Abstract:
New types of laboratory reactors that are highly customizable, low-cost and easy to produce are needed to investigate low-temperature geochemical processes. We recently showed that desktop 3D printing stereolithography (SLA) can be used to efficiently fabricate a mixed flow reactor (MFR) with high dimensional accuracy comparable to traditional machining methods (Michel et al., 2018). We also showed that the SLA method allowed for the addition of complex features that are often beyond the capabilities of traditional methods. However, the stability of 3D printed parts at low-temperature geochemical conditions has not been fully evaluated. The objectives of this work were twofold: 1) to provide a framework for assessing the stability and compatibility of SLA printed materials at geochemically relevant conditions, and 2) to show how 3D printed specialty devices can enable new laboratory geochemical experiments. Part 1 of this Master's thesis presents findings for enhancing mechanical and solvent resistance properties of a commercial 3D printing material (Formlabs Clear) by UV post-curing procedures and also provide data showing its stability in aqueous solutions at pH 0, 5.7, and 12 for periods of up to 18 days. Thermal degradation patterns, mechanical analysis, and leachable fraction data are provided. Part 2 shows experiments coupling 3D printed reactors and flow devices for in situ small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS). Schwertmannite (pH 2.7) and goethite (6.2) are precipitated from solution using various setups and observed differences in growth rates are discussed. The data show the potential of 3D printing for enabling novel laboratory geochemical experiments.

Abstract:
Cette étude cherche à mettre en lumière les différents raisonnements qui conduisent à identifier une règle coutumière internationale sur le fondement de la convergence des pratiques conventionnelles internationales. Cette hypothèse a été expressément admise par la Commission du droit international en 2018 dans ses projets de conclusions sur la détermination du droit international coutumier. Elle a en effet considéré que « [l]e fait qu’une règle soit énoncée dans plusieurs traités peut signifier, sans toutefois que cela soit nécessairement le cas, que la règle conventionnelle reflète une règle de droit international coutumier » (Conclusion 11, al. 2). Pour mener à bien cette étude, deux aspects des règles coutumières ont été distingués : d’une part leur contenu, c’est-à-dire le comportement qu’elles prescrivent, et d’autre part leur force juridique, c’est-à-dire leur qualité de règles de droit. L’influence des dispositions conventionnelles est en effet différente dans les deux situations : en ce qui concerne la substance de la coutume, cette incidence est certaine mais varie suivant l’abstraction des énoncés conventionnels en cause. En revanche, en ce qui concerne la valeur juridique de la coutume, il est nécessaire de dépasser le principe de l’effet relatif des engagements conventionnels pour qu’ils puissent attester de l’existence d’une règle coutumière
This study seeks to highlight the different rationales which lead to the identification of an international customary rule on the basis of the convergence of international conventional practices. This assumption has been expressly accepted by the International Law Commission in 2018 in its draft conclusions on the determination of customary international law. It has held that "[t]he fact that a rule is set forth in a number of treaties may, but does not necessarily, indicate that the treaty rule reflects a rule of customary international law" (Conclusion 11, para. 2). To carry out this study, two aspects of customary rules are distinguished: on the one hand, their content, that is to say the behaviour they prescribe, and on the other hand, their legal bindingness, that is to say their quality of rules of law. The influence of conventional provisions is indeed different in these two situations: as regards the substance of the custom, this incidence is certain but varies according to the abstraction of the conventional statements in question. By contrast, as far as the legal value of custom is concerned, it is necessary to go beyond the principle of relative effects of conventional commitments so that they can attest to the existence of a customary rule

Abstract:
Until recently very little archaeology in Cusco has focused on pre-Inka periods. This article aims to mitigate this shortcoming by presenting the results of excavations and artifact analyses conducted between 2005 and 2009 at Yuthu, a Formative Period site (400-100 BC). We will (1) describe the architecture and archaeological features found in two sectors at Yuthu, emphasizing the stratigraphic order and absolute chronology of the principal contexts, and (2) present the results of analyses of pottery, stone tools, animal bones, and botanical remains. The villagers of Yuthu divided their settlement into domestic and ceremonial spaces. Furthermore, they were shepherds and farmers living within a regional political system that was part of an even wider trade network that extended into the jungle and into other parts of the Andean highlands.
La época preinka de la región Cusco ha sido poco estudiada hasta ahora. El presente artículo pretende contribuir a mitigar esta carencia respecto del Periodo Formativo de esta parte del Perú. Se exponen los resultados de las excavaciones y estudios arqueológicos realizados entre 2005 y 2009 en Yuthu, un sitio del Periodo Formativo Tardío (400-100 a.C.). Se describen las construcciones arquitectónicas y rasgos arqueológicos encontrados en dos sectores, con énfasis en el orden estratigráfico y la cronología absoluta de los contextos principales, y se presentan análisis de cerámica, objetos líticos, restos de fauna y flora. El texto demuestra que los pobladores de Yuthu ya tenían una división entre el espacio doméstico y ceremonial dentro de su comunidad. Además, fueron pastores y agricultores situados dentro de un sistema político regional que participaba en redes de intercambios más amplias que se extendieron hasta la selva y llegaron a otras regiones altoandinas.

Funerary Architecture and Contexts at Batan Urqu, CuscoThe site of Batan Urqu, located in the Huaro Valley, in the province of Quispicanchi, Cusco, was continuously occupied from the Formative Period until European contact. Excavations revealed that during the Middle Horizon a complex of funerary buildings and structures had been constructed within a rectangular area demarcated by a wall. Data recovered by the author from excavations of the Wari funerary complex between August and October of 1992 are provided. The architecture and spatial organization of funerary structures are described, as well as the position of individuals and associated objects. Finally, a series of observations regarding the general burial pattern is presented, and an interpretation of the cultural remains, currently being analyzed, is offered.
El sitio de Batan Urqu, ubicado en el valle de Huaro, provincia de Quispicanchis, Cusco, fue ocupado continuamente desde el periodo Formativo hasta la época del contacto europeo. Las excavaciones realizadas permitieron revelar que durante el Horizonte Medio se construyó un conjunto de edificios y estructuras de uso funerario en un espacio rectangular enmarcado por una muralla. Se proporcionan los datos obtenidos en las excavaciones en el complejo funerario wari llevadas a cabo por el autor entre agosto y octubre de 1992. Se describen la arquitectura y la organización espacial de las estructuras funerarias encontradas, posición de los individuos y los objetos asociados. Finalmente se ofrece una serie de observaciones sobre el patrón funerario y se proponen perspectivas para los análisis de vestigios culturales que en la actualidad se llevan a cabo.

Abstract:
Competition in the mobile services industry is intense, with players in the industry offering generally similar subscription plans. Opportunities are few for differentiating one service provider from another. In the light of prior research suggesting value is multi-dimensional, the present study, which examines how these dimensions impact customer satisfaction and repurchase intentions, provides differentiation opportunities for mobile service providers through focusing on value dimensions that are important to customers. Of six perceived value dimensions examined in the present research, value for money, reputation and social value dimensions had significant effects on customer satisfaction and repurchase intentions. One way for companies in the highly commoditized mobile service industry to minimize customer defection is to enhance their relationships with customers. However, as relationship building comes with a cost, it is of interest for companies to know whether certain customer groups will reciprocate more than others with loyalty if they are satisfied. The results from the present study show customer relationship inclination, the customer attribute examined, did not moderate the relationship between customer satisfaction and repurchase intention. Finally, recent studies have differentiated measures of repurchase intentions on the basis of volition levels and have suggested that better model fit can be achieved when higher volition measures are used. Intentions-as-expectations represents the lower volition end and intentions-as-wants represents the higher volition end of intention measure. However, the present study did not find any significant differences in model fit with the different intention measures used.

Abstract:
By comparison with its secular counterpart, the liturgy of English medieval monasteries has received little attention. This thesis explores one aspect of the liturgy of some of the wealthiest and most influential foundations in England - the Benedictine houses. It covers the formation and proliferation of 'votive' observances, recited as additions to or replacements for the major calendar observances. Evidence is drawn from over fifty manuscripts, dating from the Benedictine reform of the tenth century to the eve of the Dissolution in the sixteenth century. Some thirty monasteries are represented, with particular reference to the practices of Winchester, St Albans, Worcester and St Mary's, York. Part One examines the precedent for appended observances in The Rule of St Benedict (c.540), and the interpretation of this document by the Carolingian reformer Benedict of Aniane (c.750-821). Votive practices in the first English monastic customary, Regularis Concordia (c.970), and other devotional sources of a similar date are analysed. Part Two deals with the proliferation of three major observances after the Conquest - the daily votive office, recited as an appendage to the regular hours, the weekly commemorative office, which served as a replacement for the ferial office, and the independent antiphon (in particular Salve regina), recited or sung after Compline. The structure, adoption and devotional characteristics of each observance are examined, with particular reference to the predominantly Marian bias of much of the repertory. The second volume contains liturgical texts and related analytical tables, a descriptive catalogue of sources, transcriptions of Marian antiphons from the Worcester Antiphoner (c. 1230) and a comparison of eight versions of Salve regina.

Abstract:
At least three poorly soluble compounds can be formed in the CuSO4 – K4P2O7 – H2O system: a single salt Cu2P2O7.5H2O and two dimorph’s both having chemical formula Cu3K2(P2O7)2.3H2O. A previously known form of Cu3K2(P2O7)2.3H2O (we named it Dimorph A) transforms into a novel Dimorph B, which has a different structure. The similarities between the XRD patterns and vibrations spectra of copper–ammonium and copper–potassium Dimorph’s B imply that they are isostructural. The values of the angle for copper–potassium and copper–ammonium salts and Cu2P2O7.5H2O are relatively low and vary within a narrow range (123.1 – 127.1°). The formation of the compounds significantly depends on the conditions of the experiment. A double salt in the CuSO4 – K4P2O7 – H2O system may be formed after some time in the reaction mixture as a result of the following heterogeneous reaction: 3Cu2P2O7∙5H2O↓ + H2P2O72– + 4K+ → 2Cu3K2(P2O7)2∙3H2O↓ + 2H+ + 9H2O This reaction has not been previously described for any polyphosphate system. Therefore, novel results of scientific investigation are presented. The rate, duration and yield of heterogeneous reaction substantially depend on pH of the solution, [Cu2+ + P2O74–] and n ([P2O74–] / [Cu2+]). At a relatively low pH the induction time is high, the reaction rate is low and duration is long. The maximal yields close to 100% can be achieved when [Cu2+ + P2O74–] = 0.1 M. Naudojant IR-spektrometrijos, rentgenofazinės analizės, atominės absorbcinės spektroskopijos, kolorimetrijos analizės metodus buvo ištirta sistemose CuSO4 – K4P2O7 – H2O ir CuSO4 – (NH4)4P2O7 – H2O susidarančių mažai tirpių junginių sudėtis, jų susidarymo dėsningumai ir vykstančios reakcijos, įvairių veiksnių įtaką nuosėdų sudėčiai ir struktūrai. Nustatyta, kad sistemoje CuSO4 – K4P2O7 – H2O, be jau žinomų mažai tirpių junginių (paprastosios druskos Cu2P2O7 ∙ 5H2O ir dvigubosios druskos Cu3K2(P2O7)2 ∙ 3H2O), susidaro ir naujas mokslinėje literatūroje neaprašytas junginys (Dimorfas B), dvigubajai druskai patiriant polimorfinį perėjimą. Polimorfinio perėjimo trukmė labai priklauso nuo pH ir reaguojančių jonų koncentracijų. FTIR duomenų analizė parodė, kad difosfato jonų energetinė būsena Cu – K ir Cu – NH4 Dimorfuose B panaši. Jų rentgenogramos yra panašios, tikėtina, kad šie junginiai – izostruktūriniai, jų kristalinės gardelės tipas – monoklininis. Naudojant Lazarevo lygtį, bei Rulmonto priklausomybę buvo apskaičiuoti Cu – K ir Cu – NH4 Dimorfų A ir B bei paprastosios druskos P – O – P kampai, gauta, kad jie mažai keičiasi siaurame 123,1 – 127,1 º intervale. Nustatyta, kad dviguboji druska susidaro iš paprastosios, vykstant heterogeninei reakcijai: 3Cu2P2O7 ∙ 5H2O↓ + H2P2O72– + 4K+ → 2Cu3K2(P2O7)2∙ 3H2O↓ + 2H++ 9H2O. Mokslinėje literatūroje tokia reakcija neaprašyta jokiai difosfatų sistemai, jos tyrimo duomenys yra nauji. Taip pat nustatyta, kad heterogeninės reakcijos... [toliau žr. visą tekstą]

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this thesis is to develop a holistic understanding of customers’ value perceptions and experiences within the online apparel industry. In doing so, the authors’ hope to develop managerial guidelines for companies to utilize. This will be done with a customerdominant logic approach. Design/Methodology/Approach As the study aims to understand behavior and perceptions, the authors have used an inductive, qualitative method to gain the deepest possible customer insight. By using a case study, the authors have been able to further understand the given context. Using focus group interviews resonated in the authors aim to understand why the participants reasoned as they did, as they would in a focus group session argue for their standpoint. The interview template was influenced by the theories on value formation within customer-dominant logic. Findings This study strengthens the relevance of CD logic empirically and provides a deeper understanding of customers’ value perceptions and the reasons behind them. Functional elements of value were proven to be important, yet it was the values derived of emotional and life-changing elements that created true value. Based on the findings of this study, the authors have proposed a new term, true value, which refers to a state-of-mind in which a person finds in psychological well-being through the experiences derived from a product or service. Furthermore this study highlights social media’s importance within the given context. Originality/Value Previous research on customer-dominant logic has mainly been on a theoretical level. This research contributes to service research by studying the phenomena through empirical research within the online apparel industry. Furthermore, this research develops managerial guidelines for companies applying customer-dominant logic within the given context. Research Implications/Limitations Awareness of the importance of social media within the online apparel industry can provide insight and assist businesses in shaping marketing strategies. This research was limited by time, demographical group and geographical location. Furthermore, the generalizability of the results is limited to the given context.

Abstract:
[Truncated abstract] Molokans are a Russian sectarian community that has been a transnational diasporic community since their exile from southern Russia in 1839. During the 1839 exodus they were relocated to Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. These countries make up a region referred to by Molokans as Transcaucasia located in and around the Caucasus Mountains. A further migration to Turkmenistan followed in 1889. Since that time, Molokans have settled in Iran, the United States of America, Mexico, Australia and Brazil. The colonies in Brazil and Mexico have disbanded with members re-joining Molokan communities in the United States of America and Australia. The communities remain in contact with one another and with various Molokan communities still existing in the Russian Soviet Socialist Federal Republic. Molokans are characterised by a religious structure of lay ministers and elders in a traditional, patriarchal social community. They are a collectivity of churches (there is no hierarchy between the churches) and sub-groups who practise varying degrees of adherence to Molokan dogma. They are a millenarian, charismatic religious community similar to Pentecostals and Anabaptists with the exception that they have ceased to evangelise and have become ‘closed’ communities practising endogamy. Given their closed structure, relatively little is known about this group in mainstream society . . . Spirituality, in the form of prophecy, healing, and the shared expression of religious ecstasy (rejoicing in the Holy Spirit) provides a sense of communitas that helps to bind the communities. Persecution in Russia and in the United States of America promoted mistrust of outsiders and contributed to the closure of social boundaries. Interventionist and reform activities in both Russia and the United States of America reinforced the belief that social closure was the only way to maintain cultural continuity. Their shared history of migration and persecution contributes to the building of a core community identity.

Abstract:
It is widely acknowledged that value can be regarded as interactively formed by customers through the integration of a variety of resources. However, it is difficult to find service research that takes these concepts seriously in empirical studies. Consequently, the aim of this thesis is to present an empirically grounded understanding of how customer resource integration takes place in practice and how customers experience their resource integration. By collecting data of public transport customers through qualitative diaries, interviews, and video recordings of situated action in addition to a survey, the thesis draws on script and practice theory. The main contribution of the thesis is an empirically grounded model of customer experience of resource integration, which can be summarized in six propositions: (a) customers can acquire four different types of scripts: generic, incongruent, rigid, or transformative; (b) the script types are implicit parts of interactive value practices, which emerge as navigating and ticketing in the empirical context of public transport; (c) the interactive value practices are constellations of the resource integration activities of identifying, sense-making, and using, which customers focus on to varying extents, depending on their acquired script; (d) during or after interactive value formation customers potentially update their scripts; (e) customer processes, other customers, the physical environment, contact personnel, provider processes, and the wider environment all form the context of the service, but can also be resources that the customer integrates; and (f) the customer experience is a holistic evaluation of the interactive value formation and can be understood as consisting of three dimensions: a cognitive evaluation and two affective evaluations, positive activation and positive deactivation. As such, I reframe the notion of the servicescape in order for it to be more attuned to the perspective of interactive value formation and resource integration.

Abstract:
This thesis addresses the contested and poorly defined subject area of cultural iconicity. Careful consideration of three specific uses of the term - in the popular media, as a new way of articulating national identity, and in academic publications - reveals the extent to which the term is currently poorly comprehended and misapplied. The research proposes the introduction of tighter defining parameters to cultural iconography and presents an original definition against existing work in the field. The main aim, therefore, is straightforward; to attempt to answer the general question, what are cultural icons? To meet this end a definition of iconicity will be proposed consisting of four inter-connected conditions comprising, a) distinctness of image, b) durability of image, c) reproducibility of image and d) the tragic-dramatic narrative inherent in the image. The decision to implement such a definition is supported by a range of theoretical influences, from the ideas on perception developed by the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, to recent work on the dramatic impact of tele-visual images. The philosophical influence applies the idea that human perception is strongly drawn towards tragic-dramatic forms - the tragic-dramatic narrative of cultural icons being an essential component of the definition - while new research into how images impact on common memory supports this application. The method adopted attacks the central question in three ways. Firstly, by applying throughout the work an original and practical working definition of cultural iconicity. Secondly, by differentiating the properties of primary cultural icons from other important cultural symbols (as in, for example, comparing cultural icons to photographic iconography and non-image based cultural myths). Third, a series of in-depth case studies applying the definition to real examples, which will be the crux of the project and, if successful, may prove not only an original contribution to knowledge in this new and exciting area of research, but should also appeal to a wider, non-academic readership.

ICA AB is Sweden’s largest retail and wholesale firm, a cooperation of retail proprietors. Here it is studied as the nation’s largest media firm. It is the largest advertiser, the largest publisher of consumer magazines, and plausibly the most advanced user of household shopping data for marketing purposes. ICA’s marketing media system is operated by a constellation of different professional groups, and the study at hand asks questions about how practitioners in different professional communities relate to the idea of value and value creation, how their social practices pushes them towards divergent understandings and priorities, and what such differences do to their opportunities to collaborate within ICA’s marketing processes. We are all ‘practitioners’ in the sense that we go about our daily lives conducting various practices that create value for ourselves and for others. We act in routinized fashions surrounded by social codes that guides us in how to combine and integrate tools, skills and products in different combinations. Since they seem to capture the very purpose of marketing, ‘value’ and ‘value creation’ are concepts which long have been central to the academic debate. However, if our value-creating practices are guided by social codes, this has consequences for marketers and marketing that has been largely left aside in the mainstream marketing theory. Over two years, 2007-2008, through qualitative interviewing and participant observation, the study follows ICA’s marketing communications process and some of its most central practitioners – marketing managers, media agency specialists, editorial staff, and TV network sales representatives. It describes their involvement in TV advertising campaigns, in the customer magazine Buffé, and in the introduction of mass-customized direct marketing in the project Mina varor. Combining some of the most widely cited marketing theories on value creation with a sociological view on activity forwarded by Practice Theory, this thesis suggests that value is best seen as being formed along two intertwined processes – value creation which is the process of physical activity, and value construction which is a social process of understanding what is to be regarded valuable. The findings provide firstly a detailed mapping of how practitioners articulate marketing communications value, what aspects they emphasize, and how they interpret the objective of their practices. Secondly, the study links the articulations of value to 16 value-forming marketing communications practices. Marketing managers, media agency specialists, editorial staff, and TV network sales representatives are all described as acting according to a ‘practical logic’ of their respective professional communities. These logics combine practices for marketing communications production, for mutual interaction, and for valuation of processes, products and outcomes. The benefits of coordination and collaboration have been forwarded in marketing (relationships and networks) and marketing communications (integrated marketing communications) literature over the past decades. The concluding discussion concerns how and to which extent practical logics can be altered, changed, or aligned towards mutually rewarding goals. In other words, how can two parties work together if they have divergent understandings of value, and conversely how can two parties learn to understand value by working together? It thereby puts focus on marketing communications management, and contrary to many textbooks in the field, this study does not describe marketing communications as a de-humanized instrument in the marketer’s toolbox, but as a challenge of coordinating practitioners, practices, and understandings.

A e-lealdade do cliente tem vindo a ganhar um maior interesse por parte dos retalhistas online, na media em que estes se começam a aperceber da importância da lealdade como um meio de rentabilidade e de competitividade no comércio online. Por esta razão existe a necessidade de estudar e de compreender a fundo os antecedentes/atributos que contribuem mais para a criação de lealdade. Atendendo a esta necessidade emergente, este estudo analisa a fundo o atributo "order fulfillment" no que diz respeito ao seu impacto na lealdade do cliente para retalhistas puros, ou seja retalhistas online que não têm loja física. Desta forma nós analisamos, através do modelo conceptual, como é que as dimensões da "order fulfillment" ("timeliness", disponibilidade e condição) impactam diferenciadamente as dimensões da e-lealdade do cliente (retenção, extensão e referências). Para testar o modelo conceptual, usou-se 53 respostas adquiridas de respondentes online, aos quais foi pedido que preenchem-se um questionário. Os resultados obtidos mostram que as dimensões da "order fulfillment" têm uma relação positiva exclusiva de um para um no que diz respeito às dimensões da e-lealdade do cliente. Isto vai contra o que se esperava, desmistificando um pouco os resultados controversos, que a literatura tem visto. Isto também permite dar alguma introspeção inicial para os retalhistas puros, naquelas que poderão ser as melhores estratégias a adotar de forma a rentabilizarem e melhorar as dimensões da e-lealdade do cliente.
Customer e-loyalty has come to gain more and more interest from online retailers as these begin to realize the importance of loyalty as a profitability and competitive standard in the online commerce, also known as ecommerce. For this reason there is a need to study and deeply understand which antecedents/attributes contribute more to the formation of loyalty. Attending to this growing need, this study deeply analyzes the order fulfillment attribute in regards to its impact on customer loyalty towards pure players, or in other words online retailers without any up front store presence. This way we analyze, through a conceptual model, how the dimensions of order fulfillment (timeliness, availability and condition) can vary in its impact towards the dimensions of customer e-loyalty (retention, extension and referrals). To test the conceptual model, 53 responses were used acquired from online respondents, in which they were asked to fill in a survey. The obtained results show that the order fulfillment dimensions have an exclusive positive relation of one to one in regards to the customer e-loyalty dimensions. This is contrary to what was expected, demystifying a little the controversy results, the literature has seen. This also allowed to give some initial insight to pure players on the best strategies to adopt in order to improve and capitalize the customer e-loyalty dimensions.

Este projeto foi realizado numa empresa de produtos alimentares, nomeadamente numa fábrica de embalamento de massas e passou pela redução e otimização de mudanças de formato, com o recurso à metodologia Single Minute Exchage of Die (SMED). Esta ferramenta, alinhada aos principais objetivos da filosofia lean, tem como objetivo eliminar desperdícios, diminuir custos e por sua vez beneficiar o cliente final. Esta metodologia sugere a realização de alguns passos sempre com o intuito de diminuir os tempos em que as máquinas estão paradas para mudança entre diferentes produtos.
In order to ensure a sustainable growth companies are forced to reduce costs and achieve increasingly efficient processes. Within the framework of continuous improvement, arises the need of initiating with a project that ensures the implementation of more efficient processes of change of formats, in order to minimize the time spent and in turn eliminate wastes intrinsic to these operations. This project was carried out in a company of food products, namely in a pasta packaging factory and passed by the reduction and optimization of changing formats, with the use of Single Minute Exchage of Die methodology (SMED). This tool, in line with the main objectives of the lean philosophy, aims to eliminate waste, reduce costs, and in turn benefit the customer. This methodology suggests some steps in order to reduce the time in which the machines are not working to change between different products.

This dissertation examines how customers' attribution for service failures and expected recovery in online service encounters are influenced by whether the recovery efforts are satisfying or dissatisfying to the customers; the relationship between satisfaction and other behavioral outcomes such as intention to remain and word-of mouth is examined. Many customers are using the Internet to purchase products and services, pay bills online, and make hotel and airline reservations. The Internet service recovery encounter warrants special attention because of its inherent ramifications such as the ease of attributing failure to the service provider after a service failure, the lack of interpersonal relationship, and the ease of leaving one service provider for another. The purpose of this study is to explore some of the importance of Internet service recovery mechanisms relative to customer's attribution for failure, expected service recovery, satisfaction, and intent to remain. This study further seek to explore how these mechanisms can be employed by the service providers to improve customer satisfaction, minimize negative word-of-mouth, and improve the firm's profitability. Many studies have examined customer satisfaction/dissatisfaction in traditional retailing, and the antecedents of the unsatisfactory behavior however, the same cannot be said of the Internet service encounters despite ecommerce revolution and its impacts on retailing and service encounters. A conceptual framework of recovery expectation and satisfaction in Internet based service encounters is presented, and a scenario-based experimental design is developed to measure the constructs. A web-based data collection was employed and the collected data were analyzed using correlation and regression analysis to provide answers to the research questions. The results of the analyzed data were discussed and presented. The findings overwhelmingly support all the hypotheses and contribute to the field of marketing by exploring some issues that might be unique to the online shopping experience and add more to the body of literature on online service failure and recovery management. The managerial implications, limitations, and future research directions are also presented.

Abstract:
This thesis presents two classes of models of boundedly rational decision makers - one with application to finance and the other to pricing. It consists of three parts. The first part of the thesis investigates the impact of investors' boundedly rational forecasting on asset price bubbles. We present a class of models, called extrapolation-correction models, of boundedly rational investor behavior. That is, the investors in our model, quite reasonably, use data available to them, i.e. past price data, to form forecasts about future prices. We relate the model parameters to various behavioral aspects like investor memory, caution/confidence, and panic. We present the resulting dynamical system model of asset price bubbles and relate the behavior of the dynamical system to the parameters capturing investor forecasting behavior. We show that, depending on the behavioral parameters, the associated dynamical system can converge to the fundamental value, go into predictable price cycles, or go into unpredictable price cycles. In particular, we find that the greater the weight investors' forecasts put on the most recent observations, the greater the tendency for the asset prices to exhibit cycles, forming positive and negative bubbles. We also find that when forecasts are strongly affected by recent prices, the price process becomes chaotic and it becomes increasingly difficult to forecast future prices accurately. The second part of the thesis addresses the question: How do investors make their price forecasts? We present the design of an experiment where investors participate in a virtual asset market run over a computer network. During the course of the experiment, the participants report their price forecasts and enter buy and sell orders. The computer software determines the market clearing prices. Despite full disclosure of the assets' dividends and the fundamental value, the price trajectories in all three experimental sessions exhibited cycles. We calibrated various models, including rational expectations based models and the extrapolation-correction family of models presented in the first part of the thesis. The results indicate that rational expectations hypothesis does not provide an accurate model of forecast formation. Moreover, a simple one-parameter exponential smoothing model is much better at modeling forecast formation, with the extrapolation-correction models making the fit slightly better. The third part of the thesis explores a different aspect of customer rationality - that of customer impatience - and its effect on pricing of product versions. We consider a setting in which impatient customers are faced with frequent product introductions, for example, products like Apple iPhones. This raises the following questions regarding customers: Given the pricing strategy of the firm, what are the optimal buying behaviors of the customers? How does customer buying behavior change in relation to impatience? We consider two settings. In the first setting, the firm offers a trade-in price for existing customers and a higher full price for new customers. In the second setting, the firm offers the same prices to new and existing customers, however there is an introductory full price and a discounted price later in the product cycle. We model the customer's problem in these two settings and characterize their optimal actions as a function of the price parameters. We also analyze the bilevel program for the firm's pricing decisions. We see that in both settings considered there are certain well-defined regions in the price space wherein the firm's optimal decision lies. We also provide some numerical computations to study the behavior of the optimal prices as the cost per unit increases.

O presente trabalho tem por objetivo estudar a trajetória do crédito rural dos anos 60 até os dias de hoje, a fim de compreender a escassez de crédito do sistema atual, e as novas propostas em questão sob o enfoque dos modelos de competição imperfeita e assimetria de informação nos mercados de crédito. A natureza deste trabalho é essencialmente analítica, de forma que não foi estabelecido nenhum modelo empírico de teste e análise dos dados apresentados. Por outro lado, foi realizada uma revisão de literatura do crédito rural no Brasil e, também, uma revisão da literatura de teoria econômica sobre mercados de crédito ao longo dos últimos 20 anos. A falta de recursos do sistema tradicional de financiamento da agricultura é uma forte evidência do esgotamento do modelo tradicional. São vários os entraves para um novo sistema de financiamento, entre eles: uma legislação muito pouco adequada (que acaba por dificultar a concessão de empréstimos), o forte endividamento dos agricultores, os altos custos bancários de transação para concessão de empréstimos, a assimetria de informação no mercado e, no contexto macroeconômico, as altas taxas de juros praticadas na economia brasileira. A CPR (Cédula do Produto Rural), e o mecanismo de equalizações são importantes instrumentos em uma fase de transição de um sistema basicamente sustentado pelo Estado para um sistema cujos recursos sejam, em grande parte, gerados pelo mercado.
The present work has for objective to study the path of the agricultural credit for the 60th until the present in order to understand the scarcity of credit in the current system, and the new proposals in question under the approach of the models of imperfect competition and asymmetry of information in the credit markets. The nature of this work is essentially analytical. In this context, it was not established and tested a empirical model or analysis of the data presented here. On the other hand, it was carried through a literature review about the agricultural credit in Brazil and the economic theory on markets of credit to the long one of last the 20 years. The lack of features in the traditional system of agriculture financing is one strong evidence of the debility of the traditional model. There are several impediments for a new system of financing, as: a smaller adjusted legislation (that results in difficulting the concession of loans), the strong indebtedness of the agriculturists, the high banking transaction costs for concession of loans, the asymmetry of information in the market and, in the macroeconomic context, the high taxes of interests practised in the Brazilian economy. The CPR (Cédula do Produto Rural), and the mechanisms of equalization are important instruments in the transition of a system supported basically by the State to a system whose features are, to a large extent, generated for the market.

Esta dissertação de mestrado investiga os formatos de modulação óptica alternativos ao tradicional formato binário de intensidade (NRZ - Non-return-to-zero), ditos avançados, como tecnologia chave para atender às exigências do mercado atual de telecomunicações por transporte de grande volume de dados e alta largura de banda, associados com a redução do custo da informação transmitida por bit. Os formatos avançados de modulação óptica fazem parte das tecnologias que estão sendo investigadas intensamente com o objetivo de superar os desafios impostos pela nova geração de sistemas ópticos com taxas a partir de 40 Gb/s. Este trabalho focaliza o estudo dessa tecnologia, apresentando uma visão geral dos formatos mais discutidos atualmente, suas características e tecnologias de implementação. Foram realizadas simulações utilizando o software comercial Optisystem versão 7.0 da empresa canadense Optiwave Systems Inc., para analisar o desempenho de alguns formatos de modulação de intensidade e de fase com respeito à sensibilidade do receptor, resistência ao cascateamento de filtragem óptica e a efeitos dispersivos e não-lineares. Procurou-se avaliar os formatos em enlaces reais, com características necessárias à sua possível utilização. Também é feita uma breve consideração dos custos associados aos formatos de modulação analisados neste trabalho. Dentre os formatos analisados, os RZ (Return-to zero) apresentaram maior sensibilidade do receptor e melhor tolerância aos efeitos não-lineares que os seus equivalentes NRZ, porém baixa tolerância aos efeitos dispersivos e ao cascateamento de filtragem óptica. O formato duobinário mostrou fraco desempenho de sensibilidade, mas provou ser o mais tolerante à dispersão cromática e à concatenação de filtragem óptica. Os formatos de modulação de fase mostraram ser bem resistentes aos efeitos não-lineares e aos efeitos dispersivos.
This MSc thesis investigates optical modulation formats as an alternative to the use of the traditional intensity binary format NRZ (Non-return-to-zero). Those formats, classified as advanced, represent one of the key technologies aimed to enable the high data volume and broadband, demanded by the present telecommunication market, with cost reduction of transmitted information per bit. Those technologies have been intensevely studied with purpose of overcoming the challenges imposed by the new generation of optical systems, with bit rates from 40 Gb/s. This work focuses on the study of modulation formats most discussed currently, presenting an overview of their main characteristics and implementation techniques. The performance of some intensity and phase formats, in terms of receiver sensitivity, optical filtering cascading, dispersion and nonlinear effects robustness, have been theoretically analyzed from simulations carried out with the commercial software Optisystem v. 7.0, of the Canadian company Optiwave Systems Inc. The analysis has been applied to real optical links, with characteristics that, potentially, demand their use. A cost analysis, based on estimated values associated to devices required for implementing the formats investigated in this work, is also presented. Among the formats studied, those based on RZ (Return-to zero) presented the highest receiver sensitivity and best tolerance to nonlinear effects, in comparison to their equivalent formats, based on NRZ. However, they are less tolerant to dispersive effects and optical filtering cascading. The duobinary format (DB) has shown a weak performance in terms of sensitivity, though has been proved to be the most tolerant to chromatic dispersion and filtering cascading effects. Among all formats, the phase modulation ones presented the highest resistance against nonlinear and dispersive effects.

Este trabalho estuda a formação do preço de venda de serviços a partir de seu custo de produção, com enfoque nos serviços prestados pela autoridade municipal, buscando formular uma proposta de precificação de serviços capaz de auxiliar o gestor público em sua tomada de decisão. A proposta foi construída a partir do estudo de três áreas distintas: gestão de custos, contabilidade governamental e orçamento público municipal, onde foram obtidos os elementos necessários para seu desenvolvimento e formulação. A identificação e avaliação dos processos envolvidos na apuração do custo do serviço prestado pelo município, notadamente o serviço prestado pela Guarda Municipal de São Carlos, estado de São Paulo, foi a base para a elaboração de uma proposta de modelo de precificação do serviço prestado. A lei de responsabilidade fiscal, de maio de 2000, veio aumentar a responsabilidade do gestor público e, por conseqüência, a influência do preço dos serviços no equilíbrio das contas públicas. O método utilizado neste estudo assumiu caráter exploratório em vista da existência de pouco conhecimento sistematizado sobre o tema, como pode ser constatado pela pesquisa bibliográfica, havendo a necessidade de se adotar abordagem de busca de maior detalhamento nos relatórios de realização de despesas emitidos pela autoridade municipal. As principais conclusões desta pesquisa apontam para a grande influência do custo com mão-de-obra na formação do valor do serviço público estudado e nos conceitos de apuração de custo incorporados ao modelo apresentado, que foram os seguintes: tratamento diferenciado entre as despesas correntes e as despesas com capital no que se refere ao período de reconhecimento do custo incorrido; controle e apropriação da despesa com depreciação ao longo da vida útil das obras, instalações e materiais permanentes; separação e controle das despesas correntes em administrativas e operacionais; distribuição das despesas administrativas e controle dos custos operacionais agrupados de forma a se obter o custo independente do valor de venda do serviço.
This paper studies the services final selling price based on production cost focusing on the services made from the municipal authority searching for a proposal of the services price formation allowing the public manager taking the decision. This proposal was built up from the study of 3 different areas: cost management, governmental accountancy and municipal budget where we can have the necessary figures for its development and formulation. The identification and evaluation of the processes involved on the cost verification of the service given by the municipality mainly the one by São Carlos city municipal guard, state of São Paulo, was the basis to work up on a model proposal of the final price composition of the rendered service. The fiscal responsibility law from may, 2000 came to raise up the public manager responsibility and as a corollary to this, they exercise influence upon the services prices on the public account equilibrium. The method we use in this study has an exploratory feature upon the few knowledge of this subject, as you can see at the bibliographic research, then we need to adopt an approach to get more details at the expenses reports issued by the municipal authority. The main conclusions of this study pointed to the great influence of labor cost at the public service cost composition and the concepts of the cost verification that incorporated to the presented model, as follows: distinguished treatment between the current expenses and the expenses with the resources at the period of the cost we ran into; expenses appropriation and control with depreciation during the lifetime of the jobs, installations and permanents goods; to distinguish the expenses and its control in administrative and operational; administrative expenses distribution and operational costs control joined together to get the independent cost of the final selling service price.

Les cristaux liquides nématiques ancrés constituent un milieu propice à l'étude de la propagation non linéaire des faisceaux lumineux - que ce soit en termes d'études fondamentales ou plus appliquées comme le routage de l'information. Ce sont des milieux plus complexes que les systèmes "modèles" usuellement abordés (type équation de Schrödinger non linéaire) pour étudier les comportements non linéaires. En effet, la non-linéarité a une réponse non locale et est beaucoup plus lente que le temps d'évolution de l'onde. Enfin, le milieu est stochastique.Dans ce cadre, cette thèse étudie l'influence de la non-localité sur les singularités d'ondes obtenues lors de la propagation d'un paquet d'ondes optiques dans un cristal liquide nématique. C'est un travail expérimental et numérique. Nous montrons que le type de singularité obtenu est complètement régi par le taux de non-localité du système,- en régime fortement non local, une structure localisée, connue sous le nom de "nematicon", présente un profil d'intensité ultra-piqué (type "point de rebroussement") avec une trajectoire constamment fluctuante- en régime faiblement non local, le paquet d'ondes subit toujours un phénomène de type "effondrement d'ondes". Il est accompagné d'un auto-raidissement de l'enveloppe du paquet d'ondes et d'un profil en double exponentielle au point de compression.Enfin, nous mettons en évidence la présence d'ondes de chocs diffractives dans notre système en appliquant une condition initiale possédant une discontinuité (demi-faisceau Gaussien). Anchored nematic liquid crystals is a suitable medium and an excellent playground for nonlinear beam propagation studies - for fundamental as well as for applied studies such as optical routing. They are more complex systems than the "ideal" ones that are usually referred to investigate nonlinear phenomena (such as the nonlinear Schrödinger equation). Indeed, our nonlinearity is characterized by a nonlocal response and its response time is much slower than that of the wave. At last, the medium is stochastic.In this context, this thesis deals with the effects of non locality on wave singularities that occur during the propagation of optical wave packets in nematic liquid crystals. The studies are experimental and numerical.We show that the type of singularity that emerges is completely driven by the amount of non locality,• for the highly nonlocal regime, a localized state, known as "nematicon" exhibits an ultra-sharp intensity profile (cusp like) with a continuously fluctuating trajectory.• for the weakly nonlocal regime, the wave packet is always subject to a collapse-like phenomenon. Its envelope self-steepens and its profile depicts an exponential shape where the beam is the most focused.Finally, we evidence diffractive shock waves thanks to an initial condition displaying a discontinuity (half Gaussian beam). This is the first experimental evidence of such phenomenon in a focusing non local and stochastic medium

Este trabalho procura auxiliar determinadas ferramentas da Gestão da Qualidade e alguns procedimentos em Engenharia de Produção. Baseado no desafio e na competitividade industrial que é estimulado pela evolução contínua de novas tecnologias, que busca o desenvolvimento e inovação constante de softwares aplicativos. Utilizando-se de técnicas tradicionais de apuração de custos de produção para garantir a lucratividade e qualidade de fabricação, procedeu-se ao estudo e ao entendimento de processos de fabricação e o desenvolvimento do sistema computacional, com a finalidade de armazenar dados e informações, para apurar o custo real de fabricação e poder determinar, com agilidade e precisão, preços de venda competitivos. O principal problema identificado diz respeito às decisões questionáveis na questão da formação de preços de venda de produtos, a partir da sua produção, que são tomadas através de dados e informações históricas de custos de fabricação coletadas informalmente e sem critérios específicos. This work tries to aid certain tools of the Administration of the Quality and some procedures in Engineering of Production. Based on the challenge and in the industrial competitiveness that is stimulated by the continuous evolution of new technologies, that looks for the development and constant innovation of softwares applications. Being used of traditional techniques of examination of costs production to guarantee the quality of lucrativity and production, it was proceeded to the study and the understanding of production processes and the development of the computacional system, with the purpose of storing data and information, to hurry the real cost of production and to determine, with agility and precision, competitive sale prices. The main identified problem says respect to the questionable decisions in the subject of the formation of prices of sale of products, starting from its production, that are taken through data and historical information of costs of production collected informally and without specific approaches. In that way, it is justified the informatization and automation of the procedures of control of costings, as I benefit the manufacture companies, minimizing the examination effort and the propagation of mistakes in calculations for the prices composition . O óleo de palma, também conhecido como óleo de dendé, azeite de dendé ou até azeite de palma, comummente usado para fins alimentares, industriais e não só, é um produto extraído dos frutos da palmeira, das regiões tropicais húmidas, em que se reúnem condições climáticas para a sua plantação e exploração, como é o caso de São Tomé e Príncipe (STP), constituindo a sua produção, quer tradicional quer industrial, uma fonte potencial de valorização dos recursos e diversificação das exportações, de criação de riqueza e de bem-estar, e desenvolvimento das suas populações. Atualmente, o mercado de óleo alimentar é abastecido pelo óleo de palma produzido de forma tradicional, pelas famílias que se envolvem nesta prática, de forma agroindustrial, retomada recentemente pela Agripalma, e através da importação de outros tipos de óleos alimentares. O crescimento populacional e a diminuição da produção doméstica de óleo de palma, no início da década passada, levou a um aumento considerável da importação de outros tipos de óleos alimentares, com uma consequente alteração dos padrões de consumo e gostos dos consumidores. Por isso, importou estudar e avaliar a competitividade da produção de óleo de palma em STP e de seguida, investigar como melhorar a competitividade da fileira do óleo de palma face à concorrência de óleos alimentares importados. Assim, numa primeira fase, caracterizou-se o agronegócio do óleo alimentar em STP, fundamentalmente com base em dados secundários. Em seguida, a segunda fase fundamental do trabalho, consistiu, com base em dados primários obtidos por inquérito, na caracterização da fileira do óleo de palma a fim de identificar as principais fases e operações levadas a cabo por cada um dos agentes participantes na cadeia e dos custos das mesmas, bem como dos preços que se formam em cada uma das fases e, portanto, das margens que se obtêm nos canais de comercialização dos sistemas tradicional e industrial. Numa terceira fase, procedeu-se à comparação dos preços de óleo de palma com os preços de óleos alimentares importados, uma vez que em termos de consumo constituem bens substitutos quase perfeitos. Na quarta e última fase, fez-se a análise, discussão e apresentação de propostas e recomendações para as políticas públicas que podem contribuir para a dinamização e o desenvolvimento da cadeia de valor em STP. A cadeia de produção tradicional do óleo de palma em STP é constituída por produtores de pinha de andim, transformadores de pinha em óleo de palma e vendedores a retalho que agregam valor nas fases da produção, transformação e comercialização, respetivamente. Os valores obtidos para a retribuição dos fatores próprios, a receita familiar ou rendimento dos produtores, transformadores e vendedores a retalho são positivos, indicando uma retribuição para o trabalho familiar um pouco abaixo até valores acima do valor do mercado, ou seja, do seu custo de oportunidade, consoante as fases da cadeia em que intervêm nos canais longo, intermédio e curto. Assim, o sistema tradicional para além de garantir produção para auto-consumo, constitui uma receita para a formação do rendimento das famílias que se dedicam à produção, transformação e venda a retalho do óleo de palma. No sistema agro-industrial, para o canal curto ou de exportação foi apurado um resultado líquido ligeiramente negativo no primeiro semestre de operação da empresa Agripalma, porque a produção real ficou abaixo da prevista, e uma margem positiva e relativamente elevada no canal intermédio ou doméstico, pelo que, aos níveis de produção agroindustrial previstos, haverá vantagem económica para ambos os canais deste sistema. Concluiu-se, também, que os custos e o preço do óleo de palma de produção tradicional são maiores do que o do óleo de palma industrial e dos óleos alimentares importados. Os níveis de produção baixos, o potencial de qualidade, as características organoléticas e a tipicidade parecem assegurar o prémio de preço do óleo de palma de produção tradicional. Quanto ao óleo de palma industrial, o seu custo de exportação, mesmo considerando custos elevados de assistência técnica e propriedade industrial e do contexto de mercado do primeiro semestre do corrente ano, é competitivo aos preços internacionais, e o seu preço doméstico é mais baixo do que o preço dos óleos importados, pelo que é competitivo no mercado doméstico. Assim, ambos os sistemas da cadeia de valor de óleo de palma podem constituir um fator de valorização dos recursos naturais, nomeadamente da terra e das plantações de palmeira, das matérias primas por elas produzidas, a pinha de andim, e do trabalho dos produtores, transformadores e vendedores envolvidos na cadeia de valor do óleo de palma produzido localmente. Para promover a competitividade da cadeia de valor foram ainda sugeridas medidas de apoio ao nível dos segmentos de produção, transformação e comercialização; The Palm oil value chain in São Tome and Principe: analysis according to traditional and industrial production Systems Abstract: Palm oil, also known as palm oil, palm oil or even palm oil, commonly used for food, industrial and other purposes, is a product extracted from the fruits of the palm, from the humid tropical regions, in which they come together climatic conditions for its planting and exploration, as is the case of São Tomé and Príncipe (STP), constituting its production, both traditional and industrial, a potential source of valorization of resources, creation of wealth and well-being and development of their populations. Currently, the market is supplied by palm oil produced in a traditional way, by the families involved in this practice, in an agro-industrial way, recently taken over by Agripalma, of the Belgian Sofinco group, and through the import of other types of edible oils. Population growth and the decrease in domestic palm oil production at the beginning of the past decade led to a considerable increase in imports of other types of edible oils, with a consequent change in consumption patterns and consumer tastes. Therefore, it was important to study and evaluate the competitiveness of palm oil production in STP and then investigate how to improve the competitiveness of the palm oil industry in the face of competition from imported edible oils. Thus, in a first phase, agribusiness of edible oil was characterized in STP, fundamentally based on secondary data. Then, the second and fundamental phase of the work consisted, based on primary data obtained by inquiry, in the characterization of the palm oil sector in order to identify the main phases and operations carried out by each of the agents participating in the chain and their costs, as well as the prices that are formed in each of the phases and, therefore, the margins that are obtained in the marketing channels of the traditional and agro-industrial systems. In a third phase, the price of palm oil was compared with the price of imported edible oils, since in terms of consumption they are almost perfect substitute goods. In the fourth and last phase, the analysis, discussion and presentation of proposals and recommendations for public policies were carried out, which can contribute to the dynamism and development of the value chain in STP. The traditional palm oil production chain in STP consists of producers of pine cones, pine cone converters into palm oil and retailers who add value in the production, processing and marketing phases, respectively. The values obtained for the remuneration of own factors, the family income or income of producers, processors and retailers are positive, indicating a retribution for family work slightly below up to values above the market value, that is, its cost opportunity, depending on the phases of the chain in which they intervene in the long, intermediate and short channels. Thus, the traditional system, in addition to guaranteeing production for self-consumption, constitutes a relevant recipe for the formation of the income of families engaged in the production, processing and retailing of palm oil. In the agro-industrial system, a slightly negative net result was found for the short or export channel in the first half of the Agripalma company's operation, because real production was below expectations, and a positive and relatively high margin in the intermediate or domestic channel. Therefore, at the expected levels of agro-industrial production, there will be an economic advantage for both channels of this system. It was also concluded that the costs and price of traditionally produced palm oil are higher than that of agro-industrial palm oil and imported edible oils. Low production levels, quality potential, organoleptic characteristics and typicality seem to guarantee the price premium of traditionally produced palm oil. As for agro-industrial palm oil, its export cost, even considering the high costs of technical assistance and industrial property and the market context of the first half of this year, is competitive at international prices, and its domestic price is more lower than the price of imported oils, so it is competitive in the domestic market. Thus, both systems in the palm oil value chain can be a factor in valuing natural resources, namely land and palm plantations, the raw materials produced by them, the pine cone, and the work of producers, transformers and sellers involved in the locally produced palm oil value chain. To promote the competitiveness of the value chain, support measures were also suggested at the level of the production, transformation and marketing phases.

This study is an in-depth investigation of the factors that affect store brand purchases. It aims to help both retailers and manufacturers predict store brand purchases through an improved understanding of the effects of three latent variables: customer satisfaction and loyalty with the store; which is expressed through word-of-mouth; and trust in store brands. An additional aim is to explore variations in the level of store brand adoption and the inter-relationships between the selected constructs. Data was collected through a telephone survey of those responsible for household grocery shopping, and who shop at the nine leading grocery retailers in Greece. A total of 904 respondents completed the questionnaire based upon a quota of 100 respondents for each of the nine retailers. Data were analyzed through chi-square, analysis of variance and partial least square. The proposed model was tested by partial least square path modeling, which related the latent variables to the dependent manifest variable: store brand purchases. The findings provide empirical support that store brand purchases are positively influenced by the consumers’ perceived level of trust in store brands. The consumer decision-making process for store brands is complex and establishing customer satisfaction and loyalty with the store does not appear to influence store brand purchases or the level of trust in the retailer’s store brands in the specific context under study. Consequently the most appropriate way to influence store brand purchases in the Greek market is through increasing in the level of trust in the retailer’s store brands. It is suggested that retailers should therefore invest in trust building strategies for their own store brands and try to capitalize on their brand equity by using a family brand policy. Theoretical and managerial implications of the findings are discussed and opportunities for further research are suggested.

Диссертационная работа посвящена разработке теоретических и прикладных основ формирования и внедрения информационного обеспечения взаимоотношений с клиентами машиностроительных предприятий. В первой главе «Теоретические и практические основы информационного обеспечения системы взаимоотношений предприятия с клиентами» проведено обобщение теоретических и методических подходов к формированию информационного обеспечения взаимоотношений предприятия с клиентами, уточнена трактовка терминов «CRM» и «CRM-система», систематизировано и дополнено классификацию информационных систем управления взаимоотношений с клиентами, обосновано принципы формирования информационного обеспечения взаимоотношений с клиентами. Во втором разделе «Исследования информационного обеспечения взаимоотношений с клиентами машиностроительных предприятий» предложен методический подход к исследованию информационного обеспечения управления взаимоотношений с клиентами машиностроительных предприятий, проведено анализ эффективности использования нематериальных активов и качественную характеристику информационного обеспечения систем управления взаимоотношениями с клиентами отечественных машиностроительных предприятий по предложенной методике, выделено факторы, определяющие информационное обеспечение системы управления взаимоотношений с клиентами. В третьем разделе «Развитие информационного обеспечения взаимоотношений с клиентами отечественных машиностроительных предприятий» предложено когнитивную модель информационного обеспечения системы управления взаимоотношений с клиентами машиностроительных предприятий, предложена классификация клиентов машиностроительных предприятий и рекомендательный характер взаимодействия для выделенных групп клиентов, обоснованно математическое выражение расчета полной стоимости владения информационной системой управления взаимоотношениями с клиентами, построена регрессионная модель влияния затрат на формирование информационной системы управления взаимоотношениями с клиентами на доход машиностроительного предприятия. Основные положения работы внедрены в практику деятельности отечественных предприятий машиностроительного комплекса.
The thesis is dedicated to the development of theoretical and applied formation and implementation principles of the information customer relation management of the machine-building enterprises. Theoretical and methodical principles of the information management formation of the customer relationship have been improved, the existing classification of the customer relationship management information system has been developed, the principles of the customer relationship information management have been defined, methodical approach to analyzing the customer relationship information management and to evaluate the domestic machine-building enterprises management state have been suggested, the factors defining the information management of the machine-building enterprise customer relationship control have been distinguished, the structure of the information customer relation management of the machine-building enterprises has been improved. The cognitive model of the implementation of the information customer relationship management control of the machine-building enterprises has been developed, regression model of the CRM-system forming costs impact on the machine-building enterprises income has been constructed. The main provisions were implemented in practice of domestic machine-building enterprises.

Né en 1727 à Briançon, Jean-Antoine Morand a 14 ans lorsqu’il se lance, suite à la mort de son père, dans une carrière artistique. C’est à Lyon qu’il s’installe et fonde, en 1748, un atelier de peinture. Il reçoit des commandes officielles et privées, travaille régulièrement pour la Comédie, se spécialise dans la peinture en trompe-l’œil et la scénographie, y compris les machines de théâtre. À la fin des années 1750, encouragé par Soufflot, il se tourne vers l’architecture et l’embellissement, ainsi que l’y disposent différents aspects de sa première carrière.Architecte autodidacte, Morand souffre d’un déficit de légitimité et tente d’y remédier en recherchant la reconnaissance publique. Mais ses succès, en particulier la construction à titre privé d’un pont sur le Rhône, n’y suffisent pas. La carrière de Morand est tiraillée entre fierté entrepreneuriale et appétence institutionnelle. Son image pâtit de l’opposition entre spéculation foncière et promotion du bien public. Cela concerne en particulier son grand œuvre, un projet d’agrandissement de Lyon sur la rive gauche du Rhône, compris dans un plan général donnant à la ville la forme circulaire.Morand a peu construit et il ne subsiste presque rien de son œuvre pictural. Receiving public and private commissions and working for the theatre on a regular basis, he specializes in trompe l’œil painting and stage-setting, including machinery. In the late 1750s, spurred on by Soufflot, he turns to architecture and city-planning, as various aspects of his previous career could have prompted him to.As an autodidactic architect, Morand suffers from a lack of legitimacy against which he pursues public recognition. But his successes, which include the building of a privately-owned bridge across the Rhône, aren’t enough. Morand’s career is torn between entrepreneurial pride and his longing for tenure. His public image is marred by the alleged opposition between land speculation and the defense of public good. Twenty billions : that is the cost of financial and economic crime in France. This is close to organised crime, but it still remains an ill-defined phenomenon, an atypical delinquency with specific features, an area where only few initiate persons succeed in twarthing misbehaviours committed by pioneer criminals in regard to the modus operandi they use. Financial and economic crime plagues the social and economic system, and although this tends to be contained in France, successive and innovative reforms haven’t ensured a more appropriate criminal justice response. Judicial system has been provided with specialized penal courts, but judicial inquiry, the cradle of fight against crime, still remains subject to ordinary criminal procedural rules. As feedbacks show, basic investigation powers contrast with exceptional delinquency, whereas they could be improved by the adaptation of the tested investigation devices

Nowadays, Taiwan maternity health care is based on Western medical ideology, however most women in Taiwan follow the traditional custom of postpartum care, named "Doing the Month". Although the studies regarding the custom and the discourse of “Doing the Month” are fairly common, the connotations around postpartum care and the conception of the custom norms are still unclear. Evolution continues and social environment is changing and that we can see the puerperal women are uncertain and worrying about to whether to follow the norms of the traditional custom in the clinical practices. This research adopted the “Ecological Systems Theory” in the research process including the systematic literature review that analyzed exhaustively the related literature and historical data in the reports of Chinese and Western medicine regarding maternity care after childbirth in the attempt to clarify the connotations and conceptions of traditional “Doing the Month” custom norms. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a purpose sample of 48 elderly women (EW) and 42 younger women (YW) who were within one year postpartum living in Taipei and Yilan areas. We conducted in-depth interviews with the women across generations using semi-structured interview guide focusing on the women’s experiences of the custom norms during the puerperal period. The documents from the qualitative interview data verbatim transcription were analyzed according to the principles of content analysis and statistical analysis that counts the number of occurrence of the themes arised in order to understand women’s cognition and how did they comply with the practices of the traditional custom norms, so that the women’s needs in their postpartum care were understood. The study findings by the document analysis have found that the traditional custom norms were based on the ecological environment at that time in the form of postpartum care strategies that refer to the main objective which was to avoid maternal postpartum morbidity or death to help women achieving the motherhood tasks successfully. We can see the connotations and conceptions of the traditional “Doing the Month” custom norms were helping the mothers to avoid illness, healthier recovery, and to become as a mother. It was also to help the newborns to be healthy in their survival. The care providers of postpartum care of the “Doing the Month” in puerperal period were the family relatives, especially the mother in-law. The younger generation women have more resources of information and care agency services providing care during “Doing the Month”. At the same time, women would consider the affordability of services, self-capability in newborn care, elder relatives’ loading of care and capability of providing care during“Doing the Month”, and even would like to look for the vocational care of puerperal mother for the newborn. Therefore, they might try to arrange and pay for the vocational services during "Doing the Month". It is visible that women in different technological, social value, cognition, and medical health care resources,, compliance, and obeying the custom norms of "Doing the Month" have been affected by the overall ecosystem. Especially under the commercialization of "Doing the Month" services, the new mothers showed more willingness to follow and practice the principles of the custom in the postpartum. The study also found that with the evolution of medicine, technology and life sanitation, some outdated norms were no longer to be used continually, but some norms are still been complied reluctantly due to people’s fear of health hazards if not complied. The situation resulted in the women’s physical and emotional problems in the postpartum care. The research proposes that the application the custom norms of “Doing the Month” for women’s postpartum care should be adjusted according to the living conditions, health concepts and medical knowledge evolving in order to avoid health hazards. Otherwise, the women should understand the connotations and purposes of the custom norms, and to re-arrange the personalized care assistances by considering her physical condition, social resources, and economic capacity to meet their postpartum care needs. In fact, it is not about spending more money to get better postpartum care. An appropriate carrying out the customary norms of "Doing the Month" by the "helper(s)" is useful when fitting the needs of the postpartum care for the women so that the postpartum women are been supported in performing activities of daily living, getting the healthier diet and nurturing the newborns successfully. Similarly, the women’s body can recover well to return to a near pre-pregnant state and accomplish the motherhood tasks with satisfaction. Therefore, the women and the newborn were strong and healthy which adhered to the connotations and aims of the traditional custom “Doing the Month”.

This study examines the history of Indian-settler legal relations in Indiana, from the state’s pre-territorial period to the late-nineteenth century. Through a variety of interdisciplinary sources and methods, the author constructs a broad narrative on the evolution and co-existence of Native and non-Native customary legal systems in the region, focusing on matters related to marriage, property rights, and testimony. The primary thesis—which emphasizes reciprocally formative relations, rather than persistent conflict—suggests that Indiana’s pre-modern legal past involved an ad hoc yet highly effective process of cultural brokerage, reciprocity and inter-personal accommodation. That the American Indians lost much of their self-governing status following the period of contact is clear; however, a closer look at the ways in which nations historically defined, exercised, asserted, and shared jurisdiction, reveals a more intricate story of influence, authority, and concession. During the French and British colonial and American territorial periods, settler society adjusted to and often accommodated Native concepts of law and justice. Through a complex order of social obligations and community-based enforcement mechanisms, a shared set of rules and jurisdictional practices merged, forming a hybrid system of Indian-settler norms that bound these individuals across the cultural divide. When Indiana entered the Union in 1816, legal pluralism defined jurisdictional practice. However, with the nineteenth-century rise of legal positivism—the idea of law as the sole command of the nation-state, a sovereign entity vested with exclusive authority—territorial jurisdiction and legal uniformity became guiding principles. Many jurists viewed the informal, pre-existing custom-based regulatory structures with contempt. With the shift to a state-centered legal order, lawmakers established strict standards for recognizing the law of the “other,” ultimately rejecting the status of the tribes as equal sovereigns and forcing them to concede jurisdiction to the settler polity.

The customer equity includes value equity, brand equity, retention equity; and some important marketing actions that were identified to build these three equities respectively.   Thus, through the customer equity model, this research could deeply understand how the customer loyalty formation and provide suggestions for retailers to maintain current customers and attract potential customers in this competitive business world.   This research takes the fresh made coffee consumers of convenient stores as research objective, the valid samples are 455. The results of this research suggest that perceived quality can significantly increase the value equity, the brand awareness, brand attitude, and corporate social responsibility can significantly increase the brand equity, the community engagement can significantly increase the retention equity, and the value equity, brand equity, and retention equity can significantly increase the loyalty intention.

But facing these increasingly complicated self service technologies, different consumers may entertain diverse feeling and attitude. These differences would bring about entirely diverse service evaluation and consume behavior that consumers do. In consequence, how to identify the feeling which consumers feel to technology service, and then how to administer and improve these feeling is become a important research topic that researchers want to ascertain it. In the foreseeable future, technology would greatly change the connection in service marketing relationship. More and more researches note that on-line transaction relationship in intrinsically is uncertainly and highly risky since consumers can’t touch commodities, face to face with salesmen, and many swindles or Trojan horses exist in the virtual environment. Therefore this research bases on previous researches to build a integrative research model. Aiming at travel website, this research identifies the relationships between technology readiness, e-service quality, customer perceived value, trust and customer loyalty. In doing so, confirmatory factor analysis is used to examine questionnaire’s reliability and validity, and structure equation model is used to examine research hypotheses. Most of the literature of health care quality management has studied such supplier’s factors as quality of the supplier, diagnosis equipment, and digital information system to improve quality of diagnosis and treatment. However, the impacts of customer’s factors on quality of diagnosis and treatment have been ignored. Due to the fact that accurate diagnosis is one of most important inputs of quality of diagnosis and treatment, the research attempts to explore the impacts of customer personality on disease formation to be the pilot study in understanding the roles of customer psychological attributes in management of quality of diagnosis and treatment. Building from the foundation of known skin diseases which have been reported to be related to psychological mental stress, this research tries to find out if there is correlation between customer personality and skin diseases. The results of this research indicate that there is correlation between the incident of some types of skin diseases and specific types of customer personality. The results develop the relationship between customer personality and disease diagnosis. This relationship then may facilitate disease prediction, diagnosis accuracy, and therapy outcomes to develop a more effective framework for management of quality of diagnosis and treatment.

The subsequent influence of initiation schools on scholastic achievement was also researched. A qualitative research method was used to give a scientific support to the findings made in literature. Interviewing and interview schedules were employed as data-collecting techniques. Interviews were conducted with 10 initiates from the Ndzundza and the Manala initiation schools. The positive outcomes of this research can, however, not be generalised, but rather indicate possible tendencies that initiation schools play a significant role in the identity formation of Southern Ndebele adolescent boys.

A juntar a isto, a SIMECQ desenvolve diversas atividades, de âmbito cultural, desportivo, lúdico e recreativo. Neste contexto, a modalidade de basquetebol, bem como o respetivo departamento contemplam uma das atividades chave da instituição, o que justifica uma das motivações na escolha do local para a realização do estágio curricular, no âmbito do mestrado em Gestão do Desporto, na Faculdade de Motricidade Humana. Considerando que as novas tecnologias vieram substituir o papel como suporte de informação nas últimas décadas, torna-se relevante analisar a propensão dos consumidores portugueses passarem a utilizar documentos digitais. Assim, surge a oportunidade de investigar o que motiva os consumidores a aderir ou resistir à utilização de documentos digitais, e analisar o nível de satisfação e confiança dos mesmos com a utilização de documentos digitais em alternativa ao formato papel, preenchendo uma lacuna existente na literatura para o contexto português. A metodologia envolveu a utilização de duas ferramentas para recolha de dados, entrevista e questionário. A realização das entrevistas serviu um duplo propósito: apurar as vantagens e desvantagens da utilização de documentos digitais reconhecidas por cada tipo de consumidor considerado (particular e empresarial); e contribuir para a operacionalização do questionário. Foram realizadas 18 entrevistas a consumidores particulares e 15 entrevistas a consumidores empresariais, e foram recolhidos (válidos) 834 questionários para análise. A análise da informação recolhida realizou-se através de análise descritiva, testes de hipóteses, correlação e análise de "clusters". Os resultados indicam que as pessoas com mais idade mostram uma maior resistência à utilização de documentos digitais; pessoas com um grau de escolaridade mais elevado apresentam uma maior propensão para a utilização de documentos digitais; o formato digital é o mais utilizado pelos dois tipos de consumidores considerados; os consumidores empresariais apresentam uma maior satisfação e confiança no uso de documentos digitais que os consumidores particulares.
Considering that during the last decade’s new technologies have emerged to replace paper as an information support, it is relevant to analyze the disposition of Portuguese consumers to start using digital documents. Hence the opportunity to investigate what motivates to adhere or resist to the use of digital documents, and analyze their trust and satisfaction level with the usage of digital documents instead of paper ones, filling a existent gap in the literature in the Portuguese context.. The methodology involved the utilization of two tools for data collection, interviews and queries. The interviews had a double purpose: understand the advantages and disadvantages of using digital documents for each type of considered consumer (individual and corporate); and contribute to the operationalization of the questionnaire. 18 interviews were conducted to individual consumers and 15 to corporate consumers, and 834 questionnaires were collected (validated) for analysis. The analysis of the collected information was made through descriptive analysis, hypothesis testing, correlation and clusters’ analysis. The results indicate that older people show a greater resistance to the usage of digital documents; people with a higher educational degree have a higher disposition to use digital documents; digital format is the most used by both of the considered types of consumers; corporate consumers display a higher trust and satisfaction in using digital documents than the individual consumers.

A formação atualmente tem assumido um papel estratégico de negócio no desenvolvimento competitivo e posicionamento das empresas no mercado nacional e internacional. O negócio é um gerador de lucro, sendo que os atores principais na produção de receitas são as pessoas. As pessoas assumem a liderança no retorno do investimento e na inovação, existindo uma preocupação de potenciar os recursos existentes na organização - o Capital Humano. Para a criação de valor e inovação organizacional, o design dos planos formativos, desde a identificação das necessidades até à avaliação da formação devem estar alinhados com o negócio e com respetivas variáveis que podem influenciar a transferência das aprendizagens (individuais e organizacionais) para a situação de trabalho. Por outras palavras, a formação é considerada parceira de negócio quando são obtidos os resultados previamente definidos em diversas áreas de saber, como saber-saber, saber-ser e estar e saber-fazer – um nova competência. O objetivo da investigação é compreender quais os determinantes da transferência dos conhecimentos formativos individuais para a situação de trabalho, no retalho especializado. Para apoiar esta investigação foi selecionado um plano formativo, com foco no atendimento ao cliente - Formação Treinar para Vender. Neste estudo, foram realizadas entrevistas a nove participantes numa multinacional no qual, uma das áreas de negócio é o retalho especializado. Esta investigação reflete a varíavel ambiente de trabalho como determinante no processo de transferência, mas também os participantes percecionam os supervisiores e os formadores como figuras importantes neste processo.
Nowadays training has plotted a crucial role in the business world in order what it takes the competitive development and the setting of the enterprises in the national and international market. Business is a profit’s tool, where the main characters in the generation of revenues are the public. People take the lead in the exchange of investment and innovation, within a concern to upgrade the actual resources in the organization – the Human Capital. To create value and organizational innovation, the design training plans, from its identification’s needs to the evaluation of the training must be aligned with the business and respective variables that can influence the exchange of learning (individual and organizational) for the situation of work. In other words, training is considered a partner of business when it is obtained the predefined results in various fields of knowledge as for instance: know-know, know-being and being and know-how – of a one new skill. The main goal of the research is to understand what are the variables, which takes place on the transference of individual training expertise to a real work situation, in this case, the specialized retail. To support this research was selected a training plan, focusing on customer service – “Training to Sell”. In this research, nine interviews were conducted in a corporation, which one belongs to the business area of specialized retail. This research reflects the work environment as a determinant variable in the transfer process, but also participants perception of the supervisors and trainers as key figures in this process.

Funeral leaders share the ministry of comfort with others. They make a specific religious contribution towards restoring life or decontaminating from death, which affects the faith and hope of the bereaved. Their ministry responds to a need of the bereaved by affirming community in the face of death. It is based on spirituality and grounded in the biblical and apostolic tradition; it is carried out in a catholic contextualisation. The leaders' insertion into both the cultural background and the religious realm encourages contextualisation. Their verbal proclamation is done in various ways and is linked to ritual. It reflects the three dimensions of the model employed in pastoral theology by taking life seriously, interpreting it in the light of faith, and leading a celebration that opens up the future of the participants. The leaders' proclamation is sincere when they link cultural family-procedures and church rituals in a parallel way. Sincerity suffers when community leaders, used to provide a comprehensive service, cannot preside over the promised celebration of the Eucharist, which could be the culmination of the rite of passage. Their ministry remains incomplete because of factors beyond their control. It nevertheless contributes to justice in many ways, in particular by deploying local people. While the ministry is carried out independently, it depends on collaboration with the pastoral staff, in particular the priests. They safeguard the quality of ministry by formation and through supervision. The collaborative formation contributes to the cultural insertion of the local and expatriate staff and enhances their competence. This collaborative ministry serves the bereaved, the community of faith, and theology. It allows the development of a contextualised liturgy, and a local theology. It is a step forward on the road towards a genuine form of community ministry in this particular African context. It corresponds with contemporary secular approaches towards leadership and management. African approaches emphasise the need for contextualised management forms. They assume the compatibility of different practices employed in different contexts. The comprehensively grounded ministry seems to contribute to the avoidance or overcoming of some of the grave shortcomings of ministry as provided in the past.
