Abstract:
The purpose of this essay is to study the relationship between de rhetoric of prosaism as lyric code in Mario Benedetti´s poetry in relation with the metrics rules. Both elements appears in a sort of poems which shows that the alleged full freedom in the verse is not complete in many occasions. The relaxed metric pattern, although with several variations, appears in Benedetti´s poems as a fruit of his desire to get close his work to the reader.

Abstract:
This essay is a rereading of two novels by Mario Benedetti published first in Montevideo in the 1960’s and subsequently in Mexico around the 1970’s, receiving changing receptions over the years. Both have Montevideo as their setting, but the topographical perspectives and writing strategies are different. It traces the networks of writers, publishers and readers in Latin America developed during the 20th century and their obliteration by the military regimes in the 1970’s. Reviewing the fluctuating moods in Benedetti’s later reception, this essay compares opposite sets of aesthetic values developed during the second half of the last century, which are taken for granted even today, studying their initial hypotheses and showing how literary works are distorted by prejudiced sets of critical perspectives that pigeonhole works and authors in boxes established in advance.

Full text
Abstract:
The life script heptagon, developed by the author, is described to show how seven elements, all seven aspects of human personality – behaviour, feelings, thoughts, body holding patterns, habits, beliefs and attitudes, and early decisions – fit together geometrically so that they reinforce and support each other and make it hard for people to change their life scripts. These elements are then related to the ways in which different psychotherapies tend to work with them, and explanations are given of why the geometric nature of the model means that several aspects need to change because otherwise the remaining elements are reinforcing the unhelpful patterns. Editorial Note: This is an example of the saying ‘great minds think alike’ – this version of a heptagon was being developed over several years and the author was unaware that Benedetti, Benelli and Zanchetta (2020) had been developing a similar geometrical shape with different elements. Benedetti et al. were also unaware that the version described in this article was being developed. (Benedetti et al article is in this journal, Vol. 11, Issue 1 at https://doi.org/10.29044/v11i1p13)

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
_________________ ABSTRACT : The present work proposes to analyze the story Geographies, by the uruguayan writer Mario Benedetti, from the understanding that there is always a dimension of radical alterity that escapes us when we come across a literature on exile and torture. The characters of the tale are anchored in places of memory, a concept proposed by Pierre Nora (1993), because of the difficulty of accessing their memories. The trauma experienced by his status as exiles breaks with access to the symbolic, and all marks are restricted to the body. This writing aims to understand how the work of Benedetti will contribute to the guarantee of an enunciative ethos before the geographies of the bodies carved by state violence, hitherto without the right to speak, from the possibility of transmutation of pain lived in creative writing. Abstract:
There is a considerable body of information of a technical and review nature on negative staining elsewhere in the literature (Bremner et al., 1992; Harris and Home, 1991, 1994; Hayatand Miller, 1990; Holzenburg, 1988; Home, 1991; Nermut, 1991; Spiess et al., 1987; Valentine and Home, 1962); therefore, I shall attempt to avoid undue repetition and present the current laboratory approaches with which I am personally familiar and have achieved some technical success. After considering the range of procedures necessary for the production of carbon and carbon-plastic support films (sometimes termed substrates) emphasis will be placed upon the droplet negative staining technique (Harris and Agutter, 1970; Harris and Horne, 1991). I was introduced to this approach by Ennio Lucio Benedetti in his laboratory, at the start of my doctoral studies in 1966 (Anderson, 1966; Benedetti and Emmelot, 1965,1968) and with minor variations it is still useful for many biological applications.
