Full textChapter 1 is the introduction, which gives an overview of the entire study. Chapter 2 is the literature review, defining the problem of stunted spiritual growth and considering coaching as a possible catalyst to move people out of stagnation. Chapter 3 covers the methods of the present study, describing how the treatment and effects study was set up in order to determine if the participants who were coached would experience more spiritual growth than the non-coached participants and how the focus group interviews were conducted to ascertain any noticeable difference in the spiritual growth between the two groups by looking for areas of growth that the coached group experienced that were not reflected in the DSGS and then seeing if the non-coached group grew in those same areas or different areas. Chapter 4 details the results of the study. The hypothesis that coached participants would score at higher levels of spiritual growth than non-coached participants was not supported by the results. The data showed that both groups scored at the same level of growth with no significant difference when t-tested. Chapter 5 addresses conclusions of the study and suggestions for related studies that could help address the problem of spiritual stagnation in the United States church.

The midway blind lose their sense of sight and the ability to earn a living, which they used to have, as an adult. This film followed several midway visual-disadvantaged people and tried to find out how they create a whole new life by different means and ways. The film also pointed out misunderstandings to visual-disadvantaged people in our society. “The Daybreak” recorded the story of Mr. Ke Ming Ji, who is the lecture of Japanese in the Institute for the Blind of Taiwan, and the other institute members. Mr. Ke started learning Japanese after being blind. However, with mental and strong willpower, Mr. Ke got his college and MBA degree from universities. What’s more, he is ready to take the challenge of teaching well-physical people Japanese what we called “Mission Impossible.” Furthermore, Mr. Ke is the first one who uses guide dog in Taiwan. He is just like a helper of the visual-disadvantaged people in Taiwan, and silently fights for their opportunities, rights, and advantages. Thus, Mr. Ke has encountered much more uncomprehensions and misunderstandings than others. Mr. Zhang Wen Zeng used to work on electronic business and run a company with friends before being visual-disadvantaged. Being visual-disadvantaged in the middle age, Mr. Zhang had been terribly depressed. However, he realized that practicing massage is also a way to be a manager. Therefore, he tried hard to live his life as an institute member for whole year. Mr. Zhong Ren Rong lost his eyesight at the prime of his life. His wife’s misunderstanding and the pressure of breeding children made him frustrated. Through religion, Mr. Zhong walked out the shadow little by little and he devoted to volunteer work. He did his best to pay the society back. Audience often sees what the film shows on surface. In fact, the serious topic needed to think deeply is often hidden. People who think more and take action would get more. As a documentary filmmaker, I think the most important function of documentary film is to arouse people to think in depth.
