Abstract:
Background. To accurately evaluate sports social discipline’s academic influence in China, a model of academic influence evaluation of sports social discipline in China based on bibliometrics is proposed. Objective. A statistical model of the academic influence of sports social discipline is constructed, the word frequency statistics method is used to measure the literature, and the semantic characteristic quantity of the sports social discipline academic influence is extracted, using the literature method and logical analysis method to analyze sports’ social value in the Internet era from healthy sports. The combination of sports and medical treatment can comprehensively promote physical and mental health. Methods. The dual semantic feature decomposition method is used to analyze sports social discipline’s academic influence. The statistical analysis model of sports social discipline academic influence is established. The principles of fuzzy pattern recognition include the principle of maximum membership degree and proximity degree. Results. The comprehensive relative closeness of the distribution of literature statistics on sports and social disciplines’ academic influence is constructed. The linear programming analysis of literature statistics is carried out using the standardized grid computing method. Conclusions. The combination of association rule feature extraction and semantic feature extraction is used to realize the quantitative calculation of literature statistics and academic influence. The simulation results show that the statistical analysis of the academic influence of sports and social discipline by this method is accurate, and the level of confidence is high.

Abstract:
Diabetes mellitus, or just diabetes, is a gathering of diseases described by high blood glucose levels that outcome from surrenders in the body's capacity to deliver or potentially use insulin. It is a condition essentially characterized by the degree of hyperglycaemia bringing about risk of microvascular harm (retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy). It is related with decreased future, critical grimness because of explicit diabetes related microvascular complications, expanded risk of macrovascular complications (ischaemic coronary illness, stroke and fringe vascular sickness), and reduced personal satisfaction Several pathogenetic processes are engaged with the advancement of diabetes. As the diabetes is a slow progressive disease which causes target organ damage if not control. Study shows that controlled diabetics have also risk of target organ damage. Managing a diabetic patient needs to be combination of diet, discipline and drugs. Only drugs is given by the physician but the other two control parameter like diet and discipline is done by the patient himself. Life style modification can bring these two factors under control.

Abstract:
The article deals with the meaningful content of educational disciplines of geoecological profile, which should ensure qualitative changes in the educational process and the introduction of innovative technologies for it to successfully implement the practical knowledge acquired by students of theoretical knowledge. Due to the increasing of the dangerous consequences of human activity and the complication of current geoecological problems, the geoecological profession and the ability of higher education institutions graduates to introduce the acquired knowledge in practical activity become extremely urgent. One of the main ways from theory to practice in the process of acquiring higher education is the geoecological approach to optimizing the spatial-temporal structural-functional landscape organization of the territory. The meaningful content of the three structural blocks of the academic discipline “Geoecology of Ukraine” for Master degree students should correspond to the general research methodology, the main geoecological problems and the application of research results to solve these problems. At different stages of studying the discipline, appropriate forms and methods of ensuring the educational process are used. At the initial stage, such forms are the organization of non-standard lecture lessons in the form of multimedia presentations, as well as seminars with tests, public speeches and student discussions. The main stage of studying the discipline is devoted to the analysis of modern geoecological problems of Ukraine. The disclosure of these problems should be based on the scheme “the influence of inefficient nature management – the change of geo- ecosystems components – violation of these components geoecological functions due to negative effects – ways to restore broken communications”. At this stage of discipline studies, it is advisable to combine classic traditional teaching techniques with creative search, application of innovative educational technologies, original didactic ideas. Introduction in the educational process a relatively new for Ukraine Method of projects allows students to not only better learn lecture material, but also learn to independently acquire knowledge in close cooperation with the teacher. The method provides an individual work according to the plan drawn up by the project team, and the results of this work will have theoretical, practical and cognitive significance. The offered algorithm of carrying out students’ project activity is: first of all, the essence of the problem is revealed; then the factors and causes of its occurrence are analyzed; after that, the ways of solving the problem are being developed and their effectiveness is evaluated. The approximate themes of student projects within the framework of the educational discipline are determined, as well as the forms of interaction between students and the teacher at certain stages of work on the project. The themes of the last, applied, section of the discipline are related to the practical aspects of geoecological research and may be selected by students independently, on the example of their city, district, and region. This is important for students to understand the project activity as an adaptive strategy for the arrangement of a comfortable people environment. Upon assimilation of all educational program themes, future specialists become trained in practical implementation of the geoecological approach to optimization of nature using in order to solve actual problems. Upon assimilation of all educational program themes, future specialists become trained in practical implementation of the geoecological approach to optimization of nature using in order to solve actual problems.

Abstract:
Knowledge management is a growing discipline and its structure and boundaries have been examined using different perspectives. This study is based on the KM curricula of 13 graduate degree programmes for producing a KM framework, based on the collective wisdom of curriculum designers of these programmes. Analysis of curricula was conducted at two levels of course titles and course descriptions. Keywords and phrases were identified and listed, then reduced into relevant categories in three successive exercises of subtraction. Each identified term was treated as a module. If a module was offered in more than one programme or course, the number was provided for the occurrence in order to indicate the emphasis it received in different curricula. Thus, we have been able to identify major categories of KM curricula in these schools. There is a need for academics and experts in the field to further validate these results in subsequent research.

Abstract:
Project-based learning units are often used for large scale work integrated learning (WIL) experiences in Liberal Studies Degrees as they offer scalability and sustainability of delivery to large cohorts. This systematic search and review evaluates the effectiveness of interdisciplinary project-based learning in Science Degree programs for developing discipline knowledge and employability skills. Education literature databases were searched for peer-reviewed journal articles that discussed undergraduate science-based degree programs with project-based learning units involving students from multiple disciplines. Data were analysed for evidence of a skill gain in 6 areas (Discipline knowledge, Communication, Teamwork, Interdisciplinary effectiveness, Critical thinking and problem solving, and Self-management). Projects were assigned to categories based on interdisciplinary breadth and depth. Data was analysed by cross-tabulations, Fisher’s Exact test and by calculating odds ratios (OR), which indicate the effect size. Perception of a skill gain was significantly more likely to be reported than an objectively measured skill gain (p<0.001). Real discipline skill gains were 6.6 times more likely in projects narrow in discipline mix (OR 6.6), however perceived discipline skill gains were high irrespective of project type. Projects with wide interdisciplinarity were significantly associated with perceived gains in interdisciplinary effectiveness (OR 32, p<0.05) and more likely to have perceived gains in communication (OR 2.5) and teamwork (OR 3.4) skills. When projects have greater interdisciplinary breadth or depth, perceived student employability skill gains increase, perceived discipline skill gains are unaffected, however actual discipline skill gains are less reported. Further research and evidence that project-based learning is meeting the desired WIL learning objectives of the curriculum is needed.

Abstract:
The article deals with the level of loyalty of the personnel of construction enterprises. The comprehensive methodology. recommendations for its improvement are developed. The comprehensive methods include the following methods: assessing staff turnover, determining the degree of team cohesion, assessing the state of moral and psychological climate, determining the level of work discipline, assessing the level of motivation based on self-esteem and direct assessment of loyalty by L. Porter’s method “Organizational Loyalty Questionnaire” V. Dominyak. The base of the study was five enterprises of Zaporizhia, the main type of economic activity of which according to the NACE belongs to group 42.2 “Construction of communications”. Among the surveyed organizations were medium and small enterprises, the total number of employees of which was 487 people. The application of a comprehensive methodology for assessing the level of loyalty of construction personnel allowed to determine that the average corresponds to a satisfactory level, due to: the average level of group cohesion of labor collectives; unsatisfactory state of moral and psychological climate in small production groups; the absence of any programs at enterprises to ensure and improve labor discipline of staff; low level of motivational influence of organizational culture and the desire for self-realization of workers. Solving certain problems of the internal environment of enterprises will significantly increase the level of staff loyalty. The main directions of organizational change should be: conducting team-building activities; control and improvement of working conditions of staff; moral and material incentives for staff; analysis and forecasting of potential loyalty / disloyalty of new employees; development of a program for adaptation of new employees; development of methods of working with disloyal staff; development of a program for the development and improvement of professional competencies of staff; improvement and development of organizational culture of enterprises; formation of loyalty of the personnel of the enterprises through realization of the program of social responsibility.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to trace the knowledge diffusion patterns between the publications of top journals of computer science and physics to uncover the knowledge diffusion trends. Design/methodology/approach The degree of information flow between the disciplines is a measure of entropy and received citations. The entropy gives the uncertainty in the citation distribution of a journal; the more a journal is involved in spreading information or affected by other journals, its entropy increases. The citations from outside category give the degree of inter-disciplinarity index as the percentage of references made to papers of another discipline. In this study, the topic-related diffusion across computer science and physics scholarly communication network is studied to examine how the same research topic is studied and shared across disciplines. Findings For three indicators, Shannon entropy, citations outside category (COC) and research keywords, a global view of information flow at the journal level between both disciplines is obtained. It is observed that computer science mostly cites knowledge published in physics journals as compared to physics journals that cite knowledge within the field. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study that traces knowledge diffusion trends between computer science and physics publications at journal level using entropy, COC and research keywords.

THIS article represents a review of trends in the development of Communication as academic discipline In South Africa. Sallent results of a number of surveys are the following: (a) large number of students have graduated over the past ten years (B degrees -3279; Honours = 489; Masters = 82 and at least 22 doctorates). Wide differences in post-graduate penetration be tween universities are also noticeable (see tables 1 and 2; (b) Mass communication is at present the single most frequently offered course in university communication curricula while theory and methodology as indepen dent communication courses figure fairly prominently. Speech and interpersonal com munication are not salient in university courses (see figure 1); (c) Since 1980 a total of 182 research projects in communication have been completed. As in the case of teaching, mass communication has been the most popular field of research. In contrast hardly any research on methodological problems have been under taken over the past seven years (see figure 2); (d) Analysis of applications by com munication students and researchers for financial support from the HSRC indicated that their success rates have been lower than comparable disciplines (see figure 3). Against the background of the importance and relevance of communication to contemporary South African society the paper concludes with a number of interpretations and future challenges

Abstract:
Abstract Systems and services based on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) are now prevalent in our daily lives. Digital transformations have been, and are still being, initiated across private and public sectors. As such, the consequences of digital exclusion are severe and may block access to key aspects of modern life, such as education, employment, consumerism and health services. In order to combat this, regions and countries such as the USA, Canada, EU and Scandinavia have all legislated universal design (UD) in relation to ICT, in order to ensure as many citizens as possible have the opportunity to access and use digital information and services. However, there has been limited research into how higher educational programs address legislated accessibility responsibilities. This paper looks into the discipline of interaction design (IxD). IxD is the design domain focused on ‘how human beings relate to other human beings through the mediating influence of products’ (Buchanan, R. (2001) Designing research and the new learning. Des. Issues, 17, 3–23). The study presents an analysis of Norwegian higher educational programs within IxD. Based on document analysis, we map the skillsets the study programs state to deliver and investigate to what degree UD expertise is included. Our findings indicate the study programs do not deliver adequate training in UD, in order to fulfill the professional responsibilities related to ICT accessibility. From our findings, we extrapolate five ‘archetypes’ of interaction designers. These personas-like analytical constructs hold slightly different characteristics. For each of the five, we propose UD expertise fitting key skillsets. We hope our contributions are useful both for the higher education sector and the industry and will contribute to raised awareness of UD skills so they can educate interaction designers in their different industry roles with required competences. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS We indicate the current content of interaction design (IxD) programs in higher education and document the lacking focus on universal design (UD). We identify five different archetypes of interaction designers being educated in such programs. We describe key skillsets and strengths for each archetype. We propose UD expertise for the (IxD) profession and link UD expertise to archetype skillsets to emphasize relevance.

Abstract:
This article takes a closer look at the training of data journalists by examining in detail the postgraduate courses offered in Spanish universities. The starting point is a systematic compilation of the official degrees in this field that can be found in the databases of the Spanish Ministry of Universities, as well as a comparative analysis of the existing degrees for two academic years (2020/2021 and 2022/2023). This quantitative study is complemented by a survey of Spanish-speaking data journalism professionals about their training. The goal of this research is to shed light on current training in this discipline, which is one of the most promising for the future of journalism. The findings reflect an emerging but still evolving educational landscape consisting of fourteen specialised data journalism degree programmes, all of which will be offered as postgraduate programmes in the 2022/2023 academic year. These postgraduate programmes are primarily internal and offered by private universities. However, our survey of professionals showed that only 7% of communication specialists have training in this journalistic field. Consequently, Spain is one of the countries where data journalism has not yet fully taken hold in newsrooms due to a lack of adequate training and appropriately trained professionals.

Abstract:
Each year, many students opt to study physics at higher education level in the UK – at the University of Glasgow, this number is around 180. A small number of these students, though, choose to leave this area after only one year. Over two academic years (2018-2019 and 2019-2020), there were 16 students such students. The work presented here explores the reasons why they left. Whilst the structure of degrees at UofG allows for students to make such a change, it was important to understand why students would choose to make such a significant change in case it pointed to negative factors in the way the course was being delivered. A study of literature found five main broad factors that influenced the decisions of students to change degree topic: content of course (including how it was delivered), gender stereotypes, peers and the wider university community, salary and job opportunities, and staff. These areas were explored in interviews and emails. It was found that course content and job prospects played a stronger role in influencing the students’ decisions than the other factors. Positives in other disciplines, and poor communication of the positives within physics, contributed to the students’ decisions. Similar issues may exist in any discipline; therefore, a better understanding of these motivating factors will allow us to improve our teaching and advising provisions to ensure that no-one is unnecessarily lost from a particular path.

The family medicine researches flourished worldwide in the past decade. However, the collaborative patterns of family medicine publications had not been reported. Our study analyzed the collaborative activity of family medicine researchers in Taiwan. We focused on the types of collaboration among disciplines, institutions and countries. We searched “family medicine” AND “Taiwan” in address field from Web of Science and documented the disciplines, institutions and countries of all authors. We analyzed the collaborative patterns of family medicine researchers in Taiwan from 2010 to 2014. The journal’s impact factor of each article in the same publication year was also retrieved. Among 1,217 articles from 2010 to 2014, interdisciplinary collaboration existed in 1,185 (97.3%) articles, interinstitutional in 1,012 (83.2%) and international in 142 (11.7%). Public health was the most common collaborative discipline. All international researches were also interdisciplinary and interinstitutional. The United States (75 articles), the United Kingdom (21) and the People’s Republic of China (20) were the top three countries with which family medicine researchers in Taiwan had collaborated. We found a high degree of interdisciplinary and interinstitutional collaboration of family medicine researches in Taiwan. However, the collaboration of family medicine researchers in Taiwan with family medicine colleagues of other domestic or foreign institutions was insufficient. The future direction of family medicine studies could focus on the promotion of communication among family medicine researchers.

(2) Oral communication education is being relegated to a “module” in another discipline-specific course. (3) When an oral communication course is included in the general education curriculum, that course tends to be narrow rather than broad in scope. (4) An increasing number of college faculty who teach oral communication courses do not have a graduate degree in the discipline. These concerns may be indicative of similar issues affecting oral communication education throughout the United States and beyond. Solutions to each concern are offered, and suggestions are provided about how decision-making bodies like state departments of education, regional accrediting agencies, the National Communication Association, and the like can address these concerns. This paper first examines the essential role of oral communication before identifying four critical concerns and offering suggested solutions for oral communication education in Alabama. These concerns may be indicative of similar issues affecting oral communication regionally, nationally, and even internationally. If so, then the suggested solutions offered herein may provide direction. If not, then being proactive rather than reactive may prevent some or all of these concerns from becoming reality.

Abstract:
In this chapter, we address, selectively, how applied linguists and those concerned with discourse analysis in particular, have recently approached the study of health care communication, especially in intercultural contexts, and relate these approaches to studies undertaken by researchers in other academic disciplines such as the sociology of medicine and by health care practitioners in the course of their own work. At issue will be questions concerning selected sites and themes, the degree of distinctiveness of research methodologies and different understandings of what counts as data, and questions concerning reflexivity and practical relevance in terms of the use to which findings can be put. Appreciating areas of difference and similarity is a necessary basis for establishing the desirable, but potentially problematic, partnerships among academic disciplines and between such disciplines and the work of professional practitioners, both in research and in professional development. As a sample site in the delivery of health care in the framework of cultural and linguistic diversity, we identify nursing, and use this site and its practices to advocate the collaboration of applied linguists, professional practitioners, and researchers from other areas of social science in the exploration of health care communication in multilingual/multicultural contexts and elsewhere.

Abstract:
This article in the journalism education field reports on the construction of a new subject as part of a postgraduate coursework degree. The subject, or unit will offer both Journalism students and other students an introductory experience of creating media, using common ‘new media’ tools, with exercises that will model the learning of communication principles through practice. It has been named ‘Fundamental Media Skills for the Workplace’. The conceptualisation and teaching of it will be characteristic of the Journalism academic discipline that uses the ‘inside perspective’—understanding mass media by observing from within. Proposers for the unit within the Journalism discipline have sought to extend the common teaching approach, based on training to produce start-ready recruits for media jobs, backed by a study of contexts, e.g. journalistic ethics, or media audiences. In this proposal, students would then examine the process to elicit additional knowledge about their learning. The article draws on literature of journalism and its pedagogy, and on communication generally. It also documents a ‘community of practice’ exercise conducted among practitioners as teachers for the subject, developing exercises and models of media work. A preliminary conclusion from that exercise is that it has taken a step towards enhancing skills-based learning for media work.

Abstract:
In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, technology is advancing at a pace much faster than what individuals, societies and nations can cope with. Internet of Things (IoT) is one such technology that is sweeping the economic, business and service landscapes with its disruption mechanisms that influence areas such as smart homes, hospitals, cities, as well as transportation and energy utilization with many exciting and novel applications. Additionally, the job market is evolving at a rate that makes it difficult for universities to sustain a stable programme structure, especially in engineering and information and communication technology disciplines as well as specializations and domains associated with technology. While several universities worldwide have established IoT degree programs at bachelor and master levels, institutions in developing countries are still contemplating the idea of pioneering such venture due to a number of reasons related to technology vacillation as well as market and social acceptance. Princess Sumaya University for Technology has therefore designed a bachelor degree programme on IoT Engineering in order to bridge the gap in the Jordanian ICT market and to meet demands for specialized engineers in this rapidly evolving area. The university adapted an optimization design process of the program including a cycle of consultation with stakeholders, followed by a formal procedure of rectification and accreditation. The proposed program was successfully a launched at the beginning of the academic year 2021/2022 with an intake cohort of 50 students.

Students develop a big commitment personally and invest financially to pursue their education and get the degree that opens many gateways for them, but what if the degrees don’t match the skills required by most employers? As time has changed, employability is based on knowledge and several abilities such as soft skills, communication, leadership, creative and critical thinking. It is hard for universities to keep track of all these changes and, at the same time, the technological advancements, the hard facts and the skills of most of the disciplines. Our research aims to study the needs requested the most by employers. To achieve that, we started with a survey with some laureates and multiple interviews with different recruiters to identify their requirements. We can define the training students need to have before integrating the job market, ease their insertion, and make their integration successful.

Abstract:
The development of all spheres of public life is associated with the optimization of information processes (collection, storage, processing, transmission of information), so modern society is called information. Modern information and communication technologies play an important role in teaching a foreign language in non-philological higher education institutions. The organization of education using electronic tools allows significant deepening the professional knowledge and optimizing the educational process for students. Modern lexicography has significantly expanded and strengthened its tools with computer technology for creating and using dictionaries. Special programs (databases, computer files, word processing programs) let us automatically generate dictionary entries, store dictionary information and process it. The purpose of the study is to reveal the specifics of computer lexicography use for training managers in a modern agricultural university. To achieve this goal, a set of methods was used: theoretical: comparison and generalization (study of the degree of scientific development of the term “computer lexicography”), analysis, synthesis and generalization of psychological, pedagogical and methodological literature, theoretical forecasting and modeling of computer lexicography to determine scientific bases of the researched problem; empirical: diagnostic methods (interviews, interviews with teachers, questionnaires, analysis of products of professional activity of teachers, which provide philological disciplines in teaching the agricultural managers). The analysis of the problem showed its insufficient representation in modern scientific works. The article characterizes the role of disciplines of the philological cycle in the professional training of higher education students majoring in “Management”; the term “computer lexicography” is defined and its typology is singled out; the conditions for the introduction of computer lexicography in the educational process of agricultural universities are determined; analyzed software for the introduction of elements of computer lexicography in training the marketing specialists in agricultural universities; the positive and negative aspects of the use of computer lexicography as a component of education are revealed. The article for the first time revealed the specifics of the use of computer lexicography in teaching the philological disciplines for the specialty “Management” at the universities in the agricultural sector. The variety of trends in the introduction of computer lexicography at all stages of teaching the discipline is obvious, and, in particular, the variety of approaches to the creation of electronic dictionaries of different types. The obtained results allow deepening the knowledge of future specialists in the field of management, expanding the interests of higher education seekers, simplifying the work of students with special terminology, systematizing the acquired knowledge, improving the quality of philological disciplines through the introduction of information and communication technologies.

Abstract:
Higher Education Institutes across the world have started using social media to reach out to the prospective students as well as to interact with current students and alumni. Social media improves the communication on one hand and helps in promotional and development activities on the other. Present work explores the integration of social media in different processes in Higher Educational Institutes. A student enters the institute with admission process and exits after completion of degree. While on the campus, a student is involved in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. At the same time, a student participates in the communication with the fellow students and other corporate and social forums. In all of these activities, social media can play a prominent and vital role. However, the success of social media roles depends upon; how the different stakeholders are engaged. A comprehensive study has been carried out to identify the role of social media in different activities of the higher education institutes. These activities range from looking for the new students, engaging them on the campus and maintaining communication after they leave the campus. Implications from teaching-learning, administrative, marketing and communication perspective have been identified. A framework has been proposed to integrate the specific social media channels in different processes in the higher education institutes. The framework will be very much useful in developing successful social media campaigns for higher educational institutes as well as to effectively engage the stakeholders.

Abstract:
This article describes the development and implementation of Jenny Moon’s ‘Graduated scenarios’ (2004, 2001, 2009) in the disciplinary context of media production. Graduated scenarios have previously been used to model different levels of critical thinking and reflection and have been based on situations and experiences that can be related to by a wide range of people. Our development of them in a specific creative disciplinary context, for use by students within that context, represents an evolution of the process, but we also consider the possible reception of such models in the context of debates around academic literacies and the degree to which they may be seen and used as contributing to an orthodoxy of expression. We acknowledge that this experiment in writing and pedagogy may be perceived as providing ‘exemplars of standards’, but argue that it actually models differing depths of thinking, and also opens up discussion about orthodoxies of academic writing. Our four models of different levels of critical reflective writing are provided as appendices, and may be used or adapted as necessary. The production of such graduated accounts is ‘effortful work’, but the process can help us (academics) to better understand our own, as well as facilitating learners’, concepts of depth and ‘good practice’.

Abstract:
We consider the issue of interdisciplinary integration in teaching at Master’s Degree Programme of “Economics” and “Management”. It explains the important role of foreign languages and culture as the central element of the model of interdisciplinary integration at universities nowadays. It further proves that culture is a key to interdisciplinary integration in language learning of future Master’s Degree Student. Currently, a graduate of Master’s Degree Programme implies both being able to speak a modern language and use the knowledge of languages in working with up-to-date communication technologies when tackling professional tasks and collaborating with colleagues from other countries. Modern federal state education standard for Economics and Management require that Master’s Degree Programmes graduates are competent in the aspect of intercultural communication and know a foreign language at a high level. We suggest a Model of interdisciplinary integration in language teaching at Master’s Degree Programme, which includes target, content, organizational-methodic and perfomance-assessment components. This model implements the main language, culture, humane, innovation, environmental, axiological, valeological, acmeological, aesthetic and other orientations; principles integration and differentiation, continuity and consistency of education. The main purpose of interdisciplinary integration in foreing language teaching at Master’s Degree Programme is to form a well-founded, culturally full-fledged person able to speak a foreign language and operate modern communication technologies. Implementation of interdisciplinary integration in language teaching at Master’s Degree Programme demands coordinated actions of language teachers as well as major disciplines educators.

Communication instruction was initially a stable component of the program, with a week-long course at the beginning and a report-writing workshop at the end, followed by individual instruction in preparing deliverables for a consulting field project. Since the field projects were phased out in 2003, students continue to receive the one-week communication course in Vienna; after that, they have voluntary access to individual instruction from the Center for Business Communication at the University of South Carolina and exposure to in-class communication workshops as scheduled by faculty across the business disciplines. Although student feedback is positive, these instructional methods currently lack consistency. To achieve such consistency, a communication center can help to integrate instruction within MBA programs through communication intensive courses, writing studios, or a communication capstone course.

Abstract:
The article is based on the results of joint project between the University of Southern Denmark, Denmark, Southern Federal University, Russia and University of Østfold, Norway, “Cooperation active student learning, NCM-RU-2015/10060”, an international educational project aimed at intercultural skills development on the basis of a specific discipline “Innovation Management” at higher education level. Project training simulates real professional research situations in order to solve complex tasks. At the final stage of the project a student satisfaction survey was conducted in order to obtain some information about strengths and weaknesses of the present project. Our customized student feedback survey requires Danish, Norwegian and Russian students who have participated in the project to make an overall statement about their satisfaction with the participation in the project. Students’ satisfaction is a multidimensional process which is influenced by different factors, so survey respondents were asked to rate aspects of their educational, research and communication experience, from skill development and personal growth to quality of curriculum and instruction. Determining which features of the student experience in international teamwork are most closely related to satisfaction may provide information about actions that can be taken to maintain high level of project planning and implementation in the future.

Abstract:
Abstract Although science education and mathematics education share many characteristics as neighboring research disciplines, comparisons between the two research fields in the literature have rarely been made. In this study, we examine the two fields’ similarities and differences in the local context of South Korea by analyzing 2,426 research articles published in 15 selected local journals from both fields. The analysis revealed interesting commonalities and divergences across the two fields, suggesting a high degree of similarity in the distribution of research topics across the two fields. Nevertheless, some topics were more frequently studied in one field than the other. Based on the results, we suggest that understanding the ongoing research agendas and aims of adjacent disciplines such as mathematics education will be beneficial to the science education community by allowing self-reflection and facilitating interdisciplinary communication and collaboration. Several potential ways in which the two disciplines can cross-fertilize are discussed.

Abstract:
The sporting environment is a rich, unique, and salient context in which to study the basic and applied nature of a variety of social dynamics. Issues such as leadership, collective efficacy, team cohesion, and group goal setting undoubtedly have great theoretical and practical value within sport teams. Sport is completely permeated by the question of the diversity which it vividly enacts. The same way sports blends sporting spirit, competition drive and fair play it should also blend culturally different envisaged notions of non-uniformity, diversity, enrichment through other culture, other skin color, other language and other style of living. All disciplines are concerned to a more or less intense degree, depending on their popular support or lack of it and on the culture which they convey. Multiple origins and complex careers are now a hallmark: handball, rugby, basketball as well as individual sports like athletics, judo and tennis have their champions stemming from diversity, who form the tip of an equally variegated iceberg of school and amateur sport (Diamond P., Hausman J., 1994).

Abstract:
Abstract Although questionnaires are widely used in research impact assessment, their metric properties are not well known. Our aim is to test the internal consistency and content validity of an instrument designed to measure the perceived impacts of a wide range of research projects. To do so, we designed a questionnaire to be completed by principal investigators in a variety of disciplines (arts and humanities, social sciences, health sciences, and information and communication technologies). The impacts perceived and their associated characteristics were also assessed. This easy-to-use questionnaire demonstrated good internal consistency and acceptable content validity. However, its metric properties were more powerful in areas such as knowledge production, capacity building and informing policy and practice, in which the researchers had a degree of control and influence. In general, the research projects represented an stimulus for the production of knowledge and the development of research skills. Behavioural aspects such as engagement with potential users or mission-oriented projects (targeted to practical applications) were associated with higher social benefits. Considering the difficulties in assessing a wide array of research topics, and potential differences in the understanding of the concept of ‘research impact’, an analysis of the context can help to focus on research needs. Analyzing the metric properties of questionnaires can open up new possibilities for validating instruments used to measure research impact. Further to the methodological utility of the current exercise, we see a practical applicability to specific contexts where multiple discipline research impact is requires.

Abstract:
The knowledge-based model of education, in which the formation of the students’ skills to critically think, evaluate, analyze information and use it in their own research comes to the fore. However, it is necessary to note that the level of academic literacy is low, because students lack the academic writing skills needed to become successful professionals after graduation. This problem is caused by the lack of students’ motivation to write academic texts and present the result of their research work in front of the audience, the insufficient number of modern methods and approaches to teaching academic writing, the lack of special courses aimed at foreign language writing competence developing, as well as the absence of strategies for the formation of academic literacy which is the key competence for creating new knowledge. The article presents an analysis of the phenomenon of “academic literacy,” its structural components, on the basis of which the author suggests the indicators of its formation among undergraduates. Since academic literacy depends on the ability to communicate in academic discourse, the author of the article describes the experience of organizing the process of teaching written forms of professional and scientific communication to master’s degree students in law within the framework of the discipline “Foreign Language in Professional Communication.” Consistent writing skills training makes it possible to realize the requirements for academic literacy, namely: the ability to critically think, analyze information, accept and respect someone else’s point of view, create new knowledge, express ideas in a well-structured and accessible form, work independently, as well as evaluate the results of work. The process of mastering academic writing skills facilitates academic literacy of students, which opens up opportunities for effective communication in the academic community, as well as the successful integration of future specialists into scientific professional communities.

Abstract:
The service sector provides employment for more than 70% of the active population in developed countries, in areas as varied as tourism, commerce, logistics, finances, services, and personnel, amongst others. Despite the fact that society increasingly needs more professionals who are oriented towards this sector, there are hardly any specific plans that will provide them with appropriate training. The appearance of service science, management, and engineering (SSME) has led to a significant advance as regards understanding the skills required by a service professional. It is a transdisciplinary field that integrates aspects of business management, along with information and communication technologies and engineering, and social sciences, in addition to providing the foundations for the growth of sustainable business. This paper presents a curriculum for the training of professionals in service engineering, which has been designed and taught at a Spanish public university. This curriculum, which the university created in collaboration with SSME experts and service sector companies, stands out for two reasons: the transdisciplinary approach employed, which is one of the features of this emerging and integrative knowledge discipline, and the fact that it is providing a response to the need for higher education curricula for sustainable business development. The paper describes the method followed to create the curriculum for the Bachelor’s Degree in Service Engineering, a comparative study with other related degrees, and the results of the deployment of the degree in terms of employability.

Abstract:
Marketing communication practitioners lack a guideline for implementing social mediastrategically. In the light of this, the authors of this article explored the strategic implementationof social media within a marketing communication context. A grounded theory process was firstlyfollowed in order to compile a list of social media messaging categories. This list was then pairedwith the disciplines of the marketing communication mix, based on their inherent similarities. Todemonstrate the practical relevance of the pairings thereafter, the authors followed a process ofaction research as a way of analysing an organisation’s existing social media messaging plan, referencing the strategic considerations that the pairing process inferred. By doing so, the authorsestablished that the pairing and action research process explored could be used as a strategicguideline for social media managers to improve the degree to which an organisation’s socialmedia messaging is conducive to the reaching of specific marketing communication objectives.

Abstract:
Purpose This research aims to analyze to what extent sustainability and its related core aspects are integrated in media and communication's curricula of higher education institutions in Europe. Design/methodology/approach A total of n = 1068 bachelor and master’s degree programs, as well as their related curricula/program specifications, from 28 European countries were analyzed by means of content analysis. Findings Results show that the level of curricular integration of sustainability aspects in the field of media and communication is low (14%) to very low (6%) on module level. In most cases, sustainability remains an abstract guiding principle that is not translated into a dedicated course offer. This can indicate the difficulty of operationalizing such a concept as sustainability, which is experienced by not only higher education institutions but also policy and society as a whole. In addition, the results leave space for a reflection on the social and educational responsibility of higher education institutions. Research limitations/implications The authors are aware that not all teaching (content) is depicted in curricula. Especially where teaching is research-based, The authors assume that sustainability (communication) is more present as the curricula' analysis can represent it. In addition, the fact of solely investigating English language curricula can be seen as a further limitation. Originality/value This research is one of the few attempts to verify the actual integration level of sustainability aspects in the curricula of a specific sustainability-relevant discipline, which is neither conducted as a case study nor as a single-country analysis.

Abstract:
The tasks that animals perform require a high degree of intelligence. Animals forage for food, migrate, navigate, court mates, rear offspring, defend against predators, construct nests, and so on. These tasks commonly require social interaction/cooperation and are accomplished by animal nervous systems, which are the result of billions of years of evolution and complex developmental/learning processes. The Artificial Life (AL) approach to synthesizing intelligent behavior is guided by this biological perspective. In this article we examine some of the numerous open problems in synthesizing intelligent animal behavior (especially cooperative behavior involving communication) that face the field of AL, a discipline still in its infancy.
