Abstract:
An in vitro brain stem preparation from adult turtles was used to determine effects of dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) on the pattern of respiratory motor output recorded from hypoglossal nerve roots (XII). Bath-applied DA (10–200 μM) increased the frequency of respiratory bursts (peaks) from 0.9 ± 0.2 to 2.4 ± 0.3 (SE) peaks/min, resulting in a 99 ± 9% increase in neural minute activity. R[+]-SCH-23390 (10 μM, D1 antagonist) and eticlopride (20 μM, D2 antagonist) attenuated the DA-mediated increase in peak frequency by 52 and 59%, respectively. On the other hand, the DA-receptor agonists apomorphine (D1, D2), quinelorane (D2), and SKF-38393 (D1) had no effect on peak frequency. Prazosin, an α1-adrenergic antagonist (250 nM) abolished the DA-mediated frequency increase. Although NE (10–200 μM) and phenylephrine (10–200 μM, α1-adrenergic agonist) increased peak frequency from 0.5 ± 0.1 to 1.2 ± 0.3 peaks/min and from 0.6 ± 0.1 to 1.0 ± 0.2 peaks/min, respectively, these effects were not as large as that with DA alone. The data suggest that both dopaminergic and adrenergic receptor activation in the brain stem increase respiratory frequency in turtles, but the DA receptor-mediated increase is dependent on coactivation of α1-adrenergic receptors.

This paper aims to explore the onset and peak of the development of Gothic architecture, religious art and architecture eminently urban, between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries in the medieval West, in a socio-religious Catholic hegemony. The message sent to the faithful through the Gothic architecture, replacing Romanesque, indicates in this case a major change in mindset, since we consider the importance of semiotics in art, architecture and urban space.

Abstract:
Abstract Heparinase from different sources can eliminate heparin or/and heparan sulfate into various low-molecular weight heparins with different characteristics. Porcine intestinal mucosa heparin was degraded into a series of oligosaccharides by a novel heparinase from the species Sphingobacterium. Disaccharide components from the digests were separated and purified by ultrafiltration and HPLC. Five major peaks appeared as three types according to their retention time. The mass spectrometry of peak I mainly gave the non-sulfated disaccharide with the mass of 379 Da. Peak II and III were indicated as two major monosulfated disaccharides with molecular mass of 417 and 459 Da respectively. Moreover, the peak III represented an Nacetyl disaccharide. Both peak IV and V showed the same mass of 496 Da, hinting that they were disulfate-substituted disaccharides. No trisulfate-substituted disaccharides were detected in the mixture of the heparin digest though they were abundant in the heparin structure. The results revealed that the heparinase might specifically cut the sites with low sulfated domain in heparin.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Objective: To understand the influence of sports fatigue on plantar pressure distribution of healthy male college students and provide a theoretical basis for improving their awareness of foot health. Methods: Forty-nine ordinary male college students jogged along the 800-meter runway to moderate fatigue. All the subjects took off their shoes and socks and walked naturally with their usual gait. The dynamic plantar pressure of each foot was measured twice in one step. FootscanUSB2 Belgian flat-plate plantar pressure testing system was used for testing. Results: The average dynamic peak plantar pressure was (206.38 44.59) N for boys, and the changes of AA and CB walking speed in the arch did not change significantly. After fatigue, the peak pressure of FM, AA, RH5 in left foot and FM, AA, CB in right foot decreased significantly (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The peak time of RH and CB in the left foot was significantly shorter than that before fatigue (P < 0.05, P < 0.01), while FMF, AA, C areas had no significant change but tended to be delayed. There were significant differences in peak force-time between boys’ left and right feet except for the fifth metatarsal bone (P < 0.05). There is a significant difference in the peak force-time between the second and fifth toes of the left foot (P< 0.01), and there is a gender difference in the peak force-time between the second metatarsal and the third metatarsal (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Sports fatigue leads to the decrease of physiological functions such as muscle strength of lower limbs, which leads to the corresponding changes in gait stages, plantar pressure distribution parameters, and foot balance. Level of evidence II; Therapeutic studies - investigation of treatment results.

Abstract:
Abstract T-cell large granular lymphocyte (T-LGL) leukemia is a rare chronic lymphoproliferative disorder of cytotoxic T cells of unknown etiology. Chronic antigenic stimulation of T-lymphocytes in autoimmune diseases or viral infection has been postulated to play a role in the pathogenesis of this condition. Surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization (SELDI) mass spectrometry of plasma and serum specimens was applied as a useful screening method to determine pathophysiologic protein/peptide markers, which may be useful in the diagnosis of occult malignancies. In contrast to traditional diagnostic principles, the SELDI method enables screening of protein patterns without knowing the identity of targets. Patterns of up- and down-modulation of peptides and proteins (resulting from the presence of abnormal products of diseased cells, pathogens or immunogenetic factors) may signal various clinical features and diagnostic clues. We used SELDI mass spectrometry to study proteomic patterns in the plasma of patients with T-LGL leukemia. After initial screening and optimization we selected a hydrophobic H4 ProteinChip surface for further systematic screening. Deviation of mass values and peak intensities were <0.5% and <20%, respectively. Reproducibility was monitored by random duplication of samples with an average of 70 peaks per spectrum (mass/charge ratio from 1500–50,000 Da). Our study included plasma samples from 28 LGL patients, 9 patients with idiopathic neutropenia (without the presence of LGL clone) and 36 healthy blood donors. The diagnosis of T-LGL leukemia included the presence of monoclonal TCR rearrangement and flow cytometric detection of abnormal CD8+CD3+CD57+ cell population. Spectra were analyzed using Biomarker Patterns Software, which allows for internal cross validation for the prediction of the accuracy in a blinded test set. To separate LGL patients from patients with chronic neutropenia, intensity cut-off for 2050 Da peak was found in 22/28 LGL patients, resulting in 100% specificity and 67% sensitivity. Based on the intensities of 3 mass peaks (2274, 5870, 2660 Da), the sensitivity and specificity of LGL distinction from healthy controls was 96% and 61%, respectively. By direct digestion with carboxypeptidase Y on the ProteinChip surface, the C-terminal sequence of the 2050 Da mass peak has been identified. From the sequencing analysis and the search in the ExPASy protein database, we concluded that the 2050 Da mass peak corresponded to the fragment of complement C3 precursor. Additional 2 kDa mass peaks may represent various other C3 fragments. Interestingly, the intensity of the mass peak corresponding to the C3 fragments decreased with the application of immunosuppressive therapy when plasma samples from 3 LGL patients were serially analyzed. The pathophysiologic significance of the identified peak remains unclear, but increased expression of the C3 receptor on LGL cells has been reported. Our data in LGL leukemia indicate that SELDI mass spectrometry can be used to identify immune biomarkers for malignant lymphoproliferations.

Abstract:
The transmission spectrum of symmetrically structured one-dimensional photonic crystal (AB)m(BA)m consisting of positive and negative materials was studied with transfer matrix method theory. The result shows that a single narrow transmission peak constantly appears at the frequency of uneven ω/ω0, while a broad transmission peak appears at the frequency of even ω/ω0. When periodicity m or refractive index nA of Layer A increase, the narrow transmission peaks in the spectrum become sharper and the broad peaks become narrower; as refractive index nB of Layer B rises, all the peaks in the spectrum become broader; and when the thickness dA of Layer A medium thicken, the transmitting peaks move towards alto frequency, while with the thickening of dB of Layer B medium, these peaks move inversely towards low frequency. Furthermore, in these two circumstances, the transmitting peaks at right alto frequency move faster; however, peaks remain unchanged when both dA and dB concurrently thicken. All these optical transmission characteristics of symmetrically structured one-dimensional photonic crystals can offer guidance to designing adjustable super-narrow optical filters, broad band filters and optical switches.

Abstract:
Abstract We have analyzed the mechanisms controlling the accumulation of cytotoxic/suppressor T lymphocytes in tumor tissues. We found that tumor-infiltrating helper/inducer T cells isolated from T-9 gliosarcoma-sensitized rats between 4 and 6 days after T-9 gliosarcoma inoculation produced a lymphocyte migration factor (LMF) during in vitro culture. Four peaks of LMF activity (A through D) were detected upon fractionation of LMF by using a Mono Q anion exchange column chromatography. Peak C exhibited the strongest activity among the four peaks of LMF. The action of peak C was chemotactic, but not chemokinetic. Peak C had an isoelectric point of 8.0 and a Mr of 26,000 Da. Only cytotoxic/suppressor T cells were found to be sensitive to peak C in vitro as well as in vivo. It is thus likely that peak C is responsible for the infiltration of cytotoxic/suppressor T cells into tumor tissues. The infiltration of lymphocytes into tumor tissues might also be regulated by the expression of lymphocyte sensitivity for LMF. The target molecule for LMF at 4 days may involve an asparagine-linked oligosaccharide.

Abstract:
The dependence of the growth intensity of Juniperus excelsa M. Bieb on some environmental factors in the greenhouse conditions of the Southern Coast of the Crimea was studied. Vegetation and trunk diameter growth (d,%) started after March 15. There are two growth peaks: the first growth peak (15.03.–27.07.) led to an increase in d,% by 7.12% (0.053% per day) – with a slowdown in growth (28.04 –27.05) and (13.07 – 25.07) associated with a decrease in air temperature. The second – (12.09 – 18.11) led to an increase in d,% by 5.06% (0.075% per day), while also slowing growth at this time (05.11.–14.11.) was observed. After the second phase of active growth (14.11), there is an access to the growth plateau with the resumption of the growing season only in March next year. During the studied vegetation period (2019), the increase in trunk diameter d,% was 12.18% or 1.89 mm. Optimal conditions of maxima and boundaries of optimal regions for the first growth peak: d%=f(I,Ta) – Ta=22–28°C, I=500–800 mkmol/m2s, for d,%=f(I,Da) – Da=1.8–2.3 kPa, I=500–800 mkmol/m2s. For the second growth peak: d%=f(I,Ta) – Ta=22–26°C, I=400–750 mkmol/m2s, for d,%=f(I, Da) – Da =0.3–1.2 kPa, I=400–750 mkmol/m2s.

AbstractElectrochemical determination of dopamine (DA) in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA) was achieved on boron-doped diamond (BDD) film electrode by differential pulse voltammetry. The experimental results indicated that the oxidative peaks of DA and AA could be separated completely on anodically-treated (BDD) electrode without further modification, although these two peaks can not be separated on glassy carbon electrode. The peak separation of DA and AA was developed to be 0.44 V. High sensitivity was obtained to determine DA selectively with the coexisting of a large excess of AA in acidic media by DPV. The detection limit of DA was achieved to be 1.1 × 10-6 M in the presence of AA with the concentration of 200 times more than DA. This technique was also applied to the determination of DA in real samples.

Abstract:
This research reported the simple method to determine of dopamine (DA) in the simultaneous presence of ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA). Three – electrode system manufactured by screen printing method was used due to its disposal and low cost. The screen printed carbon electrode (SPCE) was oxidized by electrochemical technique in acid medium. The capacity of oxidized electrode for selective detection of dopamine was confirmed in a sufficient amount of ascorbic acid and uric acid. The large separated peaks of DA from ascorbic acid and uric acid are observed. The peak separation between UA and DA, DA and AA was 110 mV and 160 mV, respectively. The bare SPCE cannot determine simultaneously AA and DA due to the overlap peaks of AA and DA around 0.2 V vs AgCl/Ag. This sensor also exhibited good sensitivity to DA with limit of detection 100 nM in phosphate buffer solution.

Abstract:
In this study, molecular composition of hamster and rat blood was studied by gel permeation chromatography under natural (NH) and artificial hibernation (AH). The control group was represented by 5 fractions of molecules in hamsters and 7 in rats. The areas under peaks of the fractions similar in molecular weight in hamsters and rats were larger in rats. NH was characterized by appearance of new fractions (1,350, 2,350, and 6,350 Da) and an increase in areas under peaks of the control fractions (1,140 and 1,980 Da). Artificial hibernation in rats led to an increase in areas under peaks of 1,140 Da fraction, a decrease in that of 530 Da, and disappearance of 1290 Da, as well as the appearance of new fractions (650, 830, 950, 2350, and 5110 Da). Two hrs of later AH, the areas under peaks of 1,140 and 1,520 Da fractions were greater and that of 530 Da was lesser; 650, 2,350 and 5,110 Da fractions disappeared, 1,290 Da reappeared and new fraction of 4,030 Da appeared. New fractions of 5,820 and 6,530 Da were found 24 hrs later. In hamsters under AH, the areas under peaks of 1,140, 1,600, and 3,330 Da increased; as well as a new peak in 5,280 Da appeared, both in the control rats and those in 24 hrs after AH.

Abstract:
INTRODUCTION: The history of Anatomy, its artistic representation and the history of the human body, with its taboos, have come a long way until the present moment. The objective of this work is to understand the historical points of this area of knowledge, as well as the subjectivity involved, correlating it with Literature and the Arts. DEVELOPMENT: The production of anatomical knowledge begins in prehistory; it is watertight in the Middle Ages; gains momentum in Oriental Medicine and reaches its peak in spectacles of public dissections. Anatomy is established as a form of entertainment through the regulation of public dissections, leading to the trivialization of death, the appreciation of the grotesque, the scarcity of corpses and the fear of misappropriation of bodies. As anatomy has grown as an area of knowledge, it has created the basis for health sciences and human care. It has emerged over time that the study of anatomical pieces requires essential principles - sensitivity, ethics and respect - and allows us to reflect on the transposition of the boundaries between the beautiful versus the grotesque; the pleasant versus the disgusting. It also allows reflection on the trivialization, commercialization and eroticization of the body, as well as on the limits of science. CONCLUSION: Human anatomy, in its multiple aspects, has come a long way and constitutes a precious source of knowledge, however, it is faced with enticement by the most different interests. It is necessary to rescue the beauty of the human body, which is an inseparable part of the being that inhabits / dwelt there in order to resignify its human essence.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium represents a health threat due to its ability to spread and cause outbreaks. MALDI-TOF MS has demonstrated its usefulness for E. faecium identification, but its implementation for antimicrobial resistance detection is still under evaluation. This study assesses the repeatability of MALDI-TOF MS for peak analysis and its performance in the discrimination of vancomycin-susceptible (VSE) from vancomycin-resistant isolates (VRE). The study was carried out on protein spectra from 178 E. faecium unique clinical isolates—92 VSE, 31 VanA VRE, 55 VanB VRE-, processed with Clover MS Data Analysis software. Technical and biological repeatability were assayed. Unsupervised (principal component analysis, (PCA)) and supervised algorithms (support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF) and partial least squares–discriminant analysis (PLS-DA)) were applied. The repeatability assay was performed with 18 peaks common to VSE and VRE with intensities above 1.0% of the maximum peak intensity. It showed lower variability for normalized data and for the peaks within the 3000–9000 m/z range. It was found that 80.9%, 79.2% and 77.5% VSE vs. VRE discrimination was achieved by applying SVM, RF and PLS-DA, respectively. Correct internal differentiation of VanA from VanB VRE isolates was obtained by SVM in 86.6% cases. The implementation of MALDI-TOF MS and peak analysis could represent a rapid and effective tool for VRE screening. However, further improvements are needed to increase the accuracy of this approach.

Abstract:
The electrochemical behavior of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), and uric acid (UA) on a dl-norvaline-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was studied by cyclic voltammetry. The bare GCE failed to distinguish the oxidation peaks of AA, DA, and UA in phosphate-buffered solution (pH 5.0), while the dl-norvaline-modified GCE could separate them efficiently. In differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) measurements, the modified electrode resolved the overlapped voltammetric responses of AA, DA, and UA into three well-defined voltammetric peaks. Under optimum conditions, the anodic peak currents of DPV for AA, DA, and UA were proportional to the concentration in the range of 20–400, 1–40, and 15–180 μmol/L, respectively, with a correlation coefficient (r) of around 0.998. The detection limits were 5, 0.3, and 10 μmol/L (S/N = 3) for AA, DA, and UA, respectively. Satisfactory results were achieved for the determination of AA in vitamin C tablets, DA in a dopamine ampoule sample, and UA in human blood serum samples.

Abstract:
Dopamine (DA) is the most important neurotransmitter involved in motor control. Abnormalities in neurotransmitter levels may indicate brain disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease and depression. Herein, electrochemical sensors containing metal oxide nanoparticles were fabricated for detecting DA. Specifically, iron oxide nanoparticles were applied onto a flexible polyimide substrate to obtain a flexible microelectrode and their DA detection performance was evaluated in vitro and in vivo. The electrochemical performance of the fabricated sensor was evaluated via fast-scan cyclic voltammetry conducted in a DA solution at concentrations between 0 and 50 nM. The peak current corresponding to the oxidation reaction of the Fe2O3-modified microelectrode for DA was observed at an applied potential of 0.49 V. The modified microelectrode exhibited a DA response with a high sensitivity of 34.14 nA/ μm2 nM and a low limit of detection of 8.76 nM. In vivo experiments were performed using a freely moving mouse. Notably, 15 min after nicotine injection, the current increased considerably. The peak current corresponded to a 10 nM concentration in the calibration curve. The co-detection of DA and serotonin was also analyzed. The results showed that only the oxidation peak of DA appeared upon applying a triangular voltage waveform. Therefore, the proposed detector is capable of overcoming the drawbacks associated with conventional detectors and can be integrated with other implantable devices.

Abstract:

DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1980-0037.2016v18n3p332 Physiological effects of thermal changes in tissues might influence some physical properties of muscle fibers, such as strength. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of cryotherapy and microwave diathermy application on the strength production capacity of the elbow flexor muscles. Thirty male, healthy and sedentary subjects, with average age of 22.40 (±3.42) years, participated in this prospective study. Participants were submitted to assessment of isometric strength production capability by an adapted load cell. Half of volunteers received cryotherapy on the first day of application and microwave diathermy (MD) 48 hours later, whereas the other half was treated the other way around. Cryotherapy was applied up to the temperature of the biceps region reached 25ºC, and MD was applied up to 42ºC. Six peak strength reevaluations were made over 2 hours. There was significant increase in peak strength (PS) up to 15 minutes after cryotherapy, then there was a decrease in maximum isometric strength, however, statistically significant difference remained up to 1 hour and 30 minutes after cryotherapy. In MD, PS decreased significantly after application until 15 min. From this moment, PS returned close to the initial value, and in the last assessment, PS reduced again. Cryotherapy and MD differently interfered in isometric muscle strength production capacity of elbow flexors, while cooling generated increment, heating caused decline.

Abstract:
Orthotopic heart transplantation results in cardiac denervation that can disrupt the normal regulation of hydromineral balance. This study compared the exercise-induced variations in plasma osmolality; atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), arginine vasopressin (AVP), norepinephrine (NE), epinephrine (E), and dopamine (DA) concentrations; and plasma renin activity (PRA) of six cardiac transplant recipients (HTX) and six healthy age-matched controls (C) submitted to graded upright maximal cycling. Venous blood samples were obtained at rest, at submaximal (70% O2 uptake) and peak exercise, and after 10 and 30 min of sitting recovery. Peak O2 uptake was not different between groups despite lower maximal heart rate in HTX (136 +/- 6 vs. 183 +/- 9 beats/min). Baseline plasma ANP and PRA were higher in HTX (203 +/- 55 pg/ml and 29.9 +/- 7.4 ng.ml-1 x h-1) than in C (71 +/- 17 pg/ml and 5.4 +/- 0.96 ng.ml-1 x h-1); AVP was lower in HTX than in C (1.1 +/- 0.3 vs. 3.2 +/- 0.8 pg/ml; P < 0.05); and circulating E, NE, and DA were not different between groups. Exercise resulted in more marked increases in HTX than in C for ANP (300 vs. 100%), AVP (2,000 vs. 300%), NE (860 vs. 500%), and DA (611 vs. 187%) but not for PRA and a higher E response in C than in HTX (455 vs. 1,258%). These observations confirm that the potential for ANP release to central volume loading is independent of intact cardiac innervation. The exaggerated AVP response in HTX could, however, reflect the absence of inhibitory influences consecutive to denervation.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Abstract:
Abstract An ELISA using antibody to properdin (P), followed by antibody to C3 to detect complexes of P with C3 (P-C3), detected low levels of P-C3 complexes in human serum and plasma samples. Incubating serum for 1 h at 37 degrees C increased the amount of P-C3 and diminished factor B hemolytic activity without altering total alternative pathway activity or C3 activity in serum. When P and C3 in incubated serum were analyzed by size exclusion HPLC, complexes of P-C3 were detected at retention times corresponding to molecular mass measuring in excess of 2 x 10(6) Da. Activation of serum with zymosan or cobra venom factor greatly increased the level of P-C3 and decreased alternative pathway hemolytic activity. Chromatography of proteins eluted from serum-treated zymosan detected a peak of P at 9.7 x 10(5) Da and a peak of P-C3 at 1.5 x 10(6) Da. Functional assays for activated properdin also revealed a peak of activity at 1.5 x 10(6) Da, congruent with the peak of P-C3. Native properdin was detected at 3.9 x 10(5) Da. When native properdin was added to properdin-depleted serum and incubated for 1 h at 37 degrees C, activated properdin was detected at the same position in the chromatograph as were P-C3 complexes. We conclude that incubation of serum at 37 degrees C produces complexes of P with C3, that exposure of serum to alternative pathway activators increases the amount of P-C3, and that generation of P-C3 complexes is associated with the presence of activated P.

Abstract:
Several simple electrochemical sensors were designed for three analytes, uric acid (UA), dopamine (DA) and ascorbic acid (AA) detection via electrolytic deposition of three functional materials heme, Fc(Cys)2 and Fc-ECG onto glassy carbon electrodes (GCEs) without other medium. Characterization of the modified GCEs was conducted using SEM, TEM and DPV methods. Results showed that the heme/GCE demonstrated notable electro-catalytic capabilities, towards DA, AA, and UA oxidation in a solution of phosphate buffer. The current signals of DPV technique for three analytes shown up three defined oxidated peaks, the peak potential differences was 192 mV for AA and DA, and 142 mV for DA and UA. Under optimal conditions, it can be obtained linear responses for AA, DA and UA in the following concentration ranges: 10 to 50, 5 to 20, and 2.5 to 20 μmol·L–1, and the limits of detection was calculated as 0.76, 0.50 and 0.63 μmol·L–1, respectively. The results demonstrated that the heme directly modified GCE was a well-suited electrochemical sensor for determining UA, DA and AA in actual samples.

Abstract:
Background: In Veterinary Medicine, there are several methods for early and accurate assessment of blood flow dynamics. The Dopplerfluxometry can access the peak systolic velocity, mean velocity and end diastolic velocity, including Resistive Index and Pulsatility Index. Normal values of Dopplerfluxometry in healthy dogs allow the identification of vascular abnormalities and authors’ knowledge there are no reference regarding the values of Dopplerfluxometry of the femoral artery in healthy dogs. The aim of the study was to assess the femoral Dopplerfluxometry of adult healthy dogs by Resistive Index, Pulsatility Index, systolic and diastolic velocities, and femoral artery diameter.Materials, Methods & Results: Eighteen healthy intact beagle dogs, male and female, aging from 2 to 4 years old (mean ± SD: mean 3 ± 0.8 years), weighing from 10.1-17.9 kg [22.3-39.5 lb] [mean ± SD: 14.3 ± 2.7 kg (31.5 ± 5.96 lb)] were used. The dogs underwent to physical examination, complete blood cell count, serum biochemistry examination urinalysis, and radiographs examination, muscular and cardiac evaluation. Females had to be in anestrous. All dogs were submitted to right femoral artery Dopplerfluxometry. The dogs were positioned in dorsal recumbency by one person without any chemical restraint. A high definition ultrasound device equipped with a 3 - 13 MHz multi-frequency linear transducer was used. The right femoral artery was identified with the transducer positioned transversely on the right triangle femoral area. Peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity was measured. The Resistivity Index and Pulsatility Index were calculated automatically by the ultrasound machine software. Three measurements were obtained with the Doppler spectrum. The values of peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity, Resistivity Index, Pulsatility Index and femoral artery diameter were expressed as Mean ± Standard Deviation (SD).Discussion: No studies regarding to femoral artery Dopplerfluxometry in healthy dogs were found in the literature. These results can be used as normal reference values of Dopplerfluxometric parameters for adult dogs. The literature cited only Dopplerfluxometric values of renal arteries, abdominal aorta and of the internal thoracic artery. The normal values of arterial Dopplerfluxometry is necessary to identify the spectral quantitative characteristics of the blood flow for diagnosis and prognosis of vascular diseases. Authors referred to changes in blood perfusion by Dopplerfluxometry examination, but no changes in B-mode ultrasonography. The femoral Resistivity Index values can be used to correlate the postoperative evolution in dogs submitted to femoral bone, hip and knee surgeries, since Dopplerfluxometry allows blood flow assessment in the femoral region muscles. Changes in the heart rate, blood pressure, stress, exercise, and diseases as hypotension, renal lesion, hepatic diseases, diabetes, hyperadrenocorticism can change the Dopplerfluxometric parameters. All dogs which used in this study were clinically healthy, and were used beagle dogs due to lowest variations within breed. Sedation was avoid due to possible changes in Dopplerfluxometric parameters since the use of sedation or tranquilization in animals is strongly discussed due to possible hemodynamic changes that may occur during the examination. In conclusion, the mean values of the right femoral artery Dopplerfluxometry in male and female adult healthy dogs is Resistivity Index (0.887); Pulsatility Index (1.599); peak systolic velocity (124.41 cm/s), end-diastolic velocity (14.12 cm/s), femoral artery diameter (3.9 mm).

Abstract:
Selective detection of dopamine (DA) in presence of ascorbic (AA) is an important analytical problem, due to its combined existence in the biological system. In the present study, we are reporting an electrochemical detection method for dopamine (DA) in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA) using graphitized nanoporous carbon (NPC) modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE/NPC) in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution. The modified electrode shows excellent electrocatalytic activities towards the oxidations of DA and AA in neutral pH buffer solution. Compared to unmodified GCE, GCE/NPC shows well separated and enhanced oxidation peak currents. Differential pulse voltammetric technique used as qualitative analytical tool for the detection of DA. The oxidation peak potentials for DA and AA were at -80 and 136 mV vs Ag/AgCl respectively. The modified electrode shows good stability and reproducibility with the relative standard deviation value of 2.6 %. The analytical application of the modified electrode (GCE/NPC) was demonstrated for the individual determination of DA in clinical injection and pharmaceutical tablet by using standard addition method.

Abstract:
A gold electrode was modified with electropolymerized films of p-methoxyphenol by its oxidative polymerization from an alkaline solution by cyclic voltammetry. The modified electrode was then used to determine dopamine (DA) in the presence of a high concentration of ascorbic acid (AA) by differential pulse voltammetry. The peak positions as well as relative sensitivity DA/AA were affected by the potential window used for the polymerization. For polymerization between 0 and 1.0 V, the peak potentials recorded in a phosphate buffer solution (pH = 7.2) were 516 and 312 mV versus Ag/AgCl for DA and AA, respectively. In addition to the effects of pH and the type of electrolyte on the linearity range and detection limit are investigated. The detection limit for 3s-test is 0.1 nM. The high selectivity and sensitivity for DA was found to be due to charge discrimination/analyte accumulation.

Abstract:
A chemically modified carbon paste electrode, based on a CoMOF-graphene oxide (GO) and an ionic liquid of 1-methyl-3-butylimidazolium bromide (CoMOF-GO/1-M,3-BB/CPE), was fabricated for the simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA). The prepared CoMOF/GO nanocomposite was characterized by field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), the X-ray diffraction (XRD) method, a N2 adsorption–desorption isotherm, and an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The electrochemical sensor clearly illustrated catalytic activity towards the redox reaction of dopamine (DA), which can be authenticated by comparing the increased oxidation peak current with the bare carbon paste electrode. The CoMOF-GO/1-M,3-BB/CPE exhibits a wide linear response for DA in the concentration range of 0.1 to 300.0 µM, with a detection limit of 0.04 µM. The oxidation peaks’ potential for DA and uric acid (UA) were separated well in the mixture containing the two compounds. This study demonstrated a simple and effective method for detecting DA and UA in real samples.

Abstract:
The titanium sol was prepared by depositing the organic titanium on glassy carbon electrode surface. Electrophoresis time and the applied voltage as well can markedly influence the electrochemical behavior of the nanoTiO2film. In contrast with bare glassy carbon electrode, the nanoTiO2film on glassy carbon electrode had a good electrocatalytic activity to dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA) in PBS solution. The result showed that there was a linear relationship between the oxidation peak currents and the concentration of DA from 8.0×10-6to 4.0×10-4mol·L-1by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and there was a linear relationship between the oxidation peak currents and the concentration of UA from 8×10-6to 1.0×10-3mol·L-1. This modified electrode was quite effective to detect DA and UA in simultaneous determination of these species in a mixture.

Abstract:
Glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified using graphene (G), quercetin (Qu) and Nafion in this sequence to fabricate Nafion-Qu-G composite-modified GCE (Nafion/Qu/G/GCE). The as-prepared modified electrode combining the advantages of Nafion, Qu and G was employed for the selective and sensitive detection of dopamine (DA) in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA). Compared with GCE, Qu/GCE, G/GCE and Qu/G/GCE, the Nafion/Qu/G/GCE was more electroactive and selective for DA. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) was used for electrochemical detection, the separations of the oxidation peak potentials for AA-DA and DA-UA were about 304 mV and 136 mV, which allowed selectively determining DA. In phosphate buffer solution (PBS) of pH 6.8, the Nafion/Qu/G/GCE provided a detection limit of 2.31×10-8 mol/L (S/N=3) for DA. Linearity (R=0.9963) of the peak currents against the concentration of DA was found over the range of 1.0×10-7 to 1.0×10-3 mol/L. Furthermore, the modified electrode exhibited good reproducibility and stability.

Palavras-chave: Oscilação Decadal do Pacífico, Baixo São Francisco, Análise de Ondeletas Study of the Influence of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation in the Northeast of Brazil ABSTRACT It is intended this work to investigate how the PDO influence on rainfall variability in the sub-basin of the Lower São Francisco, located in northeastern Brazil. Abstract:

Abstract:
A ternary polyaniline/Fe2O3-SnO2/reduced graphene oxide (PFSG) nanocomposite was prepared using a simple two-step hydrothermal treatment. The composite was applied as a glassy carbon electrode modifier (GCE) to enhance dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA) detection. The ternary PFSG composite was compared with its binary precursor Fe2O3-SnO2/reduced graphene oxide (FSG). The influence of the modified GCE electrodes on their performance as a sensing platform was determined. GCE/PFSG showed better sensing parameters than GCE/FSG due to the introduction of polyaniline (PANI), increasing the electrocatalytic properties of the electrode towards the detected analytes. GCE/PFSG enabled the detection of low concentrations of DA (0.076 µM) and UA (1.6 µM). The peak potential separation between DA and UA was very good (180 mV). Moreover, the DA oxidation peak was unaffected even if the concentration of UA was ten times higher. The fabricated sensor showed excellent performance in the simultaneous detection with DA and UA limits of detection: LODDA = 0.15 µM and LODUA = 6.4 µM, and outstanding long-term stability towards DA and UA, holding 100% and 90% of their initial signals respectively, after one month of use.

A biosensor based on gold electrode modified by Pt nanaoparticles/Osmium redox polymer/Nafion trilayer film was fabricated and used for selective and sensitive determination of dopamine. The biosensor is explored for DA sensing using the cyclic voltammetry (CV), amperometric and differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) methods. The CV anodic peak currents showed a linear range with a correlation coefficient of 0.996, localized in the concentration range 0~192 μM. The differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) peak currents were linear with DA concentration during 2~425 μM with correlation coefficient of 0.99. The biosensor showed high sensitivity of 0.5 nA /nM cm2 and excellent reproducibility with the detection limit of ~10 nM (S/N=3) for the determination of DA. The easy fabrication, low detection limit and high sensitivity of the integrated biosensor making it particularly suitable for the analytical purposes.

Abstract:
This study investigated the chloride transport performance of basalt-polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete (BPFRC) subjected to drying-wetting cycles. The effects of the strength grade, basalt fiber (BF), polypropylene fiber (PF), and hybrid BF-PF on the pore solution pH, chloride concentration distribution, chloride peak concentration (Cmax), and apparent chloride diffusion coefficient (Da) of the BPFRC were analyzed, and a multifactor model of Da was established. Moreover, the microstructures of BPFRC were studied to explore the effect of fibers on chloride transport performance of concrete in terms of theoretical pore volume, fiber-matrix interface, fiber bonding properties, and corrosion morphology. The results showed that the chloride concentration of the BPFRC increased and the pore solution pH of the BPFRC decreased with the increase in the exposure time. The chloride concentration and Da of the BPFRC decreased with the increase in the strength grade. At a fiber volume content of 0.1%, the addition of BF and PF reduced the chloride concentration and Da of the BPFRC; at a fiber volume content of 0.2%, the addition of hybrid BF-PF increased the chloride concentration and Da of the concrete. The chloride peak concentration appeared at the depth of 2 mm inside the concrete, and the change of the chloride peak concentration with exposure time followed the power function model. The theoretical pore volume of the BPFRC specimens decreased initially and then increased with the increase in the exposure time. FE-SEM observed that the bonding property between BF and matrix was better than that of PF, which could effectively control the development of microcracks.
