Abstract:
Abstract. The Monumental Fountain of Dalmine was built to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Benito Mussolini’s historical address held on March 20, 1919, to which the square was dedicated. In the basin stood a large marble block on which some sentences of the Duce’s speech were carved. The work was partially destroyed at the end of the World War II and the block was removed. Today, what remains of the Dalmine Fountain constitutes the privileged meeting place of the city. However, it has great sealing problems as well as high management and maintenance costs, which prevent its normal functioning. Consequently, it is kept empty for many months of the year and filled with water only in the summer. This essay intends to propose a study based on the analysis of historical sources and 3D survey and modelling techniques aimed to understand the historical and urban value of the monument, to support its conservation and to enhance its role as a central meeting point for the town.

Abstract:

Abstract:
<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> The paper aims to emphasise the positive contribution that the 3D laser scanning and digital photogrammetry survey, integrated with diagnostic analysis techniques, can make in the field of construction engineering. The case study of the former kindergarten San Filippo Neri in Dalmine intends to contribute to the development of methodologies and operational tools related to the knowledge and conservation of modern and contemporary heritage. After archival research aimed at retracing the building's technical-constructive evolution, the study was extended out through the metric and morphological survey of both its external walls and internal spaces, paying special attention to the analysis of the deformations of the large horizontal surfaces, such as floors and ceilings. Diagnostic investigations – thermographic and microclimatic – have completed the survey campaign, so allowed to read both the envelope and the substance of the building, and to identify the critical issues. This work adopts and shows the correct glide slope to succeed in an adaptive reuse project in which the design stage can result solely from the in-depth study of the building.</p>

Abstract:
To evaluate the effects of visual feedback training on motor recovery in postoperative patients with a total knee replacement (TKR). The performance of 40 first-ever TKR patients (27 females; mean age: 70.5 (67.2–74.0) years) was evaluated in a single center, single-blind, randomized controlled study. The patients were randomly and equally distributed into two demographically/clinically matched groups undergoing experimental or traditional treatments. All patients have been treated in a 1 h session, 2/day for 5 days a week, for six consecutive weeks. The first group (“control”) underwent conventional physical therapy, whereas the experimental group received advanced knee training with visual feedback using the TecnoBody® device (Walker View 3.0 SCX, Dalmine (BG), Italy). The clinical scales and kinematic parameters coming from the gait analysis were evaluated to demonstrate the dynamic balance function in a standing position before and after each treatment. After the treatment, both experimental and control groups improved significantly and similarly, as measured by the clinical scales (Numeric Rating Scale for Pain and Barthel index). A significant boosting of the motor performance was detected in the experimental group with respect to the control group in the terms of symmetry index 84 (80.8–85.4) vs. 87.15 (84–92.8) p = 0.001 *; single stance support 34.9 (34.1–36.5) vs. 37.8 (36.6–38.9); p < 0.001; and obliquity parameters 58.65 (51.3–70.3) vs. 73 (62.3–82.1); p < 0.001. Applying visual feedback training in addition to traditional rehabilitation strategies improves the knee function and motor control in postoperative TKR patients.

Abstract Im Rahmen eines gemeinsamen Lehrprojektes der B. A.-Studiengänge Museologie sowie Konservierung und Restaurierung/Grabungstechnik der Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin (HTW) mit der Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Greifswald wurde ein etwa 100 Jahre altes Konvolut historischer Planfilmnegative aus der Sammlung des Theologen Gustaf Dalman (1855–1941) digitalisiert.

Abstract:
RFLP analysis of mtDNA in natural populations is a valuable tool for phylogeographic and population genetic studies. The amplification of long DNA fragments using universal primers may contribute to the development of novel homologous probes in species for which no previous genomic information is available. Here we report how we obtained the complete mtDNA genome of Sinipta dalmani (Orthoptera) in 2 fragments (7 and 9 kb) using primers of conserved regions. The specificity of the PCR reactions was ultimately confirmed by several lines of evidence. These fragments were used as a probe for a mtDNA RFLP study in S. dalmani that analyzed the pattern of haplotype distribution and nucleotide diversity within and among chromosomally differentiated natural populations. Our results suggest that the restriction in gene flow detected at the molecular level may explain the chromosome differentiation detected previously and the maintenance of chromosome polymorphism in some areas of S. dalmani geographic distribution.Key words: long-PCR, mitochondrial DNA, universal primers, RFLP, grasshopper.

This case study is about Dalmia Cement which is one of the oldest cement companies in India, established in the year 1939. In early 2000s, the company started its journey of aggressive growth under the leadership of young promoter-cum-managing director. The company has been one of the best performing companies in Indias in the last decade and being valued as one of the most valuable scrips of the stock market. The company has grown organically as well as inorganically by meticulously executing strategies of mergers and acquisitions and forging strategic alliances to spur the growth. While the company has a clear growth strategy for the future, it needs to find ways of going forward to ensure it traverses on the same growth path as it has done before.

Abstract:
The type material of Australian Anoplognathini (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Rutelinae) housed in Swedish natural history collections is reviewed, concerning three genera: Anoplognathus Leach, 1815, Amblyterus MacLeay, 1819, and Repsimus MacLeay, 1819. The species were described by G.J. Billberg, J.W. Dalman, L. Gyllenhal, C.J. Schönherr, O. Swartz, and C.P. Thunberg. The contemporary type material of W.S. MacLeay in the Macleay Museum, Sydney, is also examined as it has been overlooked by previous researchers. In total, type specimens for 12 species described between 1817 and 1822 were found in the Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet in Stockholm the Evolutionsmuseet in Uppsala and the Macleay Museum. Five of these species are valid: Anoplognathus brunnipennis, (Gyllenhal, 1817); A. olivieri (Schönherr & Dalman, 1817); A. porosus (Dalman, 1817); Amblyterus cicatricosus (Gyllenhal, 1817); and Repsimus manicatus (Swartz, 1817). The other seven species are junior synonyms, as follows (senior synonym first): A. brunnipennis = Rutela chloropyga Thunberg, 1822 (new synonym); A. olivieri = Rutela lacunosa Thunberg, 1822 (new synonym); A. viridiaeneus (Donovan, 1805) = A. latreillei (Schönherr & Gyllenhal, 1817); A. viriditarsus Leach, 1815 = Rutela analis Dalman, 1817; and R. manicatus = Anoplognathus brownii W.J. MacLeay, 1819 = A. dytiscoides W. J. MacLeay, 1819 = Rutela ruficollis Thunberg, 1822 (new synonym). Authorship of A. latreillei and A. olivieri is corrected, as noted above. Anoplognathus brunnipennis has been misidentified for the last 60 years at least, leading to the synonymy noted above. Anoplognathus flavipennis Boisduval, 1835 (revised status), is reinstated as the oldest available name for the misidentified A. brunnipennis and the types of A. flavipennis in the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris, are illustrated. Lectotypes are designated for: Anoplognathus brownii, A. flavipennis, A. dytiscoides, Melolontha cicatricosa, Rutela analis, R. brunnipennis, R. lacunosa, R. latreillei, R. manicata, R. olivieri, R. porosa, R. ruficollis, and R. chloropyga. Photographs of all type specimens examined are presented for the first time.

Abstract:
It has been repeatedly stated that the lower Llanvirn Asaphus raniceps described by Dalman in 1827 and by Angelin in 1854 may represent two different species. This has forced us to live with the concepts of both A. raniceps Dalman and A. ‘raniceps’ sensu Angelin, and with a zone of A. ‘raniceps’ where A. raniceps is supposedly not present. However, new considerations based on large old and new collections have led to the firm conclusion that Angelin was correct in his identification of Dalman’s species. What has been regarded recently as the true Asaphus raniceps, at least by Tjernvik & Johansson in 1980 and by Nielsen in 1995, is instead identical with another generally misidentified species, Asaphus fallax Angelin 1854.

Abstract:
The current case study illustrates the innovative potential of combined medical and psychological treatment of postchemotherapy nausea and vomiting for cancer patients. A 58-yr.-old male patient diagnosed with leukemia and on a weekly cytosine arabinoside (Ara-C) treatment protocol, experienced violent vomiting episodes approximately 3 hr. after each injection. Emesis was so severe that the patient considered terminating treatment. Control was attempted with antiemetics (Compazine, Reglan), an antianxiety agent (Valium), an hypnotic (Dalmane), canabinol, hypnosis, and relaxation training without success. A re-examination of these strategies employing experimental rigor and data-responsive experimental designs indicated how success can be achieved without the necessity of new interventions. The patient experienced complete emetic relief and at 3-yr. follow-up remained symptom-free.

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
A silicified brachiopod assemblage living between the first and second episodes of latest Ordovician mass extinction is first described from micritic bioclastic limestone of Kuanyinchiao Bed, northwestern Guizhou, southwest China. It contains six species, Dalmanella testudinaria (Dalman, 1828), Plectothyrella crassicosta (Dalman, 1828), Hindella crassa incipiens (Williams, 1951), Eostropheodonta sp., the characteristic constituents of the Hirnantia fauna, and two new species, Fardenia modica and Dorytreta longicrura. It lacks Hirnantia, Kinnella, Cliftonia, and Paromalomena, the other characteristic elements of the Hirnantia fauna. A new, low diversity community (inner BA3) dominated by brachiopods is proposed as the Dalmanella testudinaria-Dorytreta longicrura Community along with the trilobite Dalmanitina nanchengensis Lu, rugose corals, and gastropods. Composition of this community of the Hirnantia fauna was controlled primarily by temperature, water depth, and substrate. Comparison with other communities of the Hirnantia fauna in south China supports this conclusion. Fluctuations in generic composition of the Hirnantia fauna and the related factors are also discussed.

Abstract:
The last immature stage and the mature larva of Anteon flavicorne (Dalman) and Lonchodryinus ruficornis (Dalman) (Dryinidae, Anteoninae) are described. Figures and descriptions of some characters of the exuvia of the mature larva of Deinodryinus hispanicus (Olmi) are added. The immature larvae of the studied species are characterized by a layer (“mask”) covering the frontal region, the absence of cephalic vesicles, the body with its posterior region strongly bent ventrally, and the position on the host always on the thorax or between metathorax and abdomen. Main features of the mature larvae are the very long setae on the body and head, the labrum with few long sensory bristles and two sensory pits and with an apical row of sensory bristles, the epipharynx with two sensilla, the subtriangular labium with narrow subquadrate spinneret, and the bulb-shaped spiracles of approximately equal size in thorax and abdomen. The cocoon is built in the ground and covered by soil particles.
