Abstract:
In this paper I utilized the currere method and my experiences as a tenure track hire. Currere provided a framework that allowed me to remember and then engage my ways of knowing and immerse myself in supportive contexts. Specifically, I was able to deepen my understandings, learn, imagine up, and over time shift my tenure track stories. The complex, sometimes hegemonic institutional narratives embedded along my tenure track, regularly resulted in tension. In response to the tension and because of my enactment of the currere, I was able to remember and reflect on what I know and value, think about who I am and who I am becoming, including who I want to be as a professor. This work includes photographs because once I gave myself permission to play, taking, viewing, and manipulating pictures became part of my shifting tenure track identity stories.

Abstract:
Being physically and spiritually attuned to the world around us forms the loom on which we weave our curricular understandings. Here, we strive to find the extraordinary in the ordinary and make room for a poetic way of attending to the lived curriculum. More than a way of doing research, we regard this way of being as a deep and disciplined presence with/in the world we inhabit. Through our own individual practices of walking the earth, our physicality explores the relationships between flesh and stone, and rain and tears, and the immediacy of the poetic takes form. Our walking practices open up the space not only to mindfulness, but bodyfulness, where the present moment has the capacity for the infinite. This type of active contemplation invites us into an expansive place where we can consider the very nature of education and its potential to foster or impede holistic teaching, learning, living, and being. Through writing together, we lift ourselves and each other out of the metaphorical and literal containment of our current contexts and find an invitation to walk and write into wonder.

Abstract:

Abstract: Universities Canada, Canada Council, and numerous sources urge the development of creativity and innovation capacity by leveraging broad interdisciplinary approaches, collaboration, and partnerships and networking; however, the relational mechanics of working together on interdisciplinary teams and in combinatory partnerships remain equivocal. Drawing on health care practices of interprofessional education, the authors present three tenets, a currere of team collaboration. They offer eight collaboratively created ekphrastic poems written for a curated international touring printmakers’ art exhibition and use their poetry writing process as a generative learning strategy and example for explaining how to frame a path to authentic collaboration. Keywords: Interdisciplinary research; Poetic inquiry; Ekphrasis; Collaborative research; Interprofessional education; Currere.

Abstract:
We engage in a creative exploration of the ways in which a walk provided us with insights into how we might enhance the curriculum for a teacher education international practicum in Italy. Drawing from a currere framework, we shifted to mindful walking, and we tell our story in three parts that represent the various stages of our mindful engagement: intention; attention; and attitude. Walking in this way provided the impetus for us to re-examine the curriculum of the international practicum. We argue that mindful walking has the potential to increase observation skills and open up ways to develop deeper cultural connections in an international practicum. We consider what those connections could do to enhance the practicum and our teacher candidates’ experience.

Abstract:
"Interlanguage Connections Reflected Lexicographically. A Comparative Study of Romanian, Italian and French. The present article focuses on the concept of etymological word family and the way in which it is reflected in three Romance languages – Romanian, Italian and French – by comparing the historical and cultural journey of one single Latin etymon. I have turned my attention to the Latin verb currere and its family, which have been inherited or borrowed in the three languages under discussion. Analysing the way in which these words are presented in the representative etymological and historical dictionaries (DELR for Romanian, DHLF for French and VLI for Italian), the productivity of the main etymon and its family and, implicitly, the underlying Latin model are discussed. The analysis emphasises both the situation from each individual language, and the inter-linguistic reality, making reference to the cultural contacts existing between the three languages and societies. Starting from an individual case, the main purpose of this study is to show the hereditary and cultural unity of Romanian, Italian and French and the way it has been reflected diachronically via linguistic means. Keywords: etymological word family, borrowing, inherited word, analogy, lexical derivation."

Abstract:
When a curriculum is created and then implemented, whether the curriculum is centralized or decentralized, both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes a centralized curriculum is appropriate for a particular area, but not suitable for other regions. As in rural or remote areas, it is difficult to adjust the progress of education in urban areas. There is an opinion which says that curriculum means vehicle (currere/Latin). No matter how reliable the vehicle is made, that reliability can only be achieved if the driver is competent enough. Success, professionalism and competence are in the hands of the teacher. Because basically the curriculum was made as good as possible by the compilers. However, along with its development, the curriculum is still undergoing changes so that it is not uncommon for there to be gaps in its implementation. For this reason, with an analysis of curriculum needs, it will be known about the distance or gaps, solutions and assessment of the education curriculum in Indonesia. With the direction of writing this paper, the problems are formulated as follows: What are the stages of curriculum development?, What are the application of the principles of curriculum development? Who are the elements involved in curriculum development? Keywords: curriculum, curriculum development, Arabic Language

Abstract:

Abstract:
PurposeThis duoethnography explores feelings of belonging that emerged as being relevant to the participants of a doctoral organisational change study. It challenges the prolific change management models that inadvertently encourage anti-belonging.Design/methodology/approachA change management practitioner and her doctoral supervisor share their dialogic reflections and reflexivity on the case study to open new conversations and raise questions about how communicating belonging enhances practice. They draw on Ubuntu philosophy (Tutu, 1999) to enrich Pinar's currere (1975) for understandings of belonging, interconnectedness, humanity and transformation.FindingsThe authors show how dialogic practice in giving employees a voice, communicating honestly, using inclusive language and affirmation contribute to a stronger sense of belonging. Suppressing the need for belonging can deepen a communication shadow and create employee resistance and alienation. Sharing in each other's personal transformation, the authors assist others in better understanding the feelings of belonging in organisational change.Practical implicationsPractitioners will need to challenge change initiatives that ignore belonging. This requires thinking of people as relationships, rather than as numbers or costs, communicating dialogically, taking care with language in communicating changes and facilitating employees to be active participants where they feel supported.Originality/valueFor both practice and academy, this duoethnography highlights a need for greater humanity in change management practices. This requires increasing the awareness and understanding of an interconnectedness that lies at the essence of belonging or Ubuntu (Tutu, 1999).

C., Daskalakos. "Dance as a complementary pedagogic tool in architectural education." South African Journal of Higher Education 36, no. 3 (2022): 6–31. http://dx.doi.org/10.20853/36-3-4439.

Abstract:
Architectural education is complex as it requires the development of both objective and subjective knowledge. While explicit knowledge that meets the trends in universities to create value by preparing students for industry, are easier to include in a curriculum, implicit knowledge based on personal experience that facilitates flexibility and creativity is more challenging. An example in the training of future architects is highlighted by the tendency to rely heavily on the visual sense in relation to buildings, which tends to objectify them, thereby ignoring their experiential components. The move towards digital applications in design further alienates the designers from this experiential aspect, as the technology leads to disembodiment and hence the sensitivity to subjective aspects of design. Design of space is influenced subconsciously by habitual patterns of behaviour embedded culturally and autobiographically in body memory. Dance as a complementary pedagogic tool can develop understanding of self and the body, bringing such habitual patterns into awareness. In addition to creating awareness, dance offers the tools to explore alternatives, creating a new meaning and relationship to space thus aiding the design skills of students. A curriculum that includes the subjective and autobiographical aspects of the student reflects the educational theory of Currere proposed by William Pinar and a pedagogic approach that reflects the theories of Georgio Agamben’s “rhythm” and Alfred Whitehead’s “cycles in learning”.

Abstract:
Aim/Purpose: This paper contributes to the scholarly literature on intersectionality and social injustice (invisibility, hypervisibility) in higher education and serves as a model for enacting doctoral education where research, theory, and practice converge. Background: Invisibility and hypervisibility have long been documented as social injustices, but very little literature has documented how doctoral students (who are also university employees) make meaning of intersecting privileges and oppressions within post-secondary hierarchies. Methodology: This study used a 10-week Duoethnography with co-researchers who were simultaneously doctoral students, staff, instructors, and administrators in higher education settings. Contribution: This paper offers a unique glimpse into currere—the phenomenon of theory and practice converging—to offer an intensive interrogation of life as curriculum for five doctoral students and a professor. Findings: This paper illuminates rich meaning-making narratives of six higher educators as they grappled with invisibility and hypervisibility in the context of their intersecting social identities as well as their varied locations within post-secondary hierarchies/power structures. Recommendations for Practitioners: Duoethnography can be an effective strategy for social justice praxis in doctoral programs as well as other higher education departments, divisions, or student organizations. Recommendation for Researchers: Researchers can use Duoethnography to explore a plethora of social justice issues in doctoral education and across staff, faculty, and Ph.D. student experiences within the power structures of post-secondary education. Impact on Society: Examining intersectionality, invisibility and hypervisibility is an important way to delve into the complexity of oppression. There will be no justice until all forms of oppression (including hypervisibility and invisibility) are extinguished. Future Research: Future research can more deeply explore social injustices and the intersections of not only social identities, but also social locations of doctoral students who are simultaneously employees and students in a university hierarchy.

Abstract:
Aggregatibacter Actinomycetemcomitans is one of the most aggressive pathobionts studied to the date. It encodes numerous putative toxins, the complex interplay of these toxins with the subgingival microbiota affects host defense mechanisms leading to rigorous destruction of the periodontium further causing loss of the tooth. The diversity in the field of oral microbiology has renewed interest among clinicians to study the bacterial species in particular. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive update on this commensal bacterium and co-relation of its virulence factors with the periodontal disease.
