Abstract:

Este artigo tem o objetivo de demonstrar a importância do recurso à história no pensamento político de Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). As fontes utilizadas na análise foram aquelas em que o autor mais se manifestou politicamente, a saber: o opúsculo filosófico Convívio/Banquete (1304-1308), as Epístolas V, VI e VII (1311-1312), o tratado escolástico Monarquia (1316-1321) e os três poemas da Divina Comédia: Inferno (1304-1308), Purgatório (1308-1312) e o Paraíso (1316-1321). Depois de abordar alguns elementos que caracterizam a historiografia medieval e apresentar como Dante mobiliza a história em sua apologia imperial, é concluído que a mesma estrutura a teoria política do florentino.

Abstract:

The article addresses the question of local identification, proposing that local identification in the contemporary world can be linked to locals' imagining 'their place' as inscribed within wider contexts outlined by symbols with supra-local references, whereby place-centric imaginary geographies emerge. Locals are active producers of symbols linking a place to such geographies. The author discusses the case of Dante Alighieri's alleged stay in the town of Tolmin in 1319, which failed as a possible symbol for inscribing the town into the imaginary geography of Western literature because in this part of Slovenia Dante was also associated with Italian fascism.

Abstract:

This paper deals with the issue of communication and dissemination of scientific knowledge outside the circle of specialists. In particular, in the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri, we will focus on the program for the popularization of knowledge outlined by Dante in the Convivio and De Vulgari Eloquentia, as well as several examples taken from his Divine Comedy concerning mathematical and natural sciences. Some solutions for communicating science proposed by Dante, such as the explanations of principles and scientific methods within a narrative framework (now often called the storytelling method), in addition to dialogues between characters, anticipate methods for science communication used by several authors after him. Examples are provided to show the depth of Dante’s knowledge concerning the basic concepts and methods of mathematics, physics and natural sciences (such as chemistry, meteorology, astronomy etc.). In addition, the examples demonstrate how effectively Dante used analogies and metaphors taken from sciences within his poetry.

Abstract:

Resumo: O artigo visa, por meio da análise do Tratado Monarquia, destacar determinadas características estruturadoras do discurso político de Dante Alighieri. A partir da compreensão do contexto histórico do norte e da região central da Península Itálica do final do século XIII e início do século XIV, enfatizamos que a linguagem política de Dante estava, concomitantemente, em harmonia com a defesa do ideal de Monarquia Universal Imperial e em desacordo com as pretensões políticas do papado que visava subordinar o poder temporal ao poder espiritual. Palavras-chave: Dante Alighieri; Linguagem Política; Império; Antipapismo. Resumen: Este artículo pretende a partir del análisis del Tratado Monarquía, resaltar ciertas características de estructuración del pensamiento político de Dante Alighieri. A partir de la comprensión del contexto histórico del norte y centro de la península italiana de finales del siglo XIII a principios del siglo XIV, acentuamos que lo lenguaje político de Dante se encontro al mismo tiempo en armonía con la defensa del ideal de la Monarquía Universal Imperial y en desacuerdo con las pretensiones políticas del papado encaminadas a subordinar el poder temporal al poder espiritual. Abstract The book Dante und das Gedächtnis [Dante and Memory], published in 2021 by Schwabe Verlag Basel, is a complex interdisciplinary study addressing the issue of memory in the works of the medieval Italian writer and philosopher Dante Alighieri. The study is focused on a “historical approach”, but the investigation of the Commedia and Vita Nova makes use of narratological concepts as well. Monaco sets out to identify and interpret the reflections on memory present in Dante’s work. The well-documented and systematized study comprises a lot of new information about the poet, politician, and exile Dante Alighieri.

Zusammenfassung Diese Niederschrift ist eine Abfolge von reichlich bebilderten Erklärungen der Astronomie in der Göttlichen Komödie von Dante Alighieri. Die Textauswahl wurde von Bodo Zöll und Karl-Philipp Ellerbrock in Vorbereitung der Eröffnung der Tagung der Deutschen Dante-Gesellschaft 2022 getroffen. Bei diesem Anlass haben die Professoren Dieter Blume und Edoardo Costadura der Universität Jena Passagen aus der Comedia und Erläuterungen dazu im Planetarium vorgetragen, während ich selbst als Astronomin die Ehre hatte, die geschilderten Passagen live in der Kuppel zu erklären. Diesen Visualisierungen von Dantes Astronomie stelle ich hier einige basis-astronomische Erklärungen voran.

ZusammenfassungIn der Geschichte der italienischen Politik hat Dante Alighieri seit jeher eine maßgebliche Rolle gespielt. Dem Dichter und ›Vater der italienischen Sprache‹ begegnet man auch bei Alcide De Gasperi. In den politischen Schriften und Reden des italienischen Staatsmannes wird auf Dante nicht nur in rhetorischem Gestus wiederholt zurückgegriffen (z. B. als Signal eines gemeinsamen kulturellen Hintergrunds); Dante steht vielmehr im Mittelpunkt von De Gasperis politischem Denken, wenn es um die Definition und Konstruktion von Identität, um die Zugehörigkeit zur christlichen Kultur sowie um die Veranschaulichung der Rolle eines Christen in der Welt geht. Am Beispiel von De Gasperis Schriften lässt sich die Resonanz der Figur und des Werks Dantes im politischen Diskurs Italiens im 20. Jahrhundert exemplarisch darstellen.

Abstract:

Thomas E. Eliot devoted several essays to Dante Alighieri, declaring that he considered the Italian poet the most universal of all poets of the continent. Dante’s recourse to visual images to enunciate very abstract philosophical and theological themes, finds its counterpart in Eliot’s use of the ‘objective correlative’ to evoke in the reader sensory experiences. Purpose of the present paper is to investigate about the influence exerted by the author of the “Divine Comedy” on the great innovator of the English literary landscape of the 20th century, utilizing to that purpose the scripts by T.S. Eliot himself.

Abstract:

W artykule dokonano interpretacji dorobku filozoficznego i poetyckiego Dantego Alighierego w kontekście kryzysów jego drogi życiowej. Dante doświadczył w swoim życiu zdarzeń, które były znaczące dla jego rozumienia samego siebie i świata. Takim bardzo osobistym doświadczeniem była nieodwzajemniona miłość do Beatrycze Portinari, a zwłaszcza jej śmierć w młodym wieku. Ponadto bardzo trudnym okresem w życiu Dantego była działalność polityczna i piastowanie urzędów publicznych w rodzinnej Florencji, co uwikłało go w konflikt stronnictw gibelinów i gwelfów i skazało na tułaczkę do końca życia. Wspomniane wydarzenia można określić mianem „kryzysów” Dantego, były one bowiem zwrotnymi momentami w jego życiu, wymagającymi podjęcia pewnych ważnych decyzji. Słowo „kryzys”, zgodnie ze swym greckiego źródłosłowem, oznacza podejmowanie decyzji w celu zmiany dotychczasowego sposobu myślenia oraz stylu życia. W artykule została postawiona teza, iż twórczość florenckiego poety można interpretować i rozumieć jako wyraz kryzysu, jakiego doświadczył, ale przede wszystkim sposobu wychodzenia z kryzysu, co uwidacznia się w podjęciu przemyślanych egzystencjalnych decyzji. Włoski poeta był także znakomitym filozofem, na co wskazują jego traktaty filozoficzne i dzieła poetyckie, albowiem potrafił połączyć zasady średniowiecznej filozofii scholastycznej z uprawianą poezją. Filozofia odegrała także znaczącą pozytywną rolę w jego życiu i przyczyniła się do wypracowania pełnej nadziei i optymizmu wizji świata i człowieka, która stanowi zasadnicze i ponadczasowe przesłanie jego twórczości.

Abstract:

Muito se fala sobre o Inferno dantesco, dando a entender, algumas vezes, que as outras duas partes, o Purgatório e o Paraíso, não são tão interessantes quanto o primeiro canto. Porém, este artigo busca desmiticar esta questão e apresentar todos os cantos da Divina Comédia como uma fonte quase que inesgotável de elementos de estudo e análise, que nos fazem entender não somente o momento literário e histórico de Dante Alighieri, mas também o nosso momento literário e o papel político-social que a literatura exerce no nosso meio sócio-cultural. Dessa forma, conceitos e ideias como língua nacional, visões, imagens, caráter inovador, e, muitas vezes profético da poesia serão abordados aqui, procurando abrir espaço para pesquisas que se situem, dentro da contemporaneidade, como reveladoras e inovadoras, mesmo partindo de uma obra escrita durante o Trecento italiano.

Resumo Escrito em resposta às críticas francesas e inglesas dos séculos XVII e XVIII, Ludovico Muratori publica o Della Perfetta Poesia Italiana em 1706. Em seu tratado, o preceptista busca defender as letras italianas, fazendo uma revisão dos principais poetas de sua língua. A partir dos seus escritos, o presente artigo tem, por objetivo central, levantar a discussão sobre a recepção de Dante Alighieri na Itália, no início do século XVIII. Para tanto, num primeiro momento, apresentaremos algumas características e tópicas da poesia do final do século XVII e início do XVIII; em seguida, levantaremos as considerações de Muratori sobre a noção de engenho, fundamental para as práticas letradas; por fim, discutiremos sua crítica à poesia de Dante Alighieri.

Este breve ensaio tem a finalidade de apresentar e discutir alguns curiosos aspectos externos de um corpus exemplar do gênero retórico-poético das viagens fantásticas ou viagens ao Além durante a Idade Média Central. Trata-se da Visio Tnugdali, a Visão de Túndalo, o relato de viagem ao Além mais célebre e disseminado antes da Comédia de Dante Alighieri, de princípios do século XIV e, em grande medida, inspirada pelo escrito com a aventura do Cavaleiro Túndalo. No entanto, o corpus permanece incógnito para a maioria das pessoas.

The Christian experience called “dying to self” and involvement in secular psychotherapy have been described in some religious circles as mutually exclusive if not antagonistic. The present article suggests that this is not necessarily the case. Careful analysis of one historically significant description of the process of sanctification. Dante Alighieri's Purgatorio, reveals several procedures frequently found in contemporary therapeutic practice.

Abstract:

En este artículo se pretenden reconstruir las premisas fundamentales del pensamiento político de Dante, que plantea una nueva concepción de la relación entre Iglesia e Imperio. En particular, se señalan tres ideas fundamentales: la ciencia como perfección última del alma humana; la operación propia del género humano en la actuación de toda la potencia del intelecto posible; y, por último, la cuestión del fin natural y sobrenatural del hombre. A continuación, se analiza la presencia de la interpretación del aristotelismo de la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de París y del averroísmo presente en el planteamiento dantesco, en particular haciendo referencia a las diferentes interpretaciones de Gilson y Nardi. Finalmente, se proponen como clave de interpretación global del pensamiento político dantesco la cuestión del traspaso de las llaves de Jesús a Pedro y la relación entre naturaleza y gracia en disonancia con la interpretación de Tomás de Aquino.

In his political writings, correspondence, and epic poetry, Dante Alighieri often assumed a prophetic posture. His self-understood vocation found primary expression in his direct, forceful criticism of the medieval Catholic Church, although the post hoc predictions and scriptural mimesis in which Dante engaged throughout his Commedia also funded his incisive ecclesial critique. This article discerns three trajectories of a Dantean prophetic vocation, which converge at key moments during the Commedia (particularly at Inferno XIX) to forge Dante, in all his rich complexity, into a prophet for his era.

Résumé – Cette note vise à mettre en évidence une « fonction Dante » dans l’œuvre du philosophe allemand Georg Simmel (1858-1918). L’intérêt précoce de Simmel pour les écrits et la pensée de Dante Alighieri est bien documenté. Dante a accompagné Simmel depuis le début de sa carrière (en 1884, il a publié une étude consacrée à « La psychologie de Dante ») jusqu’à ses écrits de maturité. Bien que cet aspect n’ait pas encore été approfondi par les chercheurs, il est possible de montrer la présence d’une inspiration singulière et durable qui, née de la méditation de l’œuvre de Dante, aurait conduit le penseur allemand à approfondir des éléments essentiels de sa propre vision philosophique.
