Abstract:
It is impractical to plan the further work of the company without taking into account analytical data for previous production periods. Analytical accounting data allows managers to build a company's strategy or make changes to an existing development plan. The importance of accounting for the enterprise plays a large role at the planning stage of the further business strategy. A competent manager studies accounting data before making the next decision regarding the company's finances. The easiest way to streamline accounting documents and eliminate errors in it is to conduct an internal audit. Such an audit will protect the company from possible fines and problems with tax audits. It will help optimize accounting and document flow, and simplify relations with banks and counterparties. Economic analysis aims to turn economic and non-economic information into useful information for decision making. Logical processing, study, generalization of facts, their systematization, conclusions, proposals, search for reserves - all these tasks are solved within the framework of economic analysis, which is designed to ensure the validity of management decisions and increase its effectiveness. This monograph is a collective work of teachers and students of the Department of Economic Security, Accounting and Law of the Don State Technical University. It is devoted to the consideration of certain issues of accounting, audit and economic analysis at the enterprise in modern conditions.

Abstract:
The monograph, based on the identification of trends and problems of changes in the demand and supply of skills, as well as the study of modern mechanisms of their formation and actualization, substantiates the priority areas of human resources development in the Russian Federation that meet the strategic challenges of the period of digital transformation of the labor sphere. The authors identify and systematize current and future trends related to changes in the demand for professions and skills in the Russian and global labor markets. The directions of transformation of the demand for skills and professions in the conditions of digitalization of the economy, skills and professions of the future are determined. Quantitative and qualitative imbalances and trends in labor supply and demand in the Russian labor market are identified (based on statistical analysis of data from 2009-2019). The features and problems of supply and demand of professions/skills in the segments of the Russian labor market covered by Internet recruitment are identified (based on data from resume parsing and vacancies of Internet recruitment portals in 2018 and 2020). Methodological approaches to identifying widely-and poorly-demanded skills are proposed and tested during the competence analysis of labor supply and demand using Big Data technologies.the competence profile of the vacancies of the professional core and extra - skills. An innovative author's approach to assessing the potential of skills capitalization — a possible increase in the salary of an applicant due to the expansion of the set of skills that he has-is proposed and tested. The current policy directions of formation and improvement of skills of the population in the Russian Federation are identified and systematized. The strategic challenges of the period of digital transformation of the labor sphere facing the Russian Federation and the priority areas of human resources development that meet these challenges are identified. The conclusions and recommendations can be used in the work of the Ministry of Labor of Russia, Rostrud, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Ministry of Education of Russia, government authorities, employment services of the Russian regions, as well as organizations of the professional education system.

Abstract:
With the Lisbon 2000 Strategy, the focus of education systems has shifted from contents to competencies and due to the constant update of new technologies, education has to be considered as a lifelong process. In this context, online technologies play an increasingly crucial role. While research on learning software has mainly focused on the contents and digital medium in teaching, this study examines aspects of the digital artifacts that have been rarely investigated but are fundamental to increase the learner’s motivation, including system, interface, navigation, and graphics. Specifically, this work develops a new framework to analyse user experience and sustainability strategies that have been implemented in the case study JaLea. The analysis of primary data, collected with surveys and interviews, allows determining whether these strategies are effective for the creation of e-learning systems that are useful for the learner’s personal study, as well as investigate possible developments for teaching environments.

Abstract:
At the present time, the tourist destination offers a stimulating laboratory for the experimentation of theoretical models and good practices on the subjects of governance, knowledge management and sustainable competition. Growing interest in the study of this territorial context gains impetus from the new approaches and tools that local administrations are starting to introduce in the phases of implementation and control of local strategies. In this respect, the Tourist Destination Observatory (OTD) represents an important innovation, offering a nerve centre for the aggregation and networking of heterogeneous data scattered over the territory as well as a model for the implementation of permanent approaches to social dialogue as prerequisites for the creation of knowledge and for an aware, shared, competitive and responsible development of the destination. The OTD can act as an efficient agent of local change, facilitating the processes of governance, and as a tool of knowledge management for the valorisation of intellectual capital. It is consequently a crucial support for the strategic repositioning of mountain resorts, which can represent valid responses to the emerging new modes of interpreting the holiday.

Abstract:
The aim of this book is to present the most important issues related to sustainable development (SD) and corporate social responsibility (CSR). They are discussed from a macro and micro perspective, both in the form of theoretical foundations of these concepts and practical examples of companies operating in Central and Eastern European countries that have implemented these ideas in their daily operations and translated them into corporate and functional strategies. The book consists of four parts. The first one is theoretical in its assumptions and is devoted to explaining the key concepts of sustainable development (SD) and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The authors describe the determinants of sustainable development in the contemporary world, including the most important ones, such as globalization, climate change, poverty, unlimited consumption, as well as limited access to natural resources - all in relation to the goals of sustainable development. The chapter also discusses the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR), which is now recognized as the process by which business contributes to the implementation of sustainable development. How sustainable development (SD) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) are incorporated into the organization's strategies and influence the corporate strategy on the corporate and functional areas of the organization is presented in the last chapter of the first part of the e-book. The next part of the e-book helps readers understand the concepts of SD and CSR in the field of organizational strategy - in strategic management, and at the level of functional strategies—marketing, human resources, marketing research, accounting and operational management. The authors explain the reasons why companies need to consider the local and global perspective when setting SDGs, and the existence of potential conflicts within them. Taking into account the area of marketing, the authors point to the increase in environmental and social awareness of all stakeholders, which translates into changes in the criteria for decision-making by managers and risk assessment. The issue of sustainability is also the subject of market research. Companies producing products and services, institutions dealing with environmental or consumer protection, scientists and students conduct many research projects related to, inter alia, much more. How to use secondary data for analysis and how to prepare, conduct, analyze and interpret the results of primary research in that area are discussed in detail in the next chapter of this section. The concept of SD also refers to the basic functions of human resource management (HRM)—recruitment, motivation, evaluation and control. They should take into account SD not only for the efficiency of the organization and long-term economic benefits, but also for ethical reasons. Thanks to the SHRM, the awareness and behavior of the entire organization can strongly express sustainable goals in the planning and implementation of the overall corporate strategy. The growing importance of the idea of SD and the concept of CSR also resulted in the need for accounting and finance to develop solutions enabling the provision of information on the methods and results of implementing these concepts in entities operating on the market. This part of the book also examines manufacturing activities in the context of sustainability. As a result, many problems arise: waste of resources, mismanagement, excessive energy consumption, environmental pollution, use of human potential, etc. The chapter presents such concepts as: zero-waste, lean-manufacturing, six-sigma, circular production, design and recycling products in the life cycle as well as ecological and environmentally friendly production. The next two parts of the e-book contain examples of companies from Central and Eastern Europe that used SD goals in their strategies, questions and tasks for readers.

Harder, Louise, and Atul Malhotra. Pathophysiology and therapeutic strategy for sleep disturbance in the ICU. Oxford University Press, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/med/9780199600830.003.0225.

Full text
Abstract:
Robust data have shown that sleep disruption and inadequate sleep duration in the general population impact neurocognitive function and produce cardiometabolic sequelae. Despite widespread recognition of the importance of sleep as an essential homeostatic function, there are relatively few data regarding the importance of sleep in critically-ill patients. Obstructive sleep apnoea is a common respiratory condition that is prevalent in the ICU and can be particularly problematic pre-intubation, post-extubation, and in the peri-operative setting. Considerable discussion regarding the impact of sleep versus sedation has occurred, with some insights emerging from improvements in our understanding of basic neurobiology. Sleep disturbance may also have an impact in critically-ill mechanically-ventilated patients by contributing to the development of delirium, which is associated with poor outcomes. However, further data are required to determine the ideal strategy to optimize sleep in the ICU and whether such strategies will in turn improve hard outcomes of critically-ill patients.

Abstract:
Young people in challenging circumstances have been a key participant group in, and for, interventionist community music practice for several decades. In the United Kingdom, hundreds of projects receive funding every year to work with these children and young people, often with a clear agenda to focus on personal and social transformation, as well as musical development. While the benefits of this work have been well documented, it is only within the last decade that anything approaching a systematic, rigorous, and strategic approach has been attempted. Drawing on their professional backgrounds and data from their collective work on three, large-scale, national projects, the authors describe the essential components for a strategic approach to community music with children and young people in challenging circumstances—considering strategy first at the national policy level (what community music development should seek to achieve), and then at the level of community music pedagogy (what approaches would enable the desired musical, social, and personal goals to be achieved).

Abstract:
This chapter focuses on the contemporary approaches of research being used to understand the actions of EDCs and emerging high-throughput screening approaches to examine new and existing chemicals for endocrine-disrupting activities. Concepts arising from the 2007 NRC report “Toxicity Testing in the 21st Century: A Vision and a Strategy” are delineated and the ongoing development of predictive computational toxicology approaches are addressed. The screening strategies being developed under the Tox21 and Toxicity Forecaster (ToxCast) programs are described, with a review of advantages, challenges, and progress to date. There is a brief overview of the EPA’s Interactive Chemical Safety for Sustainability (iCSS) Dashboard as a portal for accessing the ToxCast data through ToxCastDB, and the EPA’s Aggregated Computational Toxicology data warehouse (ACToR), which contains all publicly available EPA chemical toxicity data. Additional challenges related to the inability of current screening approaches to address complex physiology involved in neuroendocrine disruption are addressed.

This concluding chapter adopts a formulation-based approach to reflect on the tough question of whether the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway has achieved a real impact in terms of the national strategy’s high-level outcomes. First, the explicit and implicit premises of the former Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder (DSPD) developments are considered, contrasting them with those underpinning the OPD pathway strategy. It is suggested that while DSPD was predicated on an illness model, the OPD strategy more accurately reflects a public health model, with the associated benefits and disadvantages. Second, the evidence for impact to date is summarized. Third, the high-level strategy outcomes are reworked in line with our theoretical model to achieve a more coherent articulation of the hypothesized mechanism of change within the pathway.

Abstract:
The Social Media Handbook provides guidance on long-term developments in the ever-changing social media sector and explains fundamental interrelationships in this field. It describes a strategy model for the development of one’s own solutions, summarises the theories, methods and models of leading authors and shows their practical application, while also highlighting current developments and dealing with the topic of data processing in social media. An examination of the platform economy with its economic functions facilitates the classification of business models in social media. The book also shows how platforms and their algorithms can influence our actions and shape our opinions. Abstract:
This chapter develops testable hypotheses of when Navigation by Judgment will be more or less successful. It develops theory as to why environmental predictability and project external verifiability play important mediating roles in the relationship between navigation strategy and success. The chapter argues that returns to Navigation by Judgment will rise as environmental unpredictability rises and as task verifiability falls. The chapter also introduces the quantitative and qualitative data that will be used in chapters 6 and 7 and discusses quantitative and qualitative data-collection methods at some length. The chapter also operationalizes for quantitative analysis the key variables, including Project Success, the propensity of international development organizations to Navigate by Judgment, and environmental unpredictability.

Abstract:
The phenomenal story of China’s ‘unprecedented disposition to engage the international legal order’ has been primarily told and examined by political scientists and economists. Since China adopted its ‘open door’ policy in 1978, which altered its development strategy from self-sufficiency to active participation in the world market and aimed at attracting foreign investment to fuel its economic development, the underlying policy for mobilizing inward foreign direct investment (IFDI) remains unchanged to date. With the 1997 launch of the ‘Going Global’ policy, an outward focus regarding foreign investment has been added, to circumvent trade barriers and improve the competitiveness of Chinese firms, typically its state-owned enterprises (SOEs). In order to accommodate inward and outward FDI, China’s participation in the international investment regime has underpinned its efforts to join multi-lateral investment-related legal instruments and conclude international investment agreements (IIAs). China began by selectively concluding bilateral investment treaties (BITs) with developed countries (major capital exporting states to China at that time), signing its first BIT with Sweden in 1982. Despite being a latecomer, over time China’s experience and practice with the international investment regime have allowed it to evolve towards liberalizing its IIAs regime and balancing the duties and benefits associated with IIAs. The book spans a broad spectrum of China’s contemporary international investment law and policy: domestic foreign investment law and reforms, tax policy, bilateral investment treaties, free trade agreements, G20 initiatives, the ‘One Belt One Road’ initiative, international dispute resolution, and inter-regime coordination.

Abstract:
This chapter brings quantitative and qualitative empirics to bear on the relationship between environmental predictability, navigation strategy, and international development organization (IDO) Project Success. The chapter first examines quantitative data on IDO Project Success, as environmental unpredictability varies along with the role that the Navigation by Judgment propensity plays in this relationship. It then turns to qualitative cases, which compare U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and U.K. Department for International Development (DFID) performance in Liberia’s unpredictable environment as both IDOs attempt to achieve similar goals in health and government capacity-building interventions. The discussion draws on the quantitative Project Performance Database and two pairs of case studies comparing USAID and DFID projects in relatively unpredictable Liberia. The chapter finds that Navigation by Judgment is associated with relatively better project performance in unpredictable contexts.
