Feature-oriented software development (FOSD) is a paradigm that can be used, among others, to structure a software system around the feature concept that can represents small functionalities and non-functional requirements. Besides their role in software structure, FOSD enables the activation and deactivation of individual features in a given configuration of the software. This advantage can be useful in scenarios where the variability of the software is required. On the other hand, the adoption of FOSD can be done for an existing software system, thus, becomes necessary to apply some reverse engineering technique to extract features from a legacy code base, and also the mapping between these features and their implementations. This dissertation presents a new approach to aid in the reverse engineering activity, that relates historical data from issue tracking systems and source-code changes. The approach relies upon Mining Software Repositories (MSR) techniques, specifically the clustering based on co-evolutionary dependencies between source-code elements, which leads to the discover of co-change clusters. Thus, the goal of this work is to discover the properties of the co-change clusters that can be useful in a feature extraction process. Specifically, a set of terms, associated with the clusters, which reveal concepts that can help to identify features. According to the study results, co-change clusters have no advantage when used as a modular unit, but can reveal new dependencies that is hidden to the developer. They also show that the co-change clusters have conceptual cohesion, and can be used to extract concepts and the terms associated with them. In the end, the concepts extracted from co-change clusters can be used to build a mapping from them and the source-code, and that can be used as a input seed list to feature expansion methods.

Abstract: Lactic acid based polymers are widely investigated as materials for tissue engineering. The ability to allow hydrolytic degradation, to be reabsorbed by the body and its inherent biocompatibility, make them an excellent choice for this application. However, characteristics such as low flexibility and low elongation ability before the fracture tend to limit these devices in particular applications, which can be enhanced with the addition of compounds that act as plasticizers, as the trimethylene carbonate (TMC) when present in the polymer chain of the copolymer of lactic acid (PLDLA). The objective of this work was to synthesize and characterize the terpolymer of L-lactic acid, D,L-lactic acid and TMC, obtain evaluation of scaffolds for cell viability and alkaline phosphatase activity of osteoblastic cells (SaOS-2) in 1, 3, 7, 14 and 21 days of culture, aiming its application in bone tissue engineering. Thus, the terpolymer is synthesized from 20 and 30% of TMC, by bulk polymerization of monomers, confirmed by 1H and 13C RMN. The GPC analysis showed that the copolymers synthesized showed average molar mass (Mw) in the order of 105 g/mol, an important feature that allows the attainment of minimum mechanical properties necessary for structural applications. The thermal investigation of thermal PLDLA-TMC showed a slight decrease of Tg comparing to PLDLA. Furthermore, the one step terpolymer degradation was initiated around 290 ºC, as shown by TGA. The MTT assay showed that the PLDLA-TMC scaffolds enabled an increase in cell viability, reaching a peak in 7 days, and remained stable until 14 days of cultivation. Similarly, the alkaline phosphatase activity was increased up to 7 days of culture, an important indicator of osteoblastic activity. These results show that it was possible to successfully produce a terpolymer from L-lactic acid, D,L-lactic acid and trimethylene carbonate. In addition, the scaffolds exhibited important characteristics considering the application for bone tissue engineering

Abstract: Biodegradable synthetic polymers have found application in different areas of medicine, especially in orthopedics devices. The main advantage of these biomaterials compared to the metals materials is the fact of the use of biodegradable implants avoid the/necessity of a second surgery to removal the device, resulting in a lower costs and minor risks for the patient. Poly(L-co-D,L lactic acid-co-trimethylene carbonate), PLDLA-TMC, pins, content 30% of TMC were obtained and characterized by in vitro and in vivo study aiming application as fracture devices. Pins with 2,5mm of diameter were obtained by melting of polymer and immersed into the buffer phosphate solution, pH 7,4 to study in vitro degradation process and implanted in Wistars rats tibia to evaluate the bone formation after 15, 60, 90, 120 e 150 days. Results obtained from the in vitro degradation of the PLDLA-co-TMC pins showed that thermal, mechanical and morphological properties remained without alterations until 90 days, considering the glass transition temperature, Young modulus, maximum tension at the elongation and loss of mass. In spite of this, variation of molar mass was nitid since the initial of the degradation process. These results are in accordance with in vivo study, which showed the occurrence of bone neoformation in the initial times of implant, mainly after 60 and 90 days and presence of bone formation more organized and mature with minor presence of fibrosis than control group. These results are indicative that this material presents a potential to be applied as a device for recuperation of bone lesion in a situation where it is necessary the permanence of the implant for a long period of time and so with the advantage of the degradation, avoiding it to be removed
