Abstract:
Background:Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is the most frequent extra-intestinal manifestation in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), since it may occur in up to 25% of patients. The early referral to a Rheumatology Unit may lead to proper treatment and better outcomes for patients with suspect SpA. Recently, we have developed and preliminarily validated a self-administered screening questionnaire, called DETection of Arthritis in Inflammatory boweL diseases (DETAIL)1.Objectives:To validate the DETAIL questionnaire in a multicenter cohort of IBD patients enrolled at ten Gastroenterology and Rheumatology Units in Italy. Methods:The DETAIL instrument is a 6-item questionnaire developed through a Delphi method1. From October 2018 to March 2019, consecutive adult patients with IBD, Crohn’s disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC), filled out independently the DETAIL in the outpatient waiting room. Thereafter, within 2 weeks a blinded rheumatologist assessed all the patients, irrespectively of the DETAIL results, and classified them to be affected or not by SpA according to ASAS criteria. The performance of the DETAIL was evaluated trough Bayesian analysis, defining for each item of the questionnaire the sensitivity, specificity, positive (LR+) and negative (LR-) likelihood ratios. Results:Overall, 418 IBD patients filled out the DETAIL questionnaire. Upon rheumatological evaluation, 102 (24.4%) patients received a diagnosis of SpA. Of the six questions, the best performances were found in item 6 (LR+ 3.77), reporting inflammatory back pain at night, and in item 3 (LR+ 3.31), exploring Achilles enthesitis. The presence of back pain lasting more than three months (LR+ 2.91), of back pain with inflammatory features (LR+ 2.55) and a history of dactylitis (LR+ 2.55), showed also a fairly good performance, whereas a history of peripheral synovitis was slightly worse (LR+ 2.16). The combination of at least three items answered affirmatively yielded a post-test probability of SpA of 75% or more. The presence of alternative diagnoses, such as osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, represented a minor confounder. Conclusion:The DETAIL questionnaire is the first screening tool for the early detection of SpA/IBD that has been validated by a multicenter study group.References:[1]Di Carlo M, Luchetti MM, Benfaremo D, Di Donato E, Mosca P, Maltoni S, Benedetti A, Gabrielli A, Grassi W, Salaffi F. Abstract:
Soon after the canonization of St. Carlo Borromeo, Cardinal Benedetto Giustiniani commissioned Lorenzo Garbieri to create three paintings for one of the chapels in the newly-erected Barnabite church of San Paolo Maggiore in the center of Bologna, with scenes taken from the new saint’s life. This was the first chapel to be decorated in the church. Here, as will be argued below, one may find the seeds of what eventually became common in representations of the saint: Barnabite propaganda meant to accentuate not only the saint himself and his important altruistic deeds, but also the order’s part in those deeds, as well as the connections between the saint and the Barnabites. An emphasis is given to the Barnabites’ participation in the very deeds that became associated with the saint and through which he became known during his lifetime as a living saint.

Abstract:
2012 - 2013
The fight between the biggest Italian entrepreneurs of the eighties, Silvio Berlusconi and Carlo De Benedetti, it's an exemplar vicissitude of the transition from the First to the Second Italian Republic. In fact into the War of Segrate, the financial and judiciary clash happened between the 1984 and the 1991 for the control of the publishing house Mondadori, we find a lot of phenomena typical of the First Republic, from the ambiguous connections between the institutions, the mass media and the political power to the difficult relationships between civil society and the leading class. At the same time, the War of Segrate has been one of the founding episodes of the Second Republic, characterized by the sunset of the mass party that emerged during the thirties and forties and from the birth of two anomalous parties: the enterprise-party of Berlusconi and the newspaper- party of «la Repubblica». Analyzing the crisis of the mass party, ethical power with thousands of members and a structure similar to the State’s one, we have recognized the necessity of spreading the spectrum of the Italian political history further the traditional history of the parties to deal with the study of the seventies, eighties and nineties of the twentieth century. We have therefore placed at the center of the narrative the War of Segrate, recounting the years of transition from the point of view of the newspaper founded and led by liberal-socialist Eugenio Scalfari. The journalists' sources, memoirs, television programs, supplemented by parliamentary debate, have let us to paint a picture of the relationships between the powers of different nature in the Italy of the "long" eighties. Abstract:
In the context of the growing political instability and deepening economic crisis in Uruguay during the 1960s and early 1970s, the thesis examines two propositions. The first is that politically informed intellectuals, though disaffected or marginalised, will integrate themselves into the political mainstream if circumstances demand and a suitable vehicle allows them to participate usefully in the political process. The second is that, in the Uruguayan case, an expanded notion of dialogue is essential in analysing how this was accomplished, partly because the idea of dialogue was a necessary part of how they worked together and communicated with their public, and partly because dialogue was seen as a crucial element in reforming the nation and as the basis of the relationship between the political party that was to be the agent of such reform and its potential constituency. The thesis begins by examining how the so-called 1945 and 1960s generations overcame intergenerational squabbles and worked together, with the help of an expanding publishing industry, to create a public for their meditations on Uruguay's problems. Then, after briefly outlining the importance of dialogue to the essay as a genre and its role in developing national identity in Latin America, the study examines essays on the state of Uruguay by four major writers in the 1960s: Roberto Ares Pons, Alberto Methol Ferr??, Carlos Maggi and Washington Lockhart. The thesis then traces the intelligentsia's role in the several attempts to heal the rifts within the Uruguayan left and in the formation of the centre left coalition, the Frente Amplio, in 1971, to show how the notion of dialogue was incorporated into its structure, mode of operation and political program. The final section, a case study of Mario Benedetti's political activities and propagandist essays of 1971-1973, examines the contradictions of working as a committed intellectual when the very conditions necessary for intellectual life are breaking down. The thesis concludes that the resurrection of the nation as a site for dialogue with and among all members of society, a project in which the intelligentsia had enthusiastically participated, foundered because drastic political polarisation permitted only one militarist and monologic solution.

Abstract:

FEDERICO, LUCA. "L'apprendistato letterario di Raffaele La Capria." Doctoral thesis, Università degli studi di Genova, 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/11567/1005664.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
This bibliographic material is patrimony of our Laboratory of the Behavior Physiology. This research unit originated in 1972 by will of Aldo Giachetti (until 1990) and with the beginning of the activity of Corrado Bucherelli. In the early 1980s, with Carlo Ambrogi Lorenzini (until 2004), the cataloging became more capillary and systematic, to continue to this day. All the researchers who worked in our laboratory contributed to this collection (Giovanna Tassoni 1986-2000, Benedetto Sacchetti 1996-2002 and Elisabetta Baldi from 1991). The study of learning, memory and behavior requires to follow a broad spectrum of neuroscience topics, ranging from neuronal biochemistry to neuropsychology. The Authors’ idea of publishing this collection comes from believing that a such website, though not exhaustive, might be a useful and targeted tool for the selection of bibliographic material in the field of behavioral neuroscience. The bibliographic references present at the publication (29500), accompanied by a brief comment highlighting the contents, are organized in relation to the topics (represented by the 99 themes) constituting the publication itself. The intersection of several references will point out the topics that represent them simultaneously. Concerning neurotransmitters and neuromodulators, references to agonists, antagonists or molecules interfering with the activity of these synapses have been inserted in the pages of the implicated neurotransmitter (e.g. acetylcholine). The pages including topics that could have been dealt with separately (e.g. active and passive avoidance) are introduced by a short explanatory note. The comment of each publication highlights the animal species used. Each comment is intended to indicate the content rather than the experimental results of paper. This choice comes from wanting to provide the reader with a more objective and less speculative comment.

Abstract:
Fabio Besta, Professor at Ca’ Foscari for almost fifty years, was the best-known and most eminent figure among the Italian accounting scholars. His pivotal contribution to the development of the subject encompassed the upgrading shift of accounting from technique to theory, his equity-based accounting system to be applied to the double-entry bookkeeping as well as the related ‘value-based’ accounting theory, the introduction of a new conception of business firm and combination of inductive (empirical) and historical research method. The school he founded deserves credits. Fabio Besta’s pupils would be the most relevant scholars of the following period, that is Vittorio Alfieri, Alberto Ceccherelli, Carlo Ghidiglia, Pietro D’Alvise, Francesco De Gobbis, Benedetto Lorusso, Pietro Rigobon, Vincenzo Vianello and Gino Zappa.
