Abstract:
The decline in visitors during the COVID-19 outbreak is one of the factors affecting the profitability of tourist destinations. This condition is challenging for developing tourist villages, especially the Hegarmukti tourist village. Several activity restrictions during the COVID-19 outbreak have made community-based tourism development programs experience obstacles. Through this community service activity, the 4C model analysis (Conservation, Community, Culture, and Commerce) is to be applied to optimize the growth of the Hergarmukti tourist village. The activity begins with a semi-formal interview process and observations to gather information. Through this activity, it was revealed that some potential has not been exploited, especially in terms of natural and cultural tourism. Socialization activities by conducting capacity-building workshops for preserving natural ecosystems through waste management were conducted with the Situ Rawa Binong residents. Besides, cultural promotion activities through local art performances displayed by the Cahaya Gumilar Art Gallery also attract tourists. To run a sustainable tourism village, the community requires soft skills training in tourism and marketing. The study also offers several possible tourist attractions to stimulate the local economy.

Abstract:
Cultural Tourism offers a strong motivation to preserve the elements of cultural heritage in tourist destinations. It helps to preserve cultural elements as important tourist attractions. Cultural tourism’s notion is unlimited to visiting monumental attractions only, but it has also become an interactive experience with the social fabric of the community through attending exhibitions, festivals and events, and the purchase of traditional local products. Thus, the human capital factor in tourism is linked to the quality of tourism products. With the growth of international tourism, the importance of sustainable tourism development has emerged to protect natural, cultural, and human resources, in addition to achieving economic development. As non-sustainable tourism development has led to the deterioration of tourism resources. This research paper examines if cultural tourism contributes to decrease tourism seasonality and achieve sustainable tourism development in cultural heritage sites. Research on heritage diversity in Indonesia is still very rare, but for cultural heritage that is almost the same is found in several scopes or aspects of heritage in Indonesia. The problem that occurs in Indonesia is that the development of cultural heritage diversity (heritage diversity) still has a lot to be addressed, and the utilisation of functions that have not been maximised even though relics in the past or cultural heritage are part or characteristic of a nation or country including tribes. The search results using Publish or Perish (PoP) also show the lack of research journals on heritage diversity and cultural heritage. Through VOS Viewer, it was found that heritage diversity or cultural heritage is very potential to be developed and researched because it is still very minimal, especially regarding local culture. Culture-based tourism (Cultural Tourism) is a type of tourism activity that utilises culture as a tourist attraction visited by tourists in these tourist destinations, tourists will experience and learn about certain cultures. If the tourism industry can be managed properly, then tourism can ensure the preservation of nature and culture. In addition, tourism can also be a forum for employment for local communities around the tourist area. This research is qualitative research using Bibliometric analysis. Abstract:
Tourism as social practice is inseparable from culture. The position of tourists towards culture is divided. Tourists primarily motivated by culture are not many. However, on the global tourist market this group represents a growing, exceptionally lucrative niche. Accidental and reluctant consumers of culture total some 45%. Through specific elements of cultural offer tourist marketing aims to attract both groups. A truly impressive and highly presentable national cultural heritage is a key element in the process of Croatian tourism revival and creation of a recognisable identity. The most immediate task is to define a relationship between culture and tourism, i.e. what tourism can gain through culture, how culture can be applied in tourism, and how profitable it is. Investigations of printed promotional materials indicate a lack of fundamental understanding on part of the tourist destination regarding the role of cultural heritage in tourism. This indicates the need for improved private-public sector collaboration and a better understanding of the sociodemographic traits, i.e. national habits and class pursuits of prospective tourists.

Abstract:
Tourists’ attitudes, especially when searching with a cultural tendency, can influence the tourism experience in cultural heritage tourism. Based on the cultural contact theory and tourist involvement theory, we try to reveal the tie or the relationship between local culture and tourism. Here, we define cultural tendency as the extent to which tourists positively intend to learn about the culture of the destination. Then, we examined the roles of cultural tendency, involvement, tourist experience, and satisfaction in heritage tourism and proposed a tendency–involvement–experience (TIE) model. Using a questionnaire with tourists in Mogao Caves, a world heritage site, we found that cultural tendency through involvement enhanced tourism experience and satisfaction. Moreover, the tendency of different cultures had various effects on tourists’ experiences. Prior knowledge did not play a moderating role on the relationship among cultural tendency and involvement. The findings underscore the importance of cultural tendency in creating experiences, and heritage tourism must address tourists’ preferences for a better experience.

Abstract:
Purpose With the worldwide growth of the Chinese tourism market, a number of studies have emerged, that attempt to understand the phenomenon, including the influence of Chinese culture on Chinese tourist behavior. This research aims to answer four questions: How has Chinese culture been adopted in tourism literature? What is the current state of tourism research on Chinese culture? What are the similarities, differences and research gaps between international and Chinese studies in this area of investigation? What are the directions that future tourism research will take? Design/methodology/approach The articles for this systematic review were published in major international hospitality and tourism journals and Chinese journals over a period of 20 years (1993-2012). A meta-review was carried out on 80 Chinese and English tourism literature dating from 1993 to 2012. Findings This review showed that Chinese culture has been fragmentally operationalized due to underdeveloped Chinese cultural theories in tourism, independent and unrelated extant cultural systems and perspectives and lack of empirical testing for theory development. Two major theoretical systems of Chinese culture in tourist research were revealed in this review: cross-cultural theory and traditional Chinese cultural framework. The current state of tourism research on Chinese culture was also analyzed. The similarities, differences and research gaps were identified between international and Chinese studies on this inquiry. Implications for future tourism research in this area were suggested. Research limitations/implications Unveiling the evolving research progress of a single culture helps to provide a deeper insight into how culture was used to analyze the behavior of individual tourist markets, and hence to better understand a particular tourist market. Originality/value This research has synthesized a wide range of literature to unveil the extant understanding of Chinese culture as reflected in Chinese tourists and outline the ways forward in this area of investigation.

Abstract:
Purpose – Urry’s model of Tourism Gaze as described by Woodside is problematic, in that tourist participant observers change the phenomenon they observe. The purpose of this study is to present an alternative model that better represents the dialectic between tourists and the destination culture. Design/methodology/approach – A story-telling technique, based upon personal experience and introspection that matches the story told by Woodside, is used to illustrate the theory development and formulate an alternative model. Findings – A new model is proposed that acknowledges that the more a tourist lives their tourism experience and becomes immersed in the destination culture, the greater the affect he/she has upon the destination. The issue of authenticity is discussed in relationship to this new model, as – in a sense – the experience of a one-time traveler is as authentic as those of a long-term stay tourist. Practical implications – The practical implications are both for tourist operators and policymakers. Cultures change, regardless of any tourism activity; but, such activity is a major change-agent, especially so as the emerging Asian countries discover the pleasures of “globe-trotting”. Although the cultural experience of tourists will remain authentic, large-scale tourism projects will inevitably change the culture the tourists sought to experience in the first place. The value of alternate tourism strategies based on the tourist’s impact upon the host culture is becoming increasingly critical. Originality/value – The new model is simple but effective, and is more pragmatic and accurate than the original tourist gaze model of Urry. The introspective, story-telling, methods used are more typical of academic marketing than tourism research, but serve the purpose here well by making the conceptual idea readily available to the reader.

Abstract:
Abstract The idea of sustainable tourism is closely related to the aspects of the economy, environment and socio-cultural. In short, sustainable tourism aims to economically empower the people in potential tourism areas without disturbing the balance of natural biodiversity and the established social relations among them. Along with sustainable tourism development, governments are also eager to speed up the use of renewable energy in tourism sites. However, the government tends to increase the installation of modern infrastructure to produce renewable energy for tourist areas. As a consequence, the development of sustainable tourism requires more budget and technical coordination between stakeholders, while it might affect the safety of local people. This research proposes the term “energy culture” as an integral part of sustainable tourism. In this concept, the related parties shall encourage the utilization of the energy source from local potential. This energy culture will strengthen the value of sustainability in developing tourist attractions. It helps preserve the material culture of energy, norms, and practices to provide a sustainable energy source to the people.

Islamic tourism encompasses the exploration of Islamic history, culture, and religion. One form of Islamic travel is mosque tourism, which involves visiting mosques to appreciate their beauty, history, and culture. Mosque tourism can facilitate cultural exchange, economic growth, historical preservation, and promote respect and understanding between civilizations, leading to a higher level of mosque tourism satisfaction. Understanding the historical, aesthetic, architectural, religious, and cultural significance of a mosque, as well as its accessibility and tourist amenities, are essential components of mosque tourism. This type of tourism encourages intercultural harmony by offering individuals from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to comprehend and respect each other's cultures and religious beliefs. Nonetheless, the growing number of Muslim tourists also poses challenges to the travel industry's efforts to promote mosque tourism, which are explored in this comparative study of Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. These nations have made significant efforts to promote mosque tourism.

Tourism is an important, even vital, source of income for many regions and countries. Increased leisure time and changes in lifestyle and consumption have given renewed importance to tourism. Travel outside a person's local area for leisure was largely confined to wealthy classes, who at times travelled to distant parts of the world, to see great buildings, works of art, learn new languages, experience new cultures, and to taste different cuisines. Tourism also encourages respect for and preservation of monuments and heritage properties.” At the interface between culture and tourism lies a series of deep and challenging issues relating to how we deal with issues of political engagement, social justice, economic change, belonging, identity and meaning. Tourism is a cultural phenomenon. It both impacts cultures and society, and is shaped by cultures and society. There is a deep influence of tourists and tourism on host country. Tourism is genuinely powerful and unique force for change in the community. Tourist impact has been most noticeable in lesser developed countries but is not entirely restricted to them. The cultural impact of tourism is concerned with the question of protecting and maintaining the cultural heritage and certain allied issues. Abstract:
The trivialisation of Balearic culture is often associated with the invasive deployment of tourist activity. The promotion of tourism has used some of the most representative cultural elements of the Balearic Islands as objects devoid of their cultural significance. Despite this, on occasions there has been a positive link between tourism and culture, from which enriching experiences have been derived. Identifying them is the first step in demonstrating that it is possible to offer a diversified tourism model that offers culture for the benefit of society as a whole. The main objective of this article is to provide an overview of the role that culture has played in the tourism sector in the Balearic Islands from the pre‐tourist period to the 2019 Integral Tourism Plan. It also aims to establish which cultural elements have been most closely linked to tourism supply and demand. To this end, a series of bibliographical and documentary sources have been analysed to prove that culture has been involved in tourist activity even before the promotion of this industry. Likewise, from the 20th century onwards, there are proposals which have used the diverse cultural manifestations of the Islands as an element of diversification with the main objective of avoiding summer seasonality, but also to improve the tourist offer and counteract the importance of mass tourism. Nevertheless, it cannot be said that they have had a real impact on the diversification and improvement of tourism.

Tourism is an industrial sector that is proliferating and promises benefits to large groups of people. This growth encourages the formation of tourist destinations consisting of infrastructure, supporting communities, and tourist attractions in many places. Some tourist destinations highlight the culture of the people as part of a tourist attraction. Using local culture as a tourist attraction will inevitably lead to a shift in the values and meanings of the culture. Culture consists of three dimensions; artifacts, behaviors, and ideas. Dimensions of ideas from culture include, among others, beliefs and knowledge that are owned and passed down from generation to generation through formal and non-formal education processes. In the context of culture as a tourist attraction, the dimensions of local cultural ideas will adapt to the tourism paradigm. Local beliefs will become a part of an economic system that emphasizes uniqueness in its interactions with other beliefs. Local knowledge, which includes factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive knowledge, initially a process of adaptation of local communities to their environment, is now part of the tourism paradigm. Because of its global nature, the tourism paradigm is a paradigm that has universal standards. Therefore, epistemological awareness is needed to meet the dimensions of local cultural ideas and the global tourism paradigm. The results showed that tourists’ perceptions of local tourism culture in Wuxi are mainly focused on religious culture, landscape and garden culture, and historical culture. Further analysis revealed an obvious structural mismatch between the tourists’ perceptions and the supply of local cultural tourism resources. The findings suggest that the focus should be on the clustered development of tourism culture in Wuxi, the branding of Wu Culture, and the strengthening of the association between scenic spots in the future.

Langzhong City has abundant cultural and tourism resources, with numerous famous cultural and tourism attractions such as Langzhong Ancient City and Tengwang Pavilion. At the same time, the Langzhong Municipal Government also closely adheres to the goal of "high-quality construction of world ancient city tourism destinations" and unwaveringly adheres to the development strategy of "strengthening the city through industry and revitalizing the city through culture and tourism". However, there are many problems in the Japanese translation and promotion of cultural and tourist attractions in Langzhong City, which will greatly constrain the healthy development of the tourism industry in Langzhong City. Therefore, this article focuses on studying the Japanese translation issues of famous cultural and tourist attractions in Langzhong City, including the Japanese translation gaps of scenic spots, as well as the mistranslation and omission of some scenic spots. Based on this, targeted translation strategies are proposed to address the issues of Japanese translation gaps, inconsistent Japanese names, mistranslation and omission of unique cultures (such as Spring Festival culture), and Chinese Japanese expressions in Japanese translated texts of cultural and tourist attractions in Langzhong City.

Instead of focusing either on the framing that structures the image production, or on the tourist images themselves, I shall propose a methodological approach that puts these two strands together. A touring experience in Yupik-Chukchi hamlet New Chaplino, Russia is analysed on the basis of Michael Yampolski’s concept of mimetic seeing (Yampolski, 2001); it corresponds to the key aspects of ethno-tourism – ethno-topian desire and cultural appropriation. In contrast, non-mimetic seeing parallels post-tourism. The study proposes a third category – doubling that reflects cultural interaction between the hosts and guests, in which Other is fully recognized. It is maintained that photographs do not serve just as traces of perception of other culture but also as ways of representation, which are acceptable in the local culture.
