Full textA note in a score, as other musical objects, can be considered as an entity having some properties. These last are represented by atomic values in columns on a line of relational data base table. The representation of all notes in the score in relational form of tables as a totality of columns and lines facilitates the access to the music analysis of open character: each can interrogate following each problematic the database that represents and stocks the score. The score of Variations for orchestra op. 30 of Anton Webern, as an example of application of the concept of “Relational Database-aided Music Analysis”, is represented, stored, and analyzed in a classificatory and a paradigmatic way: All sets, all intervals, and all chords existing in the score are retrieved, as a result on can verify the dominant intervals and chords; the particularities concerned distribution of notes in the register, duration, intensity and orchestration are also recognized

Full textIn this work, we have introduced the underlying concept of PUFEM and the basic formulation related to the Helmholtz equation in a bounded domain. The plane wave enrichment process of PUFEM variables was shown and explained in detail. The main idea is to include a priori knowledge about the local behavior of the solution into the finite element space by using a set of wave functions that are solutions to the partial differential equations. In this study, the use of plane waves propagating in various directions was favored as it leads to efficient computing algorithms. In addition, we showed that the number of plane wave directions depends on the size of the PUFEM element and the wave frequency both in 2D and 3D. The selection approaches for these plane waves were also illustrated. For 3D problems, we have investigated two distribution schemes of plane wave directions which are the discretized cube method and the Coulomb force method. It has been shown that the latter allows to get uniformly spaced wave directions and enables us to acquire an arbitrary number of plane waves attached to each node of the PUFEM element, making the method more flexible. In Chapter 3, we investigated the numerical simulation of propagating waves in two dimensions using PUFEM. The main priority of this chapter is to come up with an Exact Integration Scheme (EIS), resulting in a fast integration algorithm for computing system coefficient matrices with high accuracy. The 2D PUFEM element was then employed to solve an acoustic transmission problem involving porous materials. Results have been verified and validated through the comparison with analytical solutions. Comparisons between the Exact Integration Scheme (EIS) and Gaussian quadrature showed the substantial gain offered by the EIS in terms of CPU time.A 3D Exact Integration Scheme was presented in Chapter 4, in order to accelerate and compute accurately (up to machine precision) of highly oscillatory integrals arising from the PUFEM matrix coefficients associated with the 3D Helmholtz equation. Through convergence tests, a criteria for selecting the number of plane waves was proposed. It was shown that this number only grows quadratically with the frequency thus giving rise to a drastic reduction in the total number of degrees of freedoms in comparison to classical FEM. The method has been verified for two numerical examples. In both cases, the method is shown to converge to the exact solution. For the cavity problem with a monopole source located inside, we tested two numerical models to assess their relative performance. In this scenario where the exact solution is singular, the number of wave directions has to be chosen sufficiently high to ensure that results have converged. In the last Chapter, we have investigated the numerical performances of the PUFEM for solving 3D interior sound fields and wave transmission problems in which absorbing materials are present. For the specific case of a locally reacting material modeled by a surface impedance. A numerical error estimation criteria is proposed by simply considering a purely imaginary impedance which is known to produce real-valued solutions. Based on this error estimate, it has been shown that the PUFEM can achieve accurate solutions while maintaining a very low computational cost, and only around 2 degrees of freedom per wavelength were found to be sufficient. We also extended the PUFEM for solving wave transmission problems between the air and a porous material modeled as an equivalent homogeneous fluid. A simple 1D problem was tested (standing wave tube) and the PUFEM solutions were found to be around 1% error which is sufficient for engineering purposes

Brazil, it is nowadays, is one of the main producing of sea shrimp of the world. Due to this position, necessary that is done there are discussions that relates this activity to the environmental preservation, aiming avoid, among others problems, irreparable damages to the mangroves ecosystem and modification in the water quality of the rivers that receive effluent of the ponds. In this sense the metals behavior comprehension in natural waters is indispensable. Some metals besides being essential nutritious, also are toxic to the aquatic organisms. And, they constitute in an agent polluter, in potential. In this context, in this work, were collected waters of a tank of species marine shimp cultivation Litopenaus vanamei, located in the district of Santa Rita, estuary area of the Ribeira river, in Paraiba state. Due to the contribution of the metals Cu, Fe and Zn in the column of water of the creation tanks, it tried to evaluate the contribution of each one of the metallic species. Like this, for seven months, samples of water of the shrimp pound were collected and separate in the fractions: (A) soluble fraction (filtered through membrane 0,45 μm); (B) labile fraction (extraction to cold of the particulate matter); (C) total fraction (extrated by acid under heating of the particulate matter). In addition to the quantity of metals, they were determined the variations of OD (Dissolved Oxygen), SPM Suspended Particulate Matter, Salinity, pH and Temperature. By observing the obtained data, about the pH influence and OD on the metals partitioning one verifies that OD in the partition of the metals, OD is more correlated with the fractions A and B of Fe and Zn, while the pH influences more the fraction C of all the metals. So much SPM, Salinity and the partitioning of the metals enhanced differences among the months, but no so significantly in the heights of water column. Besides, it was also observed correlation among fraction C of Zn and Salinity, and in smaller extension, among fraction C of Fe and this parameter. Before the high complexity and specificity of the waters of shrimp cultivation, owed to the presence of the natural aquatic biotic (phyto and zooplankton), the ration composition (proteins, vitamins, micronutrients, etc.) in addition to the peculiarities of the estuary waters, they turn the creation tanks, extremely dynamic and atypical systems

In this session, we discuss the stability analisys of systems with parametric uncertainty by using robust D-partition. Among several parametric space methods, D-partition is an applicable method in the analysis of system stability. Many people proposed some theorem in the domain of D-partition. With the characteristic polynomial of systems, D-partition subdivides controller parametric space into several subdomain. Each subdomain includes the difference kind of poles, called D-partition areas. The lines which subdivide the subdomains was called D-partition boundary. If the system has uncertain parameters, D-partition boundary will expanse to band. It is called D-partition border. To locate the boundary of the border is the key to analyze the stability of systems. The formation of the boundary of the D-partition border is enslaved to the characteristic polynomial of system. In this paper, we will derive the form of robust D-partition. It is important that how to locate the D-partition boundary rapidly. After deciding the polynomial of the boundary by using D-partition method, it could be located precisely with locus tracking methods. The kind of methods must make a choose on a starting point before tracking. If the boundary does not lap over the starting point, it can not be found. Therefore, the locus tracking method can not provide a guarantee of locating all boundary in the parametric space. To be sure that, we quote the concept of branch and bound. The concept is that the controller parametric space is subdivided into several subdomain, and exclude the subdomain which does not include the boundary. The remain subdomain repeat the procedure until the subdomain is small enough. Finally, the remain subdomain is the set of D-partition boundary. For checking whether the boundary is included in subdomain rapidly, we will use the Bernstein expansion. This kind of method specified a set of base function to make a transformation with the object function. Because of the properties of the base function, it help us to evaluate the value of object function. At last, we link up the theorem and technology of D-partition for the application of parametric uncertainty of general systems, and prove the D-partition is applicable and realizable.

For simulation of semiconductor device with special structure , we usually partition irregular region into smaller pieces to make an appropriate grid to provide a reasonable approximation of geometry. However, additional node caused by incorrect area-partition will result in unpredictable errors. In this thesis, we develop a transition layer with three right-angled triangle meshes. For verification , a simple resistor will be simulated and compared to the theoretical value. Finally, we apply this transition layer to simulate the current density profile in different depths for a resistor , and to simulate PN junction characteristics.

In this thesis, we focus on how to effectively save the required memory space when simulate a semiconductor device. We can substantially reduce the required memory space by using device partition method. So, we can increase the node numbers by taking the advantage of device partition method and get the most accurate result. We developed the Flexible Device Partition Method. By using this method, we can partition the device into several parts as we want. So it can work more efficiently, and we will apply it to 2-D and 3-D device simulation. Finally, we will use this method to simulate a transmission-gate circuit and show the advantage of T-G in circuit design.

Abstract In this thesis, we focus on how to effectively save required memory space when simulate a semiconductor device. We develop four different methods to simulate semiconductor devices. First method is coupled method(CM). It requires biggest memory space in all of the methods. Second method is partial decoupled method(PDM). The memory space with PDM is less than CM. Last, we develop device-partition method. It can be divided into two different modes. One is overlapped mode, the other is unoverlapped mode. The advantage of device-partition method is that our program can be compiled without limitation by memory space. We will use these methods to simulate an n-channel MOSFET and compare simulation result. Finally, we will use these methods to simulate a CMOS circuit and compare simulation result also.

Full textThe interface tribo-layer (ITL) in an automotive brake friction pair is a layer of material created from transfer films, wear particles, and surface transformations between the rotor and stator. Its presence in a brake friction interface has been proven, e.g. by the existence of a temperature ‘jump’ across the friction interface. In this paper two static transient heat transfer models which force one dimensional heat flow, have been used to investigate the ITL behaviour and obtain an equivalent thermal conductance value. The ITL equivalent thermal conductance value is important as it reduces computational requirements and software restrictions encountered in the physical model of the ITL. This approach is developed into a more realistic two-dimensional coupled temperature-displacement model using commercial FEA software (ABAQUS). A newly developed relationship that utilises the contact pressure, real contact area, and the ITL equivalent thermal conductance, has been used to estimate the effective thermal conductance at the friction interface. Subsequently the effective thermal conductance relationship is combined with the 2-D coupled temperaturedisplacement model. The combination of this relationship with the 2D FE model provides a new method of heat partition prediction in brake friction pairs. Heat partition at a brake friction interface is confirmed to be neither uniform nor constant with time.
