Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to describe students' critical thinking skills in Plant Ecology courses through inquiry learning. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive research with one group pretest-posttest research design (single group design with pretest-posttest). Data collection techniques used pretest and posttest to measure students' critical thinking skills in understanding during learning. Research data on critical thinking skills from the pretest and posttest were analyzed by calculating the N-gain value. N-gain results indicate that the use of inquiry models can improve students' critical thinking skills. Students’ posttest data were analyzed descriptively to describe students' critical thinking skills through inquiry learning. The highest average score on the first indicator, which is focusing on questions, gotscore of 73.64, in the criteria of sufficient. The lowest average score is found in two indicators, namely the indicator asking and answering questions and the indicator considering whether the source is reliable or not. Both indicators got a score of 70 in the criteria of sufficient. On average all indicators of critical thinking skills of students got a score of 71.27 in the criteria of sufficient. The conclusion is that the Inquiry learning is able to improve students' critical thinking skills in the medium criteria.

Abstract:
Catastrophic regime shifts in complex natural systems may be averted through advanced detection. Recent work has provided a proof-of-principle that many systems approaching a catastrophic transition may be identified through the lens of early warning indicators such as rising variance or increased return times. Despite widespread appreciation of the difficulties and uncertainty involved in such forecasts, proposed methods hardly ever characterize their expected error rates. Without the benefits of replicates, controls or hindsight, applications of these approaches must quantify how reliable different indicators are in avoiding false alarms, and how sensitive they are to missing subtle warning signs. We propose a model-based approach to quantify this trade-off between reliability and sensitivity and allow comparisons between different indicators. We show these error rates can be quite severe for common indicators even under favourable assumptions, and also illustrate how a model-based indicator can improve this performance. We demonstrate how the performance of an early warning indicator varies in different datasets, and suggest that uncertainty quantification become a more central part of early warning predictions.

Abstract:
Urban transport infrastructures (TIs) play a central role in an urban society that faces more and more disasters. TIs, part of critical infrastructures (CIs), are highly correlated with urban disaster management in terms of their resilience when cities are facing a crisis or disaster. According to many studies, indicator assessment has been frequently used for the resilience management of CIs in recent decades. Defining and characterizing indicators can be useful for disaster managers as it could help monitor and improve the capacities and performance of TIs. The purpose of this paper, therefore, is (1) to identify and summarize the existing indicators of TIs resilience from the currently available literature, and (2) to discuss the possible future studies of the resilience indicator of TIs. The first results indicated that there are some barriers to identify indicators following the common search method through keywords. Additionally, the indicators found are mainly related to technical information, the disruption stage, and internal TIs. Finally, due to the complexity of indicator assessment, sub-indicators and indicator spatialization are widely used in the resilience assessment of urban TIs studies.

Abstract:
The ability to think critically is one of the abilities that must be mastered by students and has an important role in the mathematics learning process. Based on initial observations, it shows that the critical thinking skills of fifth graders at SD Negeri Tindoi are still low. This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills on the flat-shaped material. This research is a qualitative research. This study uses 4 indicators of critical thinking skills according to Robert Ennis, namely providing simple explanations, making further explanations, determining strategies and tactics, and concluding. The subjects in this study were 9 students of class V SD Negeri Tindoi, consisting of 3 male students and 6 female students. Data collection was carried out by written tests, interviews, and document studies. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The technique of checking the validity of the data is using the triangulation technique. Based on the results of the study, it was shown that the critical thinking skills of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri Tindoi belonged to the low category. This can be seen by the number of students who have low critical thinking skills as many as 4 students, 2 students with sufficient critical thinking skills, and 3 students with very low critical thinking skills out of 9 students. The students' critical thinking ability on each indicator in solving the problem of flat shape material shows different results in each category of critical thinking ability, namely: 1) Students with sufficient critical thinking ability have been able to meet three indicators of critical thinking ability, namely the indicator provides an explanation. simple, determine strategies and tactics and conclude. 2) Students with sufficient critical thinking skills have been able to meet two indicators of critical thinking skills, namely indicators of providing simple explanations, determining strategies and tactics, and 3) Students with very low critical thinking skills are only able to meet one indicator of critical thinking skills, namely indicators provide a simple explanation.

Abstract:
This paper deals with general problems of indicator collection and introduces a new datapresentation method, named the circle-map method. The advantages of this method is demonstrated by collecting a wide spectrum of Scandinavian and Baltic rock types in two Danish localities. It is concluded that an indicator count should be made in situ and comprise at least 50 stones, and that the rock types used should represent parent areas as evenly distributed as possible throughout the Scandinavian and Baltic regions. The circle maps indicate the routeway of ice flow from the Scandinavian mountains to the locality dealt with. It emphasizes variations in indicator content and may, therefore, show the lateral displacement of ice-flow routes which should be expected from a glaciological point of view. In addition, the method makes it possible to distinguish between directly brought stones and contaminating stones.

Abstract:
Standard finite elements can exhibit the numerical artifact of intra-plyshear locking during forming simulations. The displacement fields of elementsare piecewise continuous and cannot correctly capturediscontinuities in the shear field. This shear locking is illustrated insimulations of bias-extension experiments with an unaligned mesh. Two simpletests were developed as a critical indicator of intra-ply shear locking intriangular elements. A single-element-test shows the origin of the locking anda pull-out test indicates locking caused by small misalignments of theelements.

Abstract:
Preferred orientation in textured ceramics is often assessed by comparing the relative intensities of x-ray diffraction reflections to those of a randomly oriented ceramic using the Lotgering degree of orientation (f). However, this paper provides evidence that indiscriminate assessments of f can be misleading. Using measured intensities of a modestly textured tape cast bismuth titanate (Na0.5Bi4.5Ti4O15) ceramic, calculated f values vary from 7.4 to 73.2% depending on the reflections included in the calculation. The texture is also quantified by calculating the orientation distribution function (ODF) using measured pole figures. A model is then presented that demonstrates f is nonlinear with the multiple of preferred (00l)-orientations, the standard unit of the 00l pole figure.

Geological and geostatistical characterisation of reservoir heterogeneities is becoming increasingly popular for the maximisation of oil production from existing oil fields. Many geostatistical techniques, such as kriging, fractal and indicator kriging, have become available either in published or commercial forms. There is, however, little information available and even fewer comparisons between methods to guide users in this area. This paper compares oil recovery performance based on different geostatistical models generated by kriging, fractal and indicator kriging techniques with a constructed synthetic model typical of a fluvial-deltaic sequence.

: This research aims to describe students' mathematical critical thinking ability in solving circle problems according to indicators of critical thinking ability. The subjects of this study were class IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Pangkalan Kerinci consisting of twenty-one students based on low, medium, and high academic abilities. The instruments used in this study were question sheets to measure critical thinking skills which consist of four circle material questions with each indicator containing one question, and interview guidelines to find out the reasons for not achieving critical thinking skills indicators. The data analysis technique starts from collecting data on students' KBKM test results, student work results are grouped according to the achievement of each indicator, and the achievement of each indicator is analyzed to find out the causes of the non-achievement of these indicators. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills were low with an achievement percentage of 48%. Students with high abilities have been able to interpret problems and make analyzes but there are still students who are wrong in student calculations, students in the middle category have been able to interpret problems and analyze but for inference and evaluation have not been complete, students in the low category have not been able to interpret problems as well as analysis and evaluation to conclude a math problem.

Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the critical thinking skills of students at MTs Negeri Tarakan through the implementation of online learning. This pre-experimental research used one shot case study design. The research subjects were students of class VIII C of MTs Negeri Tarakan, where sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique. The data was obtained from the results of critical thinking ability test in the form of description questions. The results of the one sample t-test showed that the t-count = -17.106 with dk= 34 and the t-table = 1.691. As the t-count t-table, the Ho was accepted, meaning that the average value of students’ critical thinking skills was lower than 70. The percentage of achievement of each indicator or critical thingking ability were 52% for providing a simple explanation (modearate category), 39% for concluding indicators (low category), 56% for providing further explanation (moderate category), and 71% for setting strategies and tactics (high category). The average achievement of critical thingking ability indicators was 54% (moderate category). Thus, it was necessary to train students’ critical thingking skills through the learning process by using the right model and applying critical thinking indicators. Abstract:
The objective of this paper is to analyze the extent to which the system of indicators that is used in the Monitoring Framework for the transition to the circular economy (CE) is efficient and relevant in their contribution to the sustainable development of European communities. The fundaments of the transition framework and the main characteristics of the circularity indicators are presented. A critical review was performed in order to fulfill the objective of analyzing the current indicators. It is concluded that the indicators in the current framework are (as a selection from a very broad range of indicators theoretically proposed and with estimated practical applicability) limited from the perspective of circularity only to waste generation and recycling processes containing recyclable materials, without including important circularity indicators related to the prolonging and extending the life cycle of products and materials. This paper proposes and defines such an indicator, based on the consideration of the fundamental scalars describing economy, mass, energy, time, and value, respectively. The indicator is described and its applicability in all the phases of the economy is estimated.

Abstract:
Aim. The evaluate the possibility of predicting critical incidents development during elective surgery using Duke University activities of daily living questionnaire, a six-minute walk test, cardiopulmonary exercise testing.Methods. 36 patients who had undergone elective abdominal surgery were included in the study. To determine the functional state in preoperative period patients filled in Duke University activities of daily living questionnaire, performed a 6-minute walk test, cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Critical incidents analysis was conducted by E.A. Kazakova method (2005) at two stages: induction and maintenance of anesthesia. Using statistical methods the most informative indicators for predicting critical incidents were determined.Results. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that only the anaerobic threshold and 6-minute walk test significantly contributed to predicting critical incidents. At the same time, ROC-analysis demonstrated the predictive value of using only the anaerobic threshold to determine the likelihood of critical incidents. It was found that this indicator threshold value is 10.85 ml/kg per minute with 100% sensitivity and 95% specificity. It is also proved that the patients’ subjective assessment leads to an overestimation of their functional state.Conclusion. Anaerobic threshold indicator determined by a cardiopulmonary exercise testing can be used as a criterion for predicting critical incidents development; reduction in the anaerobic threshold of less than 10.85 mL/kg per minute indicates the likelihood of critical incidents development with a high level of sensitivity and specificity.

Abstract:
The movement to develop indicators that provide a more nuanced view of quality of life (QoL) continues to gain momentum and support in both scientific and policy-making circles. However, measuring QoL still faces a number of challenges. While a range of indicator sets has been developed, it is unclear whether any of them is able to adequately capture the broad range of conditions it encompasses. In addition, it has yet to be determined whether different dimensions of QoL can be meaningfully integrated in one indicator or if separate indicators need to be employed alongside each other for clear and reliable scientific results and policy advice. In this article, we aim to contribute to answering these open questions. To that end, we offer a framework, grounded in the literatures on well-being and sustainable development, for unpacking the QoL concept, and categorize and evaluate different existing indicator sets in terms of their ability to measure this concept of QoL. Moreover, we identify the challenges involved in integrating two very distinct aspects of QoL in one indicator.

Abstract:
This paper x-rayed the concept, measurement and, patterns of economic development. In doing this, the paper reviewed a vast literature on concepts, measurement of economic development and, economic development patterns and their effects on growth indicators as well as on the quality of life components. This literature was sourced from known academic databases. From the overview of the concept, measurement of economic development and, economic development patterns and their relationship between growth indicators as well as the quality of life components the following were found; as new challenges emerge, the horizon of the concept of economic development expands to accommodate the prevailing challenges. Economic development has no conventional measure/indicator that completely captures it process and, there are various economic development patterns use in tackling the problem of economic growth and quality of life, some of which are; knowledge-based, trade-based, saving-based and ethnic-religious-based pattern. Future studies may use these concepts/measurements of economic development and patterns of economic development and, validate their significance using statistical methods.
