legal documents that provide for the content and basic conceptual framework for the implementation of European integration standards. Every higher education institution must implicitly respond to these changes, as its mission should be to improve conditions within and outside the educational environment in relation to all participants of the educational process. In fulfilling its unique mission, each institution of higher education should have its own strategic vision for the development of the entire institution and individual specialties, which takes into account the individual peculiarities and needs of students and research-teaching staff. In order to form the current competences of the graduate of the relevant specialty, the higher education institution must constantly review the objectives and program learning outcomes, which will further affect the competitiveness of the student in the labour market. Each specialty must be in constant motion, development, systemic improvement. Particular attention in this process should be paid to the specialty 011 Educational, Pedagogical Sciences, as their graduates are future teachers of higher education institutions, which in the near future will influence the development processes of the future professionals in various fields. Therefore, the objective of the article is to highlight the optimal conditions that should be created by a higher education institution in the system of training of master’s degree students. To achieve it, theoretical (analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalisation) and practical (questionnaire, observation, conversation) methods have been used. Abstract:
Introduction. The relevance of the study is due to the need to transform the system of practice-oriented education, to search for effective mechanisms for organizing the educational process aimed at forming the professional competencies of future teachers. The process of preparing master degree students of pedagogical universities for a professional activity must meet the requirements of modern society, the higher education system, the requirements of regulatory documents and professional standards. Materials and methods. The study involved 125 master degree students of the Voronezh State Pedagogical University majoring in “Pedagogical education”. Basic research methods include the analysis of teaching activities, the study and generalization of innovative teaching and management experience, a pedagogical experiment. Pearson’s chi-squared test (χ2) was used to establish statistically significant differences between the control and experimental groups. Research results. Within the framework of the study, a practice-oriented model of formation of professional competencies in master degree students of pedagogical universities and the conditions for its effective functioning was developed and implemented. During the study, criteria and indicators of formation of professional competences among master degree students were determined: motivational (the level of educational and professional motivation), cognitive (professional knowledge, information-communication indicator) and activity-based ones (professional skills, organization, independence), levels of formation of professional competences. The experiment showed that the level of formation of professional competences among master degree students in the experimental group is higher than that of the control group (χ2 = 6.45; p<0.05). Conclusion. The research results can be used in the process of practice-oriented teaching and the organization of educational and on-the-job training of master degree students at pedagogical universities, aimed at forming professional competencies of future teachers. Abstract:
There is a great need for Master-Craftsmen who are highly valued in industry locally but are not afforded the same recognition as in Germany, so in order to encourage more applicants a bridging progression to a Bachelor’s degree should be devised. There are several paths to the education of engineers. Traditionally students of engineering attend secondary school from which they matriculate to a tertiary institution. In many countries candidates may opt to do an Associate degree articulating to a Bachelor’s degree. However, in some countries, it is possible to become an engineer without a traditional degree, usually in a more practically-oriented apprenticeship programme. In Britain for example, such candidates complete National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in engineering while working at a company. NVQs typically range from Level 1 to Level 8, Levels 6 and 7 being equivalent to Bachelor’s and taught Master’s degrees respectively. In Germany, there is also an alternative qualification to the Bachelor’s degree, the more practically-oriented Meister (Master-Craftsman in English), both of which are equally recognized and respected professionally and are both pegged at Level 6 in the 8-Level German National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The MIC Institute of Technology has adopted a Master-Craftsman programme which is accredited by the German Chamber of Crafts and Trades. Candidates have to first complete the (trimester) Journeyman programme comprising three years, about 50% of which comprise industrial attachments/internships. Successful Journeyman graduates can progress to the Master-Craftsman qualification by completing an extra (trimester) year of study. This paper deals with the progression of Master-Craftsman graduates, through advanced placement, in a Bachelor of Technology programme. The Master-Craftsman curricula have to be mapped against a typical Bachelor of Technology programme to determine the gaps in mathematical, theoretical and other areas and mechanisms to fill any gaps.

Abstract:
The ongoing reforms of the Russias educational system call for improvements in the system of higher education. Thus there is a critical need to provide the theoretical and methodological basis for training Masters degree students, and particularly for the culture-general training. Meanwhile the Federal State Educational Standard of the 3rd generation does not describe in detail the concept of culture-general training of Masters students, providing only the set of general cultural competencies, which students are required to develop to graduate with the Masters degree. As higher education institutions are free to set up their own mechanisms of culture-general training, the author emphasizes, that she and her colleagues place a particular focus on culture-general training of Masters degree students attending the higher pedagogical institutions, because the graduates would not become valued society members, unless they have mastered and enhanced the whole range of culture-general competencies.

We offer a case of study, a Master of Science (MSc) in Banking and Finance that became the first academic degree in Spain to obtain the two professional accreditations required for employees in financial institutions since 2019. A survey to a sample of students who graduated two academic years before and two years after the MSc was recognised is used to measure students' motivations for enrolment and satisfaction. The results provide significant evidence that professional accreditation became a key motivation for students to enrol the master, is associated with a more diverse geographical origin of students, and students highlight the higher quality and better coordination of the teaching staff.</p>

Abstract:
English title: Norwegian master educations in natural science for lower secondary school – large differences in courses offered and size of master thesisCurrently, the majority of students in lower secondary school teacher education take a four-year education in Norway. From 2017 this education will be prolonged to a five-year master education. In connection to this, there is an ongoing debate in Norway about the content of the new teacher education programs. In 2010, the Arctic University of Norway (UiT) began the first integrated five-year master education for lower secondary teacher education students in Norway. This program is described in the article, with a focus on the subject natural science in the 5–10 level education. UiT has made progress regarding the difficult link between the student’s school practice and their education at the University. As teacher educators, we experience that the new education also seems to give the students a higher identity and motivation towards teaching natural science. There are four teacher education colleges/universities in Norwegian offering a master degree in natural science/pedagogical content knowledge for teachers in lower secondary school. These master educations are relatively different in structure, and especially the subjects offered and the size of the master thesis is considerably different.

Abstract:
Abstract Objective This study evaluated the degree to which recommendations for demographic data standardization improve patient matching accuracy using real-world datasets. Materials and Methods We used 4 manually reviewed datasets, containing a random selection of matches and nonmatches. Matching datasets included health information exchange (HIE) records, public health registry records, Social Security Death Master File records, and newborn screening records. Standardized fields including last name, telephone number, social security number, date of birth, and address. Matching performance was evaluated using 4 metrics: sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and accuracy. Results Standardizing address was independently associated with improved matching sensitivities for both the public health and HIE datasets of approximately 0.6% and 4.5%. Overall accuracy was unchanged for both datasets due to reduced match specificity. We observed no similar impact for address standardization in the death master file dataset. Standardizing last name yielded improved matching sensitivity of 0.6% for the HIE dataset, while overall accuracy remained the same due to a decrease in match specificity. We noted no similar impact for other datasets. Standardizing other individual fields (telephone, date of birth, or social security number) showed no matching improvements. As standardizing address and last name improved matching sensitivity, we examined the combined effect of address and last name standardization, which showed that standardization improved sensitivity from 81.3% to 91.6% for the HIE dataset. Conclusions Data standardization can improve match rates, thus ensuring that patients and clinicians have better data on which to make decisions to enhance care quality and safety.
