Für die Universitätsbibliothek und das Universitätsarchiv Chemnitz wird ein alter Industriebau modernisiert – die Alte Aktienspinnerei. Das Gebäude behält den Charakter eines Fabrikgebäudes aus dem 19. Jahrhundert und wird eine moderne Bibliothek beherbergen, die rund um die Uhr geöffnet haben wird. Es entsteht eine sehr besondere Bibliothek, die nicht nur ein Speicher für gedruckte und elektronische Medien ist, sondern vielmehr eine Atmosphäre bietet, in der sich wissenschaftlich interessierte Menschen treffen, gedruckte und digitale Informationen finden, miteinander diskutieren und neue Ideen entwickeln können.
An old industrial building is being modernised for the University Library and the University Archive of Chemnitz - the Alte Aktienspinnerei. The building retains the character of a 19th century factory building and will house a modern library that will be open around the clock. A very special library will be created, which will not only be a home for printed and electronic media, but will also provide an atmosphere in which people interested in science can meet, find printed and digital information, discuss with each other and develop new ideas.

Abstract:
Die Arbeit widmet sich der Gruppe der nicht-traditionellen Studierenden. Unter dem Begriff nicht-traditionelle Studierende werden dabei all jene Studierenden gefasst, die – ohne (Fach-)Abitur – auf der formalen Grundlage beruflichen Qualifikation eine Hochschulzugangsberechtigung erhalten haben. Einen Ausgangspunkt der Untersuchung bildet der Beschluss der Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK) von 2009 zum „Hochschulzugang für beruflich qualifizierte Bewerber ohne schulische Hochschulzugangsberechtigung“. Im Fokus der Untersuchung steht das Phänomen der Studienentscheidung. Gefragt wird: Wie und warum haben sich nicht-traditionell Studierende für ihr Studium entschieden? Empirische Grundlage bildet eine Interviewstudie mit insgesamt 82 nicht-traditionellen Studierenden, die bis zu viermal über den Verlauf ihres Studiums hinweg befragt wurden. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Studienentscheidungen vor allem unter den subjektiven Eindrücken und objektiven Bedingungen der Erwerbsarbeit getroffen werden und dass Studienmotive stark von berufsbezogenen Orientierungen gekennzeichnet sind. Die Studienentscheidungen werden durch höchst individuelle Ereignisse und Entwürfe nicht nur angestoßen, sondern auch vollzogen. Allein die Tatsache, dass ein Übergang aus dem Beruf in die Hochschule keine gesellschaftlich genormten Präskripte aufweist, macht den Studienwunsch zu einer höchst individualisierten und selbstverantworteten Entscheidung. In Anschluss an Becks (1986) Individualisierungsthese wird die Studienentscheidung im Rahmen von Wahlbiografien durch das Zusammenspiel von Freisetzung, Entzauberung und Re-Integration als individualisierte Entscheidung rekonstruiert. Die Ergebnisse zeigen zudem eine tiefe Verankerung einer Normalitätsvorstellung von Lebensläufen, die im Entscheidungsprozess als Orientierungsmuster wirksam sind. Schließlich wird die Studienentscheidung auch als ein Prozess des Abwägens rekonstruiert. Neben den als fallübergreifend zu rezipierenden Ergebnissen schlägt die Arbeit schließlich eine typologische Bestimmung der Studienentscheidungen im Kontext biografischer Orientierungen vor.
The present paper examines the group of non-traditional students in Germany. The term non-traditional students defines all those students who have received their university entrance certificate based on occupational skills without having a school-based university entrance qualification. One starting point of this survey is based on the determination of the German „Kultusministerkonferenz“ in 2009. Under these conditions, educational decisions gain importance in later phases of life, at least for the group envisaged here. The focus of this study is the phenomenon of the decision to study. The empirical basis of the work is an interview study with a total of 82 non-traditional students who were questioned up to four times over the course of their studies. The results refer to a complex bundle of different aspects that constitute the decision. First of all, it is revealed that the decision to study is made under subjective perceptions and objective conditions of gainful employment, as well as, reasons to study are strongly marked by job-related orientations. The decision to study was initiated and fulfilled through highly individual life events and drafts. Even a transition from a job to an institution of higher education is socially non-standard; this makes the desire to study a highly individual and self-responsible decision. Following Beck´s (1986) thesis of individualization, the decision to study is reconstructed by biographical choices through interaction of detraditionalization, disenchantment and reintegration as an individualised decision. Furthermore, the results indicate a deep establishment of beliefs in institutionalized life course which affect the decision process as a pattern of orientation. Finally, the decision to study is also reconstructed as a process of balance pros and cons. In addition to the cross-case results to be received, this paper proposes a construction of types of study decisions in the context of biographical orientation.

Wenn man fragt, unter welchen gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen Eheleute und Geliebte sich heute zurechtfinden müssen, kann man an drei auffälligen Entwicklungen nicht vorbeisehen: erstens an der zunehmenden Integration der Mittelschicht-Frauen in den Arbeitsmarkt, zweitens an der Randposition der Männer in der modernen Familie und drittens an der Zunahme der Scheidungszahlen. Es handelt sich um drei Bedingungen, mit denen Ehen und andere Liebesbeziehungen heute konfrontiert sind. Ich überlege in meinem Aufsatz, was sie insbesondere für die Rolle der Geliebten bedeuten.

Die Dissertation untersucht Uwe Kolbes Frühwerk und dessen zeitgenössische Rezeption in der DDR und der BRD sowie sein (semi)öffentliches Handeln und Wirken während der Vorwendezeit,d.h. eines spezifischen, von Transformationsprozessen geprägten Zeitraums. Dieser reicht von Kolbes erster Zeitschriftenpublikation 1976 bis zu seiner Übersiedlung in die BRD 1987. Kolbes literarische Produktion in der bezeichneten Zeitspanne und die damit zusammenhängenden sozialen Faktoren seiner Autorenbiographie – politische Privilegien, ökonomische Möglichkeiten und soziale Beziehungen als Voraussetzungen für sein Schreiben und seine Veröffentlichungen sowie sein (semi)öffentliches Handeln und Wirken – und seine Rezeption in von spezifischen Machtverhältnissen geprägten literarischen Aktionsräumen werden in der vorliegenden Arbeit als ein zusammengehöriges Ganzes untersucht und punktuell auf ihren Aussagewert für Situationen und Entwicklungen in den literarischen Feldern der Vorwendezeit befragt. Die Arbeit fokussiert mit Hineingeboren auf den Eintritt Uwe Kolbes in das literarische Feld unter der Mentorschaft Franz Fühmanns, seine davon ausgehende Rezeption als generationsspezifischer Repräsentant der jungen DDR-Autorengeneration und die damit verbundenen Wahrnehmungs- und Bewertungsmuster in den literarischen Feldern DDR und BRD. Des Weiteren untersucht sie Kolbes Rolle in der inoffiziellen Szene am Prenzlauer Berg. Sie analysiert seine zeichentheoretisch fundierte Sprach- und Machtkritik in Abschiede und seine politische Poetologie in Bornholm II und Das Kabarett. Darüber hinaus arbeitet sie Kolbes Rolle des widerspenstigen und politisch kritischen Vorzeigeautors heraus, infolge derer er in der BRD als außenpolitisches Aushängeschild einer vermeintlich toleranten DDR-Kulturpolitik fungierte. Sie erforscht schließlich seine Rezeption in der BRD u.a. durch seine Position in verschiedenen Anthologien junger DDR-Literatur und analysiert seine Integration in den bundesdeutschen Kanon.
This dissertation examines Uwe Kolbe’s early work and its reception in East and West Germany as well as his (semi-)public activities and their impact in the pre-Wende era, i.e. over a distinct time frame characterised by transformation processes. It spans the period from Kolbe’s first publication in a literary journal in 1976 to his relocation to West Germany in 1987. The present study views Kolbe’s literary production, the associated social factors of his literary career – political privileges, economic opportunities and social relationships as prerequisites for his writing and publications as well as his (semi-) public activities and their impact – and his reception as inextricably linked, and, by way of selected examples, shows their significance for situations and developments in the literary fields of the pre-Wende era. In the case of the poetry volume Hineingeboren, the study focuses on Kolbe’s entry into the literary field with the support of his mentor Franz Fühmann, his subsequent reception as a representative of the young generation of GDR authors, and the patterns of perception and evaluation associated with that in the literary fields of the GDR and West Germany. Kolbe’s role in the unofficial literary scene in Prenzlauer Berg is also investigated. The study analyses his semiotic critique of language and power in Abschiede and his political poetics as revealed in Bornholm II and Das Kabarett. In addition, it explores Kolbe’s role as a recalcitrant and politically critical author who became the poster boy of a supposedly tolerant East German cultural policy in West Germany. Finally, it examines Kolbe’s reception in West Germany, among other things through publications in various anthologies of contemporary GDR literature, and analyses how his work has been integrated into the German literary canon since Reunification.

Abstract:
The history of grammar dates back to ancient Greece, as the language as well as other parts of the perceptible world became subject to scientific study. Analogue to the rebirth of other parts of ancient knowledge during the renaissance, grammar also re-appeared in the German and Swedish language areas. This master's thesis attempts to describe how the respective grammars progressed from the 17th century until present time, through an examination of representative written work from both language areas and historical periods. The results show both similarities, but also diversity. Predominant for the early part of the examination include language patriotism, the idea of language as existing independent from mankind and a normative tendency in the grammars. The German grammars of the 17th and 18th centuries also pursue national unity by the means of fixed language principles to a greater extent than in the more solid contemporary Swedish national state. A language-philosophical distinction appears in the 19th century, when German scholars argue that language defines the thought, where as the Swedish standpoint was the opposite. This divide remains in present-day grammars, which in this thesis are represented by the German Duden 4 – Grammatik and the Svenska Akademiens grammatik. Both modern grammars share an outspoken descriptive approach, but traces of a common, rule-based language to reduce regional and social differences are still present in the German grammar. The grammars put different weight on the various parts of the subject. The Duden includes phonology and assigns twice as much space for words than for syntax. The Swedish delimits itself to words and syntax, where the latter – including one entire volume on phrases, that the Duden completely omits – dominates the four books.

Environmental decision support systems (EDSS) are used to assist natural resource managers make decisions regarding complex environmental issues, however, EDSS are often not used after the development stage. Sustainability science literature has explored this issue from the researcher perspective, and this thesis presents the perspective of end users of EDSS from Canada and Australia. A main conclusion of the study is that institutional commitment to commit EDSS into policy and practice would support ongoing EDSS use. Findings from this thesis will inform the development of future EDSS that meets the needs of end users and will be adopted into use.

Abstract:
This essay will investigate male and female usage of four swear words: hell, heck, damn and darn. A minor part of the essay focuses on comparing real life speech (by using the Longman Corpus of Spoken American English) with scripted language in soap operas (the SOAP corpus). The main part of the essay focuses on a detailed investigation of the four swear words in the SOAP corpus to see how they are used considering gender. Preliminary hypotheses were both correct and incorrect. Even though it was true that women use the milder forms of swearing in the company of men, men however use the harsher forms in the company of women. Moreover, heck seems to be a very neutral swear word used by men and women equally. Hell was most frequently used by men, and darn was very frequent among women. Overall, there was very little female to female swearing, and the category with the highest instances of usage of three of the four swear words was in fact male to female.

Obsahem diplomové práce je analýza tří hypotéz týkajících se nepřímých daní v zemích OECD a následné ověření, zda testované hypotézy platí či ne. Práce je členěna do tří kapitol. První kapitola tvoří teoretický základ pro další analýzu. Zabývá se nepřímými daněmi a státy OECD. Druhá kapitola je nosnou částí celé práce. Jsou zde analyzována jednotlivá kritéria z pohledu všech tří hypotéz. Závěrečná třetí kapitola syntetizuje dílčí výsledky z druhé kapitoly a na základě této syntézy potvrzuje resp. vyvrací testované hypotézy. Jednotlivé hypotézy zkoumají obecné trendy v nepřímých daních, porovnání významu nepřímých daní v chudých a bohatých státech a míru homogenity jednotlivých geografických regionů v oblasti nepřímých daních.

This diploma thesis deals with legislative changes in tax revenues of municipalities since 2001. The changes in the shared taxes and property taxes are considered. The aim is to evaluate the legislative changes related to tax revenues of municipalities and to evaluate their impact on tax revenues of the three selected small municipalities. The theoretical part of the thesis covers the legislative changes that have occurred in the law on the tax assignment and law on the tax of real estate over the last ten years, and amendment to law on the tax assignment with the expected effect from 1 January 2013. The practical part consists of an analysis of tax revenue of three selected small municipalities and their development in response to legislative changes. The last part of the thesis summarizes the most important findings. In this thesis, I came to the conclusion that in every of the three analyzed municipalities the revenues from shared taxes and from property taxes increased over the period of interest.

This thesis deals with funding methods of municipalities in France. The first part of this thesis is theoretical, it introduces fundamental terms and theories, regarding funding of municipalities, problems of budget setting and components, which can form revenue side of the budget. At the beginning of the second part I introduce the structure of municipalities in France. The main objective of this thesis is detailed characterization of revenues, that these municipalities collect, and their subsequent analysis. For this reason I answer these questions: What revenue sources are collected by municipalities, what are the most important revenue sources, how individual revenue sources evolve over time, whether there is in this country the tendency to strengthen the financial autonomy of municipal authorities or rather the state tends to finance municipal authorities through subsidies. At the end of this thesis, I have compared the system of municipal financing in France and in the Czech Republic and made some recommendations, how could the Czech system be reformed.

The thesis dealing with the environmental policy on general level, e.g. define the basic terminology as policy of environment, it´s tools, and describe principals of environmental policy. The thesis evaluates ecological taxis and their implementation into Czech legislature, describing realization of tax reforms in Czech Republic and comparing the system with other countries of European Community. The text informs about different math models used in impact evaluation of economic tolls in the sphere of environmental policy. The impact of the selected tools on the state budget of the Czech Republic is analysed in the text. Ecological taxes (solid fuel tax, natural gas tax, other types of gas tax, and electricity tax) create chosen economic tool that is incorporated into Czech legislature. The analytical part of the thesis concerns on analyse and evaluation of the state budget income originated from ecological taxes in the period between 2008 and 2015. Further on the impact on ecological taxis on GDP in different countries of European Community is searched. How ecological taxes contribute to environmental protection is specified in the thesis as well.

Cette thèse se trouve au croisement de deux thématiques assez larges de l’épistémologie sociale : voyage et spatialité. Mais le champ de recherche se concentre sur la quête de la subjectivité occidentale, et sur la perception de l’espace autre au travers notamment du voyage dans le Tiers-Monde. En premier lieu, nous essayons de comprendre les raisons et les facteurs qui poussent les Occidentaux à entreprendre le voyage à la rencontre de la misère et de l’horreur du Tiers Monde. Ensuite, notre travail cherche à analyser comment la perception et l’appropriation de cette spatialité, en particulier celle de Calcutta, jadis la « seconde ville de l'Empire » britannique, se caractérisent au niveau de l’imaginaire occidental. La thèse est divisée en deux parties à la fois indépendantes et interreliées. Constituée de deux chapitres, la première tente de fournir un cadre explicatif conceptuel aux questions touchant à la problématique du voyage et de la spatialité. Le premier chapitre examine le phénomène des nouveaux tourismes qui se déploient à partir de la deuxième moitié du XXe siècle dans les pays du Tiers Monde atteints par la pauvreté extrême, l’inanition, la guerre, etc. Le pouvoir d'attraction de la spatialité postcoloniale qui se reflète dans ce phénomène touristique nous permet d'explorer, dans le chapitre suivant, la portée de la construction sociale et symbolique de l’espace au niveau de l’imaginaire social. La deuxième partie consacre deux chapitres à l’analyse des perceptions occidentales communes de Calcutta en soulignant leur oscillation entre fascination et répulsion. Le chapitre trois s’intéresse à l’émergence et à la durabilité des mythes de la ville qui illustrent cette ambivalence. Le chapitre quatre est voué à une étude comparative de deux romans populaires – Le chant de Kali (2005) de Dan Simmons et La Cité de la joie (1985) de Dominique Lapierre – qui intègrent et reflètent l’imaginaire occidental sur Calcutta. La problématique de ce chapitre ne se limite pas à la vérification du mouvement de fascination-répulsion constitutif du regard occidental sur la métropole indienne, mais elle intègre également la question du rôle de l’espace de l’Autre dans la quête occidentale de sens et de soi.
This work is at the cross-roads of two broad themes of social epistemology: travel and spatiality. The main focus of this research is the occidental subjectivity’s search for self and its perception of spatiality through Third World travel. We first analyze the reasons that motivate Westerners to encounter the misery and horror of the Third World in their travels. We next study the perception and appropriation of this spatiality in the Western imagination, particularly with reference to the Indian metropolis, Calcutta, hitherto considered the second city of the British Empire. This thesis is divided into two independent but related parts. The first part furnishes a conceptual background in order to define and explain issues pertaining to voyage and spatiality. Here, the first chapter elucidates the notion of new tourism, a late-20th century practice of travel to Third World countries ravaged by extreme poverty, war and other disasters. The attraction towards postcolonial spatiality illustrated in this phenomenon, helps us explore, in a subsequent chapter, the symbolic and social construction of space in the collective imagination. In the second part of the thesis, we discuss the ambivalence in the Westerners’ perception of Calcutta. We discuss the emergence and persistence of myths in reference to the city that illustrate the fascination-repulsion that characterize this perception. For this, we present a comparative analysis of two popular novels that reflect collective Occidental imagination : Song of Kali (1985) by Dan Simmons and La Cité de la joie (1985) by Dominique Lapierre. Through an analysis of the abovementioned texts, we reinforce, once more, the importance of the space of the Other in the occidental quest for self definition.
