Abstract:
Contemporary activity of a higher education teacher in the field of physical education and sports is characterized by a variety and complex content. To achieve the desired result in the physical education of students, such content must be subject to a clear logic of functioning and control. Any reasonable and rationally organized activity in the field of physical education and sports can be divided into such components as: planning, implementation, control and accounting. The unity of the functioning of these components will allow you to most effectively build and manage the process of physical education in the organization of higher education. The problem of control and accounting of physical education of students is one of the most urgent pedagogical problems, since the success of the entire process of physical education in the organization of the higher education depends on the control and accounting. To improve the physical education of students in the organization of higher education, an in-depth development of the control and accounting fund for the content and methods is necessary. We reveal the content and methods of control and accounting of student performance (bachelor’s degree students) in elective discipline “Volleyball”.

Abstract:
In 2015 the threshold learning outcomes (TLOs) for Australian bachelor degree graduates in the discipline of Environment and Sustainability were released. This study road tested the Environment and Sustainability TLOs in the workplace via environmental science students’ internship placement. The study, which incorporated surveys of host-supervisors, students and teaching staff, was conducted over four years. The surveys enabled comparisons between the performance expected of a new graduate by employers with the level of performance students achieved while on placement. Overall, hosts expect new graduates to be ‘Capable’ performers (2.8 on a 5 point scale). Host-supervisors also rated the overall performance of interns as ‘Capable’ (3.4/5). Expected performance of a new graduate for individual TLOs was compared with the performance of interns. Students exceeded the expectations of host-supervisors for all TLOs. In contrast, teaching staff rated the performance of students lower than students themselves and host-supervisors. Fundamental differences in the way students are assessed in the workplace and the classroom may account for the difference in perceived student performance. The results of the surveys can be used as evidence that the degree is meeting the needs of industry and for graduates to undertake professional work in the Environment and Sustainability discipline. The methodology has the potential to be used in any discipline that has published TLOs. The authors recommend that the Australian Qualifications Framework is reviewed and a rubric that describes student behaviour is used rather than vague terms such as ‘well developed’.

Abstract:
In order to promote the prosperity and development of the research on “regional tourism performance” and better guide the practice of regional tourism development, this paper gives a basic and comprehensive review of the research activities on “regional tourism performance.” Data were collected from 418 English papers (2004–2020) collected from the Web of Science database. This study uses CiteSpace and Gephi to analyze the development of the thematic research from four dimensions: research overview, knowledge base, discipline structure, and research frontier. The study found that “regional tourism performance” is still a hot spot of the future. The existing literature on “regional tourism performance” mainly focuses on constructing models, exploring influencing factors, and innovating management models to improve tourist satisfaction, enhance regional tourism competitiveness, and promote regional economic growth. Panel data, entropy index, data envelopment analysis, bootstrap truncated regression models, coupling coordination degree, and spatial variation are the main research methods. Since 2016, cultural tourism, heritage tourism, rural tourism, tourism destinations competitiveness, and regional tourism governance have become hot topics in the thematic research. This paper is helpful to improve the research efficiency of the thematic research, promote the theoretical results to better guide the practice, and improve the level of regional tourism performance. However, this paper has limitations in terms of concept differentiation and data accuracy.

Abstract: This research is to analyze the influence, motivation, opportunities, and partial participation on employee performance in the Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Barito Selatan. The object of research was employees at the Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Barito Selatan. A total of 500 employees. Determination of the sample in this study using simple random sampling, with a sample of 10% of the total sample used for as many as 50 respondents. The independent variables in this study are ability, motivation, opportunity, and discipline, while the required variable is employee work performance. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. Transformed regression shows all regression coefficients that are positive, which means all expected independent variables in the model have a direction of change in the direction of the added variables, meaning that the independent variable rises assuming the other independent variables remain free so that the variable rises as well. Based on the analysis results it is concluded that the independent variables collected have a significant effect on the dependent variable. This can be assessed from the results of the t statistical calculation, the t value is greater than t table. The results showed that: Ability (X1) influences employee performance (Y) with a t value of 5.313 greater than t table of 1.701 with a significance level of 0,000. Motivation (X2) affects employee performance (Y) with a t value of 2.780 greater than t table of 1.701 with a significance level of 0.007. Opportunity (X3) influences employee performance (Y) with a t value of 2.116 greater than t table of 1.701 with a significant degree of 0.038. Discipline (X4) has an effect on employee performance (Y) with a t value of 3.922 greater than t table of 1.701 with a significant degree of 0,000. The conversion coefficient is Multiple R of 0.512, this shows that there is a strong relationship between independent variables consisting of ability (X1), motivation (X2), opportunity (X3), and discipline (X4) together to support the achievement employment at Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Barito Selatan. This relationship is categorized as strong because of the value Keyword: Employee's Ability, Motivation, Opportunity, Discipline, and Work Performance.

Abstract:
The article outlines quantitative criteria of students’ performance results in the course of studying the subject ‘Life Safety’ in the times of online education. The process of education is conducted using the competency-based approach and presupposes the evaluation of performance with the help of 3 levels: basic (adaptive), independent (productive), competent (creative). The evaluation of the indicators of students’ knowledge and skills was done using a modular rating system. The discipline is taught in 2 main ways: lectures and seminars. The assessment of students’ knowledge was conducted using progress tests, mid-term and final tests. The article provides Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient which indicates a very high level of correlation between the ratings of students’ achievements in different Modules of the course. The results indicate that using online education to prepare Bachelor’s degree students for their final test in the subject ‘Life Safety’ was effective, there were no serious disadvantages; which leads to a tentative hope of integrating online education into regular education in the future.

Abstract:
British university students (N = 247) completed the NEO‐PI‐R (Costa & McCrae, 1992) personality inventory at the beginning of their course and took several written examinations throughout their three‐year degree. Personality super‐traits (especially Conscientiousness positively, and Extraversion and Neuroticism negatively) were significantly correlated with examination grades and were found to account for around 15% of the variance. Primary traits were also examined and results showed significant correlations between a small number of these traits (notably dutifulness and achievement striving positively, and anxiety and activity negatively) and academic achievement. Furthermore, selected primary personality traits (i.e. achievement striving, self‐discipline, and activity) were found to explain almost 30% of the variance in academic examination performance. It is argued that personality inventory results may represent an important contribution to the prediction of academic success and failure in university (particularly in highly selective and competitive settings). Abstract:
AbstractThe objective of the present study was to evaluate the contribution of academic monitoring in the students’ performance of the Physical Education course in the discipline of Human Anatomy. The sample consisted of 50 students of the Physical Education course (Bachelor’s degree) who were taking the discipline of Human Anatomy (HA). The participants were divided into two groups: non-monitoring (NM) and monitoring (M). Academic monitoring actions were carried out during the students’ after class hours, in which they were assisted by the professor and three monitors. Thus, all the students who participated in the monitoring activities were included in the M group and those students who were not involved in monitoring activities were included in the NM group. The assessment used to verify student’s performance was the last test of the HA discipline. After verifying the data normality, the scores of the groups were compared using the Mann Whitney test. Data were expressed as mean and standard deviation from the mean using the Graph Pad Prism 6 statistical program. The adopted significance index was p <0.05. In the results it was observed that the M group obtained a better performance when compared to the NM group (p <0.001). Therefore, academic monitoring acted as a facilitating tool in the student’s theoretical-practical development and contributed to a better performance in the discipline of HA. Therefore, it can be used as an additional support in the teaching-learning process of students who participate in extra-class monitoring activities. Keywords: Learning. Education, higher. Education. Abstract:
The effectiveness of fiscal policy becomes particularly relevant in the case of the member countries of a monetary union facing a sovereign debt crisis. In that environment, fiscal policy is constrained by the need to carry out fiscal consolidation and reduce debt levels. For that reason and with the purpose of anchoring fiscal discipline, the adoption of fiscal rules has become a central issue. In this paper we will analyse the management of fiscal policies in monetary unions, when the central bank and the fiscal authorities follow policy rules. The results are related to the conservativeness of the central bank, the degree of austerity of the fiscal authorities and the initial level of public debt.

Abstract:
Purpose – Seaborne trade accounts for 90 per cent of world’s total trade activity. Ship management is a highly skilled discipline with a high degree of complexity yet it has failed to follow with the same pace the advancements of performance measurement systems (PMSs) like other industries. Business performance measurement has only recently become a relevant topic in shipping. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the adoption of PMS in the shipping industry. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire was developed based on the performance measurement literature and submitted to 100 shipping companies around the world obtaining 41 usable questionnaires covering 13 countries from Europe, Asia and America. Findings – The adoption of performance measurement differs based on type of business: liquid bulk (tanker) vessels and bulk carriers or containers. Quality and safety management systems have fostered the adoption of performance measurement positively in tankers impacting decision making and the performance of shipping companies using PMS. Research limitations/implications – While the sample is representative of the situation of the industry, it represents the results of one point in time. Practical implications – The use of PMSs can be a tool to achieve superior performance but it may be fostered by, and has to be aligned with the needs of, internal and external stakeholders. Abstract:
Classroom climate is a comprehensive set of educational, psychological, social, cognitive, organizational, and physical variables that may affect the academic achievement of learners. Perceptions of students in their learning environment affect the way they perform in the classroom. However, classroom climate is a less explored construct creating much dearth on the local literature. Hence, the paper aimed to determine the degree of classroom climate in terms of discipline, learning, assessment, student interactions, attitude, and culture. Moreover, it also assessed if a significant difference exists when assessors are grouped according to the designation. Likewise, it determines the correlation between classroom climate and academic performance of junior high school students in a public school in Antique.

Vocabulary knowledge plays an important role in determining a person’s language proficiency level. This study investigates the role vocabulary plays in determining students’ performance within research modules at private higher education institutions (HEIs). The discipline-specific vocabulary in this study includes target words, sampled from an undergraduate research module’s prescribed textbook. A mixed-method design is used to explain students’ challenges and concerns with regard to research modules. An investigation is launched into students’ research vocabulary acquisition by administering pre- and post-testing with regular reliability. By measuring the students’ research vocabulary acquisition, the effectiveness of the research module’s (mostly incidental) learning process is determined. The relationship between the students’ research vocabulary acquisition and their research module performance as part of a Bachelor of Education degree (B.Ed.) curriculum is also established. This study contributes to the development of best practices and the advancement of institutional research development across HEI; it also stimulates interdisciplinary engagement within the research field research modules at HEI in South Africa.

Abstract:
The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of my country clearly pointed out that it is necessary to cultivate high-quality teachers, which means improving the physical education ability of our country. The construction of physical education teachers in colleges and universities should not only have good professional skills but also have a profound theoretical foundation, which requires strengthening their teaching evaluation. Therefore, evaluating their teaching effects has become an important topic in the current teaching reform. For a long time, the theoretical teaching performance evaluation of domestic university sports majors mostly adopts quantitative methods such as paper and pen, pursuing precision, and quantification, thus greatly improving the comprehensive quality of students. This study is to analyze the academic performance of vocational basic courses of basketball in colleges and universities, using the quantitative evaluation method and developmental evaluation idea. The conclusion is that the teaching emphases of each discipline can be distinguished based on the evaluation criteria of teachers’ academic qualifications and quantitative evaluation so as to find the development direction of each discipline of sports basketball and the degree of goal completion.

Abstract:
This comparative study describes and analyzes work effectiveness of civil servants (PNS) and contract employees (TK2D) of the Population and Civil Registration Office (DISDUKCAPIL) of Kutai Timur District. This qualitative descriptive research uses purposive sampling technique and primary as well as secondary data as data sources. The results of this study concluded that work effectiveness of contract employees outperforms those of civil servants. This is influenced by employee status, remuneration system, and workplace assignments. Salaries of those who have “vulnerable” status (contract employees) depend on such a status and attendance record. To increase or maintain their salaries, they should have a good attendance record. Furthermore, as they are mostly assigned to technical works in computer operating system, data processing and data verification for public service, this requires work discipline and performance. All of these aspects motivate them to do their best. On the other hand, permanent status (meaning fixed salaries) and the degree of discipline (which does not much influence allowances) have considerable impact on civil servants’ work motivation, hence, work effectiveness. It is common, therefore, to see civil servants come late to the office and thus their workplace discipline is questioned. Keywords: work effectiveness, civil servants, contract employees, PNS, TK2D

Abstract:
Introduction. In recent years, the structure and content of training of specialists of further education have significantly improved. The increased popularity of the secondary vocational education system is evidenced by the fact that more than half of the Russian teenagers after graduating from the main stage of secondary school become applicants of technical schools and colleges. In order to manage students’ education more effectively, among other measures, it is necessary to diagnose the motivation of enrolled students at the stage of admission to the educational institution and to identify the degree of awareness of their future career choice, as these factors directly depend on the success of educational programmes. The aim of the article was to reveal the trends of influence of students’ results at the Basic State Exam (OGE – the exam, which is taken when finishing education in the 9th (final) form of comprehensive school) on the level of knowledge of Computer Science in colleges and to find out the subjective reasons of students’ preferences for the secondary vocational education system to continue studies and to enter a profession.Methodology and research methods. In the course of the study, a review and generalisation of the content of scientific sources related to the problems of professional choice and training motivation were used. Diagnostics of motivation of college students in Moscow, Moscow region and the regions of Russia was conducted through the methods of testing, surveys and anonymous questioning. Processing of the obtained data was carried out by the methods of correlation, variance and regression analysis; the degree of statistical reliability of the results was evaluated by calculating the Student’s t-test and the Fisher’s F-test.Results and scientific novelty. The authors have calculated the numerical indicators of relationship between students’ academic performance in computer science and the Basic State Exam taking, the reasons for choosing the secondary vocational education and the specialty. Constructed graphs and approximating curves prove the fact that the success degree when learning the certain discipline in college results from the assessment within the discipline taken at the Basic State Exam in school. In the regions of Russia, this factor guarantees a higher level of knowledge on Computer Science – by about 20%, and in the Moscow region – by 10%. The statistics on respondents’ professional orientation were collected. A regression model, demonstrating the impact of students’ motivational attitudes on their training in the subject discipline, is presented. It was found out that the motives “subsequent admission to a specialised university”, “obtaining a profession”, “business attitude to a profession” and “prestige of a profession” have the most positive influence in this context. The variance analysis confirmed the determinism of the learning outcomes by the reasons for the choice of secondary vocational education and profession. It is concluded that the reasons for the low or medium students’ performance include not only their weak motivation for education, but also the state of the entire education system, including the institutions of the Basic State Exam (OGE) and the Unified State Exam (EGE – high school final and university entrance exam taken upon completion of the 11th form), as well as the lack of clear criteria for the admission of applicants to the institutions of secondary vocational education. To get a specific specialty, the desire to study, its informed choice and prestige of profession positively affect students’ learning outcomes in Computer Science education.Practical significance. The research materials can be useful for teachers of secondary vocational education and for specialists involved in career guidance.

First we will try to define what we mean by intelligent control and by manipulation tasks.Unfortunately, intelligent control is a somewhat imprecise term, just like the word control itself, so that its meaning can vary widely depending on the application and on the writer's scientific discipline. In general terms, we can say that intelligent control implies some degree of autonomy in performing a task while accommodating uncertainty. In the control of sensor-based robot systems, we could characterize an intelligent controller as one with the following capabilities;

Abstract:
The study aims to assess the impact of the video-case as an additional support tool in Social Work learning practice. The practical character of the discipline requires assessing the practical knowledge acquisition through different teaching and learning methodologies. The research was conducted with 118 Social Work Degree Students at the University of Jaén (Spain). Participants were randomly assigned to two conditions: face-to-face class (control group) vs. audiovisual class (experimental group). Both video-cases and learning were focused on Family Treatment Teams functioning in Spain. After watching the video or attending the class, participants filled in two questionnaires: The General Satisfaction Scale and the Performance Test. Among other results, ANOVA showed that participants in the audiovisual condition assessed the acquisition of skills and cognitive processes (memory and attention) better than those in the face-to-face condition. Meanwhile, the performance was not affected by the condition assigned. In conclusion, this research proves the positive effect of video-cases in Social Work practical learning processes as an extra tool.

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to introduce to sociologists the concept of dissociative hypnosis and to demonstrate the potential that this discipline has for obtaining or deriving biographical narratives in ethnographic and autoethnographic studies.Design/methodology/approachThe paper presents brief comparative histories of the development of hypnosis and of performance autoethnography to highlight the degree of consonance between these apparently, disparate modalities, in their struggle for acceptance and respectability. The intensely introspective, emotional and experiential nature of hypnosis and self-hypnosis narratives is then compared with the personal descriptions and applications of the autoethnographic process as depicted in the sociological literature, to illustrate the parallels between the two modalities. The paper concludes with a review of the potential problems and limitations inherent in using hypnosis as a memory recall modality in sociological research studies.FindingsThis paper argues that the exploratory and revelatory nature of information accrual during dissociative altered-state hypnosis closely resembles that during performance autoethnography, and that hypnosis could therefore be usefully employed as an additional and novel (ethno-) autobiographical tool in sociological and ethnographic research.Originality/valuePerformative autoethnography has now become a firmly established route to obtaining a valid and intensely personal autobiographical history of individuals or groups of individuals. However this is the first publication to propose hypnosis as an alternative approach to deriving ethnographic and autoethnographic biographical narratives.

More specifically, through my reflections on my past coaching, my present teaching, and the process of writing this paper, I consider how the act of problematizing, as informed by such Foucauldian concepts as docility, discipline, and power-knowledge, can serve to transform coach development and with that, of course, coaching and all that that entails.

Abstract:
Purpose The main purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between human capital investments and financial performance in the professional football industry. The authors examine this association by controlling for internal (club-level) mechanisms of governance. Specifically, as they deal with a context of highly concentrated ownership and familial control of football clubs, they posit that the degree of family board representation and a dual leadership structure exert a moderating effect on the decision to spend on playing talent. Design/methodology/approach The empirical analysis employs a fixed-effect econometric model on a panel data set of 16 Italian football clubs that spans a nine-year time period ending up with 144 firm-year observations. Findings The main novel finding of this investigation is that clubs with CEO duality and a high degree of family board representation manage to profit from investments in player contracts as opposed to clubs which lack these governance mechanisms. Research limitations/implications A clear implication is that the presence of corporate governance mechanisms at club level may be value-enhancing. In terms of policy direction, the finding makes the case that regulatory bodies should consider the imposition of governance mechanisms at club level as a means to promote actual financial discipline and a further ally to current regulations that are restricted to monitoring processes tied to accounting data. Originality/value This study attempts to explain the financial outcomes of player investments by combining insights from the mainstream governance and family business literature. Prior works in the field are restricted to testing the direct relation between player investments and performance, but fail to consider the potential moderators of this association.

In the article we have analyzed the significance and importance of the “Infection Control” discipline in pursuing a master’s degree in nursing. The article states that the master nurse is the lead organizer and executor of activities related to the creation of a safe hospital environment, while the correctness and completeness of the actions at the workplace depends on the depth of theoretical knowledge and sophistication of practical skills. The paper specifies the general and occupational competencies, forms and methods of conducting lectures and practical sessions, describes the expected results of training, indicates interdisciplinary integration, draws attention to the problems of honesty in the performance of autonomous and individually research work by the seekers of higher education. It is noted that the practical health care needs such a master nurse, who not only possesses thorough professional knowledge, but also is capable to act clearly and quickly in an emergency, perfectly master up-to-date techniques of preventing, in particular, the healthcare-associated infections through the developed clinical judgment. It is the competency based potential capacity of the “Infection Control” academic discipline that makes it possible to realize these tasks. The priority area of improving the educational process is its practical orientation and significance.

Abstract:
It is well established that there is a national problem surrounding the equitable participation in and completion of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) higher education programs. Persons excluded because of their ethnicity or race (PEERs) experience lower course performance, major retention, sense of belonging, and degree completion. It is unclear though how pervasive these issues are across an institution, from the individual instructor, course, and discipline perspectives. Examining over six years of institutional data from a large-enrollment, research-intensive, minority-serving university, we present an analysis of racial opportunity gaps between PEERs and non-PEERs to identify the consistency of these issues. From this analysis, we find that there is considerable variability as to whether a given course section taught by a single instructor does or does not exhibit opportunity gaps, although encouragingly we did identify exemplar instructors, course-instructor pairs, courses, and departments that consistently had no significant gaps observed. We also identified significant variation across course-instructor pairs within a department, and found that certain STEM disciplines were much more likely to have courses that exhibited opportunity gaps relative to others. Across nearly all disciplines though, it is clear that these gaps are more pervasive in the lower division curriculum. This work highlights a means to identify the extent of inequity in STEM success across a university by leveraging institutional data. These findings also lay the groundwork for future studies that will enable the intentional design of STEM education reform by leveraging beneficial practices used by instructors and departments assigning equitable grades.

Abstract:
Senior year students of BSc (Hons) in Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) are trained to be future environmental and safety practitioners. However, they usually show relatively weak English ability when proceeding with their study in articulation degree programmes. Their ability to communicate fluently in English is pivotal to the advancement of their career, particularly for numerous international opportunities. All the EOSH students are Chinese and are expected to communicate in English at work, which indicates the importance of English proficiency. Therefore, a trial course perfectly tailored to meet the professional needs of senior year students with job-related examples was developed to improve their confidence level in communication, particularly the syntax, semantics and lexis of English language. The intended objectives were assessed by reviewing students’ performance and feedback. A pre-test and a post-test were conducted to ascertain the English language proficiencies of the students before and after the English bridging course respectively. Further, a pre-designed questionnaire survey was distributed to the senior year students before and after the English bridging course to collect information about their confidence level with four identified areas, including overall language proficiency, specific writing skills, specific listening skills and specific speaking skills. The results showed that the confidence level of senior year students was low before the English bridging course, while the confidence level was moderate after the English bridging course. There was also significant improvement in their confidence level after the English course for all the identified areas. The results suggest that an English bridging course should be conducted in English by native speakers and supplemented with Cantonese from non-native speakers to enhance the understanding and confidence level of the senior year students.

Abstract:
Writing-to-learn involves the use of low-stakes informal writing activities intended to help students reflect on concepts or ideas presented in a course. Writing-to-learn can be a flexible and effective tool to help students understand and engage with course concepts, and past research has shown that writing-to-learn activities can substantially improve performance on summative assessments. Not only is coherent writing helpful for learning, it is also a skill that students are expected to acquire during their degree. However, it can be a challenge to provide writing opportunities that are both interesting to students and easy for instructors to implement and grade, particularly in courses with a large number of students. Reflective journaling is one method that can address these learning objectives. The versatility of reflective writing means that it can be adapted to suit a number of different disciplines. In this essay, we will explore reflective writing as a subgenre of writing-to-learn activities, summarizing some of the benefits associated with these assignments that have been described in the pedagogical literature. We will then describe how to tailor the assignments to different kinds of disciplines, including STEM courses, professional programs, and the social sciences and humanities. We will provide some guidance on how to resolve tension around marking and feedback for such an assignment. Finally, we will describe our individual experiences with using this kind of assignment in two courses. As there were a number of contextual differences between the two courses, including size and discipline, our commentary is advanced within the specific context supplied by each.

Abstract:
The equine breeding industry for sport’s performance has evolved into a fairly profitable economic activity. In particular, the Caballo de Deporte Español (CDE) is bred for different disciplines with a special focus on Show Jumping. The main aim of this study was to determine the effects of 15 years of selection and to find out whether it has been effective and adequate regarding the CDE main breeding objectives. The whole pedigree of 19,045 horses registered as CDE was used, comprising 47,884 animals (18,799 males and 29,085 females). An analysis performed to check for the pedigree completeness level yielded a number of equivalent complete generations (t) equal to 1.95, an average generation interval (GI) of 10.87 years, mean inbreeding coefficient (F) of 0.32%, an average relatedness coefficient (AR) of 0.09% and an effective population size (Ne) of 204. For the analyses, animals were divided into fourteen breed groups. Additionally, in order to study the evolution of these breeds over time and their influence on CDE pedigree, five different periods were considered according to the year of birth of the animals. Performance data used in the analyses were the estimated breeding values (EBV) of the Show Jumping sport discipline of 12,197 horses in the CDE pedigree, available from the 2020 routine genetic evaluations of the CDE breeding program (starting in 2004). Dressage and Eventing EBV values were also assessed. Results showed values of F higher than expected under random mating; this pointed to some degree of inbred matings. With regard to the evolution of breeding values, we found that, in general, EBVs of offspring were higher than the EBVs of parents. Notwithstanding, there is still a need for improvement in population management and the coordination of the breeders to get higher responses but controlling the loss of genetic diversity in the CDE breed.

Abstract:
The evaluation of performance is one of the important tasks done by a manager or a leader. In evaluating employees’ performance like and dislike is one factor that should be avoided by an evaluator to maintain the objectivity of the evaluation. The evaluation is necessary because it can be used to improve decision concerning personnel or to give feedback regarding the employees’ performance. There are two variables that can influence performance the first one is individual variable including attitude, characteristics, interests and motivation, experience, age, sex, education and other factors. The second one is situational variable that consists of physical and work factor, types of training and evaluation, wage system and social environment. Thus, it can be concluded that organization culture and employee’s performance are interdependent factors. The importance of organization culture in the organization life will increase employees’ performance. The organization culture that is employed at PT. Nittoh Presisi Indonesia are: Seiri (orderly), Seiton (neatness), Seiso (cleanliness), Seiketsu (eternal) and Sitshuke (discipline). The criteria in evaluating employee’s performance at PT Nittoh Presisi Indonesia among other things are: attendance sheet, obeying company’s rules, understanding of order, work diligence, partnership among colleagues, the quantity of target goal, the quality of the target work and capability and potential development. From ANOVA results on experiment variables it was found that F counted was 62.966 while the value of F table with degree of freedom (df = 2 and 56) on the α = 0.005 was 2.80. Therefore, since the value of F counted is bigger than F table (62.966 > 2.80), it can be concluded that the organization culture influences the employee’s performance at PT Nittoh Presisi Indonesia.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between intelligence and behavior during leader development. Design/methodology/approach – As part of a leader development program, a variety of measures are collected, including measures of intelligence and measures of performance (e.g. assessment center performance, a 360-degree appraisal). The participants are given performance feedback from a variety of sources then asked to form developmental goals. The goals are examined for goal quality and goal-feedback correspondence, and examined in relation to intelligence. Findings – Intelligence was positively related to goal-feedback correspondence. Intelligence was also related to goal quality after controlling for variance attributed to professional discipline. Research limitations/implications – Personality, gender, age, and other variables were not included in this study. Other factors, such as the cultures of the organizations from which the individuals hailed, were also not included. Moreover, the conclusions were based on the behaviors exhibited in one leader development program. Future research should address these limitations. Practical implications – Leader development is expensive and is becoming more popular. The results of this research could help organizations better determine who is likely to benefit from the investment in leader development. Originality/value – In addition, a unique method is presented in the study for measuring leader development behavior based on goal quality and goal-feedback correspondence. Generalizability theory is applied in order to determine the reliability of the measures.

Abstract:
Purpose – A key driver of procurement effectiveness is the alignment of the procurement function with interlinked functions, such as R & D, engineering, production, and marketing. In the strategic management literature, the degree of alignment of individual team members on strategic objectives is termed “consensus.” The purpose of this paper is to investigate antecedents of consensus on objectives in cross-functional sourcing teams, the relationship between the degree of consensus and supplier performance, and moderators of the consensus-performance relationship. To do so, it ties strategic management literature to SCM and supplier selection research. As a result of these investigations, this research holistically introduces the concept of consensus to the discipline. Design/methodology/approach – The study analyzes a sample of 88 sourcing teams (233 team members) from three manufacturing companies using regression analysis and moderated regressions. Findings – Consensus on objectives for supplier selection among sourcing team members is positively related to the selection of higher performing suppliers. Sourcing team member experience is positively related to the level of consensus, and formalization of the selection process positively moderates the consensus-performance relationship. Team demographic diversity does not affect consensus among team members or supplier selection effectiveness. Research limitations/implications – This study investigates consensus on objectives as a state within the sourcing team; it does not analyze how decision-making processes unfold in situations of low- or high-initial consensus among sourcing team members. Practical implications – This paper provides insights into the drivers and effects of consensus on objectives and formalization of supplier selection in cross-functional setups. Originality/value – This research addresses a gap in the SCM literature by investigating the role of consensus on objectives and thereby contributes to a better understanding of cross-functional sourcing team setups and effectiveness. The study introduces a key construct from the strategic management literature to supply management research, and empirical evidence shows how consensus can improve supplier selection performance.

Abstract:
Technology is advancing exponentially, while knowledge of technology is growing linearly. This is the very reason for a disruptive effect technological progress often has on all areas of society including law. The discipline that studies the application of technology to law is called LegalTech. In economic terms, LegalTech connects the technology market with the legal services` providers. Using he degree of influence of technology on the traditional tasks of the legal profession as the criterion, the field of LegalTech is divided into LegalTech 1.0, 2.0. and 3.0. The development of LegalTech includes the following areas: text analysis, information research, automation of legal services and predictive analysis of legal issues. Created as a result of digitalization, LegalTech is here to stay. The efforts of the academic community are crucial for the legally regulated, technologically balanced, and socially controlled development of the LegalTech phenomenon. The application of technology in law does not mean automation at all costs: it should be based on the complementarity of human efforts and the performance technology delivers in the process of providing legal services’ optimal quality.

Abstract:
Abstract As art educators, we should be past the point of being afraid of or threatened by assessment. As a discipline we need it, but two persistent questions remain: What should assessment look like, and how do we go about creditably assessing it? This paper addresses these questions with a focused inquiry of visual art assessment literature. The results strengthen the conceptual foundation for the "bundled" assessment model, confirm that authentic and performance-based visual arts assessment is greatly needed, and make clear that new tests should measure cognitive contributions found specifically in visual arts learning. The results also lead to the development and construction of sample items that can be "bundled" together by their type and kind, featuring a degree of item selection flexibility, using varied separate and aggregated scoring options, and employing a number of contemporary and folk art exemplars. This paper and the sample test items will significantly contribute to the body of knowledge about visual art assessment and give us a glimpse into what students learn specifically when they make, respond to, and think about visual art.

Abstract:
This article highlights findings from evaluation of a bridging program for international students at a large Canadian university. Designed specifically for the postsecondary context, the program moved along the continuum from a general, skills-based approach to English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teaching and learning, in which the focus may be on developing linguistic and communicative strategies common across academic subject areas, toward an approach that emphasizes context-specific, disciplinary uses of language. This shift from general to specific reflects the program’s interest in cultivating a more embedded, discipline-specific model for language teaching and learning in higher education, toward an English for Specific Purposes (ESAP) framework. Understanding this approach from a disciplinary literacy lens, the article describes the program model and examines relations among students’ language proficiency assessments, performance in the program, and subsequent performance in degree programs.

Abstract:
Chemical Engineering is a complex discipline that is mainly applied to the industrial context, which makes it difficult to approach real equipment and systems in the classroom to students. Nevertheless, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are particularly useful to encourage active and autonomous learning, normally associated with deeper levels of engagement and understanding of the subjects taught. In this way, several studies have demonstrated that immersion has the potential to increase learning experiences and improve creativity and engagement, Virtual Reality (VR) being a remarkable example. In this context, we created and shared with students two immersive resources based on VR: (a) a laboratory 360° video tour, which was used to disseminate the Chemical Engineering Degree in an Open Door Days organized for high school students; and (b) an experiential learning tool integrated with Moodle, which was available previously to face-to-face practical lessons of the subject Separation Operations. In both cases, the feedback from the participant students was positive. High school students increased their interest in Chemical Engineering Degree after viewing the 360° video, meanwhile undergraduate students found the immersive tool useful in the subsequent performance of real practical activities. From the perspective of professors, creation of these resources required purchase of equipment, time and effort, but they were highly valued as a tool for disseminating and supporting teaching, being an initial starting point for the creation of more enhanced VR-based materials.

Abstract:
This article investigates the mediation of teachers in a reality-TV program, how gender, femininity, masculinity and emotions interact in a school fiction. The reality-TV program, Klass 9A, consisting of 13 episodes, was broadcasted in Swedish television during spring 2008. In the program, viewers could follow a high school class during the fall semester 2007. The class teachers were replaced by “eight of Sweden’s foremost educators” (the TV-producer´s words) to help the pupils improve their scores from low level to the third best class in the country during that semester. In that sense this was a Makeover-television and in analyzing the teachers, they are treated as constructions of the producers. Theoretically and methodologically Sara Ahmed’s concept of emotions are used – what emotions do between people, giving and constructing attributes. Three teachers, two men and one woman, are exemplifying the analysis. The (male) math teacher’s pedagogical strategy is love, an approach he both articulate and perform. Love as a teaching method appears as an exercise of power, a patriarchal and biblically informed performance and a powerful discipline tool. In the sport subject, the (male) teacher act to a high degree as a coach, engaging in a democratic sport leadership. He is doing it with empathy, in a way feminine, but without loosing his masculinity, secured by his traditionally male subject sport. The female teacher (Swedish language) is doing masculinity, disembodied by how the producers represent her, but is embodied in the end of the semester, by being represented as sentimental and caring when it comes to the final test. In that sense she is castrated, made less powerful and brought back to the conception of female teachers as carrying. The program supports the conception of missing male teachers in school and a longing for old time discipline.
