Abstract:
Abstract. The Monumental Fountain of Dalmine was built to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Benito Mussolini’s historical address held on March 20, 1919, to which the square was dedicated. In the basin stood a large marble block on which some sentences of the Duce’s speech were carved. The work was partially destroyed at the end of the World War II and the block was removed. Today, what remains of the Dalmine Fountain constitutes the privileged meeting place of the city. However, it has great sealing problems as well as high management and maintenance costs, which prevent its normal functioning. Consequently, it is kept empty for many months of the year and filled with water only in the summer. This essay intends to propose a study based on the analysis of historical sources and 3D survey and modelling techniques aimed to understand the historical and urban value of the monument, to support its conservation and to enhance its role as a central meeting point for the town.

Abstract:

Abstract:
<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> The paper aims to emphasise the positive contribution that the 3D laser scanning and digital photogrammetry survey, integrated with diagnostic analysis techniques, can make in the field of construction engineering. The case study of the former kindergarten San Filippo Neri in Dalmine intends to contribute to the development of methodologies and operational tools related to the knowledge and conservation of modern and contemporary heritage. After archival research aimed at retracing the building's technical-constructive evolution, the study was extended out through the metric and morphological survey of both its external walls and internal spaces, paying special attention to the analysis of the deformations of the large horizontal surfaces, such as floors and ceilings. Diagnostic investigations – thermographic and microclimatic – have completed the survey campaign, so allowed to read both the envelope and the substance of the building, and to identify the critical issues. This work adopts and shows the correct glide slope to succeed in an adaptive reuse project in which the design stage can result solely from the in-depth study of the building.</p>

Abstract:
To evaluate the effects of visual feedback training on motor recovery in postoperative patients with a total knee replacement (TKR). The performance of 40 first-ever TKR patients (27 females; mean age: 70.5 (67.2–74.0) years) was evaluated in a single center, single-blind, randomized controlled study. The patients were randomly and equally distributed into two demographically/clinically matched groups undergoing experimental or traditional treatments. All patients have been treated in a 1 h session, 2/day for 5 days a week, for six consecutive weeks. The first group (“control”) underwent conventional physical therapy, whereas the experimental group received advanced knee training with visual feedback using the TecnoBody® device (Walker View 3.0 SCX, Dalmine (BG), Italy). The clinical scales and kinematic parameters coming from the gait analysis were evaluated to demonstrate the dynamic balance function in a standing position before and after each treatment. After the treatment, both experimental and control groups improved significantly and similarly, as measured by the clinical scales (Numeric Rating Scale for Pain and Barthel index). A significant boosting of the motor performance was detected in the experimental group with respect to the control group in the terms of symmetry index 84 (80.8–85.4) vs. 87.15 (84–92.8) p = 0.001 *; single stance support 34.9 (34.1–36.5) vs. 37.8 (36.6–38.9); p < 0.001; and obliquity parameters 58.65 (51.3–70.3) vs. 73 (62.3–82.1); p < 0.001. Applying visual feedback training in addition to traditional rehabilitation strategies improves the knee function and motor control in postoperative TKR patients.

Abstract:
This thesis analyses the Julian-Dalmatian exodus from a sexual and geopolitical perspective. The first part examines the border between Italy and Yugoslavia after the end of World War II, and the processes of both national and multinational identity constructions during the period of the Cold War. This work then highlights the diasporas in the contemporary European context, as realities create new political-intimate spaces of learning non-Western values of sharing that inspire different forms of communities not aligned with European norms. In the second part, we analyse three practices of daily life that emerged inside the diaspora communities which are based on the recovery of used materials and had been developed in a feminist perspective: collage, sewing and sending. These three practices are located on the border between craft activity and artistic and cultural creations, as they enable the development of both income sources as well as the communication from a postexotic perspective with the contemporary art world being a partial archive of Western cultural history. This analysis concludes that we can find the necessary tools in the diaspora spaces that are needed for both the postcolonial processes in the diaspora groups’ societies or islands of origin and for the processes for equality inside the multicultural, but predominantly white, Western societies in which these groups are located

Saume, Natali.

Abstract:

The present study was performed to obtain information on the biology of Oncideres saga (Dalman, 1823) and to evaluate the effects of its girdling of branches and trunks of Acacia mangium Willd. trees in terms of increase in diameter and height . The study on the biology of this insect pest was performed in a plantation of A. mangium located in Coimbra- MG, between September/2006-November/2007. Damage was assessed by collecting fallen branches and adults of this insect. The laboratory activities were performed in the Casa dos Cupins/UFV, in Viçosa-MG. The eggs of O. saga were of white coloration, of elongated shape, with length being approximately three times greater than the width average length of 3,54±0,03 mm and width 1,05±0,02 mm. The incubation period of eggs varied from 8 - 14 days and the viability was 52,89%. First instar larvae are whitish and semi- transparent, they have no legs, they have a prognathous head that is retracted in the prothorax, the antennae are short, and the mandibles are robust and short. The larvae average length was 2,92±0,04 mm, while the average widths of the body and of the head capsule were 1,02±0.01 mm and 0,62±0,01 mm, respectively. Sex of adults can be distinguished by total length of the antenna, with emphasis on the eleventh antennal segments. The occurrence period of O. saga was from January-April 2007 and the period of adult activity was 4 months. Adults of O. saga fed on the bark, on the epidermis of the leaf petiole (leafstalk) and also on the phyllode. Oviposition by O. saga in the branches of A. mangium was always close to the incision, with the egg being deposited between the bark and the xylem. There was only one egg per incision, rarely two and the average number of incisions for a girded branch was 80,33±16,81; the lower third had the largest amount of incisions (64,73%). It was found that 77,78% (n=9) of the girdle were made in the shaft. The average diameter of the girded branches was 6,68±0,70 cm and the average length of these branches was 3,45±0,16 m. With only one girdle, O. saga caused an average leaf loss of 135.069,4±24,354.4 cm2, which corresponds to a loss of 14,79% of foliar area of the tree. This beetle can therefore be considered an important defoliator of forests. The presence of one Scolytidae species was verified in branches of A. mangium girdled by O. saga, and four cerambycid species also emerged from these branches, which were identified as Engyum quadrinotatum Thomsom, 1864; Eburodacrys sexmaculata (Olivier, 1790); Achryson surinamum (Linnaeus, 1767) and Neoclytus pusillus (Laporte & Gory, 1838). Another experiment was carried out in May 2007 in order to evaluate the effect of sawing the main shoot of A. mangium. Blocks were randomized, and portions were subdivided according to ages of trees (from 40 - 46 months). Fifty-four trees were examined monthly in three blocks, in which three experimental treatments were applied, with six replicates for each one. The applied treatments consisted of "No damage" (T1= Control), "Artificial defoliation of the main shoot (T2) and "Artificial cut of the main shoot (T3). I also measured for each tree the total height (H) and the diameters with bark at 1,30 m (Breast diameter) and 20 cm (Base diameter) from the ground. It was concluded that the artificial cut of the main shoot (equivalent to girdling by O. saga) affected growth in diameter and in height. The effect on height was equivalent to the effect due to defoliation of A. mangium by O. saga. Thus, we conclude that this beetle can be considered as a serious defoliator in this forest system.

For each species record, reference is included to catalogues that previously reported presence of the species in Iran, including Noyes (2019), distribution in Iran by province and extra-limital distribution by country. In addition to currently recognized countries, previously recognized political units are also included such as Yugoslavia and USSR, as well as some non-political regions such as Caucasus and Transcaucasus (a geographical region in the vicinity of the southern Caucasus Mountains on the border of Eastern Europe and Western Asia that roughly corresponds to present-day Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan). Also included for each species record are host records and plant associates in Iran, when known, and additional comments as necessary.

Abstract:
Same-sex love has existed in various forms previously within the Indian context. In this chapter, the need to break free from societal bonds, as well as the desire to gain legitimacy for queer relationships, will be explored. This will be done through close readings of the essays “We Will Always Be Who We Are” by Keshav Suri, “I Am a Chef Who Happens to Be a Lesbian” by Ritu Dalmia, and “From Margins to the Mainstream” by Zainab Patel. These essays will be analysed against the backdrop of Infinite Variety: A History of Desire in India by Madhavi Menon and Queer Studies: Texts, Contexts, and Praxis by Kaustav Bakshi and Rohit K. Dasgupta. This chapter will examine the oppression that queer people endure due to their non-heteronormative identity. It will also explore the silenced voices and histories and their effect on queer individuals through the medium of the select essays.
