Abstract:
This paper analyses the implementation of integration and interconnection approaches among undergraduate thesis in the department of Comparative Religion (now Religious Studies) at the Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It shows that 62% of the undergraduate theses have implemented semipermeable model, 38% intersubjective testability, and none of them have implemented creative imagination. The absent of creative imagination model is understandable because referring to the Indonesian Qualification Framework Curriculum (KKNI) that the competency of S1-student is on the standard 6th: which is capable for doing analyses. The creative imagination model seems to fit more for student at doctoral level (standard 9th), in which they are required to find new theories in their doctoral thesis.

Abstract:
This article addresses the use of Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs) as a (curricular) tool to develop mathematical creativity and identify students who are creatively gifted in mathematics. The thesis of this article is that by using MEAs, gifted educators can: (a) provide students with opportunities to develop creative and applied mathematical thinking; and (b) analyze students’ mathematical thinking when engaged in creative mathematical tasks, aiding in the identification of those students who are especially talented in domain-specific, mathematical creativity. The authors’ conclude that MEAs have potential for both developing and identifying creatively gifted mathematicians in the middle grades.

Abstract:
In this study, pretest-posttest control group design thesis in experimental models was investigated by meta-analysis for preschool , primary and secondary school mathematics classes based on creative drama method, between years 2000-2020 which are accepted by universities in Turkey. 3doctoral theses and 20 master's theses that are suitable for the problem of this research and have sufficient statistical data were included in the meta-analysis. In the analysis of data, meta-analysis of transaction effectiveness was used. In this study, the effect of creative drama method on students' academic achievement, retention(remembering) and affective (attitude) scores were examined. As a result of meta-analysis calculations, the effect size value of creative drama method on students' academic achievement scores was 0.926, the effect size on retention scores was 1.414 and the effect size value on attitude scores was 0.600. These values determined as a result of the analysis; shows that the effect size is wide for academic success and retention and medium for attitude. According to these findings, the academic success and retention of creative drama method in preschool and elementary mathematics lessons is wide; it can be said that it affects attitude at a moderate level significantly.

Abstract:
AbstractThe paper deals with social and family conditions for the development of creative thinking. It is a voice in the dispute between supporters of the view that creative thinking is inherited and supporters of the thesis that it is shaped socially and within the process of education. The author presents an argument for the role of childhood and the mother in shaping creative predispositions. An attempt at polemics with concepts such as the “creative school” or the “creative teacher” is made.

Abstract:
The title of this compilation of my own creative writings is Trees, Breathe, Paper. This unique collection of poetry, short stories and prose contains a range of work, composed from 2002-2012. The thematic goal of this undertaking is to ballast as many implicit and explicit meanings as are comprehensible, and to extrapolate a distinct spectrum of latent and straightforward explanations with discernible psycho-analytical accuracy. We all know poetry is truly formless and based on springs of natural inspiration. Thus, we derive our purest inspiration from the natural world and we prune it in its unfiltered, raw state. Poetry is an externality that materializes from thin air.

Abstract:
Feathers is a young adult novel about two knucklehead boys and a summer of mischief they share. Boots and Gopher, the two principal characters in Feathers, are twelve-year old boys who are fascinated by a loft of racing pigeons kept by a peculiar man living on the edge of their small town. The fascination leads them to steal a few pairs of pigeons in hopes of generating their own loft. Their plan is to release the adult pigeons back to the man's loft while Boots and Gopher keep the babies. In stealing the pigeons, they discover the man also houses falcons and hawks. Gopher becomes obsessed with falcons and begins a study of falconry. The obsession overrides better judgment and federal law, and the boys also steal a small kestrel falcon. They don't realize the gravity of the situation until a "wanted" poster is put up at the local feed store letting people know that a federal law has been broken. The story continues with the resolution of this conflict and the relationship that is developed between the young men and the old falconer. It is a story about consequences of seemingly simple acts; it also explores relationships between the boys and their parents, and between the boys and an unlikely mentor.

This collection of short stories explores the different ways women tolerate violence in exchange for some form of validation. The narratives focus on women and the reverberations of small moments which carry violent mass. While the violence occasionally includes physical elements, the collection is more concerned with the ways women accept emotional and psychological violence—specifically from men. Themes, motifs and symbols from the Clytie-Helios myth are threaded throughout the collection as well as a concern for space and touch, art and the creation of art, silence and voice. All of these elements involve control as the women characters in these stories struggle to resist their own objectification. A critical introduction which explains how form and language amplify story precedes the collection.

This collection of short stories explores the different ways in which women experience suffering. The narrative focuses on the daily lives of women who have undergone some type of heartbreak. While the stories occasionally include the incident which leads to despair, the collection is more concerned with the way women function after a personal tragedy. The stories show the grace of people who continue to move forward when their lives are filled with suffering. Sexuality enters the stories and exposes both the triumph and destructive nature of sexuality. Abstract:
This is a high fantasy novel about Iníon Ríúil, a girl who discovers she has the ability to manipulate magic. Two weeks before Iní's seventeenth birthday, thieves attack their home and her grandmother is murdered. After her grandmother's death, Iní goes in search of the father she has never met and ends up joining the Magical Alliance, where she learns more about her unique skills. Iní is a full conduit, someone who possesses all four of the possible conduit abilities: shielding, absorption, transformation, and amplification. Because someone has been kidnapping other conduits, the Magical Alliance assigns guardians for her protection: a goblin, an elf, and another being whose exact race is unknown. Iní and her guardians are assigned to find out more about the bloodstone, an ancient relic made to function the same as conduits, something the Races thought long destroyed. They suspect the dragons to be looking for the bloodstone and worry its discovery could start a war. The culminating challenges in the novel involve Iní finding the bloodstone and learning the identity of her father.

Abstract:
The following Creative Nonfiction Thesis delves into the suppressed past of a girl who experienced brief episodes of adolescent epilepsy. She was diagnosed with Rolandic seizures when she was eight years old and eventually “grew out” of them when she hit puberty. Since that time, the author had not spoken of these events with her family. The topic of her epilepsy remained, somewhat, the elephant in the room until the epilepsy discontinued. She interviewed her mother and her sister to see the perspectives of those people who were closest to her throughout this era. Through these interviews, the author learns of what her family truly experienced and their opinions of these events. These events largely affected the past and future relationship between her mother, her sister, and the relationship the author has with herself.

Abstract:
The genre of fantasy contains texts which are unlike, or distance from, the real or empirical world--the world of the reader's experience. Nevertheless, fantasy texts can reveal truths which are relevant to the empirical world, and thus fantasy texts can be said to have cognitive value. The notion of possible worlds, the semiotic theory of metaphor, and a discussion of ambiguity are the three critical approaches used to investigate the cognitive value of fantasy texts. The stories in this collection provide a sampler of fantasy figures--such as mermaids, ghosts and living mummies--and make use of the emotional power of ambiguity.

Abstract:
Abstract These two stories, written in first person, are two statements on the nature of self-love, romance, and loneliness. Embers voices a girl in a dying relationship as she tries to establish human connections before her best and only friend leaves the country. Crossing Paths is Jonathan’s beginning, an awakening triggered by a move to a new, uncanny and thickly forested environment. He begins the story as a grim, solitary figure, and through a gradual series of risks and victories, he succeeds in escaping his solitude and building a more complete life for himself. Though the two protagonists are separated my age, distance, and profession, the conclusions of both stories make similar statements with regards to the value of human connection, romantic and otherwise.

Abstract:
This paper describes an interdisciplinary approach to a creative arts honours collaboration that set aside a conventional approach to facilitate an experimental methodology to support greater creative innovation and knowledge acquisition. This paper examines an honours study which explored analogue and digital hybridity in board game design. The methodology employed a practice-led research approach with the Double Diamond design process model used to structure the study. A structured and critical reflective practice model was used to identify and analyse the thinking present within the creative project. A core innovation of this approach was the shift from a focus on a finalised project consisting of a separate creative work and critical thesis, to a study where the critical and creative work were still separate, but included a greater focus on process and prototyping as a means to engage with design principles, rather than a finalised product or artefact. Lessons from the collaboration are identified to inform interdisciplinary honours in the future.

Abstract:
In Japan it is a common practice that the student at the senior year in engineering education needs to conduct a thesis work as a part of the graduation requirement. In most cases he or she becomes a member of a specific research laboratory where the professor provides a thesis project for the student to complete within a year. Engineering Clinic Program (ECP) at the Kogakuin University (KU) is an industry-academia cooperation program where the company provides a project for the students who work together as a team of four to five. ECP replaces the traditional thesis work for the graduation requirement. All projects in ECP coming from the industry are of open-end and of most advanced technology so that the students work on the real world problems just like the engineer in the company. The technical liaison from the company together with the faculty advisor guides the students, although they never give the solution to them. They should come up with some solutions to the problem within the limited timeframe and thus the creative ability and also management capability are cultivated. The students learn how to apply the knowledge learned at class to solving a real engineering problem. The problems the industry provides to ECP are of wide variety and also multidisciplinary in the engineering field. Among them, presented herein are two fluid dynamic problems handled in ECP in the past,: 1) development of accurate droplet measurements in intravenous injection pump, and 2) study of a journal bearing for Jet Pump. How these fluid dynamic problems provided from the industry were handled by the students with the help of the liaisons and advisors are described in this paper.

Abstract:
Sound is a neglected subject of today’s products and services. The new technologies changed the way we interact with the people, objects and the world around us, thus, designers should aim at all senses, contemplating a multi sensorial experience. In this scenario sound becomes an important aspect to be considered during the project phase in a design process. Sound becomes part of the product identity and expression, the way the product talks to us. To foster this scenario designers should be aware of the possibilities and attributes of sound and how to explore them in a creative way. In this short paper we investigated published articles, workshops and publications to collect sound methods and techniques to be used into a design process. As a result, we proposed twenty essential sound methods that could be applied in a design thinking context. This is an ongoing research, part of a thesis experiment, since further methods and refinement could be added in the future.

Creative placemaking has been evolving from a narrow definiti on of applying art and design ideas to community projects into a more expansive, equity-focused field of practice. As the funder consortium Art Place America describes it, “Creati ve placemaking happens when artists and arts organizations join their neighbors in shaping their community’s future, working together on place-based community outcomes. It’s not necessarily focused on making places more creative; it’s about creatively addressing challenges and opportunities…. creative placemaking at its best is locally defined and informed and about the people who live, work, and play in a place.”

The interpretive approach, usually employed to analyze media text as a complex synthetic structure, was also taken into consideration. The analytical method application identified the modern means of substantiating the ideological, esthetical and informative value of brand journalism and spin doctor. The innovative character of modern media as a behavioral strategy in the advertising and PR industry consists in the fact that it is a form of creative production and behavior rather than adapting a specific communication situation. The article examines the main directions of contemporary interactions between PR, advertising and journalism as a media content creation. In this context, it is asserted that advertising, journalism and PR activities can contribute to the creation of media content. At some point, good media content is achieved not only as a result of this competition but also from the correlation between PR, advertising and journalism.

Susantono, Bambang, and Robert Guild, eds. Creating Livable Asian Cities. Asian Development Bank, April 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.22617/sgp210110.

Full text
Abstract:
This book explores how Asia’s fast-growing cities can fulfil their potential as engines of economic prosperity and provide a livable environment for all citizens. But for this to happen, major challenges that reduce urban communities’ quality of life and economic opportunities must be addressed. These include poor planning, a lack of affordable housing, inequalities, pollution, climate vulnerabilities, and urban infrastructure deficits. The book’s 19 articles unwrap these challenges and present solutions focused on smart and inclusive planning, sustainable transport and energy, innovative financing, and resilience and rejuvenation.

Rogers, Amanda. Creative Expression and Contemporary Arts Making Among Young Cambodians. Swansea University, May 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.23889/sureport.56822.

Full text
Abstract:
This project analysed the creative practices and concerns of young adult artists (18-35 years old) in contemporary Cambodia. It examined the extent to which the arts are being used to open up new ways of enacting Cambodian identity that encompass, but also move beyond, a preoccupation with the Khmer Rouge (1975-1979). Existing research has focused on how the recuperation and revival of traditional performance is linked to the post-genocidal reconstruction of the nation. In contrast, this research examines if, and how, young artists are moving beyond the revival process to create works that speak to a young Cambodian population. The research used NGO Cambodian Living Arts’ 2020 Cultural Season of performances, workshops, and talks as a case study through which to examine key concerns of young Cambodian artists, trace how these affected their creative process, and analyse how the resulting works were received among audiences. It was funded through the AHRC GCRF Network Plus Grant ‘Changing the Story’ which uses arts and humanities approaches to ‘build inclusive societies with, and for, young people in post-conflict settings.

Quail, Stephanie, and Sarah Coysh. Inside Out: A Curriculum for Making Grant Outputs into OER. York University Libraries, October 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.25071/10315/38016.

Full text
Abstract:
Catalyzed by the passing of the York University Open Access Policy last year, a recognition has been growing at York University, like most other institutions, about the value of Open Educational Resources (OER) and more broadly, open education. This heightened awareness led to the formation of a campus-wide Open Education Working Group in January 2020. The group advocated that faculty members who receive internal funding for teaching innovation projects through York’s Academic Innovation Fund (AIF) should include a Creative Commons license on their grant outputs to facilitate the re-use, and potentially re-mixing, of the content by educators inside and outside of York University. A copy and/or link to their grant output would also be deposited into York’s institutional repository, YorkSpace. To support the 71 funded projects in achieving these lofty goals, an open education and open licensing curriculum was developed by two of the librarian members of the Open Education Working Group. This session describes how the librarians created the training program and participants will leave the session better understanding: How to develop learning modules for adult learners and apply these best practices when teaching faculty online (synchronously & asynchronously); How to access York’s open education training program and learn how they can remix the content for their own institution’s training purposes; The common types of questions and misconceptions that arise when teaching an open education and Creative Commons licensing program for faculty. Originally the program was conceived as an in-person workshop series; however, with the COVID-19 campus closure, it was redesigned into a four module synchronous and asynchronous educational program delivered via Moodle, H5P and Zoom. Modeled after the SUNY OER Community Course and materials from Abbey Elder’s OER Starter Kit, the program gave grant recipients a grounding in open educational resources, searching open course material repositories, copyright/Creative Commons licensing, and content deposit in York’s institutional repository, including OER metadata creation and accessibility considerations. The librarians modeled best practices in the use and creation of Creative Commons licensed resources throughout the program. Qualitative feedback was gathered at the end of each module in both the synchronous and asynchronous offerings of the program and will be shared with participants. The presenters will also discuss lessons learned, next steps, and some of the challenges they encountered. https://youtu.be/n6dT8UNLtJo

Abstract:
Maths inside is a photo competition open to everyone living in Scotland, hosted by the University of Glasgow. The maths inside project seeks to nourish a love for mathematics by embarking on a journey of discovery through a creative lens. This suite of resources have been created to inspire entrants, and support families, teachers and those out-of-school to make deeper connections with their surroundings. The maths inside is waiting to be discovered! Also contained in the suite is an example to inspire and support you to design your own interdisciplinary learning (IDL) activity matched to Education Scotland experiences and outcomes (Es+Os), to lead pupils towards the creation of their own entry. These resources are not prescriptive, and are designed with a strong creativity ethos for them to be adapted and delivered in a manner that meets the specific needs of those participating. The competition and the activities can be tailored to meet all and each learners' needs. We recommend that those engaging with maths inside for the first time complete their own mapping exercise linking the designed activity to the Es+Os. To create a collaborative resource bank open to everyone, we invite you to treat these resources as a working document for entrants, parents, carers, teachers and schools to make their own. Please share your tips, ideas and activities at info@mathsinside.com and through our social media channels. Past winning entries of the competition are also available for inspiration and for using as a teaching resource. Already inspired? Enter the competition!

Full text
Abstract:
Ninety percent of the world’s trade goods travel by surface transportation, using maritime, road and rail assets. The security of the goods in transit, the infrastructure supporting the movement, and the vehicles, are required to ensure that international commerce proceeds successfully. Much has been written about the surface supply chain itself, but little has focused on the security of these components. This report provides a guide for those wanting an increased understanding of the security issues that supply chain surface transportation systems confront and a blueprint to guide their future research.

Abstract:
The American beaver (Castor canadensis) is known as an “ecosystem engineer” because of the benefits their dams provide to biological diversity and ecosystem function. It also is considered a “keystone species” because of its ability to transform its environment, creating new habitats upon which other species depend. Despite the many positive benefits beavers provide through foraging and dam building, beavers also create conflict with people when their activities cause damage. The focus of this publication is to provide basic information on beaver ecology, damage, and management.
