Full textObjectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the required didactic curriculum of the graduating class of 2007 of the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy by assessing the extent that it satisfied the Outcomes Expected document. The curriculum was evaluated specifically for the disease states of diabetes and hypertension, as well as general pharmacy areas. This also offered insight into which areas of the document needed to be addressed more completely in the pharmacy curriculum. Methods: This was a retrospective analysis using the graduating class of 2007 as a cohort for evaluating the competencies. Course materials from required courses were reviewed to identify components that were met. Results: When all components were analyzed, the curriculum addressed 85.2% of the outcomes expected. All but 1 component of Domain 1.0 was covered, 95.8% (23/24), and Domain 2.0 was completely covered (23/23). While Domain 3.0 was not addressed in the required curriculum, students may have experienced these competencies through extracurricular activities. Coverage of both disease specific topics, diabetes and hypertension, was evidenced identically with course material. All components specific to the disease state were covered 85.7% (18/21). Domain 1.0 was addressed 88.9% (16/18), Domain 2.0 was addressed 66.7% (2/3), and Domain 3.0 was not addressed in the documentation. Conclusions: The documented curriculum of the graduating class of 2007 at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy did not fulfill all components in the Outcomes Expected document. While some areas may have been addressed, documentation was lacking. We encourage course directors to reevaluate their curriculum to ensure areas not evidenced with coverage are addressed. We also urge more stringent documentation of the areas that were not evidenced with documentation.

Full textThis research endeavours to identify education paradigms which characterise French primary school programs of 2002 and 2008 and, through them, to look at the politics projects standing below these programs. Particularly, this study will examine the way in which each of these programs tries to answer the challenge of democratic modernity. This analysis is organized from the angle of systemic coherence of the three constitutive points standing at the basis of an education program : purposes, scientific support and practise. This attempt at establishing a pattern is backed up by the data collected at the conclusion of a thematic reading of the programs developed inside each field or discipline. The first chapter is devoted to the methods of development of these two programs. The four following chapters are devoted to the analysis, on the comparative mode, of the various disciplines gathered by curriculum approach. The way of approaching the teaching of each one of them is indeed modelled there, but the intention is also to identify, for each of the programs, various methods of coherence in the treatment of these disciplines and to illustrate them using these gatherings, which are not the only possible ones. The whole of this study makes it possible to give birth to a sixth chapter of synthesis devoted to the determination of the two educational paradigms conveyed by the programs of 2002 and 2008 and to the characterization of their systemic coherence, at the same time horizontal, from one discipline to another for each cycle, along with vertical, i.e. relative to a possible continuity between cycles, even between degrees of teaching. This synthesis also tries to put forward contrasts between these two educational paradigms, compared to the criterion of the type of individual who has to be formed. This reflection on the programs of the elementary school leads to curriculum implications vis-à-vis to the professional competences of the teachers, who are, in return, examined

Full textThis study lies in the field of teaching of French as a foreign language. It is part of the debate on the links between the processes of higher order thinking (analysis, evaluation and creation) and the process of learning French. It focuses on the development of sub-skills of oral expression in French by virtue of assumption that there are links between thinking and speaking, and that it is possible to develop the sub-skills of oral expression using the thinking program (known as "thinking curriculum" TC). To do this, our study will focus on two studies: a theoretical study to understand these linkages, namely the difference between a language and reflection on language, and study the thinking program and its role in the development of language skills. Another study will be conducted, it is a field study that aims to develop teaching units based on the TC and to elaborate a test of oral expression to conduct an experimental study and prove the hypothesis of the research. This field study will be conducted on students of foreign origin in a reception class (a class welcoming to foreign born learners) in the Paris suburbs

Full textThis thesis, consisting mainly in submitting a corpus of previous works, is made of one “guiding light” volume (119 pages) and four volumes that reproduce (A) books, collective books, articles and contributions to collective works, (B) official reports of “inspection générale” of which the author was main or associated pilot, (C) articles from reviews, (D) lectures and communications, and (E) published interviews. The first part explains from which circumstances a senior civil servant of the Department of Education regularly produced such works since 1985 and how these works step by step got their first consistency. It also tells from which motivations, be they superficial or deeper, the academic legitimization of these works is aimed for in the framework of a PhD. It also questions the grounds of this academic legitimacy, from the ways the objects were built, the kinds of reasoning that are used and the produced results themselves. The second part starts from what in the previous works dealt with the way the French Educational system is ruled, with two subtitles “A Department of ignorance?” and “Disorder in Educational authorities” : it is shown to what extent the notion of “educational system”, made sacred as it is, together with fallacious political positions about evaluation, with the frequent ignorance of international issues in most educational decisions, and with a weak official interest towards knowledge about education, reinforces the central State, as far as Education is concerned, as an actor paradoxically monopolistic, ignorant and powerless. The third part is more specifically dedicated to one aspect of the educational system that is often ignored and taboo, namely curricular policies: the author does not only show that the concept of curriculum itself is not used, but that the disorder that has for long characterized the way the curricula are produced in France, makes up a system together with a disinterest towards what students actually learn, this disinterest being itself part of the selection-oriented French educational tradition. Eventually, it analyses to which extent the introduction of the “common core of competencies to be reached at the end of compulsory education” (“socle commun”) opens the way for the first curricular policy in this country

Full textThis thesis is about the curriculum reform in physical education and biology as implemented in the Republic of Benin. The research is conveyed through a comparative approach and look at the didactical transposition. Three studies are conducted. The first one characterizes from a content analysis of official documents the new disciplinary matrix of the physical education curriculum and the biology curriculum. The second study concerns the discourses held by different actors (supervisors, mentors, and teachers) on the curriculum reform which began ten years ago. The last one is about the teaching practices of 6 teachers (3 in PE teaching basket-ball; 3 in Biology teaching predation and parasitism as inter species relations). The findings highlight the constraints that weight on the ways these new curricula are implemented in classroom

Full textThis research studies the processes of mediation implemented in the appropriation of the international directives in a country which was subjected to various exogenic influences during its history, influences which take their origins in colonization and continue, in different forms, even become intensified with the policies of globalization: that of Gabon and its junior high school. The analysis of educational policies in this context leads to question the relevance of a certain "form school" imposed on a society whose logics of education may be contradictory to those imported. How can the national policies of education in Gabon be built in a context dominated by the permanent telescoping between need for national construction, international colonial history and constraints? By choosing to focus the analysis on the processes of curricular definition and particularly on the formal curriculum of history, research brings together, epistemologically speaking, analytical tools of sociology curriculum and of comparative education starting from the putting in perspective the concepts of for the concepts of “outsourcing” and “resources mobilization”. The methodological approach is twofold: documentary and empirical. It is based on a diachronic analysis of school curricula and history textbooks in the first cycle of junior high school and a testing of the formal curriculum from the speeches of educational actors such as teachers and educational advisers. In the context of Gabon, our research highlights the financing of the construction of several school infrastructures by the authorities like the “BAD” or the “Coopération Française” and its effects. The mediation of the international policies in Gabon also reveals the constant inadaptability of an educational body whose system of thought and values which underlie it are exogenic with the local culture. The efforts of appropriation of the system in a context dealing with all kinds of influences (internal and external) are particularly tricky. Questioning these phenomena under tension, research shows that the position on the international chessboard largely determines the action or inertia, in a decisive way. Thus, as Gabon is not able to “go against the current”, it adopts, to some extent, the universal education agenda at the expense of his own maturation of nation-building project. Research finally makes it possible to realize that the formal curriculum in junior high school is “bipolar”, since the beginning of the Seventies and with no real evolution since then. The two poles are Africa and Europe, other parts of the world making only brief appearances. It is the same for the treatment of the local culture through school curricula and textbooks. Research also reveals that the formal curriculum of history is rather stable in junior high school and that there is some form of curricular inertia, we analyze from the data collected

Full textIf the historiography of EPS is clearly rich in works on the word of authority (official documents) and the sacred word (Designs EPS), however, there is less research on actual learning practices from the past investigation of the speech of ordinary players EPS. We believe this lack of historical data on what is actually taught in EPS during the twentieth century is partly due to the opacity and private act of teaching revolution and, secondly to the difficulty of finding witnesses, relatively old for us to share their teaching practices in terms of their life story. This thesis therefore focuses on the cross-analysis (testimonies, private records, inspection reports) of the evolution of actual curricula related to teaching swimming in EPS (1945-1995, second degree) in a "heterogeneous population of "teacher (s) EPS (n = 143) who experienced various personal and professional life histories. To collect data on their life story (aquatic knowledge) and their past practices educators, we used the methodology of the survey and written testimony supplemented by private sources circumstantial or semi-official and inspection reports. These tools have given us the possibility to define on the one hand, which was actually taught as aquatic knowledge before (primary socialization), during and after their studies in EPS (secondary socialization) and, on the other hand, what was actually taught to students during swimming sessions in various academies and in different school contexts (schools, colleges) between 1945 and 1995. Beyond the formalization of past teaching practices at the point of teaching swimming in EPS, a swimming resourcefulness 1945-1960, swimming in the shadow of the 1960-1986 sports, swimming or a autotelic "épsienne "(1986-1995), we were also able to highlight that the temporality of school reforms (official instructions, programs, certification evaluation) does not overlap with that of the mechanical changes observed in the field, not so much that every actor field is systematically opposed to any school reform or otherwise in accordance with it. But, in terms of its life story and professional staff (micro level), contingency local educational contexts encountered and taught in the career (meso level), the receipt of reforms and target audiences conceptions of EPS and teaching swimming worn (macro level), the actor is and remains, as also stressed Antoine Prost (1996), "a decisive factor" in the establishment or non-school reforms. Finally, this study has helped to highlight a cultural history of professional acting in the place of the teaching of swimming in EPS and epistemology aquatic knowledge acquired and transmitted as the side of the PE teachers that the students between 1945-1995. It goes without saying that our results are related to the body, the methodology and identifying characteristics of the population studied here

Full textThis work lies on the analysis that the introduction of new programs only slightly affects teachers' practices. Four resisting factors have been identified by the literature: the conception logic of official documents, the way they are introduced to teachers, the structure of the text and finally, the educative conceptions from which teachers define their own practices. In order to deal with this issue of change, it was key to start upstream from teachers' practices, where lies the system ofvalues mobilized by the teacher to carry out his task. We will express the hypothesis according to which it is possible, under the particular frame of physical education (PE), to affect teachers' system of values in presenting the range of the notion of pupils' personal-development in a teaching curriculum during their PE lessons. In order to characterize the systems of values and measure the changes induced by the introduction of the curriculum, we use the values-orientation (VO) model. The obtained results partly confirm this hypothesis as a modification of the systems of values is noticed. This experience concurs with the effect of the elements picked up in the literature to conceive the curriculum and the existence of a link between the evolution of the VO profile and its original structure. However, two major contradictions raise questions on the relevance of a strictly quantitative approach. The teachers' original profiles are composed of incompatible VOs amongthemselves and the evolution of the different VOs during the experience disagrees with those coined by the literature

Full textThis thesis shows that, in instructional situations, it is possible to discover an axis of meanings which has been seldom studied up to now, that is, the artistic dimension in teaching. First, concepts linked with teaching are developped such as, curriculum, pedagogy, instruction, didactics. Then, all along the history of pedagogy, the relations linked with the art of teaching are taken into account, and concepts in relation with art (technè, beauty, esthetics) are developped particularly, with the special aim to make obvious the conceptual domain on which this thesis stands. The kind of methodology used here is qualitative and research means deal with participative peripheric observation, semi-structured interview, and descriptive register. We have chosen to observe three Waldorf schools in three different european countries during school year 2000-2001 and to study in situ their pedagogy for they consider teaching as an art and the teacher as an artist. Only the main morning class was the prinicipal subject of our observation. We thought they were the best place to study the artistic dimension in teaching. This present research reveals that an explicit finality exists in the curriculum followed in these schools, that it is a general procedure which helps the teacher but never becomes a limited prescription or a constraint. The development of the teacher's esthetic abilities depends on his knowledge and experience of different arts, allowing him to sharpen his ability to observe and perceive human nature which constitutes the very ground on which he acts. The main procedure used by the teacher is isnpired by several concepts: Rythm, Unity, Harmony, and Proportion

Full textThis thesis seeks to identify the conditions of possibility for variations and amendments in the curricula, given social pressures. For this purpose, it is founded on a precise content of teaching : the events of colonialism that, from the 1980’s to the Present, have questioned more and more the national and republican consensus, as it connects to the issue of post-colonial immigration. This thesis is also founded on firsthand empirical material : political and media discourses constructing the teaching of the events of colonialism as a public matter ; archives of National Education ; official reports ; and many interviews. Our lines of inquiry consisted then in identifying the establishment of networks of social actors likely to make compatible scientifically and politically debated issues with the expectations of the history curriculum, and to facilitate its translation. Our inquiry reveals that every occurrence of the memorial debate on the colonial past restages specific stinging and pulling in the republican school systen and in the teaching of history : the dialectic between cultural plurality and universalism, the one between equality and identity, or even the one between logics of acknowledgment and civic logics. Many injunctions are to be found, at different levels, sometimes contradictory, many discrepancies between the agendas of public debates and the timescale of school, so that the concordance between the social discourse and the history curricula does not turn out to be innate or natural

What is the common point between these three specialties, if not the importance of the relationship to the other one? However, an examination of the school system and the concerns that animate the education community attest to a strong ascendancy of disciplinary and didactical aspects. Nevertheless, the memories left by the teachers to the students are more conditioned by the communicative relationship they have established together. The study of this point of view and the search for significant elements to accredit its functionality was carried out using a cross-methodology, quantitative and qualitative, summoning questionnaires for students, tests of empathy and tests. Assertiveness to teachers, films in teaching situations analyzed from both a thematic and quantitative point of view, as well as semi-structured interviews with the actors. Full textAlthough in France school can be seen as an important factor in women emancipation many studies have pointed out that it also remains an instrument enabling the social reproduction of traditional gender relations. Since the 80s the National Education official texts have encouraged teachers to work for the promotion of gender equality and to question the sex stereotypes. Since the 2000s they have also asked them to fight against homophobia. These texts define the term as the discrimination or the verbal and the physical violence against the homosexuals but also, through the questioning of sex stereotypes, against those who are suspected of being homosexuals. However these formal requirements seem not well known by teachers and remain therefore unapplied. They nevertheless offer a formal framework and clearly-defined regulatory environment for people wishing to put into practice a non-sexist and/or a non-heterosexist pedagogy based on equal treatment of children regardless of their gender and on the refusal to link gender with predetermined social roles. This work focuses on these innovative practices and aims to strengthen the understanding of the specific work of these teachers and the new issues it raises. This research focuses precisely on the teachers who are intending to take up these issues and these practices in the context of primary school which includes in France the nursery school and the elementary school. On the basis of twenty non-directive interviews we try to better understand the specificity of these teachers's work and the representation they have of it. We also analyze the possibility and the characteristics of an education for gender and sexualities equality at the first education levels and the tensions that it can generate in the exercise of the teaching profession

Full textIn recent literature, Management Education is frequently described as a business industry, with the MBA program as its flagship product. Whilst attempting to position their programs in an increasingly competitive market, business schools continuously develop and renew the MBA. As a result, Management Education has become a new area of management study. The MBA has enjoyed a remarkable growth in recent decades, to the point that is has become a globally recognised degree. However, it has also received considerable criticism, especially regarding its curriculum content and organization. Using a qualitative interview-based research on French MBA programs and curricula development, this study focuses on the interaction of stakeholders in the MBA curriculum development, notably in light of the introduction of leadership-related modules. Its main findings evidence the strategic role and influence of the main stakeholders, i.e. regulators, suppliers and “clients”, in the MBA curriculum development process. The continuing improvement of the MBA curriculum reflects the recommendations of the regulators as well as the perspective of the suppliers, but the influence of demanders is more limited. This research led to the identification and the specification of a spiral evolution model, for the interaction of stakeholders in the organization of MBA and Management Education creates a synergistic growth in the industry that enables both organizations and the industry to be more efficient

It gives an account of the organization out of class and knowing spacio-temporal encroaching for young in the out of class time and in the informal moment. The theoretical framework leans on learning exploration’s concept, in its process-sized and it product-sized.The modeling proposed enable to categorize and characterize the out of class time and the school time in the formal’s distance. The empiric work had been done in farming’s institution and in a public middle school, with 4ème and 3ème’s pupils, who are changed their learning’s ways. A join method, quantitative and qualitative research, was done. It enables to take the feeling of the educational player and the teachers who operate out of class and, what’s more important, the learner. This survey use quiz, interviews, observations, pictures and schedule. It shows us significant results in the differential contribution of the out of class learning device, as much as the school results than the psychosocial hit. In challenging the separation of “in class” and “out of class” by “in school” and “out of school”, it hypothesizes an educational curriculum which ask about the part of school in the society and the part of each player, especially younger, in the new education call the global education

Full textIn this study, we are particularly interested in both the mathematical concept of fraction and such concept’s teaching-learning in Chinese culture terms. The concept of fraction is more than abstract and thus difficult for students to understand. Accordingly, this certain notion is designed for Grade 3 and Grade 5 in primary school. The first aim of our research is to make an introduction to the origin and development of the concept of fraction in ancient China and to present the various representations of the fraction in historical record. We also plan to analyze the representations and content arrangements in terms of the concept of fraction in Chinese textbooks, based on the Curriculum standard of mathematics for compulsory education 2011. In this part we analyzed two editions of mathematical textbooks which are used by public schools in the three northeastern provinces of China. In addition, we want to know the designs and practices of pedagogy by teachers in teaching the concept of fraction in the classrooms. Thus, we constructed the video-graphic data through field observations and the videos documented by the publishing company.By reviewing the data gleaned from the textbooks and the videos of the mathematical classes, we find that the the most prevalent concept under the name of fraction in the textbooks of Grade 3 and Grade5 is “part-whole”. Another finding is that the contents of the concept of fraction in the textbooks and the pedagogy of fraction in the mathematical classrooms are in agreement with the Curriculum standard of mathematics for the compulsory education

Full textThe curriculum reform that Burundi has initiated in basic and secondary schools calls for teaching practices to which some teachers were not initially trained. In our study, we are interested in teaching mathematics in the 4th cycle of the fundamental school. To help teachers caracterized by a variety of initial training profiles to implement this curriculum change, in-service teacher training for all teachers is provided during the school holidays. Our goal is to explore how teachers are using theirknowledge to implement the expected mathematics curriculum, and to analyze the needs related to their practices in order to improve the professionalization of initial and continuing education of teachers who teach in that cycle. The results obtained by performing a qualitative content analysis of data from the interviews conducted with 20 teachers and a statistical treatment with the SPSS software of data from the written questionnaire, sent to 105 teachers, are consistent. Teachers tend to follow thecurriculum prescriptions in the teacher's guide, which is considered as well constructed but is not likely to favor the reflexive work of teachers. Teachers who have been trained in mathematics teaching, rely on didactic and pedagogical knowledge acquired in initial training while the others exploit their experience in teaching. Continuing training do not match the expectations of teachers because of the short duration, the non-mathematical content and the disciplinary incompetence of the trainers. In order to improve the professionalization of training courses, initial teacher training institutions should refer to the subject-specific teaching, teaching and teaching skills needed to implement the current teaching curriculum. A reflection must be undertaken on the professional knowledge that should be the subject of initial training and on how to teach it. Continuing education should be organized on the basis of a prior analysis of the real needs of teachers. These continuing education and training which should be longer than usual should focus on the specific content and practices provided for in the curriculum, and provided by trainers chosen for their skills

Full textThe disparity between activity sectors for engineers is as great as that between their vocational training programs. But the latter are characterized by their sociohistorical basis that typically minimizes some consideration of khowledge acquired by HSS from their curriculum. Whereas the importance of the integration HSS in engineering education has been confirmed. That is why this present research aims at identifying the disciplines of HSS introduced into these trainings and the purposes which they pursue. It is a question of understanding in what and how the HSS participate in a reflexivity on the democratic stakes in the conditions of exercise of engineering practice or unlike the legitimization of a technocratic direction. The investigation first examined the display on the websites of the schools of HSS disciplines, their departments listed that include this subject in their teaching and research programs, and the texts describing their content. This investigation reveal an interdependence between these displays of HSS and cultural technoscientifics orientations of the engineering schools, partially determined by their supervision, date of creation, domain of speciality and level of recruitment. It shows howtheses orientations are linked with the institutionalization of the HSS in France. A categorization of schools was also elaborated, on the basis of the place and of the function which is occupied by the SHS in their curriculum. The dominant reference to the company in the program contrasts with HSS which are explicitly mobilized only in two categories of six, and are connected to the sciences and the techniques of engineering speciality only in one category. Studies of contrasted cases illustrate and go deeper into these first results. How difficult seams this coexistence, it is possible as shown by the analysis of a school among which the pioneering fouders boosted by their philosophic and political ambition, their personal values and shared convictions were also supprted by the national policies of research in HSS

Full textResearch performed since the twenties in the field of didactics of foreign languages, helped the rise of a certain audience with specific requests in professional language. That gave rise to a domain, which is composed of an important diversity of contexts and publics called "French for Specific Purposes". Teachers and researchers are brought to create specific methodological approach, to help this audience gain specific linguistic skills. This thesis aims at bringing elements of answer to the students of the syrian scientific colleges, particularly to those of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Our purpose is to identify the real needs of the latter, taking into account peculiarities of their domain and to conceive teacher-training frame of reference allowing them to develop oral and written comprehension and expression skills

Full textOur research consists of a longitudinal study in which one group of pupils in ordinary classroomsituations has been followed from the top level of French pre-elementary school (5- to 6 year-oldpupils) to the second level of French primary school (7- to 8 year-old pupils). For these three schoolgrades, one of the main objectives in the curriculum is learning to read.We consider that pupils build their new reading skills, i.e. the skills characterizing their potentialdevelopment, by relying on skills characterizing their actual development (Vygotski, 1934/1997).When learning to read, pupils yet have at their disposal semiotic abilities related to knowledge bothof material objects and their uses, and of basic gestures and their meaning (Moro & Rodríguez,2005), all of this we sum up under the term of materiality. Consequently, in our research, we makethe hypothesis that the children’s basic abilities related to materiality constitute a resource inteaching-learning situations. We have chosen to carry out a case study. The data collected consist of videos of class sequencescarried out four times a year for three years. These twelve videos are supplemented by two semistructuredinterviews with the teacher, one “self-confronting” interview in which the teacher isbrought to discuss her actions and by the analysis of the ministry’s school curricula. Our analysis isboth macrogenetic and microgenetic. For each teaching sequence, on the level of macrogeneticanalysis, we have made up the synopsis from which we have selected significant episodes in terms ofmateriality. The significant episodes are composed of remarkable events the microgenetic analysis ofwhich requires the use of tools such as materiality boards and photograms. Our study shows that materiality enables pupils to develop reading skills and that the forms thatmateriality takes on change according to the pupils’ acquisition progress and the aspects of reading(code and comprehension) still to be learned

Full textThe initial question of this thesis focuses, from a curriculum questioning point of view, on the use of molecular visualization (MV) software in the teaching of “sciences de la vie et de la Terre” (SVT) in France which are the equivalent of biology and geology. The achievement of a literature review about teaching using the MV made it clear that MV software can help this teaching. However, we did not find any study focusing on the uses of MV software in education. We developed a composite methodology relying on curricular issues (Martinand, 2000) to get a better understanding of the uses of VM software. We apprehended the prescribed curriculum through the analysis of official programs since the early 1990s, the analysis of baccalaureate subjects and analysis of reports of competitives examinations to be a teacher (agrégation and CAPES). We inferred the potential curriculum through the study of textbooks, academic training, academic sites, the "traces" found on the web and interviews with teachers. We inferred the curriculum co-produced through classroom observations and interviews with teachers. Finally, we conducted an interview with an actor who played a major part in the introduction of these software to understand better the processes involved in the use of these software. We got to the conclusion that there seems to be a "saturation" of the use of these software. It results in a use with little change in the last ten years that consists of a use for one or two practical works per year for each class of the high school. Activities that use these software seem to be very guided (protocol) and appear to put very little emphasis on the molecular aspect of molecular representations, instead simply give to see these representations. While originally, these programs have been introduced to bring scientific practices in the classroom, we may question this saturation. To determine if this was the case with other software in biology, we studied their use in using the methodology previously used. Thus, it appears that the use of these software, such as MV software seems restricted to one or two sessions a year through activities that seem quite formal (very guided). Finally, we noted a contrast between the declared will to incorporate ICT in education and a use we inferred where this practice seems at odds with the expectations of the program. We also considered the possibility of thinking of new activities through scientific practices of reference in relation to the MV. In order to do this, we analyzed scientific articles, conducted interviews with researchers and completed an internship for 3 weeks in a laboratory. It appears that it would seem preferable to focus in high school on activities to acquire the fundamentals concerning the MV and rather consider investigative activities for the beginning of the university

Full textThe massification of the Internet and computers has changed several aspects of our daily life and the way we apply to a job is not the exception. Nowadays, the recruitment and selection of applicants for a job is done through the use of information technologies, creating what it is known as e-Recruitment. Since the last 15 years, the researchers in Natural Language Processing have been studying how to improve the performance of recruiters with the help of the e-Recruitment. Several systems have been developed in this field, from the job and applicants search engines to the automatic ranking of applicants. In the last case, most of the developed systems consist in the comparison between the résumés of applicants and a job offer. Only one system makes use of résumés from past selection processes to rank newer applicants. In this thesis we study whether and how we can use the résumés, without having to use past selection processes, to develop new methods for e-Recruitment systems. More specifically, we start with the automatic treatment of a large set of résumés used during real recruitment and selection processes. Then, we analyze and apply different proximity measures to know which are the most adequate to study the résumés of applicants. We introduce, after, an innovative method which consists on the Relevance Feedback and the use of proximity measures over uniquely the résumés to rank applicants. Finally, we present the study and application of a statistical measure which allows us to compare, at the same time, the job offer, one specific applicant and the rest of applicants, in order to rank all the job candidates. Along this thesis we show that résumés have enough information about the selection processes, in order to rank the applicants. Nonetheless, it is important to choose correctly the proximity measure to use. As well, we present interesting outcomes from the triple comparison between résumés and job offers. The results obtained in this thesis are the basis for a new prototype of an e-Recruitment system and hopefully, the beginning of a new way to create these

Full textThe PhD presents and argues that the industrial technology is becoming an academicsubject. In high schools, the contemporary changes bring to light the final phase. The didactic and historical analysis, mainly led by the study of official regulations and speeches, tracks down the evolutions and the changes, by means of a model of examination of the school disciplines focusing on the missions, the organization (administrative and educational) and the education (the programs and the methods).Three main periods are identified: 1) the configuration of the technical education (1945-1958), its development and its structure; 2) the blending of the technology in high schools (1959-1984) by the unification of the education system; 3) the technology as an academic subject (1985-2012) from the primary school to the university, newly named the engineering sciences. This process comes within socio-political, economic and institutional context and is mainly defined by its missions of increasing qualifications. The examination of the functional analysis tools, employed to study the technical systems, reveals the elaboration of teachable contents. The contents changes, from the machines organ to the multitechnological systems, have been built one after the other, according to eight paradigms. On the one hand, the PhD reveals the process of "disciplinarization" of the technology and opens the discussion on the available researches about others disciplines. On the other hand, the PhD provides an original history of the technical education, the necessary sources for new researches and for understanding and supporting the contemporary changes

Full textDuring the 1980s and 1990s, in Brazil, the results of the psychogenetic research on the acquisition of writing, performed by Emilia Ferreiro and colleagues, were disclosed. The dissemination of this research results impacted the brazilian education, in a way that there was a review of the ways of thinking about the children literacy process. The psychogenesis of writing, by which the work of Emilia Ferreiro is known, was presented as a \"conceptual revolution\" on the literacy researches field, as it pointed out to the fact that learning to read and write is a conceptual learning, and not the acquisition of a technique of encoding and decoding writing, as literacy was, until then, treated. In São Paulo, the psychogenesis of writing was used as a theoretical framework for the development of the curriculum reference documents, thus basing considerations on teaching and learning the Portuguese Language in its early stages. Thus, the constituent terms of psychogenesis of writing transited between the spaces of academic productions, official and pedagogic, which leads us to consider that, while transiting through these spaces, the psychogenetics conception of the acquisition of written language went through discursive developments, becoming what, in the field of teaching practices is known as constructivism. In this paper, we investigate the process of the constitution of constructivism as a pedagogical discourse, presented as a conceptual revolution for the reconfiguration of the ways in which the discussions on literacy were organized until then, as well as the reconfiguration of the work of the literacy teacher.

Full textCESI school of engineering has implemented a PBL curriculum called A2P2 in its combined work and study engineering degree program since 2015. This curriculum revolves around cross-disciplinary projects carried out in small groups and was designed to professionalize students. This research work endeavours to question the challenges and assets of this learning environment as regards the professional identity construction of the future engineers. We first assumed that the program should positively affect their professional identity construction, but also advanced the hypothesis that its impact should differ from one student to another as students’ individual dispositions interact with the learning environment and thus affect their experiences. The research process involved gathering comprehensive data throughout the 3-year engineering program. A dual data collection approach was developed – a sampling, qualitative study (31 students) as well as quantitative data collection from the cohort (587 students), to infer development “profiles”. This student-centred methodology was supported by data triangulation, via external data collected from the tutors, from evaluation results. The data collected supports the theory of the school curriculum contributing to students’ identity development, through the iteration of efficient patterns of actions. They bring out several development profiles –professional identity dynamics, bolstered through specific resources and levers of development, depending on students’ set out goals for the training. The results point out that school and companies provide different levers to support students’ professional becoming

Indeed, this kind of training seems to be more efficient and less expensive than off-the-job training. In our research, we study a specific workplace curriculum which has been developed by Entreprise & Personnel association. The aim of our research is to examine the efficacy of this curriculum. Our theoretical framework draws together the work of Billett (1995, 1996, 2001, 2006) one of leader scholars of the field of Workplace Learning and Pastré (1999, 2005, 2011), one of the key researchers of the francophone field vocational didactic. It allows us to formulate 2 hypothesis:- the curriculum facilitates learnings and in particular scheme transformation process;- this curriculum facilitates learning because it affords opportunities that engage the learner. The data gathering procedures was conducted in the French power distribution company ERDF. They include interviews and observations of 21 technicians. Our findings show that hypothesis n°1 is confirmed for all the participants, and hypothesis n°2 for most of them. Our research invites researchers to examine the efficacy of curriculum in terms of scheme transformation process, workplace opportunities and individual engagement. Our findings confirm the interest of workplace curriculum. At the same time, it invites professionals to think critically of reflexivity and learning transfer questions. Our research was conducted under a partnership between Paris Ouest University and ERDF. Full textSince 2002, in a new domain of the mathematics entitled " quantity and measurement ", the authors ofthe curriculum suggest approaching the quantity through activities of direct, indirect comparison, byusing arbitrary standards measurement before introducing the conventional units and by drawing fromthe reservoir of activities that are the experimental sciences. These orders were at the origin of this work.An epistemological analysis of the concepts allowed us to show that the distinction "quantity/measurement", presented as natural, is relevant for this level of teaching. We looked for the origin of the curriculum's proposition by studying the texts of the primary schoolin sciences and mathematics since 1923. We noticed a decisive bend in the programs: following thereform of the modern mathematics, the study of quantity before measurement appears in sciences asin mathematics, leaning on the works of the contemporary psychologists. This study in both disciplineswill not be any more asked until 2002.In our work, we brought to light a bad control of the concepts of "quantity and "measurement " as wellas a misconception of "quantity" at the primary school teachers. Some of them are besides reluctantto adopt the approach described in curricula for all the quantities. We studied the impact of the comparison's activities with the use of arbitrary standards on theconstruction of the concept of mass and on the sense of moderation, by means of the implementationtwo comparative engineerings in 2nd year of primary school. Our results show that the level of pupil'sconceptualization, such as it is estimated by means of our criteria, is upper so much for the sense ofthe quantity than for that of the measure, at the pupils having lived a sequence introducing the massfrom comparison's activities out of the number

In its development, it has relied on theories of bilingualism, teaching-learning and discourse analysis to emphasize the analysis of video shows of twelve course sequences on the conditions and learning processes in four important disciplines: grammar, reading, calculation and science observations. This thesis has issued proposals for educational contributions for teachers to improve the meta-linguistic treatment of L1 and L2 and student’s learning. These proposals concern the assessment of student’s epilinguistic behavior, the comparison of L1 and L2 through the metalinguistic activities, the didactic reformulations in both languages, the use of the mixed method of reading and the assessment of student’s culture

Full textHe aim of the thesis is twofold. We conduct an inventory of what is actually taught throughout the first year of compulsory school. Thus, we characterize the evolution of the real curriculum while revisiting the partition between so-called teachable moments (sessions specified in the log book) and the time (qualified as “lost” by the provisional research) we refer to as proto teaching. At the same time, we study the dynamics of the duality “sense – efficiency” which is the center of the primary school teacher empowerment. The main theoretical anchor is ergonomic; it relies on professional and compared didactics. The results show the existence of a generic intermediate “How to teach in a Year 2 Class” which - during daily activities - takes the form of operational compromises that the primary school teacher carries out throughout the temporal dynamics of the school year. It originates in the desire to acculturate students to methods and school form modalisations in elementary school ; in the institutional social hierarchy of school subjects ; in the importance of learning to read at this level of class ; in the management of the didactic heterogeneity. For the sphere of teachers’ training, one result of this work would be to take into account the dual analysis of the day and time slot in order to implement new teaching engineering

Full textOur study analyzes the projects of common core (between 1993 and 2006) and core curriculum (between 1944 and 1977) from a double perspective: “democratization of selection” and “democratization of success”.On the opposite side from the institutional common core (2005-2006) which failed in getting out of the system of reference which is characteristic of the segregationist democratization of the French education system, the common core put forward by the Thélot committee is in keeping with a paradigm of “democratization of success”, the latter taking roots in a philosophical tradition which can be found in projects such as those defined by the Education minister René Billères (1956-1958) or the Langevin-Wallon committee. Beyond their different approaches, historical contexts or goals, the common point is the widening of a common culture for all, beyond an academic angle, which tend to promote a logic of selection. From the “democratization of success” point of view, the essential for everyone can only be gained within the framework of a “culture for all”

Full textThis thesis aims to demonstrate the effective implementation of a hybrid approach for learning French as a second language with the application of “Ticéitude”, a practical new concept for language learning in the 21st Century. This concept is a process of self-progression that targets the development of autonomy in the learner and for self-motivation, while also developing an autotelic personality, which means a certain “well-being” in the process of learning and teaching. Education is evolving due to today’s fast progress in digital technologies and is changing the course of history. Also because of this fast paced progress, we are currently witnessing new innovative approaches almost everywhere around the world. These challenges imply the importance of improving the quality of learning materials that is made available to the general populace. Our model, which is called Ticéitude, is aimed towards a humanistic approach of learning in the paradigm of “apprenance”. The notion of Ticéitude is to create links in a rich and diversified network. It is based on a socio-constructivist model, which encourages collaborative learning; thus reinforcing the motivation and autonomy of learners. In this instance, the model is based on the Australian context following the different curriculum in the various states and territory of this country. A hybrid approach has been put in place to create accelerated learning, based on the process of self-progression that targets the development of autonomy in the learner and for self-motivation, while also encouraging the development of an autotelic personality. In today’s world, we live in a cognitive society of networking when one can learn whenever or wherever he/she wants. The notion of “teacher” is changing as we focus more about coaching than teaching. The platform, which we created, allows individual learning with the guidance of the coach (teacher); thus teachers becoming more like peers. Teachers provide guidance to the students, suggest new approaches and at the same time participate to the network of a “group focused social learning”. Ticéitude implies the utilisation of new technologies but with a humanistic approach; so those tools are used effectively in a sustainable environment aimed to develop French learning not only in Australia but also around the world

Full textThis research stems from two questions: 1) What is the impact on scientific knowledge in management when it leaves the theoretical field of study to become an object of teaching? 2) Regarding the concepts taught in management how is it possible to preserve the initial strength they had when they were first introduced in the scientific field? The general issue of the articulation between epistemology and didactics in management leads to implement an original methodology for analysing a management concept in five steps: analyse the concept through a common sense approach and representations, study its scientific meaning from the treatises and works of great authors, identify the treatment of the concept in the national curriculum, study school textbooks, investigate the epistemological obstacles which hinder pupils from constructing the concept. This methodology applies here to the concept of decision, a central concept in management, which is precisely analysed in this research, and to the way it is apprehended didactically with a view to teaching students attending technological courses. Exploring the national curriculum and school textbooks has shown that the concept of decision adapted for teaching purposes is a specific construct which was created by textbook writers, half way between common sense and scientific sense. It has been made clear that the epistemological knowledge of management concepts is not enough to preserve their original strength. However the problematization of management concepts and the didactic study of their conceptualization require an epistemological culture

Full textIn Tunisia, enrollment rates in tertiary education had soared up over the past two decades. A significant increase of student annual flows imposed the implementation of reforms that led to an increase in the number of higher education institutions and universities. One of the challenges in Tunisia and many African countries is to improve the efficiency of education systems to promote employability and graduates employment. This thesis discuss the question of the efficiency of education from an economic approach based on returns to education in the labor market. The first chapter analyses private returns to education particularly higher education in African countries. Our findings highlight the large differences to RORE estimates across countries, particularly when it takes into account the employment rate. The second chapter focuses on the impact of university quality on labor market outcomes in Tunisia. The empirical results suggest that institutions selectivity and university professor’s qualifications seem to affect earnings of graduates. The third chapter focuses on the evaluation of reform of university curriculum providing entrepreneurship education to Tunisian university students. This research based on randomized assignment to the entrepreneurship track measure its impacts on labor market outcomes as well as on intermediary outcomes such as business skills and behavioral skills. This chapter underlines the role of entrepreneurship program

Full textThis research finds its justification in the spirit of the opening towards the modern foreign languages in the European Union. As, since January 2007, Romania has entered this big family, the teaching of modern foreign languages has become, more than ever, a priority. In this research we were interested in : - the place of the Romance languages and of the English language in the Romanian education system of today ; - the way in which the current official documents (school curricula, national curricula, school textbooks) of the Ministry of Education and Research of Romania integrates a new framework of the European Council, Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) ; - the current school textbooks of the Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish) and of English ; - the pedagogical activity in the teaching of various foreign languages. Nowadays, the ways of learning and teaching are numerous, but our analysis followsthe theoretical framework of CEFR, with the purpose of helping teachers, students and the authors of courses coordinate their efforts to enhance the quality of the teaching process. Our research opens the way for a deeper reflection as to the efficiency of the methods used today in the field of teaching foreign languages in high school. The modern Didactics tries to answer the requests of the society, proposing multiple strategies and adapted to form the students. The experience of the tradition associated with the capacity of innovation sets the new landmarks of school for a multicultural society. If the Romanian educational system wants to keep pace with the modernity, will have to continue the steps already made observing and applying the CEFR rules, to secure that the teachers are formed and are given the means to integrate this modernity in the actual teaching and practice in schools
